self shipping is a great way to cope, and it can help a whole lot, but sometimes it’s not what you need. and that’s okay. it doesn’t have to be a linear experience. it doesn’t have to be constant. sometimes you just don’t have the energy or the time or, as upsetting as it might be, the desire to self ship. and that’s okay. because your f/o(s) understand, and they’ll be there for you if or when you return. you will not hurt your f/o by needing a break. they understand, they support you, and they just want you to be happy.

im gonna start making doodles trying to reclaim my TF F/Os that i've lost, maybe once a week or once every two weeks... or once a month?? i dont know, i will try to keep some consistency but i really need to start slow on this. here's to hoping that drawing them every once in a while will make even just the smallest difference.
im so sick of associating these characters with my abuser and i'm so sick of the immediate fight or flight response that i get when just looking at pictures of TF characters or even the voice actors. i have tried just about everything... therapy, medication, exercise, watching a few clips from the shows, buying cameos, commissioning art/fics, talking to voice actors in person at conventions... nothing has helped me get better at all. i tried giving up on TF entirely, throwing out/giving away all of my TF merch, refusing to touch the franchise, but that has only made me more and more miserable as time has passed. it has been over a year since [insert the most horrific experiences ever here] happened to me and since i associated that with a long list of things, TF included. and im! sick! of feeling bad! so! if im gonna be miserable no matter what, then i might as well try to get better, right?? drawing my F/Os loving me has never failed me before, so here's to hoping it isn't gonna fail me now. i am quite the stubborn bitch and i refuse to allow my main coping mechanism i've used for 2 decades to remain tainted forever and ever 😤😤
these will be the shakiest, shittiest doodles imaginable, but i think drawing the robots i miss so much at least once a month can help me rewire my brain into believing they're safe again and they love me and i'm not in danger. i think the best thing that will help me is drawing my Ryan F/Os interacting with them as "proof" that they're safe to be around, that they've "approved of" them, will help me slowly reclaim them. fake it til you make it as they say. let's try this for maybe just a couple of months as a slow start and see how it goes :/
any TF doodles will be tagged as "reclaiming robots tag" and nothing else - free to blacklist it if you dont wanna see. i'll most likely be rarely posting these but jic //shrug
anyway. yay. attempts number one and two. i like to think barbie and ken stop by the starflower meadow every now and then because stsc summons them across the multiverse, asking them how i'm doing, if i'm safe, if i miss him at all. wow i am shaking so bad. ha ha haaa. these took about ten?? minutes?? so woohoo to ten minutes of drawing TF. im proud of myself for trying. even if i dont go through with this and end up not being able to draw TF ever again, at least i managed this one single post. if i keep this up, maybe a year from now, or two years or five years or whatever, i'll be able to handle it. i don't even expect to hyperfixate on TF ever again because my self shipping will never ever be the same w/ them -- i'll never interact with the fandom again, i'll never reblog fanart or gifsets or anything like that ever again, if i even somehow managed to feel good enough to actually throw myself back into the shows -- but i want to think i'll feel indifferent to it one day. to not have that fight or flight response. that is my goal. literally the bare fucking minimum <3
anyway. i'm super nauseous. this is so incredibly hard! holy shit!!! but that's why i have to do this. to quote pedro pascal, i am going to have a panic attack and i am going to leave 👍✨
(BTW I am still gonna stay offline for a few more days. I am back from vacation but I am SO burnt out I don't want to interact with dms/my inbox yet. I just wanted to post this just to get it out of my system and let it disappear into the void. Either way, your romantic f/o's nervous. And by nervous, I mean anxious. Even the most confident of f/os would be shaking in their boots at the thought of standing in front of your parental f/o. Of course they would be, they want to make the best impression, they want parent f/o to like them so you and romantic f/o can hangout freely, even around parent f/o. You reassure them that it's gonna be perfectly fine!.... or maybe that's not the case? Or maybe you didn't quiet see it? Not yet at least?
Because the moment your old childhood house door opens, it revealed a pretty pissed off parent f/o. They are extremely protective of you for a reason, too many reasons or they just adore you that much, you're worth protecting from bozos like your romantic f/o (Parentally speaking!) But they want you to be happy, so they gave romantic f/o the worlds most fake smile. And pretended to play nice to them throughtout the day just for you.
But let's be real for a moment, parental f/o really wants to scream out loud, not just to romantic f/o. But to the world:

im sorry to be harsh but if you make f/o imagines about any serious irl events or tragedies i don't want you to interact with me. i understand people have good intentions but it's horrifying to see someone take devastating things happening to real people right now in real life, and put them into fiction in some cute support way. its not fictional, and should not be treated as such.
if you need a way to cope with what is happening, then this is not how you do it. This is not the right way to cope, nor is it a good way to show your support. there's places to donate to or support to give to people in other ways besides a fictional prompt. It's hard times and I get it - our f/os bring us comfort. But now is not the time for comfort through fictional prompts inspired by the irl situation. Now is the time to focus on the irl people who are affected, or at least to find and create prompts that aren't based on current events.
tl;dr please stop making selfship imagines based on serious, tragic, and or dangerous irl situations, whatever those situations may be. the events aren't fictional, and there is better ways to deal with your feelings and to support others.

i know there's a lot of weight ppl feel to make their self inserts very like gender conforming but in the end I feel, as someone who makes so many s/is who look feminine or use different pronouns despite being trans men or at least masc leaning, that you should just have fun with your designs no matter what. like. I don't like dresses irl, they make me extremely dysphoric and upset...But I love putting them on my s/is, masculine or feminine appearing or even androgynous etc. so i do that. similarly, i only like he/him in real life, but whos gonna stop me from making she/her trans men? nobody. people could try, but fuck those people because its all pretend and is a good way to explore identity. I also have SO much more fun making "feminine" characters than I do masc, and I feel my s/have more life when I don't force a masculine look. but im still a trans man, my s/i is still a trans man, etc. selfship is about being free to explore yourself and also your funky little characters you feel so strongly for, who would accept you no matter what. be free
tl;dr pronouns and clothing and stuff are fake design your s/is how you want and what feels fun and comfortable for you whether or not it appliesto your irl self

AAAAA, thank you so much reffie!!! 😭 sorry it took a little while to answer kjsndfjk -- i decided, though i'm still DEEPLY in ren brainrot hell, that i miss talking about my main man oushirou... so i answered for both of them hehe ^^
🍫 Does your f/o have a favorite candy bar?:
REN: i think both versions of him would prefer something with just a bit of crunch and some other sweet ingredient to match the chocolate, like butterfinger or twix!! he keeps a bag of mini-size bars in his room so he can grab one when he needs a little pick-me-up.
OUSHIROU: not to be all ERMMM 🤓 about this one with him but i imagine he'd be more into like... nice, flavored chocolates? he wouldn't turn his nose up at normal candy bars, but he grew up a RICH household and, if buying for himself, he'd spend more money to get something nicer with more subtle flavors.
...that being said, there is a scene in his "in winter" route where he stays behind at seigetsu after a chocolate hunt? event? for valentines day to find and take any leftover chocolates, so if it's FREE he'll take what he can get no matter the flavor and no matter the effort KJNSDKFJN.
⚔️ If your f/o were a D&D character, what would their class be?:
(i'm not a dnd girlie, so i'm basing all of this on simple descriptions of the classes and a "tag yourself as a dnd class" meme lmao ;;; )
REN: he seems like an artificer! even though r!ren didn't go into the medical profession, he has the same creativity and ingenuity that makes doc!ren so good at his job.
(and he LOVES dnd. he wasn't able to play often as a kid due to his strict upbringing, but doc!ren occasionally joins one-off campaigns online when he has the energy, and r!ren plays with a couple of people from work when their off days line up.)
OUSHIROU: sorcerer! he comes from a family of very successful, very wealthy practitioners of western fortune telling, and he absolutely inherited the gift. 👍🏻
📱 What’s your f/o’s phone wallpaper?:
REN: not to be cheesy, but he'd 100% have a selfie of the two of us being goofy together as his lock screen. doc!ren would use a simple geometric design with a lowkey color palette for his home screen, while r!ren uses a louder, maybe more neon palette with a more complex pattern.
OUSHIROU: he'd also have a selfie of the two of us on the lock screen (though the composition would be more intentional lmao), but his home screen would probably be a flat color for utility's sake; he'd need to be able to flip through apps quickly to take notes, do research, take quick photos of things he doesn't plan to include in his articles but still needs to reference at some point, etc, and he doesn't want a distracting background to slow him down.
he probably WOULD, however, choose a NICE flat color and then fully customize his multiple screens with widgets, dividers, etc... partially to organize his apps for ease of use, and partially bc he can't make it NOT look nice, no no no, he needs his phone to be both useful AND ~*~aesthetically pleasing~*~ 😤

Would you catch and use any of your Pokémon f/os in battle, or do they all run free?
Hmmmm...
Assuming Grovyle, Celebi, and Dusknoir all appeared alongside a human trainer (and then of course Mewtwo, and others that lack tags like Deoxys, and that specific Lucario from the movie) I'm not super sure... On some level, it seems battling is very good for pokemon! A loose version of IRL animals play fighting.
That said, not all pokemon want to battle. I wouldn't even necessarily need them in pokeballs to battle with them earlier, and assuming I was something akin to N where I could at least kind of communicate with pokemon... The possibilities quickly become endless.
I think I'd at least prefer them to run free. Especially in a scenario where person-to-pokemon communication was as smooth as N has it with pokemon. (I am kin with him, so we're gonna go with that actually.) Especially Mewtwo, I cannot imagine him being cooped up in a pokeball... There's something so inherently wrong about that to me. I don't even like the idea of catching him in most games, I just do it anyway so he can be on my team. No other way with how the games are built :(
