Mythtalia March!

A Hetalia event for myths: Greek, Egyptian, Roman, Japanese, Norse, whatever you like!

Want to depict Hetalia characters as gods, goddesses, monsters, or other mythological figures? Then this event is for you!

You can put them in the roles of specific characters (e.g. Hades, Anubis, Ameterasu, Medusa, Odysseus) or you can depict them as a mythological creature in general (e.g. centaur, kitsune, rusalka). Ships are welcome, too.

Please let me know in the comments or tags if this idea appeals to you!

That’s it for March!

Thank you all for participating in the HWS Germano Week 2023! Or at least... PART ONE! As you can see on the schedule, the second “week” of Germano Week is coming up in September for those who were unable to get in during March! Thank you all again for your awesome awesome pieces!

Submissions and mentions will be accepted until the end of March officially for having taken place, but this blog plans to reblog any and every piece of germano it can find in the interrim so there’s always a place to turn to to find a catalogue of content.

Once April first hits, I’ll release a proper thank you list mentioning everyone who participated as I do every year. Thank you again to everyone who participated and who wish to participate in September. You’re awesome!

The House of Capet. 987-1328

The Capetian dinasty was the first French dinasty resulting after the death of Louis V (c.967-987) last Frankish king of the Carolingian Empire. In my HC, this Frankish personification is father of both France and HRE, and also Austria. After the colapse of the Carolingian empire, the Kingdom of Francia disappeared and the empire was partitioned in three big territories; West Francia (France), East Francia (HRE) and Middle Francia (the territories that the both of them will be fighting for in the centuries to come, the Benelux spawned from those territorial wars in between them, as well and Switzerland and everything in between).

France and the Holy Roman Empire would become natural enemies, then, as Franco's inheritance would be the same as that of the Carolingian Empire; to become the next Roman Empire. And both kingdoms would spend the rest of the centuries until the World Wars trying to achieve that inherited goal. It has a name, in fact; Franco-German enmity.

Hence, then, the name Holy Roman Empire, from the intentions to become the next great empire uniting the three continents. France is the older son, by the way. The Frank had... a little favoritism towards the youngest, because it was identical to him. And more visibly German, of course. This fueled the competition between the two and the hereditary and historic animosity between the two "princes". It was the Franks that started the monarchical rule, feudalism and the hereditary rule for the sons in Europe. So France, HRE and Austria would be the first princes, haha.

Greenland: "In Inuit culture, women received their Talloqut (chin tattoo) when their skills were good enough to fill the role of a woman and take on responsibilities in their community. The tradition was lost for centuries in Greenland but has been reintroduced by other Inuit groups where it survived. Ever since my land got home rule, it was a chance for me to finally take responsibility for my community. So my tattoos are quite recent!"

The World Championship in Biathlon 2024 just finished up today! Congrats to France for being the best nation, Norway for getting the most medals, and Sweden for taking their first ever gold medal in a biathlon world championship 🥳✨
