The thing that gets me about history and humanity is that you never know what is immortalized, and the things that will be immortalized are things you would never think.
I saw a person sharing a new tattoo, and it was one of Onfim's drawings. A boy who lived so long ago he is barely a blip now, but his drawings meant so much to people that somebody is now permanently marked in their skin with one of those drawings. Do you ever look at the things you make and just sit there and wonder if this is the thing that future people look at? Do you ever look at your art, your writing, your schoolwork, or anything that is yours and just wonder who will find it, who will fall in love with a piece of your humanity and become overwhelmed with emotion over? It's not unlikely. It's not totally unlikely that somebody will find a piece of you in the distant future and devoid of any other context of who you were will still love you because you were here. You were here, and you are still here, even hundreds or thousands of years later. Treat yourself with the same love that so many have for dear Onfim.

ughhhhh so probably the tgcf scene i think the most about is in the final battle when hua cheng is holding xie lian and backwards gripping eming with his other hand i . god. this is referenced off of The Fallen Angel by Alexandre Cabanel (i’m pretty sure everyone has seen it by this point) which is surprisingly pretty topical for tgcf.

i think the whole cringe is dead, radical sincerity, depth of genuine emotion, earnest effort, and unironic love thing that tumblr has going on the past few years has transformed my outlook on things and changed me for the better. but it does mean that now the people i know irl will give me strange looks for being too sappy or too poetic or too dedicated or too excited about about something because they're still stuck in their "well i only like this ironically" phase. guess that's their problem tho not mine <3

thoughts on Ginny and Harry as a couple?
There are a lot of people who find their romance in HBP forced. I don't think it's forced so much as underwritten, and the books don't get the chemistry quite right (though the movies certainly don't, either). There's potential, but they just don't get enough actual scenes of substance (besides Harry thinking she's pretty or feeling jealous of Dean) for a lot of readers to buy that they're not only in love, but deeply enough in love to break up, get back together, and wind up married.
That's not to say I don't see the appeal. There's a very cool scene in Book 5 where Harry's doing a woe-is-me-Chosen-One act, and Ginny effortlessly puts him in his place about it by reminding him that she was possessed by Voldemort at eleven, which is a rare glimpse into her character and also a great synecdoche for their relationship — Ginny is a grounding presence who, like Ron and Hermione, isn't going to be awed by his past adventures because she knew him before they happened. In that respect, Ginny's probably one of the few women Harry could feasibly wind up with, because he only ever seems comfortable around people (let alone girls) who can see past the Chosen-One schtick and treat him like a normo (see: Ron, Hermione, the Weasleys, Luna, Hagrid). True to type, he doesn't get interested in Ginny at all until she's ditched her celebrity crush and ceased to view him as an idol, because in his heart of hearts, Harry wants to be a normal boy, and it's stressed over and over that part of what he likes about his relationship with Ginny is how normal it feels. He kind of has a horribly supercharged version the celebrity dating problem: after the Battle of Hogwarts, anyone he meets is going to know him first as Harry Potter, Chosen One, Boy Who Lived, and Actually Fucking Resurrected Messiah of the Wizarding World, which is... I mean, it's possible that there are witches out there who could get over that, but Harry's not an extroverted guy, and I'm not sure how he'd go about finding them. Ginny's the one who's been there since the beginning, doesn't need anything about him or his past explained to her, and actually likes him for who he is.
When you look at it that way, it's not surprising he married his high school girlfriend. She's one of the few people still alive who doesn't see him as a demigod.
#in general I was never one to ship harry with anybody#what I wanted for him was a long quiet life and plenty of therapy#maybe some dogs. i think harry needs dogs and deserves them#The other obvious solution ftr — though not one I think Harry would take — is for him to marry a muggle#though again. you'd run into the problem of how you explain All That#which harry doesn't like to talk about and probably would want to talk about even less as an adult#plus also: harry loves magic. like he loves it loves it#the muggle world for harry is permanently connected with the dursleys and it would take years to break that association#which I just don't think he's going to invest#Harry post-BOH is moving to Hogsmeade or wizarding London or some other magical neighborhood and staying there forever#by the way this post is not anti Harry and Ginny! no hate on the ship I've seen versions of it that are very cute#but I just think their love story needed Sauce#there are also some really interesting posts I've found in Deep Fandom crackship blogs about h/g as Harry's sublimated desire for Ron#now I don't necessarily buy that reading. I don't think Harry is in love with Ron in the original text#I do think he LOVES ron and projects that love onto the Weasleys very quickly ginny included#and I think Ron is his soulmate platonic or otherwise in every universe#so marrying Ginny has like. Implications. vis-a-vis Harry's status as a Weasley and adoptive brother[in law] of Ron#like it's a full-circle moment where he becomes officially legally a member of Ron's family#which I do believe JKR had in mind. even though that basically means ginny's wedding becomes kinda... actually... about her brother...#it's weird basically. my final verdict is I wish H/G had been written by an author who was more interested in Ginny for Ginny's sake.#greenteacup asks

The "fear" they're discussing here is As Nodt...but it's not, not really.
From the moment he adopted her, Rukia lived her life in fear of her brother. He'd elevated her to her new station in life, but from her perspective, he could take it away just as easily-- and she'd be left even worse off then before he ripped her away from her place in the academy, and her only friend in the world. And this never got any better, because Byakuya, either intentionally or because it's just his nature, kept a maximum of emotional distance from her. Until the worst of all possible fears was vindicated, and he was the arresting officer for her capital crime, facilitating her execution.
And then that changed. And as much as Byakuya rightly credits Ichigo for opening his eyes on the whole having-your-sister-killed thing, I think his feelings in Soul Society went beyond shame at having neglected his fraternal obligations. He saw in Rukia someone who bravely faced down an obviously unfair death sentence, who inspired Ichigo and Renji to fight Byakuya at his own elevated level.
And in the time since...he really has worked to be the brother that he wasn't in the past. He shared with her his most painful memories, he hosted her human friend in his home, he helped her (and his own lieutenant!) completely disobey the captain-general's orders, and he placed a priority on her safety whenever she's been in danger.
And now he asks her to defeat the enemy who last defeated him. Fear may be born from insecurity. But with Byakuya's confidence behind her...Rukia isn't insecure at all.

I think the thing that always makes me sad about Light and Aoi’s relationship after the second nonary game, be it platonic or romantic, is that despite their differences they both would’ve done the same thing in Aoi’s position. Like Light will forever have to live with somebody he cared about putting Clover, the person that he loved most, through absolute hell and depression but for a reason that he entirely understands. He almost certainly would’ve put Akane through the same pain if it meant protecting Clover. They ultimately parallel each other by being so selfless that they end up being selfish. The question ultimately becomes whether or not he can forgive Aoi because he would’ve done the same thing, or if he is obligated to hate him nonetheless.

people who see usopp as straight tm and thus free to ignore need to get their biases checked cause that man is pansexual as fuck and they're just looking for a more "acceptable" excuse than racism
Imagine thinking he's straight- Oda didn't make Usopp this handsome for him to be only for the girlies.

I’ve thought about this for years and always assumed that I was overly dramatic or naïve to not want character death in the fictional stories I read, but I’ve come to realize that no, it’s just if the author made me care about the character and they HAVE to die I want it to mean something.
Is this realistic? No. But if I wanted realistic I would turn on the news.
If I can argue a character’s death didn’t actually affect the plot or narrative, then not only does the death feel pointless, so does the entire character. Like you just wrote that character to die or you wrote them and then couldn’t find a way to make them go away.
And in my personal opinion that feels like lazy writing. That feels like the author didn’t plan this out or wrote themselves into a corner, and the second that happens I lose all trust in the author’s ability to give me a satisfying story.
