who says 'I love you' first

For me, it’s Nagi.

Reo will hold onto their friendship for as long as Nagi will have him, keeping his true feelings aside where he can’t get hurt again nor push Nagi away. So by the time Nagi asks him out, he’s been waiting long enough to know his feelings go beyond “liking" Reo.

Nagi says I love you in a lot of different ways. When he leans against Reo when they sit together. When he orders takeout from his favorite restaurant. Every time he praises him, even when he’s not around. Reo still needs Nagi to spell it out for him.

"I love you,” he says one evening where they’re watching a movie on Nagi’s computer.

“Aw Nagi, I love you too,” Reo answers with a quick smile.

“No, you’re not listening.” Nagi turns so that he’s fully facing him, waits until Reo’s doing the same. “I love you.”

Realization hits.

Nagi will kiss Reo’s cheeks and think about the contrast between his salty tears and his sweet, welcoming lips.

With his torso freed, he was no longer able to hide all of the damage done to his body. Frank pulled in a sharp breath at the sight of him; the Devil tried not to curl in on himself. Raised scars covered his chest, his back. Countless wounds he had gotten from fights he wished he could forget. But more were the open lacerations, sticky and weeping, that adorned his body. Skin slashed to ribbons, dressed in red. Amidst the cuts ran lines of deep purples and blues. Bruises showered over his ribs - ribs that didn’t look like they were sitting quite right. “Jesus, Red.” he breathed. ---

“Just a few more, Red.” he assured, guiding Matt back down to sit. Frank made sure his legs were mostly extended, and then continued sewing him up. By the time he was done, Matt looked like a well-loved stuffed animal that had previously been chewed up by the family dog. Bandages could wait until he was cleaned up, so with a groan, Frank stood up once again. “Good as new.” he said with a bit of a forced grin. He was lying, he knew Matt would be able to tell, but he said it anyway. “Sure.” Matt responded, the turn of his lip showing Frank that he caught it, maybe even that he appreciated it.

“Floyd, could you sing to me?”

The big brother looked up from where he was tucking the blanket under Branch’s feet. “Sure thing,” he said with a light smile.  “What would you like to hear? A lullaby?”

“I don’t know,” Branch mumbled as he nestled his head into the pillow. “You choose.”

Floyd could still see a crease of worry between his baby brother’s brows. He softly brushed a thumb over it in a silent reassurance that everything was going to be okay before he turned around to reach for their dad’s old guitar.

I think Floyd would often sing to Branch to get him to fall asleep, usually the songs and lullabies their parents sang when the older four were still little.

I know in the movie it seemed like they all left right after their fight, but I like to imagine that they just stormed off to cool off and that they actually left in the following days. And that this was the last song Floyd sang for Branch that night. :')

Ahaha I missed zutara week again this year :'> I was way busier this week than I thought I would be. Thank god my prof moved the deadline cause ain't no way can I finish an animation by tonight ajskaidlsk anyways, since the deadline got moved I decided to take a break from it and draw some zk :>> happy zutara week!!
