oscar spent most of his summer (or australian winter) hanging out in cafés and reading. he once wrote a 2,000 words review on the merits of good omens on goodreads, but then got embarrassed and also thought it would interfere with his deliberate choice to not leave any reviews besides stars. so he deleted the whole thing and saves it in a folder for himself instead. one of his sisters once stumbled on his goodreads page by accident. he has tried to block her IP across multiple devices but has largely been unsuccessful.

——————————— the seminar —————————————

we zoom in on Federation Internationale University (FIU), a sunny campus nestled up in the hills of monaco. two students, lando norris and oscar piastri, have made it into their sophomore year.

prof vettel's philosophy 204 module is notoriously hard. both of them have to take it as part of their degree requirements (but for lando, maybe also because he enjoys a challenge).

assignment pairs are set by prof seb early in the semester. lando already knows of oscar, and vice versa, but nothing substantial beyond passing each other in the hallway or the occasional library run-in in freshman year. lando's made quite an impression because he once spent half the seminar chatting about how "young stalin was kinda cute" despite stalin not being related to the philosophy syllabus, and it being totally tangential to the topic at hand. half the class agrees with lando, the other half is too overwhelmed by his energy to argue.

oscar just wants to get on with the work already. he was the best kid at his prep school, the prep school that he moved halfway across the world for at 14 and worked hard at, and doesn't like being distracted from his very important goal of being class valedictorian at FIU eventually.

lando gets oscar's number after class, before they both skirt off in different directions. oscar wants to talk to lando about the assignment, but when lando exits the room he's already off talking to another bunch of friends, and oscar's too awkward to jump in.

lando texts first.

oscar rolls his eyes and gets back to writing his eighteenth century literature class notes.

meanwhile, lando texts max, his roommate and padel bud, about it. max is at a campus hackathon. (max is a junior who has been scouted by at least three big tech firms already, and is on track for early graduation. but lando thinks max has other reasons for wanting to stick around...)

the other thing lando is sure of is that oscar is not in fact better than him at padel. but he is not going to worry about that. or think about how oscar might look, red-faced and flustered and sweaty...

lando's phone pings with social notifications, and the thought disappears.

————meanwhile, the boys do some research——————

and contrary to popular belief, oscar does have some feelings on the matter. he makes these feelings known to his friend logan, one of the few non-europeans on campus who also knows distinctly what it's like when people make fun of his accent. nevermind that everybody has an accent, oscar thinks. the idea of a neutral accent is an arbitrary invention. he'd just rather not expend the energy fighting people about it.

if oscar has any thoughts about how he would feel should lando choose to turn his flirty energy towards oscar himself, well... that is besides the point. because that would never happen. oscar is not interesting, oscar is not noticable. oscar is here to get his grades and move on.

oscar can think of three things that he hates, which he is in the process of overcoming. flight delays, going to the dentist, and now: working in group projects.

but, oscar tells himself, he is a grown man. he's moved halfway across the world to pursue his dream of getting his degree, and then heading on to work in publishing. he tells himself he'll stay focused on this, and nothing else. because pursuing his goals requires singleminded determination. or like the great poet pitbull once said: for anybody going through tough times, been there, done that. every day above ground is a great day, remember that.

so oscar puts his phone face-down on the table. he tries very hard not to think about bee statues or lando for the rest of the day.

(he fails.)

chapter 6) ballin too hard

Warnings: Ricky being a flirt, injury, stupidity.

Yn and her friends walk towards the gym, Anton has his camera ready for the shoot, and hanni was talking about how she was going to beat up whoever this guy was. Yn was just hoping her friends would behave like normal humans.

As they approach, the sound of balls being dribbled and sneakers squeaking against the floor got louder. She turns to her friends again, asking for them to please be normal. Or nice.

Hanni laughs and walks in first, peeking her head into the practice before fully walking in. Yn and Anton follow closely, stares being thrown their way as they proceed. Yn looks around for the tall boy she liked looking at, spotting him as he spots her.

He stopped whatever drill he was doing, picking up his ball and holding it at his side, running over to greet them.

“Yn!” He called happily, bouncing to a stop in front of her.

The grin on his face was wide as he looked at her. He pushed his hair out of his face when she greeted him back.

“Hey, are you staying the whole time?” He asks. He glances at the other two behind her, but doesn’t do much to strike up a conversation yet.

“Oh, yeah, hanbin’s my ride,” she shrugs with a little smile. “And it seems like he doesn’t want chit chat right now,” she points to hanbin walking over.

“Shit, yeah, see ya!” He runs over past hanbin like nothing happened.

Hanbin approaches the three younger and welcomes them. He tells Anton he can set up in the corners of the fields for some of the pictures. Anton nods and walks away to get set up.

“What were you and gyuvin talking about?” He asks and Yn rolls her eyes.

“He was saying hi to us,” she tells him with a little smile. “Don’t worry, I met him like three days ago,” she whacks his arm.

Hanbin laughs as he walks them over to their spot on the bleachers.

For forty five minutes they watch the boys practice, speaking to each other about what the latest gossip is. When break rolled around, the players encouraged them to come talk to them. Particularly gunwook and Ricky. Gyuvin already planned to go talk to them (just Yn)

The two walk over and the guys introduce themselves. Everyone greeted them kindly, Matthew grinning at Yn, asking how she’d been. They chatted for a while, about school, sports, hanbin, whatever. All of them were nice.

“Do you guys know Han yujin?” Gunwook asks and both girls nod.

“He’s on student council,” Yn tells him, looking curious.

“See I told you guys!” Gunwook grinned. “Yujin was friends with me Ricky and gyuvin in high school, he was our little freshman!”

“Aw, that’s cute,” Yn smiled.

“You’re cute,” Ricky said out of the blue and his teammates all looked at him like he was crazy. Gyuvin was near Yn, and was almost positive she could tell his shoulders tensed.

“Thanks, Ricky,” Yn laughs a little. “You’re cute too,” she says kindly and hanbin calls break. They all disperse and Yn and Hanni go back to their spots on the bleachers.

While the other guys are heading back to their spots, gyuvin follows Yn and Hanni quietly. He tugs on yn’s sleeve before she can sit down. She turns to look at him, eyebrows raised.

“What’s up?” She asks, looking up at him. She’s always surprised by how tall he is.

Gyuvin is conflicted- he’s jealous she called Ricky cute but can he really tell her that? Should he call her cute? Should he ask her out?

“You think Ricky’s cute?” He chose none of the above.

Yn smiles a little. “Um, yeah he’s cute, I guess,” she bounces on the heels of her feet. “Why?”

“I don’t really know… I just…” he tries to piece together his thoughts.

“Gyuvin!” Taerae shouts from across the court and Gyuvin decides fuck it.

“I think you’re cute,” he tells her, eyes wide like a big puppy.

“Gyuvin!” Zhanghao shouts too.

Yn and Gyuvin just look at each other.

“Can I get your-“ he starts quietly only to be cut off.

“I think you’re cute too,” Yn interrupted him, looking up at him with a smile.

Gyuvin grins. “Cool,” he forgot about asking for her number.

“Gyuvin!” Hanbin shouts and Gyuvin finally starts heading to his spot.

“See ya!” He grins as he runs back to his spot.

Yn sits down with a big grin, leaning on Hanni while giggling to herself about what just happened. Hanbin would kill her.

By the end of practice, the boys were just playing around, Hanni, Anton and Yn all off the bleachers and chatting around with the boys.

Yn was talking with Gunwook, Ricky and Matthew, gunwook and Ricky being close in age to her with Matthew just being a longtime family friend. It’s a nice little conversation, even with Ricky flirting with her every now and then.

Anton gets some action shots of the boys playing around, showing them to Yn near one of the hoops. He moves to another spot to get a panoramic view of everyone, Yn still in the same spot.

Gyuvin decides now is a good time to show off. He and Ricky pass the ball a couple times, dribbling their ways down court. Ricky first tries to make a shot but fails. Gyuvin makes a swift recovery and makes the rebound. The two boys continue shooting until Gyuvin tries hitting off the backboard.

Unfortunately for him, his aim was off when he threw it and it went flying off the board.

Unfortunately for Yn, it was flying right towards her. There was a loud “watch out!” From Anton across the court before it hit her square in the head.

Ricky and gyuvin stopped immediately, hurrying over as the girl fell back in pain. Hanni was already at her side when they got there, gyuvin kneeling next to her as she cried, holding the spot on her head.

“Shit! Yn I’m sorry-“ Gyuvin said, brushing her hair back as hanni and Ricky hollered for hanbin, who came running over.

“What happened?” Hanbin asks, crouching down.

“Stray ball hit her,” hanni said, not mentioning it was gyuvin. “Can you get her some ice?” She asks and hanbin runs off to go get ice.

“Gyuvin, help her up,” Matthew instructs, which Gyuvin does, lifting her gently and helping her to the bleachers. He sits next to her while Hanni kneels in front of her, wiping her tears.

He’d never felt so bad.

What always baffles me is when people try to argue that Satan and Mammon are the most ‚innocent‘ of the bunch when it comes to s*xual stuff. Like, bro, it is literally canon that when Lucifer and Satan switched bodies Satan and Mammon organized a big party and invited loads of Succubi which I am pretty sure is just an euphemism for an or/gy just to anger Lucifer. (AND considering Asmo went in their stead and came back VERY satisfied, I am most likely right.)

I think Beel's actually the most innocent considering he didn't know what a threesome was?

But yeah Mammon has fucked before - pretty sure it's canon that he slept with Maddi. He's also the one who Asmo took to a lot of his parties (which yeah I'm pretty sure are orgies).

Satan, I imagine has had sex - he's going through his rebellious phase, he knows a lot of people so it's surely come up at some point, his whole knowledge is power thing means he's definitely at least tried it out. But he's also one of the brothers who gets the most flustered when sex is casually brought up - eg: when Mammon says he's MC's first man (in regards to their pact together) and Satan tells him not to phrase it like that.

Overall,

Mammon's definitely someone who has fucked and slept around a lot but has never being in a romantic relationship which is why he gets so flustered with MC - he's actually in love with them and that's throwing him off. You can even notice in canon how he blushes and stutters more when talking about liking MC or even holding hands with them than he does when they're about to sleep together

Satan's probably had sex but personally I don't see it as being a priority to him, maybe it'd happen more often if he's in a sexual-romantic relationship with someone but outside of that I see it as something he'll indulge in somewhat rarely, once in a while, as a stress relief

I thini its p clear i am rly drawn to kinda like. Inc el-adjacent-characters and i think its bc of like. I have adjacent EXPERIENCES to them but my brain just ended up processing it all very differently, and also I had a few meaningful, loving friendships that kept me existing as. Like just a human being and not a machine operating on miniscule cruel rules and assumptions that try to stuff this extremely complex world into neat, fat unwieldy boxes that never satisfy the human soul. I understand loneliness, i understand feeling ugly and unwanted and annoying, but i do not understand hate for the world, I always directed my hate and loathing at MYSELF. Which, even though it has left some really fucked up thinking patterns in my head, in the end, im glad to say, was better, bc i feel like it is easier to deal with. Im LUCKY. To have kept a sense of wonder and love and curiosity for the world, and i view it as a privilege. But characters who feel outside and left outside and make these impossible mind maps trying 2 reason with it and why things are the way they are. R FASCHINATING 2 me. I understand the thinking pattern, but not where it takes, and I have a voyeristic eye for trying to understand it. These people are pieces of shit (which, btw, i think loneliness makes everyone a bit of a piece of shit. Me included. Lack of contact and the feeling of being seen does smth to ur brain that just makes you AWFUL) but man. They r so faschinating in media. That being said irl ince ly types drive me off the wall and even tho i wish i coule have a productive conversation w them i just. 💀 i cant i get annoyed too fast 💀 and angry 💀 like bro everything ur saying is bullshit.
