sys urges lhh to run away, her eyes flashing gold. his murim story was warning him too, if he tries to deal with dansu right now, he'll die. he keeps trying to wake lds up, but he doesn't respond. just repeats "i won't kill you" and "i'm sorry" over and over. from somewhere else in the dungeon, a trap is triggered, rescheduling the dungeon restructuring to 10 minutes(!) from now. the floor starts to heat up, and soon everything will burst into flames.

if he runs, what will happen to dansu? fortunately, there's a message saying that those with the star jewel are immune to the flames. lds is immune to the flames, but lhh and sys are not. they have to leave. before leaving, even if he can't hear or understand, he tells lds. he will find jiyoon for him, no matter what. he will not let dansu die like this.

looking for a safe zone, sys asks if he's close to lds. lhh, to his surprise, immediately answers yes. he considers him a close friend. looking at sys, she's avoiding his gaze, with her eyes again gold for a second. did she usually have those..? (at this point, it's safe to say gold eyes means it's 3!sys). anyway, it reminds him of yjh. where is he? it should have the timing for him to have gotten yoo mia and returned to granghwamun, but there's been no news. no time to think about that now, there's 7 minutes left. they do find a safe zone but.. there are people in there. it's ku taesung, with two others. the zone has a capacity of 4 people. someone has to die.

taesung notices sys then. lhh tries to hide her, but he realizes who she is and tells his men to kill lhh and bring her in (while asking his men if he sounded like yjh, lmao). lhh looks at them, and asks if they were the ones who made lds like that. they call lds an 'offering', and said it wasn't their fault, insulting him-

at that point, lhh snaps. he activates blade of faith and all his skills, killing the two men easily and fighting with taesung. he's stronger than the other two, and as the fight goes on he starts to be at a disadvantage. he tells taesung that he was acting like yoo joonghyuk earlier. and activated the enhanced incite, and even if he can't incite as the yoo joonghyuk at the end of the novel, he picks a line from early in the book

a bunch of other incarnations come over from when taesung had called them over with group chat, as lee hakhyun incites himself as yoo joonghyuk from the time he killed the third apostle. even at this time, where yoo joonghyuk is weaker, it's incredibly hard to imitate him. he starts hearing the voice of breaking the sky sword saint in his head. yjh's memories?

of course it would be hard to imitate yjh. even in just the 3rd turn, he's lived an incomparable life, training in the time fault for 100 years and becoming a transcendent in the second regression. lhh's nose started bleeding, and his head can barely contain the pressure. still, in that moment, he realized who he was. (pspsps look at vy's art)

he incites himself as yoo joonghyuk. anger boils in his head, hatred of the constellations, and thoughts of dead companions and the worlds he has abandoned shackles him. the regressor's curse, that yoo joonghyuk has always lived with. taesung's sponsor warns him to avoid lhh's attack, but he can't. because this attack, it's the most perfect one that kim dokja knows.

I had to force brain to sit down and do the writing thing. It's so grumpy about the fact that it has to make werds happen if it wants to be able to read the story.

I'm making it a deal. One more chapter grouping finished and sent to queue, then I'll let it start officially working on the 1800's AU series. Until then, it's only allowed to put notes in a doc. It has to focus on one thing at a time. It's not happy with that idea.

Fortune's fool?

Our lives are full of moments and cruxes that we attribute to luck; whether that luck is then considered good or bad is purely a matter of perspective. For every player that is dealt a good hand in a game of Tribute, there will be others that will inevitably be dealt bad. For every person in the right place at the right time, there will be somebody who ends up in the wrong place at the wrong time. Whenever I hear the comforting tale of someone unlikely saved, there is also a lament of one who wasn't. Can it be just luck, or is there something more at work?

Take my experience this evening at the Breakneck Cave. I knew its doors were closed a long time before the war began because of the well publicised spider infestation, so it was a surprise as I rode past on my way to Vlastarus in the south to find bandits were guarding its entrance. Of course nothing says ‘welcome, please come in’ more to an adventurer then armed hoodlums guarding a door.

At first glance it appeared the Black Daggers were using the caves as a warehouse of sorts, yet they clearly hadn't overcome the spider problem. However, as I delved further down beyond the crates and barrels it occurred to me that this number of guards for such small amount of provisions was somewhat overkill. And that is when I spied Hegris, the leader of the Black Dagger bandits.

Clearly Hegris is a dangerous man, you don’t get to climb the ranks to become leader of the largest bandit gang in the Heartlands without being ruthless, callous a cut-throat, and perhaps a little lucky; although I am sure this Nord will tell you his luck was simply the warriors advantage. But it wasn’t simply down to luck that I discovered Hegris in the Breakneck Caves today, it was cause and effect. I chose to ride past the abandoned cave, and made a choice to challenge the guards at the door, and Hegris himself chose to visit this very same day, which proved to be his last. Perhaps then this is all luck really is, a cause, an effect, and a matter of perspective.
