Okay, hear me out because I need to share this thought with someone, but 'the prophecy' & 'the bolter' as aromatic James and regulus... (or any of the marauders and co) (it could also just be because I relate to those songs on a aromatic/cupioromantic level and kin james)

the prophecy is very much james at least in my head because in my head he wanted all that love stuff he wanted to fall in love so badly and he blamed himself for it a lot he thought he was doing it wrong. He told himself he was in love with lily because he thought that's what love felt like he thought he would force it but he couldn't, and so he was just sitting there with her in his arms praying to any god that would hear him that he would feel something feel the things everyone is telling him he should feel but he doesn't please change the prophecy don't want money just someone who wants my company

and THIS line really sticks out to me as him because he's been waiting. When you're young you don't know what love is, you don't know how to have crushes, but then eventually everyone around you is having those feelings and being in love and you're just not feeling any of it James was waiting but now he's crumbling because everyone else is in love and he just... isn't

and the bolter! that's my boy reg right there and not just because of the drowning symbolism...

Reg doesn't like anything romantic in my head, like he likes holding hands when it's James and only James but the rest is a no for him he doesn't like kissing and he doesn't like anything more it makes him sick. With James he just doesn't feel anything but Reg is completely just repulsed by it

So he's not waiting for signs of soulmates he's scoffing at all his friends and rolling his eyes. He hung onto the idea of cooties for probably much too long but that's just how it was with him

and I'm saying that this isn't actually all like "romantic" at least not for Reg, because I feel like he gets himself into a lot of situations he doesn't mean to simply because he doesn't think like that

Someone could very obviously want to get in his pants and he's oblivious to the whole thing he never looks at someone and wants to fuck them so he doesn't think anyone ever looks at him like that but they do and so he can be talking to them and then suddenly it hits him and he realizes they're looking for something he really doesn't want to give them so all that "first blush" and roses are really just in the other persons head and not his so he runs and everyone just thinks he's flighty and can't do commitment but he really just can't do any of it

when jeg meet james finally can have someone who wants his company and someone he knows he doesn't have to force any feelings for someone who is just his and reg knows he doesn't have to run anymore because he knows james isn't looking for anything more, he's just looking for him

What has been the most challenging part for you when you were mashing together TGM and Lt Rogers? What did you struggle with that was the lynchpin for making it work?

these are both fantastic questions! so please forgive me for such a long answer 😅

so the one most challenging things was trying to work around "The Blip". because "The Blip" is a very important event in the Marvel Universe.

in some of the first drafts of 'Lieutenant Rogers' i had included more of her backstory and how she came to be in the Navy verus going into the Army like Steve had (i may write some side blurbs and include this, we'll see) but i had also included her feelings throughout the events of CA:CW and Infinity War and Endgame, including both blips

in the TGM universe, the Uranium Mission would technically occur within the 5 years that half of the universe had disappeared.

and in The Falcon and The Winter Soldier, we that the alliances and treaties created during "The Blip" are being challenged and broken. the flag smashers are a result of that.

and boom, there lied my connecting piece. the Uraninum Mission is a direct result of half the world's population coming back out of nowhere. so i just pushed back the mission to occur during TFATWS, no harm no foul

now, a pretty vital piece is that the shield HAD to go to John Walker (barf in my mouth, bleh 🤢🤮)

and myself, and my mom when i spoke to her about this story, both said "if steve has kids, it makes the most sense for the shield to go to them, right?" WRONG -- well in Star's case

because she already has a career, she's already doing her name proud.

it's why i had Sam attempt to give it to her in part one, so that she could turn it down - she's putting her trust and faith in Sam, just like her father had.

and that's how we got to where we are now!

when baghera was sus of jaiden because of the thing when pomme died and jaiden had been the reason baghera left her side for the only time that day, i wasn't even worried. i wasn't worried bc i was like "we just wait. because i know they will TALK TO EACH OTHER." and I WAS RIGHT. TWO DAYS LATER IT WAS ALL CLEARED UP AND BAGHERA WAS HELPING HER OUT WITH CUCURUCHO

and the ordo theoritas is functionally a secret organization. it would be SO EASY to gatekeep the lore, on grounds of "the federation is always watching and anyone could be a spy" and yet the ordo theoritas says that, like bad SAYS THAT, says OUT LOUD, "anyone could be a traitor" and then turns around and goes "hey person i've had a few days' worth of conversations with, here's a detailed rundown of everything we've learned about the island's mysteries, and the secret location of the ordo base". SOFIA was supposed to be secret from everyone, and for a little bit she was. but now like, the ordo theoritas is showing her to everyone. it would be SO EASY to hide things and to gatekeep things but they just. don't do it. here's the supercomputer!!!! don't forget to grab her waystone so you can come back anytime!!!

bad learns something. "i need to tell forever/cellbit/baghera". forever figures out a new way to protect the eggs, and he gets it to everyone within days. cucurucho tries to have a secret conversation and the entire server knows about it almost instantly and there are three people buried in the walls reading the subtitles and giving each other meaningful glances

i love it. i love it. miscommunication plotlines drive me up the fucking wall and the fact that i wasn't even SCARED when jaiden and baghera could easily have angled into an angsty tangled web of that and instead just MET WITH EACH OTHER AND EXPLAINED EVERYTHING AND CLEARED THE AIR ALMOST IMMEDIATELY was so fucking breathtaking. and this is a multilingual server. this is a MULTILINGUAL SERVER. i love it. i love it so much i want to cry. it's a server for communication and people Communicate, it would have been SO EASY to slip into monolingual factions and stick to the familiar but they DIDN'T. they DIDN'T. WE GET TO HAVE A THEORY TABLE WITH SO MANY LANGUAGES SITTING AROUND IT. we get to have conspiracy walls in every language!!!! idk sometimes i forget how fucking CRAZY all this is, like the scale of what they've accomplished

But what if Eddie realizes he's in love with Buck when he finally remembers everything about the day he was shot? We've seen him say he remembers things but what if he didn't remember everything? What if he doesn't remember his blood smeared all over Buck, on his face, on his hands, on his tongue? What if he doesn't remember trying to call out to Buck but only managing to mouth his name soundlessly? What if he doesn't remember the way he reached out to Buck while bleeding his life out onto the asphalt? What if he doesn't remember thinking Oh, it's him, it's always been him. I should've told him and now it's too late.

What if he finally remembers it all and he sees Buck laughing with the team, shining bright like he's Eddie's personal sun and Eddie is drawn to him like he's Icarus and thinks oh fuck. He had realized he was in love with Buck and forgotten.

And now he remembers. And now...oh.

(and he thinks, like Icarus, is he doomed to fall short and burn his wings before he reaches his sun?)

If being weak is a "sin" in Crocodile's mind, then isn't a painful defeat and maybe even death rightful punishment for it? A punishment you deserve for your crime of "being weak"? That's an intriguing mindset from him because it makes me wonder how Crocodile might view his own past and the things he has gone through? I might not go as far as to say Crocodile "blames himself" for the things he's gone through, as he doesn't seem like the kind of guy who dwells on the past like that. But I do feel like Crocodile has accepted in his mind that things like losing his hand happened because he was weak, and it was his own fault. That he can not blame anyone else for what has happened to him. He fucked around and he found out.

It's just interesting because to some degree, One Piece thematically does agree with this sentiment, this is a world where the strong eat the weak. (One example at the top of my head; Luffy refusing Katakuri's apology when his sister intervened with their battle, saying he should've dodged the attack properly if he didn't want to get hit.) Chaka falling in this scene and being unable to stop Crocodile may lead to the deaths of so many more, including his loved ones, and if that comes to pass, it's is Chaka's own fault. For being too weak. But also Crocodile has twisted that idea; Crocodile is using his worldview here to justify himself and essentially saying he can do this (take over Alabasta and kill a million innocents doing so) and get away with it because he's powerful. When in reality "weakness is a sin" isn't about the survival of the fittest, but how this is a world where the strong are meant to protect the weak. (See: Luffy) (Also how Pell told Baby Vivi in that flashback about how he trains so he can protect the Royal Family; again, he he craves power not to oppress the weak but to protect them)

But, just to get back to Crocodile again, I feel like this worldview might also give us more insight as to how he acts in certain situations post-Alabasta. Like when we see Crocodile towards the end of Miss Goldenweek's cover story, both when he declines to escape from jail and in his Impel Down mugshot, Crocodile has a smile on his face. That really is the face of a man who has accepted his fate, is it not?

"Welp, this is what I get for losing to a child in flipflops"

Or when we see him come collect his debt from Buggy; Crocodile seemed quite relaxed and fully admitted he had assumed Buggy would've ran away before he even got there to collect his money. Of course, considdering his trust issues Crocodile would've been mentally prepared for Buggy skedaddling anyways, but the fact that he loaned the clown money to begin with while assuming he'd probably never get that money back-- like Crocodile knew that was going to happen and he just accepted it. And just rolled with it.

Of course, when things take an Unpleasant, Unexpected Turn, he will blow a fuse. Multiple, even.

Thinking about that one scene in the new ava short where RYGB get surrounded by the grey sticks and how perfectly it shows off their personalities.

Red immediately starts fighting them because they act on instinct and heroism. Bad guys surrounding me and my friends? Time to battle.

Green watches Red go forward and fight, and joins in the second Red gets hurt because they aren’t just a tough fighter, but a defender. Friends in trouble? Time to battle.

Yellow was one I found interesting because of how they hesitated. You watch them flinch and even take a step back as they watch Red and Green go down. They were not prepared for this.

Blue was the first to surrender, and kept their hands up even after Red and Green were being beat up. It wasn’t until the gray sticks got a hold of Yellow that they joined the fight. They tried to get a hold of the bar, and it’s very brief but you can see them trying to grab the blue string that got flanged at them before they passed out. Blue was trying to play the situation to their advantage, and then when that didn’t work, tried to use the weapons against their attackers. Blue is resourceful.
