people make fun of girlhood. they treat it like a silly dream of a rose tinted world, an unrealistic fantasy of living the perfect life. they think it is all flowers and sunshine and pretty dresses and dancing to music in your hall in the middle of the night.

NO. girlhood is that but so much more. it is covering your cute fit up in a metro because people cannot be trusted. it is not picking fights even when you are in the right because you never know, what if his wrath destroys your life? girlhood is stepping on your curiosity because, oh, there's only men there. girlhood is sending your live location to family and friends when in an uber, what if that wrong turn wasn't just a mistake? girlhood is knowing you are safe, this is your home and still keeping something around you that you can weaponize because what if the new watchman who came up first to give a bill and the second time 'by mistake' turns out to be a predator?

girlhood is not a foolish dream of falling in love and picking flowers in a meadow, it is a way of life. girlhood is tainted as much with fear and terror and paranoia and worry and that horrifying feeling in your gut as much as it is tinted rose.

Took a much-needed nap, and brain fog is a bit less intense now. Still not back to where I want to be though. Looks as though I'm not the only one going through it either. Seeing many of my mutuals posting similar things like low energy and focus/low spoons, and some are also stuck in spirals. Maybe there's just too much negative energy going on in the world atm, and we're all feeling the effects of it. I can't hardly open anything anymore without seeing something depressing. You've probably noticed I rarely reblog anything political or anything having to do with world events (like anything to do with Palestine right now). It's not that I don't care, but for the sake of my own mental health, I can't. I know that's probably a very selfish take considering everything that's going on, but risking my own mental health won't help anyone.

Hugs to everyone that is going through Stuff™ right now. You're not alone. Do what you gotta to take care of yourself.

Yesterday we lost a real treasure. One who made us smile when the going got hard. And it’s ok to feel sad, to miss someone who you look up to.

Take some time to yourself. Do whatever you need. Draw, write, cry, watch one of his videos just to hear his voice, reach out to others who are grieving. Take as long as you need.
