I am simultaneously one of the physically healthiest and unhealthiest people i know lmfao
#i think it depends on your meter#because I'm always at the extreme which extreme is a coin toss#stamina?? ive run 10k baby#and i can walk or run or whatever forever#bmi? probably in the 0.01% of worst bmi in the country#flexibility? A++ I can stretch everything and i mean everything to insane limits#i eat SO MUCH junk food it's insane like i genuinely have zero restraint#but also I've exercised every day my whole life#sports and speed etc?? fail i always finished last at races#but endurance? i will beat everyone#coordination? zero. agility? 100#it's just really interesting#i haven't checked my weight or height in like two years btw#i have a weighing machine under my bed#but i just. don't it's kavya policy#we ain't going down that route again#i mean i know if im really completely fine i shouldn't care about the stupid numbers#but if i know my parents will know. and it'll be impossible not to care#god only knows how much i weigh atp it's so freeing not giving a shit#but i eat so much junk idc i do exercise but if i pop off early at least i had a fun life with lots of awesome food#i love how junk food is cheap too it's just insta joy#i do poop like three times a day so i think I'm good#anywayyy i love being unhealthy as long as i can get a frooti or kurkure from across the street whatever crisis happens i can deal#...idk what this rant was#moral of the story: fat shame your kids when they do everything right & they will eventually stop giving a fuck and ACTUALLY get unhealthy#like bitch now that I've gotten over my ed I'm all your worst nightmares brought to life and idc 😻#vagueposting the shit out of tumblr dot com

shopping as plus-sized/mid-sized/larger woman is lowkey a nightmare. i just want to look cute and try to feel cute because I don't always like how my body looks!!! yet all the options we have are dresses that are kinda cute, but the silhouette isn't flattering or the patterns are just... not it. like I'm trying to do a little online black friday shopping as a Treat™️ and although I love ASOS the dresses are a little disappointing :( that or the clothing items are waaay more expensive than the "straight sizes" and it's like??? these are literally the same style and article of clothing why tf are you charging an arm and a leg more for a little extra fabric and time??? it's fucking stupid. that or I'll see something that I think is really cute, but the sizes cut off right before mine 🤪 size-inclusive my ass. anywho, if anyone has some decent suggestions, hit your girl up!

The worst time of the year for the army medical staff at Tidworth is September. Oh, how the nurses and doctors hate the month of September during which, for two weeks straight, they see nothing but soldier after soldier for health checks and physical exams to confirm that they’re fit for service.
It’s, unfortunately, repetitive, mind-numbing and time-consuming. It’s also, unfortunately, a whole hands on deck situation. So, everyone who’s not actively doing something else, gets called in to help process the soldiers.
That’s how Kathleen ends up, every year, in the clinic, helping physicians assess the soldiers. Her jobs tend to be easy. More of the same that she tends to already do: measuring heights and weights, calculating their BMI and body fat percentages, using the stethoscope to listen to their heartbeat and breathing, manning the blood pressure gauge…
And, of course, the most interesting stuff. Conducting stress tests and having to strap all sorts of machines and sensors to the soldiers and monitor how they perform as they run on a treadmill, as well as doing physical checks on old injuries, scars…
In short, she spends a long time in front of shirtless men… and even longer touching their chests, arms, backs, and sometimes their legs, to check for injuries, which often ends with her crouching or kneeling at their feet.
And, of course, the stupid soldiers can’t keep their mouths shut. More often than not they make a few remarks about taking her out later, about coming to see her more often, of being lucky they get her for their checks…
It’s a nightmare. Kathleen hates it. In fact, she wishes she wasn’t tasked with that every year… But the choice is her or risking one of the pretty new interns having to do it, girls who haven’t yet developed the thick skin she has, and would likely giggle and get flustered at the lads behaviour… instead of calling them out on it or just downright ignoring them.
September, as it turns out, is also a nightmare for John. But he only figured that out today.
After his Bravo team finished training for the morning, John allowed them to hit the showers and he stayed behind to finish some work and talk with Soap.
As they enter the locker room, the rest of Bravo team is already in the communal showers, talking loudly amidst themselves and laughing, their voices echoing amidst the spraying of the showers over them.
John pops open his locker and starts shedding his workout kit, tossing it into his bag on the shelf. Soap isn’t far from him, a few lockers up, in the adjacent wall, his locker door having his name ‘MACTAVISH’ inside the clear plastic name tag holder, with a post-it naming him ‘F.N.G’ scotch taped below it.
John doesn’t need to pay much attention to know they’re talking about women, especially, the nurses from the nearby Tidworth base. All of them had gone through their check-ups in the last couple of days and, as is typical, they couldn’t keep their traps shut about the pretty women with soft hands doting all over them.
“Oh, mine bent over and pushed those tits of hers right up to my knee.” One of them said.
“Lucky bastard. I got a bloke.” Another replied.
Oh, how many times John had told them to be quiet and keep those sorts of talks to themselves when they were at the barracks, and not in public… But did those knobheads listen? No, never.
John grabbed his towel and 2-in-1 shampoo and bodywash and headed into the showers, taking up one of the vacant spots and drawing the curtain after hanging the curtain just outside his stall.
“I swear she was giving me the look… Definitely wants a piece of me.”
“No bird would want a piece of yer ugly mug.”
The lads continued talking as he let the water run over his body and began quickly lathering himself up with his 2-in-1, washing his hair and face aggressively before running his head under the falling shower water.
“I’m not devout, but this new batch’a nurses they got this year makes me a believer.”
“That’s right, brother.”
One-by-one they started vacating their stalls, still chatting loudly about their check-ups and the young women that treated them, lounging about the locker room and making each other laugh.
“But that arse of hers… I just know she’d bounce so well on my cock-”
“Oh that’s nothing. You didn’t see her last year before they changed the colour of the scrubs… That blue colour just… mmmmm…”
John finishes his shower not long after, wrapping his grey towel around his hip and tying it up to stay still. Then, he collects his 2-in-1 bottle from its perch atop the metal piping of the shower and starts making his way back.
That’s when he hears it:
“It’s no wonder the Captain’s peacockin’ himself around like that… I mean have you seen the size of her tits?”
John’s blood runs cold. They wouldn’t fucking dare. They wouldn’t talk about Kathleen.

Him.
Sergeant Ellis Evans. 
One he’s always had problems reining in.
“Captain’s lucky is all I’ll say… Body like hers… Hell, even I’d forgive that bloody attitude of hers.”
The others laughed as Evans continued.
“I mean, I’m sure Kathleen’s mouth’s good for more than just talking… Gotta be good on her knees.. They call her ‘Brass’ for a reason, right? Bet she leaves ‘em with a nice polish and shine once she’s done.” 
That did it.
John rounded the corner into the locker room and, abruptly, the room fell into silence, breaths hitching and the temperature dropping into an uncomfortable ice.
But John didn’t stop walking at the doorway… In fact, he beelined right for Evans.
“Captain, I-” Evans immediately tried backtracking. “We were just joking, we were just-”
“Keep my wife’s name out your bloody mouth.” John grits at him through clenched teeth before he throws a right cross to Evans’ face.

It’s just past 7P.M. when Kathleen comes in through the front door. John has made dinner for them and little Charlotte is already asleep in her crib by the time she does.
She sets her bag down in the entrance, takes off her shoes, and pads over to the kitchen in search of John.
“Hi…” She greets him softly as she approaches the table, causing him to swivel on his chair to greet her, wrapping his arms around her waist. 
She presses a kiss to his mouth, which he returns. “Hi, Da’lin’.” He murmurs to her once they separate.
“Is she down?” She asks in a soft tone as she looks at him.
“Mhm… Full belly and empty diaper.” He tells her, which makes her smile softly, seeming relieved.
Kathleen feels exhausted, as usual, still not used to the work-life balance that comes from having a 4-month-old baby who doesn’t like to sleep + and a physically demanding job that runs on a 12-hour-shift schedule. 
John swivels back to his previous position, nursing a glass of whiskey with his left hand, the right one resting on the table, the knuckles covered by a blue gel ice pack.
“So that’s what happened...” Kathleen muses as she glances at his iced hand, before backing away to grab herself a plate of food from the cupboard.
“What is?” John murmurs as he glances at her, watching her serve herself of some frozen lasagna and salad.
“One of your lads ended up in my emergency room after some ‘roughhousing gone wrong in the locker room’... I was musing about what he did all afternoon.” She quips as she pads over to the table again again.
“Hm.” John mutters quietly, seemingly a mix of embarassed and annoyed at that fact.
“So what did he do?” She asks as she takes a seat on his lap, perched on his lap, as she pops a cherry tomato in her mouth.
“Talked about you.” John murmurs, wrapping his free arm around her waist. “Only I get to say debauching things about My Wife.” He grumbles as he looks up into her eyes.
Kathleen rolls her eyes at him and shakes her head, but she can’t help the smirk that takes over her rudy lips as he calls her ‘his wife’. “My, Mr. Price, defending my honour, huh?” She jokes as she pops a bit of lettuce in her mouth.
“Defending my honour… and yours by proxy. Just an unforeseen consequence of it.” He tells her, trying to act nonchalant about the fact he broke a man’s nose, eyesocket and three of his ribs, for demeaning his wife.
“Right… Of course… How stupid of me…” Kathleen teases as she leans toward him, pressing a soft kiss to his lips, which makes his blue eyes close, a smile taking over his features. 
“As opposed to… what exactly? There isn’t much up there other than thoughts of my cock, da’lin’.” John remarks, causing her to roll her eyes, annoyed, and flick his head away from her by pushing his cheek, annoyed.
“I can very well just stop thinking about it all together… And I’m sure you wouldn’t want that when I was just about to reward you for defending me…” Kathleen teases as she pops another cherry tomato in her mouth, eyes locked on John and the way his pupils dilated, his cock already stirring awake in his joggers against her ass in her green scrubs.

~ has a huge range of foods in the system, simple and easy to use, popular for a reason
2. The Secret of Weight (TSOW)
~ you put in how much weight you want to lose and it gives you a “calorie debt” (how many cals you need to not eat)
~ it’s also a calorie counter but i find it inaccurate so i just put in my intake at the end of the day
~ the more you are eating under your bmr, the more calories are taken out of your debt
~ motivates me so much to track every calorie and not binge + this is actually how weight works
3. Yazio
~ this is a calorie counting app but i use it for tracking my weight
~ i really like the line graph it makes, helps me track weight fluctuation and motivates me
4. Life
~ don’t fast anymore (bc parents and it triggering binges for me) but it tracks your fasts
~ also can put in how you feel etc.
5. BMI calculator
~ bc i check my bmi everytime i lose a gram and my fav hobby is calculating celeb bmis so this is just easier than having it on google
6. StepsApp
~ the health app takes so long to sync and i’m a control freak so this is just a faster version

hi! this is a little rando but quite awhile ago you posted about each new fat cell you created sticking around forever and it’s been stuck in my head because we actually don’t make new fat cells as adults! the amount you create when your body is developing is the amount you have throughout your life :) ride or dies! so, you’re actually growing each fat cell that’s been in the blueprint of you since day one. pretty cute!! I believe that the fat cells in people with high body fat percentage replace themselves quicker when they reach the end of their lifespan than they do in people with less fat on their body. that’s partially why weight loss is harder the higher your starting point is. also, this may contribute to your ongoing struggles with easily gaining weight. if you weren’t overweight during early childhood development you simply have less fat cells to stretch. you might just not be predisposed to have a fat body…even though it looks so so good on you.
I know you didn’t ask for a biology lesson but hey, it’s your fat, you should know what’s up w it!

Huh, we actually do make new fat cells as adults though 🥲 Check out this research paper that confirms what I remembered from college (bachelors in bio). Human biology used to be one of my special interests 🥰
Also I totally had the same thought that because I was pretty slender up until college, gaining weight is way harder because I’m constantly working against a low natural set point of fat cells. I had always eaten pretty much whatever and maintained a low to mid of “normal” BMI (air quotes because bmi is BS)

In case you want to read! Here’s another article updated in 2022 - even more recent. You are partially right in the average person will have a somewhat constant number of fat cells our entire life, but actually the fat cell population is constantly dying and being regrown. The fat cell count is not constant because we have the same exact physical cells we grow and develop in adolescence - there is various rates of cell turnover (replacement).

This is also an interesting article about how how weight gain can affect fat cells! Research seems a little contradictory but logically from what I know about cell biology/the anatomy of the cell, it make more sense for the fat cell count to be elevated above normal if someone gains a significant amount (ex. double or triple starting weight)

freshman 200 (freshman 15 part 3)
today was Jakes first doctors visit since he started college. This didn’t bother Jake. He usually loved the doctor. The doctor would say how healthy he was and to keep doing whatever he was doing. Today was a little different however. When the doctor came into the room Jake was waiting in, a small look of terror washed over his face. “Uhh” he said. Let’s start with your height and weight.
Jake went to the height station first. “6’ 1’’. Said the doctor. That was the same as last time. Then Jake stepped onto the scale. Jake watched as the number slowly climbed. As it neared 150, he expected it to stop. It did not. The number on the scale climbed all the way to 267 pounds. The concerned doctor wrote the number down. Jake was just confused. Was every scale broken or something? The doctor took Jake back to the room and sat him down the chair struggled under Jakes immense weight. “So. What’s going on?” Asked the doctor. Jake was confused. “What do you mean?” Asked Jake. “Well. You’ve gained over 100 pounds Jake. Your BMI has gone from 20.3 to 35.2. That puts you in the obese category Jake” Jake was stunned. He knew he might have gained a few pounds but 100? How could this happen? The doctor did lots of other tests on Jake and to his surprise, Jake was perfectly healthy. His blood pressure, cholesterol and heart were still perfect. The doctor had never seen anything like it. He told Jake that he most likely wouldn’t even have to lose weight. Infact, the doctor wanted to see how far this could go. He told Jake he would give him some pills to help his appetite. Little did Jake know that these would make his appetite even larger.
for the last few months of school. It seemed like everyone was trying to make Jake fat. With his new pills, he was like a bottomless pit. Jake hadn’t been full in weeks. He would spend the whole day stuffing his face with whatever was in the fridge. He would order food for breakfast, lunch, and dinner. Then he would invite people to his dorm to play video games. The only reason anyone would show up was to see Jake eat however. One time, Alex from down the hall brought over 10 large pizzas. This was like a snack to Jake. He would sit on his bed, completely naked, with a slice of pizza in each hand. Then he would tear through it like it was last meal. Sauce and cheese would coat his chubby face and grease would drip onto his round belly.
the scale in the form has broken a couple weeks ago when Jake tried to stand on it so he scheduled another doctors appointment. This time, the doctor looked quite happy to see Jake. They immediately went to check Jakes weight. 359 pounds. His BMI had grown to an enormous 47.6. The doctor inspected Jakes body. His smooth skin still didn’t have any stretch marks. It was fascinating. Jakes muscles had actually been stronger than ever. Lifting all of that fat was more than Jake had ever lifted. The doctor just examined Jakes body for an hour. He had Jake undress completely to get a better look. He rubbed jakes enormous belly and jiggles his giant moobs. His love handles were huge and spilled over Jakes wide hips. His thighs were the size of thick logs. Jake had even developed a third chin. “I think we need to put you on some stronger pills” said the doctor with an evil grin.

yall asked me how i did it so here we go:
first of all, if you dont struggle with an ed or are in recovery than dont interact or read this. i am pro recovery for everyone except myself. stay safe everyone!!
my situation:
im 167 cm tall
i started at 67.7kgs and now im 43kgs, (bmi 24.3 -> 15.4)
i live with my parents and they after two months noticed and now they watch what i eat
it took me around 5 months but during 2 of them i was just maintaining because of miscalculations and binges
1) meals:
i do omads, its really effective, keep it around 350 - 900 cals a day, i used to fast for few days every now and then but omads work wonders
heres how my week looks:
mon: 400-700
tue: 400-800
wen: 400-600
thu: 350-650
fri: 400-800
sat: 900-1200
sun: 850-1250
omading dinner works quite well and so does omading breakfast, but i prefer dinners, i can keep my morning skinny all day and i dont have to walk outside being bloated af
2) exercise:
i do around 5 hours climbing a week, after 3 months i added a 20 minute workout every day that i dont climb, also sometimes i spent whole days climbing on rocks outside
i also have 2 hours of pe a week
i try to get at least 5k steps, mostly i get around 6k a day
im not a try hard in exercise, sometimes i go inline skating but its for fun
i dont distract burnt cals from the days total. i dont.
3) pürging:
i used to pürge anything that was over 500 cals, but it was useless, dont do it, its not helping, i did this only the first 2 months because of guilt
4) binging:
before i began eating less, i used to binge like 4 times a week (around 4k cals), it used to be my coping mechanism
at first i didnt binge at all, i didnt eat because of guilt, i hated food
lately ive been binging on low-cal stuff which is bad, but at least its not as high cal (i actually crave low-cal things), but now i tell myself this: 'enjoy the emptiness, nothing can fill in the void inside, especially not food' and it has helped a lot
but im not rlly sure what to do about it- it just sometimes happens
5) weight ins:
i do them everyday in the evening before dinner, i dont drink water during the day (dont do this, i forget to drink and am used to that, stay hydrated), which makes me not want to eat because id gain the food and water weight, if i knew i was having two meals id weight in in the morning
6) metab days:
since i live with my parents who now check on me, i do them on weekends - both days, i mostly binge on those days (sometimes even 3k cals) lol
i aim for 900-1100 cals on them because on other days i try to restrict as much as possible and my bmr is around 1200
even though they seem scary, theyre very much needed!!
7) rituals:
i dont snack, only gum - it works amazing (i go through like 30 a day :'))
i always plan my cals for the day in the morning and always add in the food before eating it
i spend a lot of time on edblr and edtwt and edtt, motivating
i always have an emergency snack on me and water, im allowed to eat it if im too dizzy or too weak
8) my tips:
never eat alone. never.
eat only at the table - it makes it really annoying to sit there while eating which makes me not wanna eat
romanticize hunger (not the best but ykyk), be a good ana, be pure, be pretty
wear layers, youre gonna be freezing all the time
vaping/smoking can help if youre already into it, dont start with it just because i said it might work
be patient.
skip any meal you can, fake eating, empty packages, hiding food in clothes, taking in to your room, dirty plates, sitting and staring at an empty cup licking the clean spoon over and over as if the cup was full so you seem like youre eating... anything
dont obsess over food, obsess over being skinny and over fasting!!
dont eat more than 2 meals a day
prepare your own food so you can calculate it right
high volume low cal stuff and high protein stuff are your new best friends (lettuce, peppers, cucumbers, pickles, rice cakes, tomatoes, melons, coldfish, chicken breasts, cottage cheese)
warm water fills you up, so does coffee and tea
be nice to yourself, reward yourself when you do good, make it a game - points for being good -> rewards you can buy with your points, when you mess up you have to extract few points
take it slow, one day at a time or one week at a time, you have plenty of time, messing up is okay (one binge doesnt make you fat just as one fast doesnt make you skinny, but doing it repeatedly will)
if youre getting weak -> increase your cals, its better to get your energy back but maintain for few weeks than it is to be weak and passing out

i cant do longer fasts because of my family, just because this worked for me doesnt mean its gonna work for you, find what you can do and stick with it
i really suck at portion control so i omad, its way easier for me to not eat than to eat small amounts through out the day

I feel my mental health declining. I should be happy with the loss, but I'm not. I can't help thinking that the real loss is only 0.8 lbs because if I hadn't eaten more yesterday and gained, I would have been under 199 lbs.
I actually wondered if I should wait to put on deodorant so it wouldn't mess with my weight.

I go back to the doctor at the end of April to have my liver enzymes checked again. Doctor highly believes I have fatty liver disease, and treatment is weight loss. How much weight do you think I can lose in a month?

How to lose 50 pounds in 16 months without really trying
note: this isn't a weight loss guide it's a poem about my experience with a weird phenomenon affecting my body.
Eat whatever you find in the cupboard at your parents house.
A handful of crackers, a peanut butter sandwich, an egg toastie, muesli for breakfast. switch from soy milk to oat milk about eight months in when your mum realises how much better the carbon footprint on it is. A whole pack of toffee pops in one night, a block of chocolate over two days, the occasional ben and jerries dairy free ice cream because despite the last two entries you are actually lactose intolerant. No fruit, you're allergic. Vegetables when your parents provide them (not that often). Mostly beige food.
Do between one and 2 thousand steps a day, on average. Probably. Only bother checking your steps 10 months in when your new meds give you heart palpitations and you start wearing a smart watch to make sure your heart hasn't always been that fast.
Sometimes walk between 5-8 thousand steps. Regret it for 1-3 days, lying in bed wracked with physical exhaustion that makes it hard for you to move.
Get a dog. Walk her 3 days a week. She could use more, but see the previous stanza if you want an excuse for my laziness.
Have a semi regular conversation with your parents that goes "have you lost weight?" "You say that any time I look happy" "Well you look better, anyway"
Ask your dad if you can borrow his belt, the jeans you ordered to your custom measurements are falling down.
Dig the pair of jeans from before those ones out of your drawer. Finally you're justified in keeping the jeans you grew out of.
Buy a new pair of jeans another size down (those are slightly baggy now too)
Finally weigh yourself, and think at first the scales are broken. There's no way you've lost 15 kilograms since moving home. You normally only weigh yourself at the doctors, on their orders.
Out of curiosity, weigh yourself again a few months later. Another 5 down. What the fuck. Calculate what percentage of your body weight that was (17%).
Think about the rheumatologist who told you losing even 5% of your body weight would help with your pain. Laugh through the pain (it's worse than ever).
Do research. Listen to a podcast about the science of weight loss, disproving scams and exposing diets as breeding grounds for unhealthy, disordered eating. Listen as they explain that your metabolism will fight very hard to stop you losing weight, adjusting even if you're doing it on purpose, so that you maintain your fat reserves. Read about how sustained weight loss is basically impossible (it's been a year at this point, and you're still steadily dropping).
Mention how much weight you've lost to your parents (wow!), your nurse (congratulations!) your doctor (wow you must have been big before! - hang on let me confirm this. Hm. I'll send you for some blood tests).
Your blood tests are fine, you must just be lucky.
Track your calorie intake for a couple of weeks. Maybe you're undereating (no). Google unexplained weight loss (cancer).
Go back six weeks later, you've lost at least another kilo. "Wow!" she says again. She's surprised and confused. You mention if it keeps up you might apply for a top surgery referral, because you know there's a BMI Limit. You never thought you'd qualify. She looks at her notes again and goes "... yeah" in a way that makes you think she's still wondering how this is happening.
You get more blood tests.
And wait for them to come back normal.
You're done being anxious about your health, you think while you walk the dogs. Fuck it.
then you think up this poem while you munch on a couple of gingernuts in the kitchen where the dog can't beg them off you.
Congratulations on the weight loss! You look great!

not sure how much traction this will get but! I just got top surgery friday and here's a short list of things I either wish I was told or wish was talked about more that might help some others!
you have to be so so so careful with what meds you take in the month/weeks leading up to surgery. I fucked up and got mine delayed by over a month because my adhd mixed up ibuprofen and tylenol. check the packet they give you a million times and if you're unsure about absolutely anything, ask. but in general: tylenol is the only pain med that's okay to take in the week leading up to surgery. be honest about alcohol/drug use because there's specific instructions for those as well.
a lot of insurances will need you to make sure it's coded as gender affirming surgery rather than plastic surgery or they won't cover as much of it. make sure you ask your insurance if there's anything like that that might screw you over later.
if you have a chronic condition like I do (type 1 diabetes) you and your surgeon might find it best if you stay overnight. if not, you'll likely be sent home day of so make sure you have a responsible adult that can drive you to and from your surgery.
if you are fat, that is totally okay and there's plenty of surgeons that will work with you. however, make sure your surgeon/hospital doesn't have a bmi/weight limit. it's bullshit and completely unfair, but you may have to look elsewhere (I'm lucky and my surgeon was amazing about that). besides, they probably aren't very good at their job if they have that and you'll find better care with another surgeon anyway
speaking of being fat and getting top surgery, ofc it's all personal preference, but I'd really recommend considering leaving some fat on your chest. fat cis men have some fat on their chests and it's easy for it to look concave if your surgeon removes all the fat. discuss some options w your surgeon and look up post op pics of other fat people that have had top surgery to find stuff similar to what you're going for!
they are going to put you on strong pain meds after, probably oxycodone. if you have a history of addiction or a family history, be aware of that and talk to your doctor about other options if you would rather not take it. if you've never taken oxy before, nausea is a super common symptom so you can totally ask your doctor to prescribe you an anti nausea medication to take alongside it. it doesn't always 100% help so I would also recommend making sure you don't take it on an empty stomach.
honestly, for me the pain hasn't reached above a 6. everyone is different ofc but it's a very dull achey sort of pain. the worst parts, according to me and others I've known who've gotten top surgery, are: nausea, itching, fatigue, constipation, the drainage tubes tugging (and if you don't have gauze under them like I do, chafing), and for me I've started to get back pain from having to sleep sitting up
have a ton of pillows on hand because you're going to have to sleep sitting almost the entire way up on your back. it sucks.
have easy to open and grab snacks piled up! even if you have someone around to help you, sometimes you won't have an appetite for a whole meal and it's always nice to still be independent
speaking of constipation, invest in some milk of magnesia or ask for medication to be prescribed to help you with it. the anasthesia and oxy are gonna work together to make you miserable on that front.
drink plenty of water! make it fun w packets if you have to but your body just went through major trauma and you're going to need it
every surgeon/hospital has different instructions. I see a lot of these posts and they'll list certain things as total fact that are completely contradictory to what I've been told and what my boyfriend was told when he got his. this isn't to say either one is correct, but in general take these posts with a grain of salt and go with whatever your surgeon/hospital instructs you to do. especially as far as exercise, arm movement, showering, etc is concerned.
