Just a PSA, desecrating a Torah is not the same as burning a Bible.
Torahs are not mass produced, and cannot be mass produced due to how specific and strict the rules are for construction. They have to be handmade in a very specific process with specific materials (the scroll must be made of calf skin instead of paper, for example) A rabbi can reasonably spend about a year making a single torah. It must be written by hand in ink, and if a mistake is made on a page, the page must be thrown out and started from scratch. Because of this, torahs are often extremely expensive and delicate, and we have rules for how they are to be held and interacted with so as not to damage them. One of the most important rules is that you cannot touch the parchment of the scroll with your fingers, you have to use a pointer called a yad. This rule is for religious reasons, but also practical ones because the oils on your hands can damage the parchment very easily if touched regularly. That is how fragile these objects are.
In addition, if one is damaged, it is no longer considered kosher and must be replaced. There is obviously a spiritual reason for not wanting a torah to be harmed, but it’s also because they are extremely expensive, often very old heirlooms or artifacts, and handmade art pieces. Desecrating a torah is not just a symbolic gesture of disrespect to Judaism, it is destroying an expensive, old, and culturally significant art piece.
The Christian equivalent would be more along the lines of smashing stained glass windows in a historic church. Bible burnings as a form of protest are almost always done with copies you can buy for $15 at Barnes and noble. It is certainly meant to be disrespectful to the Christian faith, but it is not the same in terms of level of harm caused.
Bible burning versus torah desecration is a comparison made in bad faith I see occasionally to be like “why is antisemitism bad but being mean to Christians is fine?” But I’ve met a lot of well meaning gentiles who don’t fully know the cultural context or significance of the Torah and genuinely don’t understand the gravity of desecrating one.

biscuits and cheese planes and crow calls and cummings
the swallows at the lake are still going ham on something too small to see in numbers too large to believe
the first neighbor i met after moving into this place, he left for an inpatient rehab yesterday. he started crying when he told me what was happening. i knew i should hug him but i didn't want to get burned by the cigarette in his shaking hands. i wish i had hugged him anyway
boba learned how to open one of the treat jars that i keep handy by the couch and i think she gave herself a stomach ache. she has only done it once and maybe i didn't put the lid on right, but trying to do it again has been keeping her busy the last few days
the twins across the courtyard are away shooting a movie and their mom is with them. from the window in front of my desk, i can see their dad and two sisters go a little bit more feral every day
i am in a drone-metal-in-the-woods phase that is as close to a satisfying drug experience as i have come in years
the family that threw the four day wake that i thought was a birthday party are getting evicted, not because of the noise, but because their drunken attempt to release several crates of doves in the middle of a playground resulted in significant property damage. apparently, at one point the minister they hired to speak at the wake called the police on them himself

Why do anti-endos just invent things that aren't there?
Tumblr media
No it doesn't. The word dissociative plurality isn't even a term used. It says that you shouldn't classify these experiences as dissociative disorders, which is true. But one only needs to look at other academic sources...
Tumblr media
And this is just one paper of many. As I've mentioned before, the creators of the theory of structural dissociation have talked about the theory of spirits possibly being "self-conscious dissociative parts of the personality."
Tumblr media
The Dissociation is still different from that in DID, but nobody is arguing that it's not a form of dissociation...
By the psychology community at large, mediumship is viewed as a form of nonpathological dissociation. So is, for that matter, speaking in tongues...
Tumblr media
And I have no idea how in the world this is being twisted to being ableist...
Have anti-endos just decided to co-opt the entire concept of dissociation and declare any psychologists who use it outside of dissociative disorders ableist for how they use psychological terms?
Are the creators of the theory of structural dissociation ableist now, because they suggest spirits could be dissociated parts of the personality?
This is next level silliness, even by anti-endo standards.

"A definition of glossolalia which would be useful to the linguist in the widest contexts is one like the following: A meaningless but phonologically structured human utterance believed by the speaker to be a real language but bearing no systematic resemblance to any natural language, living or dead. This definition specifies three features that appear to be necessary in any definition of the phenomenon: (a) a phonological structure (that is, the kind of patterning of sound generally typical of real languages), which distinguishes it from gibberish; (b) meaninglessness; and (c) value as language to the speaker. Because some utterances apparently glossolalic occur in play, when the speaker knows that he is not talking a real language, we may want to be explicit by adding 'or a language surrogate' to the definition."
— William J. Samarin, The Linguisiticality of Glossolalia, pp. 51–52

“Glossolalia” - Eugenia Leigh
My baby brandishes a wooden knife meant to halve a wooden shallot
as he hollers his newest word. Knife. Look at my son, flashing
his dagger, jamming it into plush animals. Knife, knife. Look at him,
oblivious to the weapons littering his lineage or, God forbid,
possessed by them. Can the babies planted in the dirt of our bodies
absorb the torments buried there? My gentle, watchful child
wants all the knives. But some days, everywhere, blue. The bear, blue.
The bells, blue, the car, the cup, the light. I marvel at my son,
who marvels at the sky—blue, blue— no matter how gray the bully of clouds.
And this is all I want. Look at my son laughing at the rain.
Look how he prods the window with his knife, insisting
we cut up the storm, demanding the blue back into view.

Light Language vs Christianity
Speaking in Tongues Most devout Christians will be so shocked and outraged to read this, they will scarcely believe this to be true. However it has come to my attention that there is a practice which has been growing in popularity in New Age circles over the past few months, referred to as “light codes” or “the language of light,” or some such similar title. Now for a long time, the idea that…

27° Livro do Desafio Leitor Insano 2022 . Teologia consistente e provocativa. Não recomendo para cessacionista Nutella. .
