Today in 1882, Thomas Edison, and his partner Edward H. Johnson created the very first string of electric lights intended for a Christmas Tree. People originally illuminated their trees with candles, which as you can guess was a dangerous practice leading to many house fires. Edison and Johnson hand-wired 80 red, white, and blue bulbs, and hung them around the Christmas tree. During this time many people mistrusted electricity, it wasn't until 1895, when President Grover Cleveland had the White House family Christmas tree illuminated by hundreds of multicolored bulbs, people started to change their minds. It is important to remember for the time being, families would have to hire a wire man which would have cost $2,000 in today's dollars. It wouldn't be until 1903 when General Electric began to sell preassembled kits of stringed Christmas lights, as a more affordable option.

It really sucks when you've spent your money on someone, brought them into your home, and made them your top priority, only to end up crying because they stab you in the back. It's like you opened up your heart and life to them, and they just walked all over it. The pain is real, and it feels like they took advantage of your kindness, leaving you with nothing but tears and a heavy heart.

Today in 1849, the first chamber music group in the United States gave its first concert in Boston, Massachusetts. The Mendelssohn Quintette Club, based in Boston, was active from 1849 to 1895 and was "one of the most active and most widely known chamber ensembles in America." Chamber music is a form of classical music, composed for a small group of instruments, intended to fit in a palace chamber or a large room, and does not usually include solo instrument performances. The Mendelssohn Qunitnette Club would tour through New England, traveling as far as Georgia, California, and Australia.

So yesterday I finally finished a book that broke my heart (the first to die at the end) and today I started another book that also will break my heart (history is all you left me)

And I love it

Adam Silvera has just such a way of writing, you really can feel that he doesn't just write to make money but to tell the characters story and therefore there's just this love and heartbreak in it

Puzzles are sort of like life because you can mess up and rebuild later, and you’re likely smarter the next time around.
