jack drake is a dad for sure
#Okay hi i need to get out all my thoughts (at the midpoint-ish of robin/where no mans land stuff is happening)#Because it’s like. He is not a good father. But he also loves his son both are true at the same time#It’s like. he pulls out all the stops during no man’s land. and getting worried and mad when tim up and disappears suddenly a ton is a#reasonable reaction. But with that said. he sucks as a dad just differently from popular portrayal#I think everyone should read to the father I never knew b4 saying anything about Tim’s relationship with his dad. Like. Jack loves him and#he has an image of tim in his head that is very different from what he actually is#<- i don’t think only cares about status drakes is true at all like it’s a different issue.#<- and on that note janet is fridged so early so putting any sort of bad mom thing on her is just. like. misogyny#BUT anyways he also sucks as a father real bad the. tv ripping incident is genuinely haunting#He has a skewed perception of himself he’s constantly like I’ve been permissive.. when Tim comes back this time I’m going to be so#strict. As if he isn’t authoritative and terrible#Also his continued like I’m going to be a better father. (proceeds not to do that)#Also I’m always thinking of that one panel from the robin miniseries where they’re like dad we won’t let anything come in between us again#& the bat signal is in the background. genuinely showstopping.#Anyways. Yeah. Jack drake. Is a dad for sure. Not a good one. He sucks. In a way that is different from popular portrayal#In a rlly interesting way.#esha.txt#dc#tim

Fluff creepypasta headcanons?
:: FLUFF CREEPYPASTA HEADCANONS ::
Tumblr media
• i do not own the image above •
NOTES ( i just went with adding random fluff headcanons of various creeps because i wasn’t too sure what to write exactly. hopefully this is what you wanted… but if not, feel free to request more! this took so long to get out, i’m sorry! life is a bit hectic sometimes but i still love to write when possible :) )
◾️◾️◾️◾️◾️◾️◾️◾️◾️◾️◾️◾️◾️◾️◾️◾️◾️◾️
:; brian will hold doors open for you, he lets you in the room before he enters himself no matter where you are. even when you are away from the manor/their homes! he also opens vehicle doors, too
:; toby and ben will remove anything from your hair that gets stuck, they’ll also adjust your hair if your hairstyle gets out of place. this gives them an excuse to gently touch you and they “look like a gentleman”
:; brian, ben, eyeless jack, dark link and toby always give their S/O a kiss goodbye no matter where they are going. you could literally be going outside to hangout on the porch and they will get a quick smooch in
:; eyeless jack, brian, kagekao, nina, and jane are probably the most comfiest to cuddle with.
jack is tall and big which gives you plenty of room to cuddle him from all angles or get comfy underneath him.
brian likes to wrap his arms around you and bring your bodies chest to chest, he’s also really warm! it takes seconds to fall asleep!
kagekao is also similar to jack but always smells so good like lavender oils, which he probably does put on himself just because he also thought it smelled good. he’ll also share some wine with you while you wind down for the night
nina is a chaotic cuddler and definitely the little spoon. she will fight over this, but it’s cute! she’s all over you, underneath or on top. though she does drool once she passes out
jane has a warm, tight embrace. she will wrap her arms around you while scratching your head/back for comfort. she also smells amazing and her chest is a great place to lay your head, sooo comfy
:; jane and nina love to do makeup! they will glam you up in heartbeat if you ask them to. if your makeup starts to get a little runny or is a bit messy they will fix it for you, too! (they’re good about making it not discreet so you’re not embarrassed). their hands always smell fruity when they get close to your face with a makeup brush, you’ll be thinking about the smell all day
:; toby, dark link, ben, and nina are huge hand holders. they are always reaching for their s/o’s hand
toby has a tight grip, he’s the one who will grab your hand every single time you’re with him. almost without a thought, he’s wrapped around his s/o!
dark link is a gentle hand holder, he likes to be smooth with it and usually runs his fingers over your shoulders and down your arms before locking his fingers in yours. he’s very proud of his s/o!
ben is a lazy hand holder, he has a really loose grip but don’t pull away from him! he gets so offended but it makes him realize he needs to hold a bit tighter
nina is a bit like toby, she’s all over her s/o (or really anyone in general). she loves to hold hands and will comment on good manicure techniques that will get your hands/nails in shape
:; eyeless jack is a nest maker, if you’re his s/o he will definitely make you the most comfiest spot to lay in, even though his s/o’s are allowed to snuggle in his bed (which is a bundle of covers and pillows he’s arranged like a nest)
:; brian, tim and jeff love to tease other creeps, but especially their s/o. height difference is something they pick at. cant reach the top cabinet? they’ll come up behind you and coo at how small you are, “poor thing can’t get a cup? guess you’ll be thirsty, haha.”
but! they can’t be mean for long. they’ll get you whatever you need and expect a kiss for the help.
:; all the creeps enjoy when their s/o sits on their lap!
eyeless jack and kage are pretty huge guys being demons and all, so they’re the most comfiest to sit on. there’s so much room to move around and honestly if you do move around a lot, they more than likely don’t even know. they give amazing head scratches, you’ll be asleep in seconds
brian, tim, jeff, and toby are a normal size for humans. they’re also very comfy themselves but are more likely to be the ones who fall asleep first! brian and tim especially love when they’re busy doing paper work and their s/o crawls into their lap, they may scold you for a bit saying they’re busy but they’re really not busy enough for your cuddles
ben and dark link are demons like jack and kage (i hc them to be lol) but they’re much smaller demons! definitely bigger than the average human but not as big as the other two. ben is cold to the touch so he’s nice to sit on when you’re hot but dark is the opposite! both place their hands on your hips or wrap their arms around you right when you sit on them
jane and nina are the squishiest seats, and the most great smelling… and more! the second you’re on their lap they’re ecstatic, reaching out to you or giving you a hug from behind. they’re ready to talk so it’s never boring!
:; brian, tim, jeff, kage, dark link and eyeless jack are rough kissers. they’re more likely to bite your lip and start a heated make out session
jane, nina, toby, and ben are soft kissers (of course this depends if you’re getting freaky) but they’re more likely to kiss you and ask how your day has been before anything else
◾️◾️◾️◾️◾️◾️◾️◾️◾️◾️◾️◾️◾️◾️◾️◾️◾️◾️
Bunch of random creeps! If you’d like a specific creep, please check out my profile & pick any character(s) from the list that i write for! Any request made will be out first thing! thanks so much for the requests/support so far! <3 i cant believe some of my headcanons have already gotten over 100+ hearts (or close to) ahhh :) everyone seems to like ben a bit 👀 - 🍫🍄

I already spoke about this on Twitter BUT as you all know I prefer posts rather than threads so:
Catlad!Tim makes Ra'sTim better
First of all, we go from a mere "Ra's is in love with the adoptive son of the ex boyfriend of his daughter" to "this son also dresses as the new wife of Talia's ex boyfriend" passing by "Tim is Damian's adoptive siblings and he dresses like their stepmom."
It's wonderful.
And like, in my mind this scenario in particular is a post Red Robin scenario, where Tim has an intense fight with the bats and decides to take a different path, becoming Selina's teammate and expressing his queerness openly with someone who understands him (plus Selina admits she has maternal feelings for Tim). Eventually Tim sort of fixed his relationship with the bats but stayed as Catlad/Stray anyway, living in his own penthouse surrounded by the cats Selina had to leave when marrying Bruce.
And this is when things with Ra's get spicy; sure, Ra's knew that Timothy had left the Red Robin mantle behind and taken a new one, following the steps of Catwoman. However, Ra's had never faced Tim in the field again, and the first time they see each other after these 2~3 years... Man, is Ra's discovering things about himself and his sexuality.
It's not news that Ra's likes Timothy, but now? Now Ra's is whipped, mind taken over by the image of Tim in that tight leather suit with high heels and makeup and cat ears and - Wait, what does this tell about Ra's? Is he weird for liking the cat ears?
Meanwhile Tim, is thrilled! He goes all annoying kitten towards Ra's, being sneaky, mean, playful, seductive, spoiled... He adores the palpable frustration that Ra's is going through seeing him like this, and Tim loves making it worse.
Poor Ra's can barely endure Tim replicating what Selina once did to Bruce: Turns out immortality doesn't give you any more patience regarding people in leather kissing you over rooftops and then pushing you away. Tim thinks it's hilarious, specially when Ra's realizes that Tim always manages to steal something from him.
And ofc this idea is longer, involves a lot of awkward talks between both the bats and al Ghuls, and has mamma cat Selina being the one who understands Tim being attracted to certain awful man (trust her, she knows about liking and marrying not so very good men who need therapy. Hers dresses up as a bat at night). But in general the whole core of this idea I have is just Ra's freezing at the unforgettable and enticing view of Tim as Catlad/Stray.
Tim is the only one who can manage to steal the heart of the demon's head and live to tell it.

Interacting with Entities
The Justice Leagues main meeting room wasn’t usually this crowded, with both the entire Flash, Bat, Super, and Arrow families in attendance. Though to be fair, Red Robin didn’t usually send out a message on mass that told them he had information that changed the fundamentals of life and death.
Tim was typing at the main computer, ignoring or not hearing the whispers of everyone around him as he opened what seemed to be a very disturbing image. It showed a little girl, no older than ten, with red hair and off-color green-white skin in what seemed to be a lab. She was leaning against an operating table, sobbing. On the operating table was a toddler, who couldn’t be older than three.
He’d been dissected. He was pinned open like a frog in a high school science class, and the only thing in his small body were his ribs. His other organs were in jars surrounding him, his heart above his head. His eyes had been removed as well, placed in separate jars on each side of his heart.
The room fell deathly silent as they took in the image. Tim turned around, tired and grim, and spoke. “Who you are looking at is Jazz and Danny Fenton from Ohio. Jazz is possible a different species, and Danny is a clone she created. The reason she knew how to do this and succeeded is because of her hyper intelligence and from watching her parents, who are scientists.”
Tim turned around again and clicked a button. “And as you can see, their very unethical ones.” The video began playing, projecting the girls deep, heart-wrenching sobs. You could hear how much she loved him, how many good memories she had with him. She choked, sniffling and whimpering in a soft, broken tone, “I–*hic* I….. I j-just didn’t wa-waaant *hic* to be alone any*hic*more….”
Behind her, something began to form.
It made the video distort, but it was clearly a person fading into existence. It looked like someone swirling something in reverse. The video cleared up and floating where the vortex had been was an old man, with icy blue skin and red eyes. He had long, white hair and wore a cloak that hid the rest of his body.
He placed a hand on her shoulder and spoke in a soft tone, “You are a child.” Jazzs sobs didn’t stop, but they slowed as he continued. “You are a scared, abused, neglected, horribly alone child. The only thing you wanted was to be loved, to have something to love. This was not your fault. This was a failure of the system, not you.”
Jazz had stopped crying, and for a moment they were silent, staring at the body in front of them. The man spoke again, but softer. “There is a way to bring him back, you know.” Jazzs head wiped around so fast many worried of whiplash. But the camera now has a clear view of her face, and her bright red eyes.
“How?” She said, gripping the man’s cloak, “no riddles, no cryptic messages, please Clockwork, please, just tell me how to bring him back.” He smiled softly and patted her head. “It will be a long journey, and difficult in ways unimaginable, and you must do it alone. But I believe you will be able to succeed.”
Clockwork began floating about the lab, picking out random things such as syringes filled with strange brightly-colored liquids and futuristic looking weapons as he spoke. “What is an Entity, Jasmine?”
Jazz watched him, confused, but answered. “It’s when the personification of a concept, like Lady Justice, or a natural unchangeable occurrence, like life and death or the four seasons, gains sentience and comes together to form a corporeal, human-like form.”
“It happens when these concepts or occurrences gain enough power,” she continued, “and then every part of them comes together to form a singular whole. Like how every religious belief formed Lady Death, or how everyone’s opinion on a season effects how they act and express themselves.”
“Very good.” Clockwork said, the objects he picked up floating around him in a circle when he let them go. “Deep in the Hindu Kush Mountains, in a place called Nada Parbat, there is an Entity trapped. Her name is ɭ̷͕̈́ค̴̡̞̮̱̩͓̝̅̈́͗͆̋̆̋̈́̉̿̓̕͠ᘔ̴̨̢̖͔͖͚͙̗̚ͅค̵͈͍̞͚̄̐̃̔̌̋͜ͅг̶̣̙̰̣͔̖̰̱̝͔͍̘͂͆̄̈́̆̍͑͒͛̃̚ͅย̶͇̥̜͈͚̼͉̈́̈̓̒͊͗̍͋̄̆̕͠ร̷̪̃̈́͒̒̿͠͝.” The Justice League was torn from their intense focus of the video to the sudden pain in their ears, the wave of nausea that washed over them, the dizziness and confusion. Whatever language that was it wasn’t meant for human ears.
In the video, Jazz didn’t seem effected, and even understood what he was saying. She muttered the word, over and over again, before she said, “Lazarus? I’ve never heard of that before. What’s she made out of?” Clockwork floated back towards her and continued to explain. “Her true name is Lady Life. She is the oldest, the truest, spread among and deeply connected to every part of this universe. From the smallest ant to the largest planet, she is Life in its purest form.”
“Is she older than you?” Jazz asked, tilting her head and grabbing every syringe she could reach, placing them on a different table than the one Danny was on and organizing them by size and color. Clockwork laughed. “Far, far older. She existed before Lady Death did, in a sort of ‘chicken and egg’ scenario.”
“I tell you this,” Clockwork started, handing Jazz several of the weapons before continuing, “because for the past few centuries, Lady Life’s powers have been severely abused by people who are not worthy of them. And those subjected to her power against their will are going about treating the side effects incredibly wrong.”
“What are the rules for interacting with an Entity?” “Do not take, do not lie, do not steal.” Jazz replied, “Ask, explain, thank. And good will follow.” Clockwork smiled. “Very good. And what is the rule for when bringing an Entity into the body?” “Do not bathe, for it washes away.” Jazz again replied. “Do not inject, for it pierces skin. Consume, for eating is only done willingly and happily.”
“Now, a series of questions.” Clockwork said, “When bringing an Entity into the body, what happens when you attempt to lock it away?” “It will attempt to lock you away.” “And when you ties to fight it?” “It will try to fight you.” “And when you try to control it?” “It will attempt to control you.”
Jazz finished her sorting and turned to look at Clockwork. “The best way to bring an Entity into your body is to accept it, respect it, and love it, and it will give you the same in return.” They stared at each other silently for a couple minutes, not blinking or breathing.
“I have to bring Lady Life into Danny.” Jazz finally spoke. Clockwork nodded. “But how?” Jazz look to the operating table for a moment, before turning back to Clockwork. “He can’t eat anything….” Clockwork moved to the side, blocking her view of the table. “Remember, Jasmine; ask, explain, thank. Like everyone, Lady Life has many sides. While yes, she can be endlessly cruel, but also deeply loving and compassionate. It all depends on how you treat her.”
Jazz thought for a moment. “So, if I free Lady Life—because that’s what you want me to do, right?” At Clockworks nod she continued, “Right. So, if I free her, and I treat her really nicely and I ask nicely, she’ll bring Danny back?” Clockwork said yes, and Jazz fell silent again. “How do I do it?” She said, her red eyes alight with determination. Clockwork held out his hand, and when she took it—
Both them and Danny were gone

get you a man who will be your (emotional) support bra- spiritual successor to this post!
[I.D. four images of a pencil comic featuring jay and tim from marble hornets. the comic starts with jay hunched over and angrily editing while tim lays on the bed in the background staring at him. he asks "you doin' okay?" an agitated jay replies "is there even a point to that question anymore?" tim makes a very unamused face and responds "ok you're pissy, got it. but this is different than usual, what gives?" jay curls his arms in on himself and looks to the side saying "nothing it- it's stupid." tim, now sitting up, prods "jay..." jay covers his face with his hands and exclaims "UGH well thanks to you i haven't been binding and i can feel my chest too much and its'-UGH!" tim begins to get off the bed with a concerned look. he approaches jay and rests a hand on his shoulder with a solemn look, saying "I- that sucks, man." jay is still looking away, one hand to his face. he then glances to tim asking "yeah, don't suppose you know anything that might help?" tim makes a blank face as he has a sudden recollection and then answers "i.. might have an idea.." while blushing and looking to the side. jay turns to him and asks "oh yeah?" tim brings a hand up to rub the back of his neck and nervously answers "yeah just- don't freak out?" he then looks to the side and says "turn back around" through this jay looks at tim confusedly but complies. tim pulls up a chair behind jay, who's still hunched on a stool. tim positions himself behind jay and begins to reach around as jay lets out a quiet "uh..." tim then wraps his arms around jay, right under his chest. jay sits up with a shocked expression and thinks a very large "UH." while jay keeps a shocked and heavily blushing expression, tim rests his chin on jay's shoulder, looking down with a slightly embarrassed expression and saying "uh-yeah. i found this helped me a lot before my surgery. i can stop though." jay looks to the side with a wobbly smile and replies "no it-its fine. it's a good distraction. but uh, since you're here, mind helping me crack these codes?" they stay like that and idly chat for a panel when it comes back to tim looking over jay's shoulder and saying "... i'm sorry you were feeling shitty but i'm glad you're taking better care of yourself." this flips to jay's side where he smiles and says "... me too. thanks for looking out for me." they continue on, a panel zooming out to view them from a window, part of a hooded figure on the side leaning on the wall and seemingly humming pleasantly. back to tim who says "hmm, could be-" when a sleepy jay lolls his head into frame. tim turns to look at him and with a sweet smile says "let's call it quits for now, huh?" jay tiredly responds "mn, ok." end I.D.]
+ a bonus of when tim would deal with it:

[I.D. a simple two panel comic with panel one showing brian sitting on a couch eating popcorn as tim stands behind the couch sadly leaning his head on brian and groaning "briannn.." brian asks "need a lift?" tim answers "few minutes please" and brian responds "on it boss". the second panel shows tim having joined brian on the couch, brian wrapping his arms under tim's chest. tim now holds the popcorn bowl and chews while holding up a piece for brian. end I.D.]

Have I tried to do research on incubuses to write this, yes...
Did I not like the research I did and made it all up in my head, yes again....
Well, although this is an incubus ask is there any proper sex in it, unfortunately no
Will I send this anyway, absolutely yes...
Tim has been an incubus since birth
The magic emitted from the parchment found by Jack and Janet in one of their excavations entered the body of Janet, who was pregnant at that moment, causing some changes in the fetus
Fearing that something would happen to their baby, they talked to the elders of the village where they found the scroll and tried to get as much information about it as possible
The spell was created by a man who found the person he loved in someone else's arms. According to the idea in the mind of the person who created the magic, his lover had been captured through sex and removed from him. In order to correct this, he tried to turn his body into a soul that would be desired by everyone, but he died before he could fully succeed
The point where he failed was actually too simple. Normally, Incubus souls are desired by the other side, and the soul would fulfill its nourishment with this desire, even though it did not need it very much. However, although the baby formed as a result of this magic would be desired by the other side again, he would not be able to live long enough without introducing the fluids formed from people's ejaculation into his body
Jack and Janet didn't quite know what they could do. Their son had been born with a pair of black wings that suited him very well and a long tail that moved depending on his emotions. As parents, they did not want their baby to try to taste semen or orgasm fluid at an early age from strangers, so they continued to stay with Tim for several years and tried to feed him every time their little baby sat on their lap and started to put his teeth on their skin
Within a few years, Tim began to slowly learn to control himself. When he was old enough to go to school, he was able to hide his tail and wings and continue his life without feeding for several weeks
And Jack and Janet, every time their son grew up and learned to control himself more, they increased the duration of their trips abroad a little bit and left Tim alone in the big mansion
It wasn't because they didn't like their little baby, but being trapped in Gotham for years to satisfy Tim's hunger was suffocating them now, and they wanted to get back to the excitement they had experienced thanks to their archaeological excavations
On one of the trips where they left Tim alone, the little incubus accidentally discovered another of his powers when he felt that he was going to starve to death
To be able to enter people's dreams...
The first dream he entered was none other than Dick Grayson, who was living in the Wayne Manor at that time and his hormones were through the roof as a result of puberty
Tim had learned that he could also take on the images of different people during that first dream
After that, he began to spend his time usually entering Dick's dreams. Of course, there were also times when the young boy followed Batman and Robin using his little wings to fully understand the time of his sleep and learned their identities, but this information did not interest Tim so much at that moment
Dick's departure from Gotham after a fight with Bruce led to a new discovery of Tim
The more distance there was, the harder it was for Tim to enter into their dreams
In response, he began to find himself in Bruce's dreams. Probably due to the fact that he was older, Tim did not have a lot of opportunities that he could use for sex, but he still managed to get enough semen into his body to feed
Maybe that's why Jason's young body's arrival meant that he was having a really good amount of food
However, everything began to mix up with the murder of Robin by the Joker. Tim had been unable to reach his parents for a long time, Dick had an even bigger fight with Bruce and said he would never return to Gotham again, while Bruce had begun to see nothing but dreams of losing Jason which caused Tim to cry from the pain
Perhaps that's why his purpose of being Robin was different from everyone else. For normal incubuses, maybe the person they wanted didn't mean anything, but for Tim, connecting to certain people meant not being able to get food from anyone other than them that would help him survive
His body could also choose to accept different people, but this was a complex process(If there is a first-degree kinship to the person he first connected with, sudden attachment would occur) and would be impossible to do after a certain age
The murder of his family, Jason's coming back and him trying to kill Tim which in a way would get Tim out of his dreams, Bruce's death which even though he knows he's alive, and where Dick took Robin away from him and Damian's threats on Tim's life...
The soul inside Tim refused to have desires for people who refused to desire him in a sense, but there were no other people Tim could feed on. He was 17, so the last age he could choose someone different and connect with, even if by force, he spent proving that Bruce was alive
His body was burning, and during the slightest carelessness, his wings and tail would have appeared. Although Tim could have sex in real life until the distrust between them decayed, he didn't want to bother anyone, and the thought of other people touching his body made his stomach uncomfortable
One of the times when he masturbated to eliminate the pain in his pussy in his own apartment and did not need to hide his normal body, Dick caught him in this state
Thinking that his body had been seized, his older brother immediately took him in his arms and tried to take him to the cave
Under normal circumstances, Tim would have tried to get rid of his brother's arms, but right now he wanted to live his last moments happily without anyone finding out his secret, because that little touch ignited the desire in his body
He remembered that his parents had said at the time that it was dangerous for other people to realize that he was an incubus, and he wept into the heat that he would never experience again, while tears soaked Dick's uniform
It was only a matter of time before they kicked Tim out of the family. They would realize that he was really an incubus and they would hate him for using them
But that didn't happen. On the contrary, his family looked at him with sad expressions in their eyes as they listened to what Zatanna was telling. They squinted their eyes with regret while listening to how Tim could not enter their dreams due to the problems that had arisen between them and that he would die if he did not feed decently for a while
And this made Tim very angry. He didn't want their pity, or the thought that they would show him love and desire his body just because he was going to die made him sad
As a result, he fled from the manor...
Others were feeling extremely frustrated over this escape attempt. Even if Tim couldn't get into their dreams, especially as an incubus how could he not feel the desires that kept them up every night? Hunger should have dulled his senses
And even if they caught Tim, what were they going to do? They didn't want to try to force sex and further increase Tim's already insecure feelings, but if they waited any longer, it might have been too late
As a result, after bringing Tim to the manor, they began to prepare drinks consisting their semen
And since Tim got into the habit of drinking it constantly, after a certain period of time, he began to lose control over his movements due to a state of excessive satiety, just like in his childhood with his parents
While Bruce was working in his office, he ignored the meeting opened on the computer, went under the table and started sucking his dick, which he pulled out of his pants
He ignored the image that was open on TV while the movie was being watched and covered himself with the veil he shared with Dick, bringing his little pussy together with his big brother's cock and letting everyone hear the dirty sound caused by sex
He let Jason fuck his pussy hard by decking him between the wall and his muscular body or made Damian's first experience by sitting on him and jumping on his little boy's dick
He felt relieved. The pain in his body disappeared, and he even began to be able to re-enter his family's dreams
It was a complete feast...
the LORE packed into this yesssss!!!!! incubus tim is so good especially his family realizing they've been starving and neglecting him and tim FINALLY getting his fill of all the cum he needs!!!!

Chapter 6
(Yes, Marinette and Damian disconnected Audio only before they went to her hotel, so no Tikki reveal sorry!)
Prev First Next
—*—*—*—*—*
Back at the Batcave, Robin was the first to change, sit through debrief, and go to sleep. Nobody questioned him, knowing full well his motives. The other vigilantes however, despite being back in their civvies, were not so quick to end the night.
“You all heard that, right?” Jason asked. Oracle, also known as Barbara Gordon, rolled her eyes. She backed up in her wheelchair and turned to face everyone else.
“What, the part where Marinette made you coo when she essentially defended you and said she still thought of you as a good person?”
Jason rolled his eyes. “I mean yeah, that part was pretty nice. But I’m talking about everything she said about Paris,” the man clarified, leaning back in a chair so that the front two legs lifted off the ground. “She was geared and ready to continue listing examples of Akumas. I doubt she even listed half of the ones that were centered around or targeting her. And having to go through all of her classmates becoming villains, even temporarily?” He shook his head. “That kinda shit doesn’t leave anybody unaffected.”
“Especially what she said about the mermaid monster Akuma,” Tim agreed, pulling up a story on the computer. “I’ve pulled up the reports from both the Ladyblog and the AkumaWatch app. They seem to agree on everything, so I think this was back when the Ladyblog was still reliable,” he pulled up a video taken by the girl who ran the Ladyblog, Alya Cesaire. Marinette’s former best friend and current classmate. The commentary was all in French, but Tim had went ahead and added quick English subtitles for everyone. The wonders of having a supercomputer. The video was taken from a high roof, and showed the water flowing so high that it completely covered most buildings. It would have definitely caused enough pressure to break open windows and fill those buildings on the inside too.
“Woah! It looks like they can transform!” The voice of the reporter said in French, pointing to the distance where two blues of red and black hopped onto a building. The girl zoomed in, her phone’s camera just barely able to show an out-of-focus Ladybug and Chat Noir with different patterns to their uniforms and fins. The cat-themed hero managed to pull an entire car, and as they soon sound out, temporary supervillain Syren, out of the water all on his own. “Aqua suits! That’s so cool!”
It was obvious, however, that the girl’s voice shook a bit. She kept the camera purposely pointed as high up as she could while still catching the heroes and the destruction of the possessed item on screen. There were blurred images all across the surface of the water, which the heroes knew to be censored bodies.
“Only a couple thousand out of two million Parisians survived, that’s what Marinette said,” Barbara breathed, eyes wide. “Seeing it like this really makes it all real,” she clenched her jaw. They all continued watching as what was simply dubbed as Ladybug’s Miracle swept through the city in a shockwave o ladybugs, and the water disappeared. They watched as Alya aimed the camera down and caught very alive people popping up in the streets or on top of cars, wherever they had been right before getting carried away by the vicious waves.
Every hero in the Cave saw people of all ages down there, shimmering back to life. From month-old babies to old men and women.
It was both wonderful and horrifying.
After the video ended, the entire cave was silent for a long moment. Jason was the one that spoke up, to no one's surprise.
“What the fuck?” He growled, no longer leaning back in his chair. Both of his fists were clenched. “This has been on the internet for almost three years! How did we not see this before? How did we never know?” He asked, to which nobody had an answer. But the Bat himself had a hand on his chin as he studied the freeze-frame that the video ended on. Chat Noir and Ladybug fist-bumping.
“Maybe,” Bruce said slowly, as if tasting the words. “It’s time one of us visits the Paris branch of Wayne Enterprises. Ladybug and Chat Noir have been protecting the city for almost four years, it’s likely they know something about why the news hasn’t spread,” he mused. “Meanwhile, I will look into the League records. I never heard about a supposed prank call from France, meaning another piece of the puzzle is there.”
“There’s a problem with that though,” Tim pointed out. “Paris is essentially being held emotionally hostage. Anyone we send will have to be extremely capable of pushing down their negative emotions or transforming them into something positive. The last thing Paris’s heroes need is a supervillain with years of combat experience. Besides that, HawkMoth can telepathically communicate with his Akumatized villains. It wouldn’t be a stretch to assume that he can read their minds.”
“So not only would Paris’s heroes have to fight someone much more experienced than them, but our identities would be exposed,” Dick completed the thought, arms crossed. “That rules out Jason or Damian for sure. Which of us would be the most capable of avoiding strong negative emotions?”
When the First Robin looked up, it was to a raised eyebrow from his adoptive father and three fingers pointing straight at him from his brothers and Barbara.
“We can set up a flight for you for the day after tomorrow,” Bruce said with a grin that seemed way too smug for Dick, who was still gaping at everyone in betrayal. “Ask for the time off, okay? I can smooth things over if you need me to.”
“Oh, come on!” Dick threw his hands up. “I can be broody and mean!”
He was thoroughly ignored as everyone left to sleep for the night.
“Guys! You know what, fine, Paris is a gorgeous city. It’ll be like a vacation! Oh my god I just proved them right.”
—*—*—*—*—*
That night in the Mindspace was… well, Marinette’s insomnia reared its head and she entered it around three AM to find a very unamused Robin waiting for her.
“Honestly?” He asked, gesturing to the Tv screen. “You couldn’t have put some of the work off for tomorrow?”
Suddenly Marinette was very glad she didn’t talk to Tikki while working on her dress. The little Kwami had passed right out after the stressful day they both had.
“I have trouble sleeping sometimes,” she admitted shyly, shifting from foot to foot. “Sewing helps me relax. I want to be a fashion designer,” she explained, letting a soft smile overtake her lips. “I’m actually making my own dress for the Wayne charity gala at the end of the month.”
Robin’s eyebrows shot up over his domino mask. Once again, he was in his normal pajamas besides the mask that he donned after entering the mindspace. “Really? That’s pretty ambitious,” he told her, eyes going back to the screen. Then again, the snippets that he saw on the screen looked incredibly well done. Marinette’s face twisted up a bit in apprehension.
“Maybe a little,” she conceded. “But I’ve designed for Jagged Stone and Clara Nightingale. Even Gabriel Agreste and Audrey Bourgeois have asked for me to collaborate with them for a few pieces. Jagged and Clara commission me pretty often nowadays, and Jagged is a lot like an uncle to me now. I also design for local newscasters and other minor celebrities around town, and my best friend’s band Kitty Section,” She rambled, getting more passionate as she went. Robin actually found himself pretty impressed. The elder Agreste and Bourgeois both were notoriously hard to please names in the fashion industry, so to gain not just one but both of their attention and respect was a huge accomplishment.
“Perhaps I was incorrect then,” Robin amended. “With a portfolio like that, designing for the Gala is just the next small step up. I will look forward to seeing what you create,” he said honestly. His soulmate blinked, obviously caught off guard, before blushing furiously.
“Oh, uh, um, th-thank you!” She blinked again, the blush fading as she focused on the second meaning behind his words rather than just the flattery. “Wait, you’ll be at the gala?”
Robin had to hold back a smile. “It is a month away. I suspect by then you will have earned my identity. Soulmates tend to move faster than unbonded couples.”
Marinette gaped again. “Well. Uh. Thank you? I think. Wanna spar?”
It was Robin’s turn to be caught off guard. “Excuse me?”
“Do you want to spar?” She repeated, speaking at a normal pace instead of a tongue-twisting one. “Part of the reason it took so long to fall asleep is the adrenaline. It didn’t, uh, completely fade yet. And I’m still a little angry, but not enough to be dangerous in a spar.”
“I know,” Robin soothed, his calm tone a direct contrast to Marinette’s flustered rambling. “I felt the vibration when you were angry, both at GothCorp and on the roof when you punched the wall. You calmed down considerably fast, but the initial anger you felt at the woman lasted quite a while. It was very odd,” he tilted his head. “It left me very on edge. I cannot say I enjoyed it very much, but it was quite effective in getting the message across.”
Marinette laughed, nodding. Her own buzz of warning from Robin earlier had been very brief and low, barely a blip on her radar but enough to be felt. He had most likely just been upset for a moment. Marinette, on the other hand, had been burning up with her own fury.
“So, spar?” She asked again, smiling widely. “Maman says a good spar is one of the best ways to get to know a person,” she coaxed, leaning forward a bit. “Please?”
Robin snorted, standing up and stretching his arms. “You did not need to plead, I was about to accept either way. I could perhaps benefit from a new sparring partner.”
Marinette whooped, going to her half of the room. To her slight surprise, a new pink punching bag hung off to the side along with a few high bars for gymnastics. Taking a second, she turned to see that Robin’s own half of the mental world also had a few new additions. Weights, probably just for the familiarity of it, a few training dummies, and a punching bag of his own.
Neat! The girl thought excitedly, the last vestiges of anger draining away to be replaced by wonder. Soulbonds are so cool!
Shaking her head, she walked around to her sewing station and thought for a second. Her pajamas weren’t exactly a good outfit for a spar.
“Uh, how do we change clothes in here?” She asked, turning her head to look back at her soulmate. He, unsurprisingly, had already figured it out. The teen was now in exercise shorts and a perfectly fitting black tank top.
Marinette’s brain momentarily fizzled out.
Those arms! No, the legs! No, oh Kwami, I can see his abs. Shirts that tight should be illegal! Ohhh He has broad shoulders. Am I dead? I think I’m dead.
“Marinette? Are you listening?” The girl jumped, her object of torment suddenly standing with his arms crossed a few feet away.
“Huh? Oh yeah, totally. Just, uh, zoned out for a second.”
“Yeah,” he said with a raised eyebrow that just screamed disbelief. “I was saying that you simply imagine yourself in the outfit you wish to wear. This world is molded by our minds, after all.”
“Right. Easy. Got it,” Marinette nodded a little too fast, closing her eyes and imagining her usual exercise clothes. Black basketball shorts trimmed in red and a red tank top shone into existence, replacing her pink-and-white polka-dotted pajamas. Her hair, which was down from her taking out her pigtails before bed, was up in a messy bun on the back of her neck er head. Once down, she opened her eyes and gasped in joy. She turned to look at herself in the full length mirror next to her sewing station.
Behind her, she had unknowingly left her soulmate in a situation he was wholly unaccustomed to.
Perhaps I should have expected this, he thought sluggishly, feeling really caught off guard. His mind flashed to the memory of her punch splintering odd a few shards of solid brick. But her arms didn’t look that toned in her blouse earlier. Then again, she was wearing long sleeves, he had to stubbornly keep his eyes respectfully above the hips. He knew if he didn’t, his gaze would linger far too long on her muscular thighs. Turn away. You are being indecent he scolded himself, deciding to retreat to the sparring mat first.
After a second to recover from having caught Robin staring at her in the mirror— well, we ARE soulmates. It would be awkward if the attraction wasn’t mutual— Marinette joined him. Seeing as their bodies were not actually physical at the moment, they could skip stretching. Any hits they took would hurt momentarily to simulate the real world, but no actual damage would be taken.
“Ready?” She asked first, receiving a predatory grin in response.
“Are you?”
They both stood at the ready, their legs braced shoulder width apart and their arms tended but at the ready. To his shock, Marinette moved first.
The petite girl lunged, a very familiar high kick brushing uncomfortably close to Robin’s nose as he side-stepped the strike and attempted to grab her ankle. Marinette pulled her leg back too quickly, though, easily going right back into a defensive stance. Robin took the moment to get in close, aiming rapid punches at Marinette’s chest and torso. The girl proved to be just as flexible as she was strong, however, twisting around the wider strikes and batting away the ones she couldn’t avoid with her open palm. Each blocked punch sent a sharp sting through her hand, letting her know in no uncertain terms that she could not let even a single of his hits land.
The second Marinette saw an opening, she grabbed Robin’s bicep and heaved him over her hip. Instead of hitting the mat hard though, the seasoned vigilante tucked into a roll and popped right back up, leaping straight back at his soulmate. One of her punches glanced off his shoulder, forcing him to quickly recover his footing before he stumbled.
There’s that strength she showed earlier he noted. If that had been a direct hit, she might have dislocated my shoulder.
Robin leapt over Marinette’s head, slamming one knee up towards her back. The smaller teen was able to avoid a direct kit, but Robin’s knee still managed to clip right under her left rib cage. Instantly, she felt herself gasp for air. Mon dieu, that’s ridiculous! She thought, quickly hand-springing back to gain some distance as she caught her breath. My body gets a little sturdier outside the suit the longer I use the Ladybug Miraculous, but if he had hit me straight on I would have been down!
Both teen heroes were already slightly out of breath, staring at each other from opposite sides of the mat. They didn’t notice right away, but they each had the same breathless smile overtaking their face. They jumped back in towards each other at the same time.
Their spar was a flurry of punches and high-kicks, flips and ankle-swipes. They landed hits and got hit. Marinette got hit less often than Robin, purely due to her acrobatics and flexibility, but Robin’s tolerance for punishment was leagues (ha, bad joke) higher than Marinette’s. Even though he took more hits, he was in better shape than she was. Therefore, even though each of their strikes carried roughly the same force, it was clear Marinette was the one slowly losing ground. Marinette didn’t have her indestructible suit or enhanced abilities to help her out, at least not beyond what prolonged use of the Ladybug enhanced, but she was holding her own very well despite it.
It was almost twenty minutes —the mindspace making normal stamina levels irrelevant— before Marinette finally managed to grapple Robin and send them both tumbling onto the mat. They wrestled for a long moment, finding their physical strengths almost matched, before Robin finally managed to wrap his arm around Marinette’s throat and pin her legs with his own.
They were both gasping for breath by that point and, even though she lost, Marinette found herself laughing in glee. Robin’s grip loosened briefly before he completely let go, unwinding himself from her and standing up. He didn’t laugh like she did, but he was grinning widely and let out a few soft chuckles. He extended his hand down to his still-giggling soulmate, who grabbed on and allowed him to help her up.
“That was great!” She gushed. “I mean, sure, it stinks that I lost. But I’ll get you next time!”
“I fear you might not be wrong,” Robin admitted with another soft chuckle. “Not all of that was martial arts,” he said, clearly questioning her fighting style casually. Marinette rubbed the back of her head sheepishly.
“Ah, yeah. I took gymnastics as a kid. And my friend Kagami has been trying to teach me how to fence, but I just end up using those movements in melee instead. I’m okay with a foil, but I’m nowhere near the best. Kagami says I’m a natural, but I think she’s just sparing my feelings. And, uh, the whole parkour thing I mentioned.”
“Right. Parkour,” Robin agreed with a nod that Marinette knew meant he didn’t believe her but wouldn’t push. For now.
Marinette’s lips slowly widened into a devilish grin. “Hey, do you play Ultimate Mecha Strike Five?” She asked slyly, and Robin narrowed his eyes through his mask.
“Why do I feel like agreeing would be a mistake?”
“That’s a yes!” Marinette cackled and dragged Robin over to his couch. “Come on, let’s play!”
Seeing as both of the were asleep and their other senses inaccessible through the Tv, it allowed them to load the game. Surprisingly enough, Robin actually put up a decent fight.
Unsurprisingly, Marinette still won. Five times in a row.
“Alright,” Robin put his controller down, glancing over at an all too smug Marinette, crossing his arms. “Let's recap; I’ve discovered the situation in Paris is bleaker than I thought, you are surprisingly strong for your frame, you are much better of a fighter than you let on, and you have a vengeful streak.”
“I have no idea what you’re talking about,” Marinette cooed, her hand over her chest as she fluttered her eyelashes with false innocence. Robin just deadpanned at her. “I am completely innocent! An angel! I would never stoop to petty revenge over losing a spar!”
“Uh huh,” Robin said blandly. “Let’s revisit this argument when you decide to be more truthful, ‘Angel’.”
“Anytime, birdboy.”
—*—*—*—*—*
Thankfully, the next few days weren’t as hectic as the first twenty-four hours. Robin did have school and vigilante business to see to, so he and Marinette only met in their Mindspace for the rest of the week. Which wasn’t bad, even on nights when one or the other stayed up so late that they only had three or four hours in the mental world. Somehow, despite their brains remaining constantly active, the magic is the soulbond always left them more refreshed when they awoke than they would normally feel after that amount of sleep. And Marinette had her own things to do with her class, which included a brief (and very therapeutic) two-day visit to Metropolis since it wasn’t far away, to broaden the sights they could see. When they got back, they had one full rest day where they and a buddy could visit anywhere they wanted, provided they stayed within three blocks of the hotel and called to check in with Bustier every two hours.
The class, used to recovering from terrifying circumstances, had almost completely recovered (as much as could be expected, anyway) from their GothCorp nightmare by the time they returned from Metropolis. Lila had quietly thanked Marinette the day after the attempted robbery, but followed the thanks with a threat to never make her look weak again.
So, suffice to say, the liar was back to her usual tricks after the brief reprieve of the Metropolis visit as well. Milder than usual, sure, but still back to normal.
Meanwhile, Richard Grayson had seemingly spontaneously asked for vacation time in order to help his adoptive father out with company business in Paris. He landed in the City of Lights the same day that the Parisians got back into Gotham. He quickly realized that this trip would take more than just a few days. In fact it wasn’t until Friday, exactly one week after Damian had met his Soulmate, that Dick found the ability to track down the Parisian heroes.
Akuma alert sirens rang all around the city, confirming for the experienced hero that the natives had gotten accustomed to the constant havoc. Those who had been around since the beginning of the Akuma terror ran towards shelters with practiced speed.
It was the perfect distraction for Dick to change into Nightwing and take to the rooftops. Upon reaching the Eiffel Tower, the blue clad hero saw a bizarre scene. A male dressed in an aqua colored, snake-themed uniform and a petite female in a red, black, and gold uniform with a spiral down one leg were facing off against…
A… Giant… Cat lady...
Not even a giant half-cat person. She was a legitimate fifteen-foot tall old lady in classic Cat Lady attire. Knitted cat-embroidered shawl, cat-eared knitted beanie, a crochet needle that she was using to hypnotize cats and change their size and species. Her skin was bright orange with shiny silver tiger stripes, and her face had giant black glasses in the shape of a domino mask.
It was really, really weird. She had two twenty-foot panthers and a lion that was half the size of the Eiffel Tower growling at the two heroes who, surprisingly, didn’t look very affected at all by the fever dream they were facing. Smaller house cats were all slinking out of the nearby streets to ominously surround the two heroes, their eyes all glowing bright gold.
“You know, Chat would be making so many puns right now,” The red hero, Ryujo if Dick remembered correctly, mused as the two analyzed their options.
“He would also be making a lot of ‘family shouldn’t fight’ jokes,” the surprisingly zen male replied, flipping up and out of the way onto a nearby roof. “This should be easy, but I will provide backup if you need it.”
“Don’t worry Viperion, I got this,” Ryuko brushed off. “Water dragon!”
The hero turned into water before Nightwing’s eyes, swirling around the square. The water scared off the smaller cats, and the lion recoiled slightly, but it and the panthers lunged anyway, trying to catch the stream of water. The floating river easily avoided every strike, winding around the old lady’s crochet needle when they weren’t looking and snapping it in half.
A purple butterfly, exactly like those Dick had seen in the videos he and the others watched as research and exactly how Marinette had described them, fluttered out of the broken object. A quick flash of yellow darted onto the scene, a bee-themed woman carrying an ornate pot with Chinese engravings on it flew over and trapped the butterfly in the pot.
“There!” She said triumphantly, smiling wide. The crazy cat woman faded away, shrinking down into a cute little, completely normal, old lady with her gray hair in a high bun.
“Oh dear,” she brought a hand to her cheek. “Where am I? What happened?”
Nightwing watched as the heroes comforted the victim, watching as Queen Bee and Viperion left in one direction and Ryuko, whose choker had started beeping, left in another.
He followed the two paired up heroes.

I’ve seen a lot of misinformation spread around with people calling Minions by the wrong name. I think its about time someone from the Minions community speaks up and gives a simple comprehensive guide to minion characters. Contrary to popular belief, it is not always easy to identify every single minions! Some minions share the same appearance, or the same name. For example there are two Jerrys and two Carls! But it is truly unacceptable to misidentify the most recognizable minon characters, as they are unique individuals with interesting personalities!
-------------MINIONS ROLECALL------------------------------------------
THE TRIO
The most important minion characters are the trio of Kevin, Bob, and Stuart! If you cant identify these three you really should check yourself!
Tumblr media
KEVIN
Tumblr media
Kevin is identifiable for his height, tall hair, and leadership! He is one of the most determined and heroic minions. He is arguably the main character of Minions, and he lead the quest to find a new evil master after the minions century-long unemployment (in M1).
BOB
Tumblr media
Bob is identifiable for being tiny and bald, and the sweetest minion of them all! He also has heterochromia. He is a product of the quirky cute craze in the early 2010s, but is honestly written pretty endearingly in recent movies. He had a corruption arc where he became the king of England (in M1). His teddy bear is named Tim, not to be confused with the minion Tim, who I mention later.
STUART
Tumblr media
Stuart is identifiable for having one eye and combed hair.... Oh dear, how do I say this. He is an arrogant.... floozy..... And he frequently shows his minion butt on screen. He also has a bit of an artistic side and can play any type of guitar. Notably, he, along with Dave, are the only two minions to never have been turned into a purple “Evil Minion” (in DM2).
OTHER MAJOR CHARACTERS DAVE
Tumblr media
Dave doesn’t stand out very much visually and personality-wise, he is your standard minion, but he is very iconic! He has two eyes, is an average pill-shape, and has combed hair. Along with Stuart, he was never turned into a purple minion. He is also one of the only minions to never quit their job, along with one of the Jerrys (in DM3). He is also a little bit of a floozy like Stuart.
MEL
Tumblr media
Mel is identifiable for his one eye and friar-type-hair. As the current head of the Minions, he is the one who rallies the minions to speak up with their grievances (in DM3), which inevitably causes them to rebel and temporarily quit their jobs. Despite this, he sees Gru as a father-figure and loves him very much. He is a very complex character and one of my favorite minions.
OTTO
Tumblr media
Otto is EXTREMELY identifiable (if you misidentify him I honestly dont know whats wrong with you). He has a very wide and tall shape, has a tiny sprout of upright hair, and has braces. He also has an extremely-fast-paced speech pattern. Sadly the narrative is rather mean spirited towards him, as all the other minions and Gru are easily annoyed at his presence. Despite being an air-head and making mistakes for the sake of plot, he tries his best to right his wrongs and deserves better!
OTHER NOTABLE CHARACTERS JERRY AND JERRY
Tumblr media
YES they are different characters. YES they both have the same name. It happens in real life too, deal with it. Jerry (left) likes to play golf. Jerry (right) is one of the only minions to not temporarily quit their job, along with Dave. Just wanted to clarify this.
TIM
Tumblr media
Tim looks the same as Kevin, but they are NOT the same character. Tim commonly dresses up as a Father when he goes on undercover missions (he does it in DM1 and DM2.) He is also one of the minions who appears in the iconic credits sequence of DM1, along with Carl and John.
TOM
Tumblr media
For those wondering who the Maid minion is, his name is Tom. Some media accidentally mislabeled him as Phil, but Phil is actually the one who dresses up like an infant and gets inflated (in DM1). DONT BE LIKE THESE FOOLS. DONT CONFUSE THE BABY MINION FOR THE MAID MINION.
Tumblr media
(image of Phil moments before the incident) -------------------------------------------------------------------------- There are many more minion characters! But these were the ones I felt like are most iconic and important to the plot! Please learn your facts and stop incorrectly identifying minions! Thank you!

So I had this idea a while ago, to do little reviews for all of Tim Meredith’s songs because I feel like there isn’t enough love out there for them. So last week I decided to just Do It. I finished (including the two new songs he just dropped yesterday) I have it here under a readmore, or if you would prefer, you can just read the gdoc here, I only did the songs that were listed on his bandcamp (which you should absolutely go to) even though there are a few extra early ones on his youtube.  These were written in no particular order, basically whichever song I happened to click on next. Anyway, feel free to read and spread the word.
How to even describe Tim Meredith’s music. The way he can adapt to different styles and genres is honestly impressive. It’s probably got something to do with the improv background but it’s amazing how he can just … choose a style and write an incredible song for it. Everytime he drops a new song I am always impressed with what he has managed yet again.
Disclaimer: I don’t have any musical education except being friends with multiple musicians for many years in which only small amounts of information have managed to seep into my adhd addled brain. So I apologize for the lack of musically correct terminology, this is a work of appreciation, not technical prowess. Also lyrics are generally the last thing I hear, so I may mention them here and there, but they aren’t my main focus for this.
Always Here
I can’t quite express what it is about this song that I adore, but it absolutely has something to do with the deep rumble of the bass and the way it drives the song forward relentlessly. The effect on the vocals only adds to this. The fact that it goes minor definitely caters to my tastes specifically. The high tones that come in during the bridge have such a Bowie quality that is delightful and a perfect contrast to the rest of the song. (artwork: the mossy greenery adds such a vibe to the song)
Don’t Look to Me
This has been one of my favorites since it aired. The high vocals of the chorus, with the overlapping harmonies are beautifully done and how they are placed over each other makes me think of something being sung in a large hall or church, big and echoey. Additionally the offset of the lyrics “it’s what you chose” (and to a lesser degree “any other way”) makes it feel like you’re being surrounded, like its multiple people telling you this is what you chose, what you wanted. I adore how the vocals trail out with the music at the end. (artwork: the hot pink neon feels so right for the feeling, the tiles adding to the echo)
Sweaty (Near You)
I know this one was controversial at the release, but I honestly could not then, and still cannot understand why. People are honestly sleeping on this song and it makes no sense to me. It’s got a very sensual vibe without gendered lyrics. Sure “baby” is used, but if you don’t think baby could be used for any gender then that’s on you, not the song. The deep base with the sparse instrumentation with a fun noodly solo is just an excellent combination that works so incredibly well. (artwork: the b&w photo with dark maroon text is a perfect combination)
Lucky Boy
When this song premiered my first thought was the entrance song for a villain in a movie. I could see it so clearly in my head. It’s got drive, and movement, and attitude the way it kicks up into high gear into the chorus from the verse with that fuzz guitar. The incredible layers with all the different synth/organ sounds, paints such an image. Nevermind the vocals that fit so perfectly within all that. (artwork: The maneki-neko is such a perfect choice for this)
Numbers and Lights
This is another one I have difficulty describing quite what it is that I love about it. It’s rather lowkey all the way through and I rather enjoy the… almost the stops and starts, the way it gives pause before kicking back in, like the song needs to take a breath before moving on. Again, pretty sure this one turns minor in a way that caters directly to me. Small detail that really delights me is what sounds like the equivalent to crickets under the “Reid asks Reid tells”. (artwork: gotta love biflag color rep. always a plus)
Limb Controller
This song features Amy and was an early favorite of mine. It feels like a song that could and should be played at a disco, just making me want to dance. The synths are perfect and I love how they gain intensity in the bridge before coming back down for the verse. The contrast between Amy’s higher vocals to Tim’s rougher growly ones is a perfect combination. I’ve always loved the “I’ve already let him in, a puppet on his string” moment. (artwork: when videos were still being made, love the scifi vibes)
Never Loved
Another song that is a bit more lowkey, but still comes through with excellent vibes. This one is really all about the syncopation especially with the drums. Which includes the panning back and forth during certain portions, but especially during the time change. I also really love the effects on the vocals. The occasional splashes of a high stringed instrument, and the crash of a forward cymbal really just add to the atmosphere of the song. (arwork: something about being called never loved with what looks like kintsugi just kinda Hits)
Love Your Mind
The repeating pattern throughout this song is just So Good, I love everything about it, and then how other patterns build on top of it? Impeccable. There are so many layers but it's never too much or loses track of itself, never feels over complicated or discordant. I always end up tapping along to the pattern, sometimes difficult to choose which one to follow. This song is shorter, but never fails to make me smile. (artwork: love the chandelier with the many intricate patterns, feels like it matches the song perfectly in that way)
On Your Terms
Oh that bass line. *chef kiss* Absolutely the backbone of the song, helps create the perfect atmosphere for that distorted guitar. Tim always puts a lot into the vocals, but here it feels like there is a extra level of emotion that feels raw. The way the note is held for “on your terms” just kind of kicks me in the chest every time. (artwork: love that the fire is the only color)
Some Thoughts After Consideration
This song truly resonates with me on a molecular level. I have been working in retail for going on 18 years and I just feel this song in the depths of my soul. Something about the wobbly synths and strong beat with the soft vocals are just perfect. The transition to what almost feels like a … big musical number in a theatrical show for the chorus. Like I can just see big spot lights turning on the stage. Perfection. (artwork: can’t go wrong with a squawking seagull, theme on point)
Falling Away
This is another one of my favorites. It’s so soft and gentle, lilting piano blending so perfectly with the vocals, which build up in intensity for the chorus so beautifully. Again, I think this one turns minor key, though I’m not as sure about it as I am with the others. I don’t have a lot of words for this one, but it’s lovely in its simplicity. (artwork: always loved this one for no reason I can really define)
Regret Me Not
I love how this song starts off sounding like something like a medieval march. The most prominent thing about this song is of course those incredible harmonies all throughout. The whole initial build up, and how it switches halfway through is just incredible. There is so much depth in this short song. I don’t always pay attention to lyrics, but when I did look at them I was surprised and delighted by how uplifting they are. (artwork: another older one with a video. I am a sucker for nature anything, and this just being a series of nature shots particularly appealed to me)
Pacesetter
The deep rumbly bass paired with the panning distorted vocals is just an incredible driving force. This song has the kind of beat that will just go on forever. If it were a predator it would be a komodo dragon just relentlessly following behind, never losing sight, always there stalking forward. (artwork: the starting line for a racetrack is an excellent choice)
The Aftermath
This was another early favorite of mine. The mandolin is the star of this song, but it is surrounded by a wonderful arrangement that allows it to be so. The gentle piano with the soft vocals, the shakers and woodblocks all come together beautifully. I always adored the extended pause about ⅔ of the way through. (artwork: this is my favorite video, and I’m sure it took a lot of work to match all the timing so well. The way it ends with the snuffing of the candle 10/10 no notes)
Arcadia
The light bouncy acoustic guitar is so catchy paired with the light and airy vocals, just makes for a lovely song all around. Truly impressive that so much can be expressed with so few instruments. I always find myself nodding my head along to this one. (artwork: makes me think of marshmallow and then want something sweet, but then I remember it’s a rock face and then that makes me want to climb it. Too bad it wasn’t a marshmallow clifface)
Deep Air
This is one of those songs that I love because it’s so out of the usual wheelhouse. It’s chill and wonderfully lowkey, and truly does make you feel like you are just floating around in space. The NASA audio certainly only adds to that vibe. Even with all that I do really love how it still slowly builds towards a big end. (artwork: excellent space vibes, love it)
A Horrid Angry Goose
I remember the goose game stream quite fondly, and this song in response to that was an absolute delight. It’s a fun and funny song, but it also has genuinely fantastic harmonies, and a strong baseline. The build up in each verse into the chorus is just so good. I love how it tells the story of the game, but in such a delightful way. This song is a guaranteed mood boost and I’m so glad for it. (artwork: Goosey perfection)
What It Says About Me
Adore the intro to this, the panning on the string instrument is perfect, and then when the beat drops and everything just drives on. Again, the way the vocals harmonize is impeccable. Truly impressive. Also adore the almost call and response at about halfway through. (artwork: something about the rusted half visible ship feels sad, though I suppose it’s apt for the song)
Unremarkable Sin
The alternating rhythms for this are just so incredibly good, the way it starts and the way it changes when the drums kick in, giving it a bit of swing that is just really great. I really love the gentle vocals for this as well, they fit between the instrumentation so perfectly. (artwork: i love the vague religious vibes, which somehow also translate into the music but in a not actually religious way)
What’s Due
Another one that just kicks ass right out the gate. The rising synths just gives this song such energy. The layered and overlapping synths and rhythms makes it feel like it’d fit right in at a bar or a scene in a movie (bar scene in a movie?) Again the pause about ⅔ the way through adds such drama and it’s absolutely perfect. The processing on the vocals is fantastic and the delivery only adds to the overall attitude of the song. (artwork: bull terriers are one of my favorite puppies and this one is SO cute, bonus points for bi pride colors)
Breaking
The bass line with the panning distorted guitar is such a good combination. That plus the processing on the vocals, creates such a spacious atmosphere that feels melancholy (Though I suppose the lyrics probably add to that feelings). (artwork: love a good seascape, big fan of corals and anemones, and adds to the vibe of having already “fallen”)
An Imagined Sense
Another song that just makes me want to dance, The way this one goes from just a decent beat to kicking into high gear is so good. Again with the excellent doubled vocals/extreme delay just creating such a great balance with the synths. (artwork: the video for this is extremely hypnotizing and feels like you’re being sucked into the song, which feel right)
Walk Away
The really distorted bass paired with the really light piano synth and gentle cymbals is just a really excellent combination. I really love the repetition for the chorus, plus of course the lovely harmonies make for a really lovely chill song. (artwork: Always been a fan of viewing through an opening, but the broken down interior out into the green outdoors is very pleasing.)
Exquisitely Bad
The groove that is set as soon as the song starts is just impeccable. And that groove just doesn’t stop. I love the contrast of that deeper bass with the higher synths that alternate between ears. Something about how the vocals jump up during with the chord progression is delightful. Really just a killer song. (artwork: love the dilapidated house with green font, fit right in with the Halloween premiere)
Horny for Greece
I know this started as a song from stream, but it is genuinely a fantastic song. That funky piano that gives Stevie Wonder Vibes, the niche but perfect rhymes with excellent vocals, the syncopated drums. All just add up to great vibes. (artwork: having the title cut diagonal over the broken section of sculpture is perfection)
The Eventual
Always a sucker for a song with handclaps. Mixed with the woodwind and the harmonica creates such an interesting atmosphere. There is something about the double beat on the drums that I really enjoy. I also love the strong distortion on the vocals, really pulls the room together. (artwork: took me ages to realize the picture was flipped upside down, that being said, it’s still very visually interesting)
Wretched
The slow build with the offset synths that make almost a round, the drums start and stopping before they fade and the beat truly starts is just so good. It creates such tension. I love how the synths create almost waves throughout the song, pulling it along. I also adore the effects on the vocals, just fits so perfectly with the soundscape of the rest of the song. (artwork: it took me a little bit to realize what I had been looking at, but the textures are so good. Fits with the vibes)
More Time
The hard fuzz guitar is such a strong start for this song, paired with the very rock drums is just perfect. Just has excellent classic rock vibes. I really love the depth of emotion felt in the vocals, and the low doubled vocal is a perfect extra layer you sometimes don’t even realize is there adding to it. (artwork: not sure how or why, but the fire seems to just fit perfectly for this)
Can’t Happen Here
I absolutely love the piano intro for this, it really sets the whole mood. I absolutely love the vocals for this song. The almost call and response, the harmonies, just *chef kiss* fantastic. I also really love the fuzz guitar when it kicks in. Ramps the song to a whole other level. (artwork: love the roiling clouds for this one. Yet again, fits the mood perfectly.)
Kennecott
I desperately love the percussion in this song, both the unusual patterns and the sounds used. It creates such a cool landscape for the song. And the interest doesn’t end there. The part where the sound pans quickly from left to right with the rhythm is just so incredibly good. This song is just an experience from start to finish. (artwork: I never quite figured out what this one was, an aerial shot? of the beach? My brain always just made it out to be an abstract painting but I am currently realizing that is incorrect. Still fits the vibe though, feels scattershot like the song.)
On Notice
(sidenote: I have barely listened to this one, because I tend to listen to my youtube playlist, and I found while making this that this song is only on bandcamp, so I haven’t listened to this one nearly as much as most of the others despite it being released about a year ago)
The sheer amount of Radiohead Vibes for this is absolutely incredible, and as someone who absolutely adores Radiohead, I love it. I love how the vocals come in and out, I love the almost droning instruments in the background. Additionally, on the delay on the vocals is fantastic, and I love the pause like ⅔ the way through. Excellent. (artwork: Love the b&w, looks like black marble. Great look.)
Better from Further Away
I love the simple clean (upright?) bass in the opening, with the soft drums. Again, I am a sucker for harmonies and I love them on the chorus. The juxtaposition of the very chill relaxed song, to the somewhat ridiculous (read: amazing) lyrics is very good. (artwork: Love this video, especially the close up zoom on the sheep when they are mentioned.)
Friend of Mine
I love how gentle and soft this whole song is. The piano and soft drums working so well together with the gentle lyrics. I really love it when the piano kind of goes into double time. (artwork: Love a good red sunset. Excellent.)
In The Dark
I love how this starts out with what feels like very 80’s movie synths, and then just shifts into a very chill song. Not sure why but it does give very 80’s Jim Henson vibes. Like I feel this should be in the Dark Crystal or Labyrinth or something. Maybe it’s the lovely harmonies that I can see being sung by small fuzzy puppets. Also I absolutely adore the horns throughout. Perfect 10/10. (artwork: I think 3 puppets should in fact pop out of the three holes to sing those harmonies.)
Now We’ll Never Know
This song is so very pretty. The simple bass and ringing guitar along with the gentle vocals. Yet again, the harmonies on the “oohs” are beautiful and I love them, especially paired with that gently picked guitar. (artwork: love a good dilapidated staircase. The green lettering is a perfect match.)

Will’s life is a chaos.
It’s not just that he’s been thrust into the Witness Protection program, it’s seeing you again after all this time. He hadn’t known that you were back, not before the shooting but now it’s all he could think about. He wonders how long you’ve been back in Chicago. He rubs his hands over his face, palms scratching over the stubble of his cheeks as he looks out of the window of his apartment in Central City, Phoenix.
It’s warm here, too warm and he hates it. He’s a Chicago boy at heart and the heat, it gets to him. He runs the AC 24/7 in a bid to get some relief from the oppressive temperature. He thinks the electric bill will drive the FBI crazy and he takes a sick sense of satisfaction in it.
He knows he has left a mess back in Chicago. He sees the images flipping through his head like some obscene scrapbook.
Natalie crying her heart out on the steps of the church, hands clasped over her heart as she begs for him to explain.
You outside the warehouse, silent and dutiful with smudges of Tim’s blood marring your skin from where Will had touched you with copper-stained fingertips.
The disparity wasn’t lost on him.
Two different women.
One that he was technically still engaged too.
And the other…
A woman he was so frighteningly in love with, it felt like he was being ripped apart all over again when he was put on that plane to Phoenix. The connection the two of you had, it was forged on a deeper level than anything else he’d ever known and that hadn’t changed in your absence, he was a fool to think it had.
After a month trapped here in Arizona, he could see that Natalie had only ever been a placeholder. He had still been hurting. Their first kiss only two months after you’d left. He had still been feeling your absence acutely.
It had started casual, a couple of drinks, then a few dates. He almost forgot about you in the hustle and bustle of his life, the world turned, patients came and went. He was in a good space, looking forward to becoming a husband, and a stepfather when his world imploded. The cracks he had papered over began to show. The foundations of their relationship had been rocky to begin with, he just hadn’t realised how much until he looked back.
There were red flags, little things he should have realised that were indicators of problems to come. Like telling him to shave his beard because she hated it, sneaking out in the early hours of the morning before Owen woke up. Each and very compromise chipped away at his self-esteem because in his heart he knew he wasn’t good enough, but the problem was Will Halstead wasn’t a quitter. He kept on trying to please Natalie, to make things perfect, because perfection was what she desired and living up to that standard meant that she wouldn’t leave him.
When he got caught up with the Burkes and the FBI he had lied. He had kept it all a secret, tried to deal with it himself, because the whole thing, it would have been too much for Natalie. He had done what he could to protect her, and it had all come crumbling down.
He knew it would have been different if it was you. He would have come to you straight away, he would have told you everything, the two of you would have figured it out. Instead, he was here alone in an apartment in Arizona, contemplating all the wrong turns he had taken up until this point.
He should have gone with you to Virginia, but he’d just taken the attending job at Chicago Med and his mentor Doctor Rowan’s health had been declining. It wasn’t the right time. You had understood that.
These thoughts, they went around his head in circles driving him crazy. He was stuck in stasis and the world was carrying on without him. There was no determination of how long he would be here, his life was essentially on hold. He couldn’t progress, he couldn’t move on. He was simply stuck in the moment.
Throughout the day he managed to keep his anxiety under control, but it was always there writhing like a leviathan in the pit of his stomach. At night it was worse. When he did sleep, he dreamt of Tim Burke pulling the trigger, the gunshot reverberating throughout his body as crimson blossomed across his shirt. He could see the smoke from the gun, taste the cordite in his mouth, feel the bullet burrowing into his flesh. He always woke with a jolt, a racing heart and empty lungs as he stared at the cracks in the recently painted ceiling. Sometimes he reached out for you. It was an instinctual, visceral need, a comfort he sought out during his deepest strife.
It broke his heart when his hand hit cool sheets anf he realised you weren’t there, that no one was.
Big Fan of Will! Get added to his tag list!

Epica's Simone Simons: "I've been called the metal Barbie, but I don't give a damn"
Simone Simons talks Disney covers, pastafarianism and how Epica worked out their collaborative EP The Alchemy Project.
Tumblr media
For 20 years, Epica have been flying the flag for bombastic, extravagant symphonic metal, with the visuals and ambition to match. Their new collaborative EP, The Alchemy Project – featuring the likes of Myrkur, Fleshgod Apocalypse and members of Soilwork and Kamelot – is possibly their most ambitious work to date.
We put your questions to singer Simone Simons on what it was like working with Uriah Heep, playing shows in Mayan ruins and that time she (almost) joined a black metal band.
Wikipedia says you joined a black metal band for a cup of coffee before you became a member of Epica. If true, what was that band like? How was your corpsepaint game? Matt Mills, Twitter
“Wikipedia is wrong! I never joined a black metal band. I was just there during a rehearsal, but never actually sang in the band. I went there to have a look, so it’s a half-truth, I guess. They were in my hometown and my friend’s boyfriend was playing in that band, so that’s why we went, but I was way too shy to sing along. Epica was my true first band.”
How did the band initially meet? Scott Thrower, Facebook
“I knew Mark [Jansen, guitars/vocals] because I was in a relationship with him back in the day. He started a new band [after leaving After Forever] pretty quickly, but because I was his girlfriend, at first I didn’t want to join. I helped them search for a singer. I thought I should do it by the book – finish high school and then go explore the world with a metal band. But when they asked me if I wanted to [sing for them], I thought, ‘OK, let’s just give it a go.’ And here we are, 20 years later!”
Was there ever an aesthetic pressure to fit into the more gothic side of symphonic metal? Jazmin L’Amy, email “Not really, I’ve always done my own thing. I’ve enjoyed the visual aspect of being in the band, getting ready for the show, designing the clothes and everything like that. I’ve been called the metal Barbie, but I don’t give a damn. It’s more like a compliment than people realise! The aesthetics are a big part of our shows, photoshoots and videoshoots that people don’t really think of, and it’s a lot of fun to do it.”
Consign To Oblivion is one of my alltime favourite records. Have you ever visited a Mayan ruin, and would you do a 20th-anniversary gig from one? Jo Cristobal, email
“I think Mark did, I didn’t. Playing a show from one is probably going to be a little bit tricky with electricity and everything, so… ha ha! Maybe just an acoustic song or something like that! But Mark’s visited some ancient Mayan sites in Mexico – he was also the one who was interested in ancient Mayan culture and wrote lyrics about it.”
What topics would you like to explore in the future when writing new music Arley Rosales, Facebook
“I don’t think too much about it. I just go with the spur of the moment: what’s happening in my life, what’s happening around the world… [2021’s] Omega was a very spiritual album, which was also a reflection of what was happening at that time. So I guess [our new music] is just going to be a continuation of that.”
Epica albums often have a central concept or overarching narrative, like [2007’s] The Divine Conspiracy. What’s the most innocuous conspiracy theory you think might actually be true? Dan Hillier, Facebook
“I’ve no idea! I’ve been off the religion train for a long time and unfortunately only had unpleasant experiences. I’m in no way anti-religion, though. The Divine Conspiracy was more about extremities within religion – the dangerous parts where they really indoctrinate people and put really weird ideas in their head.
Religion can be a beautiful thing, but a lot of bloodshed has been in its name. With that album, we picked different extremities within different religions to highlight what’s been going on and what’s still going on. But yeah, it can be very dangerous, as we’ve seen lately.”
Hammer: is there one outside of religion you like?
“The church of the spaghetti monster… what’s that called?”
Hammer: The Church Of The Flying Spaghetti Monster.
“Yeah, I love spaghetti. So I guess I’m not allowed to enter that church. Maybe I’m the spaghetti monster! Ha ha ha!"
The Skeleton Key encapsulated all that defines Epica as EPIC! What was the idea behind the song? Inn Ayyur, Twitter
“Skeleton Key was written by Rob [van der Loo, bass], and the working title of it was ‘Inception’. Rob is a huge movie soundtrack fan; I am too. He showed me the song during our writing sessions for Omega and the lyrics written by myself are basically that everybody holds the key or the answers to the questions that you have within yourself and that you can unlock different rooms and hallways within yourself. On the one hand, that can be a good thing, but it can also be bad because you also have the power to let your demons free.”
What songs from recent movie soundtracks would you play live? Mark Sayce, email
“We’ve done that in the past with [2009 live album] The Classical Conspiracy and, funnily enough, today I was singing some Disney songs. I’ve done a cover of a Disney song from The Little Mermaid [Part Of Your World, released in 2021]. Maybe something else is gonna come up, you never know!”
Where did the idea to do The Alchemy Project come from? Jac Holloway, Facebook
“The idea was from Isaac [Delahaye, guitar/backing vocals]. At the beginning of the pandemic, he had the idea of writing songs with our friends in the metal scene. We reached out to all our friends who’d be interested, and that’s literally how the ball started rolling. It’s cool when you have this idea and you don’t know if it’s gonna work, because this is a little bit outside of our comfort zone. I think a lot of people will be very surprised with some of the songs that are on this EP.”
How did you get Uriah Heep on the EP? Elliot Grimmie, email
“Epica always like to add a couple of elements of surprise. That was also part of the idea behind this EP – that we could experiment! Rob has connections to a lot of musicians that are not necessarily in the symphonic metal scene, and Wake The World was one of the songs we started working on when we first had the idea, but didn’t really push the project through.
So that song was one of the first we started with. I rewrote it to fit the vocal lines, but had the idea of what Phil [Lanzon, Uriah Heep keyboardist/co-vocalist] wanted to say in the back of my mind. It’s a really cool addition having him there.”
What was your favourite bit about working on The Alchemy Project? Paul Baptist, email
“I wrote a song with Charlotte [Wessels, ex-Delain vocalist] and I had a lot more input in the composition compared to what I normally do when writing for Epica. This time, I got to direct the song and it was really nice to work with Charlotte. She’s been putting out some great work recently since she started her Patreon and I really love her solo songs.
We started going through ideas that she’d accumulated and I picked the melodies that she had lying around for Sirens - Of Blood And Water. We worked on that for almost a year, but working together was great. I was in her studio, she was in my studio, so it was a really intense writing session for this song and I really love how it turned out.”
Who is on your bucket list to collaborate with? Lisa Aliss, Facebook
“There are a lot of artists! I really like Aurora. She’s a Norwegian singer/ songwriter who writes beautiful songs and has a really beautiful voice – I think we could be a good match. I would also like to work with Rammstein one day – that’s on the bucket list.”
Could you ever see Epica doing an arena headline tour? Emmy Willets, email
“Maybe. I went to see Iron Maiden with Within Temptation and it was amazing. I prefer doing smaller shows because the interaction with the audience is just different and it just feels more cosy and intimate than an arena. Who knows, though. Maybe someday!”

Reading Robins. I know it's not popular but I've been enjoying it so far.
Tumblr media
I managed to ask Seeley about what inspired Anita during an AMA and he said he wanted to flip the script: everyone's told stories about the bad of being a Robin, nobody talks about the bad of not being a Robin and that's what she represents. It's meant to show being robin in a different light than we're used to.
Tumblr media
An interesting page.
Tumblr media
An interesting show that Anita has tucked herself inside the Batcave and has access to everyone's secrets. I do think that Damian here is doing sibling joking over threatening, this book has been really focused on the familiar bonds so...
Tumblr media
I do appreciate how much Seeley is presenting Dick as the experienced, smart one. But also giving Steph experience and value on the team!
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
The silly tone of this book does wonders for it.
Of note here: they're technically here to save some villians that Anita kidnapped to use as live bait for the Robins. This leads to:
Tumblr media
The most beautiful panel of Dick EVER. Plus seeing Tim removed from Bruce and being far more morally grey and ready to not save the bad guy. I do think this is pretty damn in character for the guy. I do appreciate Rivas delivering some amazing art on the second page, fucks expression capture the mood perfectly. However I really am interested in the point being dragged up here: Tim's argument of the rules of robin being defined by being Dick is really interesting.
Tumblr media
Genuinely some of my favorite Tim in a while. He's not perfect, he's not the bestest boi of the batfam: he's hit headed, he thinks he's invincible and perfect, hell he thinks he can beat the rest of the Robins in a fight. He's the teenager here! Pure stupid testosterone teenager! Plus you see a hint of the fact that this guy is the only one who actually has privilege to throw around. This feels VERY rich white boy the way he's acting in a way that I think most people forget. Over all Seeley captures Tim in an aspect that I wish we saw more often.
Additionally, we see evil-Tim™ pop up from under the surface. It's no secret that in most futures Tim becomes an evil Batman who kills anything that gets in his way and I can't help but feel like Seeley is hinting at that future here.
Tumblr media
It is important to note that this takes place AFTER Zdarsky's Urban Legends 1-6, which means Jason is actively currently trying to make amends with Bruce, and viceversa. A reminder to that Jason often is portrayed as the mirror to Batman, with Bruce often describing Jason pre-death as a happier, kinder version of himself. Even after, Jason tends to mirror Bruce a lot more than the rest of the fam bar Cass. I think there's something to be said there about how Tim made this big deal about Damian telling him he'll never be batman, saying he'll make sure the criminals die, and Jason being the one specifically to stop him.
Also AGAIN with Steph being shown to pull her weight on the team! Look guys! It's the bare minimum that we ask DC for!
I hit image limit, sadness. RB coming.

Pierced by a Golden Soul
Chapter 12. Picture This
Platonic Jojo's x Reader
Summary: Fate is a bizarre concept with countless more bizarre implications. In life sometimes such extraordinary events happen that the only reasoning left must be fate. The tragedies that constantly befall the Joestar bloodline for example may be the unluckiest series of cards drawn in human history, or perhaps the work of a greater power. There is no way to tell for sure. Had Dio Brando or Jonathan Joestar moved slightly on a divergent path the world itself would be left very different. The fate or luck of the noble Joestar bloodline has led to destruction of evil likes of the Pillar Men and DIO. This story is of a similar caliber to that of the other Joestars (as I am sure you are familiar with them). This is a story of lost souls, compassion, hope, and above all fate.
Word Count: 1,877
(Crosspost from Wattpad, full fic is already posted there.)
You picked up the photo, peering into its darkened surface as an image slowly came into focus. It was.... you? The photo showed you sitting on the couch with Learco looking over your shoulder. You slowly turned your head to see the he was indeed right behind you. Honestly, you had forgotten he was even there. So, what was Hermit Purple trying to tell you? Learco hadn't seemed like much of a threat so far. Had you misjudged him?
Before you could make any kind of protest Jotaro took the photo from you. He stared at it confused before handing it back. Jotaro looked annoyed and perhaps a bit disappointed.
"It was a good try. You should go home kid, its getting late." Could he not...see what you were seeing? It somewhat made sense given neither Jotaro nor Joseph mentioned the anomaly in the picture.
"Can I keep this?" you asked, holding up the photo.
"Sure. Go ahead." Jotaro shrugged. You carefully folded it and slipped it in your pocket.
You thanked Jotaro and Mr. Joestar for their time before meeting Jaya back in the hallway.
"How'd it go?" She asked as you walked out of the room.
"I found out a whole lot of nothing." You took out the photo and handed it over to Jaya, "Can you see anything in this picture? Anything unusual?"
"It just looks like a picture of you with a black background." She said, handing the photo back.
"I was worried you'd say that." You mumbled, examining the photo and running your thumb over where Learco was. "I'm starting to think all this stuff is driving me crazy." You put the photo away again. "Maybe I'm just seeing things."
"I guess this is where we go into a life lesson about how 'you are the key to your own power'?" Jaya joked, trying to lighten the mood.
"I should probably focus on what happened with Tim today anyways." You sighed.
"There might not be any school tomorrow because of the electrical problems. What are you planning to do?"
"I'm not sure yet." You admitted as the two of you neared Jaya's flat.
"Let me know if I can help with anything." Jaya lightly pat your back. "Good luck Jojo."
..................................................................
"Well that went just great, wouldn't you say so?" Learco griped as you walked home. Ignoring him, you thought about the photo again. You had given Learco the benefit of the doubt thus far, would he tell you more about himself if you asked? At the moment you were having trouble deciding if it was a mistake to let him stick around in the first place.
"Just give me the rundown on what happened with Tim earlier. You did see the whole thing, right?"
"Oh that. Like I said, it was pretty pitiful to watch. His stand doesn't look too tough, it wrapped itself around you. Once you were knocked out it started going around shocking everyone in sight. A little while later Timmy ran off somewhere." Learco explained as he lazily floated by your side.
"Timmy?" You asked, looking over to Learco, confused. "That's a rather....endearing nickname."
"It's not supposed to be." Learco rolled his eyes.
"Hang on." Finally you were putting two and two together. Blake and a few other people around school called Tim by that nickname. "You didn't bully him before, did you?"
"Call it whatever you want." Learco waved nonchalantly.
"So you did bully him." You stared at Learco in disappointment, but he avoided your gaze.
"You can't tell me he's not an easy target. I stopped messing with him because he's low hanging fruit." Learco gradually started moving ahead of you. It may have been your imagination, but it seemed like he wanted to brush past the topic.
"And you don't feel bad about that?" You continued, not entirely sure what you wanted Learco to admit. He glanced back at you for a moment, a glimmer of remorse behind his eyes.
"In between the two of us?" Learco turned away from you. "Maybe.... Maybe I regret it." His transparent shoulders sagged a bit as he kept moving ahead of you. There was definitely something lurking under Learco's surface that you hadn't noticed before. "Or maybe I don't." Learco's inflection sounded angry now. "Who knows." He spat. Whatever it was Learco was trying to cover up, it didn't seem he would share with you anytime soon. The more you spoke with Learco, the more confusing his character became.
You stopped for a moment, watching carefully as the ghost floated ahead. Perhaps at first you doubted your instinct that he wasn't a bad guy, but now you were starting to see Learco's true colors. You weren't going to try digging any further into Learco's problem for now, but you still needed to know about his relationship with Tim.
"Just out of curiosity." You ran to catch up with Learco. "What made Tim so...easy to hassle? Especially recently."
"Plenty of things. Guy's a complete weirdo. Always secretive, pompous, and quiet. He carries around a notebook like- religiously. I swear one time I saw that thing had a hit list in it or something."
"A notebook?"
"Oh, yeah. He didn't have it with him today..." You stopped in your tracks when the pieces came together in your head. "Which is actually pretty weird." Learco continued. "I don't think I've ever seen him without it..." He trailed off, watching curiously as you started running. "Hey! What's your hurry?!" He yelled, but you didn't slow down to answer. There were some scraps of paper sitting on your desk at home that you desperately needed to investigate. Learco didn't follow as you left.
...........................................................................................
After giving your mother a very brief greeting, you made a beeline to your room. The other night when you saw Tim at the boardwalk you found several papers. You kept them out of curiosity but now you were realizing their importance. Carefully, you laid them out in front of you. They had been soaked so most were damaged beyond recognition, but there were a few that were salvageable. Spread across the pages you found lyrics, notes, poems, and other various small windows into a very creative mind. You knew Tim had a passion for music, but not like this. All of Tim's writing had a solemn and lonely undertone. Only now were you realizing that Tim's solitary personality may have been a result of other people's actions. After reading over a few more of the pages you came across one very different from the rest. It looked like a mix of a diary entry and poetry of some kind.
'Monsters. They pick and prod at my sides, leaving me defenseless at every turn. They're vultures, all of them. Every. Last. One. If I could do something, I would.
They steal, they lie, and worst of all, they pretend to care.
If just one person could show them, they aren't so high and mighty, maybe things would change. If I could steal what they love, like they did to me, I would.
I still can't believe they stole it, those brutes thew it into the janitor's cleaning cart. I had a year's worth of work in that book. I have this new one, but it isn't the same. It never will be.
I'll get my revenge, one way or another.'
Your eyes lingered on the message. Despite the exclusive use of pronouns, you were able to make some semblance of what was meant. Tim was planning something, even before he got his powers. You had a feeling it had to do with the football team. As cliché as it may seem, the sports players at your school were infamous for ganging up on other students. Of course, not all of them were bad, but even you had been harassed a few times. Football season was long over, so he couldn't be planning to sabotage a game or anything. Your school's team was one of the best in the county, in fact they won the championship earlier in the year. The different possibilities swirled around in your head before finally clicking together.
You ran to the phone in your living room.
"Hello?" A tired voice answered.
"I know where Tim's planning to be tomorrow."
........................................................................
Blake awoke to the sound of running water. He turned slightly on the ragged old couch to face his newest 'friend'. Keicho Nijimira stood at a nearby sink, meticulously cleaning an arrow, polishing its golden surface to a spotless shine. The two of them, along with a few others, were staying in an abandoned and isolated house on the outskirts of town. It was the one place a bunch of teens could conduct themselves without anyone questioning it.
"Remind me again why you shot Buggles with that thing?" Blake groaned, turning on his side to better face Keicho. The older boy didn't turn from his work. Keicho continued scrubbing the arrowhead, despite there being no visible impurities on the metal's surface.
"The arrow seeks out those who have the potential to be stand users." Keicho answered. "It was drawn to that boy."
"Whatever man." Blake laid back down on the couch, closing his eyes to go back to sleep. "Just do your thing somewhere else." He yawned "I need my beauty rest."
"How is Mr. Buggles doing?" Keicho asked, either unaware or ignoring Blake's annoyed glare.
"Martez has been spying on him." Blake sat up on the couch. "Apparently ol' Timmy is just using his power to torment other students." Blake paused, thinking to himself for a moment before saying anything else. "Speaking of Blaze, what's his deal? All the guy's done since I met him is sulk."
"He's distraught over his younger brother being in the hospital. He's not usually so emotional. Not visibly anyways." Keicho sighed, picking up a dry rag and using it to further clear the mirror like surface of the arrow. "I'm not sure what Y/n Jones's power is, but it did a number on Learco."
"Is that why you're so scared of Y/n?" Blake stretched out on the couch, watching Keicho fiddle with the arrow. "They don't know their own power. They can't possibly be that much of a problem." Keicho went rigid at that comment, quickly turning to Blake.
"Listen here you little welp. I've been all across the world looking for powerful stand users." There was anger in Keicho's tone, but the slightest bit of desparation hidden in his eyes. "I refuse to let anyone get in my way. I refuse to let even the tiniest threat slip past me."
"Cool." Blake said, truly unimpressed. "That still doesn't explain your interest in Y/n."
"Are you questioning my judgment?" Keicho placed the arrow on a nearby counter.
"Less your judgement, more your motive." Blake tutted nonchalantly as he stood and sauntered up to Keicho. Both teens ignored the clanking of chains and pained moans as they emanated from the next room.
"My motive doesn't matter." Keicho sighed. "Anyways, what if I'm interested in yours. You couldn't say yes fast enough when I offered to elevate you from a simple answer sheet thief. Have anything to say about that?" Blake grazed his finger over the golden arrow's surface, leaving behind a long smudge. Blake discreetly smirked at Keicho's growl of disapproval.
"Oh nothing..." Blake chuckled; having Know Your Enemy make a copy of the arrow appear in his hand. "I just wanna have some fun."

Okay, so... Lestat tried to kill himself for real, and now I’m sad.
Shit... this was hard to read.  I mean, I could tell Lestat was depressed at the end of the first chapter of “TotBT”, but I didn’t guess what he actually meant to do when he said he was going to say “farewell” to David.  I guess this really serves to reinforce what I was saying in my last post about Lestat’s guilt, about how it’s just as immense as Louis’.  And then, of course, Louis never really tried to kill himself, at least up to this point in the series, and that speaks volumes about Lestat’s depression.  Even if he didn’t really believe the sun could kill him anymore, still, he didn’t know, and he made the very real attempt to end his life. And that whole scene with him going up to the edge of the atmosphere, letting the sun hit him full blast and then falling thousands of feet to the earth... well, needless to say, I wasn’t prepared.  Just when you think Lestat can’t break your heart any further, he does just that.
I think what drove the spike into my heart all the more is what Lestat says to David before making the attempt, asking him about the tiger, about whether it was “fun” to kill it, and David hesitating to answer, because he knew it would just feed into Lestat’s reasoning for wanting to die.  When he finally admits it was fun, because the tiger had been a man eater, that it had eaten children, that was just like a gut punch, because of course you knew Lestat would only be able to see the parallels with himself.  He even says “Ah, well, then we have that in common, me and the tiger.”  He really is a hurtin’ unit here.
Running alongside all of this is Lestat’s guilt for tempting David to become a vampire out of his own loneliness, out of fear of losing his one, mortal friend, making David more and more aware of his own time running out.  And then his guilt over Claudia, rearing it’s head full force it seems.  Lestat’s visions of Claudia here are truly poignant and heartbreaking, and I’m guessing might play a more significant role story wise as the book progresses.  Particularly moving was during Lestat’s fall back to earth, with the sun burning him, how he saw and heard Claudia, her telling him “Not yet.”
Also, it killed me when David, attempting to persuade Lestat against his suicide attempt, tells him he’s the only friend he has, that he needs him, and Lestat thinks of that as tragic, and thinks he wants to apologize to David for everything.  Because that really feeds into the main tragedy of all of this, which is that Lestat thinks of himself as a worthless monster, whose existence can’t possibly hold any real value to anyone or anything.  At the end of chapter 3, when he says “Why would anyone want me to live?”  that’s the real killer, that’s the deepest tragedy of Lestat right there.  It’s reflected too in Lestat’s theory about Rembrandt, the story he came up with about him selling his soul to the devil, but finding redemption through the creation of his paintings, when he says “Now if I were mortal, I would write a novel about Rembrandt, no this theme.  But I am not mortal.  I cannot save my soul through art or Good Works.  I am a creature like the Devil, with one difference.  I love the paintings of Rembrandt!  Yet it breaks my heart to look at them.”
Because it’s so true to reality, to real-life depression, to people who suffer from depression.  Despite people telling them and showing them that they’re wanted and loved, that they’re needed, the person just can’t believe it, not because they don’t want to, but because they simply can’t.  Their own, negative self-image and beliefs about themselves make it impossible.  And that’s Lestat here.  David tells him, after Lestat comes back to his home, the sun and fall having failed to kill him, there are “others” outside his house, meaning other vampires, wanting to make sure he’s alright, and Lestat wonders “Why would they care about such a thing?”.  He asks Claudia’s apparition, “But why?” when she tells him it wasn’t his time to die.  We see David caring for Lestat in his weakened and agonized state, laying a blanket over him, closing the curtains so no sun can come through, and telling him to rest, and he feels Claudia touch his cheek as he falls into unconsciousness.  People care for and see value in Lestat.  He just can’t see it in himself.
This truly was a heartbreaker to read.  So far, I think this book is excellent.  It’s moving and poignant and deep and such a true expression and reflection of such serious, real life issues.

Fantastic surprise today! What a thing to find on Christmas morning!

youtube
- Little bit of old school Tim Key’s style of play in this one. Stubbornly insisting that an image is anything he makes up in his head. Swearing up and down that you cannot get your head inside a town. Explaining his category through a needlessly convoluted route that involves cookie cutters.
- Stewart Lee: fucking with Mark Watson from 2009(-ish, not sure exactly when he started that routine) to 2022.
- Alex Horne lip synching to the barks of his dogs is somehow something that I can’t believe hadn’t happened on this show before.
- “Charlie Bucket. No more people with a last name you can put your head into.”
“Name another.”
“Bin Laden.”
I laughed so hard I worry I woke up my grandfather, who’s sleeping in the next room. But I think that might still not be as as hard as I laughed at Mark Watson explaining that he was going outside to ask random people on the street if they associate Stewart Lee with bacon.
- This episode was heavy on what I think is my favourite running bit they do, which is that when one person does something weird, the others say, “Oh right,” or, “Oh yeah,” or, "Oh, sorry," as though they’d missed a cue to do it at the same time, and then they copy it.
- I’d never actually seen Alex Horne’s wife before. Is there a non-weird way that I can say he’s done very well for himself?
- When Mark Watson is still in and someone says something challengable but he doesn’t want to let on before their turn ends, his strategy is to really obviously look anywhere but at the camera, like he knows he has no poker face but thinks if he can’t see them then they can’t see him. When Mark Watson’s already out so it doesn’t affect him anymore, but Tim or Alex says something challengable and he sees it before the turn ends, his response is to excitedly stare straight at the camera with a huge grin of anticipation on his face, waiting for the turn to end and the challenge to be called.
- I enjoyed the Taskmaster reference, especially since it came in the form of Mark Watson pointing out that actually Alex, it isn’t so easy when you’re the one who has to spot small differences in the physical appearance of your longtime friends (ie. they unrolled an extra centimetre of their hat, or they turned into a different person), now is it?
- We have the continuation of the earlier discussion of what Taskmaster contestants Tim Key has and hasn’t touched... sort of. This one being about whether, while recording a radio show, he technically touched Bridget Christie, or did a character named Tim Key touch a Bridget Christie character? Shit gets philosophical on the YouTube parlour game Christmas special.
- All three were wearing some top-notch shirts this episode. Four top-notch shirts, if you count Mark’s sweater that he’d covered in shaving cream again and took off partway through.
- What does it say about the sport of snooker that they were that surprised to find out a professional athlete is in fact in good physical shape?

I am someone who absolutely believes in the shortest family member Tim Drake
Even Cass and Steph are taller than Tim, at least close to 5 centimeters in length
And the girls often use this advantage by putting their chin or their heads between Tim's hair
Of course, since the height difference between them is not so much, they need to stand slightly on tiptoe while doing this, but this is not something that stops either of them
Tim's hair always smells with a different aroma. Since he doesn't go to the grocery store to buy shampoo for himself, he usually uses anyone's belongings that are in the bathroom at that moment. And since everyone likes Tim to smell like them, if they're acting by watching his bathroom hours, it's not a very important information
Bruce uses his tall stature advantage mostly to stroke Tim's slightly wavy hair when he comes out of the bathroom. He chooses the shortest but still effective way because of his structure, which still cannot decide what he should do about physical contact
Of course, there are also cases when he holds the boy when he is very tired, but this is more related to the fact that Tim is a very thin person
He has strong muscles under his weak-looking body, but it's never noticeable in the moments when he's standing next to Bruce
Dick is very fond of burying Tim in his chest. It gives a separate happiness to watch the stress in his body gradually disappear as a result of the boy hearing his own heartbeat
When Tim absolutely refuses to get up from the computer and blackness forms under his bloodshot eyes from insomnia, Dick takes the little body in his arms, puts Tim's head on the point of his neck and begins to sing a lullaby. Just like when a mother puts her baby to sleep on her bosom, Tim begins to sleep soundly after a certain period of time
Of course, it should not be forgotten that if Dick tries to leave Tim on his bed, the boy will wake up, so Dick sits in the rocking chair that used to be left in the house, and in that position they both share each other's body temperature until morning, having a peaceful sleep
Jason especially likes to move by throwing Tim on his shoulder. Tim has normal feet for his height, so trying to run away from someone means equivalent to Jason staying too far ahead, so if you see an angry Tim swinging on Jason's shoulder, you need to stop them
Jason also likes to shake Tim from side to side by grabbing him by the armpits
Although he knows that Tim can get into a scratching cat mode when he's angry, the momentary look of surprise on his face is worth the nail marks that will form on his arms later
And although he will definitely be much taller than Tim, Damian has no right to make such moves
Because if he did it Tim's pride can't take that...
Since their relationship has improved over the years, it's not a strange image that Tim is touching Damian
So if Damian made a move that made Tim proud, Tim would go up to the nearest chair and stroke the hair of his younger brother, who was much taller than him
Or if he suddenly becomes full of love for him for no reason he pinches his cheeks
Or jumps off from the chair onto Damian's shoulders when he wants to pick up an item that has been left too high, or when he gets angry, he gets on the nearest climbing material again, hitting the book he picked up very lightly on Damian's head
Although it was a very funny sight for the others, Damian got so used to this situation after a while that he started lowering his body to certain levels depending on Tim's body movements
If he was sulking by looking up at a point, he was preparing himself to hold Tim's ankles or bringing his head below Tim's hand level at the moment of frowning for a hit that never hurt
Or if the fingers of both hands were swinging quickly, he was waiting for his cheeks to be pinched, and when one hand was raised in the air, he brought his head to full hand level
And although everyone loves the fact that being taller and older than Tim gives them the opportunity to embrace his small body, it is inevitable that they will be jealous of the gestures that only belong to Damian
And Damian doesn't hesitate to slap it in their faces whenever he wants to annoy the other family members
Big little brother advantages you know...
🥺🥺🥺🥺🥺tim being the smallest of all the bats and picked up like a little kitty, moved around and adjust, kissed, and rocked to sleep. he's treated so tender and lovingly by his family and then damian!!!! their relationship coming so far that tim shows damian loving affection and kisses his little brother whose grown so much bigger and so tim needs to use step stoos in order to kiss his forehead and pat his head 🥺🥺🥺 and the the imagery of time hopping on damian's back!!!!! this is just so sweet and cute!!! all of them doting on their smallest member including damian who is the youngest but of course he keeps an eye out for his little big brother!!! 🥺🥺🥺
