M'Lady, M'Lord
Pairing: Eddie Munson x Reader
Summary: Eddie’s smitten from the moment he sees you playing pirates with your brother.
Word Count: 5176
Eddie Masterlist
Tumblr media
The first time Eddie laid eyes on you it was basically game over for him. You were dressed as pirates with your younger brother sword fighting in the park where Mike tricked Eddie into having a Hellfire meeting purely because he had to help Nancy watch Holly. Each time they had to pause so he could take his turn playing with her or pushing her on a swing Eddie’s attention went straight to you. Once you had your brother on a fake plank, sword pointed at him looking triumphant and the next time he looked over your wooden sword was knocked out of your hands that were being held up in surrender.
Your family was new to town and after days of your brother begging you about going out instead of unpacking you agreed. Which led him to immediately ask if the two of you could play pirates when you got to the park not far from your house. You weren’t expecting there to be a group of boys playing a game at one of the picnic tables when you got there or to become so intrigued with the story the boy with curly hair was weaving that Henry actually got the upper hand on you instead of you letting him get it like you normally do.
“Come on Y/n, you weren’t even trying that time!” Your hands go up in surrender and in an apology.
“Sorry little man, just got a little distracted is all. Won’t happen again scouts honor!” And you lose yourself in the game once more, not even glancing back over at the group of boys knowing you’ll get sucked in again.
Eddie doesn’t know it’s game over for him till the second time he sees you. He was stuck cleaning up by himself after Hellfire having yet another meeting at the park because his friends liked having it outside with how nice the summers been this year. He was just leaving the table when he spotted you sitting in a fucking tree headphones on book in hand and not a care in the world. Your bandana matched your brown flowy skirt and your black cami hugged your body like a second skin. He couldn’t help himself from approaching you. Luckily you spot him approaching and rest the headphones around your neck in case he was going to try to talk to you.
“What’s a pretty girl like you doing up in a tree?” You shrug marking your place in your book and resting it on your raised knee.
“What’s a pretty boy like you doing at a park in the middle of the afternoon?” Eddie freezes not expecting you to flirt back with him so quickly. “It’s just peaceful up here. I really gotta get home though so thanks for saying something.” You add in after realizing how long you’ve been here. When you jump down Eddie near has a heart attack worrying you’ll hurt yourself and surges forward to catch you. A fact that you notice and can’t help but smile and feel warm inside at the thought of someone caring about your safety that much.
Time seems to freeze as you look up at him and your eyes meet his widened chocolate brown ones. His mouth stays slightly parted as he takes you in soft curves and all now that you’re standing in front of him. While his eyes roam up and down your body you just can’t stop staring into them wondering how you’ve never seen such pretty eyes before.
“Hi.”
“Hi, I’m Y/n.”
“Hi.” His voice is breathless and it doesn’t seem like he was paying much attention to what you said. Your giggles at the fact are what seem to wake him from the daze you put him in. “Sorry you’re just, you’re so much prettier up close.” Heat crawls up your neck and you become bashful quicker than you ever have in your life.
“Thanks.” You start walking and he’s quick to follow you swinging his bag of DnD stuff back over his shoulder.
“I saw you here the other week with your brother?”
“Yeah, I saw you too, playing that game with your friends. That was Dungeons and Dragons right?” He’s almost left speechless at how you know about his favorite pastime.
“Dungeons and Dragons, yeah. You know about it?”
“A little, I had friends who played it before we moved here but I just didn’t have the attention span for it. Most of the time I’d bring a book and watch them play.”
“Are you walking?” Eddie asks when you keep walking past the parking lot getting completely distracted from what he originally wanted to ask.
“Yeah, I’m not too far.”
“Do you want a ride?” He points over his shoulder with his thumb to his van.
“If I say yes, are you going to serial kill me?”
“Guess you’ll have to say yes to find out Princess.” He winks but also then doubts his words almost immediately because the two of you are strangers,
“Hm, alright.” You take the journey of a couple  of feet to stop in front of him. “I like to live on the edge anyway so lead the way.”
“M’lady.” Eddie bows as he opens the passenger side door and holds it open for you.
“M’lord.” You’re quick to play along, adding a curtsy before hopping in and stunning Eddie once more. He mouths ‘wow’ before shutting the door and rushing around to his side.
When he starts the van he’s so unbelievably relieved that he turned the radio off because otherwise his music would’ve been blasting. You let him know your street and he starts to back out of the parking spot. He almost stops the whole car when he spots the book you rest in your lap as you unwrap your headphones from your body and unclip your walkman. It’s silent in the van as Eddie untwists his tongue to comment on it.
“You’re reading Lord of The Rings?” He clears his throat before he speaks, only glancing at you out of the corner of his eye while he drives.
“Yeah, it’s one of my absolute favorite series. Have you read it?”
“Only a million times!” Despite his excited words it’s at this moment that Eddie knows he’s absolutely screwed. Especially with how you light up and start talking about your favorite characters and parts of the story.
The next time you see Eddie is at Family Video just a handful of days later. You brought Henry to pick out a couple movies for sibling bonding movie night, a night you created for the days your mom worked late to distract him from the fact of not seeing her. It was invented when he was younger and unsure as to why she was gone, you found him crying in her room thinking she left the two of you like his dad did, and it’s just become a norm now neither one of you would miss it for the world.
“Eddie?” You’re moving around the store looking for him when you spot Eddie stocking movies with the green vest on. He nearly drops all the tapes in his hands at the sound of your voice.
“Hey Princess! What’re you doing here?”
“Movie night.” You hold up The Muppet Movie to show the reason even though he still hasn’t looked away from his task. “You work here?”
“Sadly I do.”
“Good thing you do, otherwise who knows when we would’ve seen each other again.” He looks at you then and you look like an angel standing there in front of the window, the sunset making it seem like you’re absolutely glowing and he’s speechless for a moment. You’re in another flowy skirt, green this time with yet another matching bandana, but this time you’re in a white long sleeved shirt that flares at the end of the sleeves. You’re beautiful.
“You haven’t seen my brother around have you? He’s about ye high, looks a little bit like me, cowboy hat on.”
“Yeah, I reckon he’s over yonder in horror.” Eddie cringes at his stupid decision to do a silly cowboy impersonation but when you start laughing at it he knows he’d do it again in a heartbeat.
“Thanks!” You leave then and Eddie hurries up with stocking the shelf to rush to the counter so he can be the one to ring you out.
“Move Harrington!”  He all but shoves Steve away from the counter he was leaning on bored.
“Woah, what has you suddenly wanting to do your job Munson?”
“If you stop pouting about it we can go to the arcade tomorrow.” Your voice greets both boys behind the counter as you round the corner of aisles.
“You mean it?” Your brother rushes to your side and follows close to you up to the counter. Steve watches you get closer and then how his friend seems to get more and more jittery with each step you take. He holds back the chuckle that wants to escape as he takes it in and instead just shakes his head choosing to lean against the other counter arms crossed over his chest.
“Course I do. I haven’t been able to get the Burgertime high score yet.” You place the movies on the counter before turning your attention and soft smile over to Eddie. “Hello again.”
“Hi. You find everything okay?”
“Easy peasy lemon squeezy.” You beam at him and even Steve is stunned by it for a second.
“So The Muppets and The Thing huh? That’s an interesting combo.”
“What can I say? We have a wide berth of interests.” You shrug and then motion to your brother. “He was stuck between Thing and Poltergeist but last time we watched it he had to sleep either in my room or with all the lights on for a week.”
“You can’t just tell people that!”
“It’s alright cowboy, I’ll keep your secret.” Eddie tips an imaginary hat to him while you dig around your saggy brown tote bag for your wallet.
“Oh, Eddie this is my brother Henry, Hens this is my new friend Eddie.”
“Howdy partner.” Eddie's mock cowboy voice comes out again and it earns him another wonderful laugh from you, a beaming smile from Henry, and a ‘I can’t believe you just did that’ laugh from Steve. He goes pink at hearing Steve’s laugh having forgotten he was there while your eyes dart over to the other boy behind the counter.
“Oh hello.” You greet him a shy smile on your face and a small wave after handing Eddie the cash for the movies.
“Steve Harrington.” He holds his hand out for you to shake which you do once getting your change back.
“Y/n Y/l/n.”
“That’s a pretty name.” Steve throws on his best flirty smile and Eddie resists the urge to roll his eyes.
“Thanks.” Eddie wants to stick his tongue out at his friend at how uninterested you seem in him. “Oh Eddie, do you have a pen I could use?” He nods and hands you one of the loose ones behind the counter that’s missing a cap. You grab his wrist before he can pull it away and shove his long sleeve up writing your number along the inside of his arm. “Should’ve done this the other day but now we don’t have to just happen upon each other.”
“Thanks Princess, I’ll be sure to use it.”
“You better.” You look up at him and wink before stepping back. “Alright Hens, let's go get some snacks.” You shove the VHS tapes into your bag and push on the back of his shoulders to get him to lead the way out of the store.
“What the hell just happened?” Steve asks once you’re gone and turns to his friend who’s busy smiling at the writing on his arm.
“That my dear friend was my turn getting the girl.” He beams as he proudly shows off that you added a heart after your number.
Eddie doesn’t call you the days after giving him your number. And he wasn’t working the day you went to return the movies so you were beginning to think maybe you came off too strong or you read the vibes wrong. You were trying not to let it get to you but it was hard because you at least wanted to have Eddie as a friend.
“Woah, hey there Princess.” His voice graces your ears and his warm hands consume your shoulders as he stops you where you are. You look up from where you were digging around in your bag trying to find your keys and find that your nose is probably an inch away from his chest. “You should probably watch where you’re going before you trip or walk into something.” You’re quick to figure out that you were about to walk into him on your way out of  the shop.
“Sorry Eddie, got lost in thought. How’re you?”
“Good, good. Hey I’ve been meaning to call ya.” He brings his hand up to rub the back of his neck and you fight with yourself to not look when his shirt rides up revealing the smallest sliver of tummy.
“Oh?” You genuinely don’t know what to say with how genuine he sounds.
“My friends and I do this movie night thing once a week, was wonderin if maybe you wanted to come?” You open your mouth to respond but he keeps talking. “I was gonna grow some balls and finally call you after I picked up the movie since it’s tonight. I just haven’t called you yet because everytime I go to pick up the phone I chicken out. You’re just so pretty and you’re really cool and you love Lord of The Rings which is like the biggest deal to me.” Your giggles interrupt Eddie and he freezes eyes wide as he stares at you.
“I’d love to come to movie night with you and your friends.” You reach out to hold onto his arm to help get him to stop talking.
“Really?”
“Really. What’s the movie?” You retract your hand and go back to digging to the bottom of your bag and Eddie immediately misses your touch.
“The Fly, we went to see it when it was in theaters but the kids weren’t able to come with us and finally convinced Steve to watch it again.”
“That has Jeff Goldblum in it right?”
“Yeah, I’m pretty sure at least.”
“Oh I’m definitely in then!” Your fingers hook through your key ring and pull them out a triumphant smile on your face. “When and where?”
“I’ll pick you up around seven?”
“Sounds great!” You start to move around him and he turns to get the door for you.
“M’lady.”
“M’lord.” You beam at him as you leave the store and Eddie swears his world gets dimmer when you turn away from him.
Eddie shows up at your door at exactly seven o'clock on the dot. He hesitates for a minute before knocking on the door nervous for if he might meet your parents or not. When he does he can hear a muffled yell before someone runs to the door. Henry’s the one who opens it.
“Y/n’s in the kitchen.” Is all he says before leaving the door open and disappearing into the living room.
Eddie stays in the doorway for a minute unsure if he should just walk into your home before deciding to go in if only to shut the door. Ultimately he decides to find you so he doesn’t feel awkward in the entranceway. He finds you washing dishes in a kitchen that smells like freshly baked cookies.
“Hi Eddie.” You greet him as you place the big plastic bowl you were washing on the drying rack and grabbing the dish towel on the counter to dry your hands.
“Hey Princess, not to rush you or anything but you ready to go?”
“Yeah, I just gotta say bye to Henry first. Can you hold this for me real quick?” You hand him your tote on your way into the living room where you know your shoes are.
“What are you packing in here Sweetheart? It’s way heavier than I thought it’d be?” He could just peek in and see but he doesn't want to be rude or invade your privacy.
“Oh! I baked cookies so I hope all your friends like chocolate chip.” You fall onto the couch next to Henry, who’s snacking on some of said cookies and watching Transformers, to pull your sneakers on.
“You really didn’t have to do that. Now they’ll never want you to leave.”
“That’s the point.” You smile at him standing up and taking your bag back before turning to Henry. “Are you sure you’re good if I leave?” You lean down to speak softly to him, voice low enough that Eddie barely hears it. As much as you want to go tonight if he were to say he wanted to hang with you, you’d stay.
“Yeah.”
“Okay. Be good, if you need anything call me. Eddie, can you write down the number for whatever house we’ll be at?”
“Yeah, course.” He immediately searches for paper and a pen.
“Mom will probably be asleep for the rest of the night so I need you to be responsible, go to bed at a decent time, don’t stay up till I get home because I don’t know when that’ll be.” It’s something he often did when you went out with friends worrying about if you would come back.
“Number’s right here.” Eddie places the piece of paper he found on the coffee table in front of Henry.
“Alright, bye Henners, love you.” You duck down to hug him and place a kiss on his head.
“Love you too.”
“See ya cowboy.” Eddie says waving as he follows you out of the room and the house. Once outside he beats you to the van holding your door open for you.
“So you two seem to have a good relationship.” Eddie says about halfway to Steve’s house about you and your brother.
“Yeah.” You’re silent for a beat before turning to look at Eddie. “Sorry if he seems a little standoffish towards you, he has issues getting close to people when he doesn’t know if they’ll stick around.”
“It’s fine, really. I’m not always the quickest to accept people into my life either.”
“Hmm I’d say you were with how quick you brought me into it.” You’re teasing but you can sense the truth in his words and he gives off the vibe of someone who just has one small group of people he’s close with.
“Ah you were a special case though. A pretty girl who plays pirates and reads Lord of The Rings? I had to scoop you up before anyone else could.”
“I play cowboys and cops and robbers too.” You speak just as Eddie parks and he’s able to turn his whole body to face you.
“Careful Princess before you steal even more of my heart.”
“Just wait till you hear about my ren faire costumes.” You wink before opening your door. “Now c’mon so you can introduce me to everyone.” Eddie’s frozen there for a couple seconds, mouth partly open. Everytime he thinks you can’t possibly get any better you go and prove him wrong. He can just imagine you dressed up as an elf or an actual princess.
Once he breaks out of it he’s quick to follow you out of the van and lead you to Steve’s front door. He goes straight in grabbing your hand as he does so to steer you through the big house to the basement where they always have movie nights. The sound of his friends' voices greet the two of you as soon as he opens the basement door.
“Eddie’s here!” Robin announces as she peers up the stairs in passing. “And it looks like he brought someone.” There’s a chorus of ‘ooo’s and Eddie rolls his eyes, shaking the urge to sweep you away and keep you to himself.
“Did Eddie finally get a girlfriend?” He can barely hear El’s quiet question but it makes him go red all the same wondering if you heard it too.
“Hey guys, this is Y/n.” He introduces you once you’re both at the bottom of the stairs motioning to you with the hand that isn’t holding onto your own.
“Hello.” You wave with your free hand and hold onto Eddie’s a little tighter with your other at seeing all the eyes on you.
“Y/n this is Robin, Dustin, Mike, Lucas, Will, El, Max, and you’ve met Steve before.” He leans down to whisper in your ear then. “Careful around the kids they might imprint on you like baby ducks the way they did Steve and I.” You smile and shove him away at the joke taking your hand back.
“I brought cookies. Think of it as a peace offering of sorts.” You reach into your tote and pull out a big tupperware that Eddie can’t help but wonder how it fit inside.
“I’ll take that.” Robin comes over and takes it out of your hand before grabbing your wrist to pull you over to the couch. “Come join the party we were just about to start the movie.” You sit next to Robin at the end of the couch. As soon as she opens the container Dustin’s reaching up and over laps to get some from his spot on the floor next to Steve who’s at Robin's feet. He groans in delight as soon as he takes a bite and you can’t stop the smile from forming on your face.
“These are the best cookies I’ve ever had!” Eddie whistles as he takes his seat on the floor beneath you.
“That’s really saying something with how good your moms cooking and baking is.” He reaches up and grabs his own before Mike steals the container to take over to the couch he’s sharing with Lucas and the girls. “Oh my God.” Eddie says with his mouth full throwing his head back as the taste of what seems to be the perfect cookie completely envelopes his mouth.
“Is that a good oh my god?” You ask in a timid soft voice leaning over so your head was positioned right above where Eddie threw his on the couch between your legs.
“Princess, this is the best thing I think I’ve ever eaten.” You visibly light up at his praise. A wide smile overtakes your face and your eyes shine and it makes Eddie do the same. There’s a chorus of agreement to Eddie’s words but the two of you are so lost in eachothers eyes that you don’t pay them any attention.
“Eddie, you better bring your girlfriend around all the time if she’s gonna be bringing more of this stuff.” Lucas says reaching into the container as Steve starts the movie.
“Shut up and stop hogging them, pass em over.” Mike hands them to Eddie while he’s up to turn the lights off and neither of you correct Lucas.
It’s a little after eleven when Eddie pulls into your driveway. After the movie ended Robin immediately started to ask you questions about yourself, Max joining soon after making Steve move so she can take his spot. You happily answered, asking questions right back almost giddy with the thought of making friends so soon after moving here.
Eddie had chimed in here and there like when Mike asked when the two of you met. “You assholes abandoned me after the last Hellfire meeting and I found her in a tree.” Or when you answered a question about your music taste, saying you liked Blondie and the Bee Gees. “What about Motorhead or Judas Priest?” And when you shrugged and told him you’d never heard of them he mocked injury, falling over and pulling the imaginary sword from his heart.
“That was fun.” You say to Eddie as you round his van to head to your front door. “I like your friends.”
“They liked you too. I don’t think I’ve ever seen El get so comfortable around someone so fast.” She had come over to join the group around you soon after the conversations started and while she didn’t say much Eddie could tell she was taking to you. “Stick around and they’ll be your friends in no time.” You smile at the thought of having a group to hang out with again.
When you open the door the soft sound of the tv still on drifts to your ears and you let out a small sigh before moving silently and quickly into the living room. You leave your keys in the door which Eddie is quick to take out before shutting it and following your path. He finds you knelt next to the couch and brushing some of Henry’s hair off of his forehead.
“You gonna wake him up?”
“I should, let him know I’m home and get him to bed. But he looks so peaceful that I don’t want to.” You whisper back not taking your eyes off of your brother that you’ve basically raised yourself.
“Want me to carry him while you lead the way to his room?” You didn’t hear Eddie get closer so when he crouches next to you it makes you jump a little.
“You’d do that?”
“Course.” He ignores how shocked your wide eyes reveal you to be and instead takes your hand to help you up before scooping Henry up. “Lead the way.”
Eddie’s careful not to move the boy in his arms too much as he follows you up the steps and then down the hallway. You leave his door open and move his blankets out of the way to make room for Eddie to place him down. Once he does, you cover him and place a soft small kiss on his forehead before leading the way out of the room, closing the door once you’re both in the hallway.
“Do you want a drink or something before you go?”
“I could use a smoke, you want one? If not, I can just wait till I get home.” He follows you back down the stairs as he speaks.
“I don’t smoke but I don’t mind hanging out with you while you do it. We could go sit on the swing on the back porch?”
“Sounds perfect.” You lead the way through the house and Eddie holds the back door open for you. “M’lady.”
“M’lord.” There’s a comfortable silence between the two of you as you sit slightly moving the porch swing back and forth with your feet while Eddie pulls out a cigarette and lights it up. “My dad died when I was young.” You say suddenly after another beat of silence.
“Oh, I’m so-”
“You don’t have to be sorry or anything. It happened so long ago and I’ve had a long time to grieve so it doesn’t really hurt to think or talk about anymore.”
“Okay.” It’s all Eddie can think to say sensing you had more words coming his way.
“Mom started working more after he died but not too much so she could still y'know be a mom. And then she met this guy, Doug, and she became pregnant with Henry. They didn’t get married or anything but he took care of us. Mom was able to stop working so much and when Henry was born she was able to take time off even. But then one day when Henry was four, probably closer to being five, Doug just up and left. Just completely disappeared.” Eddie takes another drag of the cig and places a hand on your knee as you take in a shaky breath.
“It absolutely broke mom but Henry? He didn’t even know what was happening, he’d ask me when dad would be home and why mom was crying all the time. We had to move out of the house and into a small apartment and mom had to work all the time, constantly pulling doubles to make sure we’d have rent and food money. Henry hasn’t been the same since he figured out his dad wasn’t coming back, so he has a hard time bringing people into his life and worrying that one day me or mom are going to do the same thing. That's why he tried to stay up till I got home tonight, to make sure I was actually coming back.”
“You don’t have to tell me all this darlin’.”
“No, I do, because I like you Eddie. And I think you like me.”
“I do, like so much.” You smile and let a small laugh leave your mouth at his eagerness to say the words.
“So if we’re gonna do this I need you to know I’ve got baggage but also that Henry is my whole world. When mom started working all the time I slipped into that role the best I could for him and I’m still in it. So I can’t always go out and do things because I spend most of my free time watching him.”
“That’s fine.” Eddie stomps out his cig and grabs your hand. “I’ll hang out here or we can take him to the movies or I don’t know whatever he’d wanna do. He seems like a fun kid and I’d love to get to know him.” Your eyes tear up at that and you launch yourself into his chest holding him in a tight hug. No one’s ever been so kind and understanding about how much you want to take care of your brother before. “Besides everyones got baggage, my dads been in and out of jail my whole life and I live with my uncle in a small trailer. The whole rest of the crew has their own thing too so don’t feel like anyone would judge you or anything alright?”
”Okay.”
“So, be my girlfriend? Because I’ve been dying to ask from the moment I found you in that tree.” He doesn’t say how he decided you were probably his soulmate when he found out you were reading Lord of The Rings.
“I’d love to. I’ve been dying for you to ask since you did that awful cowboy impression in Family Video.” You don’t say how you can see yourself falling for him hard and fast.
“Then it’s settled. What do you say to pizza and a movie? I’ll bring the pizza, you and Henry pick the movie.”
“I’d say it’s a date.”
“Tomorrow night? I’ll come over after my shift at Family Video?”
“Sounds perfect.”
This time when you’re holding the door open for him to leave you bow holding your arm out to show him the way.
“M’lord.” Eddie smiles at how you beat him to it and grabs your hand landing a kiss on the back of it before he speaks himself.
“M’lady.”

Dreamless sleep
Tumblr media
I mentioned in a reblog a few days ago that I sometimes write little oneshots about Henry to comfort myself when shit situations happen. Well I left work today and my car wouldn't start and... I've been struggling with remembering something really difficult that happened to me and I needed a comfort fic. This is that.... I don't normally post them but I wanted to share this one.
Warnings: Mentions of SA possible trigger.
summary: waking up from a nightmare and having a rough day. Henry is always there to help.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
I watched the door shake.  The man on the other side determined to break in.  If he got through, he was going to hurt me again. Not that he would ever admit it. My attacker had spent just moments before trying to convince me I had asked for it. Like what he did to me was nothing more than him fulfilling my desires. Bile rose in the back of my throat from the thought.
“Go away, Luke! I told you I won’t say anything to anyone! Just leave me alone!” But he didn’t stop. I watched the door knob turn as I looked around my childhood bedroom searching for something to barricade the door. Trying to find anything to keep him out. My strength would not hold much longer. One more shove and he would be inside. I wouldn’t be able to escape him. Just like the last time. As I’m reaching for a chair to press against the door, I stumble. I fall to the floor and the door swings open…
I woke with a start shooting straight up gasping for breath. My heart was racing and I let out a whimper as my eyes adjusted to the darkness. I flinched as I felt a gentle hand touch my hip.
“Darling it’s me, it’s okay.” Henry’s soothing voice broke through my panic. It was a dream. Only, a dream. I swallowed hard and looked out the window. It was storming, the sky was still gray, I looked over at the clock 6:25 my alarm was about to go off,
“Sorry, go back to sleep baby, it was just a bad dream. I’m okay.” I assured him. Henry sat up. He wrapped his arms around me from behind and placed a soft kiss on my head.
“You’re sure? He asked, “Do you want to talk about it?” I shook my head. I hadn’t told him about what happened to me. And as far as I was concerned he didn’t need to know. It was in the past. I was fine. It was rare that I had these dreams.
“No bear, It was silly, just go back to sleep, I need to get up and get ready,” I told him. He took in a deep breath. He still held me close for a moment before hesitantly letting go of my waist.
“Alright, love,” When I got out of bed I turned and kissed him softly. He looked so tired. He’d gotten back so late from set. I hate that I’d woken him up.
“I’ll see you later,” I smiled. He sat up giving me another kiss.
“Have a good day baby,” He said. I slipped out of my bedroom and took a quick shower. I quickly got dressed for the office and left. I picked up a coffee on the way to work. I splashed some on my shirt leaving a small stain. It wasn’t completely obvious but I knew it was there. This would happen today I hate Mondays. Things were in full swing, actually, busy. When I got there. I sat down and tried to focus on my work. But I couldn’t get anything done. All I could think about was that dream.
Lunch rolled around and I realized I’d left it at home. I didn’t want to bother Henry. He hadn’t had a day to himself in a while. So I was just going to pick something up. I ran to the little convenience store down the road and got a little snack. It was much but it would hold me over until the end of the day.
The rest of the day was so busy. So many emails and the work just kept piling up. It was non-stop. I was so ready to get back to my place and spend the evening with Henry. I walked out to my car and put the key in the ignition and… it didn’t start. I tried it again… nothing. How could this happen? It ran perfectly fine on lunch. God, I was just tired and hungry and I want to get home! I’ve spent the whole day reminded of this terrible thing I’d gone through, and now this? Today sucked! I sighed and pulled out my phone. I was going to have to call Henry. I tapped his name and the phone rang. After the second ring, he picked up.
“Hey, babe, you on you’re way back?” He asked. I sighed again.
“No,” I said flatly. “My car won’t start I don’t know what’s wrong, the engine won’t even try to turn over.” I rambled. I could hear myself starting to hyperventilate.
“Slow down, breathe. I’ll be right there.” He promised. In 10 minutes he was pulling up next to my car. We tried to jump it but that did nothing. I sighed and slammed the door. “Whoa, hey, it’s gonna be alright we’ll get it fixed, love,” Henry said grabbing my shoulders gently and making me face him. I felt my lip start to wobble. I didn’t want him to see me cry. In all honesty, we hadn’t been together that long. He hadn’t seen me break down and I wasn’t ready for him to. What if I was too much? What if he didn’t want me anymore?
“I-i’m sorry, today has just been… stressful. I was looking forward to getting home and spending time with you.” I said.
“And you’re going to, we’ll leave the car here I’ll have it looked at in the morning. Let's get back and relax my love.” Henry drove us home. I shuffled inside, quickly changing into comfy clothes. After spending a while trying to fix the car it had gotten a bit late so we decided to order in. Henry ordered dinner while I got cozy on the couch. We ate our Chinese takeout and binged a new Netflix series. My mind wandered not fully paying attention. Getting lost in the dream from this morning. I was staring blankly at a spot on the wall, I didn’t hear Henry say my name. He shook my shoulder and I yelped. His brow raised and his eyes filled with concern, and something that almost looked like hurt.
“What’s going on with you today love?” He asked. I snapped.
“What do you mean? Nothings going on everythings fine!” I said. He sat back looking at me from a sideways glance.
“You’ve been on edge all day,” He stated.
“You haven’t even been with me all day,” I rolled my eyes.
“Is something bothering you?” He asked. I groaned.
“Fucking hell, would you just drop it Henry? I told you, I’m fine!” I shouted. Henry ran a hand through his hair and groaned in frustration.
“I’m just trying to help,” He sighed.
“Yeah, well I didn’t ask, I’m not some helpless damsel you need to save!” I argued.
“I never said that!” he groaned. “But you’ve been stressed since you woke up this Morning.” He stated.
“So?” I deflected, clearly agitated.
So… who’s Luke?” He asked his voice calm. My stomach dropped. How did he know that name?
“I don’t know what your talking about…” I said shifting my eyes to the floor.
“Alayna, when you were having your nightmare, you… said his name, asking him to stop. Who is he?” He asked again. I swallowed hard. I kept my eyes on the floor hidingn the tears that had started to well up.
“No one, must’ve just been a name my brain came up with.” I lied.
“Come on,” he pleaded. “I know you don’t think I’m that stupid.” He said. I looked up at him, eyes meeting his. He was hurt. Hurt that I was shutting him out.
“I don’t think you’re stupid at all, I just… don’t want you to think I … to think less of me.” I sniffled. Henry brushed my hair out of my face and brushed his thumb across my cheek.
“Talk to me, I want to understand.” He said. “Whatever is, I just want to help you,” he stated. I nodded.
“He… is…was a friend of my brothers.” I started. “They were friends since they were kids, I new him since I was a baby.” I explained. Henry nodded. Keeping his hand on my back silently supporting me. I went on. “I thought I could trust him. I was so naive. He always seemed like a good guy. He came to town to celebrate my brothers birthday. And they came back drunk. He woke me up. Because he wanted to say hi. I got up to talk with them and when we went back to bed he… got into my bed. I thought he was joking at first. I thought he was gonna leave.” I looked at Henry. His face was calm, but I knew that he knew what I was going to say. I didn’t miss the anger in his eyes. But he stayed quiet. Letting me get it all out. “He was like a brother to me. I-I don’t know how he could touch me like that. But… I couldn’t do anything. It was wrong, it was so wrong but I was like frozen with fear or shock I don’t know. I know that I told him no. Once. something he wanted to do … I finally was able to find my voice but. It didn’t matter. The next morning he acted like nothing happened. I never said anything. I never pressed charges…nothing. It was years ago. In my dream I confronted him. He told me I couldn’t prove it. He wouldn’t own up to it. I yelled at him. And he tried to convince me I wanted it.. And he…he tried to come after me again.” I cried. Henry quickly wrapped me up in his arms pulling me into him. “That’s when I woke up.” I said.  I cried against Henry’s shoulder while he held me. He gently cooed in my ear as if consoling a baby. But it helped. It was the comfort I needed. The shoulder to cry on I never really had. He was quiet for a while. Letting me have this moment and then.
“You know, none of that, is your fault.” He said. His voice soft.
“But I.. let him.” I said. His jaw ticked. Trying to remain calm for me.
“No, he may not have been violent or mean or angry. But he still forced you. He was bigger than you. You had no choice. But to let him do what he wanted. I can’t imagine the pain you’ve felt carrying this for so long. But I won’t let you do it alone anymore.” He said.
“You don’t have to,” I sniffed.
“The bastard is lucky he’s still breathing. He may not live anywhere near you but if he ever comes within a mile of you he’s a dead man.” He growled.
“I’m sorry, about…” I started staring at the ground.
“Look at me,” He cupped my face pulling my eyes back to his. “ I don’t care about some little argument. Or a stressful evening. I care about your wellbeing, your safety, and your peace of mind. There may not be much we can do about what happened. But I can help you feel safer, I can help you feel protected. That’s what matters. Let me care for you. Don’t be too proud to let me help you.” he pleaded.  I nodded. I was exhausted. Today had been so hard. I didn’t have the energy to be guarded anymore.
“Okay,” I said.
“You need rest love, you look exhausted.” He said softly. I nodded laying my head against his shoulder. Henry carried me to bed and I immediately curled myself around him. He smiled softly.
“As long as I breathe. He will never, get to you,” He said softly. I nodded my breathing slowly as I listened to his heart beat. Henry softly stroked my hair and I felt my eyes lids get heavy.
“Get some sleep darling, I’ll be right here,” he promised. My eyes closed and everything faded to black. And for the first time in a long time. I had a dreamless sleep. I was safe. Now. Truly safe. I didn’t have to fight this alone.
In love | Chris Evans x y/n
if you’d like you can reblog my original work, but please don’t post it without credit. if you take inspiration from my ideas please tag me, I’d like to see how someone else would write it
word count: 0.6k
warnings: Chris is literally the biggest simp ever it’s gross
summary: Chris always loves to gush about his wife any chance he gets
“So, Mr. Evans I heard you got married recently,” the interviewer said and Chris blushed just thinking about you. He chuckled and said “I did, I did. Best decision of my life, I wish I could do it all over again”
He looked over subtly, watching as you posed for pictures on the red carpet. He was so damn lucky. “You kept a secret for quite some time I heard, you announced your relationship by posting a picture from your wedding day, correct?” The interviewer asked and Chris couldn’t help the smile and blush on his face.
“Yup. My favorite picture I’ll ever have, our first kiss as a married couple. We’ve been together 5 years and got married on your 5 years anniversary” he said and the interviewer nodded. She laughed a little and said “that’s beautiful, when did you propose?”
“New years. Told her I wanted to spend every new years with her and then got down on one knee. 2nd scariest day of my life, I was so scared she’d run away the day we got married. You know me, I’m an old man now and she could do so much better” he said and chuckled.
The interviewer scoffed and said “I’m sure there’s many people out there who’d disagree with that. You two seem perfect for each other, what’s your married life been like?”
“Nothing shy of perfection. I get to wake up next to the most perfect woman in the world and I get to love her every single day. The best part is that she loves me too. I wouldn’t trade her for the world” Chris said, looking over at you. You looked so damn beautiful, the sun shining on you and your beautiful eyes popping from the color of your dress.
“I’m the luckiest man alive to tell you the truth,” Chris said and licked his lips, his heart fluttering just remembering how amazing his life has been with you in it. The interviewer chuckled and said “must’ve been hard keeping this a secret for so long. You’re blushing so hard you match the carpet,”
He looked down nervously, laughing. He sighed and said “Any man would be if he got the chance to love her and be loved by her. I’ve wanted to scream it from the rooftops since the moment I laid eyes on her” he said and you suddenly walked over, hugging him from behind.
His eyes widened and he turned around, smiling wider. “Hey, lover. You look stunning tonight, babe, you have no idea,” he said, kissing you softly. You giggled and nugged him. “Finish your interview, Chris” you said and he shook his head.
“You two are just made for each other it seems. He’s been practically buzzing with joy since I mentioned you,” the interviewer told you and you rolled your eyes, blushing slightly. You sighed and said “gosh, he’s so annoying, isn’t he? I don’t know how I tolerate him sometimes,”
You giggled, looking up at him. He shook his head and said “yea, yea, yea. I wouldn’t trade you for the damn universe and yet you’d probably trade me in a New York minute” “oh that is so not true!” You said and slapped his chest playfully, all three of you laughing.
You smiled and kissed his cheek, then realizing that you were being called for your own interviews. “I’ll meet up with you when I’m done, try not to miss me too much” you said and caressing his hand for a moment before you left.
“Alright, well let’s talk about the new movie you two are in together…”
The Sister Halstead (Part 13)
Tumblr media
Hank Voight x Reader
Masterlist
“You sure?” Henry asked me as we were getting ready for bed that night. I was already on my laptop looking at baby clothes.
“This just feels like the right time. Plus when am I ever going to have everyone together like this?” I mused.
He joined me in bed, maneuvering me around so he could see my screen.
“Jay and your dad are going to kill me.” He stated.
“You can take them.” I laughed as I kissed his cheek.
We stayed up most of the night brainstorming the perfect reveal and I was so excited to share my little bundle of joy with my family. I woke up Henry the next morning with excited giggles, placing kisses all along his face and neck.
“Wake up!” I whined.
He opened a singular eye mockingly before closing it again and pulling me into his chest.
“I love you.” He whispered.
“I love you more than anything.”
“More than our little love bug?” He joked, hand coming to stroke our babies home.
“Considering you gave me them, yes.” I smiled, placing a soft kiss to his jaw.
I caught the bottom of his jaw, pulling him into a sweet kiss. Henry’s hand made his way to my thigh to throw it over his hip. Obviously I had no choice but to ground my pelvis on his.
“Horny this early in the morning?” He joked.
“I have the hottest baby daddy, what am I supposed to do?” I sighed, pushing his boxers down and sliding his tip between my folds.
“Say please.”
“Please.” He moaned, bucking into my hand.
“Good boy.” I moaned, sliding down his length.
We moved at a languid pace, kisses and moans filling the room.
“Right there.” I cried. The feeling of him hitting my cervix was not something I would ever get used to.
“Fuck baby.” He whined, slamming my hips back onto his length.
“Please!” I cried. Now I was the one whining for a release. He took mercy on me and moved his thumb to caress my clit.
In a matter of moments, I was falling over the edge and collapsing on Henry’s chest. He continued to chase his high and thrust into my sopping heat before letting out a guttural moan and filling me up.
“God damn it I love doing that.” He admitted.
“I know, that’s how I got pregnant.” I laughed, falling to the side and laying my head on his chest.
After what felt like hours of laying together, it was time to get this plan in action. As I was getting ready for some errands, Hank sat on a stool, talking to my little bump.
“Today’s the day bub, we’re going to tell your grandparents and your uncles about you.” He murmured, shoving his face into my stomach.
“I wish we could tell your brother. I hope he’s up there with you in heaven taking care of you until mama and I get to meet you.” He confessed.
I felt myself tearing up as I dropped my curler and ran my fingers through his hair.
“I’m sure Justin is watching over our baby. How about you tell Erin next if you want to?” I proposed.
He smiled sadly up at me before returning to his secret conversation.
“I hope it’s a girl.” I mused.
“Me too.”
The afternoon rolled around with us enjoying a beautiful backyard picnic. We had a white tent with the most aesthetic array of every food I could think of. I had 4 little boxes hidden to the side for the big reveal.
“Do you guys really have to go back?” I pouted to my parents.
Having them here for the long weekend made me realize how much I missed being around them all the time. Especially with the baby coming, I wanted them to stay in Chicago.
“We’ll be back all the time okay? Your dad just bought another apartment down the block from yours, so I’m sure we’ll be here more often.” My mom reassured me.
“Speaking of apartments, here are your keys boys.” My dad smiled, handing off keychains to Will and Jay.
“We can’t thank you enough Mr. Lahey.” Will said, expressing his gratitude.
“It is not a problem and please call me Charles. You two are family now and I feel better that Charlie isn’t living alone.” Dad explained.
“Hardly alone when Hank’s always there.” Jay mumbled, taking a drink from his glass.
“Heard that.” Henry replied.
“Nonetheless, thank you, Charles.” Jay smiled, giving my dad a firm handshake.
After indulging in way too much desert, it was time for the main event.
“I have a surprise.” I announced excitingly, moving to grab the little boxes with everyone names on them.
“You guys have to open it at the same time okay?” I instructed.
With a collective nod, everyone took a hold of the ribbon securing the box.
“On three! One, two.. three!” I yelled.
They all yanked their ribbons free and reached into the box for their gift. My mom opened her box to a onesie saying “grandmas favorite”, my dad got a coffee mug saying “promoted to grandpa”, Jay got a bottle of scotch that says “pairs well with becoming an uncle” and Will got a candle that says “smells like you’re gonna be an uncle”.
At first, no one reacted. They all just stared at their gift in silence. My mom was the first to lift her head with tears in her eyes.
“A grandma?” She cried, clutching the onesie to her chest. My dad was quick to follow her with a shocked expression.
“You’re pregnant?” He gasped.
I nodded excitedly as tears came down my face.
“Oh baby!” Will shouted, smelling his candle before reaching over for a hug.
My mom joined us in the hug as my dad and Jay looked at each other before looking at Henry.
“Say something.” I laughed, staring at the men in shock.
“Congratulations Honey.” My dad smiled, hugging me as well.
Jay continued to sit there with a dumbfounded look on his face.
“You got my sister pregnant?” He asked, flabbergasted. Before anyone could really gauge a reaction, he got up and punched Henry in the face. Again.
“Seriously Jay? This is the second time. I’m still your boss.” He groaned. My dad helped him off the ground with a laugh.
“No more hitting, I need my grandchild to grow up with a father in one piece.” My dad joked.
Jay finally came over and brought me into a hug.
“I’ll kill him if he ever hurts you.” He whispered, holding onto my tightly.
“Thank you.” I cried, soaking his shirt.
I was finally able to make my way back to Henry and inspect his face.
“He was holding back. The first one was worse.” I joked.
“I bought an ice pack for a reason.” He admitted, pulling out a cold one from the cooler.
“I’m so excited to be having a baby with you.” I cooed at him.
“I’m excited but terrified. I can’t believe I get to be a dad again.” He admitted.
That made my mom sob and pulled him into a hug.
“Welcome to the family Henry.”
Hunter's daughter doing the loli dance trend
She became an internet sensation in a night and Hunter is gonna go hunting down the predators
He's making sure if his daughter becomes a child star, she'll have the best protection
A/N: Sorry, this took so long to answer. College is pilling up on me again. Also, I made Hunter's daughter a teen (15 going on 16) in this because I don't know how to write children who are really young.
"You did what?!" Hunter shrieks, waking you up.
"Hunter, what are you fussing about now?" You ask, getting off the couch.
"Come see what your daughter has danced to on that clock app!" Hunter yells, making their preteen daughter, Melody go into the kitchen.
You look at Lauren dancing and are slightly impressed she can dance so well.
"She got my moves," You say, smirking until you see Hunter's face."But, of course, the lyrics of the song are very inappropriate."
"Mom! That's so unfair! You've danced to much more inappropriate songs when you were on the majorette team when you were my age," Lauren whines, making you go still.
"Oh...true," You mumble, looking away from your eldest daughter.
"Don't use your mother's past against her. You're not going to dance to songs with lyrics like this on the internet for who knows what to save and view. In fact, I'm going to Henry to completely wipe this from the internet," Hunter says, storming out of the house.
You and Lauren look at each other and then laugh.
"How about I cut you a deal? You can still dance, but you join my old majorette team?" You offer, passing your daughter her phone.
"Deal!" Lauren exclaims, hugging you. "I wonder how long it's going to take for Dad to realize that the video of me doing the loli dance trend was in my drafts?"
"Oh, probably a while. Despite your father's job, he's not very smart. I remember when we were dating, I asked Hunter to get me a B-cup bra. He brought me a literal bra with bees on it. I laughed so hard that water spurt out of my nose. The best part was that the bra was an A-cup!" You laugh, making Lauren burst into laughter. "Oh, and then there was the time at our high school graduation, Hunter nearly fell off the front of the stage!"
You and your eldest daughter crack up and eventually stop.
"Mommy, what are we going to do for food?" Melody asks, tugging on your sleeve.
"Hmmm...how about GIRL DINNER!" You scream, making all of your daughters shriek with delight.
You give them your phone and they order their favorite dishes from their favorite restaurants. You pay for the order with Hunter's debit card and go into your room for face masks and salon care.
"Ugh! What does Elliot want now?" Lauren groans, flopping onto the bed. "Oh, Dad wants to know why there were four transactions on his debit card."
You had almost forgotten Henry has children. Elliot VanHelding, the eldest of Henry's children, goes to the same school as Lauren, and Delilah. Not only that, but he seems to fancy Lauren, which makes you worried.
"Just tell him we decided to take a girl's day off," You respond, sipping a strawberry lemonade margarita from the fridge.
"Ok, mom!" Lauren says, high-fiving you.
Hunter receives the text message and smiles a little.
"So, is the video deleted?" Hunter asks Elliot, crouching next to him as his friend's son does his magic.
"Yep! Completely erased from her drafts!" Elliot says, turning around to face Hunter.
"Drafts? So it was never published?"
"Nope."
"I've got to get back to my house."
By the time Hunter had gotten back, you, Lauren, Delilah, and Melody had locked every door, entrance, and window.
"Honey, this isn't funny! Open the door!" Hunter yells, pounding on the door.
"Sorry, babe! It's girl's night now!" You exclaim, shutting the curtains.
Hunter sees you wearing a fake scarf with cheap star-shaped sunglasses and hides a smile. Hunter grabs a pillow and blanket from the trunk and makes a bed for himself in the backseat of his car. He takes in the smell of the blanket and takes comfort in knowing that it smells like your perfume from when you went to the beach with Hunter for the summer before your senior year in college. His mind fills with summer memories, and they carry him to sleep.
Ranva remembered dreaming of the girl with the crown of thorns when she was little.
It had always frightened her, the way the girl would scream and cry and pin her to the ground, raising the dagger high to sink it right into Ranva’s heart.
She used to wake up in tears, running to find shelter in the bed of her parents. Her mother used to run her hand through her dark locks and sooth her back to sleep.
She remembered asking her mother who the girl was, but she didn’t have an answer.
“I don’t know, dear. But she cannot harm you, so don’t be afraid. The nightmare will pass eventually, just you wait.”
And she was right, it did.
Ranva almost forgot about it, until one day Henry crawled into her bed, frightened by a nightmare about a girl with a crown of thorns.
She had soothed him back to sleep like her mother once did for her, telling him the same calming words.
It took some nights, but eventually the nightmare passed for Henry, too. Still, this time the girl with the crown of thorns didn’t leave her mind that easily.
She kept wondering who she was and why she kept haunting the dreams of her family.
Maybe that was why one day, when she sat in her chair with Aiden sleeping close to her heart and exhaustion from worrying about her baby made her fall asleep as well, she dreamed of the girl again.
This time, the dream was different from what she remembered and what her eldest son had told her.
She wasn’t the one standing face to face with the girl, she was watching from the distance as the girl fought with someone else.
It was a young man and he seemed awfully familiar, though she couldn’t quite explain how or why.
Knowing how that dream would end, Ranva ran towards them to try and stop the girl from harming him.
As she got closer she got a better look on the boy that the girl was fighting with and it almost made her stop dead in her tracks.
He looked almost like Milan. Almost. But something about him was different.
Ranva could tell that it wasn’t her husband who was currently fighting for his life there, yet the boy felt strangely familiar and she felt the desperate need to help, to save him.
The girl now had him pinned down to the floor and a panicked scream escaped Ranva’s throat as she saw her raise the dagger high up into the air.
Its blade flashed in the light and much to her surprise the dagger, too, was familiar to her.
Pushing the realization aside she lunged forward to throw herself between the two.
Why she did it, she couldn’t tell, all she felt was the urge to save the boy.
But it was in vain, for she slid right through the two as if they were made out of mist.
Staving off a hard fall, Ranva rolled to the side. She tried standing up again, but somehow she couldn’t move.
Around her, time seemed to have slowed down.
Not too far away, the boy turned his head to face Ranva and their eyes met. He smiled slightly, mouthing something she couldn’t understand.
His outstretched hand twitched like he tried reaching for her and Ranva’s eyes filled with tears as she watched helplessly how the dagger sank down into his chest and the boy went still within seconds.
His eyes were still staring at Ranva, unblinking, and she had to look away.
Her eyes wandered to the dagger and the pair of hands still clasped around its beautifully adorned handle and even higher up to the face of the girl who had just committed the horrible crime in front of her.
A cold fist closed itself around Ranva’s heart. Because the person that held the bloodied knife wasn’t the girl with the crown of thorns anymore.
It was Ranva’s mother.
Ranva awoke with a gasp, her cheeks wet with tears.
Aiden was awake, too, crying and wiggling around as if he just had a bad dream himself.
Quickly brushing away her tears she started to sooth the baby, trying to calm both of them down. She held her little son close, pressing a kiss to his head.
It was just a dream, she told herself. Nothing to worry about.
Later, when her husband and sons were already asleep, Ranva sat down in front of their bed and pulled out a little chest from under it.
Careful not to wake Milan or Aiden, she opened the pretty lid, revealing a bunch of letters and items from a life she had long left behind.
Reaching into the chest, her fingers felt for something hidden away at the very bottom of it.
Something that hadn’t left her mind all day.
She finally found what she was looking for, pulling out an object wrapped in a dark red cloth.
Taking a deep breath, she unwrapped it, revealing an adorned bronze dagger.
It was the exact same dagger from her dream. Runa’s dagger.
Ranva gasped.
Maybe this wasn’t just a dream after all.
Maybe it was a warning.
#curtissonweek2023
I have no excuse for being hella late. I was just procrastinating throughout the whole day😭😭I finished it thoo
This work is, like the last three, an entry for @blue-fanlady's curtisson week!
This one is just little over 1k words domestic curtisson where they literally share a house and everything and yet they're not married?? 🤨🤨 yea I'm gonna have to call bullshit (but yea I didn't make them married in this story sorry)
ALSO I'm just as tired as them in this story rn and I'm not gonna lie I wrote parts of this fanfic half asleep so‼️‼️whoops ‼️‼️I'll proofread once I wake up cause a little after I post this I'm going to bed (at...7am HEDJHFJR)
Word count: 1.2k
Curtisson Week Day 4: Sleeping
Burt was sitting on the couch in the living room of he and Sven's shared house with a book in hand. He had it open, but wasn't really paying too much attention to the story. It was mostly just to pass the time as he waited for Sven to come home from work. He looked back at his watch. 9:43pm. That's around the time Sven got off, so he should be home soon.
Burt was lucky enough to be sent off of work early. Though he was kind of upset at the same time because usually he and Sven got out of work around the same time (Sven getting out about 30 minutes after him), so he never had to wait too long for him. This time, though, he was sent off three hours earlier than he usually was. He wasn't sure why, but he didn't question it. Time off work is time off work.
Though…maybe he should've offered to work the three hours anyway. Just so he'd have something to do.
Sven and Burt had moved in together fairly recently, so while all the necessary stuff were set, such as cooking supplies, a bed, a couch, dressers, etc, etc., they were still lacking some things that they were planning on getting once they had the time.
For now, though, most things involving entertainment weren't present. Aside from like, his phone and a few books. Which he was usually alright with. He was content just sitting there, drinking his morning coffee on their porch. "Like an old man." Sven would say. But it wasn't morning, nor was it really the time for you to be chilling out on your porch. Way too cold at night.
He was feeling a little tired, but he didn't want to sleep without his boyfriend in his arms, and chances are Sven felt the same way. Though, maybe doing a relaxing activity such as reading wasn't helping his case much. But eh, nothing much else to do that'll keep him distracted.
He decided that he might as well take a shower while he waited, so he set the hardcover down on the coffee table and went into their bedroom to pick out pyjamas. A loose orange shirt and pants fit nicely. He added some matching socks there too, for extra comfort.
Once he got in and out of the shower, he put his comfy pyjamas on, and went back into the living room. He sat back on the couch and tried to read the book again. It wasn't a bad story by any means, just not what he was in the mood for. Which he finally realized and decided to just scroll through his phone instead.
A few minutes later, he heard the front doorknob rattling and assumed that it was Sven. He turned off his phone, putting it on the coffee table in front of him, and looked towards the front door expectantly. He let a gentle smile appear on his face when he saw Sven walk in, closing the door behind him. “Oh, welcome back,” he said. “How was work?”
Sven moved to sit next to Burt on the couch. “It was fine,” he sighed. “How was yours?”
“The usual,” Burt replied. "Are you up for dinner?" He asked, tilting his head over at Sven.
Sven shook his head. "Too tired…can we just go straight to bed?"
Burt smiled softly at that and nodded. "Of course." He then stood up, expecting the other to follow him to their bedroom, which he did. They walked in and Burt turned on the lights so they could see better.
Sven flopped down face first on the bed, groaning as he hit the sheets, letting said sheets suppress his voice a little.
"Hey, hey, you have to at least take a shower first," Burt chuckled, gently lifting Sven up from the bed. The other grunted once more, but reluctantly agreed. He'd feel a lot more comfortable after a shower anyway. "I already took mine, so I'll just wait for you, yeah?"
Sven nodded, and waited for Burt to leave the room so he could have some privacy.
Burt patiently waited outside of their bedroom door, letting Sven finish doing his thing.
About 10 minutes later, he heard the clear. "Okay, you can come in now."
Burt opened the door and stepped back in, greeted with Sven looking much more comfortable. And adorable. "There you go. Let's get to bed, then." Ah, yes. The moment they've both been waiting for.
Burt turned out the lights and took Sven with him on the bed. He took his headphones and top hat off, putting them on top of the nightstand. Sven had taken off his own hat right after getting out of the shower so he didn't worry about it. They were both under the covers, lying next to each other. They were pretty close together already, but apparently that wasn't enough for Sven and he slid closer to Burt, before mildly gripping onto his shirt.
"Someone's clingy." He teased, leaving the other flustered. Burt couldn't help but snicker at this. His boyfriend had always been easy to tease. He never overdid it, though. Just whenever he really wanted to see his reaction. And Sven delivered every time.
Sven looked up at him, his cheeks pink from the proximity and the teasing. He stopped gripping on his shirt for a minute, instead just laying his palms on top of his chest. He kept letting his gaze wander to Burt's lips, and couldn't resist kissing him right then and there.
Burt was taken aback by the sudden kiss, but he wasn't complaining. Not at all. He closed his eyes and kissed back, letting his hand slide up into Sven's hair, twirling it around his fingers.
Sven found Burt playing in his hair to be very relaxing, and kept the kiss going for a little longer. He loved nights like these, where he could just lay down, cuddling and kissing his boyfriend after a long day of work. Without a care in the world. It felt amazing.
Unfortunately, the kiss had to come to an end eventually. Especially whenever a thing called oxygen existed. They both pulled away, letting out a soft breath as they did so.
Burt had stopped running his fingers through Sven's hair, now just resting his hand on his head. Sven buried his face into Burt's neck. "Can you…keep doing that?" He whispered into the crook of his neck.
Burt raised an eyebrow. "Doing what?" He asked.
"Combing your fingers in my hair…" he replied. "It feels nice."
Now it was Burt's turn to get flustered. Thank God Sven couldn't see the pink in his face, but perhaps he could tell anyway and he was just too sleepy to care or say anything.
"Okay…" he obliged and started to run his fingers through the others' hair again. His hair was always soft and well-kempt, making it nice to play with.
Sven relaxed even more than he already was, which was good for both him and Burt. It was nice seeing him not so tense.
Sven then placed a soft kiss on Burt's neck. Then another, and another. At first Burt tensed up from how sudden it was, but he slowly relaxed himself. Sven planted one more soft kiss onto his neck before nuzzling into it.
They both felt themselves begin to drift off. Neither of them tried to fight it. They let themselves fall into a deep sleep.
bee i am absolutely FASCINATED by ur 1895 gay siren story btw <3333
HI LIZA oh my goodness you have no idea how wide i smiled after getting this ask <3333 as a treat, i shall spill the beans on What It Is About Sort Of (<- girl who has written 1 scene. of the entire story. and doesn't even have a coherent plot)
-okay so basically. weird strange fishing family (the windells) children find a little girl washed up on a beach and they think she's dead but surprise! She Isn't. she is in fact a very powerful siren and they don't realize this until later because she can take on a human form. and they've already taken her in. so. whoops!
-while henry windell (literal embodiment of the autism creature) is a main character, he's one of a few; the first character to be Conceptualized for this world was mira windell, who marries into the windell family at the start of the story. she's very smart and also very weirded out because these children are very creepy and under socialized and she keeps waking up to weird noises (siren girl who henry and his siblings are hiding) and eventually she finds out about everything somehow. details TBA
-mira is honestly more of a sisterly figure to henry, since she's not too much older than him. she's not there to replace his mother, who died when henry was 10. I Think
-siren girl's name is pearl and she is VERY POWERFUL got some lore going on there and she is powerful for Reasons which i still need to figure out
-oh and henry is gay but doesn't realize it until he meets this silly goofy kid named jack and they're kinda rivals to lovers esque because henry is so under socialized and therefore Very Weird And Offputting
Chapter 20
Leia's eyes felt sore, heavy and red-ringed with exhaustion as her vision swam in the haze of liminal space between sleep and waking. Hovering there, she could swear she heard a deep gravely voice; hypnotic and commanding, otherworldly.
Leia...You're teasing me. You're so so tired...tired of all the tribulations. You've fought for so long. You don't need to be afraid, my dear. I want you to rest well. In fact, I have such lovely gifts in store for you. You'll see.
Despite the somnolent trance, somewhere in the back of her mind she could feel an alarm going off...some warning...there was something she was trying to do...What was it? Leia only had the sense that she ought to run, but couldn't quite recall why as she slumped, anchored to her spot on the couch.
She goaded herself. Come on...come on...open your eyes all the way. Wake up.
Once Leia finally gathered the strength to lift her eyelids, she scanned her apartment, now bathed in the cold blue light of the little hours. Small beams snaked their way through the slats of the blinds and the parting of the curtains to dance around a figure sitting in the chair across from her. A tall thin man with blond hair and severe features sat with his legs crossed and hands folded on his lap, like a therapist waiting graciously for his client's attention.
“Hello, darling,” he said in a more youthful voice than the gravelly one which greeted her. “I'm pleased to finally meet you.”
She tried to respond but her mouth was frozen. She could only think her response. You're him. Aren't you? You're Vecna.
Nonetheless, he heard her thoughts, and chuckled darkly, “Just Henry, please. What a dramatic name they've chosen for me!” He smiled an unnerving grin, full of teeth as white and orderly as his uniform, as he stalked closer to her frozen form.
Though she was cold and paralyzed, she could feel her pulse skyrocket with a blaze of fear. Her words emerged in a hazy tendril of disjointed thoughts. You're...you're not what I thought you'd be like. You're...beautiful. How are you beautiful? That doesn't seem right. Before...you were... Are you...are you here to kill me?
“Beautiful! Oh you are so sweet, aren't you? I can see why dear sweet Eddie loves you so much,” he said, now leaning over her, hands casually resting in his pockets, as if he were just out for a stroll. Suddenly his face was level with hers, large icy blue eyes boring into her as his smile dropped. “No. I'm not here to kill you. More to...hmm, how should I explain this? To gather you into my world... myself...like an embrace, but not yet.”
He put a hand under her chin, but the pads of his fingers didn't feel like skin, they felt desiccated, rough and clammy; like dead branches after a storm. She felt the hairs on the back of her neck stand up as his youthful face began to wither and scar, eyes clouding over with corpse-like cataracts. She felt the urge to scream but nothing came out.
“I have such gifts for you before I take you with me, Leia.”
Leia...
Leia!
“Leia!”
She woke from her trance with a start, realizing that Never Tear Us Apart was blasting against her eardrums from the headphones Eddie was holding against her ears.
“Leia! Oh god...oh Jesus. I'm sorry. I'm so so sorry,” he sniffed and whimpered holding her close, feeling her little body panting and shivering. “I fell asleep.”
She slowly got her bearings in her own real apartment, where every light was on and blazing despite it being 5 am, and still very dark outside. “Hey, I'm here...I'm here, Eddie. It's okay...” she soothed, holding him close.
He was crying, blubbering now. “I'm sorry...I'm so so sorry. I could have lost you...fuck, I could have lost you!”
She held his face, meeting his tear-soaked dark eyes, “Hey, Eddie, honey. I'm fine...I'm fine. I'm right here.” Leia kissed him, tasting the salt of his tears as she whisked them away with her soft fingers and gentle lips. Eddie was holding her so tightly that it began to hurt but she couldn't bear to stop him, for his sake and for her own. They clung onto each other like wreckage in a storm. After they spent a moment calming each other down, and Leia told him what happened, they both stared into space for a moment, trying to just accept the surreal and impossible.
Eddie rubbed over his face with a shaky hand, saying in a nervous whine, “Fuck...what do we do. What the fuck do we do, Leia?”
Leia's level head took over. She'd always been good in a crisis, and she'd never needed to roll with the punches more than she did right now. She shrugged, taking a deep shaky breath, “Uh...well. I need to shower and get ready for work. Wanna join me?”
Eddie stared at her in disbelief, dark eyes looking like a deer's in headlights. “You can't be serious! You're gonna go into work today?”
She shrugged. “Eddie, I have to stay awake, right? It seems like this might be the best idea to keep me on my feet all day. I can play music in the classroom while the students work to help keep him from getting in my head again. It's the last day before Thanksgiving break anyway.”
“Jesus...how are you always right?”
She smiled wryly. “I sure as hell try to be. The stakes are usually too high for me for be wrong.” She sighed heavily, the weight of it all sitting uncomfortably on her shoulders, but still, she smiled to him as she said, “Come on, handsome, take a shower with me. I'll let you wash my back...or whatever else you want.”
He couldn't help but chuckle as he rubbed his tired eyes. “Whatever you want, Princess. Anything for you. Always.”
-----
As Eddie spent the rest of the morning passionately fucking Leia against the wall of her shower, losing track of time, and then scrambling with her to get ready for the day, Dr. Ferguson sat in his house across town, nodding off. The dean sat with a cup of bitter coffee in front of him, nearly spilling it on the puke green velvet recliner; his favorite. Each time he woke again, he violently smacked the snooze button of the alarm clock beside him. He thought, vitriol rising, about how tired he was. He hadn't slept well for weeks.
It's all that little whore's fault. Women don't know their place anymore, giving an upstanding Christian man like me impure thoughts that keep me up at night, the stupid little Jezebels.
Ferguson had always been misogynistic, but it'd gotten worse ever since his wife left him at the start of the school year, unable to tolerate any more of his ranting about how women should all be barefoot and pregnant all the time. And then...and then there was Leia goddamn Vespero. Some highly educated little snot of a teacher with academic awards all over her resume, whom all these idiot students adored, especially that godless Munson boy.
The fact that Eddie Munson was no longer a kid, or that it was no longer 1983, or 1970, or the 1950's didn't often occur to Ferguson. He was stuck in the Brady Bunch and Leave It to Beaver ideals of a bygone time when men were men, instead of long-haired Satan-worshiping freaks, and women made dinner in pearls and high heels instead of being little show-off shits who got their Master's a year early and thought they were good enough to be professors instead of their secretaries.
Ferguson looked around his empty home, his living room, where he'd taken to sleeping every night in the recliner without his nag of a wife to make him go to the bed. Mid-glance, his bloodshot eyes flickered shut. His dingy 70's bungalow, was suddenly clean, tidy, and new, the way it had been when he'd bought it, right after it was built. He saw his 5 children (who were no longer children but were in this moment) lined up on the stairs in their perfect Sunday best of suits and modest dresses. And there was his wife at the foot of the stairs, saying in a softer, more docile, voice than she'd ever actually had, “Good Morning, John. We're all ready for church.”
He made a joke, to which his wife gave him an unsettling laugh that sounded like the canned laughter of a fake studio audience; all those artificial voices coming from a single red mouth.
Nonetheless, he smiled in smug satisfaction as he walked over to inspect his righteous American family, but the closer he came, the more their toothpaste-commercial smiles began to drop in unison. He looked to his wife as her make up dripped off, revealing every bruise he had given her over the years. They were piling on all at once until her head began to look like a rotten piece of fruit; a swollen over-ripe plum of a face still trying to smile for him, like he always told her to do.
Unable to look at the contorting, livid faces of his family, he screamed and stumbled back. Ferguson's eyes met the large crucifix on the wall, as he attempted to look at anything but them. It was wrong somehow. The tangled, sinewy figure of his lord and savior, emaciated and streaked with blood, was no longer ceramic, but a small living creature, that looked as if it had been flayed alive, full of pulsing ropes of bare muscle and ooze. It turned its skinless, smiling head as it hung there, and addressed him.
“Hello, John. Do you have something you'd like to confess?” it asked in a deep growling voice.
John tumbled back from the wall, falling with a thud onto the shag carpet and trying to crawl backwards until he slammed against a pair of legs. There were vines slithering from the monster's body constricting around him, and lifting him from the ground to face Vecna's milky eyes and smiling skull of a face. One gigantic clawed hand rose, caging around Ferguson's trembling head as he was forced to meet the creatures eyes. It said, slowly, deliberately, from vocal cords laced with decay, “Be not afraid, John. The shepherd is here to gather his flock. It'll all be over soon.”
With that Ferguson's thick red neck made a disgusting snap and his jaw lulled open. With his mind, Vecna reached within John's chest encircling the muscle of his heart with a bruising, invisible grasp. Then he squeezed, popping it was if it were no more than a water balloon.
In the waking world, the corpse of dean Ferguson still sat in his armchair, his coffee, having long since tumbled to the carpet in shards of ceramic and an inky puddle. His gray frozen face was distorted with fear and fracture. It would be ruled a heart attack (a cause of death which would surprise no one, and was technically true) but there were older cops on the police force who saw something in that twisted face they recognized...something from a series of cases 15 years ago.
-----
Leia walked quietly around her classroom and glanced at her watch. I was 10:30 am.
This will be a long day. She thought with a sigh, rubbed her tired eyes, yawned and shivered. She was chilly and grumpy, having run out of the house with a wet head of hair and some pain between her legs from and overenthusiastic Eddie. She smiled, thinking, to be fair I was the one who asked for more and harder, and it certainly woke me up.
The room was quiet as her students worked on their essays. The only soundtrack was the ticking of pens and pencils against paper and the low music coming from her CD player. She stretched and took few more steps between the desks as Thom Yorke crooned out the opening lines of Karma Police in his shaky pretty voice over the lazy strum of the guitar riffs.
She glanced out the into the hall and saw two teachers and a secretary talking in hushed but urgent voices as Radiohead played on...
Karma police, arrest this man. He talks in maths. He buzzes like a fridge. He's like a detuned radio....
The music played on but her awareness of it migrated to the back of her mind as she watched the hall get more and more crowded with the rising cacophony of her coworkers. Their eyes were wide. Their hands went over their mouths as they gasped. Something was wrong. Something was weird. A student called her over, and she put on a smile, helping him for a few minutes, before her attention returned to the hall as Thom wailed in the background...
This is what you get. This is what you get when you mess with us. For a minute there I lost myself. I lost myself. Phew, for a minute there I lost...
There was a gentle knock at the door. The secretary poked her head in and politely asked, “Miss Vespero, can...can I see you real quick?”
Light Shower. (Sal Fisher x Fem!Reader.)
part 7
-
"and all my anger, sadness, regret disappeared, its madness."
-
I walked next door to Sals apartment and knocked on the door. to my surprise, Henry answered. he looked like he was in a rush.
"Hey, Mr fisher! are you okay?" I asked cautiously.
"yes, thank you, sweetheart. I'm about to be late for work." he gave me a sad smile. "cone in, sals in his room."
"thanks, I hope you make it in time." I grinned back at him.
I knocked on the door before walking into sals room. he was laying in his bed in boxers and a T-shirt. he was playing on his gear boy.
"Hey, babe. you okay?"
he looked over at me and sniffled. "I got sick somehow." sal chuckled.
"oh, I'm sorry, sally face." I rubbed his arm. "can I crawl in with you?"
he nodded. "if you wanna catch whatever I have."
"I can take it." sal blushed. i climbed in, wrapping my arms around his waist, meanwhile making sure I didn't get in the way of his vision. "how are you not suffering with your prosthetic on?"
he giggled. "I am suffering."
"have you taken medicine and atleast drank a little water?"
he paused. "uh..."
"sal!" I exclaimed, getting up. I went to get him a glass of water and a little medication. I brought it back to him. "cant have you dying on me, damn."
"I'm not going to die, Y/n. it's not that serious." he rolled his eyes.
"you never know!" I replied in a sing song voice. I crawled back in bed next to him and handed him the water and cough syrup.
he took off his mask and quickly took the shot of medicine, grunting as he did so. he took a sip of water. "thank you, love." he gently kissed me, staying against my lips for a few seconds before pulling away. I moved his hair out of his sweaty face before moving back to my original position around his waist. I listened to him hum as he played his game before slowly falling asleep.
-
I woke up a few hours later, around 10. sal was asleep, too. I stretched before checking my phone.
larry: wya Todd's parents just gave me more weed ;) - 9:18 pm.
larry: Y/N!!! - 9:26 pm.
larry: uve got 2 be shitting my dick - 9:31 pm.
me: oml sal is on his death bed I can't leave him - 10:18 pm.
larry: idc bring his ass with!! - 10:21 pm.
me: he's sleeping
larry: wake the beast from his slumber and let's goooo
me: ure annoying lol
larry: I give u free weed that's not possible
me: my bad gangster let me see if sal wants 2 go
larry: tell his ass I got soup
me: lol ok
what I didn't realize is that sal was awake already. I turned to look at him, bit he was already looking at me. I jumped. "you scared me."
"sorry." he apologized with his raspy voice. he sounded worse. he kissed my forehead.
"we don't have to go to Larry's, you sound worse."
he cleared his throat. "I'm fine, he seems desperate and he has soup."
"mk." I whispered, gently kissing his soft lips. he wrapped his arm around my waist, pulling me in. "maybe we should just stay here."
we got up and sal put on pajama pants, tossing me a pair too. sal strapped his mask back on and we made our way down to Larry's apartment.
me: u better prepare soup cuz I'm pretty sure that's the only reason he's going
larry: already on it :D
-
larry and I got baked while sal happily ate his soup, with his mask on, of course. after he had finished, I laid my head in his lap and talked to larry about his girlfriend.
"dude, she has the biggest tits I've ever seen!"
"bigger than ashs? no way."
larry rolled his eyes. "sure."
"damn, bigger than mine!?!" I exclaimed. I glanced back at sal, who's ears were turning a shade of pink. I smirked to myself.
"yep."
sal coughed. "no way were talking about this. I don't even believe that."
"oh my god, sal."
-
I sat in my hospital bed, trying to comfort Y/n. she hadn't been allowed to take her pain meds that day.
"I'm sorry you hurt, Y/n." I frowned, watching as she curled up into a small ball.
"it's ok, sal." she whined as she pulled her knees closer to her chest. "can you read me a story?"
and I did. I read her 3 of the stories dad had brought me while I stayed in the hospital. i kept reading until I realized she had fallen asleep. I wasn't completely sure she could fully hear me through my bandages, though.
-
I took care of sal the next week, making sure he took his medicine and drank water. I stayed most nights with him so he didn't have to be alone. the funny thing was, by the time he was fully healed, I was sick, myself.
A Dip in the Pool of Peace (Markiplier x reader)
A short comfort blurb where you finally get Mark to slow down.
You woke up early that morning. It was still dark out; neither Henry nor Chica stirred from their sleep. Mark didn’t either, but you weren’t surprised. He’s been working a lot lately. You’ve tried pulling him away from his computer how many times, but it’s not enough. No matter what you do, all he’s done for the past however many days is sit in his workaholism.
You made your way to the kitchen, somehow more awake than you’d usually be at this hour. As per usual, you got out your laptop to write down whatever ideas came to you, and the coffee began brewing. You usually wake up before Mark, so you make his cup as well. Despite how sweet he is to you, he prefers far less creamer and sugar than you do. As you began to pour, the sunlight begins seeping through the large window to your right, and you almost forget about the carton in your hand. As you realize the oranges and yellows are filling your home, you get an idea. Making your way back to the bedroom, you decide to wake him, despite it being 6:30 am.
“Mark? Mark, my love.”
You shake him a little. It doesn’t work.
“Markkkkkkkkkkkk, wake uppppppppp.”
Your voice is right inside of his ear at this point. Eventually, after repeating yourself about a million times, he starts to move.
“Y/n, what darling?”
He rubs his eyes, sounding a little grumpy in his response to his waking.
“I want you to come see something.”
“Love, if I’m awake I have to get ready for the day. I don’t have time to waste.”
“So, you’re assuming what I want you to see is a waste?”
He sighs, trying to really wake up now.
“No. No, that’s not what I meant. I’m sorry. I’ll come take a look, but then I have to get working, okay?”
Good enough of a response for you. You grab his hand, lifting him out of bed and taking him through the hall and into the common space. You open the sliding glass door, and the two of you sit outside by the pool, your feet dipping in the cool water.
“So, what did you want to show me?”
You gesture to the sunrise.
“This. This is what I wanted to show you.”
He looks at the smile on your face, clearly not understanding.
“What, our pool? I know I haven’t had time to clean it in a while, but I don’t think it’s that bad.”
“No love, the sunrise.”
“Okayyy, and doesn’t the sun rise like every morning?”
“Yeah, but how often do you stop to look at it?”
He stares at the ripples in the water.
“I don’t know. Not a whole lot I guess.”
You look at him with a little bit of concern in your eyes.
“Mark, have you stopped to look at anything recently?”
It comes off a little harsher than you meant, but it resonates.
“I mean, you know I have deadlines and meetings and podcasts to record and-”
“I know that love, and that’s not what I asked.”
You lock your fingers into his. And he stops to think a moment longer.
“No. I haven’t stopped for a while now, have I?”
You nod.
“So I wanted you to come sit with me, and look at this sunrise, and just stop for a second and breathe.”
He tears up a little, splashing the water with a silent grace.
“You’re right. I do need a second to breathe, maybe a couple of seconds to breathe.”
“Then I’ll go get our coffee, and we can sit here and watch the sunrise, and you can forget about it all for a bit. How does that sound?”
He smiles, wiping away a couple streams of stress.
“That sounds great y/n. Thank you, really. Sometimes I feel like I just get so wrapped up in it all, and I don’t know how to stop myself. You somehow always know though, how to stop me.”
“I know. Just part of the many reasons I’m so perfect.”
He laughs as you get up, leaving a kiss on his scalp before leaving to grab your mugs. When you return, you get to spend a couple hours outside, taking in the sun and the wind, the singing of the birds and the scurrying of animals in the trees. It’s peaceful, and even if he only stops working for a few hours, it’s worth it. Every moment you spend with him is worth it.
Time Traveler Jimmy AU
AKA The “I want Henry and Jimmy in Payday AU”
The AU kinda came from the idea that it doesn’t make much sense for Hardcore Henry to exist in the Payday Universe because Jimmy Dies in the film, but I also have a deep craving for Henry x Jimmy.
If you could go back in time redo any moment in your life, what would it be? Nothing, not a single thing. Every choice, every mistake you’ve ever made has lead you to this very moment. They’re what make you who you are.
Jimmy was used to the feeling of dying. He'd done it so many times before but it didn't prepare him for actual real death. His final game over.
He thought of all the things he could've done differently, to get him to this point. Past this point.
The pain of his final avatar dying sliced through him, and he felt the familiar prison of his true body. Only it felt a little less like a prison now. Henry was kneeled before him, coated in viscera and bloodied knuckles. He couldn't help but smile. He’d made so many mistakes in his life, from trusting Akan, to building the cyber soldiers, to going into this battle without a plan B... He had made so many stupid mistakes that lead him to this very moment-
He wasn't prepared to die, but he didn't have a choice. At Least this time, unlike his countless others, Jimmy wasn't alone. He said goodbye and everything went dark.
And then…  he shot back up. Jimmy heaved, stumbling and falling to his knees and heaving dry on the floor. Whatever body it was not having anything to expel.
As thoughts raced through his mind, confusion stood on top. His avatars were all dead- no no HE was dead why was he still moving? Where the hell was he? Jimmy took in his surroundings and realization struck.
He wasn’t in one of his avatars. He was in his body. How many years had it been since he could walk on his own two feet, since he was well and truly free from the Straight Jacket of rotten smelly skin that was his body?
Jimmy let his knees give out beneath him. He didn't know nor care how it was possible, only that it was. In his dying moments, Jimmy had thought of all his mistakes, how he could fix them, and how they could keep him alive past his dying breath in the lift.
Right here, right now, he was in the best possible position to kill Akan. He knew things he shouldn’t, he wasn’t some cripple, Akan wouldn’t even expect it, it wouldn't be easy, but it was definitely more possible than before.
But that weary expression, those bloodied hands that cradled him as he died- it was all fresh in his memory. He couldn’t kill Akan. Not without losing Henry. Akan made Henry, made his friend. The chances of finding henry before Akan got to him were less than zero.
Jimmy lay on the floor of his first lab in his very own flesh and bone- and was forced to face the hardest choice of his life. Stop Akan and say goodbye to Henry, live his life free and unburdened by vengence or bound to a chair…. Or give that up. Chance everything going to wrong again, going worse than before, let history repeat itself, let himself make every single mistake one more time- Just for that possibility- slim as it may be- to see the man who made living feel like living.
And really it wasn't much of a choice. Jimmy was always a selfish man.
But oh my god I ain’t done yet....
Jimmys final words to henry were "Those memories? they're real, they're you. Trust them."
When Jimmy wakes up, he makes every crucial mistake again. He works for Akan, he invents the enhanced humans, he lets Akan lift him up and snap his spine. Everything with Akan must stay the same, for Henry for Henry for Henry.
But after Akan? There’s years between now and when Akan makes Henry. In those years, he invents the avatars, he gets high, gets laid, gets bored, gets lonely. It was only a matter of time before he interfered with Akan a bit for fun. Small and insignificant, but it paid off in the long run. Running around with Crackhead Jimmy with the Payday gang was fun. That sense of camaraderie made waiting as the years ticked by- waiting for Henry- somewhat more bearable.
When the time comes, when Henry crashed down on that motorway, he was finally free to kill that son of a bitch. This time, he was by Henrys side when it happened.
But things didn’t go the same as before. It was cleaner, faster. Jimmy had time to prepare. There were no gay jackets or romantic musical numbers. There were no tender moments together, cradling Jimmy and holding him close as blood bubbled from his lips and said goodbye.
When they finally get a moment of calm, Henry and Jimmy are just sitting on the roof amongst the bodies and blood.
He’d made every mistake again to lead him to this very moment- every mistake but one. One he’d always regretted. He didn’t leave Henry’s memory blocker in. It was a cruel, selfish and unnecessary mistake from before.
With the blocker gone, Henry’s memories were slowly coming back to him.
Henry flinches, holding his head in his hands, straining as he glitched with eyes forced shut. "Ah- another memory?" Henry nods. Without thinking Jimmy pats him on the shoulder, and says words he said more than five years ago at this point- words he doesn’t even realize he's repeating "Those memories? they're real, they're you. Trust them."
Suddenly Henry is curling in a ball, mouth wide in a silent scream and Jimmy is freaking out, When Henry finally calms, hes looking at Jimmy with wide eyes, full of... well, can’t quite tell. "Hey what is it mate, c'mon, whats wrong."
Henry just stares and- unbelievably, his eyes start to water. This stoic man who looks like hes never shed a tear in his life is looking at jimmy with wet eyes, and he just grapples him into his arms. "Woahwoah its alright mate, yeah calm down. Must've been a shocker memory yeah? Easy pal."
Henry doesn’t sniffle, he doesn’t sob. He just holds Jimmy close as pictures that weren’t quite right flashed through his head. He didn’t have a way to ask Jimmy what was happening, what they were or what they meant.... But he knew...
Those memories. They weren’t quite him, they weren’t quite real. But by god he trusted them.
He would do anything to prevent Jimmy from dying like that again.
Bonus:
It wasn’t uncommon for Duke to find his way to Jimmy’s bar. While he didn’t partake in drugs, the alcohol was more than fine and the company was good to have while he drowned himself.
Jimmy could talk endlessly for hours on end, never needing a response from Duke but always happy to get one. Tonight though, Jimmy brought up something Duke wasn’t expecting.
Jimmy never spoke of any personal relations he had, anything of actual substance regarding his past. So when he slumped against the bar, bringing up a man called Henry, Duke was glad he wasn’t blackout drunk. He didn’t say too much, but he was Jimmy’s best friend, someone who meant everything to him. Someone he missed more than anything and wished he had gotten more time with. Duke tended not to be one to pry, but he can’t help but ask what happened to Henry.
Jimmy lifts his head from the bar, wiping white powder from his lip, “N-never rrlly found out”
“Did you lose contact with him then?”
“In.. ina  way..” When Jimmy doesn't get a response other than a contemplative humm, he continues against his better judgment “He watched me die”
Jimmy was never the most coherent man, he was capable things bizarre and strange. He chose not to question it, not with nephilims, watchers, and other Kataru bullshit becoming the new normal.
“Well you’re certainly alive now. Couldn’t you just find him again?”
It’s then when Jimmy breaks, his face falls and he slumps back down into the crook of his elbow. “N-nonono i died, dukes, like forreal. ‘M not evnsss sure hhow im here. hhees not evenn reaal yet, I ddiedd….In,,  fcuking... twenty eighhtteen??”
Duke pauses. It was 2017. He wasn’t sure if Jimmy misspoke. He wasn’t sure if this was real or fabricated. But when he heard Jimmy’s muffled sobs, he suppsoed it wasn’t much of his business. Duke gave the man a small pat on his friend’s back, rubbing circles between his shoulders. “Alright let’s get you to bed Jims. I think you’re done.” That night, Jimmy dreams of synthetic skin and metal knuckles.
TOS Chapter 11: A Thing That Cannot Be
Tumblr media
Masterlist
Steve easily picked Alice up bridal style and carried her to the couch. He gently laid her down, making sure her head was resting on the pillow. He moved a piece of hair that fell in front of her face.
"Is she going to be alright?" El asked as she stepped up next to Steve. He looked over his shoulder at her.
"She's going to be fine," he whispered. "She just needs to rest, okay? She told me the other day this happens."
"What do you mean?" Dustin asked.
"Alice and I were talking and she told me that she often gets dizzy spells," Steve explained to the group. "After she healed Max, she passed out in her car."
"What?!" Several of the kids panicked.
"Relax," he laughed. "It's normal."
Steve ignored the irony when he realized their reactions were exactly the same as his was when she first told him. He looked back at Alice, something inside him changing. As he watched Alice sleep, a specific thing she said the other day repeated in his head.
"I could run as far as I wanted but I could never escape him. I have to finish this once and for all. No matter what."
"Whatever we do," he said under his breath, "we cannot let Alice face Vecna alone."
"I get that," Dustin chuckled, "but why are you pointing it out?"
Steve finally tore his eyes away from Alice and turned back toward the group.
"If Henry finds out his sister is still alive, he'll kill her."
"How do you know that?" Robin asked.
"Alice told me the other night," Steve said simply.
"The other night?" Nancy asked, trying not to sound as interested as she was.
"Last night, I couldn't sleep so I went on a walk," he sighed as he explained. "I ended up running into Alice and she joined me on my walk. We got attached by a demodog."
"What?!" Everyone panicked again.
"We fought it off," he said quickly. "Well, Alice did. I ended up getting hurt."
"What?" Dustin repeated.
"It bit down on my ankle," he sighed. "Alice helped me to her hotel room and covered my wound. I slept on her couch and when I woke up this morning, my ankle was still pretty bad. She healed me. We got to talking and she mentioned that we shouldn't go up against Vecna. She then let it slip that if her brother found out about her being alive, he wouldn't hesitate to kill her."
The group glanced behind Steve to see Alice still asleep. That's what Steve loved about this group. Even if they barely knew you, they'd do whatever they could to protect you.
                                * * * * *
The group tried to finish planning their next attack on Vecna, but they couldn't. Every one of them took turns watching her sleep. It was Steve's turn when it seemed like she was waking up.
She wasn't. Instead, she was stuck in the middle of a nightmare.
Steve jumped up the second Alice let out a scream. He collapsed next to her and gently grabbed her shoulders.
"Alice!" He yelled, trying to wake her up. "Come on, Alice. Wake up!"
It took a little bit more work but she finally woke up with one last scream. She sat up straight, struggling to wrap her head around where she was.
"Alice?"
Steve's gentle voice brought her out of her haze. She looked over at him, tears streaming down her face.
"Steve?"
"It's alright," he whispered. "You're safe."
"But Henry. . ."
"He's not here," he tried to calm her down. "He's gone, okay? You're safe, Alice."
She looked around, still struggling to dictate between her nightmare and reality. She looked down at her hands, noting that her powers weren't building. She was calm. Was it because of. . .
Alice looked up to see Joyce whispering something to Steve. He smiled and glanced back at her.
"You should rest," he said, grabbing her hands and pulling her to her feet.
"I should go back to the motel," she said under her breath.
"Absolutely not," Joyce spoke up.
"She's right," Will added. "You can sleep in my room."
"That's not necessary," she started to object but the group instantly started speaking over her.
"They're not going to stop until you agree," Steve laughed so only she could hear him.
"Fine," she gave in. "Just until I get some of my strength back."
Steve instantly wrapped his arm around her waist and started leading her to Will's room. He helped her into the bed, pulling a spare blanket over her. Alice watched as Steve took care of her. She felt all bubbly and nervous.
"There," he said under her breath. "Get some sleep. I'll be in the other room if you need anything."
Alice's heart jumped into her throat when Steve started to leave.
"Steve?" She spoke up, trying to stop him. He turned in the doorway and smiled at her. Alice cleared her throat as she struggled to gather her courage.
"Thank you."
                                * * * * *
"How are you feeling?" Steve asked as he walked into the room with a glass of water. Alice tried to ignore the weird feeling in her stomach when he handed her the glass.
"I'm okay," she sighed. "I just. . . I don't really know how I should be feeling."
"What do you mean?" He sat on the edge of the bed. Alice moved her feet to make room for him.
"I saw him, Steve," she whispered, her voice breaking. "I haven't seen him since the night. . . That night. But he looked different. I saw what the UpsideDown did to him. He clearly likes it. It's just. . . Whoever that was, it's not my brother."
Steve reached over and gently grabbed her hand. He gave it a couple of squeezes, not letting her go.
"You know we're on your side, right?" He asked softly. "This group does insane things to keep each other safe."
"I'm an outsider," she scoffed, looking down at their intertwined hands.
"That doesn't matter," Steve said quickly. Alice held her breath when he scooted closer to her. "You're a part of our group now, which means we'll do what we can to keep you safe."
Alice wasn't sure what was happening as Steve leaned in. By the time she figured it out, their noses were pressed together. He rubbed his nose against hers, ready to take this a step forward.
She wasn't ready.
"We can't do this," she whispered, leaning back.
"Why not?" Steve asked, his stomach flipping.
"Because," Alice hesitated.
"Tell me," he insisted.
"This isn't going to end well," she mumbled.
"What are you talking about?" Steve stuttered.
"For me," Alice clarified. "Fighting Henry. . . It's going to take a lot of power and energy to fight him. I've gone against one of the other experiments before and it nearly killed me. And he wasn't even close to being as strong as Henry. When I go up against him. . . I might not survive it."
"Wait," he said slowly, "are you saying. . . Either Henry is going to kill you or your powers will?"
"Honestly?" Alice scoffed. "Probably both."
Something something vampires or whatever
More vampire Micheal.
Henry sighs, the pair left before he could ask if Micheal remembered where he lived, or at the very least got his number. He sighs as he makes his way to his bench. His old knees are killing him.
"Here you are, sir." One of the night guards hands him a "sealed" bottle of water.
Henry smiles. "Thank you." It was quite hard to tell who it was. They were covering their face, but he knew all his staff by name. They must be one of the new hires. He takes a long drink of the water, and it tasted off. He looked back up, and that guard was gone. He ignores that sinking feeling of dread as he stares at the bottle in his hands.
William looked over at the interaction, ignoring the crowds of people gawking at him. Henry had a look of concern on his face as he stared at the near empty bottle in his hands. He didn't know what had happened. He didn't have ears around everywhere like the kids did. He watched his old friend grow pale and started to cough, and then a guard escorted him back to his office he had a couch in there he could rest on.
William huffs and punches the glass. He wanted to help him. He wanted to hold his partner again. He hated being trapped.
......
"So can you do it?" Micheal leans on the counter of an old occult shop, hidden in plain sight.
"It's not a matter if I can." The woman leans back in her chair. "Is he still hell bound?"
"No." Micheal sighs. "My mother is, however, not that she will ever get out of that she caused all that death."
"You little blood suckered all have unique little powers don't ya." The woman chuckles, putting her feet up. "Alright, Mike, I'll do it after I confirm the truth."
Micheal sighs in relief. "Thanks, Zoey. Consider the favor you owe paid off."
Zoey chuckles. "No." She smirks. "This is mere dribble compared to what I owe you. However, it won't stick unless he meets and bonds with his soul mate. If not, it's a week, and he tries again at life."
Micheal nods. "I know, and I already know who that is. Surprisingly, that man is still alive."
"I'll drop him off at this address tomorrow morning. My offer is still on the table if you want a third." Zoey laughs at Micheal's expression. "Joking joking. I know you won't touch a female in any setting, and I would rather enjoy my gender. Tell that blondie his order is in the works."
Micheal nods. "Of course. I'll see ya later, Zoey."
Zoey nods, waving Micheal off.
......
He recalled how he got home. One of his security guards helped him home. He doesn't recall letting them stay, let alone his bed with him. Granted, this would be Henry's normal thought process if his stomach was screaming at him and his mouth was dry like it was filled with cotton. He doesn't even realize that he is biting down on the man in his bed.
The man in his bed was startled awake by the pain that was replaced with heat. The pain morphed into pleasure as he clung onto the man. He sunk his own teeth into the man's shoulder, tasting blood on his lips. His body felt like it was on fire, and he needed friction.
Henry removed his jaw from the arm he was drinking from hunger faded as lust clouded his mind. He licked his lips and locked his lips with the man in his bed. He ripped the pants he wore off with strength he didn't know he had. The other man was already naked, which made things easier as he pushed him onto the bed.
The man stared up at him, a desire in his eyes as he pulled Henry to his lips again as they grinded against each other. He clawed at Henry's back. Words didn't come to him, but a burning desire and a growing emptiness inside of him needed to be filled.
Henry seemed to know immediately what the man under him wanted him to do. Neither man was in the right mind to prep or even go slow. They went at it like animals in heat.
....
Henry woke up again. He was on the floor and... oh. He covers his face, he was deep inside something warm, there wasn't a way put of this without waking whoever he was inside. He's in his 70s, and he hasn't been able to get it up in well over 5 years. He recalls waking up, and he was thirsty, but then everything was a haze. He took a breath, and it felt odd, like his lungs weren't working right. He didn't have the normal aches and pains either.
The person groans, waking up. A male British accent Henry knew all too well spoke up. "Oh.. I uh..." He shudders, pushing himself off. He was extremely sore and felt like he needed to sleep for another decade. He grimaced, feeling something drip from his abused hole.
Henry swallows, sitting up faster than he could in ages. His voice quivers, as he barely gets out a whisper. "...William?"
The man groans again, sitting up holding his head. "Henry?" They lock eyes. "Henry..." William rubbed his eyes, staring at the man in front of him in disbelief. "How?"
Henry grabs William's hand. "Shower first?"
William nods. "H-help me up."
Henry nods as they both make their way to clean up their shame.
......
The sun was setting by the time they left the shower, Henry noticed he looked much younger than he ever thought he would again. He even had color back in his hair. He sighed, breathing, and felt so wrong, like his body didn't need it. He looked back to William, who was wearing his one belt and had one of his t-shirts on that draped over his skinny frame.
"I think..." William pauses. "I think we need to find Micheal."
Henry nods. "Oh gosh, do you think he forgot where I lived? He said he was going to come by, but he left in such a hurry last night."
William sighs at the knock on the front door. "I think that answers that question." He heads down the stairs to answer the door.
Micheal stands there tension drained out of his shoulders. "Good, it worked."
"What did you do?" William narrowed his eyes as Micheal pushed pass him.
"A demon friend of mine owed me a favor. Granted, this will only last a week if you don't find your...." Micheal trails off, grabbing William's arm. "Who bit you? I was told you were dropped off directly here. You couldn't have been..." his eyes dart to his uncle, who looked just like he did when he was a child. "Fucking..." He huffs.
Henry raises his brow. "Micheal, I thought you had to be invited."
"A welcome mat does that trick." Micheal, let's go of his father and the two other men blink, and he's in front of Henry with a gust of wind. "What happened? How did you turn? "
"Turn?" Henry raised his brow. "Micheal, what are you talking about?"
Micheal looks over his uncle, circling him. "You weren't bitten...." He frowns. "Did you drink anything?"
"Last night, one of my workers gave me a bottle of water. It did taste off, but it was clear." Henry pauses, staring at Micheal then to William.
Micheal covers his face. "Vampire blood is invisible in water no matter how much you put in. Your drink was spiked." He pulls out his phone and starts to text someone. He paused as he caught a whiff of something. "Ah.... well, congrats, you two."
Henry furrows his brows as Micheal removes the coffin on his back and opens it on the ground. "Congrats on what?"
Micheal shakes his head and sighs. "Right, you're new to this." He pulls out two blood bags. "This one is for you, and this one will be for you, Father."
"For me? Micheal, I don't even know what's going on. Why are you giving me a blood bag?" William frowns taking the bag.
Micheal raised a brow, shutting the coffin. "Uncle Henry, your house reeks of sex, and two fathers that bite on your arm is a dead give away of what happened. Drinking blood is only ever erotic that you turn to beast in heat if you drink live from your soul mate. Uncle Henry, your new senses will take a bit to come in, and Father, you won't actually start for another hour or so if you did this first thing in the morning."
Henry squeaks. "You can smell that?"
William looks away to hide his blush. "Micheal, you don't have to be so crude."
"You're both lucky I'm here. I didn't exactly have someone to hold my hand through being turned or my first days as a vampire." Micheal sighs.
Henry frowns. "Can we stop this?"
Micheal laughs. "You can be killed if that's what you want."
Henry shakes his head. "No, absolutely not."
William shrugs. "I was dead, now..." He frowns.
"As I said, I asked my demon friend to give you a shot at life. You weren't hellbound anymore. You had a week not that it matters anymore to find your soul mate to make it permanent, another shot at life, so to speak. Well, now undead life." Micheal sighs. "You're going to need thicker curtains and train yourself to wake up during the day. You both need sigils as well to go out in the daytime." He continues to mutter as he paces.
William grabs Micheal's shoulder. "Breathe, my foxy boy, and tell me what will happen to me now so I can prepare."
Micheal sighs and stops pacing. "It will start with you feeling sick, then we'll you won't recall anything during the process, but it's painful." He swallows. "I helped Jeremy through his, I accidently turned him, but hey, we're soul mates, so it was bound to happen. You're going to head to the basement because it's soundproof." He sighs and turns to Henry. "No matter how much he screams and begs, you can not stop the process. Be glad you won't remember. I'm glad I was drugged before I actually turned...."
"You were drugged?" William's eyes widen.
Micheal crosses his arms. "I'm fine, don't worry about that. Just relax, and tell me when you start to feel sick."
William frowns. "We are talking after this young man." He crossed his arms. "I'm no longer under tour mother's thumb, Micheal. I'm going to care about you." He huffs knowing that came out wrong.
Henry snickers. "It's ok, William."
Micheal smiles. "Alright, now it's just a waiting game."
......
Henry frowns. "Was it one of my workers to... er poison me?"
Micheal shakes his head. "Probably not. Every vampire gets the general super strength, super speed, flight, and turning to smoke thing, but every vampire has a unique power. Some it can be as basic and boring as mine, I can tell alive or dead if you're destined for paradise or if you're hellbound, or if you're heading straight to try again as in reincarnation." He sighs. "You'll figure yours out in time. Jeremy can control water, which is pretty amazing."
Henry pauses. "So the one who did this to me shape-shifted?"
"Well, that's where it gets tricky. Vampires can shape shift if they have that ability, but also, shape shifters exist. Getting vampire blood isn't exactly difficult if you know where to find a vampire, and it only takes a drop to change a person." Micheal crosses his arms. "So it's difficult to say. I know it won't be a demon they are pretty chill and mostly focus on the living. Angels could do it, but most I've met refuse to lower themselves in a human form. They are real jerks. A fae could use glamor, but again they wouldn't go out of their way to do that they would rather curse you then turn you into a creature that is strong against their magic and they view as equals. A general assortment of cryptids that don't fit into one category really just don't seek out to harm humans or turn them, that normally happens by accident."
Henry nods, not really understanding, but he's trying to wrap his mind around it. "So what now?"
"Well, tomorrow night, you'll both get registered, so you can get blood, and then an investigation will begin to see who turned you. Tonight, we can start testing out what you can do to begin with. You won't get everything right away, and be warned the heightened senses kind of hits you like a brick, and you'll want to scrub this place top to bottom, and that won't help." Micheal sighs.
Henry nods. "Will I be able to tune it out?"
"Eventually, but that takes time and practice. Mine are a bit too strong, so I wear two sigils to dampen it, but I'm an anomaly on multiple levels." Micheal rubs his arm. "I rather not discuss that unless it's needed."
"Ok, how do I start?" Henry smiles.
"Well, first, let's make sure that you don't accidently fry yourself in the morning. Father is safe in the basement." Micheal smiles. "Then we can start with a strength test."
......
Henry wakes up early, well, early considering his new status. He sighs, watching the ray of sunlight filter through his blinds. It couldn't be that bad, and he would be fine. He moves his hand into the ray of sunlight and his skin starts to blisters and bubbles as if it was boiled. Henry pulled his hand back, biting back a string of curses. Ok, Micheal was right.
Henry gets up and dodges around the sun's beams, getting hit a few times. Thankfully, vampires heal fast. He makes it to the basement door and heads down. He has a blood bag on him, so he drinks that quietly as he spots William curled up in the corner, dead asleep.
Henry smiled. It was surreal seeing his friend alive again, and even more odd, having his nephew back. Actually, the last day and a half has been wild, and he probably needs to call his sister. He needed to warn her she was visiting soon, and by soon, he means, like in a day with her son. The William issue he could explain, but Micheal and himself would be a bit harder.
Henry pulls William to his lap as he sits down. He will have to adjust, but soul mates. He never thought that could be real, and it made sense that it had to be him. Ever since college, they fit each other perfectly, but then the arranged marriage, and Margaret proposing things got messy and complicated. He loves his daughter so much, and William was made to be a father. He couldn't complain, but he's glad Micheal intervened before he died.
William clung to Henry like a baby hugs their first toy. Henry smiles, sipping on his blood bag. "Together again just like old times. Oh, Clara will be pissed." He smiles, he figured out she was the mastermind when she got stuck in Ballora, and when William confessed to only 9 of the kinds, including his daughter.
He still has to figure out how he can keep working.
.....
William stirred awake, and something was shoved into his face. He doesn't get a chance to speak when the taste hits his tongue, and he drinks it down greedily. He finishes the bag and looks around him. His son was crossing his arms. "Yes?"
Micheal sighs. "Come on, we have a lot to do and not a lot of time, due to it being the summer and nights are so short."
William nods, getting up. Henry was already next to him, dressed and ready. "But I don't have any clothes of my own."
"We can get you some clothes along the way. We need to register you two first." Micheal helps both up the stairs and out at night. "Jeremy has already informed them, and I gave a written report. You two just have to get there."
William sighs. "Micheal, we aren't children."
"No, but you're fledglings, who haven't even started to develop their abilities yet, and if it happens on our way...." He sighs and shakes his head. "It's overwhelming."
The three men pile into Micheal's car. It's a quiet drive out of town. William's pupils stretch into lines as his eyes glow a dark purple, and he reaches out, grabbing Henry's hand.
"William?" Henry looks over to the man next to him as he tightens his grip. "Are you alright?"
William shuts his eyes and, with his free hand, rubs his forehead. "I understand why Micheal rushed us."
Micheal looks back through the mirror. "Do you need me to stop?"
William shakes his head. "No, I'm ok. Just hit me all at once. I understand the smell thing, and.... I can hear heartbeats from the animals outside."
Micheal nods. "It's ok, just take a moment, you'll get used to it."
Henry pulls William hand closer. "I'm surprised it hasn't hit me yet."
"You're a late bloomer. It happens. It once took a new fledgling a month before he got the enhanced senses. You're not alone." Micheal sighs and parks the car. "Do you need help getting out, Father?"
William shakes his head. "No, I'm ok." He sighs, getting out. "I'm good."
Henry smiles. "Alright.... uh, where are we?" He looks around to the empty forest clearing.
Micheal chuckles, his eyes glowing purple and blue as he snaps his fingers, and a large building appears out of nowhere. "You'll learn how to see past glamor soon enough. Now come on, they are expecting us."
Both William and Henry had looks of amazing on their faces like they were kids seeing the stars for the first time.
.....
Micheal approached the man? At the front desk, he had a deer skull covering the top of his face and a smile that stretched ear to ear as antlers were sprouted from his head. "Darius, when did you get transferred here?" Micheal smiles, waving his father and uncle over.
Darius smiles. "Micheal, it's been too long. Nah, I'm not transferred, just filling in here. It's a bit too peaceful here for my liking. Anyway, that's your father and your uncle?" He pauses when Micheal nods, and he starts to type into his computer. "Yeah, Jeremy already took care of the majority of the work. Your report was quite detailed for a text message. Anyway, you need to head to the sixth basement level and head to the door for vampire fledglings. Careful, though there was an outbreak last full moon, and a bunch of new pups have been flooding that area."
Micheal sighs. "Thanks for the heads up. Oh, how's your girl doing."
Darius chuckles. "Puberty is not doing her well. She's been a handful."
"Good luck with that, and if you can spare a few teeth, I have to make sigils for them." Micheal pauses as he hands over a large white bag.
"Just take them. I am tired of stepping on them. I swear they are worse than Legos." Darius smiles. "Seriously, though, use them to buff yours as well. I know you need it."
Micheal nods, taking the bag. "Thanks, and I rather not make that public." He sighs. "Thank you, though. I think mine are cracking, so these will help."
"Fuck man be careful." Darius frowns.
Micheal waves and pulls his father and Henry to the elevator.
......
"Uh, what was.... he?" William pauses he picked up on a lot of lgbtq information by listening to the night visitors.
Micheal chuckles. "You're right. He's a jersey devil. That's as far as he can look normal, human like at night. He's a good guy his daughter just turned 13."
William nods. "I see."
Henry pauses. "You know we were told to avoid them in the fields at night where I grew up. Also, to never follow a whistle at night."
Micheal chuckles. "Yeah, I forgot you're from the deep south, but you're right to take those warnings." He sighs. "Are you two ok?"
William shrugs. "I'm as fine as I can be suddenly brought from being dead for over 30 years."
Henry nods. "I don't have the aches and pains for being in my 70s anymore, so I'm doing great."
Micheal sighs as the door opens. "That's good." He groans at the crowd. "He wasn't kidding. Look at all these new pups." He grabs his father's hand and then his uncle's. "Hold on tight."
"What do you..." Henry gasps as Micheal pulls both men through the crowd at a breakneck speed.
William is gasping for air he no longer needs as he hugs his chest.
Micheal chuckles. "Oh, don't be a baby, I wasn't even going that fast."
The three men were pulled inside the door by an annoyed looking woman. Be white hair draped over her shoulders. "I swear this is the third drink spiking this month alone. I was told this area was supposed to be quiet."
Henry hisses as she scratches his arm, putting something in a glass vial. "Hello?"
The woman stops staring at the three. Her eyes lock to Micheal. "Of course you would be tangled in this. How are your sigils holding up?"
"There cracked?" Micheal frowns.
"Cracked? Fucking already?" She pulls Micheal's arms towards her pulling up the sleeves to see the two bracelets. "These aren't cracked there barely held together by sheer force of will sit and give me that bag. I'll have a temporary set in an hour for you and then new ones at the end of the week. You two grab one for each of you on the rack over there. Choose your style. You'll be wearing it if you ever want to see the sun again. Blood bags are in the fridge in the corner sit, and my assistant will help you two."
Micheal pulls his hands back. "I'm not hearing for me. That's my father and uncle, we came here for them." He huffs as he is put into a chair. "Victoria, come on."
Victoria sighs. "Fine, fine." She turns around as William puts a necklace on and hides it under his shirt. Henry has taken a bracelet. "Alright, I see Zoey did a good job on your father, and your uncle did the rest of the legwork." She pauses, approaching both men grabbing Henry's jaw and forcing his mouth open. "Teeth fully formed. However, the glands aren't fully formed yet, so he can't use his teeth to their full capacity yet." She pulls his head down. "Eyes are fine, reds a nice color, none of the senses have developed yet, but that is normal for a late development. Alright, you're fine." She lets go and moves towards William.
"Wait- i," William doesn't finish as she grabs his shirt and pulls him down, and opens his mouth.
"Glads fully developed teeth are good, and sharper then your partner good signs. Eyes a darker purple than your son. Senses have fully developed, alright. You're fine." She turns back to Michel, pushing both men back. "Now on to you."
"Fuck." Micheal scowls. "I was really hoping this wasn't the place you transfered too."
"Oh hush. You need a full work up, and I need to run more tests." Victoria pauses. "I'll be taking you to the deeper level. Your mate will come up here to explain things to your family." She sighs. "You can't keep running from this."
Micheal looks away and lets her push the chair to the elevator in the corner of the room. "I'll see you two in a bit."
"W-wait..." William barely gets out when the door shuts. He sighs. "I'm worried." He looks back to Henry, who was rubbing his jaw.
"Worried about what? Micheal has been like this way longer than us." Henry looks back up at William. "Is it that doctor?"
"No, Micheal has a tell, I'm glad he never grew out of." William scratches his chin. "He's uncomfortable and holding back information. I'm not going to leave him to deal with this alone. I know he's an adult and knows this world better than us, but he's still my little boy Henry."
Henry nods. "Of course, when Jeremy comes in, we can ask him what's going on." He smiles softly as William nods and heads to the fridge.
.....
"Is Micheal ok?" Was not the first question Jeremy was expecting when he opened the door to the fledgling processing room. He pauses. "What do you mean, er Mr. Afton?"
"The woman Victoria took him down through that elevator, and I know my son. What is he hiding? Is he alright?"
Jeremy frowns and pulls a chair over to the two men. "Well, yes, he's perfectly fine and healthy for a vampire, but well, he has very strong abilities." He rubs the back of head. "To put it in a more understandable nature, you guys are normal, and Micheal is well a God among men when it comes to his vampiric abilities. He is quite dangerous, and so unlike us, he has to wear multiple sigils at a time, and they break. Which isn't exactly normal or well ever supposed to happen. Unlike other vampires, Micheal's powers keep growing, and well, he can't stop it, and none of us who well are doctors and scientists for vampirism can explain it. His turning wasn't exactly unusual. He was bitten and drained and got lucky he turned, and we're here now." He frowns. "He doesn't like talking about it. He's embarrassed and upset that it's happening to him."
William frowns. "Can I help him?"
Jeremy nods. "Of course, just be his father. He's not good at showing emotions, as you probably know, but he's so excited to have you back."
Henry nods. "So, what do you guys do for work?"
Jeremy smiles. "Oh, I'm a general surgeon across the board for all the species here. I help out where I can, Micheal and I travel around he does odd jobs for our community, and I help out for any medical emergencies. You see a little bit of everything. However, I think we're going to set up roots here helping you two along."
"You're a surgeon?" William's eyes widen. He didn't think this kid could do that.
"Yeah, I know I don't look like the type." Jeremy chuckles. "So what do you two plan on doing?"
Henry frowns. "I want to keep working at the museum, I enjoy taking care of the children."
"I'm sure the local demons can help pull some strings to help you on that, and what about you, Mr. Afton?"
William shrugs. "I've been dead stuck in a rusted broken suit for the last 30 years, I don't know. I want to start building things again, maybe help out Henry with the museum."
"I'm sure we can work with that." Jeremy gets up. "Alright, now we just need to confirm a few basics and set up blood deliveries, and you two will be all set to the training room to test out what you've developed so far."
Henry and William nod as Jeremy explains how things work.
.....
Micheal yawns as he makes his way down to the training grounds. It's an immense facility and can contain the most powerful attacks. He walls over hunched over, trying to be smaller, then his 6ft5in frame allows. "How's it going?"
Jeremy gasps and pulls Micheal into a hug. "Oh, I missed you."
Micheal smiles. "Jeremy, it's only been a day." He sighs. "I'm fine. You know how Victoria is when it comes to this. Got some temporary sigils and stuff."
"Alright, good, so update on the two. Your uncle has mastered control over his strength, which is quite impressive, and even more so, his fight skills have given our best stationed here a run for their money. Which is shocking because he's such a nice guy. I didn't know he could fight." Jeremy shrugs.
Mkcheal raises his brow. "I'm sorry, my uncle can fight?"
"Yes, quite well, in fact." Jeremy pauses. "Your father, however, isn't much of a fighter. He gave up after hitting the wall a few dozen times. He, however, has mastered his speed and already learned how to get his wings and fly for a bit. Your uncle has only managed to change his eyes back and forth."
Micheal nods. "Alright, that's good." He walks over to his uncle, who had a smile on his face and was rocking on his heels. "Hey, Uncle Henry, Jeremy said you've adapted well to your new strength."
Henry smiles and nods. "I have, I'm a bit rusty when it comes to fighting. I haven't been in many fights after I went up to college. I was a hellion growing up in my teen years picking fights all the time."
"You picked fights?" Micheal can't wrap around seeing his uncle as anything but a sweet, soft hearted man.
"Oh yes, I was an awful little thing. I don't know how my sister dealt with me." Henry smiles. "Oh, your father is above us. He's enjoying his wings. I haven't quite figured that out yet."
Micheal nods and releases his wings. "You'll get the hang of it. I'm going to go bother him. Are you alright to keep going?"
Henry nods. "I haven't had this much energy in decades, and everyone here seems so nice. Although they keep Asli g me if I want to go more rounds in a fight, it's all in good fun, right? Just to test myself, oh someone is waving, I think they want to spar."
Micheal raises his brow as Henry walks over. He recognized that woman to be the head of the angelic army for the Pacific Northwest. He hopes she will take it easy on his uncle. He takes a breath and shoots upward, flapping his wings and weaving his way through everyone to his father.
"Ah Micheal, are you ok?" William smiles at his son.
"I'm fine, Father." Micheal crosses his arms. "Are you adjusting well?"
"I suppose as well as I can." William looks down. "I believe your uncle is way too excited to have the energy of a young man again. I honestly thought Jennifer was lying when she told me about Henry as a teenager. Granted I rather not talk to her if I had a choice, but being stuck in the museum, I didn't have a wide array of people I could talk to."
Micheal follows his gaze and is impressed with his uncle. "He sure knows how to fight."
William huffs. "Speaking of his sister, she's supposed to be here with his nephew in less than a week."
Micheal frowns. "Have you discussed that with him?"
"He told me not to worry, but I know for a fact he does not have a plan. It will work itself out. They have a unique relationship I've never been able to figure out. Henry doesn't ever talk about his childhood or anything before college." William shrugs. "I think it's best to let him get out his energy then to ask at the moment."
"So, have you guys talked about the soul mate thing?" Micheal has a smug smile as his father's face lights up in a blush.
"Oh hush, and wipe that smile off your face, boy." William flies down as Micheal follows.
....
Henry yawns, they had to leave they got their blood and sigils so they could travel during the day. He might have gone a little too hard sparing the others. It's been a very long time since he was able to move like that, let alone fight, so he took advantage.
"Hey, fledgling." A woman with blonde hair and green eyes had her arms crossed as she approached Henry.
Henry looks over. "Oh, hello, I apologize if I went a little hard on you. It's been a very long time since I've been in a fight, let alone been able to move like that."
The woman blinks. "That was you out of practice?"
Henry looks a bit embarrassed. "Yeah, I was a little hellion growing up. I became better when I headed to college, but that was well over 50 years ago. You're not too bad, either. You had me on the ropes a few times."
The woman smiles. "Would you want to join me? I run the task force here to control riots and fringe groups that want to attack innocents."
Henry shakes his head. "The sparring was quite fun, but I own the museum in hurricane, and I quite enjoy looking after the children. I appreciate the offer. Maybe I could join you later on when I'm on vacation." He smiles.
She sighs. "Very well, I'll have to accept that answer then."
Micheal walks over. "Oh Cinder, what's up?"
Cinder smiles. "Ah, hello Micheal, I didn't think you would come by here. What brings you here?"
Micheal smiles. "Well, that fledgling is my uncle, and I have to bring him home before he passes out."
"Your uncle?" Cinder raises her brow.
"Well, not by blood, but I consider him my uncle. Anyway, Jeremy parked the car out front, and Father had already fallen asleep." Micheal smiles.
"Ah, he never falls asleep that easily, huh. Alright, it was nice talking and sparing with you. I'll head out now." Henry waves heading back outside to the car.
Cinder looks at Micheal. "What can I do to convince that man to join us?"
"Brung his daughter back from the dead along with the rest of the kids." Micheal frowns. "I'll be staying for a while helping them settle, so I can pick up some work."
Cinder frowns but nods. "That bad?"
"There's over 30 kids in that museum, and they refuse to move on. My mother was the one to put the majority of them in there." Micheal sighs.
Cinder pauses. "I know that story is pretty well known around here, so that man is Henry Emily. Didn't know he could fight that well or that he was turned."
"Someone spiked his drink disguised as a night guard." Micheal frowns.
Cinder scowls. "Those have been happening quite often. Alright, I'll call with any jobs for you."
Micheal nods. "Have a nice morning, I'm heading back over there."
"Stay safe kid."
Micheal nods walking off.
...
Micheal picked his father up from out of the car, and Jeremy helped his uncle inside. "We should have just slept there."
"Micheal, remember there new to this, familiar settings will help the transition." Jeremy sighs, carrying Henry to his room, Micheal following behind him. "How are those temporary sigils holding?"
Micheal shrugs, tucking his father in. "I mean, I can go out in the sun, obviously. I don't know Victoria gave me five this time."
Jeremy's eyes widen. "Five temporary? Fuck." He sighs. "Come on, we both need a shower, and we can use the guest bed because I want to cuddle."
Micheal sighs. "Fine, but we're sharing my coffin tomorrow."
"You just like using me as a weighted blanket." Jeremy giggles. "Not that I'm complaining."
......
William pulled the blanket over his head as the phone blared an obnoxious ring tone he knew Henry had for his sister. It was some country song that they both adore. "Henry o swear if you don't answer that I'm breaking your phone."
Henry cracks his eye open and paws for his phone, answering it. "Hello?" He yawns sitting up. The sun was just setting over the horizon.
"Henry, I have been trying to call you all day. I thought you finally croaked. Where have you been?" Jen sighs.
"Asleep?" Henry blinks, finally waking up.
"Asleep, Henry, the sun just went down!" Jen huffs.
"Aren't you in Texas?" Henry yawns again, rubbing his eyes as he gets up.
"No, I'm about ten minutes away from your house. The Lord Almighty Henry, if you looked at your phone at any point during the day, you would have seen that I was coming early, and Gareth is with me. I am not going to a second fucking funeral this month." Jen pauses hearing a different voice that is William grumbling that Henry is leaving his bed. "Do you have someone in your bed?"
Henry squeaks. "N-no."
Jen pauses. "I can appreciate that you can still get it up, but seriously? I hope you didn't fucking break your hip." Gareth is heard groaning in the background. "Oh hush boy."
Henry gets dressed as fast as he can while still on the phone before he heads downstairs. "Jen, I don't need you judging my choices. I am an adult. I'm also sorry I couldn't make it to the funeral. Is Gareth ok?"
Jen sighs. "We're pulling in. I'll talk to you inside."
Henry curses under his breath, not realizing how different he looks as he shoves his phone in his pocket. He huffs as he makes it downstairs as his sister opens the front door. "I'm sorry I've been asleep all day."
Jen freezes, stating at her brother. "Henry?"
"Look, I'm sorry I didn't answer your calls and messages. I was up all night, and I just woke up."
Jen blinks, taking a breath. "Henry!"
Henry stops and stands up straight. "Yes?"
Gareth comes in behind his mother with the luggage and drops the bags. "I have to be seeing things."
Henry pauses as his mind finally catches up with him. "So I have something to tell you."
Jen covers her face. "You have five seconds to start explaining before I start beating your ass."
"Yes, ma'am." Henry mumbles. "I uh someone spiked my drink and well before that Micheal came by, and uh turns out vampires are real, and uh..."
Jen holds up her hand. "Henry quiet." She sighs. "Ok, vampire?"
"Yes?" Henry pauses. "I swear I'm not lying."
"He's not." A British accent breaks through the tension. "Uncle Henry, go eat." He motions for Henry to head to the kitchen, which he does. "Two days ago. It wasn't me." He stretches, cracking his back. "I know it's a lot to..." Micheal stops when Jen glares at him.
"Who the fuck did this to my baby brother? I don't care that he's a vampire, and I don't care what baggage comes with that. Why did it happen?" Jen scowls, crossing her arms.
Micheal sighs. "Uh, I don't know, and uh, fringe groups exist to hurt or turn the living. I've been explaining things and helping him through it, oh uh that coffin is mine. I can move it." He looks away.
Jen takes a breath and looks back to her son, then back to Micheal. "Is he ok?"
"I mean, he's healthy. He's a bit of a late bloomer when it comes to the development of the senses and control of his other abilities, but he's fine." Micheal frowns. "But that isn't to say development delays aren't bad per se, it effects everyone differently."
Jen sighs and smiles. "Micheal, relax. I'm not mad at you. I'm just glad my brother is ok."
Gareth clears his throat. "So who was the guy in my uncle's bed?"
Jen pinches her brow. "Gareth..."
Micheal smiles. "No, no, it's find that's a bit of a story. So, I have this demon friend, and well, since my father isn't hellbound anymore, it was like a week shot back to life, but if he found his soul mate, then he would get his second shot without the reincarnation bit. That's the simplified version."
Jen nods. "Ok, I understand. Would it be possible for me to see him?"
"You should probably let him eat first just to be safe." Micheal sighs.
Gareth frowns. "Where do you get your food?"
"Expired donations and blood that didn't make it pass screenings for donations." Micheal shrugs. "Nobody really feeds live anymore unless they were looking for their soul mate, or they are starving."
Gareth nods. "That's good, I guess." He still looks uncomfortable.
"Gareth honey, set these bags in the guest room for me." Jen sighs. "Don't mind, my boy, this is a lot he just got over the whole museum thing last year."
"It's ok, I get it learning the creatures that are supposed to be fairy tales are real is jarring." Micheal smiles as Henry passes him a mug. "Thank you, Uncle Henry."
Henry nods. "Of course." He turns to his sister, taking a sip of his warmed mug. "Are you ok?"
"More so that I'm not at a second funeral." Jen sighs. "Are you ok?"
Henry nods. "My body doesn't hurt anymore, and I have energy again. I'm alright just getting used to being like this."
Jen smiles. "Then that is fine."
......
Jeremy sighs, rubbing his eyes. "Hey Micheal, sorry I had to leave early. These pitbreaks are a real killer to keep away from the living." He blinks. "Uh, who are they?" He just came through the front door.
"Hello to you too." Micheal sighs. "That's my Aunt Jen, my uncle's sister and her son Gareth."
Jeremy pauses. "Ok, but uh... why is your father hiding behind your uncle."
"Mmh, not hiding, Henry is just comfortable." William crosses his arms.
Micheal sighs. "My father and aunt do not get along."
Henry chuckles. "Didn't you two make amends in the museum?"
"I don't recall anything of that nature." Jen frowns, glaring at William.
William looks away. "I didn't even turn him, and I couldn't stop it. I was behind that unbreakable glass."
Micheal sighs and moves between Jeremy and Gareth.
Gareth yawns. "They've been at this for an hour at this point. I don't think my uncle has realized he's the neutral ground."
"Geez, that bad?" Jeremy sits next to Gareth. "Who has the upper hand?"
Gareth pauses. "At this point? I don't know."
Micheal drops himself next to Jeremy, his taller frame wraps around him.
Henry smiles. "Was your trip up alright?"
"It was quiet." Jen sighs. "Did it hurt?"
"Did... oh, I have no idea. I can't recall any of it, but that's normal. I was dropped off at home, and then I woke up." Henry pauses. "I just, I haven't felt this good in so long I didn't think it was possible." He suddenly gets up. "Wait, the museum."
"Will run fine while you figure things out." William pulls Henry back to the couch. "Charlie knows the systems inside and out along with Elizabeth. They can handle any issues, and tomorrow is maintenance, so we can slip in while the day and nighttime are closed."
"William's right." Jen frowns. "It's been less than two days. The kids won't die a second time."
Henry sighs. "I know that." He huffs. "I just don't like making them worry."
"You aren't making the kids worried. They would be worried if I came alone." Jen sighs.
"Your sister is right. The kids have agreed that's the sign you died." William hums, tapping his fingers against the couch.
Henry's eyes widen. "What?"
"Well, that or Gareth. Even still, we all knew you didn't have much time left...." William leans back. "The kids would stay after only for the reason to haunt Clara. Eventually, they would leave, and I would, well, I would try again."
"You can say reincarnation." Micheal sighs.
Jen frowns. "What?" It's her turn to have a confused expression.
"My father wasn't hellbound anymore. He was forgiven by the kids he hurt and the ones he didn't. He wouldn't get his paradise his afterlife until he tried again at another life. A new slate, so to speak, he wouldn't remember any of this even in death afterward." Micheal shrugs. "It's always an option for those in paradise or those who had served their time in hell."
The conversation died after Micheal explained the afterlife to them.
.....
"Alright, everything should be fine. Your workers and stockholders were easy enough to convince." She says the last part with finger quotations. "The local town now knows you as a duo of inventors who created fazebear, well continued the legacy and are known night owls helping out during the night and rarely seen during the day. My little group loved the challenge. Enjoy your night shift." Zoey smiles, sinking into the pavement.
Henry blinks and stares at William. "I uh ok.... thank you?" He sighs, looking back to his sister parking, and Micheal and Jeremy are holding the door open for them.
"Are all your new friends that....uh" William frowns not finding the right word.
Micheal snickers. "Zoey is a demon. She tends to mix acient tongues with modern slang. She is also incredibly bubbly to new people."
William sighs as he enters the building. "Right..."
Henry hums and frowns as he rubs his eyes. He didn't register they changed color, as he moved inside. He blinks and smiles, crouching down. "Hey, my little darling, I know I look different."
William raises a brow. "Is that normal?" He whispers to Micheal.
"Well, yes, but only those who were turned with about 3 days left of their living life left, and....huh, that's Uncle Henry's unique power." Micheal watches his uncle pick up nothing as a solid form takes shape to his young daughter.
"Daddy, you're not old and wrinkley." Charlie giggles as Henry tosses her over his shoulder.
"Now, what did I tell you about being nice?" Henry smiles, putting her down.
"Sorry, Daddy, but it's true." Charlie giggles. "Hi Mikey." She smiles and waves.
"Hi Charlie, now go get everyone else." Micheal watches her run off through the glass. "She's still dead, but as long as you're in the building, we can all see the dead."
Henry tilts his head. "Huh, what did I do?"
Micheal chuckles. "You've got your special ability, well two. You were near death when you were turned, so you can see the dead naturally, and two you are a becan kind of where you go I don't know how large the area is but everyone else can see the dead. Granted, you can touch them. Maybe we could too with you nearby."
Jeremy jumps. "Ooo experimentation time."
"My uncle isn't a test subject." Micheal huffs.
"Actually, I would like to test it." Henry smiles. "But I want to see the others first."
William wasn't really listening he was watching his youngest slowly creep out from a pillar out in the open. "Evan, it's ok. Come on."
"Daddy?" Evan runs over, hugging William's leg. "Daddy, what happened? You promised you wouldn't go until we did."
"See that tall man over there with the blonde one?" William crouches down. "That's Micheal, go surprise him."
Evan's black eyes widen. "Charlie was right. Is it ok?"
William smiles. "Go ahead, Evan, go surprise your brother." He watches Evan run up to Micheal.
"Mikey!" Evan giggles. "You came back."
Micheal looks down. "Evan?"
The boy nods. "Y-yeah. You got big."
Micheal chuckles crouching down. "Yeah, puberty hit me like a truck. How are you doing here?"
"The guests are very nice, and they leave us toys and drawings." Evan smiles, jumping up and down. "Come on, we have to find Lizzie."
Micheal gets up and follows behind Evan.
Jen sighs finally inside. "Boy, stop trying to hold my arm, or I'm going to give you a beating."
"Yes, Ma." Gareth sighs. "You need a cane." He flinched as his mother gave him a look that made him feel like a deadman.
Jen huffs. "Well, I never." She turns her gaze to the rest of everyone. "What's with the happy faces?"
Jeremy smiles. "Mr. Emily discovered his special vampire ability." He points to Charlie who has run back.
"Aunt Jen!" Charlie giggles. "Daddy made it so you can see me outside the mirror, and hear me without the speakers. Isn't that so cool?"
Jen gasps, covering her mouth. "Charlotte, that's amazing."
Jeremy nods. "Well, technically, if his drink wasn't spiked, he would have died today. Not many species have the ability to see the dead. Vampires if turned three days exactly from when they were supposed to die, they gained the ability to see the dead. Of course, angels and demons can see spirits and a handful of other species, but it's not exactly a common trait without help, like mirrors or electronics."
Gareth freezes. "So if this didn't happen..."
"Your uncle would be dead today." Jeremy hums. "Kind of was a blessing in disguise."
Gareth hugs his chest. "I don't think I could have handled another funeral."
Jen holds her arm out. "Come on, kid, help me around. I'm old and decrepit."
"But..." Gareth sighs. "Thanks mom."
William frowns and moves next to Henry. "Who's funeral was it, and why did you miss it?"
"My nephew just lost his wife, and the doctors didn't clear me to travel. My heart would have given out, and well, learning that today was supposed to be the day I died, I'm glad I didn't risk it." Henry frowns. "It hasn't hit him yet. They just put her in the ground."
William nods. "Hey Gareth, how about you leave Jennifer, and we can have a talk."
Jen glares at William. "My boy isn't going nowhere with you." She waves him off.
Gareth smiles. "Ma, be nice. He is your brother's soul mate."
Jen scoffs. "You can do better, Hen."
William rolls his eyes. "At least I won't cheat on him."
"Wait, you knew?" Henry looks at William then to his sister.
"Henry, we all knew you only found out after the divorce." Jen sighs. "I do have to give you that you're loyal, and I can respect that."
"Ugh, are you guys done? Come on, I wanna play." Charlie puffs out her cheeks and crosses her arms.
Henry chuckles. "Alright, little darling, we can play."
William sighs. "I should probably find Micheal, Lord knows what the other two are asking from him."
Jeremy chuckles. "Eh, it can't be that bad."
.......
Micheal is sitting on a bench with a notebook in hand. "Now I need you two to sit still if you want me to draw you both."
Elizabeth huffs. "We are still."
Evan nods.
Micheal can't help but smile. "Alright, just let me get the basic sketch down." He goes quite fast from years of experience. "Ok, that's good enough. I'll add details later." He holds his book up. "No peaking, you get to see when it's done."
Evan frowns. "But Mikey."
"Your baby doll eyes won't work, Lizzie." Micheal sighs. "Go bother father he has a body now."
Lizzie gasps. "I'll get there first."
"Nu uh." Evan runs first with Lizzie following.
Micheal smiles, spotting Henry and then Jen and Gareth. "Enjoying the sights?"
Jen chuckles. "Charlie is such a sweetheart. There is just too much energy for my old bones." She sighs. "Gareth, I'm fine, I will have my brother bite me if you keep stressing like you are boy."
"Would..." Gareth stops when Jen steps on his foot.
"Boy, you know better than to argue with her." Henry smiles. "And I would never do that."
"You watch too many movies draining the body of blood only has a 25% chance of turning someone." Micheal smiles. "If she wants to turn, she can ask herself."
"Thank you, Micheal." Jen smiles.
Gareth nods. "Sorry, Ma."
"I forgive you, now help me to the bench I want to sit." Jen sighs, sitting down. "Are you going to stay Micheal?"
Micheal pauses. "I haven't really settled down since the incident at Baby's. I don't know, it's been a long time since I've been in one place for more than a month. I want to stay to help out. I don't know. I tend to attract attention that I'm not a fan of."
Jen huffs. "That's too bad because I won't let you leave my baby brother to deal with this with only Willy by his side."
Micheal smiles. "Well, I guess I have to stay then."
Henry sits next to his sister. "Am I allowed to speak for myself?"
Jen pats his leg. "Oh, hush, let me take care of you for one of the last times."
"Don't say that." Henry frowns. "You'll outlive us all."
Jen sighs. "I rather not, but I'm glad you won't be gone before me." She looks over to Gareth. "Boy, don't look at me like that. I'm 75. I know I'm at the end."
"Speaking on that...." Micheal sighs, leaning on the glass. "You should get home soon. Tonight's a full moon, and there are a ton of new pups running around. Most haven't been registered, so be careful of stray dogs alright. There was an incident last month, so they're still trying to account for everything."
Gareth nods. "Noted."
Jen huffs. "It's not even 10pm." She sighs and gets up. "Alright, fine. Gareth, take me back to my brother's."
Gareth nods and waves heading out.
Jeremy pops up from a cloud of smoke. "Well, I'm too late."
Micheal raises his brow. "I warned her about the pups."
"Yeah, well, when they pulled in, a stray was nearby, and I overheard that it nipped her hand, along with her son." Jeremy clicks his tongue. "Granted, it could have just been a stray dog. Well, know if she seems livelier."
Henry frowns getting up. "What are you talking about?"
"Ah werewolves don't live forever until they are killed like vampires, but they do have an extended lifespan, think 250 to 300 years. Which isn't a problem since the population is very small, even with mass turnings. The majority don't survive the first full moon transformation because they don't prepare correctly." Jeremy hums. "But don't look so worried we won't know till tomorrow."
Micheal rubs his temples. "Jeremy...."
Henry frowns. "I think I'm going to head back with her." He rushes off to catch up with his sister.
Jeremy pauses. "Ah, my bad."
.....
Jen sighs and pushes her brother away a second time. "I am going to bed, and again, that was just a dog. You would have done the same, Hen." She crosses her arms. "You too, Gareth, you got bit too."
Gareth sighs. "Yes, Ma. I'm heading to bed."
"And you." Jen points to Henry. "Go to bed before the sun rises. I don't care what charms you've got. I ain't cleaning your ashes."
Henry sighs. "Yes, ma'am." He frowns. "Just rest well."
"I sleep like a rock like you do." Jen smiles softly. "I'm fine, and if it's true. I'll be safe and follow the directions to a t so I won't risk my safety."
"Thank you." Henry smiles. He is pushed as Jen makes her way to the guest room. "Hey!"
"Oh hush, we both know you're built like a wall. Keep it up, and I'll buy you a coffin." Jen winks.
Henry rolls his eyes. "Don't be obnoxious." He sighs. "Sleep well."
.....
Jen wakes up early right with the sun. She yawns as she heads out to the kitchen. "Uh, good morning?" She pauses seeing Micheal sitting at the table.
Micheal waves. "Morning."
"Aren't you supposed to be nocturnal?" Jen frowns, taking a seat by him.
"Insomina still exists for vampires." Micheal sighs. "You look like that dog wasn't a dog, but that also means that dog." He does air quotations. "Probably didn't make it till morning."
Jen frowns. "Alright, explain, before my brother hears any of this."
Micheal nods. "For the first full moon you have to prepare, increase protein intake vitamins intake, and food in general. What new pups get wrong is that they do this the day before, but you have to do it the entire month as your body prepares. When werewolves turn and they look like normal street mutt, well then that's the first and last time. They live out the rest of their life as a mutt and die a normal death." He sighs, leaning back in his chair. "Normal werewolves are about ten times the size of wolves, and have a humanoid form as well, mostly the natural borns have that, but it's not unheard of for turned to be able to do that as well. After the first full moon, your body will adjust, and the risk is almost non-existent as you continue forward during each full moon."
"Alright, how much longer will you be up?" Jen hums, tapping her nails against the wooden table.
"Why?" Micheal raises his brow.
"I need to go shopping, knowing my brother he hasn't really put any food in this house. Which isn't his fault as you get older, you need less to sustain yourself. Well, that's how we feel." Jen gets up. "Are you up for a shopping trip?"
Micheal nods. "Yeah, maybe it will tire me out enough to sleep."
"Good because I'm not waking my boy up. He needs the rest after everything." Jen smiles. "Let me get dressed, and we can head out."
Micheal nods, already starting his car.
.....
"Ma?" Gareth rubs his eyes. "Ma, are you ok?"
"Boy, you have eyes look at me." Jen sighs. "Anyway, new rule, you will not be allowed to leave the table till you finish your food. Turns out that dog wasn't a dog, and we have to follow rules."
Gareth gives a sheepish smile. "Y-yeah ok." He sighs. "Thank you for the food."
"Ah, Micheal helped me go shopping this morning. The poor thing has trouble sleeping, but he's back in his coffin." Jen has stacked her own plate high with various meats and eggs. Her son's plate seems to match it. "Now you aren't allowed to leave till your plate is empty, and neither am I."
"I'll keep you to it." Gareth smiles.
.....
Henry woke up with a start. He had to check on his sister. "William, move. I have to check on Jen." He can feel his partner groan and toghten his grasp.
William huffs. "She's fine." He buries his face into Henry's chest. "Nobody woke us."
Jen taps her fingers against the door. "Oh, little Willy is right for once." Shs chuckles, watching William glare at her while clinging to her brother. "We're both fine, and we are preparing accordingly."
William groans, pulling away, rubbing his eyes. "What do you want?"
Henry frowns. "William, be nice."
"Yeah, Willy, be nice to your sister in law since you two are married in everything but name." Jen chuckles, watching William cross his arms. "I got you guys dinner, and I was even nice enough to heat them up for you." She tosses the two blood bags at them.
"....thank you." William sighs, biting into the bag draining it in seconds. "Why?"
Henry drinks slowly from the bag because his teeth aren't fully developed yet. "William, not everything has a double meaning."
Jen smiles. "Not asking for anything, but advice about Micheal."
William sits up straight, pulling away from Henry. "What about my son?"
"I'm worried about him. He was well up past the sun rising, and he did start to burn on the drive back. I understand insomina, but he seemed paranoid and stressed. He seems to have seen things that only people coming back from a war zone have seen."
William frowns. "Testing my flight, I did talk around the others. It was mostly rumors and such, but some are convinced Micheal is the new nosforatu, or Dracula incarnate, and want him to lead as such. Being ruthless, having slaves, bringing an age of new vampire terrorism in a sense." He crosses his arms. "From what I could gather as well, it seems some of these groups have attempted to take Micheal and break him to be what they want. It hasn't worked, but I'm not going to push him to tell me anything he needs care, not an interrogation."
Jen pauses. She knew that without Clara, William would have been caring for all his children like a rockstar of a father. "Alright, now another inquiry. Does Micheal have a thing for small spaces? Jeremy keeps trying to coax him out of his coffin, but it isn't working, which is the real reason why I came up here."
William gets put of bed stretching. "Yeah, ever since he was a kid. It comforts him and makes him feel safe." He yawns and heads down the stairs.
Henry finishes his bag. "Are you ok?" He's squinting he still needs his glasses.
"I'm fine, and you need to put your glasses on. I swear you're blinder than a bat." Jen chuckles, leaving the entrance.
.....
Henry makes his way downstairs. William is sitting on Micheal's coffin, and from the muffled laughter, Micheal is still inside. "Good evening."
Jeremy smiles, putting his flashlight in his pocket, tapping Gareth's shoulder. "You're good it's day one, and you two are moving along perfectly." He looks over and waves. "Hello, Mr. Emily, did you sleep well?"
Henry nods. "Is Micheal alright?"
"He's in timeout." William responds dryly. "He already ate."
More muffled laughter. "Father, my seals just broke. I want to be in here."
"No, don't listen to him he's suffering in the eternal darkness of his tomb." William can't help but crack a smile listening to Micheal laugh harder.
Henry smiles and gives William a kiss on his forehead. "May I join you for his eternal punishment?"
"I suppose you can join me." William taps softly as Henry takes a seat.
Jeremy smiles. "Don't worry, we already alerted Victoria, and she'll be over with more temporary sigils. It's going to take a bit longer for a new sturdy one because of this, but that's ok."
Jen smiles, sipping her coffee. "So his solution to the overstimulation was to hide in his coffin?"
William interrupts Jeremy about to explain. "A custom coffin like his is made to be mostly soundproof and seal almost air tight. My little fox did a good job fitting it together. I know he didn't buy this."
A muffled groan comes from the coffin. "It's just a box."
"It's a very impressive build, Micheal. Be proud of it." William hums. "So what are your plans?"
"I'll be up for a few more hours, then I'll head to bed." Gareth sighs. "Going to head on a grocery run."
Jeremy pauses. "I'm going to help Victoria with the new sigils in the upcoming weeks, but today I think I wanna make a stew." He raises his brow at the looks. "We can still eat normal food, but it's like eating cotton candy it won't really do anything, but it tastes good."
Jen pauses. "Aren't you guys allergic to garlic?"
A loud muffled voice from Micheal. "That's a myth."
"Micheal's right, garlic used to be seen as religious in certain circles, and any objects of faith hurt us. It's not as bad as you would think, but it still hurts. It still can it just has to be welded by someone who believes in it wholeheartedly, so like a cross thrown at us won't do anything unless the attacker believes in the power." Jeremy hums. "Vampiric rules get weird when it comes to faith."
"I feel like that's an understatement." William frowns. "But I'm glad to know I can still eat if I so choose."
Henry smiles. "Oo, that means I can still cook on the barbecue."
Jen smiles. "I'll hold you to that, Henry."
"Of course I'll make your favorites." Henry smiles.
