Would you be willing to share how you do your lineart, particularly for skin? It looks so good and I'd really love to see how you accomplish that. Areas I focus on: forehead, eyebags, nasolabial folds (aka smile lines) and the jawline.
Don't be afraid to add lines in these areas. Depending on your art style you can go wild with it, I tend to only do 1 or 2 strokes.
Usually the jawline is less prominent due to loosening skin on the face, so I would avoid drawing it too sharp.

hi 🤍 here's the best I can do:
detail
- used when describing an unfamiliar sense
- ex. taste, visual senses, smell
- taste: think of sweet and salty, of bitter and umami, link it to common flavours—fruit or candy, for example.
- smell: similar to taste, but through the nostrils. smoky, damp, crisp.
- hearing: sounds. rustling, cawing, moving.
etc.
"Writing which effectively uses descriptive detail will allow a reader to do more than merely see words on a page. Original description gives writing a sense of honesty and believability, while concise details can help enhance your focus."
transition words
- used to introduce a new idea / connect two together
- render the story smoother
here is a post I just made for transition words! they can be used at the start of a sentence or in the middle—and a lot of them are used without you knowing, so I wouldn't worry too much!

Hi, I've been alright, hope you're doing well :)
Venus square Lilith: This aspect definitely creates a lot of passion and desire. However, it may cause issues around self-worth, beauty, and values. On the other hand, both of you can face your insecurities and past hurt together. You as the Lilith person may feel like you have to fight for his attention. Other times, it may feel like he overwhelms you with attention and wants you to pay attention to him so much that he's not giving you your space. He as the Venus person may be intimidated by your allure and Lilith-type qualities.
Uranus square Lilith: You as the Lilith person bring out the inner rebellious side of him and inspire him to make changes whether on a collective and/or personal level. Both of you seek independence. Uranus person can seem detached, even when they care deeply. Take your time to develop trust with one another and show him that you value what makes him unique (he should do the same). Don't be afraid to be yourself with him. Expect ups and downs. This aspect is certainly challenging but ultimately can be exciting, enlightening, and freeing.
Saturn square Lilith: The tension in this aspect can create conflict but also the potential to grow together. As the Saturn person here, he may need to learn where to loosen up and let go of the need to control. You may learn that some structure is nice and you can learn to rely on him without fear that he's going to take control.

Hey, you mentioned you got diagnosed with a sleep disorder this year and I was wondering which one and how you ended up getting diagnosed with it? Asking for me lol, I think I might have a sleep disorder
Yeah so I got diagnosed with something called idiopathic hypersomnia (IH). It was a very long process. For years I was sooo sleepy throughout school and college. Everyone says they're tired so I thought it was just normal. Plus I was diagnosed with depression so my doc and I assumed it was a leftover symptom. Switched meds several times, used caffeine pills, even put on stims for a while. I would sleep perfectly at night and would take 2+hr naps during the day. I would regularly doze off during class and work no matter how hard I tried to stay alert Like I'd think I was awake and realize I was typing gibberish on my computer.
And so last year my therapist said, go see a sleep doctor. So my primary doctor referred me to a neurologist.
The testing part is pretty complex. You have to stop mental health meds for 2 weeks before the test. The 1st part is called a polysomnogram and it's to see how you sleep at night and to rule out any possible causes for the sleepiness (sleep apnea, sleep walking, etc). You get hooked up to a bunch of electrodes to measure your brain waves and then you sleep for the night.
Then if the polysomnogram is normal (sleep apnea or not sleeping at all would make the next part inaccurate) they do the mslt, multiple sleep latency test. Basically you, or try to, nap every 2hrs. You get a certain amount of time to fall sleep, and they measure how fast you do and if you enter rem (dream sleep).
For narcolepsy type 2 (NT2) and IH you have to fall asleep on average in less than 5-10min(I can't remember the exact number). You take 4 or 5 naps depending on the results. For narcolepsy you have to enter rem during at least 2 naps. Basically, being able to fall asleep quickly after a full night's sleep every two hours isn't normal lmao.
It takes a few weeks for the results. For mine, I fell asleep in all 4 naps. I can't remember how fast but they said it met the criteria. Didn't enter rem so not enough for NT2. Although, the doc said a lot of research points to NT2 and IH being a spectrum and not really two different things. And I did have a cataplexy like attack at one point so he just says narcolepsy spectrum disorder cause it could end up being narcolepsy type 1. On paper it's just idiopathic hypersomnia. But the medications to treat it are exactly the same.
I'm currently on armodafinil and it definitely takes the edge off the sleepiness. Like instead of dozing off 3x a day at work every day, it's like once a day, every other day. I still do take long naps on the weekends or any chance I get. But my brain always feels somewhat foggy and my limbs tend to feel heavy (like a really mild sleep paralysis).

JUST THE EXCUSE I WAS LOOKING FOR
So, for me personally, a lot of the time when I draw fat characters, I'm not looking to specifically capture the specifics of fat as much as the feel of fat. Bulkier, rounder shapes in the right places that has a feeling of weight to em! A lot of that is intuition and simplification at this point, but it all works on the same frame as just any ol' person. Like take this-
For example. This is the basis for any body shape, not just the more average one that it may imply. Sure- it can be that average body shape:
But also a fat one too!
And a big part of that is knowing where fat usually tends to bunch up on the body, so lets take a look piece by piece! (Please keep in mind this is very simplified, and not completely precise in some parts)
THE FACE: Cheeks (in purple) and especially the chin (in light blue) are the places where a lot of the fat is gonna wanna gather and round out on your face! Additionally, theres a small pocket of fat beneath the cranium on the backside of your head. It's small, but it is there. I believe fat can build up elsewhere like the bridge of your nose and forehead, but generally speaking, you're gonna have a whole lot more buildup in other places first.
THE TORSO: A lot of the fat built up on the torso is gonna be sent to your tummy. More cushioning for vital organs, mostly out of the way, it just makes sense. Additionally, the lower backs fat builds up and joins with a patch of fat on your sides that forms what is typically referred to as the love handles to make that double belly look. Along with this, the immediate next target for the torso is the breasts, followed by the upper back!
THE ARMS: For this limb, a VERY notable amount of the fat present builds up on the tricep and bicep areas, lessening once you get towards the flexor and extensor areas. You can almost think of the arm as a sort of triangular shape, wide side starting from the shoulder and tapering towards the hand, which itself mostly builds up fat around the back of the hand and the fingers. The shoulders themselves don't build up too much fat unless you got a lot
THE LEGS: And finally, you can think of the legs having pretty similar curves to what you're probably already used to thinking. The front of the thighs getting a big buildup, along with the back of the calves, the other parts being flatter in turn. As far as the feet go- similarly to the hands, the top of the feet, along with the heels get most of the buildup, as fat on your soles would impede mobility. The glute, hip and crotch area will also especially build up fat, lending to the same triangular shape that you can see in the arm!
A big thing to note with fat is that it tends to taper off towards joints. Your knees, elbows, shoulders, hips, and all the other places are gonna have significantly less fat so that you remain mobile and flexible, as that's important!
Now that we have an idea of where fat builds up on the body, you might have something that looks kinda like this
Which yes, does demonstrate a solid understanding of the places fat builds up, lacks the weight you're probably trying to convey, which brings us to out next point! Fat is well... heavy! Gravity is what gives fat much of it's shape, especially as you tread towards larger and larger bodies.
This is demonstrated really well on the arms especially-
Those big ol' bits of fat'll really start to sag when left hanging, and they will squish like hell if they run into something. I like to think of these bits of fat as big ol' ovals that squash and stretch depending on if there's an obstacle in their way or not
These are the important shapes to remember when it comes to the weightiness of fat! If you take all of this into mind, you should be getting something a lot closer to that shape you've been after!
Oh, and always remember that fat bodies come in all variety of shapes and sizes! Play around with a whole lot, and seek out all the resources you can! it'll really lend to your knowledge when it comes to this kinda stuff!
And as I always recommend when it comes to learning art- look at what your favorite artists do with fat bodies. See what you really like about the fat bodies they draw and try to replicate it in your own work, I promise you it's one of the most helpful things ever.
This is like the most basic of basics when it comes to drawing fat bodies though. If there's any additional thing about fat bodies, or maybe you want clarification on something, don't be afraid to ask! If there's enough to cover, I'll make an addition to this post!

Hey adults: Why do you like being an adult? What do you like about your life?
A couple weeks ago I told the kids at my work that "Being an adult is pretty nice, actually," and they looked shocked, laughed incredulously, and told me I was the first person they'd ever heard say that
So clearly we adults need to talk about this way more often
The past few years have been hard for a lot of people, me included. Covid sucked. I lost three relatives and three pets in one year. Right after lockdown ended, I got badly injured, and ended up housebound for six months and (much more) disabled for two years, and that sucked too.
And you know what? Literally all of that was easier and better than being a teenager.
I like being an adult. I like my life. Even when it's hard, it's mine, and I am building to the best of my ability the a life that I want to live.
I talked about a lot of why being an adult is something worth looking forward to in my last post, so right now I'll simply say this:
I love actually knowing who I am now. I love that I learned and am learning what I want and need. I love that I have independence and autonomy and don't get treated like a kid. I love the fact that I'm the one who gets to decide want I want to do and what I need.
I also love that I'm learning to sew. I love that I've had pet rats, and next will have a pet cat. I love that I got top surgery. I love the way I've decorated my room. I love traveling to visit and crash and even just hang out and do work with my friends, when I can.
I love that I started reading good news every day, and that I actually have hope for the future, and that I started this blog and have been able to help give so many other people hope, too.
So, here's a call to action for my fellow adults: comment or reply or tag what you like about being an adult. What you love about your life.
Let's give some kids some reasons for hope.

The Curse Of Hope

Danny is in another universe. He had a reason, but he doesn’t remember anymore. He can only stare, horrified and disgusted, at the sickest city spirit he’s ever seen. Shivering and swaying with every step, core exposed, and ectoplasm leaking from wounds that are decades old. A ratty blanket was thrown over their shoulders, barely hiding the spirit’s pale grey skin and protruding black bones.
The spirit didn’t even sense him until he reached out to touch its wispy shoulders. The spirit flinched, clutching at the dozens of trinkets hanging from their neck and tucking in on themselves like they were expecting a blow.
“Oh, shit,” He swore, floating back a few feet, hands in the air, to show he meant no harm. “I’m sorry. I promise, I’m not here to steal from you.” The spirit shivered again and rolled a pearl necklace in between their fingers. A nervous habit. “Uh, I like that pocket watch? It’s very nice.”
That got their attention. They peeked at Danny, and he saw that more tattered cloth was covering their eyes, blending in with the stringy hair that reached the ground. Their blanket fluttered weakly, revealing hundreds of thousands of tiny marks etched into their skin. Scars, really. Scars that wrote out curse after curse onto the spirit’s very being. They burned with evil intent, and even reached inside the spirit’s body and wrapped around their core.
Occasionally, blinding specks of color raced across their body, temporarily erasing the writing, but it always returned quickly. He watched, a little detached, as one particular line rewrote itself across their rough forearm, drawing fresh ectoplasm like someone was writing it with a thin knife.
“Are you…alright?” Danny stuttered. A stupid question.
The spirit cocked its head. He couldn’t see their eyes, but he felt their burning gaze as they pondered the question.
“The pain of others becomes mine own.” They rasped. “The lights of the city dim as rotten wealth clogs mine veins. Magicks long forgotten have eaten mine skins, pulled mine cloak, and darkened mine skies. Helios has refused to grace mine doorstep, and the seasons of the Earth have revoked their kindness.”
Danny held his breath. It felt like he was the one with the exposed core, not the spirit.
The spirit shivered once more. “Tell mine soul, little lamb. How could this Forsaken City know peace, when it was long since ripped from mine hands?”
Shit, he needed Frostbite. And maybe Clockwork. Now.

Danny meets the spirit of Gotham City. The villains and rogues that have plagued the city for decades are literal curses that are taking quite the toll on Gotham, and honestly, Danny isn’t sure how much longer they can hold out. The heroes seem to be doing some help, and are probably the reason Gotham made it this far, but the poor city needs help from the Realms if they want to get better.
Luckily, Danny can provide that help.
But only if he could get Gotham to leave their city behind. Because recovery is going to take a very long time.
