"Mmmm, this is SO incredible. I wish I would've transitioned sooner. Being a femboy was fun but now I look so incredible! I'm even hornier than before, and look at these sexy little tits I've grown. My ass is getting fatter, now it's so much more satisfying to get fucked in the ass. Guys go crazy for that extra bit of cushion to pound their cocks into. And with wider hips and a bigger ass, my clothes fit so sexily now. It turned my bony little guy butt into something dudes get hard over in public. They're so much more aggressive now that I look so much more like a girl! They spank me, touch my hips, push their cocks against me. And then we might be standing on a train, or on a subway platform, and they'll put their hands down my jeans or up my skirt, and feel my tiny shrunken cock. They'll smile when they feel it and tell me what a naughty slut I am, some just call me a perverted boy, which I find really hot. Then once they find it they always spin me around and aggressively fuck my ass as a reward for being a naughty little femboy--I mean trans girl! Oops. I'm not gonna lie, though, I already told my doctor I'm bummed my cock shrank four inches. I told him I want a big fat cock that's hard to hide, but I also want bigger boobs and a fatter ass. He upped my doses, so we'll see how sexy I look in another year or two.... wish me luck! ❤️"
Tumblr media
"Feast your eyes on my lovely body two years after my doctor upped my hormones. Notice a couple changes? When he said I'll look just like a woman after taking these hormones for a while, he wasn't kidding! I look like a total cow who's popped out fifty kids. Almost every dude that fucks me now asks how pregnant I am, or how many kids I've pumped out. I try to show them my cock but my belly is soooo heavy it's hard for me to lift! My cock is about fourteen inches but good luck finding it buried under all that fat.
My tits a big and saggy, and my cute bubble butt is now just a pile of lard and cottage cheese. I guess this is what I get for being curious and taking hormones to look more feminine and be more appealing to fuck as a femboy. My doctor is over the moon with my transition, telling me how incredible I look. Whenever I get new sores, or complain that I can hardly get up without help, or my blood pressure is higher, he tells me how much more feminine I'm becoming, because a woman's true role is to become a stationary sex object to be acted on, or some such. I don't disagree but couldn't I be one of those girls pinned to her bed by her giant breasts or something?
I've become so fat doing basic things like bathing or going to the bathroom are becoming impossible. I moved back in with my parents, who love how my transition is going. Guess they always wanted a hugely fat daughter to tend to. Almost all I do is sit at home watching porn as I binge eat. It's not uncommon for me to be woken up by breakfast in bed, then without bathing my parents will guide me downstairs to the couch or chair. They'll bring me more food as they put on porn for me to watch. Ever since I went on all these hormones it's the only thing that can hold my attention span.... I used to jerk off a bunch, but now I groan and wince through heart palpitations and I try to lift my belly and fondle my cock. Sometimes I just push my belly down and kind of 'crush' my cock, which feels really nice.
My parents bring me more food as I make a pool of cum form under me. I'll usually just use the bathroom where I am. It's so gross but I'm getting used to sitting in my own mess for hours a day. My cute butt and tiny cock, now mounds of lard and a rock-hard monster getting caked in my own bodily fluids and excrement as I binge eat and masturbate for hours. Sometimes I eat so much I puke all over my hugely fattened body, and my parents will just smile and bring me more to eat. I guess wanting to be more fem was kind of a double edged sword. It was nice being a curvy 200-300lbs for a while, going to clubs, getting fucked every night. Though a lot of those guys joked and warned me, like a bunch of other trans girls they used to fuck, I'd wind up becoming 700+lbs in no time. I laughed and said there's no way...... I guess this is what I am now. A total pig, pushing her heart to the bursting point just to make her cock cum over and over all day..... what a perfect gooner I've become. No wonder I watch so much porn of hot girls like I used to be just calling the viewer a fat, pathetic slob."

Obey Me Brothers with a Teen!MC that just doesn’t give a damn.
Newest hyperfixation - Obey me bois
Lucifer
When MC's summoned they shows up and once the situation is explained just goes “Sounds good,”
Like, excuse me??? Repeat back everything I just said please “I’m here to attend an exchange program, surrounded by demons that think I’m a whole ass snack” “…” “Now where’s my room?”
At least they won’t have issues adjus- did they just bribe Mammon into making a pact with them?? And piss off Levi?? In the span of a week?
No, MC, you’ve nearly gotten eaten six times this week- GET DOWN FROM DIAVOLO’S SHOULDERS!
Well look at that, MC has a pet cat…oh fuck it ate the couch.
He has his hands full but bitch is too stubborn- sorry, Prideful, to just let this small human die.
And when they make a pact with him he’s just done with their bullshit.
Mammon
He has to babysit a child? Okay, at least they're not asking questions
Hey, give him his credit card back MC! And sTOP SELLING MY STUFF! No, I don’t care if I tried selling your stuff you brat!
By the end of the first week he’s THE big brother tho. MC wants to play pranks? Count him in. Sell a picture of Lucifer they edited to be shirtless? They’re splitting the money 50/50.
He just wishes MC would have some semblance of self-preservation, but nope. MC started a fight with a lower level wrath demon and cut their own hand to taunt it with their blood.
Mammon just threw them over his shoulder and bolted.
Can he just wrap MC in bubble wrap and lock them in the attic?? Please???
Leviathan
Who in their right mind let a normie child down here?
He doesn't like normies, he doesn't like children, so this one is lucky that Lucifer said they can't ea-
"Over 300 hours spent watching anime in my room, I spent 12 hours binging Devilman Crybaby, read all the manga of the anime I've watched plus some, and there was one I locked myself in my room for 2 weeks to binge an anime with over 1000 episodes"
His new bestie!
If MC would even want to be friends with a gross, yucky otaku like him
He will complain about this kid but he'll still abduct MC to binge anime in his room and to game with him
Especially once they have a pact
Satan
Pisses off Lucifer? Check. Gets angry and hits things? Check. Likes cats? Check.
Satan has a new little sibling
He doesn't immediately actually LIKE MC until the entire thing with Lucifer, but hey! He finds them amusing at least
And once he does actually like them and want to be their friend, he's essentially an older sibling to them. Pranks Lucifer, gets them an anti-lucifer league t-shirt, the whole nine yards.
100% straight up kills any demon MC gets in a fight with if they harm MC
Asmodeus
He's not some sort of pedo and you're a liiiiitle too young for him, so he does not flirt
He will, however, give beauty and skincare tips
Also he posts tons of pictures of you on his Devilgram
You're now his honorary baby sister, after all
He coos at you once you manage to summon him when Solomon lends you his magic
And he gets whiny when you get in fights with demons or do stupidly dangerous things because, “MC, you’ll get bruised!”
Beelzebub
Beel is worried
Who let a fragile, little, baby human in here?? You weren't even old enough to legally drink or live by yourself!
He is now your big brother and bodyguard
Has ended up dangling from a balcony by one hand, with the other holding onto one of your knees when he caught you when you decided to jump from it for fun once
He swore to never leave you unsupervised after that, especially not with mammon
And when Belphie killed you? He. Was. Distraught.
His twin killed their new little sibling, he was horrified and ready to cry
Belphegor
At first, he didn't care for you at all. Baby humans are just more gullible.
Then he was annoyed
His brothers rarely left you alone for more than a couple of seconds
Definitely not long enough to get you up the stairs
Once he eventually got you up the stairs? He was just counting down the hours until he could kill you
Even his own twin loved you? How could Beel.
Not to mention, you'd get into a fight with everyone
Belphie does feel bad about it eventually and then starts human preservation tactics:
Napping 🥰
After all, the human can’t
get hurt if they’re asleep, right?

Brettsey + 'that was supposed to be a surprise!'
"That was supposed to be a surprise," Stella mentions as she folds her arms around her chest before sighing.
Sylvie looks at the firefighter then at the supposed surprise in front of her. She blinks a few times to make sure she wasn't seeing things.
Matt was standing in front of her, smiling shyly.
She was at the loft with Stella binge watching season five of Friends when she mentioned something about needing to go to the bathroom. For some reason, Stella tried to steer her into the bathroom in their bedroom but she just laughed it off, saying that she was fine with using the bathroom she always did when she came around.
Huh.
At least now she knew why Stella was acting shifty all afternoon when Sylvie stopped by unannounced with a bag filled with all junk food imaginable - ice cream, brownies, gummy bears, chocolate and a couple of bottles of wine. It had been a week since Stella and Kelly's wedding and exactly a week since she and Matt decided to take a break.
It was a tough decision and all she wanted was some girl time to take her mind off of things and also, maybe to keep her from drunk dialing his number and telling him how much she missed him. She reminded herself that it was for the best. Matt was happy in Portland. He was thriving even. He loved Griffin and Ben and in the short span of time that he had been out there, managed to turn things around for the boys.
Which really did not explain what he was doing here in the middle of a bathroom at the loft in Chicago.
She continues to stare at him wide eyed before Stella sighs again.
"You know what, I think Kelly needs some help at the Academy today so I'm just going to go help him," she says loudly to get both of their attentions.
Sylvie knew it was just an excuse to leave and she begins to feel panic.
"What?" Sylvie questions, whirling around to face her best friend, silently conveying how she could not leave Sylvie alone with Matt. It had only been a week after all. The wound was still fresh. It hadn't even scabbed over yet.
Stella shrugs, "I think Casey has something he needs to tell you in private so I'm just - yeah, I'm gonna go."
Before Sylvie can stop her, Stella grabs her keys and makes her way out, smirking at them before she closes the door.
"I - I think I should go too," Sylvie whispers more to herself really as she looks around.
"Please don't go," Matt replies.
Sylvie glances at him. She can see the vulnerability in his eyes. She knows he's nervous by the way he jams him hands into his pockets.
"What are you doing here, Matt?"
He rakes his fingers through his hair and Sylvie notices how he cut it short again, almost the same length he had before he moved to Portland.
"I came to Chicago to see you but then I realized it would have been stupid to just show up at your door without a plan so I came here instead hoping to convince Severide and Stella to help me out," he informs her.
"Help you out with what?" She asks, her curiosity getting the better of her.
"To think of a way to show you that I don't want to take a break. Stella suggested flooding your apartment with 5,000 daisies but I don't think it would have been very practical," he remarks before chuckling.
Sylvie starts to imagine what 5,000 daisies would look like in her living room before she manages to register Matt's first few words.
She blinks before responding, "you don't want to take a break?"
Matt shakes his head, "I realized right after I left that it was a mistake. Portland is a pit stop, Sylvie. It's a change of pace for sure but it's never going to be my home."
"But you're doing so well there," Sylvie reasons. She's seen first hand how he fit into Oregon - with the Darden boys and at his new firehouse. He had created something so special there.
"I am but it's not the same because a part of me was and is always with you," Matt confesses, "I can spend two and a half more years in Portland because I know that when that ends and hopefully, it ends with Ben in college, it will mean that I can come home - to you. That's always been the plan. My goal was always to come back and spend my life with you."
"Matt."
"I understand if you need some time to think about it. It's a big ask but I love you and I couldn't live with myself if I didn't at least tell you this. I should have told you this when asked me how long we could keep this up at the wedding. Believe me, I'm still kicking myself at my reply. Maybe it was just me spinning out that night - being at Stella and Severide's wedding made me a bit reflective and maybe I thought you deserved more than what I could offer you but then I realized that maybe I could be a bit selfish about the things I want. We've spent so long circling each other and so little time together before this big change but I know what I want," he says as he takes a step closer. When Sylvie doesn't back away, he walks even closer until he's right in front of her and Sylvie can see the freckles on the tip of his nose.
"And what is it that you want?" She asks, her voice challenging.
"You - I want to spend the rest of my life with you, Sylvie and if that means that we need to come up with a weekly FaceTime schedule or I need to book airline tickets 10 months in advance to come to Chicago to see you, I'm willing to put in the work because you are worth it. You are so worth it, Sylvie."
"You flew all the way to tell me this?" Sylvie wonders.
Matt nods, "I didn't want to say it on the phone or through a text because I wanted you to hear it from me personally. I love you, Sylvie."
"I love you too," she replies. She didn't mean to say it but it just slips out. It was so easy to say, like breathing, because it was the truth. She still loved him and the only reason why she asked for a break was because she didn't want some vague future, a perpetual question mark. She didn't need a play by play of the next three years but she at least wanted to know where they were headed and if they were even going in the same direction.
Matt grins at her but she can see that there was still a question in his eyes, "does this mean -"
"Yes," she says.
"Thank God," he utters before leaning in to kiss her.
The next two and a half years would by no means be easy, Sylvie knew, but at least now they were on the same page, reading from the same book.
"Would the 5,000 daisies have worked?"
She laughs, rolling her eyes at him before pulling him back in for another kiss.

I was thinking about this earlier, and you are the perfect person for this ask. What do you suppose are each of the boys' favorite animes? Bonus, what show recommendations does Olive have for them? (I had to include her, I miss her!)
I hope you have a relaxing, restful evening 💜
Ooooh this is a good one!
Nathan: Aggretsuko! I feel like this is an obvious choice, but it just fits so well!
Pickles: Cowboy Beebop. Look, I just feel it in my bones that he would love it. I just know.
Murderface: Berserk, because of course its his favorite. Its dark, its violent, its medieval. Whats not to love?
Toki: Cardcaptor Sakura. Again, another obvious choice, but look. We all know in our hearts its the truth.
Skwisgaar: Castlevania. He is literally Alucard. Plus, I just feel like Skwis has a thing for vampire media. Idk dude, I just get that vibe.
Charles: he doesn't watch anime. Yet.
Olive: she would have soo many recommendations for them! I actually have a few little sub plots of the story already planned out where she introduces them to a few various ones. For exaple:
-coming up in the next couple chapters actually, so mild spoilers, Olive is going to be watching a LOT of Naruto as a coping mechanism, and the boys will get second hand exposure by hanging around her. They will get interested in an arch here and there, but none of them have the patience or attention span to watch the entire series.😂 She will proceed to make salty little remarks for the remainder of the story about how none of them watched it. "Maybe if you had seen Episode xyz of Naurto, this wouldn't have happened.🤷‍♀️"
-Toki being nosey and going through the clothes in her closet, coming across a Sailor Moon cosplay costume from a con she went to previously, and the two end up watching the entire series together over a span of time! Also she may or may not try it on for him😉
-her finding out they havent seen Death Note and being (rightfully) shocked, and they all binge the series together over the course of a couple days, just all glued to the couch. The boys dont really get all the back and forth between L and Light, but the show is dark and intriguing enough and has enough murders to keep them interested. There are jokes made about how Olive sometimes dresses similarly to Misa.
-Olive watching Yugioh, the boys discovring that she played the shit out of Duel Monsters and has binders full of cards. Hijinks insue as she attempts to teach them to play. They watch the dub and all laugh at the 4Kids censoring.
-there will be quite a few others Olive just has on in the background when the guys go bother her or hang out in her room that will snag their attentions to various degrees with varying amount of commentary, such as:
One Piece
Inuyasha
One Punch Man
Kakegurui
Yu Yu Hakusho
Ouran High School Host Club
Samurai Champloo
Love Live
Demon Slayer
K-On

I've joined the Toku fandom on Tumblr a while before the one on Twitter, starting with Kamen Rider, and I still have to say that it's insane how different the Twitter side is from here. I mean, honestly, it's the case with any fandom on Twitter. And in this case, people will be overly toxic with their opinions, annoying, and overanalyze everything, so it is LESS fun to them. Like I'm over here overanalyzing stuff because it gives me joy, and they're doing the exact opposite hdhdhd
I think a great example is Kamen Rider Zero-One. It was my first season since I finally wanted to just get into Kamen Rider, and this season has one of my favourite actors, so I was drawn to that the most. I absolutely loved it, from the obnoxiously long henshin jingles and sequences to the cast of absolutely great characters. Sure, the story was a bit questionable at times and had some boring parts here and there, but that wasn't even half as much as the parts that I really enjoyed. Even now, already a while after finishing this show, I think about my fav characters on the daily. :)
But on Twitter, people will take every bad thing about the show and tear it to shreds, some even actively harassing others that like the season. I've seen posts go like "Man, I really love Zero-One!" And someone will show up in the comments like they just insulted their bloodline like hello this post wasn't even about you 😭
Just taking this season as an example because I've noticed that Twitter, for some reason, declared it the season(™️) to hate on at all times. While... nowhere else I see it to this extent?? If anything, I assumed it to be a rather loved one despite the hiccups it's had.
And the thing is, you can dislike something! I don't care about that, but you don't have to force your opinion on everyone else. Some people are actually so obsessive with the season(s)/character(s) they hate that I feel like they post more about hating it than about the things they enjoy. Where's the logic in that?
This isn't the only season, I've seen it with some others or just random characters in particular. Being in the kpop fandom for a couple of years already, it really just reminds me of kpop stans on Twitter. Having an excuse (thing they like = superior, Thing they dislike = everyone that likes it is a loser) to just pretty much harass people minding their business unprovoked.
Who cares if someone likes a season you don't like?? Let them have fun?? I thought that's the point of a show, to have fun watching it. And if you don't, it's just not your thing.
And don't get me started on that time a bit ago where everyone did different Toku polls. Especially the ship ones, it's insane how toxic the reactions for the results were and how the poll makers often were harassed so much they just took it down???? Hello???? How immature can y'all be? Literally insane kpop stan behavior 😭
While I'm still fairly new to Toku, since there's only so much you have the time for to watch, so far, I haven't had a (Kamen Rider, Sentai) season that I hated or even just disliked. There's always something keeping me hooked and that's why I love it so, so much. Especially because my attention span can go ↘️↘️↘️ very quickly when watching a show, that's why I don't watch that many. But here, I can actually binge watch a lot and it's still fun!
Then, like I mentioned before, overanalyzing everything or trying to see some agenda behind it. It is a show for kids to watch in the morning. Most of the stuff on there really isn't that deep. Obviously, not talking about a deep story since a lot in Toku can be quite deep and/or hard-hitting, but more about motives behind it to portray something weird to the viewers.
At the end of the day, I probably shouldn't care about this all, especially since I've never personally encountered someone starting beef with me for opinions, but I also don't have a big account. It just bothers me whenever I see it, then I go and block/mute accounts involved and go on with my day, I just don't want to see that. There's already SO MUCH negativity out there and I've always been having a hard time irl so I just prefer seeing the positive parts of the fandom, especially because like I said already, hello, it is a kids show? And even if it wasn't, it's not real!! And then, the main point of those shows is spreading positivity, so why are you, a 'fan', acting like a villain of the show 😭😭
I've been on the internet for years, and in hundreds of fandoms. But it's just something I've always hated. Why can't everyone just get along 💀
But well. I guess that's just the weird effect Twitter has on people's brains.

The Sandman rewatch - episode 9
So I like to do this thing where, if I didn’t consider a show a complete waste of time and if it does have an actual arc spanning the season, I watch the season twice–once as a binge watch and then once more episode by episode, because it helps me notice things I didn’t notice at first, especially in cases like this where I’m almost entirely unfamiliar with the source material.
Anyway, any and all chronological thoughts and ramblings about episode 9 of The Sandman beneath the cut, because spoilers.
“I don’t know how she did it, but I think Rose just got Lyta pregnant.” That’s a good way to start a convo, Matthew lol.
I love Lucienne’s malicious compliance with her “new” old role. And Matthew is so offended on her behalf. XD
Okay, so we can expand the list of “people the Corinthian is good with and let’s live” from “like-minded serial killers and gays” to “like-minded serial killers, gays and kids” lol.
This “cereal convention” is honestly the best fictional idea ever. Like, it crosses more lines than a bunch of hopscotching kids. Also, as an avid pun lover myself, I appreciate all the murder puns when Jed and the Corinthian arrive at the convention.
The Good Doctor looking at a fellow criminal chatting up Jed: “You may want to advise him to stay clear of the convention areas” lol.
“Where we’re going, we won’t need to defend ourselves” says Rose heading towards a convention of serial killers XDDDD.
Okay… so Lyta’s pregnancy advanced a couple of months in her dreams…
Hector: “Does this look like a nightmare to you?” Lyta: “Not at all.” Giant cracks in the ground: *looming ominously*
Omg, Dream is so fish-out-of-water asking Lucienne for advice/help lol.
Omg, Unity is so sweet it’s heartbreaking. “I’m going to have a life after all.” You’re killing me here, Unity.
Awww, Rose is worried she and her brother may have changed too much to get along. Understandable. That cut to Jed eating chicken fingers in his bathrobe is gold though.
And of course Jed goes looking for trouble the second he’s unsupervised. This is why I will never have kids.
Alright so, taking Hector out of the dreaming after giving him a chance to say goodbye? Fair. Immediately aftwards telling Lyta that you’ll take away her baby eventually? Kind of a dick move, Dream.
Not gonna lie, Rose this-dream-is-over-ing Dream was kind of badass.
Damn, Rose just casually swiping those tags…
I just LOVE this entire montage of Gilbert checking in on those convention panels. You can see he’s mildly confused in the first one (“Make it pay”, which, if you don’t yet know that they are serial killers, sounds like it could be about animal hunting), somewhat perplexed in the second one (“Woman’s Work”, which sounds mostly innocuous until the mention of “brute force” in the end), and then finally the shoe drops in the last one (“Religion”) and he just has a massive “oh crap” moment.
Oh my god, Philip Sitz has to be THE worst ultra-fan ever. Seriously? Promoting your own blog with your own photo and your own RL name on it when you’re trying to infiltrate a serial killer convention? He couldn’t be more set up to get killed if he was called Leeroy Jenkins and wearing a red shirt.
Also, Gilbert’s look of absolute horror when he sees the Corinthian makes sense when you know that Gilbert is also part of the Dreaming.
Awww, Dream admitting to Lucienne that he was wrong… these two melt my heart. In a strictly platonic way, but still, melting.
So Gilbert left because he wanted to experience life in the human world. Can’t blame him, honestly.
Of course Jed walks in on the Corinthian just as he’s about to kill Philip… and runs straight into Fun Land. Talk about the fish jumping from the frying pan into the fire.
Poor Gilbert learning about Rose being a vortex and that he’s now made it easier for Dream to find and kill her.

A/N:  Usually, my chapters are ~5000 words, but this one is less than 3500. However, that is because I wanted to end the chapter here! I hope you guys enjoy some of this glorious fluff with a short explanation to the reader's backstory. There is more to come and unfortunately it with be rather angsty.
(series masterlist)
You didn’t know what to say and Aizawa didn’t expect you to say anything. He gave you a few moments for the concept to sink in and then he began speaking again.
“Your mother is already on a plane back to the United States. She is in contact with your siblings and even tried calling you a few times.” He paused, debating his next words carefully, “Our goal is to have him think you are still in America. Your family is arranging for there to be a record of you at your old school. Your mother left in hopes to convince your father that she rushed home for you.”
You nodded meekly. It’s not like anything will change if I speak up.
Aizawa sighed. “We are working on our end to get rid of your trace here, but we believe overall that it is safest for you to stay here on campus, surrounded by heroes. What this entails is that you will not be in the limelight at all. You will stay training under me, you will not go out on missions where the public can see you, and you will not participate in the sports festival.”
Aizawa sat down next to you, trying to be as considerate as possible in such a difficult situation.
All you wanted to do right now was call your mom and siblings. You wanted to hear their voices, hear the truth from them, and then have their soothing voices tell you it would all be okay.
“I’m sure you want to talk to your family right now,” Aizawa began as if he was the one who could read your mind, “But you can’t.” He once again rubbed his eyes in irritation at the problem. “If you call them, your number will show outgoing calls from Japan to the United States.”
“I understand,” You solemnly replied.
“However, tomorrow morning, I will be calling your mom with the intention to talk to her about the situation and missing class,” Aizawa explained. “Come to my office half an hour before class and you can talk to her.”
You nodded, trying to comprehend just how important and serious this topic was.
“I don’t expect you to be amazing in class,” Aizawa elaborated, “I know this is a tough situation. However,” He looked into your eyes, “I want you to be there and I want you to keep fighting for your hero education as this gets sorted out.”
You nodded.
Aizawa stood up. “Now, go to bed, get some rest.”
You nodded a final time. “Thank you,” Your meek voice responded, bowing slightly because you knew it was the polite thing to do. You made your way back to the dorm as Aizawa followed behind you.
When you entered, you saw Ashido and Kirishima now in the room with Bakugou, Kaminari, and Sero. However, no one else was there anymore. Briefly, you wondered if your friends, particularly Bakugou, yelled at everyone to get lost.
“Have a good night,” Aizawa said as he left you, closing the door behind him.
Frankly, all you wanted to do was go up to your room, sleep the night away, and talk to your mom in the morning. You hoped everyone could respect that.
Ashido was the first to approach you. They had all been sitting at the usual spot on the dining table. The load wooden chair creaked against the wooden floor, surely adding another scratch to the collection. She rushed over to you and pulled you in quickly for a hug.
It was brief, mainly because you didn’t hug the pink girl back, and she pulled away in concern.
She looked deep into your eyes, unsure what to say.
With the utmost concern and care she could muster, the girl simply asked, “Are you okay? Do you want to be alone?”
“I do,” You mumbled out quickly.
“Of course,” She immediately replied, turning to lead you up to the dorms. She was your escort, and she would make sure no one, not a single soul, bothered you.
As you walked, your eyes wandered to the group. Most of your friends were standing at the edge of the dining room, too scared to enter. Bakugou, on the other hand, stayed in his chair, his eyes never leaving yours.
He looked at you with a serious face and motioned for you to take out your earbud.
You listened and took out one.
Are you okay? You heard his thoughts, much more apparent than anyone else’s, ask.
Not wanting to lie to the blond, you shrugged. You didn’t want to hear anything else, especially because most people’s thoughts were focused on your own situation. You popped the earbud back in as your rounded the corner to the hallway that led to the elevator.
Time passed numbly as Ashido ushered you to your bedroom.
“I’m going to fill up your water and bring you a couple of granola bars in case you get hungry,” She paused to look at you, “Do you need anything else? I could wake you in the morning for class if you’re going.”
“No,” You smiled, “I appreciate you.”
“Of course.” Mina’s tone was much more calm than usual. “Even if I am asleep, feel free to text, call, or bang on my door till I wake up, okay?”
You laughed, “I will.”
Your door shut. You sat down. Minutes later you heard the clink of your water bottle be pressed against your door.
A vibration.
I left it outside your door <3
On your phone were multiple calls and texts. A few from your mom, a few from Aizawa, and a few from Momo and Iida, the class representatives.
You clicked on each, ridding yourself of the red notification bubble. Sighing, you got up to grab your water before going back to bed.
You snuggled yourself into the duvet and attempted to play some videos to distract yourself.
You felt tears prick your eyes multiple times through the night until you finally fell asleep.
~~
When you woke up, you were sweaty. You already had been, but this fresh sweat was most likely the result of a nightmare you already couldn’t remember. Your mouth was dry, and you immediately moved to grab your water. You gulped down half your water in only seconds, thankful that it was filled by Ashido.
It was still dark outside so you grabbed your phone to check the time.
2:19.
If anything you were only asleep for an hour. It had been difficult to fall asleep in the first place, but now it seemed you were being plagued with nightmares.
You pondered if it was better that you didn’t remember what you dreamt. Part of you wished you could.
You sighed into your empty room.
Knowing yourself, if you fell back asleep, you would have the same nightmare.
Maybe I can distract myself for a little bit and try to fall back asleep later.
You looked around your darkroom. But what to do?
Sighing, you stood up from your bed and began grabbing your toiletries. You were much too sweaty for your liking and assumed a nice shower would help calm you down.
Quietly, you slipped downstairs, not using the elevator because you knew it would ‘bing!’ when the doors opened and closed.
Thankfully, the living room and dining room were empty. Your bare feet padded against the hardwood as you made your way to the showers, trying to keep quiet in case anyone heard.
You entered the bathroom, lights switching on immediately due to the motion sensor, and placed your belongings onto the sink counter. You turned to one of the stalls and switched it on before returning to your belongings. As the water heated up, you grabbed your essentials and flung your towel across the tile walls that separated each shower stall. You took off your earbuds and placed them securely into a cloth pouch you attached to your basket.
You peaked around the room, ensuring no one was there, before quickly peeling off your sweaty clothes. You rushed to your stall, closing the curtain, and sighing into the security of a warm water stream.
You took your shower slowly.
You spent your time massaging your head as you applied shampoo. You exfoliated your legs carefully, getting every inch and letting your thoughts fall down the drain with the soapy water. Your mind was clear, and you numbly followed each step meticulously.
It was when you were just about to wash the conditioner out of your hair and get out of the shower that you heard the door click open.
Whoever entered, disturbing your peace, let their heavy toiletries basket fall onto the counter.
I can’t fucking believe it!
It was Bakugou.
Someone else is showering at this time when I wanted to be all alone.
You debated telling him it was you, curious to see if knowing it was you would ease his anger. However, he would also know you could hear his thoughts in these moments.
He turned on the shower that was two away from you. You heard him sigh and pictured the blond rubbing his eyes in frustration.
His thoughts flickered over multiple subjects in the span of seconds. With many people asleep, thoughts were quiet. Bakugou being so close made it easier for you to focus on his thoughts but did not stop your head from hurting slightly.
You weaved around his thoughts, pushing away the passive ones that were simply about turning on the shower, grabbing his shampoo, body wash, and conditioner, and entering the shower. You moved away from his frustration, searching for something more.
Y/N.
More.
Is she okay?
More.
I wonder if she was able to fall asleep.
More.
I wish I ignored stupid pink hair and just went to visit her.
Fuck.
“Bakugou.”
A wave of shock when through him. After a few swears within his head, he finally replied.
“Y/N.” A short pause, “Didn’t I tell you to call me Katsuki?” Another pause, “For practice, I mean.”
You chuckled, running your hair under the water. “No, Bakugou-san, I don’t think you ever did.”
“Tch.”
You heard him open a bottle.
“Well, you can,” He finally said, his voice annoyed, but his thoughts telling you it was a façade.
You didn’t bother replying. Instead, you turned off the water and ringed out what water you could from your hair.
“I’m fine by the way,” You said, interrupting the silence.
You could tell Bakugou wanted to ask some questions, but his thoughts were not directed to you. They were not specifically asking so you didn’t say anything.
You dried off your body and wrapped the large towel around your body before realizing you didn’t bring any spare clothes.
Even worse, you slipped your clothes off and just left them out there. At least, you were smart enough to throw them into your basket of toiletries. Despite that sliver, if silver lining, you still needed to wash your face, brush your teeth, and put some products into your hair. There was no way in hell you were going to put your sweaty clothes back on that you ran in.
Maybe if I work quickly… you reasoned as you secured your towel best you could and proceeded to the sink.
The silence allowed you to work quickly, washing your face and applying products to it while Bakugou simply showered, thinking about how to ask you whatever it is he wanted to ask.
“Can you still hear my thoughts?” He asked out of the blue. Or, at least, it would have been if you didn’t hear his thoughts prior.
“Yes,” You replied as you applied a heavy glob of rose water gel cream to your face and neck.
“Then why aren’t you answering my questions? I know you can hear them?” He inquired.
“Your thoughts are different when you are thinking them and actually talking to me,” You explained, moving on to rapidly put lotion on your exfoliated body. “I don’t answer because they aren’t for me.” You paused, unsure how to phrase this next part, “I don’t want to interfere with your thoughts, I just can’t wear my earbuds when I’m soaking wet.”
His water shut off.
His water shut off and you still had things to do.
You checked your towel, rolling the top over a few times for maximum security.
“You might as well just answer them,” He explained. His green towel disappeared, his hand swiftly grabbing it from the tile walls.
“I’d rather you ask me what you really want to know,” You shot back, “I am not inclined to explain a difficult situation to someone without enough balls to actually ask.”
You could hear Bakugou scoff at the comment.
“No offense,” You added.
A chuckle. “None taken.”
He opened his curtain and stepped out. The blond was wrapped in only a towel, much like yourself, except this one hardly clung to his hips.
You looked away, looked anywhere else, and kept working. Next, your hair.
“It’s fine, you can look,” He teased.
It was a bold comment, but you could tell he was nervous to say it and just as nervous to look at you.
“I could say the same thing,” You looked into his eyes, cautious of his expansive chest. You pointed at your head, “Remember?”
“Tch, how could I forget?” He said, meeting you at the large sinks.
“You should have brought clothes,” You said, continuing the conversation and purposefully moving it away from tonight’s events.
“I could say the same thing,” He repeated, mocking you.
You laughed lightly, “I thought I would be alone.”
“So did I!”
You paused, “Yeah, well I got some pretty bad news tonight so you can’t be angry at me.”
The conversation stopped. Bakugou was tentative to say anything.
“You want me to tell you that badly, huh?” You questioned, looking at him through the mirror.
“You don’t have to,” He quickly replied.
“I know.”
You were done. Teeth brushed. Face fresh with lotion. Hair oil on. You turned to lean against the counter and watched the blond as he brushed his own teeth. You folded your arms, more so for the security of your towel, and for the comfort it would provide you.
“And just so you know,” You began, “I’m not telling you this because I crave attention.”
Bakugou gave you a look, not bothering to reply.
You bit your lip debating where to start. As you thought, your eyes looked over Bakugou’s body, admiring his strict diet and workout regimen. It’s really doing him wonders.
You caught Katsuki’s eyes, and he smirked, knowing exactly what you were doing. He didn’t pressure you to start your story and instead simply looked back into the mirror.
“Anyways,” You began, “My dad broke out of prison and he’s probably going to come looking for me.” You wanted to tell this story quickly, much like how one would rip a band-aid off quickly. “My mom is going back to the United States, and I am staying here because it is safest. However, I can’t do certain things,” You paused, “Like compete in the sports festival, or call anyone.”
Bakugou looked at you, your story clearly processing in his mind. He opened his mouth but closed it after a few moments. You knew what he was going to say though.
I’m sorry you can’t compete in the sports festival.
Albeit a little off-topic, you could tell the comment was coming from a good place. He had been training with you for weeks now in preparation. He also knew that it would be your opportunity to get an internship. However, now there was no possibility of doing that.
After deciding not to say such an oblivious statement, he was unsure what to do.
“It’s fine,” You finally said. “You don’t need to console me of anything.” You sighed, “It’ll be tough, but they will eventually get him, and everything will go back to normal.”
An awkward silence filled the room. Although, it wasn’t silent for you. Bakugou’s mind rushed with thoughts, the most prevalent one being—
“Is he where you got your quirk from?” Bakugou asked.
“Yes,” You answered before adding, “But his abilities are much more fleshed out than mine. He is able to manipulate feelings so strongly, and for so long that it’s basically mind control.”
Not wanting to elaborate, or go into your family history anymore, you began packing up your belongings. Bakugou also seemed ready to go as he began doing the same things.
Motioning to the blond, you finally put your earbuds back in. “You’re free,” You joked, enjoying the silence.
Bakugou snorted through his nose and grabbed his things. He held the door open for you and you each made your way to the elevator. You pointed to the elevator and stairs, silently asking him which one he would rather take.
Bakugou answered by leading the way up the stairs, walking slow enough that you were still able to keep up.
“I’m glad I ran into you tonight,” Bakugou said, breaking the silence. His voice echoed through the hall, making your heart flutter. “I was really worried honestly,” He added, worsening your nerves and making your face heat up.
When you didn’t reply, the blond turned to look at you. He immediately saw your red face and began to get red himself. His lips formed a fine line as he tried to remain serious and not smile.
“Don’t look at me like that!” He exclaimed, turning back around, and speeding up.
“What do you expect me to do?” You replied, “You started it.”
Bakugou scoffed, opening the door to your floor. “Yeah, but I didn’t look at you like—” He wasn’t sure what to say and gestured at you— “That!”
“Like what?” You shot back as you each walked to your rooms.
“You know,” Bakugou grumbled, his face becoming even pinker than it already was.
“But what if I don’t?” You questioned.
“I know you know,” He said, looking at you finally. “Of course you know with how I’m reacting.” Bakugou scowled at you and pouted his lips. “I’ll see you tomorrow, okay?”
You smiled brightly and the blond and nodded your head. “If it helps at all,” You began, “I’m glad I ran into you too.”
Bright red.
He was as red as his eyes.
You smiled even wider, happy to know you could make him react that way.
Before he could close himself away into his room, you decided to add insult to injury.
“It was also really reassuring having you with me when we first got back,” You paused, thinking about what to say. “It may be small, but you really helped me at that moment, especially when you moved me around.” Although you were doing this to get a reaction out of the blond, it was also an embarrassing moment for you. Neither of you was outright saying that you liked the other, but you were getting quite close to it. “I’m also really glad you yelled at everyone to leave so it wasn’t super crowded when I got back.” You thought for a moment, “At least I think you did.” A smile graced your face that would have anyone starstruck.
Bakugou stared at you like a deer in headlights. His eyes were wide, his face was red, and he could hardly move. It felt rather funny, each of you standing there in only a towel as you proclaim something so personal. Your arms held onto the top of your towel and Bakugou’s hung loosely by his hips.
For a moment, you imagined the garb falling off. It was a hilarious image and you knew the both of you would be nervous, but the way it hung really teased the idea of it.
It took a few moments, in which he stared directly at you, for him to regain his motor skills. With a ‘Wshh!’ of the door he was gone, tucked away in his small dorm.
You smiled to yourself, happy with how tonight played out. Even if your family was fighting for you, even if you had to fear your father showing up at any minute, it felt good to have a silly little high school romance. It made your life feel normal, it made your heartbeat incessantly, and it made you crave more time with the stubborn blond who stole your heart.
Once back in your room, you bit your bottom lip, trying to tame your smile. You change into some pajamas and make sure your alarm was set for the next day. You didn’t need to work out, but you needed to get to class early so you could talk to your mom. You were happy, really happy. Despite everything, your day was an overall great day and you knew it was all thanks to Bakugou.

Electricity Chapter 1
Tumblr media
Summary: For the first time in her life, Melody Williams is moving out of her hometown to Minnesota where she got a job as a crime journalist for the Minnesota Daily. But this city does not only have a new job for her to offer. What will happen when she crosses paths with detective Walter Marshall? Heads up, a little electricity is involved ✨
Walter Marshall x Melody Williams (curvy OFC)
Warnings: none
Wordcount: 2.5k
A/N: So, I wrote something for the first time 👀 Pls be kind haha. This is written with a plus size/curvy OFC in mind because all my curvy babes, like me, deserve some love 😘
“Thanks for calling me. I will call you back with my decision soon.” I hung up the phone and stared at it in my hand. A woman from the newspaper in the city a few towns over had just called, telling me they were offering me a job at their crime department. I sat at my desk at my current job, a local journalist for my hometown newspaper. I started working there during college and they offered a job after I finished. I happily accepted, because that meant I could move out of my lovely parents’ house and start my own life.
As I sat at my desk I realized I had never really left this town, and I had always fantasized what it would be like to live and work in a different town. I loved my hometown, don’t get me wrong, but it is small and everyone knows each other. Every day is basically the same here. Miss Johnson walks her dog at exact 3pm, the Millers go to the supermarket at 4pm to buy dinner and the whole town eats at Al’s diner every Sunday.
Also, the men in this town aren’t something to write home about. The decent men are taken by the perfect housewives and the ones who are left, are the type of guys who you don’t want to meet in a dark alley. And unfortunately, no nice men have decided to move here in the last couple of years. The only guy I dated (we were only together for a couple of months) decided I wasn’t good enough and eloped with a pretty, skinny blonde bitch.
While the town doesn’t seem to change, neither does my job. I have been covering the local news for a couple of years now, and it feels like I have been doing the same thing over and over again. Nothing really happens here, and honestly it makes me feel stuck at my job. I feel like my job and this place aren’t helping me to move further. I want to learn more and see something else than this town.
Still staring at the phone in my hand realization washed over me. This was my way out. This phone call could change everything. Not thinking twice, I called the woman (I had forgotten her name, Stacy apparently) back telling her I was accepting their offer. This was my chance of starting something new.
Tumblr media
In the weeks after the call, I quit my job and started looking for a new place. Luckily, I found a cosy, affordable apartment. Not too big, not too small. Perfect for me and only me. Not wanting to wait, I moved in quickly with the help of my parents and made the place feel a little like home.
It was a cute apartment with one bedroom and a tiny kitchen. I had everything I needed. A comfy couch, my kettle, my books, a tv for my binge-watching nights and lots of cosy blankets and throw pillows.
After moving in and settling down, I finally had a chance to decorate the place with a lot of fairy lights and plants. I stood in the middle of the living area, wiping some sweat of my face after moving around some heavy plants. Yeah, this is starting to look like home. I thought as I looked around the living area, satisfied with the work I did.
I sat down on my couch and looked at the clock on the wall. It was 8pm. I was tired and hadn’t eaten yet. Tomorrow was my first day at the Minnesota Daily and I couldn’t wait. I was a little nervous, but because I was so tired, I didn’t have the energy to be too nervous or to make dinner.
I decided to make a grilled cheese sandwich and go to bed early. Tomorrow was the first day of a new start and I needed to look good. Might need a full 12 hours of sleep if I want to look a little decent, I thought to myself as I stared into the mirror and noticed my messy hair and the bags under my eyes.
After I ate my ‘dinner’ (I decided two grilled cheese sandwiches counted as dinner), I went to my bedroom and picked an outfit for tomorrow. A simple jeans and a baby blue blouse would do it. Afterwards I brushed my teeth and removed my make up. I put on my pyjamas and fell asleep as soon as my head hit my pillow.
Tumblr media
After parking my car in the parking garage underneath the building the Minnesota Daily is located, I checked my make up one last time in the rear-view mirror. No uneven eyebrows and no smudges of mascara. Let’s go make a good first impression.
I stepped out of the car and grabbed my purse. I walked out of the parking garage and made my way to the front desk where I was greeted by a friendly older looking receptionist.
“Hi, I’m Melody! It is my first day here and I was told to ask for Stacy,” I said.
“Welcome dear! I’ll let Stacy know you’re here! She’ll be here in a sec,” she said with a smile. I nodded and looked around. People were walking in and out of the building, most of them talking on the phone. They all looked like they were in a rush.
Stacy appeared within a minute. She was taller than me, and I’m not exactly tiny, and her long brown hair was tied up in a bun. She walked towards me with her hand reached out and I quickly took it.
“Hi, you must be Melody! I’m Stacy, but everyone calls me Stace. Come, follow me, I’ll show you where we will be working!” she said while we walked to the elevator. While the elevator brought us to the 8th floor, she asked me how my new apartment was and if I liked the city. Before I knew it, the elevator reached the 8th floor.
“Everyone, pay attention! This is Melody and she will be joining our department as you all know,” Stacy practically yelled the second we left the elevator. I already saw some friendly faces looking at me. “Hi, I am Melody, but please call me Mel,” I said while Stacy walked over to a desk and started to introduce me to my new co-workers.
After I met everyone from the crime department, I made my way towards my new desk. Everyone seemed friendly and there was a relaxed atmosphere. Which was a little surprising to me considering this was the crime department. I looked around and thought: yeah, I made the right call to accept this offer.
Yet, I had no idea what this town had to offer me. Or better said, who.
Tumblr media
In the first week I worked there I became friends with some of my co-workers. Carmen Garcia practically forced me to go to lunch with her and Gia Park on my first day. They had both been working at the Minnesota Daily for a couple of years now and they were one of the few women in the department. So, they were glad I was recruited to give them another ally in the office.
While we had lunch, they informed me about everything I needed to know. “You seriously need to stay away from creepy Greg, he works for the finance section. Make sure you never go down there alone. He always looks at women like he wants to drag them into an empty alley,” Gia said while pretending to throw up.
“Oh, he is the worst! But Megan, the receptionist, is the best ever. She is so sweet and kind. If you ever need anything, just ask her and she will help you,” Carmen added.
“Definitely! And if you ever need free tickets for a sports game, just let me know and we will visit the guys from the sport section,” Gia told me with a wink.
“I will keep all of this in mind,” I said while taking a sip from my cappuccino. “but tell me something about yourselves!”
Next thing I knew Carmen and Gia told me where they grew up, where they went to school and how they ended up working for the Minnesota Daily. I noticed how easy it was to talk to these girls and we had a good laugh while they told me about their most recent dating disasters. I nearly spilled my cappuccino not once or twice, but thrice while Carmen told me about how she escaped from one of her dates through the bathroom window.
Tumblr media
During my first week I spend a lot of time with them. I helped them finish their articles and I got to know them pretty well. Carmen is tough, but sweet and straightforward, while Gia is soft and has a very short span of attention while working. She has visited my desk every half hour just to “catch up”. But I didn’t complain. It was nice to have them as my co-workers, although they began to feel more like friends.
It felt like my life fell into place again. I was making new friends, and I did a pretty good job so far.  Still, sometimes I forgot to do basis tasks like getting groceries. So now I was parking my car in the parking lot of the grocery store.
As soon as I stepped out, I felt the cold chilly air around me, making me pull my leather jacket closer around my body. Hastily I stepped through the doors of the store just a few minutes before they would close. Quickly I grabbed a basket, knowing I should grab a cart, and started to walk through the aisles.
It was quiet inside, just a few people were doing some last-minute shopping like me. I waved hello to the woman at the cash register as I made my way to the first aisle.
So just the basics, some bread, apples, veggies, chocolate. Hmm maybe no chocolate. Okay yes, some chocolate. I deserve it today. What else, milk and cereal obviously. Girl gotta eat some breakfast. I thought as I threw some products in my already way too full basket and made my way to the cereal aisle. I walked passed the apples and picked some up, holding them in my hands.
Walking through the aisle I stopped in front of the many boxes of cereal. Above me I noticed a flickering lightbulb, reminding me I still needed to watch the last episode of Stranger Things. Maybe I should watch it tonight.
Staring at all the different kinds of cereal, I couldn’t decide which one I wanted. After a minute of just staring at the boxes lost in my own world, I grabbed one.
Except, I suddenly wasn’t the only one. Quickly I turned around and bumped into a warm, broad chest which made me drop the apples I was carrying. “Oh shit,” I whispered before I looked up into the most beautiful blue eyes I had ever seen and stared at the man. He had a beard and dark, brown curls. One of the curls dangled in front of his eyes and I had to fight the urge to not wipe it out of his face.
“It didn’t look like you were going to make a decision soon, so I just grabbed the one I wanted,” he said while crouching down to pick up the fallen apples.
“Oh no, no it’s fine,” I stammered, completely overwhelmed by him. “I guess I was zoned out there for a moment.”
While he was picking up the apples, I decided to take a quick look at him. He was a tall, big man wearing a dark blue sweater. Damn it, he is gorgeous. Don’t mind bumping into him more often.. no don’t go there, pull yourself together! I thought as I felt my cheeks burning all of a sudden. I couldn’t even remember the last time I talked to a man this handsome. Get it together Mel.
As he stood up and handed me the apples, I noticed how tired he looked. There were dark circles underneath his eyes, making me wonder when it was the last time he had a decent amount of sleep. Or if he ever had a decent night of sleep.
“Thank you for picking these up,” I said while holding up the apples, making them almost fall again. His reflexes were fast as he grabbed my elbow, helping me keep the apples balanced. The warmth of his hand made my legs suddenly feel a little weak.
“No problem,” he chuckled tiredly making me smile a little. “Maybe you should have gotten a cart instead of a basket, might be easier,” he said while still holding onto my elbow. He pointed with his other hand to my basket that was way too full.
“You are probably right, but my stubborn ass thought I could carry it all, so here we are,” I answered with a timed laugh, feeling a little embarrassed. He looked at me with those blue eyes and I noticed he had a “don’t mess with me” vibe, that somehow made me feel safe.
As I looked at his hand on my elbow, I suddenly became aware of how close he was. I could smell his musky cologne. He noticed I looked at his hand, and he abruptly let go of me while taking a step back. I immediately missed the warmth of his hand.
“I, uh, I need to go. Take care and don’t drop those again,” he told me with a small smile pointing at the apples in my hands. He grabbed his own basket and started to walk away. As he walked away, I took a good look of him. He was a very muscular man, and I took a mental picture of his ass because that was a sight I did not want to forget. I must tell Carmen and Gia about this.
“I can’t promise that, but I will try my hardest,” I laughed, knowing I would probably drop them again soon. “See you around?” I asked him. Surprised by my own boldness I nearly sank through the floor out of embarrassment.
He looked back at me with those beautiful blue eyes and I felt a spark of electricity going through my spine. “I hope so,” he said with a smirk before he shook his head and turned the corner leaving me speechless in the cereal aisle.
I stood there for another minute while coming back to my senses. My cheeks stopped burning and I realized I had not embarrassed myself that much. I smiled to myself and pictured the smirk he gave me in my head. Then the announcement that the store was about to close in a few minutes blared through the speakers, reminding me I still had to collect some groceries.
Quickly I grabbed the rest of the groceries and headed towards the cash register hoping to see him one more time. Unfortunately, he was nowhere to be found.
I paid for the groceries and walked to my car. Loading the groceries in the trunk I nearly dropped the apples again. Told you, I thought while closing the trunk. It was getting dark and colder outside so I wasted no more time and drove home.
While driving home I realized the mistake I made.
Damn, I should’ve asked his name.

I’ve been reading posts in reaction to the Penalteam trailer, including yours, and I don’t want this to come across as salt or anything, but I think I finally realized my biggest issue with the conversations older fans of this show are having.
Not to sound like a boomer, but modern media consumption has evolved to rely heavily on binging, like Netflix originals that drop a whole season at once. This is the new standard, and I feel like that may have a hand in causing this problem:
People reaaallly want instant gratification. Miraculous airs about two episodes per month on average with hiatuses between seasons and a few in the middle. The show is currently renewed for seven seasons, and we’re only just finishing the fourth. Season five and six are in the works right now. When people discuss Miraculous, I think the biggest nuance that they’re missing is the stuff that simply has not happened yet. Obviously, there’s some things in the story that were clearly not planned for in previous seasons, but there are also things that were clearly planned way ahead of time, even from the very beginning.
I’m annoyed by Tom of Ass Truck as much as the next person, but I can’t help but agree with him on a couple of the comments he makes frequently. 1) pay attention to everything that happens and 2) just sit down and wait. Don’t complain about things that you simply haven’t seen yet. He’s a huge man baby about it, but if I were him I’d be annoyed, too.
The show takes a very long time to come out, but from the in-universe perspective, it hasn’t been a long time at all, and the story is only a bit over halfway over.
“This supporting character is underdeveloped” they’ve been steadily growing as a person from the start until now, but their arc isn’t done yet. “This character is being sidelined” it’s on purpose. It’s for an overarching plot line. It will be resolved at the end. “This new character has no appeal” they were just introduced. They haven’t had any development yet. “The writers clearly hate/don’t care about this character” just because they’re in a rough patch for plot reasons doesn’t mean the writers are cathartically torturing them for fun? “This character is irrelevant and I’ve never cared about them. Why are they suddenly getting focus instead of the characters I already like?” Because their story is really only just starting. “This change came out of nowhere” it’s been subtly building up for a long time. “They’re retconning development” the character is responding to the things happening around them. People don’t magically mature with no ups and downs.
I understand that the writers do stupid stuff that makes no sense on occasion, but a lot of the time I find that people have comically little faith in these grown, educated adults with jobs writing the story for a children’s cartoon. They say things like, “oh, the writers are way too stupid to come up with *the most obvious thing ever*” or “they suck at their jobs so they steal stuff from the fandom” and then the example is something that the fandom only came up with in response to a clear canon setup for the event, which was already written in advance anyways. They don’t sit down and think about what could happen next each episode like fans do, they write at least general plot points that span seasons.
What I’m saying is, I wish that when people complained about the story, they didn’t complain about things that simply haven’t happened yet. Think about it. Some of the most widely salted long-term writing things are clear setups for permanent change... in the future. The season isn’t over yet. The show is far from over, but everyone wants each problem solved in the episode it started from, and everything to happen at once. Each character needs to have one life-changing development in a short period of time. They need to get angsty, but not too angsty for too long, so they have to fix it fifteen minutes later. If a subplot is only referenced at a “convenient” time, it’s bad writing. The characters need to be nuanced people who mess up sometimes, but they can’t mess up too bad or else they’re bad people or the writers hate them. But if they do everything right then they’re Mary Sues and they’re the writers’ favorites who get away with everything. If the writers don’t read my mind and make the story go in the direction I’ve been imagining in my head, it’s bad.
I wish that big part of the fandom had a little faith in the story, especially the things that are obviously in progress at the moment. If only they considered how little time it’s been in canon and how long ago in real time the writers came up with it. If only they listened to Thomas exactly once and waited, paying attention to the subtle details in the meantime, for episodes to actually come out. For things to happen, change, become permanent, become the new normal, and start for the first time. Please don’t let the desire for instant gratification distract you from a show a long time in the making.
On the one hand: Yes, and I absolutely hear this, and I absolutely don't like that this season ended up being aired out of all and any order after the writers had gone and especially stated that this was the one where chronology counted. And as I hope I've made clear before (I mean, at least to people who follow me here), it's not that I think the show in general is poorly written, because it's excellent at being an episodic action rom-com.
But on the other hand: Zoé being introduced out of thin air and given a miraculous the very next episode will never be a thing that's going to "make sense in the end". Zoé's existence? Yes. Zoé being Vesperia? I'm sure. But the way she entered the story will NEVER be objectively good writing, and going by what we now know about "Penalteam", it wasn't a standalone accident.
I specifically complained about this because second only to Chloé herself (and arguably Adrien), Sabrina is the character who above all would have to prove herself worthy of using a miraculous. Not only because of Sabrina's in-series relationship to Chloé which by all logic would have to change by this development, but because the way the show has always treated Sabrina until now has been as "pitiful Chloe lite", an extended laughing stock to Chloé's comedy. But unless "Quilin" and "Kuro Neko" have some very unexpected things happening, that development never happened, and the girl who helped Chloé try to get Adrien taken out of school gets a miraculous because Marinette was running out of classmates.
The show is excellent at the singular episodes. But if it's going to make the claims at longer storylines, these longer storylines need some logic as they happen, not just explode all at once in the finale.

Astrology
Independent Aries and collaborative Libra form a funny sort of friendship.
Aries tries convincing Libra to take chances, shake off criticism, and be more direct.
Libra constantly tells Aries to slow down, smell the flowers, and be more appreciative.
It's an odd couple type of relationship that can work extremely well.
Aries can learn the fine art of diplomacy from Libra, while Libra may become more assertive thanks to Aries.
While the Aries and the Libra are opposing each other from an astrological point of view, they can still become friends very fast.
The Aries admires how the Libra is graceful, stylish and funny, while the other way around, the latter truly likes how determined to take part in new adventures and always courageous their friend is.
Of course, the friendship between these two will sometimes be challenging because the Aries can get hurt seeing the Libra is flighty, while the latter may not like the way the former is pushy.
However, these two can easily make up and neither of them likes to hold a grudge.

I Promised You The Moon rant
Just binged it and this was from the episode by episode reaction/discussion with my partner in crime @glossyboy.
First of all, Oab stole the show, singlehandedly, which he's not supposed to. I don't think anyone expected it including himself. In the very top post when I searched his name on tumblr, he said this lol
Tumblr media
But the truth is he played one hell of "villain" that required a very nuanced performance and he delivered it in a believable and graceful manner. Jai became the catalyst of the entire season and his rather complicated relationship with Teh was the highlight of part 2.
EP 1
From the very beginning it's clear that part 2 is very much a Teh's story rather than a balanced story about two young people's journey as a couple in the next chapter of their lives. It makes me uncomfortable they made Oh-aew clingy and pessimistic without giving him any character development.
The best part is probably the opening scene where they went paper-rock-scissors to decide who's gonna buy condoms. It felt authentic, the expectation, the hesitation, the mischievous act, all fits their characters well. Other times ep 1 was more like two adult kids playing house, literally in an empty giant ass upper middle class apartment.
EP 2
It's great that they poked the femininity vs. masculinity issue through Oh-aew, but stopped right there at the surface. Missed a perfect opportunity to go head-to-head with the controversial topic, start a debate, crush the stigma of femininity, bring something new, be a real game changer of the BL genre, and most importantly give Oh-aew some concrete character development. Part 1 showed us a gay character that's very comfortable with his sexuality and femininity, that's almost revolutionary in Asia, not as a comic relief but a leading role. Oh-aew questioned his own sexual identity once in that bra wearing scene, it's straight out of comfort zone, BOLD, and transgressive. So I expected more from part 2.
That's it? And they're already sophomores? Can't believe Oh-aew's character has been marginalized like this. It's pathetic.
But I love the brutally honest conversation at the end where Teh vented his rage and despair regarding his frustration of acting. He was acting like a dick because he's disappointed, and scared. Teh again was not afraid of showing vulnerability, making the reconciliation very realistic and touching.
EP 3
Dare I say I freaking love ep 3! The unresolved (partially sexual, but not entirely) tension between Teh and Jai was over the roof! And the built-up to their kiss was very authentic, which paled Teh and Oh-aew's much sidelined storyline, including the long anticipated sex scene (still can't believe it happened right after Jai explicitly instructed Teh to do it after the two spent a whole night bonding, like wow! Totally TRANSGRESSIVE and to some extent, kinky.) Teh looked up to the senior, idolized him, wanted to be good for him and make him proud, thirsted for the validation from him, which was mixed with affections. The workshop diary was a brilliant idea to let them open up to each other and eventually bring them close. This was what a meaningful arc of a story looked like. By contrast, there isn't a single moment between Oh-aew and Teh in part 2 that made me go "Damn it's soooooo hot!"
I know Jai/Teh wasn't the endgame but I appreciate the storyline so much. It's a very bold move considering it broke the over-glorified "one true love in one's life" fantasy of its target audience, mostly young cis women. The popular narrative of "you can only love one person through your life/one true love" in romance fictions/chick flicks was totally smashed. And it wasn't written just to stir up things between Teh and Oh-aew, it wasn't a silly fling. Instead, it's meaningful, complicated, natural, and realistic, delivered by nuanced and excellent acting from two young actors. It's hilarious that fans hate Jai with a passion and call him names.
And big news, Jai is bi?! Bravo! He's radiating bi vibes since his first appearance.
I kind of gave up at this point, the season wouldn't do Oh-aew any justice. Like my partner in crime pointed out, the costume design literally threw some "incongruous female fashion pieces" on Oh-aew, made him dye his hair red, without...making any actual point of his personality or his character development. Wardrobe was supposed to make a point in storytelling. Yes, PP wearing pink is cute, and? There's nothing else for Oh-aew. Unfortunately he's reduced to this sulky, crying, and wronged partner in a failing relationship.
EP 4
Oab again was killing it. The tension between Jai and Teh...from the rehearsal in front of Oh-aew to the dressing room pep talk, was incredibly intense and hot AF.
Was it a manipulative relationship after all? Oab was so good at conveying a character with many faces. Jai's a mentor to Teh, also a good friend, their relationship was genuine. He's also ambitious with his own goals, he used, challenged, provoked Teh in a way that benefited them both. It made sense the title of part 2, I Promised You The Moon, was from Jai's script. He promised Teh what the junior wanted the most, a bright future in acting. Teh's unconventional and unspoken feelings for Jai was the best part of the entire season in terms of creative writing, it's complicated, fragile, delicate and completely heartbreaking.
The after talk in the hallway was so well-written. It's funny (Teh joking about playwrights always write about their EXs is gold), intimate yet meticulously controlled, no one lashed out or wept. Both knew what they signed up for and Jai particularly made it clear about his motive and the purpose of the "special workshop" beforehand (or right away.) Yet it's no one's fault that Teh got carried away. He's younger, he's immature, he's more into it, it's totally natural. It's so romantic when Teh's singing karaoke in the bar with Oh-aew, yet he couldn't help but desperately staring at Jai on the floor, knowing he and the man who just turned him down were never gonna happen, they were done, but he's still madly attracted to him and his talent. He fancied Jai, at least the idea of Jai, a playwright, a director, someone knew him better than himself. That hurt beautifully.
EP 5
Teh/Oh-aew endgame at this point was pretty meaningless. Oh-aew as a leading character never got any solid character development over a span of four years. What happened between Jai and Teh wasn't just "cheating", though they surely made it look that way, like Teh's empty promise of "I won't see him again after the show ends". No matter how Oh-aew and Teh eventually reconciled, there's no emotional connection, no sparkle anymore between the couple.
But I knew for a fact they had to. Otherwise it's too much of a risk financially for the series. The creators had to take the easy way out like most traditional romances—one of the most contrived and formulaic trope where the male leading character made a mistake (usually cheating) and realized he's wrong, he deeply hurt the female leading character (Oh-aew was merely a girl substitute in part 2), then he completely changed for hell knew what reasons, started doing every nicest thing in the world to try to "win" the female character back. It has been feeding the emotionally-deprived cis female readers/audience who are frustrated with heterosexual relationship irl for decades. The formula that made romance outsell other genres of fictions combined in the 60s and 70s still sells today, under the name of boys' love. It's pathetic to see Oh-aew confess to Bas that he always "lost" to Teh. Love shouldn't be some kind of game or competition, there isn't winner or loser in love. Love is spontaneous. Oh-aew didn't lose because Teh developed feelings for someone else, and he didn't win when Teh begged him for reconciliation. People change, people move on.
And as predicted, they went for it. The ending was so absurd and tedious.
Overall, Jai's probably the hardest villain to play, he needed to be REALLY GOOD to be "the bad guy", to make his role conceivable. Oab absolutely nailed it with his talent and experience. He's not even my type or extremely good looking yet I'm 100% SOLD. I immediately re-watched the scene of him kissing Teh back hungrily at the end of ep 3 like I used to re-watch Teh/Oh-aew's steamy make out session at the end of episode 3 part 1. Coincidence?
I like some parts of both seasons for the same reason, each challenged and tried to break some outdated/contrived narratives in the BL genre. Part 1 took on the sexuality taboo by showing two same sex characters sexually attracted to each other, no more "I'm not into boys, I just happened to fall for someone of the same gender" or "pure love" bullshit. By staying true to the characters' sexuality and actually showing it with explicit, intense (and beautifully shot) scenes, the gay characters were normalized. They weren't just pure and innocent, no one was. And it created two of most unconventional gay characters in Asian pop culture, Oh-aew, a beautiful boy who's very comfortable with his own sexuality and femininity, not passive at all, taking initiative to pursue what he wanted; and Teh, a sensitive, caring and vulnerable boy who cried a lot, he's confused but also sweet and brave.
Part 2 tackled the "You can only love one person through your life" trope with a very nuanced story of "cheating". Yet neither carried out what they started. Part 1 fell short of a revolutionary piece that stayed true to "adolescent sexual turmoil", dismissing bisexuality and becoming a typical unrealistic BL fantasy in the end. And Part 2, ugh, forced a "happy ending" that almost no one digs. I understand it's extremely difficult and risky to disrupt the established norms of a genre. But sometimes being transgressive and progressive could be the same thing. A story, an artwork, has to challenge something in order to create something new and compelling.

Beth/Daryl Fanfiction Recommendations 2021
Alternative Universe
Call me friend but keep me close – Pietromavximoff
E | Friends to FWB, FWB to lovers, secret relationship, Slow burn| 105k
When Beth Greene starts University and is away from home for the first time since her Mother’s death the freedom and independence could lead her to party and get drunk as most college students do, but Beth isn’t wanting that.  Instead while focusing on her studies in a bar that’s quiet during the day Beth befriends Daryl Dixon a Bartender who is always there to intercept when college boys hit on her.
I loved this fic, the FWB into lovers trope is something I absolutely adore being explored and I don’t think I have seen it in the Bethyl fandom till reading this one.  The writing was really detailed and I loved living in the characters head during the couple of days that I binge read it.   I read this fic while I was in hospital for an endometriosis flare up and was alone as my fiancé couldn’t stay the night and honestly these characters really gave me comfort and positivity while I was going through that J
I’ll be yours for a song – dynamicsymmetry
E | Slow Burn, Friends to lovers, Coming of age, Mental health, Smut, Healing, Demisexuality | 381k
Authors Summary: “In a small town where he doesn’t expect to stay long, Daryl Dixon comes across a girl walking by the side of the road at two in the morning, soaked to the skin.  He could offer to drive her home.  But he very much wants to not seem like a creep.  He also doesn’t want to leave her there.
He has no idea what he’s getting into”
This story really has left an impact on myself long after I finished reading it.   You can tell that a lot went into the writing of this fic and the prose is so beautifully real and honest from Daryl’s perspective.  The growth that Daryl shows in this story is at times hard to read but as someone who has gone through similar situations and mental health issues to the characters I really believe that what is represented in this story is authentic and an important exploration into how trauma impacts your relationships in your life good/bad.
Big Hands, I know You’re the One – gutsforgarters
E | Daddy Kink, light dom/sub, smut, Porn with plot in the best way 18k
Beth Greene is a girl on a mission.  While on vacation with Rick Grimes and his family she just can’t get a certain muscly man out of her mind so why not just go for it?
Oh I could read gutsforgarters stories over and over and never get bored.  I just love her AU Beth/Daryl so much.  This story is light and sexy and captures those fun moments in the honeymoon period really well.  And this story really got me into reading more Bethyl Daddy kink and loving that so there you go…(if you know you know, and if you don’t honestly give it a crack and you just might enjoy it ;))
Canon Divergence & TWD universe era
Lament – Saya087
E | Reunion, fix-it, season 6 era, happy ending, Grief/mourning | 16k
Inspired by 6x10 when Daryl begs Rick not to play the CD.  While at Hilltop Daryl gets reunited with someone he thought he would never see again.
This little story really got me in the feels and was oh so sweet.  I have found myself reading more and more ‘fix-it’ fics especially after the 10c episodes.
The Broken Ones Series - Badboy_fangirl
E | Reunion, fix-it, picks up post s4, domestic fic | 57k
Authors Summary: “After Daryl goes through some pretty heavy shit, he gets reunited with Beth.”
This series written in 2014 is a really fantastic look at how the show could’ve explored Beth and Daryl is they hadn’t fucked up.  I love the AU universe the author has built and imagined up as it is the perfect setting to explore Bethyl in a domestic setting while still existing in TWD universe.
It’s going to take you people years to recover from all of the damage – Wandering_gypsea_feet
General Audiences |Reunions, fix-its, Team defiance, multi character perspectives | 62k
Authors Summary: “But there’s going to be a party when the wolf comes home.
One’shots focused on how Beth Greene might make it back to her family and different reunions spanning season 5 to season 10, leaning heavily on theories, thoughts and wishes.  Looking at how her family would get her back and how they’d react to our girl.  Different POVs each chapter.”
Oh I loved reading this authors updates of this story and seeing what she would explore next! I loved hearing the perspective from so many different characters and how they interpret Daryl and Beth and each characters reaction was so sweet and funny at times.   Fingers crossed for season 11 to see if they will bring Beth back!
Endurance - SpicyPepper_SweetSugar
M | Angst, Darkfic, check tags for TW, Savior Beth, Negan| 135k - WIP (last updated 2016)
Authors Summary: “Three years have passed since Daryl and the others arrived at the ASZ.  The community is now lead by Rick and Deanna together as they try and keep the balance of living and surviving.  When a new threat arises, however.  Daryl is forced to face the past that he has been trying to put behind, because on the side of the enemy, a familiar face can be seen.”
So this is a fic with dark themes so please check the tags before reading.  I really enjoyed this fic for its commentary on PTSD, mental health and trauma on Beth.  This fic really explores the concept of Beth not wanting to return to her family even though she has the chance and why that could possibly be.  While some of the characterisation could be deemed ooc I really enjoyed what the author was doing in exploring such traumatic impacts on character and how that would result in shifting personalities and core belief systems and values.
Okay so that is it for now J I have seriously enjoyed being a part of the Bethyl fandom over the last few months since discovering it.  It has such amazingly talented writers and I truly feel so lucky to be able to read so many stories about characters I love in such dynamic and interesting ways.  I have been feeling really inspired to get writing myself (something that I have never felt before in any of my previous fandoms) because of this fandom and that has become such a fan and therapeutic outlet for me over the last month or so.  I am excited to just be here and enjoying it J

Tumblr media
Old School X is a project interviewing X-Files fanfic authors who were posting fic during the original run of the show. New interviews are posted every Tuesday.
Interview with Circe Invidiosa
Circe Invidiosa has 11 stories at Gossamer, but there are even more X-Files stories at her website. Some of my favs I’ve recced here before, like Make It Worse and Slap a Goatee On Me and Call Me Evil. She also made a bunch of X-Files collage art, including some cover art for fics (hers and others), which you probably saw if you were reading fic back when authors posted fics on their own websites where art could be shared. Big thanks to Circe Invidiosa for doing this interview.
Does it surprise you that people are still interested in reading your X-Files fanfics and others that were posted during the original run of the show (1993-2002)?
Well, it would surprise me if people did read my fic. As it happens, I don't hear much feedback from my fic these days. Probably because the bulk of it is on Gossamer and my own site rather than AO3. Also, I was never a BNA. I worked a lot behind the scenes – hosting other authors' sites and making fanart and dustjackets. I think that's what I'd be remembered for, if anything.
What do you think of when you think about your X-Files fandom experience?
I miss the collective excitement and discussions we had as groups. When you got in with a group in the XF fandom, you felt like you knew everybody there. Now the fandom feels a little faceless except for the people I still follow from my old groups.
Social media didn't really exist during the show's original run. How were you most involved with the X-Files online (atxc, message board, email mailing list, etc.)?
Most of my experience was on Yahoo Groups. I joined Scullyfic while it was still there and then E-muse when it became an e-mail list, which I'm still a part of. I was part of several Yahoo Groups (can't remember all of them now), where I'd post my fic, RealPlayer slideshows (remember those?!), and collages. I never really took part in discourse because I'm shy and don't think anyone cares about my opinions (still don't!). The e-mail address I used for those groups was purged a couple of years ago, so I've lost all those messages.
What did you take away from your experience with X-Files fic or with the fandom in general?
My take away is that fanfic made me a better writer, thanks to having some great betas, and it made me a better professional writer for it (my real-life work is writing but not fun writing) because I learned to take criticism.
I also used to make a lot of fanart, collages and dustjackets for fic mostly. My big take away from that was that I really got into graphics and I got super proficient at Photoshop, which helped my own artistic endeavours and photography. I didn't realize how much skill I had developed until I've had to help someone with their graphics or photo editing.
What was it that got you hooked on the X-Files as a show?
My mother was watching X-Files before I was and she was raving about it. I don't have a great relationship with my mom, but one thing she was usually right about was TV shows. It's where I got my love of Sci-Fi.
I think the first episode I watched was Ice, which definitely hooked me. As for when the shipping started, I remember we were watching Lazarus, and when Mulder was yelling at Lula (I had to look that up) about hurting the hostage Scully, my mom said, "Oh, he's so in love with her." And I was all, "What?! Pfff." But then I could not stop thinking about it. And then I thought about it way, way too much.
What got you involved with X-Files fanfic?
I was in my late 20s, and it was around the end of S7 and I kept thinking about what if these two dumb idiots actually talked one day. And I kept thinking about dialogue in my head about what they'd actually say. The internet was still in its infancy back then, but I'd seen fan sites here and there. So I decided to search around to see if other people were talking about it and thinking about it like I was. I was such a noob I'd never even heard of fanfic. Imagine my delight when I discovered it. I found a few stories and thought, 'Well, I can do that.' And I wrote up my first story, found a place to post it (wasn't Ephemeral the best?), got some kind feedback, found a really nice person (not sure she wants to be named since she used her real name in the fandom back in the day) who encouraged me a lot and directed me to all the e-mail lists and Yahoo Groups that I needed to be on, and then, Bob's your uncle, I wrote more and more.
What is your relationship like now to X-Files fandom?
Periphery. Most of my experience in any fandom is now on Tumblr because that's where my attention span is. Show me pretty pictures and funny stuff. I am old now and don't want to think hard.
Were you involved with any fandoms after the X-Files? If so, what was it like compared to X-Files?
Veronica Mars was my next fandom experience. A number of my XF friends got me hooked on VM. The VM fandom was a LOT younger compared to the XF fandom. When I joined the XF fandom, I was the kid compared to most of the other fans who were all goddesses and royalty in my eyes. But in the VM fandom, I was in my 30s and the rest of the fandom were all in their early 20s if not younger. It often showed, so I stayed out of discussions and just posted my fic once I started writing it. I took a new handle (invida) when I started writing VM fic. Just in case these kids felt like my writing sucked, I didn't want it getting back to the XF fandom that I’d branched out and failed spectacularly.
By then fandom experiences had moved over to LiveJournal. I never really got involved in the discourse or the fandom fights. I knew what people were saying and where the schisms were, but I was all about the fanfic and the pretty pictures. Most of my LJ friends just discussed the episodes and posted their fic and that was good with me.
What got me writing fic for VM was Anjou's brilliant VM fic Into the Blue. Seriously, if you love VM S1, read her fic. Just so beautiful.
VM was also where started writing a WIP, which was a wild trip. I wrote a much-loved WIP called Damn, Damn the Circumstance which people still ask me about finishing to this day. Someday…*wistful sighs*
Who are some of your favorite fictional characters? Why?
Scully. She was everything! Lapsed Catholic, degrees in science, skeptic, always trying to work within the rules but still not taking crap. Yeah, she was the best.
Veronica Mars was great until she wasn't. I have a lot of issues with her beyond S2. And don't even talk to me about S4. For me, S1 was the best, I enjoyed the movie, the books were okay, but nothing else happened after that. NOTHING.
And the first character I ever loved was Princess Leia. She was also everything to me growing up. I wanted to be her. I still do.
Do you ever still watch The X-Files or think about Mulder and Scully?
Now and then. Not as much as I used to. I sometimes have it on in the background when I'm doing other things. Back before the pandemic, my BFF and I would have get togethers where we would play Scrabble, eat a lot of candy, and binge several XF episodes. I miss doing that. Hopefully, we will get back to that soon.
Do you ever still read X-Files fic? Fic in another fandom?
I am not an active XF fanfic reader right now. I will read any stories my friends put out. Otherwise, I only occasionally read some I come across on Tumblr in my feed, but I am not seeking them out. I will beta for any XF author who asks me as well.
I am reading fic in other fandoms though – Endeavour, Broadchurch, Sherlock…huh, I'm just realizing that's a lot of British stuff. I have been really into British detective series for the last few years.
Do you have any favorite X-Files fanfic stories or authors?
I used to run an XF fic recommendation site called How Will It End usually with at least one other person (I went through at least 4 partners on that project because I'm a control freak). We'd compile our recs and then I'd post them on my site. We'd also feature authors we really liked and interview them. Not unlike these interviews!
I'm terrible at giving feedback/comments. So I solved that problem by making a rec site. That way I could tell authors I loved their fics by recommending them. I didn't have to comment, I'd just say, 'I'd like to rec your fic'. And then they'd get promotion. Win-win. Back in those days, the fandom would absolutely roast you for promoting your own fic, so to get on a rec site was a big deal. Not that I had a popular rec site or anything. But I think authors really enjoyed being asked.
All that to say I've liked a lot of fics. I can pull up the archives of HWIE and show you all the faves I liked. :)
What is your favorite of your own fics, X-Files and/or otherwise?
Back in the day, E-muse would hold Improv Challenges, where other members would give you a prompt that you had to include in your fic. I was always really proud of the stories I created from those challenges (No Earthly Means and Elephant in the Room if you want to read them).
I enjoyed writing Dead to Rights which is an XF/Dead Like Me crossover because I loved the challenge of writing a crossover. It was the first crossover I ever tried writing even though I only recently published it.
Otherwise, I like re-reading In a Graveyard, Importuning Life for Life, and Some By Virtue Fall. Of my more recent fic, I like Slap a Goatee on Me and Call Me Evil because the premise was ridiculous and I think it's funny as all get out.
Probably my favourite of my VM fic was Stay Outta Riverdale. Because: 1. The title is a Simpsons reference who doesn't love a Simpsons reference? And 2. I think I was hilarious throughout it.
Do you think you'll ever write another X-Files story? Or dust off and post an oldie that for whatever reason never made it online?
I'm always open to writing more fic (and, of course, I don't mean my WIPs…don't look at me like that). Lately, my only motivation has been from writing prompts on Tumblr. I haven't had anyone give me a prompt in over a year, so here we are. I have snippets of dialogue in journals and word documents that have never found their way into stories. I'd be happy to dust off any of those and shoehorn them into a new story.
Do you still write fic now? Or other creative work?
The last fanfic I wrote was a mini-fic over a year ago (with a prompt from Lilydale!). I've written a bit of original fiction but I haven't been able to finish it. Otherwise, I do have a number of real life hobbies which are where my creative outlets lie now.
Where do you get ideas for stories?
Lately, challenges and prompts. It used to be from wanting to see more from a scene. I really had a thing for fill-in-the-blanks or scene continuations. And sometimes my motivation is just plain old spite. :)
What's the story behind your pen name?
Circe Invidiosa is the title of a painting by John William Waterhouse. Love the colours and the absolute malice on the face of the subject. It felt like a good pen name – the envious witch. That's me!
I chose it when I posted my first XF fic (which I cringe to read now, ugh so terrible) without knowing there was already a Circe in the fandom. Whoops. I tried to go by the full Circe Invidiosa or Invidiosa as much as possible after realizing that (invidiosa is my url and my username on a lot of sites, etc.). Now I think that I've been around long enough that it doesn't matter as much but I still like it.
As I said, I took the name Invida for the VM fandom which is just a shortening of Invidiosa.
Do your friends and family know about your fic and, if so, what have been their reactions?
My significant other knows and that was quite a reveal (oh how awkward). However, the SO has been very supportive and has read all my stories since the reveal and sometimes betas them. The SO also wants us to collaborate on writing some original fiction but we haven't found a project that works for both of us creatively or timewise.
My BFF knows because I dragged her into the online fandom. We've known each other since we were 14, but our love of XF really solidified our bond in our 20s. She wrote some short but sweet fics under the penname Helen Quilley which I bullied her into posting, and we wrote Of Ladies Most Deject and Wretched together. She is mostly embarrassed that she wrote fanfic now but we still fangirl together.
No one else really knows other than fandom folks I've met in real life. And some friends know I've written 'short stories' but I don't elaborate. I work in a stodgy, uptight industry where anything fun or actually having a life is frowned upon.
Is there a place online (tumblr, twitter, AO3, etc.) where people can find you and/or your stories now?
Over the first lockdown, I got my shit together and got my fic site, invidiosa.com, up and running again. My site houses fic by Rain (now @doctorhelena on Tumblr and AO3), Helen Quilley, ML (who I miss so much), Folieadeux, Shelba, TLynn, Oracle, Piper Sargasso, Diehard, and me. And I made all their dustjackets (except Folie's). The site got hacked a few years back and it was so much work to get running again that I put it off for years and years. I still feel terrible that I did not get the site back up before ML passed away, especially when ML had asked me about it a few months before she passed.
Anyway, all my XF fic is here: circe.invidiosa.com. I have 3 of my newer XF stories on AO3. And my fic-LJ also has some of my stories. Some of the newer stories are on Tumblr but the tagging is so erratic that I'd have to list several tags before you'd find them all. I don't know why I haven't moved everything over to AO3. Probably laziness.
I'm @invidiosa on Tumblr. I'm still on E-muse. I'm still on LJ. I'm always reachable by e-mail (invidiosa at gmail).
Is there anything else you'd like to share with fans of X-Files fic?
Thanks for reading, writing, and commenting. It is always appreciated.

The Ring
Happy Valentine’s Day!
So I finished my binge watch of the CW’s Nikita and well, I think we all know by now that I just love ripping off scenarios from other media and making Kastle fics. It’s my schtick and I’m gonna run it into the ground.
So here is an unconventional marriage proposal Kastle fic. Honestly this is probably how it would go anyway so it’s not like it’s beyond the realm of reality.
But first I want to give a huge thank you to my beta reader and editor, the amazing @joanofarkansass. This fic was initially, um, rough to put it nicely. But like a fairy godmother, she made it happen with incredible insight and gentle critique. I am literally indebted to you and I cannot thank you enough.
I also want to thank @evilbunnyking for reading the final draft, their awesome support, and catching every misplaced period and comma. Thank you!
And just a heads up, the canon in this is really screwy. Foggy and Karen know that Matt is Daredevil and Daredevil Season 2 is canon but basically just ignore the rest of the Daredevil/The Punisher Netflix/MCU timeline lol. Frank is a free man and clear of all charges here (yes that is unbelievable but just go along with it please and thank you). This is canon divergence borderlining on AU and slightly self indulgent and well, I don’t care ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
Enjoy!
Karen pulls up right behind the police cruiser, about a block away from the 15th Precinct. She gets out and knocks on the windshield window, making Detective Sergeant Brett Mahoney jerk his head up at her in fear for a fraction of a second.
But once he sees her he lets out an annoyed sigh and gets out. Karen crosses the front of the cruiser to get out of the street and onto the sidewalk, trying to hide her laughter from scaring Brett.
“What’s got you nervous, Mahoney?” Karen asks as he joins her and pockets his keys.
“What’s got me... oh, you know, about to watch Frank Castle walk out and be a free man. Again.”
“Nelson and Murdock won the case. Unfortunately this was not the sequel to The People vs. Frank Castle that New York City was hoping for.”
“That you were hoping for?” Mahoney cracks, raising an eyebrow at her.
“No. Well, maybe Ellison was hoping for it, but… look I’m just glad he was acquitted and that justice prevailed. It’ll be a more positive ending to write up.”
Mahoney shakes his head and starts walking toward the precinct. Karen follows and falls into his stride.
“Look, I know he didn’t kill that mobster,” Brett starts. “As crazy as that sounds, given his track record. But he gave us a hell of a time when we arrested him…”
“Do you blame him? In the span of two years, he has been charged and put on trial for murder twice,” Karen says pointedly.
“Well, you didn’t hear me say this but… the guys did a great job convincing everyone that Frank Castle was a changed man.”
“He is a changed man, Brett.”
“Believe me Karen, I know. I thought Frank Castle was scary as a man who had nothing to lose. I was wrong. Apparently I needed to deal with Frank Castle when he’s got someone he cares about…”
Now it’s Karen’s turn to jerk her head up at him.
“What did he say?” she asks.
“Nothing incriminating, your reputation is safe... I guess. But it’s all over the man’s face Karen. He really…”
“I know.”
It’s a tense silence but the look Mahoney gives Karen is more perplexed than judgmental.
“Do Nelson and Murdock know?” he asks.
“Yes.”
“Jesus…”
“We kept it quiet for a while but when he was arrested we had to tell them. They’re… slowly coming around to it. Should only take another couple years for them to be sort of okay with us.”
“Yeah I doubt that,” Brett replies sarcastically.
Karen chuckles half heartedly in response.
He quickly sobers up again though. “Well if you’re both happy then… I am glad. You both deserve some happiness after this shit show.”
“Thank you, Brett. That’s really sweet of you.” Karen says, just barely able to hide the emotion in her voice.
“Like I said, you didn’t hear any of this from me. Alright, let’s go get him.”
Just then, the front doors of the precinct building burst open with Matt and Foggy dragging Frank away from a horde of pissed off cops.
“Shit,” Mahoney mutters. He jogs ahead toward the mob with his hands up to stop their hot pursuit.
Karen takes her .380 out of her purse and speed walks toward the commotion. She honestly hopes she’s not gonna have to use it but she’s glad to have the comforting weight of it in her hand. She catches up to Matt and Foggy as they let go of Frank. Matt tilts his head toward her, then lets out a deep sigh.
“Come on Karen, that’s not…” he says as he gestures towards her hand that’s holding her gun.
“It’s just Mahoney, Matt. They’re gonna kill him. We have to help,” Karen insists ardently.
“No, we have to get out of here,” Matt dismisses with a wave of his free hand.
“I’m with Matt on this one, Karen,” Foggy agrees. “You have no idea how lucky we got with this case. And that none of those cops tried to kill him just now.”
“Exactly, because of Brett.” She turns her attention back to Matt, who has his walking stick in a vice grip. “We can’t leave him behind.”
“The cops are just upset. They’d be stupid to try anything. He is their boss, and at the end of the day they have to follow his orders.”
“How can you be sure of that?” Karen argues.
The frustration is palpable between the three of them. Karen just then notices Frank’s silence. She turns to him and takes in his clenched jaw and that trigger finger of his tapping away against his thigh.
“Frank? Are you…”
Just then several loud shouts catch everyone’s attention. Mahoney is on the ground now and a cop has his gun drawn.
“Oh, that’s not…” Foggy gasps.
“Come on Foggy.” Matt grabs Foggy’s arm, leaving Frank and Karen alone.
“Let’s get to the car, Frank. Before this gets a lot worse…”
Frank’s expression had barely changed so when he whips his head toward her she can’t help but take a step back.
“Give me the gun,” Frank commands quickly.
“What? Why?”
“Give me the damn gun, Karen!”
He snatches it from her hands and runs back toward Mahoney and the cops.
“Where are you going?!” Karen shouts incredulously.
“To get your engagement ring!” Frank shouts back.
Karen is stunned and suddenly, the last month comes into focus for her. The jumpiness of his movements whenever she entered a room before he was arrested. His trigger finger tapping away more than usual during the trial. How his bottom lip began to tremble out of nowhere each time she kissed him.
Karen smiles as Frank bolts past Matt and Foggy. He takes on several cops at once, knocking them down like bowling pins. Karen makes her way to the boys as Foggy raises his arms in disbelief while Matt tries to pull him away.
“Unbelievable! Are you kidding me, Castle?!” Foggy yells. “Matt, can’t you do something?”
“I’m in the wrong suit, Foggy.”
“Damn it.”
“Matt is also technically blind Foggy. Do we really want to open that Pandora’s box tonight?” Karen reminds him.
“Come on, let’s get to the car. Looks like we’re gonna have to make an escape. And figure out how we can keep this quiet...” Matt muses.
“We almost got through this damn trial without issue, I swear on the Nelson name…” Foggy groans as he runs his hand over his face.
“Karen, come on,” Matt says as he passes her.
Brett is the last man standing and both men have their guns pointed at each other. Karen is about to join the standoff when Brett holds his hand out and reaches into his back pants pocket. He reveals a ring box. Frank takes it and starts running toward her.
“Go! Go! Go!” Frank hollers at her.
Karen bolts to the car, makes a beeline for the driver’s seat and slams the door shut. Frank joins her a moment later in the passenger seat, flushed pink and his hand wrapped around the ring box.
...
“I’m surprised you didn’t take me to Metro General. Or get us back in that service elevator at the hotel…”
Frank laughs and Karen is relieved that the last 24 hours haven’t deterred Frank.
“Seriously, what was your proposal plan?” She teases as she pokes him in the arm.
“Just... trust me Karen. Okay?”
The Williamsburg Bridge is shadowed by a deep orange sunset as they walk hand in hand. Frank suddenly stops and Karen’s stomach drops. He turns to her, tears in his eyes as he exhales a shaky breath.
Suddenly Karen can’t catch her breath, everything is about to change and she isn’t sure she is ready for it. “Frank, you don’t have to do this…”
“Yes I do. It’s tradition and I’m a traditional man. And the hell I went through to get this ring to you... I want to do this right.”
He gets down on one knee and Karen covers her mouth with her hand. Frank produces the ring box in his hand and opens it. It’s simple; a small, oval diamond on a silver band. It’s perfect.
“Karen. A long time ago now, in some diner, I told you that you had everything with a man that I thought you deserved to be with. I told you to hold onto it, use two hands, and never let go. But the truth was he didn’t deserve you. And I honestly don’t either. But I will spend whatever remaining days I have to be worthy of someone like you. I love you. Karen Page, will you marry me?”
Karen hoists Frank off the ground, holding his face in between her hands. Any doubt she was holding onto is gone now.
“You had me at ‘Give me the damn gun, Karen.’”
They both laugh as Karen holds out her left hand. Frank takes the ring out of the box, caresses her hand before sliding the ring into place. They crash into each other, their hands wrapped around each other’s necks.
“I love you too, Frank Castle,” she says when they finally break apart. She takes his hand as the darkness settles in around them. But the ring doesn’t feel like the weight of her .380. Rather it feels like it has always been there. Like home. And she’ll fight like hell to keep it that way and so will Frank. They’re in this together now.

our story was epic
Up until a few days ago, I was unable to really absorb that they are about to start airing season 11. Like... they are still SHOOTING season 11. And it feels like I JUST got into this thing, so... despite being on Tumblr way too much, I still couldn’t fully wrap my head around it.
But then I bought myself an advent calendar and it started to be me daily going “Oh my God. It’s December 4th. That’s TWO DAYS. And I’m just realizing that it’s exactly a year since I became obsessed with this show.
I started to binge right at the start of December, initially watching YouTube clips and then just surrendering to the whole show. And I was IN a fandom that I was enjoying very much, but the magnetism that is Gallavich could not be denied. I’ve been a sucker for a good love story my whole life. I used to sneak watching soaps (severely not allowed in my house) as a kid by *taping them off the audio feed on my radio*. So I like epic. I like over the top and dramatic desperate love stories a whole lot.
But I don’t think I’ve ever loved a love story like I love Ian and Mickey.
When I was first falling in love with this story I kept thinking of an exchange from Veronica Mars:
"I thought our story was epic, you know. You and me.”
"Epic how?”
"Spanning years and continents. Lives ruined and bloodshed. Epic.”
Epic is a high bar. Epic is Shakespearean. Epic often ends in tears.
But I think Gallavich is epic.
Spanning years we got. These are not people who span continents. Bloodshed, certainly. Lives ruined?  Well. It sometimes looked pretty bleak. But I think they did ok.
The thing about an epic love story is that a lot of them do end badly. They’re also almost always about rich people. But there’s nothing all that inspiring about a great love that lasts a few weeks before you both end up dead in a tomb because of a wacky misunderstanding and a slow mule.
I’ve always thought the point of a great love story is not to rush headlong into death, but to have something that’s worth fighting for, because it enriches your life. For me, an epic love is one that withstands pressures the conflicts. It’s rooted in understanding. It’s about two people who really know each other and lift each other up. There is something to be said for the epic love story that ends with people splitting a beer on the porch after a particularly gruelling day. That’s the stuff I actually find relatable and uplifting.
So. On the eve of the last season, here’s my list of what has made them epic, up to this point.
1. They are in for each other just as they are. From day one -- if we count day one as being the day Ian Gallagher discovered Mickey Milkovich was an option for him -- they have been charmed and twitter-pated over exactly the guy they see in front of them. We’ve seen Ian unable to suppress a smile while Mickey beats some poor kid up, and grin like an idiot while Mickey shrugs off their hookup. And we know from Ian’s other relationships that Mickey is the only guy who he is ever just himself with. Mickey never gives Ian a reason to think he has to be something else because Mickey isn’t critical of Ian as a human.
2. The Magnet Factor. This is essential if you’re going to to call yourself epic. Two people who can’t stay away from each other. Who will come back to each other again and again, no matter what is going on. The best they do at staying apart is season three, when they have both been attacked and traumatized, and even then it’s the person who has to live with his assaulter who is taking that position. It still doesn’t last. It’s life and death and Mickey still does stuff like hook up with Ian while his entire family is upstairs waiting for his wedding to start. Authorities have to intervene. Nothing else can mount a convincing counterattack. Not even a Mexican cartel.
3. Compatibility. If you have a couple who are willing to draw blood for each other there’s got to be a reason. Ian and Mickey have that deep compatibility that I find so convincing. Settling in to watch action movies, or spooning in bed, or having beers in the kitchen. Stumbling down the street, singing Love is a Battlefield. They have the best time with each other and it’s the absolute greatest thing about them.
4. They really and truly do love each other. Not just in those moments when they’re smiling at each other like they’ve never seen anything more amazing in their entire lives -- but in the moments when Ian is spending all this time fretting about how Mickey is while Mickey won’t talk to him, or is limping around Chicago trying to figure out how to get Mickey to come home to him. Or when he’s giving Mickey all his money at the border because he can’t reasonably go with him and stay healthy, but will still do everything he can to make this work out for him. Mickey being absolutely terrified for Ian when it becomes obvious that he’s sick, but never, ever entertaining the idea that it’s within his control. Just holds him, deals with his own stuff, argues with uninterested nurses at the clinic, gets all the fuckin’ Bs, when when Ian lets him know he needs something else, pivots. Instantly. Because Mickey isn’t interested in fitting Ian into some box. He’s just there to support Ian in getting better. They really do look to do what’s best for each other, to the best of their abilities, and that hasn’t changed.
5. Constancy. They started this when they were teenagers. They never really gave up on each other. They have met other people, done other things, and spent time away from each other. They know what else is out there. They still want what they wanted as kids: each other.
I generally go into things with as low expectations as I can manage. I’m going into season 11 expecting Ian and Mickey to fundamentally stay Ian and Mickey. And that will be more than enough for me. Because as long as it stays a story about two people who like each other, want to be together and stay together, I’m going to be happy. Most of the story has already been told. And I think it’s the greatest.
