the thing about pei ming. is that what the narrative shows you straight out is him in a relationship where he didn't follow the typical romantic convention of abandoning everything for the other person. and then him attempting to cover for his nepotism grandkid. and then his reputation for sleeping with a lot of women. and then it really doesn't want to let you talk about the fact that he's very consistent about making sure that the women he has relationships with are taken care of after he's gone. or that he was doing the honorable thing by not taking the easy way out of a war and did his best with an impossible situation with that woman afterwards and made sure she was taken care of to the best of his ability. or that shi wudu, water tyrant, trusts him so much that he's essentially appointed him as shi qingxuan's guardian in case anything happens to him. like YES he's a whore. I gave myself a writing challenge and I am fascinated by it

So basically I put the robins in a randomizer to give them a new order/role (because I just...kinda wanted to see what would happen + I like role-reversal AUs) and got results that are giving me a fucking brain blast.

Stephanie, the first sidekick who defines the role

Tim, the sidekick who dies and comes back wrong

Dick, the sidekick who saves Batman from himself

Damian, the sidekick who was never supposed to be a sidekick but would go on to prove everyone wrong

Jason, the youngest sidekick who is still the Kid Wonder

...So this is fucking wild. I've got some ideas and several of these fit perfectly (Dick's role is pretty similar to his one in canon), but some of these are fucking INCREDIBLE to explore (Steph being the first Robin is something I never even considered but tbh I kinda love it).

I probably won't write a fic or anything because tbh I don't like publishing my writing that much, but I might expand this into a full AU and post about it. I might randomize other stuff too (ie, stuff that I cannot change vs stuff that I cannot keep the same) but this fucking rules as a starting point.

Like...his role has not changed much outside of being younger/not the one who defines this #But I still think it'll be good to see how well I know Dick beyond his eldest brother thing (which is my best way of relating to him)#Damian al ghul #damian wayne #oh this is gonna kick ass #Bruce does not want his son to be a sidekick but Damian just kinda forces his way into that role #and everybody doubts him because of his history with the league but he later proves himself more than capable #to the point that he can set out mostly on his own and still thrive #Jason Todd #Jason being the baby of the family is also something I have never thought about but holy shit it could kick ass #I really hope that I don't roll 'Jason must die' or 'Robin 5 must die' on the randomizer. I just kinda want Jason to live this time #But unfortunately I double-screwed him because he's on the 'must happen' wheel twice now. It's so weird growing up how fast you get disinterested in eating sweet food. Like I've gone from 'I can eat a bag of Gummi Bears and drink a liter of coke and have a big bar of chocolate in one evening' to 'i'll have sweet things sometimes but I get so sick of like eg Gummi Bears so quickly. A handful is really on the verge of too much sometimes' in so little time.

#like idk it's so wild to me #and i mean im not even 25 yet #i am not old by any standard #i feel like it should be talked about more too #like i remember being 15 and feeling bad for my sugar cravings #i guess partly bc i was watching diet culture shit but also just like i was looking at diet recs made by people in their mid-twenties #at least #and like looking back I'm just like you're fine. you're just like 15 you need more sugar and that's not a bad thing #like just trust yourself and eat whatever you want. eventually you won't like this anymore bc youll be older #i mean i look at my brother and he's 14 and he eats so much and especially so much sweet stuff #and like my parents tell him to stop but honestly i feel like when you're that age like you're going through so much #and like your brain changes etc so like of course you want a lot of sugar what the fuck #and eventually you will get older and realise that having idk some veg with a dip or something #feels better in those moments or you know. sometimes you'll still want sweets but you'll also crave something more substantial #but that's just not how teenagers work

I believe that IF Silver IS a descendent of Sonic/Shadow/Amy/anyone else, he's a descendent via adoption because the only Sonic character that I accept having kids is Vanilla.

honestly part of the reason im not a fan of the ideas of silver being a descendant of other characters we already know is because i just dont see why its necessary for them to be related ..? idk i just dont think anything that could be gained from him being shadows kid or sonics descendant or whatever is worth losing part of whats already compelling about silver and also making things super confusing. plus none of the pairings of already existing characters people have suggested as silvers bio parents make any sense, usually because its impossible from a timeline perspective but also because theyre always picking characters who would NOT have kids either in general or with the specific people theyre being paired with

#i also just kinda have a hard time imagining most sonic characters who arent already parents (so. most of them) wanting to be parents #it just does not feel right to me #i guess part of it could be an age thing . being a parent is an Adult thing and most sonic characters are not adults #so imagining them doings things that only adults do by in universe standards just feels strange and foreign to me #even though these scenarios would obviously take place a couple decades into the future #but also even when specifically thinking about it through the lens of ''would this character want to be a parent when theyre older''#the answer is usually no or idk #because there are a lot of characters where it just doesnt feel like it fits them?#sonic and rouge are a couple characters i can name off the top of my head who i know for sure would not have kids.#shadow im not so sure about either. yet he is the most common choice for silvers bio parent. pain #thing about shadow and silver is i think a timeline where shadow is actually around to meet little silver and is like #a mentor/older brother/guardian figure of sorts does kinda have potential to be interesting but i dont really want that to be made canon #but shadow straight up being his dad? idk man. not really into that. shadow being his biological dad? If there's a thing I'm happy about it's that I'm an eldest daughter but not an Eldest Daughter. I had reasonable good parents and therefore I have never had to do any parenting. Thank you mom and dad
