omg i was just going through ur babel posts and i was wondering if u had any more details abt the cohortswap au, it looked super interesting! love ur art btw <3
HELLO. I AM SO SO MAD THIS TOOK ME SO LONG TO ANSWER BC I'VE BEEN WAITING FOR SOMEONE TO ASK FOR MONTHS but i haven't had like a single free hour until now ANYWAY OF COURSE THANK U SM FOR TAKING INTEREST
MAJOR BABEL SPOILERS AHEAD //
cohortswap is basically an au eren @chromathesia came up with where griffin and robin swap places in the story; robin is now the older golden child gone astray, and griffin is now the younger second failure. and the rest of the cohorts get swapped with them!
we have a lore doc that is like over 14 pages long but we are keeping the full thing under wraps for now because eren is writing a massive fic they don't want to spoil too early lmaooo
some foundational deets:
ramy still dies... so sorry. except in this case he and robin planned to run and leave babel for the hermes society together (the um. romantic eloping is implied but unfortunately i don't think either of them get a real chance to act on it), and they plan for victoire to stay behind to keep leaking information out to them. letty finds out and betrays them the same way; calling the cops and barging in with a gun and. yeah. except this time, because it happens outside their dorm rooms, robin manages to escape, and drags ramy's body across half of oxford to bury him in the garden of the old library. he is deeply deeply fucked up from this
professor lovell doesn't die... so sorry. furious about robin's betrayal, he blames it on robin being corrupted by spending too long in his home country, and rips griffin out of china early. but he realises very quickly that griffin isn't fluent in chinese and can barely hold a candle to robin's talent. he never tells griffin about robin but very much takes it all out on griffin, who grows up feeling compared to a ghost his whole childhood. when he first meets robin it all clicks, and he can't help but resent his older brother for the hell he got put through
to save herself, victoire sucks up to letty, tells her that she almost got hooked by hermes and wants out and to put it behind them after everything, and letty is so desperate to believe it that she pulls all her strings to vouch for her and keep her safe. victoire remains at babel and she keeps working covertly with hermes under letty's nose. my comic was about letty and victoire first seeing griffin in babel, and mistaking him for robin. letty doesnt take it well lmao but also in her bullheaded stubbornness starts to treats griffin as her second chance to prevent robin's "mistakes" from happening again lollll
so that's like the general premise! here's some other fun deets:
robin is... severely depressed but is determined to follow through on hermes' work and not give himself an easy out like ramy implied. griffin is so desperately eager for more of hermes when he finds out, but robin keeps him at an arms' length for ages because he's literally been wanting to die for years and is not prepared or willing to have a little brother to look after now. they end up butting heads more often than not and it's a very strained relationship (as griffin and robin's relationship is in canon)
when griffin fails his silver-working test, it's because robin tries to help offhand by giving him a matchpair he came up with. griffin can't get it to work in the exam, but worst of all, chakravarti recognises it as robin's work. he doesn't report griffin for it since he's also a part of hermes, but he tries to give griffin a second chance to come up with his own, and griffin can't, so he fails. up until that point griffin had been trying to hide from robin how little he knew, so the look on robin's face when griffin next sees him is unbearable, like, the mix of pity and anger that griffin didn't tell him, the disappointment that griffin wasn't the connection to robin's culture he wanted, the guilt that robin let lovell rip someone else out of their home, and now griffin knows exactly what letting down an older brother feels like. but it all happens in the half second before robin squashes it all down and gets down to business because there are more important things to worry about and maybe it's good that can't get caught up in griffin's life like this. to quote eren: "i think the worst part to griffin would be that robin just treats it like a setback. like okay, that's one less tool for you to use, you'll have to make up for that deficiency somewhere, moving on, when he wants robin to react as though it's personal to him that griffin doesn't measure up because it should be, because griffin's not good enough for their father (and robin always rolls his eyes when griffin tries to claim lovell and griffin knows why but lies to himself that he doesn't) so he must not be good enough to this tarnished golden child, the prodigal son that lovell tried to recreate. but no, he's just slightly more ineffectual gear within the revolution now, that's a slight hiccup at best and not an entire childhood snatched away from a boy whose clearest memory of canton is the smell of sesame oil in a wok"
robin warns griffin about recruiting evie very early on, but doesn't tell him about letty or ramy for a long while because the wound is still fresh. griffin still persists, and robin is forced to whisk griffin out of babel after he kills evie. and he's just a mess whispering "you were right you were right im sorry im so sorry" because robin told him this could happen, but he let love and idealism cloud his judgments with evie, and robin has NEVER seen griffin like this, and any angry berating about griffin's stupid misjudgments die on his lips
griffin/anthony is so so very real. anthony is recruited by victoire separately, so griffin isn't even aware for a while and i think anthony actually held off on telling griffin bc of how close he was with sterling LOL. griffin and sterling had something insane going on at first, with sterling trying to be genuinely sympathetic to griffin's plight as an attempt to distinguish himself from his uncle's legacy, before the years drive them apart and griffin becomes aware that everything sterling conceded to him was merely lipservice. anthony and griffin get really close after they realise the other is already apart of hermes and post-evie as well. eren writes sterling as a critique of armchair radicals who see a sliver of violent liberation in practice and easily revert back into believing that the oppressed are savages. evie is a critique of white woman tears <3 i do believe she cries every time someone called her out for saying anything a little racist
yeah um there is way more and we both have comic/fic wips we're working on for the au but i will end this post here because it got so insanely long christ above. thank you so much for the question though i have soooo many thoughts about cohortswap au it's been absolutely taking over my brain

Answer the questions and tag five fanfiction authors you know!
tagged by @sarahowritesostucky, thank you lovely!! 💖💖 no pressure tagging: @late-to-the-party-81 @sparkagrace @bittersweet-in-boston @otpcutie @apple-writes
🍓 How did you get into writing fanfiction?
I feel like that's asking "how did you join Tumblr" it just happened 😂
🍇How many fandoms have you written in?
One, technically, which is nothing compared to others but I enjoy exploring my ideas with the MCU and its characters. I'm not sure I'd get the same feeling with other fandoms, like say, supernatural.
🍈How many years have you been writing fanfiction?
It'll be four this summer. Again, not long, but considering I denied myself as being a writer for several years? That's progress and growth.
🍎Do you read or write more fanfiction?
It depends on the muse and all sorts of other things. Sometimes I'm punching out oneshot after oneshot, while other times I'll be focused on a longfic and will read in between and stuff. Like currently!
🍌What is one way you've improved as a writer?
Writing more. Reading more. Writing more again. But also letting go of sticking to a strict outline. I'm a planster. I'll plan the major things, but everything else is made up as I go.
🍑Do you have any bad habits as a writer?
I'll often start or continue writing a scene and will find myself stuck, thinking it's the end of the world, and then realize my whole issue is a few lines above what I'm trying to make work. Happens so often you'd like I would be used to it by now.
🍍 What's the weirdest topic you researched for a writing project?
I don't know about weird, but I've been doing a ton of medical research for my future doctor/patient AU. I've searched around for all sorts of things lol even for a sentence that I'll likely not end up using.
🍉What's your favourite type of comment to receive on your work?
Keyboard smashes. Long detailed comments about the plot/relationship/pining/etc. Comments that mention a tiny detail I included, those are the best when people notice them. But also, any comment.
🍐What's the most fringe trope/topic you write about?
Crack fics? I don't think I write a lot of outlandish stuff, at least I wouldn't consider them to be 😂
🥭What is the hardest type of story for you to write?
Uhhh... *stares blankly at my open doc* Ones with big plot. I love it, it makes the story even more fun to write, but MAN plot can be tricky. Catch me saying "Did everyone see that? Because I will not be doing it again" like Captain Jack Sparrow when I finish a longfic, and then immediately start planning another one to write.
🍏What is the easiest type?
Short oneshots with hardly any plot. Which isn't often because almost everything I write ends up being longer than I anticipated.
🍑Where do you do your writing? What platform? When?
Docs. I used to use Smartedit Writer and organize by chapters, but ehhhh I just throw ideas onto a separate doc and go from there. Why plan extensively when my characters will do a 180 on me all the time? And almost always at night, sometimes during the day when time/the muse allows me.
🍋What is something you've been too nervous/intimidated to write, but would love to write one day?
I was just thinking about this recently. I have never written a post TWS recovery fic. It's on my 'to write' bucket list, so I hope to tackle a lengthy canon fic one of these days. I love reading canon fics where they're on missions and the plot is centered around HYDRA or some other big bad, I feel like those are trickier to write than AUs. But everyone has their strengths and weaknesses, and I know coming up with detailed worlds/world building isn't a walk in the park for some.
🍇 what made you choose your username?
I didn't know what to name my Marvel sideblog when I was making it so... I just decided Bucky + metal arm + aw crap that name is taken = Metalbvcky 🤣

Hiiiii I see that you and thirstworld collaborate a lot (and I love your work lmao 🤤). Can you explain how you two collaborate? Like, what your process is? Do you share a word doc, take turns writing chapters, something else? Thanks ❤️❤️
Hi nonny!!! Sorry it's taken a while to answer this. I wanted to take some proper time to answer this, since writing with @thirstworldproblemss is my favorite part of the writing process, and I was trying to pin down exactly how we make it work and the honest answer is:
utter chaos?
There is no real logic in all honesty, we do everything under the sun.
The collaboration comes in many forms.
Most of the time it's a side product of just how many hours, minutes and seconds of the day we spend talking to each other? This includes DM, Whatsapp, Discord, Tumblr messages (though that has taken the backburner since their messaging function is chaos and I rarely check it), sometimes we call each other when there's a long roadtrip. Sometimes we will be half awake insomniac and half conscious texting each other messages riddled with typos lyksalksdassisdis.
A lot of times before we write, be it a oneshot, a chapter or a headcanon that is never posted, it starts with one of us going:
"Hey you know what would be interesting? if ..." and off to the races we go. A lot of times one of us will throw a scenario of the character we're horny for at the hour, and throw a prompt at the other going: how do you think they'd react.
Our favourite thing is the 101 various AUs we have of every damn character. High School AU of Homecoming where the trio gets together (Frankie is an exchange student?) Royal Historical AU! where Santiago and Boa are betrothed and Frankie is a war captive? What about an angsty Frankie/Santi FWB in high school AU? etc etc etc
Sometimes one of us (most like TWP) will write a whole masterpiece of a fic from beginning to end in the DMs, and it's a matter of copying and pasting into the Gdocs. Sometimes one of us will start something and the other finish. Sometimes we play baton where one of us writes a paragraph then the other takes over.
For Red Flags. It was me holding TWP captive and hostage for over a year. (Much like what I'm doing with EYEM) talking her ear off, and both of us going over the chapter over and over planning in meticulous detail only to throw it out and write something completely different anyhow. (We must've rewritten chapter 6 four times from scratch until both of us were in absolute tears).
The main thing I'd say about our collaboration is that there is a lot of trust between us. Co-writing with someone requires a lot of vulnerability because writing can be something very personal, and if you do not feel close to the person it can throw up a lot of emotions you didn't expect.
We've also known each other for three years now, and talk a ridiculous amount. Often when we plan stories there will be at least a handful of times during the interaction of one night where we both suggest the exact same thing within seconds of each other and then we burst out laughing.
I trust TWP with everything I write, to the point where when she beta/edit, I do not review the changes, there's no tracked changes, because she has full editing permission on my stories, because I know she will be better at knowing what I wanted and intended to write better than I did.
I cannot stress this enough that while TWP might not be listed as a co-writer in everything I write (because she refuses to let me give her the credit she is due), she is an integral part of everything I write because I will consult her, brainstorm with her, she will suggest scenes, pacing, re-organise scenes that do not fit etc, before a story is posted. She is the unseen masterpupeteer of all my writing, and more importantly without her writing would not be as fun as it is for me, and I don't know if I would write as much or as often as I do without her.
Writing can sometimes be an incredibly lonely process and I have been lucky and fortunate enough to have a friend who never makes me feel lonely
I remember watching a John Mulaney and Bill Hader interview where they talked about stage fright and Bill Hader was talking about how to cope with anxiety, whenever he performed on SNL he only looked at John and was performing for John. if John laughed then he did his job. That's very much how I feel when I am writing and posting things here. When I write something TWP is my first and foremost audience I have in mind. So long as she laughs or is horny, then I know I've done my job.

Just curious but what's your writing process? Like how do you come up with an idea and how do you start writing it and such
My writing process is a whirlwind, that's for sure! I'll put it under a read more because it's very long!
Usually, I'd get inspiration for something and instantly go to write the idea down in a Google Keep note I call the "Idea Bank". I'm very forgetful, so these help me brainstorm and add detail to ideas. I have an Idea Bank for all of my main AUs and ones for random stories/AUs I come up with, and at the moment I have 22 of the latter. (Thanks to Keep's word cap.) I often go back and add new ideas/little details if I think of them.
I recommend having wherever you keep ideas easily accessible so you can note ideas down the moment you get them! Google Keep has this cool widget you can access from your phone home page! (The line of Keep applications is because they removed the part of the widget that let you quickly go to the app. :( )
Tumblr media
This is where my process changes dependent on my mood.
If I suddenly get inspiration, I tend to write in any important parts out and stick them in the idea bank. If this gets too long, I open a new Keep note and copy and paste it there for me to flesh out later.
If I have no inspiration, I jot down very briefly a description/summary of what the idea is about. It's often a summary then the notes are taken underneath the idea. For example, it could be something as simple as this:
Tumblr media
Or a long-ish summary/scene with details underneath, like this:
Tumblr media
Now onto the actual writing.
Tumblr media
I said, onto the writing.
Tumblr media
Why do I have so many empty Keep notes.
As you can see, I have a bad habit of starting a note, adding the title, and then imagining what happens rather than writing it down. It happens! Sometimes I get a cool title and then don't know what to do with it.
Most often than not, I start by opening up an Idea Bank and skimming through the ideas I have. If one sticks out, or if I already knew what I was writing from the start and just needed reference, I start to plan out what happens in my head. (Unless I already have a timeline of events or very vague notes on where the story goes, which makes life 10x easier.)
Sometimes, rarely, if a piece of writing is dialogue-heavy, I write up a script first.
Tumblr media
Then, I flesh out some parts.
Tumblr media
And I'd go back later to detail it. I often go back and flesh out parts I really like then revert back to script format for the parts later.
However, my main way of writing is what I like to call "Let's goooo". I have a vague idea, I kind of have an image in my head, I can wing this, surely! That's probably why half of my stories get stuck at a point and I don't know how to continue, but sometimes I get a streak of inspiration and write a whole story for me to edit and make sense of later!
I have a few Keep tabs open. These often include:
The Idea Bank for what I'm currently writing
The story I'm writing
The random ideas Idea Bank (in case I get inspo for something else)
Random other thing I'm using to procrastinate (Chatfic, other story, etc.)
Keep tab that isn't on a note, in case I need to use Keep for something and don't what to lose my place in my other tabs
So my window often looks something like this:
Tumblr media
The issue with me is that I have a million ideas and can't stick to one for long enough to finish writing a story for it. It's a miracle if I finish one!
Sometimes I'm too lazy to swap tabs and have the description/script of what happens in the story in the same Keep note, separated by a divider of sorts. I may also have what comes next underneath what's already written.
But most often than not, I have random important scenes held together by dividers! When I feel more inspired, I go back to connect the scenes together with whatever happens in between.
This example is a sort of mix between those styles!
Tumblr media
If I ever actually end up finishing something, I put it onto a Google Docs note to edit! Because the red lines under words doesn't appear on mobile Google Keep for some reason, if I'm writing on my phone I move to computer.
I'd usually check through with Grammarly to be extra safe (but I often have it off because it annoys me), then reread and add/remove words. Sometimes I end up adding entire paragraphs!
Then, I'd add the "Finished" tag on Google Keep, so I know the story is finished and I don't have to continue writing it. I also have "Ao3 Posted" so I know what I've posted and what I haven't.
Even then, sometimes I go back to finished stories to read and edit them! You can never be too thorough!
That should be everything regarding my writing process! The only other things I can think of mentioning is how I often write with music on! It gives me lots of inspiration, which is why I often write song fics! I also often write crossover and AU fics, but these never go posted because there's so much hidden lore that I can't explain it all with one fic! You see, I start in the MIDDLE of an AU, not the start. I have so many stories that are so far into the AU that they literally don't make sense to anyone else. (Which sucks D:)
I also tend to write at unholy hours of the night. For some reason, my brain decides the best time to come up with ideas is when I'm trying to get some sleep.
Tumblr media
Brain please. I want to sleep.
Also sorry for the late answer! I've been thinking about this ask a lot and wanted to get everything about my writing process in!

fic writer ask game: 5, 14, 15, 17?
5. What’s a fic idea you’ve had that you will never write?
The DSMP Speed Racer AU (I think I told you about this one). I like the idea but I don't plan to take it any further than in my brain
14. If you could see one of your fics adapted into a visual medium, such as comic or film, which fan fic would you pick?
Lmao ok. This one's funny to me because I was considering trying to adapt my stories into comics, but ultimately scrapped the idea bc I'm way out of my depth. I can draw and I can write, but I haven't practiced enough with comics as a medium (although who knows? it may happen in the future)
If I had to pick one fic to adapt, I think it'd have to be Requiem for the Departed. I think the story and pacing would work for a film, specifically one with a longer runtime
Tbh I might have to make another post about this going into more detail
15. How do you come up with titles for your fics/chapters?
It varies. Sometimes, I'll use songs/lyrics. You'd see that most with my DSMP fics. I believe only one of my Destiny fics has a song title, though more songs probably appear in chapter titles
If I'm not using a song, I'll try to come up with something that I feel encapsulates the subject or feeling of the fic. Sometimes I'll have an idea right away, but sometimes I'll have a whole list of scrapped titles before I get to the one I like
16. At what point in the process do you come up with titles?
It depends on the fic, but usually quite late. Titles are usually one of the last things I think about because I have to write the story before I can find a title that works for it if that makes sense
My first two Destiny fics are still in my google docs as "The Story" and "The Sequel" lmao. I didn't title them until I got to the title field on Ao3
On the other hand, I had the title for And A Song picked out before I was halfway through, and I knew what I was going to call some of the Per Audacia fics before I even started writing. So there's definitely a spectrum for me when it comes to titles
Thanks for the ask :3

Alright these have been off in my gallery for a while- but I've been meaning to share them
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
My silly little wacky family
This is from my human au Fazbear's Popstars! I haven't shared much about it, but i got a whole ass google docs file with the au's timeline, story, and characters lmao, i can maybe share some screenshots of that for yall if ya want
Or just the link to it maybe idk 🤷‍♀️
But MAN, i love this au so much, i could go all out crazy and info dump about them-
But to keep it short, Freddy's actual name is Gabrial, and his is Sir Fazbear's son (there's more to it and the og gang but imma leave yall to be curious and ask questions about it 😌 bc i miss interacting with yall as well-)
Gregory is Freddy's bio kid. The mom was just someone Freddy had a one night stand he accidentally got pregnant, but he never knew it bc she left before he woke up. She later on just left the newborn to his arms and left (again alot more to this, like why and how Freddy met this woman and did the deed lol)
The sassy queen over here is my oc Beeanca Queen, she was introduced here, i haven't shared alot of her yet tho, but i have a few plans to introduce her now that i got free time, her actual name is Destiny in this au
She's gonna be Freddy's gf/fiance on the au, marriage comes in a bit later. She's Greg's momma bee. Her and Freddy's dynamic came with the silly thought of, bears have the reputation of liking honey, bees make honey....you get the picture
Oh and Rammy is in this au as well. This au is the human version of my own au where Rammy is from, which the au is currently unamed as i haven't focused on it as much lol, but since it's just the og world just with my ocs, there isnt much to be talked about other then my oc's roles
There's also gonna be a few variations to this au where i mix things up with my buddy's @moth-berry human au, with her oc Quinnie, whom i very much love 🤲💞💞💞
Also also, this is my new favourite artstlye. Not really what imma do often, but it's quite easy to do when it comes to simple quick drawings
Tho definitely not easy (for me) to make it a full piece, or a comic, but it works to do quick ref sheets or just silly characters show off
I basically just doodle sum on paper, take a picture and transfer to ibispaint, go to the option of removing the white color of the picture. It won't look any different, until you take a layer underneath and color it, the picture is transparent. So i can just color in and once i remove the picture layer, i can just add quick in details and I'm done
It's so easy and fun, i kinda wanna draw more like that hehe

i hope this doesn't come across as rude or bothersome but you mentioned in another ask that you use your discord server for fic planning/writing/taking notes, and i was wondering whether you'd like to show or give some insight on it? like what channels and how it's built up essentially? it sounds pretty convenient and i was wondering what it looks like! (maybe it'd be something for me who keeps notes scattered in different docs and note apps and analog on grocery receipts.......)
hi dear!! oh my gosh not rude or bothersome at all lmao i'm more than happy to talk abt it! (i'm gonna put it below the cut tho cause it's a long boi)
ya so basically i have a personal discord which tbh i use for a LOT of stuff (beyond just fic planning) and i honestly can't recommend it enough??? generally apart from fic specific stuff i use it as a cache for links to art i really like or share often, random thoughts on genshin lore or other things, poetry, gift ideas for ppl in my life, to-do lists, cosplay concepts when i was more into cos, etc lmao
as for fic planning specifically!! the vast majority of my thoughts fall into a 'other projects' channel, which is my catchall for oneshot ideas, vague fic concepts, quotes, etc. fics end up with their own specific channel usually if they're longfic/chaptered or if i end up with just an overwhelming amount of ideas/thoughts about them lmao
one actually good diverse example of a channel i had was for chosen (x) where i had a TON of reference images for various zhongli imagery and symbols & i detailed out a lot of the thoughts i had on where those images should be carved on childe. i had a variety of scene ideas laid out although not all of them had a ton of detail, and i had dialogue snippets that i really wanted to use. i also wrote in a lot of the lore to make sure i had a coherent place to reference or adjust if needed, including some stuff that really didn't make it into the fic itself but needed to make sense in the background so that i could pull on it as required. notes as well for things i wanted to be sure to mention, cause they were relevant to the story but didn't come up right away or were part of the foreshadowing or i thought they needed clarifying somewhere.
i'm sure there are ways to be more efficient or organized about a fic, but this works well for me since i have discord on my phone and it's far less effort to pop into a channel and write some stuff down rather than navigate gdocs and look for a planning doc and make notes there. PLUS i only ever had planning docs usually for a fic i knew would be chaptered/long from the start, and didn't really have anywhere to put short ideas or random thoughts lmao
basically, here's my writing category in discord:
Tumblr media
although looking at this i could probably hide the kathb fic channel now that i'm done writing it lmao (i usually hide channels when the fic is finished, just so i don't overcrowd anything but don't lose stuff either lmao)
notes in these channels can manifest in a lot of ways but USUALLY it's dialogue or scene ideas that come to me when i'm busy with other stuff and i want to put down, or when it's something that won't happen for a while but idw forget (i am very forgetful). or just generally when i sit up at 3am with the perfect string of prose for a scene and i have to write it down RIGHT NOW or i'll lose it. this happens often enough that i keep my phone on my other projects discord channel when i go to bed so that if i do indeed wake up with an idea, i can just unlock my phone and start typing lmao
occasionally, i have actual research on certain things in those channels, or a timeline if things start to get messy (if you followed me in my bnha days, i had a channel for my fantasy dabihawks au that spiraled into a whole series and i really needed a coherent timeline for that) but for the most part it's scene and dialogue ideas! oh, and sometimes if there's art or smth that inspired the idea, i'll toss it in there too so i can reference it or be sure that i link to it when i post the fic. ah, and sometimes it's just stuff like this with minimal context lmao
Tumblr media
one of the bigger things for me that works really well is my other projects channel tho? that allows me to string stuff together and pin ideas and reply to other messages so i know what the heck i'm referring to when i just slap a line of dialogue or smth in there lmao. cause it used to be super hard for me to feel like a fic was gonna warrant its own planning gdoc, and something about putting a ton of notes directly into the fic doc below where i'm writing just never worked all that well for me lmao
it also serves as a great place for me to dump ideas and refer back to them easily, or expand upon them without having an actual fic doc somewhere? like, i have ideas i haven't actually started writing but i've added lots of notes and thoughts and stuff for, so it's great to have that somewhere easily accessible and searchable and all in one spot lmao
i'd say if ur standard modus operandi has been scattered notes everywhere, this is a huge upgrade in terms of being able to not only keep everything in one place but separate it out in an efficient way (you could probably get more efficient than i am, too, like having a category for specific ships/fandoms or even for a specific fic with channels for more specific purposes like research or dialogue or character notes, etc) - like, the whole thing is searchable, too, so if you misplace something or can't find it, you can still search for it in one single location. overall, cannot rec enough lmao
hope this helped a bit!!

13. What is a subject matter that is incredibly difficult for you write about? What is easy?
relationship angst is actually very difficult for me bc like. i dont know whats reasonable for couples to fight about bc ive never been a part of a couple lmao. like whats a disagreement and whats a fight and whats enough to break you up like yeah i know the red flags and whatever but i genuinely am the last person who should be writing romance fics lmao.* easy is usually anything where people are just like joking around and picking on each other although i WILL say that i take a million years to workshop jokes and yes my mutuals suffer from it. that being said the ass eating joke in the camp counselors au is still the funniest thing ive ever written and i still cry laughing every time i go back and reread the conversation that made that joke happen in alabanda
17. Talk to me about the minutiae of your current WIP. Tell me about the lore, the history, the detail, the things that won’t make it in the text.
my CURRENT wip (technically 2 most current wips) are secrets. the things that i Can tell you include: wip #1 is an extension of something i absolutely ADORED writing but continuing it makes me nervous bc like. you know how sequels are rarely as good as the original? i suffer greatly from that syndrome in my writing imo so it might be 1. worse for people to read (and yes i know i know yall will read whatever i write and will love it with your whole hearts but thats not the point) and 2. less enjoyable for me to write :/ but im having fun planning it right now at least!! i even got a new idea for it right when i got home from work so that was just jotted down in the planning doc :3
and wip #2 is a surprise! it is a very very new idea that is also technically not even My idea but i Got the idea by reading two entirely different fics (like not even both by the same author, and i doubt the two people even know or know of each other) and it was kind of like. what if i take THIS aspect of this writing decision and incorporate it into THAT storyline to explore how things might differ. and i have no idea how the end result is going to turn out bc i did Most of the planning at 11pm last night after working a 9 hour shift and then practicing my bass for like 2 more hours so. i might have to rework the whole thing anyway and may not even post it at all <3 we shall see <3
21. Could you ever quit writing? Do you ever wish you could? Why or why not?
i will admit i have Thought about quitting. I could never quit writing Altogether bc like ive said before ive been writing fun little stories literally for my entire life but like. right after i graduated college i was like. i should really stop paying so much attention to fandom and fic writing and focus more on like. finding a real job that isnt at a tourist trap that doesnt respect me and i kept telling myself not to plan too much further ahead in the year with my fics because who even knows if i'll be writing fic come october or november of 2021 (lmao) so like. i kind of did try to at least slow down my writing and that. failed miserably lmao. but i have decided that actually no i do not want to stop! writing makes me happy and its something that i enjoy doing and i think it keeps my brain active and gives me something worthwhile to do while im relaxing on the rare chance that i get a day off from work. i DO wish i could write more of my own original stuff but i simply do not have the brain space for creating original characters and relationships and such which is why i feel so comfortable putting the pjo characters into so many wildly insane new situations. at least that way it FEELS like i'm being original and creative even if im just playing around with the same puppets in front of a bunch of different cartoon backgrounds <3
thanks for asking!!
send me numbers!

WIP list...
So, it happens I have...too many... Really way too many.
Tumblr media
If I did a full list, I'd have to put a Read More break...
Just for Star Wars Expanded Universe (you guys call it Legends now.) I have about six WIP.
It's all Wes/Tycho and goes from my More Than Rogues fanfic — In indefinite hiatus — to a Second Generation with all of the kids from the Rogue Squadron pilots.
Voltron Legendary Defender also has about 5, including a Dragon Prince AU that I'm not going to post because it's an abandoned co-op, a Lotor Reborn fanfic, some loose dialogue Docs and a beginning of what should have been the Epilogue of Talking Is Hard.
Then we have Snowbaz!
A beginning of Simon and Baz's journey to find the whole truth about Simon's mom.
A draft for Undefeated. (Prequel with Jonathan and Alexander)
Dev and Niall drafts.
A draft for a fanfiction where Simon gets his true Walking Dragon powers back.
Lots of Legend Of The Galactic Heroes drafts:
Coming Home part 4.
Second Generation drafts.
A draft about Oskar finding out what really happened to his mother.
A draft about the Reuenthal Rebellion.
A draft about Gaby reminiscing on her short affair with Kircheis.
A draft about Gaby meeting Evangeline and falling for her.
And finally we have Bleach, which are the ones I'm going to discuss in more detail:
Dumbass Is Writing Bleach Fanfiction: My first Bleach Doc ever... Any random ideas and dialogues for my Sunflowers And Cherry Blossoms series goes there.
Drafts My Dream Has Your Eyes: Self explanatory, I think... Includes the final scene for this particular fanfic that has been waiting for me to write the rest of the story.
The Red Thread Of Love And Fate: It's supposed to be a Prequel. It tells the story of how Kuchiki Ginrei met his wife, the connections between the Kuchiki Clan, the Shiba Clan and the original Gotei 13.
Entwined: Rukia plans Byakuya and Ichigo's second wedding anniversary. Idea I had after seeing a post of a sculpture with two hands reaching for each other.
Resonance: Shirosaki/Senbonzakura. What happened within the connected Inner Worlds of Ichigo and Byakuya, after the Substitute Shinigami lost his powers.
Exit Stage Left: Final Chapter of My Dream Has Your Eyes.
And that's all I have, for now...
@barelybearart , @mondengel2 - I know you've already been tagged, but...
And anyone else who wants to join in.

Evil JUNES AU! Evil JUNES AU!
Time to whip out the evil Junes AU Google Doc
Okay, there isn't really THAT much. But I did crack some jokes with friends about it (thank you to Kudrat and @dangerousfantasist for our ridiculous conversations about this), and expanded on it from there, so there's a little bit. Allow me to introduce Persona 4: Nothing's Great At Your Junes.
Junes is a supernatural force of evil; their ultimate goal is to use the power of Shadows to have a monopoly over the shopping business, especially groceries - first in Japan, then the whole world. They've always had this goal as a company, but it was Yosuke's father who, given the power to enter the TV world by Izanami upon moving his family to Inaba, first got the idea to involve Shadows and Personas in their corporate takeover - at any cost.
Though Yosuke's father certainly isn't a good person in this AU, it doesn't mean he isn't a good dad - he truly does love Yosuke and wants the best for him, and while a great deal of his motivation for his actions is acquiring wealth and power and influence, no small part of it is also because he wants his family to have as many opportunities as they can. Yosuke is horrified when he discovers the truth, but the worst part is his difficulty reconciling his father's cruelty with his genuine affection for him - especially since while his father is more than willing to take on his friends, he will not fight his son.
Speaking of Yosuke's father's evil deeds, let's actually talk about them! Firstly: the Junes jingle is a brainwashing tactic. The fog from the realm of Shadows has a known effect on twisting people's perceptions, mental states, and personalities, and Junes harnesses that to convince people to buy more product from them, and overlook their unethical business practices (low pay, few benefits, shady outsourcing to use slave or near-slave labor abroad, typical corporation things). The better the brainwashing works, the more openly and blatantly and cruelly they can practice their oppressive capitalistic behavior while receiving no opposition, as the people they brainwash slowly become sheep who will buy anything from them no matter what, and avoid all other options.
As in canon, the fog is most potent on people who are physically small - which is to say that yes, Junes has been brainwashing Nanako into aiding their goals. While normally they are only able to sway thoughts, with Nanako and other children they are also able to sway actions, and exert some level of control over them. Thus, it is actually Nanako who pushes Mayumi and Saki into the TV, at the Junes local CEO's behest.
But why did Mayumi and Saki die in this universe, anyway? Well... they knew too much.
You see, announcer and investigative journalist Mayumi Yamano had come there to investigate a cold case - the mysterious unsolved hit-and-run that took the life of Chisato Dojima. Junes knew that Nanako had potential as an ideal test subject for their brainwashing, and a vehicle for furthering their nefarious goals - so as Junes was making plans to move to Inaba, they sent a contact to talk with Chisato while she was working from home. Chisato obviously declined because this seemed sketchy as hell, and they decided, well, if she'll be a hurdle, then let's remove her from the picture entirely. And BOOM! The secret Junes model of super fast car takes her out in the middle of the street later that day, before she could ever tell Dojima what had happened.
Initially, Mayumi went in looking to investigate like a normal journalist, but after losing her job when her relationship with Namatame came to light, she went undercover as a job-seeker with the actual goal of muckraking. But once she learned too many of the details of the brainwashing, she also learned that they had eyes everywhere, and without being part of a journalistic corporation, she had less protection and could easily be disappeared into the shadow realm.
Saki was a similar situation - at first she began working for Junes to help support her family's business, now dying because of Junes's arrival, but after working there long enough she, too, discovered the truth. She was told that if she left her job, or breathed a word of its secrets to anyone - particularly to Yosuke, since his father wanted to keep him in the dark and carefully scheduled his activities to make sure it stayed that way - her family's lives would be forfeit. But after Mayumi was killed, Saki quickly realized she wasn't safe even if she did keep quiet, and thus intended to come clean to her family so they could fight Junes together... but the grocery store chain got to her before she could ever get to them.
As for Namatame and Mitsuo? Well, poor Namatame didn't know that the shadow realm was where Mayumi and Saki had ended up and been killed, so when he discovered he had the power to enter the TV world, much like in canon, he assumed it would be a safe place to hide people from Junes's wrath - and didn't speak of what Junes was doing because it seemed likely that he and everyone around him would be harmed, and nothing would be done. Kidnapping for what he thought was the greater good once again became the only plausible solution in his eyes.
Mitsuo, on the other hand, was as much of a red herring in this AU as he is in canon, though for different reasons. After Mitsuo killed Morooka, they saw him as the perfect target to pin all of their murders on, and did everything they could to do so - but Nanako, fighting the brainwashing to the best of her abilities, pushes in Mitsuo instead to prove he isn't the real murderer (she's been watching a lot of detective shows!). If you're wondering how the hell this small adorable child is throwing a grown woman and two teens into the television, she makes use of a Rube Goldberg machine/pulley system in order to do so - and every time she asks big bro Yu to take her to Junes, it's actually because the brainwashing in the back of her mind urges her to buy more parts for the machine.
Aside from this, there are potential changes in social links/alterations in plot importance that haven't entirely been pinned down. Certainly, Yosuke's father has an SL that is triggered when you take a part-time job at Junes, results in him implying with increasing obviousness that he only let you have this job so he could keep an eye on you (and your "intentions" with his son lmao), and this can lead to its own accomplice ending - one where the world doesn't end, but Yu becomes a business partner in the company, Inaba's shopping district is destroyed and taken over, the people of the town want nothing more than to please Junes, and their next stop is the rest of the world. And certainly, given the highly different circumstances of Saki's death, I think it would be interesting to have Naoki be more of a major character, to the point of potentially joining the party... but not gonna lie, I don't really know how that would work lol
Finally, my favorite part of this AU, because it's both funny and I and several of my friends are biased: Adachi isn't evil in this AU. He's still secretly bitter, and misanthropic, and impoverished, and depressed, but he doesn't kill anyone or try to turn the human race into demons or anything. He's literally just some guy. In fact, he is the only significant character in the entire storyline who never learns about what's going on with Junes behind the scenes - when you talk to him at different points in the game, he has no clue why everyone is so stressed, and at the end of the game, he sees Junes is closing and is like "Aww, man, I loved that place. Where am I supposed to get my cabbage now...?" And instead of being plot-relevant, his social link is just a slow reveal of his hidden cynicism and anger, and it slowly being counteracted by helping him realize the abilities and good points he has, and that he is surrounded by people who love and care about him. (End of the game stinger is that now that Junes has closed, Yu and Nanako and Dojima are all teaching him how to grow it himself lol)

Author Spotlight: Heartsmadeofbooks Day 2
Tumblr media
Author: @heartsmadeofbooks
Share one of your strengths.
I like to think I'm good at writing angst. At least it feels like I'm at my best when I'm writing it.
Share one of your weaknesses.
The language, probably. It's gotten better with time, but at first it was so difficult to write in English, as it's not my first language. I'm very lucky to have a wonderful beta who hasn't yet killed me when I make the silliest of mistakes over and over again. So shout out to Christine for that.
Which fic has been the hardest to write?
There are two, I think, if not three. Syrup and Honey, because it was one of the first, when I felt like I was at the worst when trying to use the language to craft something decent; Quicksand, because  it deals with some personal stuff at some points and it was really hard to get it out; and Hidden in the Deep, because that first chapter sat in my drafts FOREVER, and I hated it every time I went back to it, but I was determined to write that story even if it felt so different from anything I had written before.
Which fic has been the easiest to write?
Flowers in the Window, I think. It was like going back home after a very, very long time away, and the whole story was written in a month and a half (probably because of quarantine, but also because I just wanted to do nothing but write all day every day) despite being a rather long and complicated story.
Is writing your passion or just a fun hobby?
I think it's a bit of both. For most of my life I wanted to be a writer, but I never fall in love with any of my original stuff. I think I still haven't found that one idea that makes everything fall into place, the way I feel about writing fanfiction. But hey, why can't writing fanfiction be my passion, as well?
Is there an episode or character or arc above all others that inspires you just a little bit more?
Most of my stories are AU, so I don't focus much on episodes, but I do love writing blangst. I'm so sorry, because Blaine Anderson is nothing but sunshine and rainbows and he certainly deserves all of the good things in the world, but there's something about seeing him broken that makes my inspiration flow like a damn river.
What’s the best writing advice you’ve ever come across?
Don't stress about every word being perfect right away. Just make sure you pour it all on the page, and you can always come back and fix it later. It's really liberating.
What’s the worst writing advice you’ve ever come across?
Write about what you know. I'm sure it works perfectly for others, but in my case, it would make for extremely boring stories.
If you could choose one of your fics to be filmed, which would you choose?
I'm pretty sure most people would say Syrup and Honey (and wouldn't that be a dream come true?), but I've always really loved Sitting, Waiting, Wishing. It would make for a great rom-com, I think.
What’s your process? Do you write your story from start to finish, or do you write the scenes out of order? Do you use any tools, like worksheets or outlines? What are the perfect writing conditions for you?
I start with an idea and I make a doc with all the details and an outline of chapters and characters. Sometimes that initial doc has a fragment of a scene that will later be included in the story, if that scene was a big part of why I wanted to start writing the story in the first place. Then I write the story from start to finish. I can't do it out of order, I just make a mess of things and get constantly lost.
My perfect writing conditions include silence, preferably, but I can work with some music on, mostly instrumental or in some way related to the story. Otherwise, it's distracting. A cup of tea is always nice, if it's cold weather season, or even a glass of wine. If I plan a long writing session, I usually have a candle or flowers on my desk, too.
However, if I really, REALLY want to write and none of those things are available (not even the silence), I can write anywhere. I've written at work and on my phone in a crowded train, and in the middle of the night after waking up from a particularly inspiring dream.

Check out Heartsmadeofbooks’s Fics!
The Awakening -  Kurt Hummel has put his perfect life together carefully, making sure all the pieces fit exactly how he wanted them to. But all it takes is one name from his past to make all his hard work go to waste - Blaine Anderson.
Flowers in the Window -  This is the story of four men - Cooper and Blaine; Burt and Kurt. This is a story of heartbreak and loyalty, of pain and hope, of loneliness and family. This is the story of how, even when the sun stops shining, love finds a way to bloom.
Solid Gold -  Ten years after breaking his engagement to Blaine, Kurt's life isn't the fairy tale he once hoped for. Forced to leave New York, he goes looking for a second chance, not expecting to find it in the town he always wanted to run away from, or with the man whose heart he shattered.

May I interest you in some fem!hermit!Tommy fluff for you in this trying time?
This is set in an alternative version of @redorich 's hermit!Tommy AU. Diverging from the Dream SMP's raid on Hermitcraft. All you need to know is that family trees are convoluted, Tommy's name is Clementine. She's trans, we love her, she has wings and has adopted Grian as her weird almost twin brother.
After the whole "Dreamon" and "invasion" mess the Dream SMP folk didn't expect to hear much from the hermits besides the ones who attended MCC. They thought that the two servers would just continue to exist, independent of one another. Just drifting through the void mere inches apart but never really touching.
Oh how wrong they were.
The hermits were friendly but they had absolutely underestimated just how friendly.
Apparently, the moment Clementine so much as breathed a word about how much she missed her biological family, Scar -ever the kind and helpful mayor that he was- decided to throw a beach party!
Since Clemmy's extended family was pretty large and they didn't want anyone to feel left out, it was an open invitation to everyone on the Dream SMP as long as they behaved.
That point was driven home when a few people, like Antfrost and his unhealed, dog bitten asscheek, mentioned how upsetting the Hermits was definitely not a good idea.
(Deep down they knew that the reason they were really doing this was because the hermits were worried about them. The Dream SMP was just a bunch of traumatized children according to them. They weren't wrong in that assumption but no one wanted to admit that.)
So, when the day of the beach party finally dawned, they all put on their least threatening outfits and packed up their supplies, (where Tubbo got the surf board nobody wanted to question) and entered the portal just like they had done a few months prior.
A few things were different though, the sun was bright and beaming in the sky, soft puffy white clouds rolled by, only promising gentle shade instead of the dreary air of yesteryear.
The shopping district had been rebuilt from it's smoky ruins and they finally all had time to appreciate the lovingly built shops and roads. It looked so beautiful and vibrant, you could practically feel the fact that summer was in full swing.
The smell of nectar and sea salt drifted through the air, sweetening even the sourest of moods. This is what peace was to the hermits. This was their everyday. They were so lucky and they didn't even realize it.
Some people were taking notes of all the different building styles with bright eyes, hoping to replicate some of it when they got home, others were suddenly hit with a feeling of bitter inadequacy of it compared to their homes. Is this what a world without war could look like?
But, no matter the gloomy musings of the few, they were all here to let go for a day! To celebrate the good times and to kick back for seemingly the first time in forever.
Their welcome party this time simply consisted of one person.
It was a strange sight, seeing the Hermits' admin Xisuma without a mask on, wearing a god awful hawaiian shirt that Keralis had thrown at him with glee the moment he mentioned that he didn't have something to wear, and again, were those, gods forbid crocks?
"'Ello everyone! Wow this is quite the turn up. Scar wished he could be here to greet you all personally, but he's still too busy helping the others preparing for the barbecue, so you're stuck with me for the time being.
Now, if you'll kindly follow me, we set everything up pretty close to here, so we'll be there in a minute."
The walk over to the beach was short, but just as scenic as the rest of the server.
Warm, golden sand, gently lapping waves and lush plant life. The sound of the hermits' laughter and soft music filled the air as the smell of the previously mentioned barbecue proved a welcome distraction from whatever the hell was happening on the far right side of the beach (the ZIT trio built a karaoke machine. It was Zedaph's idea. It was also a horrible idea but they didn't seem to realize that yet.)
As they began to debate a plan of attack, no wait. ... fun? enjoyment? eh whatever.
A tall man jogged up to the group. Some people recognized him as Mumbo Jumbo, that one british guy with the mustache. Others, however, as that semi-scary redstone wizard who managed to create extremely powerful potion launchers during the invasion.
He was dressed just as down to earth as the others, holding a tall glass of lemonade in his hand and wearing a (quite goofy) sunhat he borrowed from Ren.
He was explaining something to X in hushed tones (something or other about a minor fire at the barbecue table?) When he looked past the gathering of guests and out towards the path that they had come from, and screeched.
"GRIAN PLEASE I'M HOLDING LEMONADE DON'T!" X reached over and grabbed the glass from his hands just in time for a cackling, feathered ball of something to crash into Mumbo, knocking him into the water with an audible "oof".
There was wild thrashing as the two tried to orient themselves, Grian somehow climbing onto Mumbo's back.
"CLEMMY! COME HELP ME DROWN MUMBO!" Grian waved towards a cluster of trees to their left, underneath which a small gathering of hermits was enjoying a bit of a reprieve from the sun.
"NOT YOU TOO!" came the mustachioed man's scream of distress.
Clementine, the whole terrifying six feet and three inches of a woman that she was, took off running to the water at full tilt towards the struggling brits.
Mumbo, having already formed a strategy in his head, did a perfect T-pose and feel backwards into the water, bringing down a screaming Grian with him. Clementine did a graceful swan dive into the water (how she executed that shall be left for viewer interpretation) and happily joined the fray, even the distressed calls of Stress behind her because "Gods damn it Clemmy! I spent an hour on your hair! And now it's ruined!" couldn't persuade her to give up on her mission to cause as much friendly chaos as possible.
She climbed out of the water a few minutes later, her hair a mess and a bright smile on her face.
"Techie! Wilby! Tubbo! Thank you guys so much for coming! I'm really glad that you could make it." She hugged them each close, enjoying the comfort of having them all together again.
"I wouldn't miss it for the world." Techno relaxed his posture, trying not to fidget too much. He was getting better with crowds but it was still a lot.
"You may think he's joking but he literally dragged Quackity all the way to the portal because he was too busy doing his eyeliner and would've made us late." Wilbur snickered when she leaned in to hug him, earnings him one of her patented ear-splitting laughs.
"I got a recording of it!" Tubbo proudly announced, pulling out his video camera
while still holding an arm around her.
"ABSOLUTELY NOT! LET ME HAVE SOME DIGNITY MAN!" The aforementioned Mr. Fattest Ass in the cabinet screamed indignantly as soon as he got within hearing range.
"Quackity you never had any dignity. It's too late for that." Techno flicked the duck shapeshifter on the head, earning him even more annoyed rambling which he just chose to ignore.
"Well, I'm glad that that's settled, now, I have some people I'd like for you to meet."
She directed them towards the group sitting in the shade, which consisted of False, (a now soaking wet) Grian, Stess, Mumbo (who also looked like a disgruntled cat that was just given a bath), Iskall and Ren.
Meanwhile Doc and Cleo had a little cornered off area they'd nicknamed the "cool kids club" (it was because around this time the sun got strong enough to actually burn her and Doc just felt slightly iffy about the water, since he was, ya know, half robot.)
Clemmy threw herself down on a blanket in front of a grumbling Stress who set about actually making her hair look presentable.
Niki sat down next to them and began discussing the merits of different styles to put Clemmy's hair into.
Ranboo sheepishly sat down next to Cleo's lawn chair folding all of his gangly limbs under himself.
Wilbur happily plopped himself down next to Ren on a blanket and began to hum along to the other's guitar.
Techno lay dow his cape, deciding that a nap was the best course of action in that moment.
Fundy hesitated for a second before going down to the shore to relax and just put his feet in the water for now.
Philza, the awkward dad that he was, chose to sit down close enough to the girls that he'd be able to hear what they were talking about without intruding.
Tubbo placed his stuff down by Clemmy's feet and ran out to the shore with his surf board in hand.
Going through so many conflicts in such a short amount of time really tires a person out, especially ones as young as the ones from the SMP so getting this afternoon of rest truly helped ease some of the stress given to them by recent events.
(Beach episode pog?)
Of course, this little get together wasn't without it's faults. About two hours in Doc accidentally trampled False's sand castle, who in retaliation teamed up with Cleo to dump water on him while he was relaxing.
This little conflict evolved into a battle to see who could build the biggest and grandest sand castle between "Team Himbo" and "Team Women" (one of those was coined by Clemmy). Puffy and Stress set up a good system of transporting sand from point A to point B, allowing them to move faster. False got placed on detailing duty while Niki brought refreshments for the rest of the team. Alyssa was mostly helping out wherever she could, as Cleo worked her armour stand magic to make their castle feel even more alive.
Clemmy just shouted encouragements and bullied the opposing team.
(The member list of Team Himbo has been redacted to avoid any drama about who might qualify as a himbo in the given circumstances)
Somehow the guys managed to convince Techno to join them, which immediately stacked odds in their favor to which Eret and Iskall, being the non-binary legends they are, decided to side with Team Women, now renamed to "Team Prettier Than You".
Their building contest laated for another hour before X decided to try to stop them (it wasn't because of the time. It was because TFC and Grian started shouting things about structural integrity and adding stone parts to the walls and the contestants actually listened when he decided that it was getting out of hand.)
Then it was time to actually enjoy the barbecue. Techno surprised everyone with how delicious his baked potatoes ended up. Beef also got to flex his skills a little with, as you guessed it, beef.
Tubbo and Tango sadly had to eat further away then everyone because the moment they got within ten feet of the fire something mysteriously combusted.
After that, the ZIT trio busted out the karaoke machine and the night went from good to great.
The old Team Star was dared to sing a rendition of Hermit Gang and everyone younger than 25 felt physical distress during some parts.
The sleepy bois (+Tubbo) sang a cover of "Your new boyfriend" (Techno got surprisingly into it) and then Wilbur swiped Ren's guitar to sing some Taylor Swift songs (accompanied by Tubbo on a synth he seemingly pulled out of nowhere) in that one weird accent he can do which had most people wheezing on the floor from laughter after the first song.
Niki threw down a german cover of Say So by Doja Cat. Grian, Phil and Tommy were unconsciously doing the parrot dancing thing. It was great.
Quackity sang something in spanish and Karl and Sapnap made over exaggerated swooning noises.
Skeppy and Bad did a duet. It was as adorable as it sounds.
Some other people also came on stage, belting out songs in such horridly broken voices that I'll spare you the details. Let's just say, nails scratching chalkboards would sound better.
And that was most of the festivities over with.
The last thing on the agenda? A meteor shower. How did they set it up? Clemmy's weird star child thing. The aforementioned girl was huddled close together with her family as they watched the comets streak across the clear sky (all electronics and artificial lights were shut off for the night) and Melohi played from a jukebox in the corner.
Fundy was laying his head in Dream's lap, the other boy was softly threading his fingers through his almost fiance's orange hair while leaning heavily on George and trying not to let sleep claim him as it had the fox (no one knew how this happened, all they were aware of is that the three had disappeared sometime during the sand castle contest only to reemerge having finally talked things through and come to an agreement that they all seemed happy with).
Ranboo, Niki, Puffy and Eret were collapsed in a happy pile just vibing.
The sleepy bois, who were for once actually sleepy, all wore matching flower crowns braided together by Stress's experienced fingers (and Wilbur's rather clumsy ones). Phil and her had managed to come to an agreement of unofficial joint custody after he witnessed Techno embarrassedly lean down to let her place a crown of golden flowers upon his head and saw his internal beam of pride when she called him "handsome".
The boys never really had a mother he mused, maybe she could teach them kindness where he couldn't.
Another surprise addition to the family was the owner of the third pair of wings in the cuddle pile. Phil didn't expect to end up with any more children at this point in his life, but Grain and Clemmy were practically attached at the hip and it felt wrong to even think about separating them.
He only hoped that those two wouldn't cause too much chaos especially when teamed up with Tubbo.
In the end, everyone drifted off to sleep, one by one they closed their eyes on their most perfect day. Praying for whatever might be out there, that they'll have many more moments just like this.
Well,
almost everyone.
Callahan chuckled as he walked back up to his spot with Alyssa farther away from the others. shutting off his camera after cycling through the pictures he took of everyone looking goofy while sleeping (His favorite is the one where Clemmy was very visibly munching on Techno's hair). He may not use those as blackmail but he sure ass hell was going to tease them about it later. He fell asleep there on that hill, drifting off to comforting rest like the others.
After that? Life moved on.
It was chaotic sure, and not perfect.
But it was theirs. They grew up slowly, learning to be kind to one another, how to grow with one another.
Life wasn't always perfect but hey, they had each other. And in the end? That's all that mattered.

Could you talk a little about how you plot out fanfic? I’ve written a few one-shots and planned many multi-chapter stories in my head but usually just write the parts I like and never follow through with the rest lol. I’m trying to be more deliberate with my writing next year and I envy your consistency
Sure! An outline does make a difference for me. Even if I think I know where I want a fic to go, the act of committing it to a doc solidifies it and serves as a kick in the pants down the road.
I start with whatever I've got--a line of dialogue, a setting, a scene. With Soldiers, Spies... I knew I wanted to write a Revolutionary War fic for the ship. That was all I knew. And then I was like... ooh, spies... spies on opposite sides would be angsty and interesting. Figuring out what the main conflict will be and then how that will be resolved is my next step. Can be a really simple bullet point description of setting, conflict, resolution. If there's a trope, a theme that's going to be foundational, throw that in too.
From that point, I brainstorm a working title and working summary. I make a list of all the characters with details about their ages, experiences, motivations, etc... which informs how I write them, whether or not the reader knows all of it. If it's an AU, this is the stage when I'm making supporting cast decisions. Like what would Sam do in the 1700s? Do I want him in this? I might also do some prelim research on the setting and jot down those relevant details. Maybe you want to do face casts or find photos of your setting. Inspiration stuff to paste into your outline.
Then I start working around the points I have roughly established: introductory events, rising action, climax, falling action, resolution. Some of those initially might be missing or shaky, but I do a brief chapter by chapter write up with placeholders for missing things. If it is multiple POV, I decide for each chapter who would be the most interesting one or the most frustrating. I might further specify a timeline for each chapter--season, month, what's just happened prior to the action show.
I'll typically let that marinate, expanding mentally the points I might want to hit, a scene I'm dying to write, and then go back to flesh out the outline. I don't actually let myself write a first chapter or whatever at this point--save that as a treat, lol--but I will slot in dialogue into the outline that comes to me. Maybe you've got a metaphor you know you want to use or whatever. Include all that mess in the outline.
I give myself permission to alter the plan as I'm writing, kill my darlings, etc., but any changes I make, I reassess the outline, constantly referring back, so I'm not undermining the whole. As I write a chapter, if I hit upon something I love and know I could do a callback later, I add that to the outline too. Outline evolves and helps the forgetful writer. If someone says something in the comments that jogs an idea, go to the outline! It can end up getting pretty involved. But especially if there's been a break in my writing, going back to the outline saves me from having to try to re-read a lot of what I wrote in the actual fic. It's a shortcut to getting back into the mood of fic.
Also, if you're not into writing a scene, find a way to skip it! That's okay! It might be a bad sign that you're dreading writing it. Readers will probably not want to read something you didn't want to write. Do you have to tell that part? Or can you skip several years, lol? Or have it be summed up in a paragraph or a couple sentences of dialogue? That might be more impactful anyway.

What was your writing process with the first SoPDoE story? For example, did you have a general concept for the story outlined ahead of writing it, or did you write first and see where it took you? Or maybe your process was totally different--I'd love to know any of your experience and process that you're willing to share!
Did you learn anything while writing it that may help other writers in terms of writing a longfic, improving craft, etc?
I'm going to go ahead and put this beneath a cut because I can already tell it's going to be long. :P also SoPDoE spoiler warning?
SoPDoE began as a spite fic. I read (well, started reading) a different shakarian arranged marriage au and found myself frustrated that the plot wasn't being handled the way I wanted it to be--which is really the best way to begin a story because it means you have an Opinion. The first chapter just sprang forth fully formed [their parallel "Absolutely Not" answers and Garrus' "With all due respect, what the fuck?" and Shepard just verbally bitch-slapping in their first interaction]. And then major pathways became clear very quickly. I knew that the Council was going to break them up quite early on in the writing. I knew that Galena dying would be a major catalyst to push them together. But some things came later, like the whole Garrus starting a Pier Earth Imports for Shepard plot-line came. And a whole slew of kissing scenes had to be removed/reworded because their relationship arc wasn't making sense for the drama I wanted in act III. (I did save those scenes, btw. they're in a doc called Kissing Graveyard XD)
There's this concept you've probably already come across of plotters vs. pant-sers. Aka writers who plot out their whole stories before beginning writing and writers who just jump into the story without anything planned more than the next sentence. If I had to pick, I'm definitely in the plotters, but realistically, I'm in both. I like knowing where the general flow of the story is going, even if I'm not sure how to get there or what getting there will actually look like. For SoPDoE, I always knew that Garrus & Shepard would finish the story Together, but the exact details of Together changed over time as the story progressed. (At one point Garrus & Shep were duo spectres, till I realized that would make no sense for a turian who just turned his back on the whole Hierarchy.) And that's really the best way to do things, at least in my opinion. You have your heading so you have momentum, but you also aren't so driven that you can't stop and smell the roses along the journey.
I think the biggest thing that SoPDoE taught me was how much work goes into writing a whole-ass novel. Knowing that makes me feel better about starting wip's that I eventually abandon, because I know that the idea wasn't worth the effort. It's a good way to grant myself permission to move on and find the next idea that actually Is worth the effort.
The other thing SoPDoE taught me was how to keep myself engaged in a story. People write for all different reasons and when I began I don't think I knew what mine was. I know now. SoPDoE was catharsis for me. Garrus was my self-insert in this fic, especially through the Galena plot line as I am also losing a parent to a long drawn-out terminal illness that will one day take a sudden turn for the end. This is what they mean when they say Write What You Know. But besides catharsis, SoPDoE and all of my writing really are performance. I love having an audience beyond just my wonderful readers. I have a close circle of friends who see my stuff before anyone else does. I trust their opinion, their critique; I strive to surprise them, to delight them, to make them bust into my DM's in a frothing rage. They've taught me so much about writing, and they are who I write for when I can't write for myself. If you can figure out what type of carrot will keep you plodding along the path of writing, you'll be leagues ahead of so many.
As far as improving craft, the best advice I can give is to write. You gotta write. Better to write a full page of utter garbage than to not write anything at all. Even the garbage will teach you something.

How many works do you have on AO3? 40
What’s your total AO3 word count? 200,109
What are your top 5 fics by kudos?
I Get The Feelin’ That You Wanna Fall
I Want You to Stay, You Have to Go
Except Your Touch
Couldn’t See You Coming
The Moments In Between
Wow, I didn’t realize my three highest were all Chenford.  Nice!
Do you respond to comments, why or why not?
I do my absolute best to reply to every comment left on my stories.  Interaction with authors was one of the things that got me more actively involved with fandom and led to me writing my own fic, so I try to pay that back.
What’s the fic you’ve written with the angstiest ending?
It’s a toss up.  The Fuse Is Lit, So Stand Back and Watch It Burn is one of the very few (might even be the only?) fics I’ve written that has a confirmed, definite angsty ending, because it’s basically a canon scene where I added in Ward’s inner thoughts.  And well...that didn’t end well for anyone.  But Don’t Go is probably the angstiest, despite it being an intentionally and very ambigious ending.  I think the ambiguity adds to the angst and I got a much bigger reaction from readers for it.
Do you write crossovers? If so, what is the strangest one you’ve written?
Not really.  I don’t have a lot of personal attraction to crossovers (they’re really, really hard to do well and serve all of the characters properly).  I applaud people who can do them well, I’m just not intrigued enough to try.  I’ve joked around with little headcanons and daydream ideas here and there that I discuss with friends, but nothing that I have sat down to actually write and publish.
Have you ever received hate on a fic?
Surprisingly no.  I actually haven’t really gotten any hate, either on fic or in anon asks.  Maybe I joined the fandoms too late or maybe I’m too boring to pick on.  Either way, works for me!
Do you write smut? If so, what kind?
Siiiiiigh.  This is a weird one for me.  No, I do not write smut.  I do however cheer on my co-writers to write the smut for our stories.  And I have definitely helped choreograph and beta’d smut (making sure everyone get their clothes off is harder than you think).  But writing smut myself is one of those lines that I drew for myself, whether it makes sense to anyone else or not.
Have you ever had a fic stolen?
Not that I am aware of.  But it’s one of the things I’ve always been concerned about when people have asked to translate my fics (which is also incredibly flattering!).
Have you ever co-written a fic before?
Hahahahahahahahha.  Yes. I’ve done headcanon ‘verses with @vesperass-anuna and @agentramsey where we exchanged prompts and wrote stories for each other.  In those, the individual stories were each written by us, but all together, the whole collection was definitely co-written.  And then there’s @evieoh with whom I co-write a TON of stories.  Seriously, all of my best stories are the one we co-wrote.  And we really and truly co-write.  There are scenes that one or the other of us wrote, but there are parts where we literally alternated sentences or even words.  It’s a very enmeshed process.  Bless Google Docs!
What’s your all-time favorite ship?
Skyeward.  Chenford is working hard to climb up there, but at the end of the day, Skyeward has my heart, my ass, and my soul.  Just the other day I was listening to random songs and having major feelings about them with Skyeward.
What’s a WIP that you want to finish but don’t think you ever will?
Alias AU.  It’s just too big for our brains to handle.  We have SO MUCH of it mapped out, but there’s a lot of mythology that needs to be detailed, and we’re just not gonna get there.  So we scaled it down to Blalias AU, as we nicknamed it.  Hopefully we’ll work our way through that.
What are your writing strengths?
Banter.  For sure.  I love writing dialogue.
What are your writing weaknesses?
Action. Don’t think I can do it at all.  But then again a lot of my fics are in settings that don’t require a lot.  Also, slow burn is actually hard to write!  I just want them happy and comfortable in a relationship.
What are your thoughts on writing dialogue in other languages in a fic?
I don’t really do it, mostly because I don’t have a good reason to in the stories that I write.  As a reader, I like a little bit, like a sentence or two, where you can guess the meaning from context.  And I really love little terms of endearment (bless Darklina fic for all the Russian endearments) in other languages.  But if there are big blocks of dialogue, I just skip over them.  If there’s a translation, then it takes me out of the story, and if there isn’t, I’m not going to go look it up, so.... yeah.  As a writer, if I had a reason to use another language, 1) I would make sure I got the translation from an actual human that speaks it (i.e. not Google Translate) and 2) it would be just a line or two that wouldn’t need a separate translation to understand.
What was the first fandom you wrote for?
Very very very first, was Hanson.  Yup, that Hanson.  I even turned in a self insert fanfic as a Creative Writing assignment in high school.  I still can’t decide if my teacher knew what it was and died laughing at me or had no clue because he was an old grizzled English teacher who would rather listen to jazz than Mmmbop.  But like, as intentionally writing fic, it was actually Skyeward.
What’s your favorite fic you’ve written?
Hmmm.....that’s really really hard.  I loooove Couldn’t See You Coming (Skyeward Soulmate AU I wrote for Evie’s birthday a few years ago).  I think Finders Keepers is my best single fic.  And From My Hands, I Could Give You (Restaurant AU) might be the one I’m the very most attached to.  I haven’t updated it in 2+ years, but I still think about it and daydream plan for it on a near-daily basis.
