People who are wounded and sick must be able to receive medical care, and medical facilities and personnel must be protected and respected. The trickle of humanitarian aid that has been allowed to enter Gaza so far this week is grossly inadequate compared to the massive needs. Medicine, medical equipment, food, clean water, and fuel are all essential and should be accessible to people throughout Gaza. Fuel is urgently needed to power hospitals and ensure that water can be treated and made safe to drink. According to the UN humanitarian agency, less than four percent of the urgent needs are covered so far. In the midst of a catastrophic humanitarian crisis in Gaza affecting more than 2 million people trapped under Israeli siege and bombardment, today we called for an immediate ceasefire to save lives and restore the flow of humanitarian aid.

In Gaza, journalists are passing out from exhaustion and famine. Despite the ICJ ruling, the US and Australia are intentionally defunding UNWRA based on baseless claims by Israel that members of the aid group are Hamas-sympathizers. Netanyahu, of course, has ignored the ICJ ruling. Israel has banned insulin pens from arriving in Gaza, a particularly cruel and inhumane crime to add to their laundry list of offences. Nothing has changed, and things are getting worse.

It is not that hard to not buy things. To not watch things. Perhaps it is inconvenient, and makes you go out of your way, and costs a little more to buy alternatives. But if you were to attend a funeral a day for every child that has died in Gaza so far, it would take you over 27 years. When the worst that will happen to you is that you don't watch a TV show featuring a zionist, you don't buy a specific brand that donates to and supports zionism, how could that possibly compare to the plight of Palestinians who must amputate limbs without anesthesia?

Once again, this is the BDS list of brands to boycott.

i want to change the world so badly but alas, i am only 1 person and no matter what i do it won’t be enough and sometimes i just feel guilty :(

i know i need to take care of myself and convince myself that it’s not selfish.

So OK in 2021 the US abruptly withdrew from Afghanistan and the Taliban promptly seized the capital of Kabul. The US responded by freezing the assets of the national bank at which point the Afghan economy collapsed. There are no jobs to be had, people can't afford to buy food or heat their homes, over 10,000 children under 5 years old have died from starvation and malnutrition this year. Things are incredibly bad.

Foreign aid orgs withdrew when the US government did out of fear they couldn't keep their foreign national staff safe from the Taliban. The UN has classified what is happening in Afghanistan as the largest humanitarian disaster in the world right now.

Enter Nasrat Khalid and Aseel. Aseel is an Afghan company run by Afghan people who live in places from DC to Egypt to remote provinces in Afghanistan. When they provide food, it is food purchased in Afghanistan that people will want to eat, not what westerners think people should have. When Aseel provides clothing, it is Afghan clothing purchased from Afghan shops made by Afghan tailors, not worn out castoffs from westerners. Beneficiaries are not required to do any work for Aseel and are helped regardless of religion or ethnicity. Aseel also provides Afghan artisans access to international customers, helping them not need to become beneficiaries in the first place.

So you can help a couple ways - you can buy an emergency package/donate to a campaign, or you can literally go shopping for any number of beautiful things. It will take about a month for things to get to you from Afghanistan but it's absolutely worth it.

Just found out my father in law is way fucking cooler than I thought.

He's been doing some on the ground work for asylum seekers near the border with local orgs and tribes.

A lot of this work looks like securing resources and humanitarian aid for people.

Sometimes it's looks like food, sometimes tents, and sometimes flights so the people they're helping can safely get where they're going. Today he posted a whole bulk size bag of beans so he could make burritos for some of the 500+ people there (including organizers), so you have an idea for scale.

And he says some of them have been in open air detention centers for days.

Plus, with flu season and winter coming they need some more things than usual and there just isn't enough supply to meet demand right now.

They're desperate for more help. I just saw his posts and reached out since I have y'all (my amazing followers) who've helped me out personally on way more than just one occasion.

So if you would like to contribute here are some things he's given me permission to share with you all (along with the photos).

❗🏳️‍⚧️ Petition to help Russian trans people to get German humanitarian visas

As you know, basically Russia has banned any way of transitioning for trans people and *fully* legalized conversion therapy. This month the government also has claimed that the "LGBTQ movement" should be on the list of extremist groups (lol what)

German queer activists (Quarteera) have created a petition to the Bundestag that suggests the ability to live in Germany for trans people from Russia. However, 50,000 votes are needed for it to be considered.

This is not the change org shit. This petition CAN work. Use translator if you need, it takes just 5 minutes to sign it. It is also highly advised to share this.
