Who’s Your Daddy?
Word Count: 1,396 Thanks to @tishinada for letting me borrow Zas for this harrowing moment! And to @dimigex and @kunoichi-ume for encouraging my nonsense!
Isashi sipped her tea, reveling in the peace of a world where no one needed her to fix anything. The company house’s proprietor was a talented craftsman and could always be found in the lower levels tinkering with something new. His wife had recently gotten the itch to redecorate again, making it the third time in as many moons that Isashi had walked into the building and wondered if she had the right place. Add that with the myriad of other talents within the company, and Isashi had a haven where her laziness wouldn’t be noticed.
“How does it feel being back in Ul’dah?” Zas asked the young miqo male who’d accompanied her as of late.
Isashi took another sip and surveyed the boy over the rim of her cup. He couldn’t be long into manhood, with full cheeks and not a scrap of hair on his chin. There was a wide-eyed innocence to him that had likely tugged at the older adventurer’s heart. From what little Isashi had heard, Zas had rescued the boy from a band of Ixali somewhere in the Shroud, and the two had become inseparable.
Salix, as Isashi had been introduced when she joined the duo in front of the hearth, nodded with enough enthusiasm to bobble his ears. “It feels…right.” His dark eyes sparkled as his chest expanded in a deep inhale. “It smells right.”
“Will you tell us of your family?” Isashi asked, settling into the plush cushions of the common room. Their company house wasn’t large, but well furnished and inviting.
Salix’s midnight skin darkened around his ears in what Isashi assumed was a blush. The youth didn’t appear to be fond of any sort of attention, looking to Zas for rescue that the older adventurer refused to give. Likely, the elezen archer had been working on teaching her young ward to stand on his own. Though, if Isashi had to put gil on it, she’d guess Zas had done her fair share of interventions for him too. The woman was as hard a fighter as Isashi had ever met, but with the soft center that she herself lacked.
Digging in his jacket, Salix produced a small, wooden figure that looked like it might be a gladiator once there was more than a head and torso carved from the block. “It’s big,” the boy said, talking more to the figure than Isashi. A small knife followed, then a cloth draped across his lap much like his mentor usually did. “I’m the youngest of ten, the first nine were girls, and—”
“Bloody hells, that sounds like a right nightmare. Heya, Sashi.” Kirin trumped up the stairs, shaking sawdust from his pants with each step. The former pirate went straight to the bar and made himself comfortable next to the ingredients for his favorite mixed drink.
Isashi watched Kirin in silence, waiting to see if the miqo’te had any other pearls of wisdom to share, then motioned for Salix to continue. The boy swallowed, keeping his eyes on the older male while he spoke. “It, uh, it wasn’t bad, most of the time.” He shrugged and went back to his whittling. “It was family.”
Kirin leaned over the bar, banging around with his back to the rest while he searched for a mixing flask. He wasn’t a member of their free company, but he and Isashi had been friends since close to Salix’s age. So long as he helped when the owner requested it, Kirin was allowed to stop by to shelter from whatever storm plagued him.
“Did you have a favorite sister?” Zas asked as she worked on the strings of her bow.
There was a marked difference in Salix’s responses to the elezen than to anyone else. He straightened in his chair, ears flicking forward. “Osi was only four months older than me. We played together until she was old enough to hunt, but she was always kind.”
“What of your mother?” Isashi was curious about the sole woman in the tribe bearing a boy. Did she protect him from the pecking of older sisters, or did she train him to leave the village from an early age?
Isashi knew of traditional Miqo’te tribes. Matriarchal societies allowed a single male to sire children until they were done with him. Then, he moved on, and the women resumed their normal routine while raising the next generation.
A note of sadness entered Salix’s tone, and he cradled the figure closer to his chest. “Her name is C'seife. I look like her, not a hint of my dad in me, according to her.” Salix looked up, mouth open to add more, when Kirin opted to rejoin the conversation that he hadn’t been invited to.
“I once knew a lass by the name of C'seife.” Kirin turned around and propped his elbows on the bar, sipping contentedly from his glass. “Ain’t thought o’her in years. Met her in Ul’dah shortly after leaving me crew.”
Kirin’s head tipped to one side as he studied the boy. “Come t’ think of it, she looked a might like you, boy. Dark on dark, with eyes as big as the moon.” He sighed dreamily and took another sip. “That was a night to remember. Ain’t met another like her since, this would’a been, well shit, twenty years back?”
Isashi saw Zas’s brows raise a hair before hers followed. Salix’s mouth snapped shut with the click of his fangs. The only one among them to not grasp the implications of Kirin’s boast was the man himself. That struck midway through his next drink and sent the prized mixture sputtering in a fan before him. Thankfully, Isashi was out of range.
Wiping the back of his hand across his mouth, Kirin’s eyes narrowed at Salix, who appeared to be rooted to his seat. “Nah,” Kirin half growled, then his ears dipped. “Unless…but that—” He shook his head and glared at the poor boy frozen in place
“How old are you, Salix?” Isashi asked, softening her tone for fear that the lad might bolt if anything moved too quickly. His answer was muttered, but there was no denying that the dates matched. Isashi turned a scrutinizing gaze upon her long-time friend. “You’ve got to be kidding me.”
Tumblr media
Kirin, whose ruddy complexion had darkened substantially, rubbed the back of his neck. “I mean, can we all just admit that we’re more surprised this hasn’t come up sooner?”
“You can’t be—” Salix blurted in an uncharacteristic shout. His jaw hung open, eyes wide with either horror or hope. “My father was killed in the Shroud. He—he was pale with red hair. A renowned warrior. He—” Salix ran out of steam, then sank back into his seat.
Isashi let the boy process in his own way while she continued to stare at Kirin. She’d always loved the pale blue streaks distinguishing Kirin’s green hair, though she’d never give the man more to preen over than he already did. That same blue dominated most of Salix’s close-cropped style. It was the only resemblance that Isashi could find until the boy looked up at the man who might have truly fathered him. “Do you think?”
Kirin shrugged and swirled his drink. “I’ve known a lot o’ women, me boy. Yer mother very well could’a been one of 'em. Now that I see ye better, there’s no doubting that ye’ve got her eyes. She was a hell’ov’a hunter. We met in the Saphire Market.” Kirin looked into his drink, then sighed and set it on the bar. “What say I buy ye a proper brew, lad?”
And then Isashi saw it. The smile that exploded into existence brightened Salix's features in an almost mischievous way. The crinkle around his eyes turned him from gangly youth into dashing rogue. “Bloody hells,” she breathed, catching Zas’s startled expression. The bard had seen it too, having known Kirin long enough to rebuff his flirtations. While Kirin’s smile was sly and seductive, Salix’s was joyous and pure, but their shape was the same.
Isashi needed no other proof. Her bastard of a friend, the man who’d slept with her husband years before they’d met, who irritated her to madness, the same man who’d cared for her through Haurchefant’s death, then gotten himself abducted by his own pirate crew, that man was now a father. “May the gods help us.”

it's not ever what it looks like
for @steddielovemonth prompt 'love is saying you're sorry'
rated m | 3,299 words | cw: language, implied sexual content | tags: angst with a happy ending, arguing, established relationship, hurt/comfort, rock star eddie munson, teacher steve harrington, modern au, steve thinks eddie is cheating on him but HE ISN'T I PROMISE, marriage proposal
💔💔💔💔💔💔💔💔💔💔💔
It wasn't the first time Steve woke up to pictures and articles about Eddie being seen with some model or actor, but it was the first time he'd actually been worried.
Eddie had been distant lately. Usually, when he was on tour, he'd call Steve on his lunch break and text him when he got off of work, and he'd try to Facetime him after his show if it wasn't in a different time zone.
But for the past week or so, he had excuses. They sounded legitimate until one of the afternoons he said the band was caught up in an interview so he couldn't call and Jeff called him ten minutes later to ask where Eddie was. Even with that, Steve hadn't assumed he was cheating.
Steve figured maybe Eddie was just tired or his social battery had run out. Those kinds of things happened before occasionally.
But not daily for over a week.
He was barely even responding to texts, and the ones he did respond to were hours later and hardly adding to any conversation.
And now this article.
There was a picture of Eddie standing with his arm around some guy who was taller than him, both of them laughing, looking at each other like...well. Steve knew that look because it'd only ever been pointed at him, but now he was seeing it pointed at just some guy.
The headline read EDDIE MUNSON GIVING UP HIGH SCHOOL SWEETHEART FOR SUPERMODEL SUPERSTAR?
Steve decided the only way through this was to read the entire article. At least then he could probably convince himself they were wrong.
Except the article went on to explain how Eddie hadn't brough Steve to any shows yet this tour, and how he'd been flirting more with the crowd after the show instead of just during it, how he was seen at two bars over the last week when he usually doesn't go out after shows.
It went on to say that these pictures were taken shortly after they'd been seen sneaking away from a group of people they'd been hanging out with and that they seemed very close for the entire night. The article said the guy was a male lingerie model who made it big posing for Gucci last year. He'd just landed his first film role as a supporting actor and was looking to land a lead role soon.
Steve hated him. And he was getting a terrible feeling in his gut about what was going on.
He had 26 unread texts, most of them from Robin, Dustin, and Gareth.
All of them had said mostly the same things:
I can't get ahold of Eddie.
He wouldn't do this.
Something else is going on.
Call me when you can.
The last one was Gareth, and it's not that he and Gareth weren't close, but they never talked on the phone.
He tried not to think about he didn't have a single message or missed call from Eddie.
Steve called Gareth.
"Steve. Shit, I'm glad you called."
"What's going on?"
Gareth sighed. "Ed's kinda losing it. But before you call him-"
"Why would I call him? Shouldn't he be the one to call me? If he wants to be with some supermodel, he should probably be the one to break up with me, right?" Steve could feel tears gathering in his eyes, stinging the back of his throat. "I'm not sure why I have to be the one to hurt and do the breaking up."
"Steve-"
"Is there something you needed Gareth? Or were you just trying to defend your friend?"
"There's nothing to defend! I swear-"
"Yeah. Well. Tell him to call me if he wants to explain anything, I guess."
Steve hung up just before a sob ripped from his throat.
He never had to worry about Eddie being a famous rock star, spending 6-7 months of the year gone, meeting all kinds of flashy celebrities. Eddie loved him so much, he never had any doubt that he'd always be his first choice.
Until now.
It was a shitty feeling and he had to be at work in less than an hour.
No time to wallow.
He sent a quick text to Robin to let her know he was okay, but needed to focus on getting through work, then shut off his phone.
"Is everything okay?" the art teacher, Mrs. Phineas, asked him on their lunch break. "You seem out of it today."
"Just a migraine," Steve gave a half-smile, hoped it was enough to convince her to leave him alone. He still hadn't turned on his phone, and at this point, he didn't really want to.
She tilted her head to the side. "When are you off to see your man?"
"Don't know," he shrugged, ignoring the tug in his stomach, the sudden weight in his chest.
"Ah," she said, turning back to her soup. "Something happened."
"Nothing happened!"
"You look two seconds away from crying," she gave him a deadpan look. "Did he hurt you?"
Mrs. Phineas was a little older than Wayne, close to retirement, and had been his closest friend from the moment he started teaching at this school nearly six years ago. He'd told her everything about Eddie, their relationship, his hopes of Eddie taking a longer break after this tour so they could have some time just the two of them, maybe make a real plan for their future.
Steve nodded once.
Her hand covered his and she squeezed his fingers in her own. "I may not know him half as well as I know you, but I know that boy loves you. You two will get through this, whatever it is."
"I dunno if we will," Steve whispered, scared to speak louder and risk the tears falling. He'd been doing so well today.
She patted his hand and went back to eating, saying nothing else about it.
His students had caught on early that he wasn't quite his usual self, and the group of second graders had been on their best behavior because of it. As the dismissal bell rang and he started calling for bus riders to line up, someone walked through his door.
Eddie walked through his door.
He bit back the anger, knowing his students loved Eddie and wouldn't know he was here for any reason other than to say hello.
"Mr. Munson!" A few of them yelled as most of them ran up to him instead of getting in the line Steve asked them to.
"Hi kiddos!" Eddie was faking it, but luckily the students couldn't tell. "Sorry, but you guys have to listen to Mr. H right now. I promise I will come say hi again tomorrow."
The students grumbled about it and Steve took in his appearance.
He had dark circles under his eyes like he hadn't slept the night before, his hair was in a messy bun instead of perfectly arranged to fall on his shoulders, and he was wearing Steve's hoodie that had suspiciously gone missing the last time he'd been home.
The fact that Steve's first thought was how badly he wanted to pull him into a hug was not a good sign.
He checked names off the list as they filtered out the door and then called the car riders to line up. He went through the list and made sure everyone made it into the hall where they'd be called when their parent pulled up before turning back to Eddie.
He closed his door and made his way to his desk, ignoring the way Eddie awkwardly stood by one of the student desks in the front.
"What are you doing here?" Steve asked, signing off of his work email and organizing tomorrow's lesson plan.
"I needed to explain-"
"Right."
"That article wasn't supposed to come out yet."
Steve's jaw dropped. So he wasn't going to deny it, he was just gonna act like it was the media's fault for releasing it before he could talk to Steve.
"Yeah. So you decided to come break up with me in person because you got caught cheating instead of doing it over the phone right before the article hit online. Got it."
Steve was not going to cry about this. Not in front of Eddie.
He was going to go home, shower, try to eat something, and then he was going to cry for the next 10 hours.
"No, Steve, you don't understand."
"You're right, I don't. I don't understand how you could throw away a 10 year relationship for a model who doesn't even know your middle name. I don't understand how you can fly all the way here and interrupt my day at my job to try to explain to me why you were so cozy with a guy who doesn't even know that you like your hot chocolate with Bailey's instead of regular milk. I really don't understand how you couldn't even bother to text or call me one single time since the article to even try to explain anything." Steve wiped his eyes furiously, angry that his tears were betraying him. "I don't understand why you would expect me to care for reasons."
Eddie wordlessly picked Steve's phone up off the desk and powered it on. He set it down in front of Steve and waited.
Texts and calls and emails came through all at once, hundreds of notifications lighting up his screen.
Many of them from Eddie himself.
"Go ahead. Open them," Eddie didn't sound mad, he just sounded resigned.
So Steve read through the texts, many of them different renditions of 'please Steve, call me' and 'I love you sweetheart I'm sorry.' Not promising.
But then he started playing the voicemails.
"Stevie, it's really not what it looks like. It's never what it looks like. You know that. Please call me as soon as you can. I love you."
"I can explain everything if you call me back. I promise you it isn't anything more than a business thing. Everyone in the band can tell you. I swear. Just. Please."
"I'm getting on a flight to you now. I'm gonna keep trying to call you even when I land. I need you to know what's going on."
"Just landed. I'm on my way to you. The guys are a little pissed, but you're more important than the show tonight. I'm not doing my own thing until I know you understand."
Steve looked up at him, tears still falling down his face.
"Well?" He asked, broken.
"His name is Wyatt. He's trying to make it in the acting world and he was pretty much told he was the top choice for playing lead in a movie that's in early stages of development," Eddie spoke quickly.
"Great for him."
"It's actually great for all of us. The movie is a biopic of Corroded Coffin. He's expected to play me."
At any other time, Steve would be proud, he'd be jumping up and down at this chance for them, and he'd be kissing Eddie without a care in the world.
But he still saw that picture and that article, and no matter how much "business" was going on, it was pretty clear that wasn't all that was going on.
"So you thought sleeping with him would help him get into the role? Or did you just wanna get into him?" Steve bit back.
"The article was wrong! The picture was just really conveniently timed! You know the media are vultures, Stevie. How many times have they written about us breaking up? How many times have they said Gareth and I have secretly been married for the last two years? How many times have they tried to post shitty things about your relationship before me to prove that you can't possibly be queer?" Eddie pulled Steve to his feet and cupped his face in his hands. "I've been spending the last two weeks talking with him and the producer and the guys to see what might work best for production. They want us involved in as much of the writing and filming part as possible. And he had time in his schedule to come to a show last night, so we all took him out after so he could get a taste of what it's like for us. He's really excited for the role and all of us are really excited for the movie."
Steve felt stupid. Well, maybe not stupid. His feelings were valid and he wasn't dramatic about what he'd seen.
But he did feel a little shitty about doubting Eddie.
Eddie, who had literally flown across the country to explain in person so that there was no way Steve could misunderstand him. Eddie, who once Doordashed him soup from his favorite restaurant when he was sick even though he was in Europe. Eddie, who sent letters to the kids in his class once a month to talk about how important music is and following your dreams. Eddie, who loved him for ten years and wouldn't have let anyone get in the way of what they'd built.
Steve fell against Eddie, buried his face in his neck and his hands in his shirt. Eddie's arms wrapped around him, his voice saying something against his shoulder. Steve couldn’t hear him, but he didn’t think he needed to.
He just needed to feel him.
“I’m sorry,” Steve said against his neck. Tears soaked the hoodie under him, and Steve could feel tears against his own button down. “I shouldn’t have- I’m sorry.”
“It’s okay, sweetheart.” Eddie shook his head. “I’m sorry I didn’t tell you sooner. I wasn’t supposed to tell anyone until the article hit, but I was still gonna call you and warn you but I didn’t and I’m sorry.”
“It’s okay. This is part of the whole lifestyle. I should be used to it,” Steve shuddered as Eddie’s hand scratched at his scalp. “I should’ve reacted better.”
“We both didn’t treat this the way we should’ve.”
Steve snorted, nodded as he found the spot Eddie had tattooed on his neck a couple years earlier. He pressed his lips over the tattoo of his lip print.
“You flew across the country over this,” Steve pulled away and looked at Eddie, vision blurred from crying. “Just to make things okay.”
“I needed you to know. I needed to hold you. I needed to have you in front of me. And I wanted to celebrate the fact that we’re getting a movie about our lives,” Eddie smirked. “I wonder who will play you. Someone with a nice ass is a must. Their hair will have to defy gravity. Don’t know if they’ll find anyone with that smile, though.”
“Me? Why would they need anyone to play me?” Steve played with the string of the hoodie. “That might be kinda boring.”
“How would they make a movie about me and not include you? You’re the reason I ever made it past Hawkins, sweet thing,” Eddie leaned in to kiss his bottom lip. “Maybe they’ll just cast you. No one else could pull it off.”
“Eds-“ Steve blushed. “Wait. Okay, I trust you, but what were you doing in the picture?”
Eddie laughed. “He had just finished telling me about his boyfriend who lives in Italy. He’s apparently just a regular guy in finance who has no interest in the whole fame thing. Sound familiar?”
“Sounds like you two have a lot in common.”
“The picture was me asking if we could crash at their home in Italy next summer on our honeymoon,” Eddie said casually.
Steve froze. “Honeymoon?”
“I’m open to other places, but you still haven’t been to Italy and I know how much you wanted to see Rome and Florence,” Eddie was smirking.
That bastard.
“You are ridiculous, you know that? I’m over here planning how I’ll survive a breakup with you and you fly across the country to propose with a honeymoon planned before I’ve even said yes! You know how crazy that sounds, right?” Steve shook his head. “You’re lucky I love you. You’re lucky I’m not interested in big romantic gestures.”
“Damn. Hold on, let me make a call,” Eddie reached into his pocket for his phone.
“What?”
“I gotta cancel the big romantic gesture,” Eddie explained as he typed furiously on his phone.
“What the hell are you talking about?”
“It was a whole thing. Robin was involved. There may have been 500 flowers ordered. I think it’s too late to cancel the singing telegram though.”
“I genuinely can’t tell if you’re being serious,” Steve wouldn’t be surprised if at least some of that was true.
“Oh, I’m serious. The ring was being set on the bed in the middle of a heart made of rose petals. I didn’t half-ass a fucking thing, angel.”
Steve pulled his phone out of his hands and set it on his desk. “Don’t cancel anything. I changed my mind. I am very much into big romantic gestures when it’s you doing them.”
“It was a team effort. I mean, I had to move it all up unexpectedly, but this was all gonna happen next month when I came home." Eddie pulled Steve into a long kiss, tongue tracing his lips. He pulled away to rest their foreheads together. "I'm not doing this just because of what happened, but I need you to know you're it for me. You've stuck by me through failing senior year, through being broke trying to book gigs all over the midwest, through the stress of our first album being released and the unexpected overnight fame, every album and tour since then, every time I've had to miss things that matter to you because of the band, all of it. You love me anyway. I don't always deserve it, but I'm grateful."
Steve's lips pressed against Eddie's again. "I love the life we have. I love you."
"I'm not asking you without the ring. I made so many plans. Robin will murder me in my sleep if I don't go through with them," Eddie laughed. "So can we get out of your classroom before I do something inappropriate and get you fired?"
"I mean," Steve glanced at the clock. "Technically all the students should be gone. We could lock the door..."
"Steven Harrington! How dare you suggest I fuck you over your desk in a school! I can't believe you would tell me to unbutton your jeans," he said as he unbuttoned his jeans. "And get on my knees." He got on his knees. "And suck you until you can't stand anymore."
"Eddie!" Steve chuckled, shoving his hand in Eddie's hair. "We should at least lock the door."
"So you're not saying no?"
"Why would I say no?"
"That's what I'm saying!" Eddie got back up and ran to the door, flipping the lock and turning back to Steve with flushed cheeks. "This is like, maybe three of my biggest fantasies in one, so I may actually come in my pants."
"You're ridiculous."
"Baby boy, my hand is my only friend on tour, you know that. How can I possibly hold myself back when I've got your dick in my mouth?" Eddie dropped to his knees again, looking up at Steve with something close to reverence.
"It's not in your mouth yet," Steve smirked as he tugged his waistband down enough to free his cock.
"Oh, I missed you," Eddie said directly to Steve's hard cock. "Steve, I want you to fuck my mouth until I pass out."
"I'm not doing that."
"Okay, well I'll settle for until I have to tap out."
"Fine. But it's not gonna be long for me," Steve shook his head. "Missed you, too."
"The sooner the better, sweetheart."

Ok so listen to me. LISTEN to me.
Wilbur Soot. Alright. He's a guy, sure. Perhaps even One of the Guys of All Time. A pathetic little meow meow, if you will.
He blew up a country. He has some sort of weird, love-hate relationship with one of the events in MCC. He likes to play god. He even wore a trench coat and got a white streak in his hair.
But I need you to listen to me when I say this man has NOTHING on Joe Hills when it comes to being a tumblr sexyman.
He called the infinite void of space a mirror that really captured his essence. He built a model of the Evergiven in a canel that actually blocked commerce on the server. He is the man who conquered death.
He had the RANGE.
When half the server was campaigning to be in charge, rather than also running for mayor, he created a problem (dogs everywhere), invented a role that would solve that problem (dog catcher), ran for that role (much to the confusion of almost everyone else), and won. And then had to actually deal with the hundreds of dogs he'd created. Wilbur Soot, DEMONSTRABLY, could never.
If you need any more convincing, I would like you to consider this.
Wilbur Soot and Ozymandias. That's a thing, right? A beautiful legacy fallen to ruin.
Well, you might not have seen it, but inspired by that is a Joe Hills version. And what kingdom is the muse of this one? Some great, terrible empire? Some long forgotten labor of love?
Well. In a sense, I suppose.
This is inspired by a glitch that he found that caused a truly unbelievable amount of tropical fish to non-stop shoot out of a bubble column and then flop around until they died.
It's so stupid. He and Cleo both made hour long "beats/fish noises to relax/study to" videos on it.
And is the most dramatic and serious art inspired by the most absurd and ridiculous things not the very ESSENCE of a tumblr sexyman?
Vote Joe Hills. He didn't make ominous statements in a swimming pool and bribe people for votes on tumblr to NOT win this.

More Nonsense from My Ambrosius Stan Account Post:
As someone who got on Tumblr a couple years ago not really knowing the culture and rarely posts because I don't think anyone cares about the silly worms in my brain I'd like to give everyone who thought it was funny and left a like or a tag or a reblog a very I Love You and here is some more thoughts about it I had through the day that I thought nobody would care about but am posting now
The account was named @gold_loin_love and gained notoriety for being the only stan account Ambrosius actually followed
During the live stream Ballister answered the questions (that he had his followers submit beforehand) while still in character, despite the fact that he was laughing his ass off and Ambrosius was with him.
Example: "'Do you think Ballister and Ambrosius are going to get divorced?' Absolutely. They're terrible together and honestly not even cute. They probably had some cringy beach wedding with their weird pink child officiating. Ew, next question"
Ambrosius would frequently interject
"Do I think Ambrosius was toxic for cutting off Ballister's arm?"
Ambrosius, stealing the phone: "Yes he needs to be cancelled immediately."
Ballister, taking it back: "Wrong that weird creep deserved it to be honest"
He read a couple questions that were defending him and after giving them his joke answer about how they were wrong, thanked them sincerely
(sad time) The first thing he posted after the events of the movie, during which he obviously wasn't posting although how fucking funny would it have been to be Ambrosius and see Ballister's fake stan account post "lol get his ass I hope he died" over footage of him MAIMING HIM in light of all that was happening was "I'm sorry that I've been gone, the death of the Queen really took a toll on me, she was a real role model and inspiration of mine. I'm especially sorry to Ambrosius. I wish I hadn't run away. I wish I'd been there for you through all this, I know it must have been so hard. I really hope everyone forgives him."
(sad time over, silliness resumed) He'd use the account to make fun of Ambrosius and himself in every capacity imaginable
"Check out what Ambrosius wore to the national conference, I love how it's so shiny you can't tell how busy and incongruent the patterns are 😍 we love a maximalist king!!!"
"Ballister Ballhard surprises nobody wearing armor he got at the emo booth of a Renaissance Fair."
There is so much potential for this and I'd love to see more of Ballister being a silly goofball

realizing that since fox is old as balls hes gotta keel over some time
realizing old and new friends would come to the funeral
derek would stay at the grave the longest. i like to think hed grown up around fox, almost seeing him like a second father or a (terrible) role model. hed refuse to leave until someone woke him up (did he cry himself to sleep? he never cries, ever...) and drove him home
celia would be holding derek and anyone else who needed it during the burial (mostly derek, poor guy would be SOBBING) while struggling and failing to contain her own broken sobs. that was her best friend, her closest confidant, and now hes gone...
mason... he'd be more of a silent mourner. But the shakey yet controlled breaths would be a sign to anyone that, despite not knowing fox as well as the others, still cared for him
and old friends? well, more like old aquaintences.
Rire would come to collect his payment for Ren's freedom. Nothing more. He never was interested in seeing just how long the one who got away could last...
Even the Lich would mourn, in the way it might, from its lake. It wasn't much able to, in life or in death, but even the 'friend' who finally managed to free it from life would hold a place in its decayed heart.
And the one who set it all in motion wouldn't know how to feel.
"Why give up now...?"
Ren didn't mean to give up. He was always the most persistent one. He just... couldn't hold on anymore.

Back to this post I made a while back
Spoilers under the cut for quests 2.0 through 3.0 (aka: Inazuma and Sumeru)
I wanted to point out the hypocrisy between how the game treated Scaramouche vs Ei
Starting with both of their crimes/behaviors
Ei
Abandoned her people
Allowed a war
Allowed for the Fatui to influence her nation (knowingly)
Let her puppet take away what willingly belonged to her people
Killed her people
Oppressed her people
Isolating her country
Etc.
Scaramouche
Arson
Murder
Genocide
Homicide
Attempted coup
Terrorism
Smuggling
etc.
Obviously they've both done terrible things, Scaramouche's being based almost entirely on murder and genocide while Ei was based mostly on negligence (knowingly committing negligence when in a position of power too).
But the issue I have is how the Traveler (and subsequentially, the game) treats them after revealing their resonings.
First, the reasoning
Ei
Loss of family
Depression
Grief
Poor mental state
Loss of friends
Scaramouche
Loss of family
Depression
Grief
Poor mental state
Loss of friends
Abandonment
As you can see, they both have fundamentally the same reasonings, while Scaramouche's poor actions mostly came from having a lack of understanding of how the world of humans work as well as poor role models....
...which stem from Ei's neglegence.
When confronted by the Traveler, Ei admits what she is feeling (even after knowingly trying to murder the traveler two times), she gets a meager slap on the wrist and a "don't do it again" seeing as how she has yet to actually apologize. I stopped playing in 4.0 so this could have changed.
Even after admitting to her faults and promising not to abandon her people, she does it again, and is not reprimanded. She never learned from her mistakes, never apologizes, and is even buddy-buddy with the traveler and is seen as a respectable figure despite her crimes.
Compare this to Scaramouche who is offered a job from Nahida, and is still treated as a criminal. This is understandable and he should be considering his previous actions. But when Traveler and Paimon find out why he did what he did, he is still met with hostility.
This never happened to Ei.
Only Scaramouche.
The only person who showed him any kind of sympathy was Nahida, probably because she understood what he went through.
Scaramouche even tries to amend his mistakes upon realizing them, albeit in a very self-destructive manner.
Ei never does. Sure, she repeals the Sakoku decree, but she never apologizes for stealing her people's visions, or for attacking anyone who went against the Shogun's orders, or disappearing, or for allowing a war, or for anything.
Scaramouche tried to erase himself, believing it would bring back the people he'd hurt. He shows more remorse in his actions then she does. And when his memories are returned, he says that he plans to tell Kazuha what happened, that Kazuha has a right to know.
Both committed terrible acts based on their feelings of abandonment, grief, and loss.
Only Scaramouche made any attempt to undo his mistakes and went out of his way to try and apologize.
Ei did not.
Tagging: @l4r1n3 and @stupidheadwisp because y'all asked. Enjoy the food.

Another one for the ask(I hope you dont mind) 26: What do you think of Akashi's parents and their relationship
omg i don't mind at all. anyone can ask me about akashi anytime and i will respond in an extremely normal way. sorry for being so late.
from this
naturally, i think it's complicated with both parents, which is expected. for his father - i think what i want to say has already been said before but a lot of the burden may be generational, since akashi was born into a wealthy family. he doesn't really get to be a son as much as a bearer of his family's legacy but then it's also his dad's fault for not being a father. i'd think it's complicated for both of them but i don't like dwelling a lot on his dad. it's simple - like every other adult in akashi's life, his father has failed him but the worst part is that his father was the first of many to do so.
i'd say it's very likely that akashi is torn between acknowledging the way his father treated him was terrible and wanting to believe that his father was acting out of his best interests. your parents are generally the first role models you have in your life, they're the first people you believe in to care for you and protect you and keep you safe.
unfortunately, parents are not gods and they're not heroes either and i think akashi had to learn it the hard way by first learning his parents are mortal (after his mother died) and that there's nothing heroic about them (considering the way his father raised him). that's also another reason he split in two - he wants to be his mother's son but he also has to be his father's son to survive in the house. i think in terms of world views and self-perception, that's where oreshi and bokushi differ in particular. oreshi acknowledges that the adults in his life have failed him and that his dad is not much of a dad and no matter how badly he needs his mother, she'll never be here for him the way she was but bokushi desperately wants to deny the circumstances because of his crippling fear of abandonment and aversion to vulnerability - acknowledging his father was terrible to him means acknowledging that he was damaged in any way, which cycles back to his belief that any kind of weakness is unacceptable and he overcompensates by creating a grandiose image. his desire for control also means that he fiercely believes that what happened to him could have been rectified if he'd simply done a better job of being a son.
that's why the conversation in the headspace struck me as genius because oreshi acknowledges that bokushi was born from a place of fear and weakness. bokushi is just a scared little boy who refuses to look his fear in the eyes (quite literally, might i add, with the 'lower your head'), oreshi is the boy who acknowledges that his circumstances were terrible but he can choose not to be defined by them, and the only way to do that is to accept that they've done their damage.
parent-child relationships are very difficult to explain but essentially, akashi loves his dad but not all of the time and even if he loves his dad, he'll never be able to trust him. yes those things are separate.
i don't think there's much to say about his dad. he probably just believes what he thinks is best for his son is irrefutable fact and that it should pass. he was a terrible parent but from my understanding, he wasn't intentionally so. which is unfortunately the case for a lot of abusive dynamics. plus, from what i gather, akashi's parents didn't seem to have a unified parenting approach - his father exercised his will and his mother stood between the two of them to protect akashi as best as she could. maybe between husband and wife, it would have been different because i think akashi's father also crumbled after her death but their doctrine of self-sufficiency and invincibility kept father and son from supporting each other through it, which ultimately made things worse.
akashi was still really young when she passed and i believe he loved her but after her passing, before he'd processed anything, it is possible he could have resented her for not continuing to protect him. simply because his kid brain couldn't understand the permanence of her death. he'd miss her, resent her for going, resent himself for thinking ill of her, feel ashamed, and then overcompensate by working hard to meet his father's wishes and internalise this as "it's just the way it is." (love my characters who are so deeply embedded in their own cycle of grief and shame that separating from it means having to reconstruct their whole identity from the ground-up! no wonder bokushi is terrified and acting out the way he does! i would too!)
at least that's what i think. but what do i know. i don't like thinking about it though. akashi is my son now for all i care

seeing all these posts in canon jc tag saying how jc did better than madam yu ... pretty sure madam yu never hit jc (did she? if im wrong tell me xd but still he'd be the same if she did cuz he hits jin ling in anger multiple times), or expose him to herself torturing innocent people to death so much that jc would be used to smuggling them out... yea jin ling and his relationship turned out better no thanks to him tho, jin ling got lucky to be more jin than jiang tbh cuz majority of his time would be at the sect he's heir of and jc does love jin ling unconditionally but madam yu in all her abusive glory also loved jc unconditionally, like jc was willing to die for jin ling, madam yu was willing to die for him too, that aint undoing the harm the two adults ended up doing to the two kids in the scenario at least in the emotional sense, and aint no way ppl are saying hes doing better than her, hes at least on the same level in lack of affection cuz jin ling was so unused to being even hugged or how to handle a hug the barest of affections jin ling turned out better and grew purely on his own effort coz jc sure wasnt setting any positive examples for him-
It seems to be implied that Madam Yu herself has no issue getting physically harsh with either of her own children as well,
1:
Madam Yu sent a look at Jiang Cheng. “Horsing around again? Come, let me have a look at you.”
Jiang Cheng scurried over, and Madam Yu squeezed his arm with her slender fingers before giving him a sound slap on the shoulder.
"Not a bit of progress in your cultivation. You’re almost seventeen and still acting like an ignorant child! Running around with this lot, doing mischief all day—do you think you’re the same as them? Hell knows which gutters they’ll be crawling in in the future, but you’ll be the leader of the Jiang Clan!”
Jiang Cheng staggered from the force of her slap. He hung his head, not daring to argue back.
2:
"Sorry!” said Wei Wuxian loudly. “I didn’t know shijie would come! I’ll go look for my clothes right now!”
Madam Yu was even more incensed. “You dare run from me?! Get the hell back here and kneel!”
As she spoke, she cracked her whip. A searing pain spread down Wei Wuxian’s back.
"Yowch!” he exclaimed aloud. The pain was so intense it almost sent him rolling on the ground.
Just then, Madam Yu heard a soft voice ask, “Mom, do you want some watermelon…?”
Jiang Yanli’s sudden appearance startled Madam Yu. With this delay, the group of little brats had vanished without a trace. Madam Yu was so infuriated she turned to pinch Jiang Yanli’s cheeks.
Eat, eat, eat. That’s all you know!”
The pinch made Jiang Yanli’s eyes water. Vaguely, she said, “Mom. A-Xian and the rest were hiding here to cool off. I came looking for them on my own, so don’t blame them… Do…do you want some watermelons…? I don’t know who sent them over, but they’re very sweet. Eating watermelon in summer can relieve the heat and quench your fire. They’re sweet and juicy. I’ll slice some for you…”
Violence seems to be an unfortunate overarching theme regarding the Jiang Family and how they exhibit any emotional behavior. Madam Yu each time she is on page is the main instigator of physical punishments and pain out of anger, Jiang Cheng seeing her as his own role model follows this same pattern with Jin Ling. The above passage of Madam Yu'a introduction as a parental figure and Jiang Cheng is terribly similar to what we get for Jiang Cheng's introduction as Jin Ling's uncle and a caretaker,
"Since Hanguang-jun wants to punish you, take the lesson this once. It’s not easy for him, either, to manage the juniors from another clan.”
His tone was sarcastic, but it was unclear to whom it was directed. Lan Wangji, who never responded to such provocation, ignored him.
Jiang Cheng turned, his voice scathing. “What are you standing around for? Waiting for the prey to run into your sword itself? If you can’t catch the creature here on Mount Dafan tonight, then you needn’t come to me again in the future!"
And to answer the main point of your ask, no, Jiang Cheng is not any better towards Jin Ling and how he treats him. He treats him exactly as Madam Yu did with Jiang Cheng. With cruel ever changing expectations that were too high for a child to ever be reasonably expected to achieve without help or the care that should have been exhibited to raise a confident child. Jiang Cheng took the role of his mother in all ways and superimposed his life onto Jin Ling as well. Generational trauma is not always easy to of course pick up when you have grown within that environment. Yes you may know something is not "normal" as you interact with others but it's hard to name or describe why. Jiang Cheng thought of his mother respectfully despite her own many flaws, generational deference is difficult to question when that is all you have known until you are in a better environment to explore and comfortably learn despite being less than grand in execution. Jiang Cheng did not get that chance in life, but he does finally let Jin Ling have that as Jin Ling seeks out Wei Wuxian and Lan Wangji for nighthunts to learn from.
Unconditional love isn't always a saving grace, and that is an unfortunate reality of life that not all love is always good or healthy despite how very much you love them or each other. Unconditional love can be selfish cruel and hurtful in the ways that people choose to express it when they don't want to be better for their loved ones. The play of trauma and victim blaming is terrible when you are both the abuser and victim and continue that cycle.
The only thing that Jiang Cheng "did better" than Madam Yu, was living to let go of his hates and insecurities enough to stop imposing them on to Jin Ling as well so the child could grow better and with actual role models that encourage a nurturing non-mocking environment first and foremost.

people trying to push the idea of Eggman actually being really progressive and role model in various ways and using the "the Heroes manual says he's a feminist so he drinks respect women juice everyday" thing is hugely inaccurate for his character
the original JP version of the Heroes manual doesn't say he's a feminist or a womanizer. so the feminist thing in the English manual not only comes out of nowhere but also doesn't make sense because it isn't in the games, in fact they've shown the drastic opposite
he perpetuates the damsel in distress stereotype by how he primarily kidnaps girls and holds them hostage. Amy, Cream/Vanilla, Elise (sometimes he shows mocking sarcastic politeness/gentlemanliness too, which I've been meaning to highlight in future analysis)
he's sexist in Rush, telling Blaze that he didn't think girls could be tough
they chose Eggman to be King Shahryar in Secret Rings who in the actual Arabian Nights was so misogynistic that he'd have a woman executed every night. choosing the main villain to be him and his past record makes me think they knew what they were doing
and yeah this makes him a horrible person but this is Eggman we're talking about. he's supposed to have bad unlikable traits to establish that he's the enemy and give players the drive to beat him. it's the whole point
but Eggman doesn't treat men any better either so you could say at least he's equal in his cruelty towards them I guess? but that certainly doesn't make him a good role model that we should all follow XD he's not for anyone's rights except his own rights to rule the world and control everyone else :P
it's because Eggman only cares about himself and sees himself as superior to absolutely everyone. he's an evil cruel piece of shit bastard no matter who you are because he's rude and condescending and looks down on everyone. nobody is above the other or more or less worthy of respect to him
and if you get in his way he won't hold back no matter if you're a man, woman, or child as he's even willing to kill Tails and Cream and expressed pleasure in doing so. he has no morals or standards that make him hold back or treat anyone better than the other but he treats everyone terribly and it's just as bad, in fact he's just hurting more people

Hi! I read your oneshot involving Micah and fem child reader and absolutely loved it! I never thought i could see Micah ever taking on the role of a parental figure but you did such a good job tying his character into a role that i thought would never fit him! I was wondering if you could expand more on their dynamic afterwards and how reader would interpret his ‘cull the weak beliefs’ do you think teaching her these would ever come to backfire on him later especially if used against him?
Micah Bell and Fem! Child Reader Pt2: Knives Out
Tumblr media
Warnings: incredibly angsty, Micah Bell, you're gonna hate this if u love Micah LOL, lots of murder, terrible beliefs, graphic description of murder, and child death.
tldr: Micah Bell's teachings came to bite him back in the ass. :( Nobody close to him can be happy.
A/n: Hi, Anon! Thank you for the req ♡♡♡ I'm so glad you liked my last fic! I hope you like this one, too. Feel free to send any more requests you might have :p
Listen while you read?:
Today was your third month of 'bonding,' as Micah liked to call it. You'd slowly progressed from being as terrible of a shot as Sean Macguire to being fairly good at your shots. Of course, you weren't as good as Micah, but he congratulated you on your significant progress. Unlike the others, Micah has been surprisingly patient with you. There were a lot of things he had to teach and show you, and you seemed to learn best when you were in the middle of action.
Not only had you become a better shot, but you'd also become a more malleable tool. When you finished your first robbery, Micah decided that from now on you weren't going by your old name. The Bell family had a very specific practice they used when choosing names. For the first time in a long time, he flipped open a Bible and scoured its pages for a suitable name. Eventually, he settled on Elisabeth, the technical grandmother of Jesus. Not because she was a humble or remarkable woman, but because she was stubbornly faithful. Like a dog.
He hoped that, since he'd earned your trust, you'd follow him like a dog to the ends of the earth. And that you did. No matter what he did, where he went, or who he killed, he stayed as your role model. Beyond that, he was also your new father figure. Sure, you liked Dutch and Hosea, but they never saw things from your point of view like Micah did. The Dutch, for one, insisted on the dramatics constantly. He'd make up schemes to entertain himself and some big wig bastard, then steal the money. Which probably would've entertained you if you had the patience. And Hosea, well, he didn't enjoy the 'thrill' of murdering and robbing the same way that you did. Meaning that he liked making a fool of himself and then leaving with a small sum of money.
Not to mention that Micah secretly found both of them to be fools in their own ways. You thought, at first, that he saw you as a fool too, but he assured you that you were anything but. He called you his 'kinfolk.' His kid. You found it odd. He claims to be so strong, yet he practically creates his own weakness. With this idea in mind, you began to dissect some of his flaws.
When the two of you were in camp, you noticed that he was anything but pleasant to the other members. He often harassed and berated many of the women in camp, too, which you found odd. Even odder was the fact that he berated Jack, which made you curious. Was he perhaps jealous of John and Abigail for their achievements? It seemed so. You guessed that he was jealous because he too wanted a family, no matter how dysfunctional. Though he hadn't had much luck considering that, like the stupid man he is, he took his anger out on all the women around him.
Micah Bell could never score a woman, and he knew that very well. And now, so did you. And all you had to do was watch him like you normally do. Every time you did, he'd lean over and whisper in your ear about how someday he's going to get a nice and fine wife, and these floozies are going to be sorry. You knew better. Every time he'd provide some weird back-handed compliment, you wondered if he knew it only made him look weak. He had all bark and no bite. Which, in many cases, he did. All talk until Dutch struts over, then suddenly he's acting like he's a holy deity sworn to do nothing but good.
That was one major weakness you'd noticed about him. His one big fault. Micah seemed to assume that being a snake oil salesman made him a man. A man fit for survival in the natural world. A man who could do whatever he wanted and whenever he wanted as long as he still had his silver tongue. And it did, for a little while. He could go around murdering families and sleep like a little baby the night after. That is, until he met you.
See, Micah Bell had done himself dirty when he began 'training' you. Because, unlike Micah, you shut your mouth, and you watched everyone really well. You waited for someone to come to you, and you didn't, no matter how tough it was to resist, let your guard down. Yet Micah Bell had shown his since the day he decided to mentor you. Sure, you were unaware of the impact of his actions then, but he'd taught you well. He'd gifted you a higher consciousness without even knowing it.
So, after three long months of needlessly long interaction, you put his teachings to work. You woke up bright and early to listen to the birds chirp their jovial toons. It was nice to let the weak be, just for a moment, because sometimes they end up surprising you with their entertainment. Your steel gaze turned to Micah, who was fast asleep on his bedroll, facing the cliffside. He, too, was nice when you left him be. When he did sleep, it looked peaceful. And, for a moment, you decided to let him be, too.
You grabbed your satchel, one that Micah had bought for you, and opened it. From it, you produced a jagged stone that you'd found back in Strawberry, after the pair of you (and Arthur) murdered an entire town. You originally picked it up in order to execute whoever was holding Micah's precious revolvers, but he beat you to it. And, with savagery and cowardice, he murdered another family right in front of you. It was eerily thrilling when you first experienced it, but now? Now you feel nothing but guilt. Not for the town you'd helped murder, but for Micah.
You looked down at him, staring at his greasy forehead. As you lifted your stone, you teared up as you remembered all the times that he'd slipped up. A terrible feeling sank into your chest as you thought about your first robbery. How he wiped your tears away after you'd committed your first murder and rubbed your back like the father you never had. You'd given him your weakness, and he accepted it with unknowing tenacity. From then on, you gave him your weakness, and he allowed you to piggyback off of him like a little parasite.
For such a morally corrupt man, Micah had always done his best to assure your safety, no matter what. When the two of you were low on rations, he let you have the last. When the gang was ambushed, he made sure you were never there. When the two of you were caught in a rock and a hard place, he always made you run back to camp while he distracted the bastards following you. It's your fault that he turned into something he never wanted to be.
It's your fault that he became so weak.
Your brows furrowed, and your face twisted into anguish. You lifted the stone up above your head and, with all your might, sent it crashing down upon his skull. It made a sickening crunch, like a pumpkin being dropped, but Micah did not move. You repeated the action over and over again until his head finally caved in. Once you were done, you walked over to your horse, one that he had gifted you, and shot her, too. Baylock was smart enough to run off.
From then on, you decided that, out of the four of you, Baylock would be the strongest. He was the survivor because he ran like hell instead of sticking around to die. Finally, you walked back to the cliffside and erased the last remaining proof of Elisabeth Bell's entire existence.
Tumblr media
A/N: i hope people like this :p i know child death is a very sensitive topic, but I think that this is how it would go in the eyes of a child. I tried to make it a little confusing so that we could really understand how uniquely this kind of situation would affect someone as vulnerable as a child versus an adult.

If I start talking about trauma in MDZS I might never stop. What's most beautiful to me is that the way each character reacts to the same situation is different. It is unique to their personality and it's a little beautiful.
Mengyao and Xue Yang weaponizing their trauma and turning it into a sword to take down anything that stands in their way.
Xingchen unfortunately internalising his trauma, blaming himself and taking responsibility for whatever he believes he's caused.
Song Lan actually goes out and tries to resolve his trauma which was nice and healthy, until everyone died of course.
Jiang Cheng turning his trauma into rage because admitting the pain and loneliness hurts too much.
Wei Ying amazingly does that thing that children do where they forget terrible memories to protect their fragile minds and hearts. This dude thinks all the things he's gone through is just everyday living. He is not at all phased by it. What he does remember, interestingly, is now the stuff that happened when he was a kid. He's still terrified by dogs till this day, no matter how strong he becomes, it means nothing against that one memory of being chased and bitten by them as a child.
Lan Zhan turned his trauma into self harm and denial. Yes, self harm and no one takes this seriously enough. He trekked a barren mountain with multiple whip wounds searching for someone who everyone had watched die. He BRANDED his own chest. Lan Zhan's trauma is slept on.
Xichen also ignores his trauma. His brain doesn't protect him, he just pretends he can't see it. It piles and piles and piles and finally everything just shattered. Can't even blame Xichen for breaking down, he'd been playing therapist for too many people for way too long.
Mingjue turned his trauma into strength which I think was pretty bad ass of him. 🔥 Became a one man army. Too bad he's also brutally honest to a fault.
Huaisang also turned his trauma into 'strength'. More like a deadly weapon of mass destruction.
Wen Ning. Sigh. I don't even know where to start because I haven't started dissecting his sad ass story. They killed his sister right in front of him. Right in front of baby. He never did a single thing wrong. The world is cruel.
Jin Ling took a page out of his Uncle's book and turned his pain to rage.
Sizhui was a child when shit went down so fortunately for him, he doesn't remember most of it.
Yanli sets aside her pain and just takes care of her family. It cost her.
Zixuan never had much trauma to begin with, unless we count being bullied by Wei Ying. 😂 That boy was smacking him anyhow.
Not sure if I'm missing anyone. Su She was just bitter. Maybe he had trauma, maybe I don't care cause I don't like him. How can anyone hate on the Lan brothers cause they were born heirs? They didn't ask for that life. Sour cockroach.
Back on Zixuan, having a prostitute father should count for some kind of trauma. It's absolutely disgusting to have a role model that shameless. He refused all pages from his father's book and swore to be nothing like him. It was cute, and sad. Sad that he still ended up paying for father's sins.
"I didn't mean to kill Zixuan. I just wanted him to suffer a little."
F you for that statement Mengyao. I love you, but F you.

ahem. After some deep introspection, I have decided it is long past time to share the details of my absolutely horrid pjo au. Long post, I apologize, but I've been dramatically playing sudoku while plotting this out for far too long and the world simply must know every terrible thought I've been thinking. I start by giving all their godly parents then I just list off awesome little headcanons/scenes. there's no plot. it changes daily, depending on my sudoku game.
Godly parents:
Jeremy Heere - Apollo. I've seen a lot of content of him as a son of Demeter and honestly, half of me agrees with you. But when I put him into the actual plot, he always ends up playing the role of an Apollo kid. His social anxiety means he prefers fighting from a distance (archery) and I always imagined him as the healer of the group. Not in a metaphorical or emotional sense (that's Brooke), just that Jeremy can find his friends after the battle and help them. This also fits with my personal headcanon that Jake and Jeremy dislike each other---of course they do, Jeremy needs Jake to trust him in order to properly treat him, and Jake hates that this acquaintance expects Jake to trust him.
Michael Mell - Hades. He's interested in 'dead' trends. Ha, get it? Right? No, but also the fact he's a loser and has just come to accept it. People won't let him into their groups no matter how sweet he is because there's something about him that just doesn't fit in, and that's the fact he will gladly tread on the edge of death. He controls it. (the dead trends is the main thing tho ngl)
Christine Canigula - Poseidon. I know technically Dionysus makes more sense, but despite what many may think, I actually associate her more with the ocean than I do anyone else. She's dramatic, she's breathtaking. She can destroy you if she so pleases, but by god she doesn't want to. She's gentle and blue and beautiful. Most importantly, though, she reflects. She reflects the stars in the night sky like she reflects Ophelia's sadness. She reflects the adrenaline rush a surfer desires just as she reflects the desperation and adventurous youth in Juliet.
Rich Goranski - Zeus. Two reasons: Instinctively my brain went to Ares and Hephaestus, but no. Absolutely not. Hephaestus is an absolute no because Rich is not the fire Rich is not the fire Rich is not the fire. Ares is a bit more questionable because, in the pjo world, Ares is pure anger and spite and ego and his kids tend to reflect the same personality traits and god, Rich already does that in the canon world. It's implied his father is abusive and you know what? This is an au. I'm still giving him a shitty father but I am not giving him Ares, the god of War. I chose Zeus because a) plot. His being able to fly is incredibly important to many, many scenes in this mental fic and b) I like the idea of him holding the aura of a king. Not necessarily a leader, that's Jake, but he can walk with a self-entitlement that drives you to trust him even as he's rash and dangerous. His feelings are lightning bolt strong; quick, breathtaking, deadly, flashy. Storms follow him when he's sad and thunder roars when he's angry. He doesn't crave violence in the way a kid of Ares would, but he often ends up causing it anyway.
Jake Dillinger - Aphrodite. This one's always been obvious to me. Jake's main thing is charm---I mean, Model UN, talking his way into a relationship with Christine. He's well-liked and hot. His parents being criminals in the canon world means he's probably accustomed to lying and twisting others' words against them. AKA, he talks and seduces so no one will see his flaws or insecurities, just as any kid of Aphrodite learns to do. Also I did give him charm speak and I took away the whole thing about needing to be attracted to him for it to work because Jake's got that kind of charm where adults like him too much (not in a sexual way, I mean in a he's just so easy to deal with kind of way) and I feel like he'd just make it work on anyone. (also you'll see why Chloe isn't the kid of Aphrodite in a moment)
Chloe Valentine - Unclaimed. I already posted about this a while ago. She already grew up insecure but loud. Then she got to camp and paraded around the fact she was probably a kid of Aphrodite or Zeus for weeks. No one claimed her. She stayed in the Hermes cabin even as she integrated herself into the Aphrodite crowd, painting herself to be beautiful and snarky until people began to forget she was just an unwanted kid. She lashes out to hide it, sure, but it's mostly because she feels so isolated and alone, and she's convinced that if she screams loud enough, bites hard enough, that her victims will feel the same terrible loneliness she does. Realistically, she's probably a child of Hecate.
Brooke Lohst - Athena. I think it's probably the blonde thing, but I'm going to pretend it's not. I've always imagined her as so introspective and deep. You can look at her and just know there's so much more going on underneath the surface. She knows you and she knows herself more than you could ever hope to. People often forget how smart she is because, for starters, she's always overshadowed by Chloe. Mostly, though, it's because she's so soft. She lacks the pride of most Athena kids. She'll smile like sunlight and laugh like wind chimes and flit from place to place like a breeze-blown cherry blossom dancing to the ground. Her? A strategist? A warrior? It doesn't make sense until you hurt someone she loves. She honed that sweetness. She fought for it. She bled to make sure her friends experienced that gentle kind of love and if you take that from them she will trick you into tearing yourself limb from limb and she will smile as you do it.
Jenna Rolan - Hermes. Duh. She's a messenger, she's a traveler. Important note about travelers, though, is that the second they leave, their existence is usually forgotten. She walks into a room, declares her purpose and her message, and the second she steps out it's as if she was never there. Is it because she's fast? Because she never tells details about herself, only others? You don't know. She doesn't know---no mater how many nights she overthinks it and questions it, she doesn't understand why she's nothing but a shadow to everyone else.
Favorite Headcanons:
the main reason Rich is a son of Zeus is because I have a very clear image in my head of the eight of them on the Argo II or this au's version of it and the scene starts with Jake just barreling down a hallway and onto the main deck screaming his ass off and Jeremy's chasing after him, red-faced and angrier than anyone has ever seen him and Jake yells Rich's name and then just. Jumps off the ship and into the clouds. Ofc Rich like summons a cloud to catch him, and in the distance you can hear Jeremy, who just found out Jake hooked up with Michael their second night on the ship, "YOU CAN'T HAVE THEM BOTH. NO. IT'S NOT FAIR. ONE OR THE FUCKING OTHER. YOU CANNOT HAVE EVERY SINGLE PERSON I LIKE JAKE WHY????"
Oftentimes being a demigod comes with trusting only yourself, which means Jeremy has to work hard to get any of his patients to really come to him when they're injured and in this world, everyone was kind of separated before into groups (either two or three) and jake and rich were together so there's obviously a level of trust between them Jeremy simply can't get between, and at one point Chloe gets injured and Brooke tries to take care of her (stealing medical supplies from Jeremy) but, despite being smart, she's not a medic, and at it's the middle of the night and Brooke shows up at Jeremy's room with a half-unconscious Chloe in her arms begging for help and of course, Jeremy provides it, but then he just. Goes fucking off on Brooke. And it's so important because Jeremy is quiet and anxious, but "I am the medic here. I can take care of him. No, no, it's not just that I can. It's an obligation. it's my fucking job, Rich. That is all I can bring to this team. I'm a fucking coward. I would rather die than put myself into a battle, so it's my fucking job to pick up the pieces when you all come back bruised and battered, and you stole that from me. You took all I had left. If she dies, that's on me. Only me. It doesn't matter if he was in your care or someone else's, it's my job." Anywho, after that they routinely check up on Jeremy to make sure he's mentally okay.
Everyone capitalizes on Christine's ability to talk to fish just because it's so entertaining. They're in the middle of a quest but they're all so exhausted they stop at an aquarium and spend six hours sitting in front of a single tank of lame fish while Christine acts out the conversations between them and they're all deliriously relieved to be there.
Jake, Brooke, and Rich are the most dangerous team to go up against. Brooke can think of the right plan, the right words for Jake to say, and Jake can say her words to charm speak their enemy into destroying themselves. And Rich is there to physically support them both---Jake can always jump slightly too high because the wind is on his side and Brooke is slightly faster than her opponents because, for some reason, air resistance doesn't apply to her.
I noted earlier that they were all separated into small groups at the beginning and were forcibly united for their quest. Jenna was the only one of them alone, and Christine and Brooke both work so hard to eventually make her feel welcome on the ship with everyone else
So Jake is a child of Aphrodite, right? at one point there's a mini-quest they have to go on and the group decides it's smartest for Michael, Jake, and Jeremy to go. Jake immediately turns to Chloe with puppy dog eyes like "PLEASE, CHLOE, PLEASE TAKE MY PLACE" and she's like dude. no. no one likes being alone with them, it's barely even third wheeling. they make you feel like you aren't even a wheel. and Jake's like "YOU THINK IT'S BAD FOR YOU?? I'M A CHILD OF APHRODITE, CHLOE, I CAN PHYSICALLY FEEL THE PINING BETWEEN THEM" and that's how Chloe is convinced to go on a quest alone with Jeremy and Michael. It's miserable.
Jake won't charm speak his friends, which is why he had to actually convince Chloe to go on that quest. The reason why is so sad and traumatic I'm not going to add it to this post because most of these headcanons have been relatively amusing, but it's bad enough that on some days he's selectively mute (that's the right term, right?) just in case he accidentally charm speaks one of them. He and Rich can communicate in rudimentary sign language.
Rich is most skilled at fist fighting. Like yeah, he could use a sword or knife, but he's super super dangerous just with his fists.
And finally, because it's 11:15 and I have a test tomorrow: Brooke had a crush on Christine for the longest time and I have a very clear image in my head of them hanging out together under the argo II on the ocean under the stars and Brooke hesitantly confesses her feelings and Christine rejects her because she's ace and heteroromantic but she still hugs Brooke and is the sweetest person ever about it. She checks up on Brooke, lets Brooke set all the boundaries between them, and eventually, after a month or so, Brooke has to be like "Christine, I'm okay. I had a crush on you, I wasn't in love. You can stop now." and Christine is so fucking happy because she's been trying to distance herself from Brooke to give her time to heal and now she can have one of her best friends back!!!

Do you have any more ideas on how sans (swapfell red) were like as a kid?
if not that's okie :)
No no no... I do; I very much do!
SFR!Sans, as a child, was such a handful...
It's not because he wasn't disciplined; Not because he was seeking attention; It was literally his Soul desiring to follow what he was made for.
In my verse, he was literally made to become a cold killer.
Unlike Russ, Sans was only thought up of as a mere second thought; Nothing much was processed besides; 'Back up plan 2'
Gaster in this world, was aiming to take the Royal Scientist River's spot. He seeked with anger, jealousy, greed... He aimed with malicious intent; Which both boys gained, but sadly San's had the main blunt of it.
So after things were said and done; Both Papyrus and their adopted father, Lizando, fought fang and claw to settle Sans however they could during his toddler stages. He was a terrible; Literally scratching and biting everything and anything up. Toys, books, his own adoptive Sister, even Russ & Li themselves.
Sans bit so much, they actually invested in a special muzzle for him...
Occasionally, they found Sans killing small creatures... After they saw how gleeful he was about it, gaining small amounts of LVL with it, the two took the steps to correct it. Sans was gaining psychotic tendencies neither one wanted to have...
Sans showed the desired signs Gaster had originally wanted; Up into his young tween stages. He was gifted more than Russ with the killing and no remorse senses. Sans' soul was a dull dark grey when he was a baby; Something so rare for a monster child, even in their realm.
Thankfully with a General as your adoptive Father; Safe to say he had more ways to help Sans target this--... Oddly aggressive behavior in a more than healthy way.
│Sans was taught early how to wrestle; He adored to and rough house with his siblings. He really enjoyed doing it with Papyrus since he'd always hurt Alphys too much. But as Russ got 'lazier', not wanting 'to play', Sans turned to Alphy and going easy for her, in order to get her up to 'His Level'. │Learned how to control his strength at that stage; But when really upset, he has gone into a blind rage. │After the blind rage from his 5/7 age range, where a toddler was much easier to handle, and realizing he had actually harmed the ones he loved; That woke up Sans own internal thinking and realization to become someone better. Hasn't had a blind rage since that day. │Sans was always praised for things he did accordingly; And at first, he reacted negatively to it all... Hated the praise! But as time went on, he slowly enjoyed it.
Still, Sans learned the language of swearing, cussing, and everything else from Russ' friends. He would curse like a lil'sailor, not caring who was around. That stopped when Sans found a better role model, even if for a short while.
Once he gets into his teen stages; He really starts to even out and has the goal to become a General, like his 'Father'. Sans has called him as such, and has the dream to becoming a Duo General with Alphy's.
Alphy's and Sans have always battled since; Be it sparring together, simple sibling rivalry, or even a simple discussion. Those two were the best of friends and shared many likes and teased the other for their dislikes when Russ was no longer available and Li got killed.
But still, Sans was a lil'troubling with how eagerly he wanted to kill and rip anyone apart if they so much as showed him their eyes.

Could Light be a good father if he has a normal life without death note?
In my opinion, yes. I think Light as a character isn't meant to be seen as an inherently unhinged and evil person just waiting to snap. I think he's meant to be seen as somebody who would've led a fairly ordinary and upstanding life had he never come in contact with the notebook, which is sort of the irony and the horror of the situation and his character development much of the time (because it suggests that the potential for that kind of terrible behaviour could exist even amongst people with good intentions and decent prospects and upbringings and very little trauma in their childhoods to speak of and everything else). It might somewhat depend on your definition of a "good parent," but I think that he would at the very least be a dutiful and responsible parent and take the idea of being a father and a role model pretty seriously. I imagine he'd model himself after his own parents in a lot of his values and ideals and decisions. Probably would be a very busy and hard-working parent, maybe a bit overly strict and hard to please and somewhat emotionally unavailable, but also very steady and meticulous and reliable when providing the things he felt were his responsibility to do for his kids. Even if he didn't always feel like being there for them he would still show up every day and do his part to the best of his ability, because that's the way he thinks and the kind of person he is.

Do you think Jesse watches his language around Baby at all? I can imagine him holding back around her (but still slipping up often), then getting upset when someone else swears. But since he's mad, he'd just go "hey, watch the fucking language" or something.
he definitely really tries to when he first meets her!! he's already doing his best to be a good, trustworthy Adult around her and demi, and drills it into himself that he needs to be a Good Role Model. we are talking about jesse "bitch" pinkman though, so he slips up pretty often and initially feels terrible about it because what kind of good parent swears constantly in front of their kid?? after a while though, he realizes that baby isn't repeating any of them and it doesnt bother her the way yelling does and demi doesn't comment on it (other than giving an involuntary giggle when his default response is "hell yeah"), and stops putting so much pressure on himself. baby grew up around adults anyway, so it's nothing she hasn't heard. but ur absolutely right, he doesn't like strangers swearing around her and will break out the "hey dude, do u mind, theres a little kid here" as if he didnt just say "fuck this parking lot" in the car with her five minutes ago. he's nothing if not super protective of her and will make a fuss, even if it does mean accidentally saying "don't say that shit" to the guy cursing up a storm at the post office.
