Botw Characters X Sick Reader: HC’s
Tumblr media
Anon; “ Hello, I was wonder If you could write about how Sidon, Link, and Revali would react to their crush getting sick. Thank you in advance, have a great day, and don’t forget to drink some water!”
~xXx~
Sidon:
probably the most notably worried out of the three
if Sidon's not there when his s/o is announced ill, then you best bet he'll be rushing his way to their side the second he's done with his royal duties
while his excessive worry is a little irritating to the healers as they try to do their job, they also have to admit how sweet it is that he cares so deeply for his s/o
they'll teach him ways to help take care of his s/o, such as helping them sit up to drink or eat, or when to replace a damp towel with a new one
his s/o promises him its just the flu or something similarly minor, but Sidon can't help to refuse to leave them be
seeing them with such exhausted eyes, disheveled appearance and hearing the raspiness in their voice breaks his heart
whether its a simple cold, or Hylia forbid, something worse, Sidon hates seeing his s/o in such array and only wishes for them to feel better as soon as possible
he knows he's probably being overly concerned, but he feels it's his duty as their partner to do his best to get them back to tip top shape
and if that means having to deal with Muzu's reprimanding for skipping a few meetings that he truly doesn't even need to be at, then so be it
Link:
Link's level of worry depends on the severity of the illness; if it's something serious it'll show on his face and he'll do everything in his power to help his s/o heal
but if it's something such as the common cold, then he'll feel more bad for his s/o then worried as he does what he can to help them get through it
Link doesn't get sick often, but when he does it's no vacation, so he knows that his s/o isn't exactly having the best time of their lives either
he'll go out to forage for shrooms and herbs to help with the fever, cough, you name it, but he's never gone for too long
Link's also very careful to not get himself sick in the process of taking care of his s/o; it's not that he's scared of their germs or anything, he just doesn't want this to be a back and forth thing where they keep getting the other sick
if he's got the time, he'll constantly wash the blankets and towels and whatever else has been used to help his s/o get better, and he also knows how nice it is to always have a fresh set of something when you don't feel so hot
if Link ever has to go out on a mission he can't avoid while his s/o is sick, he'll ask someone he truly trust such as Zelda to look after them until he returns
once he does return, Link is quick to getting back to healing his sick s/o, so that way once they feel better he can make them their favorite food with lots of love
Revali:
this guy comes off as ass about his s/o being sick at that start
he's still not quite used to helping others out in such a way, so when his s/o first comes down with a cold, he's very unsure with how to help
he'll make comments about how being a Rito, his immune system is superior to that of a Hylians so he's never had any need to know how to take care of someone who's "grossly ill"
his s/o just rolls there eyes and makes the decision that, fine, they'll take care of themselves
the second they try to do anything and almost crash to the floor in exhaustion, Revali instantly feels bad and kicks his pride to the curb to actually help his s/o out
will actually go out of his way to learn what treatments work for Hylians, and does his best to get them right
he'll wordlessly offer them something like soup, and his s/o has to refrain from teasing him about how sweet he's being and how they should be sick more often
in truth, they know that Revali cares and it's just that this is new territory for him as well as that the Rito Champion has always shown affection through the form of action rather than words
whether it's Revali placing a cool rag on their forehead or checking in on them when he thinks they're sleeping, his s/o greatly appreciates his effort in taking care of them, and will absolutely tell him this endearingly once they're better
~xXx~

I'm taking this as an opportunity to continue to spread my headcanon that Warriors knits as a hobby. I think Legend also embroiders (with a preference for cross stitch). This is their bonding activity.
I loved writing this little head cannon @gryphonlover and it stopped me writing any whump for once!
I hope you like it.
Hobby Boys
It had been a long day in Twilight's Hyrule. The chain had fought a monster hoard on the edge of Kakariko village. No major injuries to report, only a few cuts and bruises. Although Time had suggested they stay in Kakariko and set off the following day, Twilight wanted to get back to Ordon and check on his neighbours as soon as possible. Not to mention he had been neglecting Epona the last few days and decided a trip to the spring outside his home town would be a nice treat for her.
Wars agreed to the plan reluctantly. He had had enough of walking for days on end, so had most of the others, though they kept their opinions to themselves. They all knew what it was like to end up back in their own eras. The desire to get home to familiar territory and all the comforts that come with it. Wars understood Twi's enthusiasm to get moving, but he didn't have to be happy about it.
While they walked the sun began to dip towards the horizon. They hadn't been to Twilight's era for a while, but Wars was fairly certain they weren't exactly close to Twi's village.
"Twi, I'm not sure we're going to reach Ordon before nightfall," Wars observed, trotting forwards to catch up with their rancher.
"It's okay, we should be there before midnight at least," Twi replied brightly.
"Come on Twi, I know you want to see home as badly as the rest of us. But," Wars lowered his voice, "Wind and Legend are putting on brave faces but that fight definitely took it out of them back there. We should really stop and make camp. Ordon will still be there in the morning, I promise."
Wars urged his friend, laying a comforting hand on his shoulder. Twilight let out a long sigh as he glanced over his shoulder at the rest of the Chain. Wind and Four were walking hand in hand, but the longer Twi looked the more he could see the exhaustion in the teen's eyes. His grip on Four's hand was weak and he dragged his feet along the path. Legend was much the same and Twi had to admit he was being rather selfish.
"Hey guys, I don't think we'll reach Ordon before nightfall. Let's make camp and set out again in the morning after a good rest," Twi announced.
Twi's decision was met with more than a handful of cheers and greatful sighs from the others. Perhaps he had misjudged the distance from Kakariko to Ordon on foot, especially travelling as a large group rather than on his own.
The chain found a small grove of trees to use as shelter as they set up their camp. Wild set about cooking a quick supper for everyone while the others laid out their bed rolls and organised a watch rota. Wind wolfed down the stew Wild cooked up then instantly crashed on his bed roll. Time decided to scratch the teen off the watch rota and let him have a full night's sleep.
Wars was on first watch but not everyone had gone to sleep. Legend sat on a tree stump facing away from the circle of their camp. He seemed to be working away at something in his lap. With a frown Wars got to his feet to see what the Vet was up to.
"You okay Lege?" Wars asked softly, reaching out to lay a hand on the young adventurer's shoulder.
Before Wars could reach him Lege shot to his feet and spun around, hiding whatever he was holding behind his back.
"I'm fine! Hylia! Why do you have to be so nosey Cap?!" Legend exclaimed defensively, his ears turning pinker than the streak in his hair.
"Sorry," Wars replied, taking a step back. Though he thought Legend's reaction was particularly hostile, even for him. "I thought you might be hurt, I was just checking on you. You seemed quite exhausted by our last fight."
"Well I'm not hurt and yeah I'm a bit tired, but I just wanted some alone time. Is that too much to ask?" Legend retorted, there was still venom in his voice but Wars couldn't figure out where it was coming from.
"No it's not. Forgive me for worrying about you!" Wars scoffed, turning on the spot and heading back towards the fire.
He plonked himself down on the ground and pulled his bag towards himself. Legend sat down on his tree stump once again but kept his eyes on Wars for a moment. When he saw the Captain pull out a ball of wool and what looked like a half finished scarf Legend's squinting eyes went wide.
"You knit!" He burst out.
Sky snorted a breath in his sleep and Legend was afraid he might have woken him. He and Wars both checked the others were still asleep before either of them spoke.
"Yes, why do you sound so surprised? Everyone has a hobby don't they? Most of the others play instruments, but I never learnt. So I knit instead, it helps me relax and, it reminds me of my soldiers."
Wars eyes dropped towards the fire as he explained. Legend thought his friend looked sad for a moment. Curious, he moved a little closer to the fire, stepping into its circle of light and warmth.
"Your soldiers?" Legend asked.
"Yeah, one of the guys in my first squad taught me to knit. He said it helped him relax after training. But it also kept his fingers busy when his mind would race through the more terrible aspects of soldiering. When he itched to hit something or throttle the next person to speak, he had his hands full with something that helped him relax instead. I picked up the same habit and now I do a little bit almost every night. When I finish this scarf I think I'll give it to Wind, it's in his colours after all."
Wars held up the woolen scarf for Legend to see. Though the night was dim and the orange glow of the fire obscured the colours a little, Legend could see the scarf had been knitted in pale blue and white bands. Wars had even managed to use a stitch that replicated the shapes of cresting waves which Legend thought was impressive.
"Wow, that's actually pretty neat," he admitted.
"Thanks."
"Why haven't you shown any of us this before?" Legend probed, plopping himself down to sit cross legged in front of the fire.
"Would you have been so nice about it if the others were conscious?" Wars asked, raising an eyebrow.
"True. Sorry, I probably shouldn't admit to that," Legend replied, hanging his head a little.
"It's alright, the other soldiers used to tease me too. Even the ones I used to knit stuff for. But they never meant anything by it. I'm sure you wouldn't either," Wars shrugged, as he picked up his needles and tried to remember where he was in his pattern.
"I suppose it would make me a bit of a hypocrit anyway," Legend mumbled.
"Why?" Wars said slowly, eyeing the bundle Legend had scrunched up in his lap. "What are you trying to hide Lege? It can't be any worse than a Captain knitting scarves!" He scoffed.
Legend hesitated a moment, but Wars was right, perhaps there was no harm in sharing. If the others were awake he and Wars were usually the ones to tease each other for things. If the Captain had trusted him with his secret, perhaps he should return the favour. Legend sighed and opened out the piece of fabric in his lap.
It was a beautiful piece of purple velvet with what appeared to be gold thread woven into it. As Legend held it up for Wars to see he could clearly make out the embroidered patterns of leaves and flowers in the shining golden thread. Tiny little crosses made up the shapes and came together to make quite a beautiful image.
"Rav's favourite colours, hopefully I can finish it before the next time I get to see him," Legend explained.
"It's beautiful Lege," Wars breathed, as he studied the intricate stitches. "How long have you been working on it?"
"Few weeks. Usually takes me about a month to do a piece this big, but I'm working all the hours I can spare on it. Which is usually just when I'm on watch and I won't get distracted by you lot."
"Hmm," Wars nodded, drawing how eyes away from the embroidery and up to Legend's blushing face. "It's really good Lege, I would never have teased you for this. I'm impressed. And it's sweet you're making it for Ravio. I'm sure he'll love it."
"You mean it?" Legend asked, suspicious of how nice Wars was being towards him.
"Cross my heart," Wars replied, making a cross over his chest with his knitting needles. "Honestly Lege it's beautiful. Wish I could embroider. I've been meaning to fix my scarf for ages."
"What do you mean fix it?" Legend asked, he hadn't noticed any damage to Wars' prized blue scarf.
"Yeah, with all the travelling we do through woods and swamps the design on the end has got pretty roughed up. It's supposed to be the royal crest, but quite a lot of the stitches have come loose or disappeared completely. This scarf means a lot to me and I'm ashamed I haven't kept it in very good condition."
Wars pulled the loop of his scarf up to his chin and rubbed his skin against the soft fabric. He'd done his best to keep it clean and stitch up any tears in the fabric, but he didn't have the skill to restore the crest.
"I could fix it for you if you want?" Legend suggested with a shrug.
"You mean it?!" Wars replied brightly, the firelight dancing in his eager eyes.
"Sure. How about you knit me a scarf to give to Ravio as well in payment?"
"Alright that's a deal," Wars nodded, a bright smile spread across his face.
Legend still felt a little embarrassed about his hobby being discovered. But Wars had been so impressed by his hidden talents, Legend was starting to feel better about it. The fact that he could put it to good use helping preserve something important to one of his brothers, even one of the more annoying ones, warmed his heart.
The pair sat together by the rest of the fire for a good few hours, working on their projects and talking quietly together. Sharing stores of things they had created and the friends they had given them to. Unsurprisingly most of Legend's pieces had been given to Ravio, but he also admitted he had left secret little embroideries on some of the Chain's stuff. Little cross stitched flowers or fairies on their packs or blankets. None of them had noticed but Legend didn't do it for praise or approval. He did it because they were his brothers and each piece of work was like giving each of them a little bit of himself to carry with them.
***
As their journey wore on Legend and Wars often found themselves passing time together. During watch or whenever they got separated from the group, they would comfort each other by asking about their latest projects. One morning Wars had woken to find his scarf neatly folded by his bedroll, the immaculate crest staring up at him.
"How did you manage it?" Wars whispered to Legend, that afternoon while they were walking through some woods in Time's era.
"Little bit of time and a little bit of my magic touch," Legend replied with a wink.
"Thank you Link," Wars uttered, flashing Legend a warm smile.
"You're welcome Captain," Legend nodded, before skipping off to walk beside Hyrule.
Wars smiled at the back of Legend's head, thinking about how many rows of stitches he had left to do in Ravio's new scarf.

Sage is up and on edge! what crimes will he commit?
(all of them, and reader will be none the wiser <3)
Part Two of this! Part three is Here!
Also if anyone wants to see Sage introduced to anything in particular feel free to ask, I've got a couple of ideas in mind but I'm curious what you guys think would be interesting. and as a heads up Sage is TotK link as a separate link from wild
Tumblr media
"Earth? The place you mentioned when you were talking about your home? That earth?"
"Yeah. That earth. My home actually, lucky as those odds are. so uhh, any questions? I know you’re probably as overwhelmed being here as I was when I first ended up in Hyrule; I won’t be afraid to answer anything."
I don’t think I’ve ever seen someone’s face switch between emotions as rapidly as his in that moment, I don't even think it would be possible to be any faster. Shock, surprise, anger, and a few more that I can’t put my finger on before settling on pride?
It’s as good a guess as any for what he’s feeling right now, especially considering he looks like a smug cat. Granted he’s not outwardly panicking now which is an improvement whether that’s due to me offering to answer questions or due to me knowing where we are is up for debate.
"And I’m the only link here?"
…Unless you count the links in the games, not like I’m getting into that.
"Certainly seems that way doesn’t it? Hopefully, they’re not panicking badly."
You know what?
I was wrong.
His face could switch even quicker, seemingly because I shoved the equivalent of a lemon into his mouth before he regained his composure. Blink and you’ll miss it moment really. I could question it, but right now? It's not worth my stress.
I'm sure he’s just overwhelmed, right?
"Oh don’t be worried [name], they’re heroes of legend. They already have Hylia looking over them. They’ll survive without you."
Okay then, he’s stressed. Of course he is, I know I was when this was all flipped. Just so happens that his way of destressing is by speaking bitterly about the others, so it’s probably worth it to change the conversation completely rather than get into it while he’s overwhelmed.
"... You’re probably right. I’m overthinking things."
Huh.
Didn’t think that would calm him as much as it did. Seems being alone with him, when we aren’t in his Hyrule at least, lets him show his true colours more easily. I wish I could say it calmed me as well.
Relaxing would be nice right now however I’ve still got a stupid number of notifications to respond to, to figure out how to respond to. Before people start getting suspicious; before they start asking questions; before someone recognises him.
It's fine, there’s time to pull myself together, to sort everything out. Sage doesn't need to have me panicking while he’s adjusting. He deserves someone stable after everything he’s gone through, and I can be that. I know I can, I just need to buy myself some time to think, to clear my head.
"It might be an idea to get you some clothes while you adjust. You should be able to fit into some of mine, they’ll do for a bit at least."
"You’d let me... You would let me wear your clothes?"
He would be mortified if he saw the look on his face now, what with him fawning like a lovestruck puppy. There wasn’t even a single hope in attempting to hold back my laugh while dragging him to my room.
"What else could I do? It’s not like you can stay in those all the time. Take whatever you want, something in there is bound to fit you."
"Whatever I - Thank you."
If I wasn't so unnerved by how he was acting a couple of moments earlier? I’d be melting at how cute he’s being. But that raw visceral hatred in his eyes when I brought up the other heroes, even though it only lasted for a split second?
No.
Worry about that later [name]. Focus on helping him adjust and to readjust yourself. Stop reading too deeply into things.
Luckily, it worked how I wanted it to. Sage is distracted for the minute giving me a chance to look over any messages and hopefully catch myself back up to speed. There can’t be much to have missed in less than a day though. Nothing that time-sensitive either.
A bundle of clothes shoved into my face wasn’t exactly what I thought would snap me out of dredging through messages and playing catch-up; it’s a clear tell he’s found something he's pleased with.
"These are mine now."
"Huh - okay, I guess?? Are you going to change into them or just stand there?"
Have I done something wrong??
He's never looked at me like this before, I can't tell what he's thinking.
"Do you want me to get changed into them here?"
"What!? No, I meant - Not here! You can change in the bathroom, you can have a shower as well then. You really need one…"
Seems he got his payback about me laughing at him earlier though, with how red my face is. Even if he did look a bit confused about my comment.
Wordlessly taking his hand in mine after regaining my composure, I led him to the bathroom; gave him a quick rundown of everything; then left him to sort himself out after I was confident he could manage.
To be fair to Sage it’s not like I don’t also need one, Hyrule’s hygiene left a lot to be missed. Soap, hot running water and even a soft towel sound like bliss.
Between Freshening up with some clean clothes; reminding myself that nothing has expired here despite feeling otherwise; preparing a couple of drinks, and shifting back into this mundane life feels almost overwhelming. If Sage weren’t here with me I’d be going insane, doubting anything and everything that happened in Hyrule.
But he is here, and I’ve not gone insane. Not yet at least.
There’s not exactly any harm in waiting around and enjoying some luxury either though. Physics isn’t advanced to the point of having portals nor do we have magic to do it; waiting is our sole option to get back Hyrule and the chain.
Has Sage wrapped his arms around my waist!? When did he even get out of the shower? Have I really been so lost in thought and oblivious?
"You’re sure nothing here has been tampered with at all, I wouldn’t put it past the shadow. I still have supplies you can use, we shouldn’t risk anything."
"I well- it should be fine, shouldn’t it? If the shadow wanted us dead, it would’ve killed us outright when it had that chance, surely?"
"Um, also Sage, mind if I ask why you’re holding me like this?"
He sounds so tired and defeated, it’s hard not to drop everything for him at the slightest chance to ease his burdens. While a quiet groan then being tugged closer to him, at any other time would have flustered me again, is concerning given that portal could have affected him in any number of ways.
"The gloom’s actin’ up like the portal did something. I'm just… You don’t mind do you?"
"Oh Lavender, do you want to take my bed for a bit, or at the very least sit-down? I should have some painkillers around here somewhere."
Must be agonising if he’s like this seeing as he's not willing to go into detail, to set aside his fear of being vulnerable, nor is he willing to let go of me despite the promise of painkillers. He’s got me wrapped around his finger like this; it wouldn’t surprise me if he knew either.
"Hold me? Please?"
"Of course, I’ll hold you. Although wouldn’t you rather sit somewhere comfortable?"
Now he’s not even bothering to speak, only whining quietly while he clutches me tighter in his embrace. Therefore it was a simple choice to lay him against me as I sat down, giving him unspoken permission to rest his head on me.
Oddly enough with how he’s got his face against me…
I could have sworn he was smirking.

Sugar, spice, and everything nice (Four)
Tumblr media
Pairing: Four x baker! Reader
Rating:G
Summary: You get to reunite with your husband, and you spend some time catching up with him.
Warnings: None
Other: If I missed anything please let me know
-------
Your husband had disappeared without a trace nearly six months ago, thankfully your soul mate tie means anything that is put on his skin shows up on your's. So he's alive.
And you both get to talk to each other.
Oddly enough he hasn't written anything since two days ago and you're starting to really worry.
You're taking someone's order when the bell chimes and a group of men armed to the teeth enter.
"Alright I'll have that out in just a bit!" You say to the person as you put their order ticket on the line.
You eye the group of men for two seconds before your sight zeroes in on your husband.
you feel your chest tighten and warm all at once, smiling slightly more genuine.
"(Y/n)!" One of your employees calls from the back, "Can you come help us?"
Well shit, guess your husband will have to wait.
You watch his eyes fall to you, and he smiles brightly at you as you turn to leave. You give a gentle wave as you turn all the way, entering the kitchen.
You find the problem is easy enough to fix, a simple pipe problem. Usually you'd call a plumber but with a wrench it's a five minute fix.
Washing your hands after fixing the problem you smile at the fact that your husband is back. In your bakery and back. Safe and alive!
"I'm taking my lunch!" You call as you place your apron on the hook by the kitchen door.
You walk back into the main part, apron and name tag off this time as you grab a round of blueberry muffins on the house for your husband and his friends.
"Hey Link." You say as you slide into the booth beside him.
You set the muffins on the table easily before leaning against Four gently.
"(Y/n)!" He says happily, voice bright and cheerful.
"This is your spouse?" Asks the oldest of the group.
"Yeah, this is (Y/n). Love, these are other heroes of courage."
"It's nice to meet you."
"He won't shut up about you." Says a male with blonde hair that looks dip dyed pink at one side.
"That's sweet of you." You say, leaning to kiss his cheek.
"I'm so happy to see you. I've missed you so much." Four said absolutely beaming, "Can the others stay with us for a bit?"
"As long as they don't purposely burn our house down, sure."
"Accidentally is fine?" One asks in confused awe.
"I've handled worse." You shrug, "So are you all named Link?"
"Yeah. But we have Nicknames. I'm Time."
"Twilight. "
"Warriors. "
"Wild."
"I'm wind!"
"It's nice to meet you, I'm sky."
"I'm Legend."
"I'm Hyrule!"
"And you?" You prompt turning to your husband with a smile.
"I'm called four."
"Fitting." You say evenly, thinking back to the many many times Four's colors have been around you.
"I think so. How have you been?"
Four take your hand in his, squeezing gently.
"I'm good, I've been worried but otherwise I'm good."
"I'm sorry about this. But-"
"It's okay, Love. I get it, you may be my husband but you're Hylia's hero."
There's something bitter in your voice, they can all hear it.
You will never hold his fate against him... but it still is hard to share your lover with the world. His good heart takes him away a lot.
But you also know that hero as he may be, he'd do anything to keep you safe. Even destroy the world.
Time gives a sympathetic look, "I've always felt the worst for our families."
"We know what it means to love a hero." You say with a shrug, "I am more worried for you guys."
"I suppose."
"Now enough of the sad talk, I wanna hear all about your latest adventures!" You say with a grin.
Four is taking one of the muffins muffins before he looks at you with bright eyes. "You should see Wild fish- he lives up to his name."
"Well with a name like that you have to."
"Do you have any clue why Four uses that name?" Hyrule asks.
"His sword." You say simply, not sure how much the others know and not wanting to out your lover. "Now, has my husband been good to you?"
"He made me a new sword!" Wild grins.
"He's been very helpful." Time says.
"I'm glad. I should probably head home if you guys are staying- I have to grab groceries and stuff."
"I'll come with you." Four says quickly.
"All right. Come on four, the rest of you relax and the muffins are on the house."
The group shares a look but lets you leave.
You lead Four towards the kitchen to grab your wallet and keys and bag. "Taking the rest of the day off, family thing!" You call into the kitchen before taking Four's hand and leaving with him.
You hold Four's hand still as you head towards the market, "Did I tell you about the mess of a delivery this morning?"
"No! What happened?"
"Ugh- well we were supposed to get our egg and milk delivery from Lon Lon, right? Malon was sick so she sent one of the new workers- they forgot eggs!"
"They didn't!"
"They did! So I had to wait another hour before we could start our prep this morning which threw off our whole morning!"
"That really. sucks."
"It's fine, enough people like my stuff to wait. We just opened late."
"Well I'm glad it worked out."
"Me too." You say, lifting your entwined hands to hiss the back of his gently. "I'm even more glad to have you with me."
The market is slow, most people are at work but thankfully it's open.
"I've missed you." You say to Four as you walk around, browsing.
"I've missed you too. A lot."
"Have you had fun?"
"Yeah... It's nice. The others really understand me."
"Good. I'm glad. You of all people deserve that."
"But I'm happy to be back. I was so excited when we ended up back here, I couldn't not surprise you!"
"Well I'm surprised for sure. Do you think stew will be okay for dinner?"
"Stew will be great."
"Perfect- oh I should make strawberry shortcake."
"You spoil us."
"You. I spoil you, the others just get the treats as well."
"You're perfect."
"Hardly."
Four just smile as you grab the things needed.
You pay, holding the bagged items by your side.
"(Y/n)?"
"Yes?"
"I'm glad I get to hold you tonight."
"I'm glad too."
"Would it be okay if all of us held you?"
"All of- you mean your colors right? Not the strange heroes?"
Four laughs, shaking his head. "Of course my colors."
"Then yes. But not until you eat and take a good warm bath. You look exhausted."
"I am."
"That's okay. I'm here to help."
"Thank you for that."
"Anytime."
.......
Evening falls, and the boys all take various spots to sleep.
Wild and Wind take the pull out couch, curled together as soon as they fall asleep- which is quickly.
Hyrule and Legend sleep on pads from couch and chair cushions.
The guest room is shared by Sky and Twilight, a trundle bed under the main bed.
Time and Warriors are put on cots in the living room.
You're just glad you have so many sleeping options, between friends and family crashing it has been necessary but not quite to this extent.
You close the door behind you as Four sets all his things away.
You turn, changing into night clothes as Four does the same, your own body exhausted from the day. You can only imagine how he feels.
You turn, watching him lift the sword above his head before a flash of light reveals all four of his colors.
"Hello, love." Your voice is tired but welcoming.
"(Y/n)." They chorus.
"Put the swords down and come to bed." You urge, eyeing the king size mattress with longing.
You move to get into bed as the boys put their swords away before rushing after you.
Red gets to you first, cuddling up to your right.
Green takes your left while Blue gets behind Red to hold you from there.
Vio just moves to lay across the green so his head is on your heart, he may be reserved but he's genuinely happy to be with you. hearing your heartbeat soothes him.
"I've missed you."
"We missed you too." Red says with a smile.
"It's been too quiet at home."
"That's not going to be a problem much longer. We're going to finish the job and come back."
"You better."

The one word writing prompt from @unexpectedstormy was "hungry"
Sorry for forgetting this for so long!
This is a fic that ive been meaning to write for ages but just never had the motivation to
Send me a one word writing prompt
Hyrule was by no means a good cook, he was probably the worst cook in the kingdom! The chain learned that when he first cooked some apparently old meat when Wild had hit his head and was out of commision.
It wasn't his fault that he couldn't cook! In his era, lighting fires was dangerous and would attract monsters so you had to each food raw or only have a fire long enough to smoke it. Full meals were only a luxury made in towns where people had proper kitchens and there was no risk of attracting enemies, not that Hyrule had any experience in a kitchen at that.
So without a question, Hyrule was a terrible cook.
But maybe he could learn! With this skill he could make meals whenever he wanted instead of looking longingly at the dishes made in towns that cost too many rupees. Maybe he could be better than Wild! He could figure it out! He's a hero! Nothing as simple as this would defeat him! The idea made him excited.
Oh no...
The food!
While he was zoned out, all the water in his stew had bubbled over the pot, uncontrollably going all over the place. His attempts to stop the flow of bubbles was futile and he dropped his head down in shame. At least the grass is watered now? He thought unhappily as he turned back to the remaining food. Taking a bite of the completely charred veg he noted the complete lack of flavor.
Uhhh... maybe he could give it flavour with the spices?
A glance at the pots of labeled spiced Wild had provided him made it obvious that he had no idea what he was doing. All of these names sounded strange, he thought that spices were just picked from whatever plant you knew that wasn't dangerous! How was he meant to know you were supposed to label them and use a specific one?! One he did recognise was the Goron Spice, one he did not want to deal with again. He made a point of straying faaaaar away from it...
After much indecision, Hyrule elected to just use the one he recognised, salt. He lifted the rock salts and held them in his hand, wontering how much he should put in. Perhaps he should suck it up and ask for help...
A questioning quirk of the eyebrow from Legend who was sitting beside Sky, watching him cook made his head dart back down, eyes wide with embarrassment.
ABORT! ABORT!
...Maybe he should just put as much salt as there was food... that sounded right?
Okay, the food should have been ready by now. He hummed innocently as ge distributed the broth into seperate bowls, handing them to each of his unsuspecting travelling companions.
"HYLIA'S TITS RULIE, WHAT did you put in here!?!?" The exclamation came from Wind, not the first one to take a bite. The traveller looked up to see a series of retching, and dumpimg out of bowls, some having the decency to try and hide it. It was like the first time he tried to cook for them, as if he hadn't improved at all.
He felt disappoinment root itself in his belly as he quietly took a sip from his own bowl, coughing it out.
Yeah, they were right, it was way too salty and way too burned.
Still, the reaction, although deserved he though, still hurt, and he was struggling to hide it.
From behind the others, a certain blue tunic appeared in front of him, Wild. The champion proceded to tip his head back and chug the entirety of his portion in quick succession much to the horror of everyone else. They looked at him with disturbed and shocked expressions and exclamations as said champion wiped his mouth with his sleeve and gave Hyrule a beaming thumbs up.
"Rulie put in effort for us to make some food, you guys should try to not be so obvious about hating it, even if it does taste a bit bad. Look, you've upset our traveller but half of you haven't even cooked for us yet, he at least tried. That's great! Hylia knows that i was making the worst dubious food when i first started."
He then turned to Hyrule and put a hand on his shoulder, "we'll make a cook out of you yet! Just you wait!" And then he got up and walked away.
And to say that the traveller's heart didn't feel so much happier would be a complete lie,
Even if he was still, currently, a bad cook
Ahh wild, a man of not many words but the purest of hearts

(It is currently 1:30 in the morning and I have to be up for 8, but I needed this out)
The Hero of the Famine was what you could best describe….
A grump.
The grump, if you will.
The tallest of them all, standing at atleast 9ft, built similar to an ox than the boar he was cursed to be, muscle upon muscle mixed with a little fat to add to his already intimidating build. Sharp tusks that protruded from his bottom lip and golden eyes that could glare right into the pit of one’s soul- to say that he did certainly scare you for the first while would have been an understatement.
Yet, the same could be said for others- it was a reason he didn’t go into any villages, or strayed to the farther back of the group, kept to himself, with the few save convos with Oracle. . Famine answered in grunts and only grunts more often than not, silent but deadly within the background like a second and what should have been an obvious shadow. Yet it was funny, sometimes, he seemed to embody just that- a shadow, very easily missed amongst the many and it always seemed to confuse you that your attention could disappear from him so easily.
Famine walked in silence, he ate in silence, and he existed in silence
The Hero of the Famine was a grump.
Well, at least, that’s what you thought he was.
A closer study showed the truth, showed his actual kindness- how his heavy grunts were simply masking his thanks when Ghirahim would hand him his food, when his lips would slightly upturn when Nature had made such an obnoxious joke or when he would gently chuckle along to Solly’s wall shaking howls. You would catch him tossing his craps Pastuzo’s way, even patting the great beast’s head in gently if he laid close to him.
Not to mention how he kept in step to you, perfect step, your legs stubby compared to the giants that were Gerudo men, Famine still always kept pace with you.
You had grossly mistaken his attitude and from how he acted, you could only guess that many had made the same mistake as you.
“Unfortunately, it is only natural.” Ghirahim had told you one day, your curiosity finally getting the better of you. “Our wanderer has visage that only brings comfort to the monsters of the land- propaganda of Hylia’s people have tarnished his name.”
Your eyebrows furrowed “But…he saved everyone? Shouldn’t they see that he’s a good guy?”
“But of course! But we’re not in his timeline anymore, we’re travelling through the times- do you really think everyone would recognise the hero that is yet to exist? Or at least, one that doesn’t exist in their time?”
Of course, such an obvious answer was presented yet it had taken you too long to put the pieces together- you were ignorant to his struggles, after all you could so easily slip into a town without anyone batting an eye (even with your glowing eye, magic was everywhere after all) but Famine wasn’t so lucky, he was a monster to the Hylian people.
Your heart ached- he was truly so kind and he had to experience such backlash.
Maybe there would be a way to show your appreciation?
These thoughts plagued your mind as you walked, Pastuzo glued to your slowing pace as the group made their way across a creek, small rapids no match for their strength as they waded through the fresh water to the other side- you knew it was best to hop over the stepping stone path than to even attempt to try and push your way through. Deep down you knew it was a scene waiting to happen.
Pastuzo waited halfway for you as you leapt from rock to rock, still too deep in your own world to realise that the next rock was a little too mossy for your travelling boot, a single wrong step sending you falling forward, the next rock sure to crack your temple as you got closer, and closer with a yelp at your lips-
Until you realised you had stopped falling.
Your nose was a breath away, eyes pinpointed right onto the collection of moss growing almost perfect in the centre. Turning your head back, you spotted the giant holding firmly onto your clothes, blue in colour and belonging to the exact pig-man you had been just thinking about when you body rose into the air, a little too far up for your feet to meet the ground before you were very unceremoniously dropped onto Famine’s shoulders, adjusted for your benefit and comfort.
Famine whistled for Pastuzo, who bounded over quite quickly, shaking the water free from his fur then continued on with a groan.
Without even a single word, he turned back to the direction of the group and continued on like you were currently sitting on his shoulders.
You fumbled, of course, thinking of a word to say, for a question to ask, for an action to commit, for something, anything-
Your brain only relaxed when he gently patted your ankle, almost sensing the tension built up in your body and doing the only reasonable thing in the situation- showing you comfort in your moment of struggle.
Your arms came to rest on his head, chin following in a way to make yourself more comfortable as you finally sighed, a smile blooming.
“Thank you, Famine.”
You didn’t miss his grunt.
“You’re welcome.”

LINKED UNIVERSE HEADCANONS BECAUSE FUCK YOU
(mostly wild, time, twilight, sky, and wind centric cuz those are the main games i've played)
they're all trans
people think that time is the dad of the group but nah. it's twilight
four uses "we/us" pronouns (they/them but actually plural)
wild will either cook the most delicious fucking food you've ever seen in your goddamn life or a pile of rocks (canon)
wind can see ghosts. they all know this. however, sometimes he'll say that there's a spooky ghost when there's not just to freak them out (wild knows. he doesn't say shit bc it's funny)
sky can cook one (1) dish and it's pumpkin soup (he learned after he had to work at the lumpy pumpkin to repay them for breaking shit) (everything else he makes is inedible)
most of them are nonverbal (bc autism and also ptsd)
you'd think that time knows sign language but NO because he grew up in a forest around fairies who don't have? visible hands?? i think?? (he learns sign from wild)
also i've seen people say that time Doesn't Cuss which is simply Not True. let him say fuck. he deserves to say fuck.
the only one of them who doesn't cuss is probably sky. but there are exceptions
actually no i take it back. that fucker says fuck too
All Of Them Should Say Swear Words
please they're so tired just let them say fuck
the ones who have a hookshot are ecstatic to tell the ones without a hookshot about the joys of using it (ex: sky showing it off to wild, who has stars in his eyes, talking about how it'd make climbing in the rain so much easier)
speaking of sky and wild- the realize that there's a merchant named beetle in both of their eras. weird as shit. sky is like "wtf" but wild kinda just nods and goes "yeah okay why not sounds about right tbh"
nightmares
nightmares
have i mentioned nightmares? because they all have nightmares
also nearly all of them have had Queer Encounters and they vent about it!!
sky talking about how ghiriham was UNFAIRLY hot
twilight still sad over midna :( (they're gay btw don't question it they just are)
(wind is an exception bc. he's a fuckin child)
wild lowkey bein like "yeah tbh.... ganondorf before he was mummified?"
time has a wife. time loves his wife
wasn't there that one ship with hyrule/ravio?? haven't played that game so idk but they seem gay (edit: oop it was legend/ravio not hyrule/ravio lololol)
fuck what was this post about again?
they all sleep with a weapon under their pillow (or with no pillow!! just weapon! :] )
some of them (sky) are very heavy sleepers while others (time) are very light sleepers
it's a nice balance because twilight and wild will wake up at the ass crack of dawn and then wind won't wake up until noon. they make a schedule
people also portray them as being So Fucking Awkward but i disagree. have you PLAYED a zelda game? these fuckers will waltz into town, fix every single person's problems, and become the new village icon in the span of two hours. they're so fucking friendly omfg
like these fuckers have fought MONSTERS they've fought DRAGONS and CORPSES and the KING OF EVIL they ain't afraid of a little human interaction (except when they are)
hylia will throw them in a room together and they'll all be like "hi!! :] am link i go hyah" "omg no way me too!! :0 look at my shiny sword and my bag of bombs" "sick"
sky would be like so fucking guilty like "im sorry i failed and got cursed by a demon king guys :(((" and everyone else would be like "oh nah don't even worry about it lmao happens to all of us"
maybe i'll make a pt 2 once i finish my homework who knows

<shakily rolling into your inbox> Would you gift us with chapter commentary, please?
Tumblr media
Your wish is my command:
Framing the past section around headlines was not my original plan. I wanted to do a repeating refrain of "This is how the war ended," but when it came time to actually write it, I was bored with it. Yeah, kinda thought about it too hard. So I went back to the drawing board.
I also considered framing the chapter around the passing seasons, but that seemed too boring. I wanted something with a bit more pizazz.
Plus, one of my favorite genres of fan work is in-universe media like newspapers and magazine covers. This is a pretty weak attempt at it, but at least I threw my hat into the ring.
I've been trying for a while now to imply that the original HW storyline is what was spread as propaganda to the people of Hyrule, but this is the first time I made it really, really clear.
So the engineer being assigned to the coast is a reference to how the DLC that features Toon Link is the one where there's suddenly an ocean. Very smooth of me lol
This chapter ended up being a bit of a dumping ground for all of the relationships I was ignoring in favor of writing about the brothers, ironically because I too was too consumed with the engineer and the child to write about anything else, which in turn really drove home how all-consuming their presence was for Link
The fun thing about Midna's scene is that her and Link going on nightly walks together was one of the very first ideas I had for CTB by virtue of it being inherited from when I thought I was going to write a romcom. Incredible that it took half a million words to finally get to it.
My favorite part of the past is the bit where Link writes all of the letters to the engineer. It's just a lot of fun to sit there and figure out what kind of bullshit he would spout to kinda apologize but not really. It was even more fun to punch him back down with Lincoln's brutal response. Just rereading it, I feel like you can tell I was having a blast.
I also had a lot of fun finding ways to show symptoms of Link's alcoholism getting worse without him realizing it. The constant headaches, the nausea, the shakey hands, the sensory sensitivity-- him experiencing all of this and going so deep into denial that he can't understand why his body is reacting that way.
It's been so long since I've managed to give Toto some screen time that I kinda forgot how much I like his character? He's just a guy, but I like that he's just a guy. But I don't think I made it too clear in the chapter that in their friend group, they were the least friends with each other. Link was closer to Anders, and Toto to Uri. They're being driven together by virtue of being the only ones left, moreso than I initially conveyed.
And, of course, I got to talk about Uri again. Again, Uri is always so interesting to handle because he is a character who we will never see in person and Link is too traumatized by the death of to think about in detail. Even now, Uri feels like a mystery. All we know about him is how Link feels about him.
And finally, Zelda. The thing about Zelda is that I feel like her goals are really transparent, but I always get comments from people who want there to be this moment where everything about her is spelled out. And, despite the fact that she monologues about her feelings here, I don't think this is exactly what everyone was hoping for. The more I read it over, I can see how she probably just got more confusing.
Also, I know I need to stop writing monologues. But have you considered that the monologues are sexy?
I feel like I should say something about how Zelda's relationship with Hylia, but it really speaks for itself. I will say that as much as I like how BOTW is so ambiguous with Hylia, I am a little bit more fascinated with the idea that "your god is real and they specifically hate you." Like, how are you supposed to cope with that? We should all be thankful Zelda isn't more fucked up than she is.
I should also say something about her thoughts on the engineer... so first, my goal with that relationship was always for it to be toxic from both ends, with the engineer trying to use her while she uses him-- which gets even more complicated when you consider all the ways Zelda echoes Link. Like Link, she sees parts of herself in the engineer. Unlike him, she wants to save be saved, so she in turn saves him. Link hates himself so much that he has to drag everyone else down with him.
In the era of everyone wanting Zelda to no longer be a damsel in distress, it's kind fun to give her the traditional goal of being saved by someone else, to then twist it around. She is begging to be rescued, but she won't fix anything herself.
This idea really goes against the popular depictions of HW Zelda, which is why I have iterated before that this Zelda is not Artemis. She's her own thing.
There was going to be more about how the war ended, but I decided to keep it for next chapter because (you guessed it) the word count got too long.
On to the present--
Congrats to everyone who said they wanted to see more of Spirit and Warriors talking shop. You really won with this chapter.
That being said, I always think that I never write what people want when they want it. Like I will write a chapter with a lot of action, so everyone says they want more action next. But then I follow it up with a chapter of people just talking, so I get a lot of people requesting more of that. But then, it's back to heavy action.
All that's to say that I feel bad that there wasn't more character drama this chapter
Also, I feel really bad for not including either Hyrule or Wind in this chapter. Those two are the characters people ask me to write more about the most. But unfortunately, the thing about juggling a large cast of characters is that some times you have to sit down and get a few of those characters out of the way for a bit so that we can focus on other things.
I don't want to make it sound like I was targeting those two on purpose. They just had the best excuse for not going on the Nephus mission.
Speaking of which, I feel terrible for constantly finding ways to leave Lana and Linkle out of the action-- and that's after I've talked so much about adding more women into the story to balance out the default nine dudes LU requires me to add. But again, there are so many characters that I have to find ways to leave some of them behind. And again, it was really easy to give them an excuse to not be in the main action. But It's probably a bad thing that they are easily excused. I should work on that.
And I know I can write scenes with a shit ton of characters talking together. I've done it plenty of times in CTB and other ensemble stories before it. But it's a lot of work, and when I need to focus on more important plot points, the last thing I want to juggle is balancing every scene so that everyone has something to do.
Sorry to belabor that point. Sometimes, I get really annoyed with how big the cast it when it's not even my fault.
It is my fault. I just want to complain.
I appreciate everyone who has their own version of Spirit going on more legendary adventures while he is wearing his OSHA mandated work uniform. I know the Heroes of Hyrule are not unionized, but I at least would like to make sure he is properly dressed with an adventure.
That being said, his Castle Guard uniform was partially inspired by the uniform for the Free Planets Alliance in the original Legend of the Galactic Heroes:
Tumblr media
That is not a great photo, but I was envisioning something like this-- "this" being a more modern cut with clear nautical influences (cause the Castle Guard was probably originally a navy)
Also the crest on Spirit's uniform is Tetra's pirate emblem. Do not get be started about how I fucked up the crest of the New Hyrulean royal family back in chapter 6 and how I have been looking for some band-aid to place over that mistake so that it would look like I did it on purpose
I didn't expect the scene where Spirit talks to Four to be so polarizing. I didn't even think it was a significant moment when I wrote it. Yet I've seen a huge gambit of reactions, from people calling Spirit cruel or others saying that the moment was sweet. That being said, I am living for this. If there is one thing I want right now, it is for everyone's opinion on Spirit to be split.
Did you guys enjoy me trying to write about how machinery works? Honestly, I could have probably cut all that, but I did so much work establishing the mechanics behind the ganons in previous chapters that I felt like I had to go through with it.
My original plan was for Warriors's plan to involve taking Philo hostage from the start, but I changed it because writing a kidnapping scene would have been too much work. It still really bugs me. The way the chapter is written now feels really cheap, but again. I didn't feel like I had enough space.
I also ran into the fun problem of wanting to show the nuances of Philo and Icarius's relationship when one can't speak and the other would not speak Hylian. Legend saved my ass a bit with this one, but I don't know if all of the little details got through.
Speaking of which, I should talking the House of Nephus
So obviously, I wanted the House of Nephus to reflect the original brothers dynamic. The idea is that they are what Warriors, Spirit, and Time/Mask would turn into if both Spirit and Mask stayed.
Except, in practice, I had to give them their own distinct personalities so that they wouldn't be boring as fuck
Icarius and Philo got away with getting small but really effective changes. They both still feel like reflections of Spirit and Time respectively
But Nephus.... so my original personality for him was someone as jaded and mean as Warriors is at his worst. But he felt too much like Zelda or Impa. So I went back to the drawing board to find some character angle that would be really interesting and effective for how little screen time he will ultimately get.
My inspiration came from the Virginia Woolf seminar I was in when I first started working on CTB. I was thinking a lot about rich, British assholes; very specifically about the kind who are self-prescribed intellectuals who fetishize non-white cultures while maintaining the superiority of Western imperialism.
So with that in hand, I got rid jadedness and turned Nephus into a guy dripping with charisma but is unaware of how terrible of a person he is. And as a reflection of Warriors, he works thematically.
But you can make the argument that this is not the story for this kind of a character, especially when I have already gone through such lengths to clarify that Hyrule is an imperialist nation that echoes America. You can see me poking fun at it in some of the dialogue during this scene, but still.
(And it gets worse when you look at the subtext of how light vs dark magic is treated between Hyrule and Faovaria).
So, yeah. I deserve some criticism for this one. I know it. But I didn't change it because I just liked how immediately interesting Nephus was. I couldn't think of an alternative that would have been as effective as this affable evil. Sorry about that.
Another idea I had was that Nephus was going to be the Faovarian equivalent of the Hero of Hyrule, and he would even have his own dual blades of dark and light magic to prove it. I ended up not doing this because it was too heavy handed.
I originally was going to keep the swords, and I even realized that if I had planned things out a bit better, the dark magic sword could have been Ghirahim. I decided that it would have been too out of left field to have worked, but man. I have regretted since day 1 that I cut Ghirahim from the story. I'm sorry, Ghirahim.
And then I didn't even include the swords. Motherfucker.
That actually was a genuine mistake on my part, because the point of the swords would have been to give Nephus's speech on his religion more credence. We as the audience know that the goddesses exist. And yet... why does there seem to be more to the gods of this universe? Are Hylia and the Golden Three really just oracles? If Nephus has these cool swords, what other powers and weapons does Faovaria have within its borders? You know, just world building stuff.
I came up with too much story for the House of Nephus than what I will ultimately have space to include in CTB. I'll try to strategic so that you won't be annoyed with the lack of answers from some of the questions you probably have.
As important as Nephus is, he's ultimately not the main antagonist of the story. If I was willing to write 20 more chapters, I could do a lot more with him, Philo, and Icarius; but I would like to see the end of CTB someday lol
Originally, only Time, Spirit, and Midna were going to go with Warriors to meet Nephus. There was definitely going to be this bit where Spirit and Warriors were going to be like "oh fuck, he's hot" as Nephus flirted with them. Meanwhile, Time (a married man) would be sitting there like "really??? both of you have horrible taste??"
I am also realizing I forgot to write a moment where Warriors is horrified to realize that Nephus was going to make Philo sit there in pain instead of rushing him to a doctor. Fucking hell.
Also, that Nephus's spirit feels normal to Spirit is important. Not on a plot level, but thematically. Just hang on to that thought next time you think about the whole spirit sensing thing.
I always knew that CTB was going to evolve into a Triforce quest story. There's no way I could write about a guy who's supposed to be this brutal strategist and not let him realize he has an easy solve to everything. But I also didn't want this to be easy or feel cheap. It's why I went through all that effort to establish that getting those pieces would involving going up against the Royal Family and the Knights of Hyrule. It's going to be hard, and it will involve all the fighting and manipulating you expect CTB to have. It'll also involve moral dilemmas.
After all, we've been talking about the moral dilemmas presented by the Triforce since at least chapter 6 (remember when I said that there was so much set-up in that chapter for stuff that was for far later in the story? Hello, pay off!)
All that's to say that I am worried that people don't like this direction. I have gotten a few comments about how excited people are for Warriors's plan, but only time will tell if this ruined the story for some people.
And I know I worry a lot about ruining CTB. That's not a problem that's going to be solved any time soon, so let me have this one.
Finally, the chapter was going to go until Time's talk with Warriors. Decided to move it to next chapter because, you guessed it, space.

DAY 1: "I've got you"
The chain is very, very bored. If you can’t tell.
Everybody is either draped over each other, or sitting down and staring at the sky. Well, the younger of the group were piled up like dolls, Time, twilight, warriors and sky were all chatting as if nothing was wrong.
“ AgH!” Wind throws his hands up, pushing himself off of a Four who was currently face first in the grass, letting out a muffled ‘oomph’, “what do we do ?” The teen huffs, looking towards Time.
“Don’t look at me, maybe you should just enjoy the sounds of nature, boredom makes way for ideas.” Time said.
No it doesn’t.
“Maybe we could go treasure hunt-“ Wild jumps off, boosting himself off of poor four.
“ No! No no no no, Legend already has a bad enough hoarding problem, and you’re almost as bad as him!” Warriors spoke up.
“That’s not true and you know it!” Legend jumped up, flinging four, who was draped across his stomach, finally drifting off, onto a cozy Hyrule with a yelp.
“Oh!” Twilight snaps his fingers, “let’s play a game!” He grins, he knows how to deal with bored children. The younger half of the chain was probably just the same!
“Treasure hunting is a game-“ Wild started to suggest.
“No- no treasure hunting.”
“Buzzkill.” They hiss.
“Anyways, what game? Tag? Catch? Maybe hot and cold? OH-“ wind started throwing every game he could think of out into the metaphorical table.
“Ah- how about hide and go seek? We should all know that one right?” Sky suggested.
“Hide and go seek?” Hyrule jumped up,Four rolling off, at this point he didn’t even care, getting up and sitting beside hyrule.
“So who’s it then?” Four rubbed his eyes, looking at the rest.
Time grinned, “I could.” The one eyed man raised up his hand lazily, followed by terrified eyes of the rest.
“What no! You find everybody in the span of two nanoseconds!” Wind exclaimed, throwing his hands up once again.
“Come on, don’t give me that much credit! I’m mediocre at best.” Time tried.
“Don’t you even dare joke about that.” Legend narrowed his eyes at the older.
August was not a great time for hide and go seek.
“Really guys? Really?” He raised an eyebrow.
“How about Wild instead?” Sky pointed out.
“What- actually, okay yeah, I think we’ll actually survive 20 seconds with Wild.” Wind sighed in relief
Said Wild had snuck off for treasure hunting.
“ARE YOU KIDDING ME-?”
“2…1.. ready or not here I come!” Time said in a sing-song voice, he already knew where everybody had tucked themselves, how exactly?
A magician never reveals his secrets, as they say.
The small woods were peacefully silent, save for the squirrels and bird chitter of course, the the occasional rustle of leaves from a deer. He would just go grab everybody immediately of course.
But where’s the fun in that?
Besides, it’d lure them into a false sense of security before scaring their socks off, yes?
He walked around, whistling a random tune that’s been stuck in his head for a few days, eyeing the rock where Legend and Hyrule has crammed themselves behind, probably beside the piles of fallen autumn leaves from what it looks like.
Slowly, he made it sound as if he was walking away, walking in place and whistling softer, softer.
Stop.
“Hyrule, get off of me!” Legend whisper-yelled.
“Agh! by Hylia I’m not even on you!”
“Yes you are!”
“It’s literally an arm.” Hyrule deadpanned.
“Move your arms then it’s like you’re trying to break my rib cage with it.” Legen dramatized.
“There’s not enough room for that!”
Slowly, he reached into his back, slipping on the stone mask, walking ever so carefully to the two quietly bickering heroes.
At once, he climbed in the rock, above them, and yanked off the mask.
“I’ve got you!”
Legend proceeded to produce a shriek that sounded awfully close to Malon when she sees a spider in the shower.

Write some ✨fluff✨, any characters you want just vibing on a fall day playing in fallen leaves 😌😌
Could be lu or something else!
OR you can draw that prompt!
ehehe fluff. time likes leaves, right?
"RAAAAAH!" Wild slams a ball of leaves onto Twi, who squawks in surprise and stumbles.
"Wild!" Twi shouts, spitting bits of leaves out. "I swear to Hylia-" he grabs his own ball of leaves and throws it at the Champion.
The Chain had been dumped in Wild's Hyrule, specifically the Akkala region. The reds and oranges on the trees were a welcome difference from the miles of green they had been traveling through. Warriors had immediately started gushing about pumpkin spice, to which Legend's response was usually in between a scoff and trying to slap the Captain.
Wind watches the older boys throw leaves at each other, curious. Time walks up behind him. "Something on your mind, Sailor?"
"Why are the leaves orange?" Wind asks.
Four whips around in surprise, having overheard the situation. "What do you mean, 'why are the leaves orange?' It's autumn!"
The sailor's eyes widen. "Your guys' leaves turn orange in autumn?"
Sky join in on the conversation. "Yours don't?"
"Palm trees are green all year," Wind shrugs, before looking over at where Wild and Twilight had made a leaf pile. "Ooh, what are they gonna do with that?"
"Jump in it, probably," Time chuckled. "How'd Wild rope the Rancher into that?"
Wind runs over to where the leaf pile was being built. Hyrule follows him, eager to join in on the chaos. The four discuss their plan, laugh, and continue building up the leaf pile. Sky and Four start looking at the leaves, trying to identify each tree. Legend walks up to Time and rolls his eyes.
"Can you please get Wars to shut up?" the Vet asks. "He's been talking about pumpkin spice for the past thirty minutes, and I can't take it anymore. You should be glad I haven't strangled him yet."
Time laughs. "Go join in on the leaf pile. Or you can join the on-going leaf identification debate between Sky and Four."
Legend nods. "That doesn't involve pumpkins. I'll do that." He walks over to Sky and Four, and the three get lost in their conversation about leaf shapes.
Now it's War's turn to walk up to Time. "How are you, Old Man?" he asks. "Not going to join in on the fun?"
Time smirks. "I will. I just need to get my armor off first. Leaves and armor don't go well together." He takes off his breastplate and lays it down by the Chain's pile of stuff. He rolls out his shoulders and sighs, taking a look at his surroundings, head-counting his boys. They're all safe. They're happy. He looks at Wars, who has a wicked grin on his face. "Alright, ready."
"Good," Wars says, and waves over the leaf pile gang, who all come running. Before Time knows what's going on, they all dunk leaves on his head, yelling and laughing. Wars stands off to the side, laughing. He's glad to see that his men are happy. They needed this break.
"GAH! Wild!" Time picks up the Cook like a log, and reaches for Wind, who runs away cackling.
~~~~~
Later, Sky, Legend, and Four come back from their leaf escapade, looking like they're carrying miniature flames with all the leaves they're holding. Warriors waves them over to the leaf pile, where the rest of the Chain has collapsed, sleeping or half-asleep. "They had a leaf-pile battle," the Captain clarifies.
Sky laughs and falls into the leaf pile, snuggling up next to Wind. Four scoots in between Wild and Hyrule. Legend chuckles. "You gonna join them?" he asks Warriors.
The Captain shakes his head, smiling. "I'm okay. I only watched the fight."
Legend sits down next to Wars and sighs, smiling. "I like autumn."
Wars nods and hums in agreement. They watch the wind shake the trees, making the leaves tremble like flames.
The Chain with My Hero Academia Quirks
Quirks and info about them are under the cut
Time - Mortal Essence
Mortal Essence was something I came up with for my Percy Jackson OC but then I thought of it and was like HELL YEAH so it’s Time’s now
Basically, in my head, god’s have their essence that mortals can’t see or they will die instantly. Like with Semele, Dionysus’s mother, she saw Zeus’s essence and disintegrated immediately
In contrast, a mortal essence is an essence that can make the user have powers on par with gods, or turn the user into a god temporarily
We all know about Fierce right? You know, the war god that can temporarily take over Time’s body? Well, Fierce is Time’s quirk.
Sky - Goddess Guardian
Ok…so maybe he’s the goddess’s guardian but shhhhhhh
This quirk was inspired by Demon Snow, an ability from Bungo Stray Dogs
Basically, Sky has a goddess or an avatar of a goddess who protects him and can and will kill you should he ask her to
He’s best friends with her, don’t worry
I mean, Sun was also in the academy guys, she can and will fuck you up should you try and hurt Sky
That being said, Sun is and isn’t Sky’s quirk
I might say that it’s Farore that’s his guardian instead of Hylia because his girlfriend is Hylia(technically)
Twilight - He technically already sort of has one(Wolfie) but Essence
If you watched My Hero or just know Todoroki’s backstory or you watched Heroes Rising you’ll know that quirks are hereditary
Twilight has sort of inherited Time’s quirk
BUT
He sort of has Malon’s quirk too
Malon has a quirk that allows her to command any animal to do something that she speaks to
But anyway, Twilight’s essence quirk allows him to turn into anything that he has DNA to as long as it is in his system
Plot twist
He can only turn into animals which makes things a little weird for him sometimes
His favorite for in his wolf form(obviously) he enjoys growling at people and he thinks that he looks cool
Warriors - Frost Blades
Warriors is just an ice user. I can sense it in my bones
Frost blades are mostly what they sound like
Blades made out of frost. If he’s mad enough and his quirk loses control, they can be solid ice
How the blades work is, no one but him can hold the blades, without the coldness of his hands, the frost will disperse
Knowing the Captain, he mostly doesn’t rely on them. He’s more like Aizawa, he uses his quirk when he feels like he must
Warriors quirk is mostly lackluster, but trust that he can still very much beat your ass without it
Wild - also technically already has one(bullet time) but Spiritual Connection
Spiritual Connection was thought of because of his whole thing with the other Champions
Wild can see and talk to spirits. He can also use their quirks, if they allow him to take it
Spirits love being around him, and he has probably been suspected of having AFO at some point, but he just has a lot of dead friends
Because why have living friends, when you can have dead ones? :3
Wind - Wind Bombs
Wind deserves bomb rights.
Wind bombs are small cyclones that can and will explode, should Wind make them
He probably blew a kid up once when his quirk first spawned
Parents hate him, but he loves his quirk
It’s a nice warning when you get hit was a wind bomb in your chest (:
Hyrule - Cloned
Hyrule can clone only inanimate objects
You know, like how his sword sort of has a shadow? I don’t feel like getting a picture
But when his enemy gets hit with his sword’s silhouette? Yeah, that’s his quirk
He clones money a fuck too
He’s a rebellious teen probably…idk
Legend - Alteration
Inspired by the whole painting shenanigans in albw
But anyway, Legend’s body is able to adapt to any environment
If he needs to keep up with a long legged person, boom, he has longer legs than they have now and now they have to jog to keep up
Need to get your phone that fell in the crack of your bed? Boom. Thin arm
Need to slip into a crack in a wall to kill that roach, bam, small and skinny
My man is more fantastic than Mr. Fantastic
Four - Mental manipulation
You know how the colors have their respective emotions…but not really…I think
Like Blue is usually characterized as angry a lot
Like that
So with Mental Manipulation, Four can alter someone’s emotions or thoughts
It’s that simple
You’re feeling depressed today? Nah. Have some choccy milk and be immensely happy.
Your significant other is making you nervous with how much you want to kiss them? Nah, Four got you, have some more confidence
You think you’re a sane human being? Nah. Go commit arson
So…yeah
There it is
The Chain and their My Hero Academia quirks
Thank you for reading :3
If you have different ideas for their quirks, I’d love to here them in the comments
Anyway, thanks for reading
Things I’ve said/done that the LU boys would probably say/do
Warriors: Want to go into town and go shopping together? Legend: Warriors: *clears throat* Subtle social cue. Legend: *clears throat* Not subtle answer: Leave me alone.
 ~~
Wild: *drinks energy drink at 8pm because who cares if he’s exhausted, he’s experimenting with new beverages*
~~
Four, arguing with himself: Why am I so tired?? This is ridiculous. Four: Probably because I haven’t eaten in eighteen hours. Four: Four: So maybe grab some food from the break room. Four: Well… I guess that’s the issue. Four: Grab the food, idiot. Four: STOP TELLING ME WHAT TO DO DANG IT.
 ~~
Person: You seem so put together and caring. Warriors: *smiles* Warriors, internally: HAHAHAHAHA BOY ARE YOU WRONG
~~
Time literally anytime somebody does something ridiculous, dumb, inconvenient, or illogical: People are stupid.
 ~~
Sky, praying: Dear Hylia, I am heartily sorry for… for… Sky, panicking: uh… I don’t remember the rest of the prayer, what is happening— Sky, having a meltdown: I’VE ALWAYS PRAYED THIS THING JUST FINE WHY IS MY BRAIN NOT WORKING
 ~~
Person: I’m gonna die! Hyrule: Don’t worry, I have a “no dying” policy on my ambulance.
 ~~
Sky: This is far too many emotions at once, I’m leaving, goodbye. *exits building and proceeds to listen to music and daydream the rest of the day*
 ~~
Time: I’m burnt out from this line of work. Person/member of the chain: But you’re getting ready to start your next adventure. Time, internally: Crap, they’re right. Quick, rationalize how this is gonna be okay. Time, out loud: True, but this is a different adventure, so it’ll be fine.
 ~~
Twilight: *casually having a conversation with every wild animal he runs into*
 ~~
Sky after something traumatic happens to him: Hm. I should probably be feeling some way about this, but I actually feel fine! :)
Sky for the next few days: I’m fine. :)
Sky two weeks later after someone says one thing that could be slightly annoying, in a dead serious tone with eyes filled with fire and meaning every single syllable: If you do that, I will murder you.
Sky two hours later, unsettled: I have no idea where that came from.
 ~~
Twilight: *sees a loved one and a dog at the same time*
Twilight, immediately going to the dog: Hello precious pumpkin!!
Twilight after petting doggo for five minutes, glancing at loved one: Oh, hi!
 ~~
Wild: Have you ever been driving and you just look at the side of a cliff and you’re like “I wonder what would happen if I just drove over it?” and then you realize “meh, knowing my luck I’d survive and get treated by a bunch of people who know me and then my Master Cycle would be wrecked and I’d have to pay for that, and my loved ones would be having a breakdown” and so you just stay on the road? Legend: Yeah, I’ve had that thought process before.
Other members of the Chain, staring in horror: Are… are you guys okay??
 ~~
Wind, smirking, nudging Time: Let’s prank someone.
 ~~
Wild after almost crashing his Master Cycle because he wasn’t paying attention: Thank you Hylia for looking out for me because WOW AM I A MORON HAHA.
ok u guys HERE IS MY THEORY
I've seen lots of ppl mentioning how zelda, the unknown (zonai?) girl, and several of the champions descendants have glowing gems that look like the tears on the wall from the previous trailers. imo they, excluding the unknown girl, were probably given these as a gift from zelda for helping the kingdom and aiding link with the divine beasts. tulin probably got teba's maybe bc he was playing with it at the time? or teba passed it onto tulin to encourage him to do great things?.. hang on I'm going somewhere with this let me point out 3 more things
I haven't seen anyone talk about this, but before this trailer got released, we had no idea when totk was taking place. like how far into the future was it?? it just wasn't very clear. but with this trailer, like we literally still have tulin as a small kid, and riju doesn't look like she's aged that much, so honestly only like 5 or so years should have passed. but then why does hyrule look so different?? like I get that they were rebuilding and stuff but NO WAY did they do all that in such a short amount of time. so the flow of time is kinda weird
everyone thinks that the unknown girl is zelda's zonai counterpart, like she's the original zelda on the tapestry from 10,000 years ago and I TOTALLY AGREE. but y'all are like how is she there?? I GOT U JUST HANG ON FOR ONE MORE POINT
in the scene where link reaches out for zelda but misses and zelda keeps falling, someone pointed out that it looks like she started glowing, maybe travelling back in time?? and im like YES but have u CONSIDERED...
zelda is not the only one travelling back in time!!!! everyone that has a tear jewel (which means the champion descendants) got transported back to 10,000 years ago!!
"but crow," you say, "why would they even go back in time? and how?" and honestly my reasoning here is less confident, but I feel like, a couple years after defeating ganon, he comes back as ganondorf and that's when he attacks link's arm and burns it. meanwhile 10,000 years ago, the zonai zelda probably had some sort of prophetic vision with her goddess powers? and she saw that in the future there would be mass destruction from ganondorf or whatever, but she also saw that they somehow had the ancient zonai relics (the tears)? and she used her own on her necklace to bring them back to her time so that they would be able to prevent this whole thing from occurring
which ofc brings up SO many other questions like if they're playing with the timeline then how much will the future change?? why did the zonai hylia only bring them back then, and not when the first calamity from pre-botw happened?
anyways those are my thoughts! 😗 honestly the more I think about it the less confident I am in this theory (u should have seen me 7 hours ago I was vibrating in my seat thinking I cracked the secret code). but I really just see no way for like tulin and riju to still be around but for the world to have changed so drastically, yk? if yall have other thoughts on this though then pls lmk!!
This isn't skyloft (Sky)
Tumblr media
Pairing: Sky x reader
Rating: G
Summary: You end up finding the chain, but you also find your partner Sky, you have a nice catch up.
Genre: Fluff, reunion, romance
Warnings: None
-------
You aren't sure how you ended up here, just that you fell through a portal that reeked of evil. The world around you is not skyloft- or the surface Link had shown you...
Instead it's a field, covered in rolling hills and grass.
Well, you suppose you need to start looking for someone. At least you had been on patrol for the knight academy, dressed with chain armor under your uniform. And you have your sword and shield.
It isn't as if you're defensless.
You start walking towards what looks like the outline of a city.
You hear chatter, which makes sense it's roughly noon, people would be up.
"I dunno, Twi," Someone says, nearby, "Something feels up."
You see a group of men, and they all look armed to the teeth.
Well... That's not the most reassuring thing- but you can still ask a few questions.
"Excuse me? I'm a little lost where am I?"
The men turn, five in total.
One is has a scar across his eyes and face markings to boot, in heavy armor.
One has a pelt and face markings on his forehead.
One has scars all over the left side of hisbface and neck, long hair pulled back.
One is wearing a blue scaf.
And the fifth- has a streak of pink and wears what looks like the most countrified boots you've ever seen.
"Just outside Hateno Village." Says the one with all the scars.
"Okay... And that would be where?"
"South Eastern Hyrule."
"Hyrule?" You ask, confused and definitely a far way from home.
"Yes. The kingdom of hurule."
"I see... I really am lost- okay. Thank you all-"
Another man approaches from behind the others, sandy hair all too familiar. hHs clothes are from Skyloft- and signs point to one thing.
"Link!" Ypu call to the newcomer, "Hylia above - is that you?!"
All five others share a look.
The new comer- Link rushes forwards, "(Y/n)?!"
"I missed you. Oh my goddess!" You smile.
Link picks you up and spins you when he reaches you, pressing your foreheads together when he sees you down.
"What are you doing here?" He asks.
"I fell through a portal- it felt all evi. But you're here! I missed you!"
He moves one hand from around you to your face, cradling it gently. He smiles as you lean into the touch, foreheads still touching.
"You should be at home. Finishing knight school."
"I didn't mean to fall through the ground, Link."
"Sky- who is this?" Asks the tallest of the men around you.
"Oh- right." Link- Sky?- pulls away, hand still on your waist, "This is (Y/n), my partner. (Y/n) These are other chosen heroes. "
"Oh." You say, suprisdd and sad that they're all here. "Well... Nice to meet you all."
They all give you their name- or nickname as you suspect.
And then you're being whisked away by Sky, told that you're going out for dinner, that the inn here has a good dinner.
So you follow him happily, listening to him tell you about whatever be likes. Mostly his adventures and the other heroes.
He takes you inside the inn, stopping to order dinner before Sitting you at a table.
"I've missed you so much, song bird." Sky says to you, his face soft.
You smile back at him, "I missed you too. I can't believe you ended up on another quest."
"Yeah... But I have friends this time."
"That's good."
"I can't believe ypu ended up here- this is very much not our time."
"Yeah... I know. But at least I found you!"
He just laughs, warm and wonderful as he sets his hand atop your's. "I'm glad you found me."
"I guess I'll be traveling with you guys for a while." You say, "At least til I end up at home."
"I'd love that. You're always welcome at my side."
"You're a sap."
"I'm your sap, maybe." He smiles again, a lot more carefree with you beside him.
"Did I tell you Groose has been writing letters?" You ask, almost laughing.
"You did!"
"Once I finish school, I still plan on joining you and Zelda on the surface, if you'll let me."
"Of course I will." Sky says quickly, "I'd love that a lot!"
You grin at him, "Pipit graduated last month, it was pretty awesome to see."
"It's not a suprise."
"No. It isn't. But still. And headmaster Geapora is always asking about you."
"What do you tell him?"
"That you were needed for some new quest."
"Well... That's honest."
"I didn't know what had happened to you actually, it's just what made the most sense."
"I wish I'd been able to warn you."
"It's okay, the whole saving the world business is difficult. "
"It can be."
"Seriously, Link, as long as you come back alive I am not going to complain."
"You're perfect."
"Maybe. More like I'm perfect for you."
"I love you, (Y/n)."
"I love you too hero boy."
You both laugh again, something mending in both of you at actually talking after several months.
The sudden separation was hard on you both- except Sky knew what was happening and you didn't.
"Did you know the fortune teller warned me this would happen?"
"He did?" Sky asks, half baffled half unsurprised. After all the man had always been right if if a little cryptic.
"Yeah! He said I'd 'find my love far in the future below the clouds'."
"When did he say that?"
"A week before you left! I just thought he was telling me I'd get married on the surface or something."
"You thought you'd get married?"
"Well. Yeah? I know it's sappy and neither of us have talked about it... But yeah I can see myself getting married to you."
"You would wanna marry me?"
"Yeah. I would."
"Oh- I'll keep that in mind for when we get back. "
"Good. Just actually come back in one piece."
"I always do!"
"I know."
BackseatDriver!Reader mentions some old cheesy pick-up lines from their old world and one of them gets curious.
So Reader looks at him, gives him an overly-exaggerated sultry look and says something along the lines of "Here, feel my tunic. Wanna know what it's made of? Partner material." or "Do you believe in love at first sight or should I walk by again?"
Then they break character entirely and just snort and giggle.
Meanwhile, the poor guy is just full-on KO. (And will never admit that cheesy pick-up lines worked on him.)
(Even if it does give him an excuse to flirt via teaching them Hyrule's version of cheesy pick-up lines. “I’d say Hylia bless you, but it looks like she already has!”)
I wanna say that Warrior started it.
And he and Reader just start flirting with each other one day trying to one up the other with dumb one liners and try to fluster the other only for Reader to give up on him and instead turn to one of the other boys who is not prepared to be targeted and is borderline taken out on the spot.
Playful jealousy ensues. By the other boys who wanted to also talk to Reader and by Warrior who had Reader's attention first only for it to be snatched away from someone else. Like... "Reader this was our thing- what gives? But also... Oh my god, he went so red. Do it again."
And Reader is loving everyone's reactions. This one they see and notice and are having a blast.
