man it would really suck if the link to request tv shows and movies got spammed with requests for shadow and bone and six of crows....
that would just be so unfortunate for netflix. such an inconvenience.
it would just be really terrible if this link got spread so people could spam it with requests for shadow and bone and six of crows.

Look, Netflix,
I’m gonna be honest with you. You’ve been on thin ice with me for awhile (ex: Not picking up Prodigal Son, Not rebooting Hannibal, canceling so many shows that were actually good that are too many to name), but canceling Shadow and Bone well… this isn’t going to help our cause but I have a feeling we won’t be listened to anyway so I’ll just say it:
Your incompetent greed is showing and it’s not a good look for you.

sab fandom negativity part ???
(dis)respectfully, i have fully reached my capacity for the dumb fandom behavior. y'all stay doing everything except using ur brains.
there is simply TOO MUCH handwringing over silly, silly shit.
'oh no the writers DARED to make PLOT CHANGES and MOVE THINGS UP or CHANGE CONTEXT ENTIRELY they have ruined EVERYTHING and they are IRREDEEMABLE so HELP the SKY IS FALLING' like. why don't we all calm down, chill out and maybe trust that there is a plan in place for new, exciting things you didn't expect!
"Oh X scene was different it should've been Y instead” WELL MAYBE, JUST MAYBE, THAT EMOTIONAL BEAT WILL (*GASP*) COME FROM SOMETHING ELSE, AT SOME OTHER TIME
also. just because YOU are incapable of imagining something to replace the book plot points doesn't mean the professional fucking screenwriters are.
like, just say ur boring and unimaginative and go lmaooo

Okay but isn’t it like Warrior Nun or something that was canceled by netflix but then due to fan support was eventually brought back or renewed somehow?
I'm not sure, but there have been a lot of "uncancellations," because whether a show is popular has literally nothing to do with whether a streamer, especially Netflix, renews it. SAB was top of the most-watched list for months, had a vocal and dedicated fanbase calling for its renewal, and it was clear that people were interested both in it and in the potential Six of Crows spinoff. But Netflix gonna Netflix, and I don't for one moment believe that "the impact of the strike" had anything to do with it. That reeks of studio propaganda, frankly, to blame the writers/actors for going on strike at all and being the Big Meanies who are the reason (not Netflix's well-established pattern of doing exactly this) they won't get any more of their favorite show. After all, they're only giving up a TINY extra portion of their revenues, there's no actual budgetary reason they couldn't do it, and if it was just because it was popular (which has never saved non-Witcher Netflix shows in the past), they could have renewed it. Instead, this plays very much as a petty "fine, you forced us to do the deal with the writers/actors, but we can still axe boatloads of your favorite shows all at once to punish you, neener neener" power move.
As I said in my tags last night: they didn't HAVE to wait until after the strike to cancel it (and a few others). I realize that shouting at Netflix for dickish cancellation practices is like shouting at the sky for being blue or Republicans for being idiots, but still. SAB was always long odds to get a season 3 just because three seasons means Netflix has to start -- gasp! -- paying people for residuals and streaming, or at least that was the case under the old contract. So it had reached the dreaded Two Season Chopping Block, but if Netflix wanted to cancel it, as they were clearly planning to do, they could have just, you know. Done that. Instead, waiting this long and explicitly blaming "the impact of the strike" sounds, to me, like a great big bucket of passive-aggressive bullshit, and we know they're petty enough to do these kinds of things. So yeah.
Anyway, this means I am in fact going to do the Lost in Wonderland sequel fic sooner or later (Empire of Bones still has first dibs on my muse, I know people are waiting for an Unknown and Static Strange update as well, etc etc). It won't be a full retelling/treatment of s3, but the fact that I can now use other characters in addition to Fivan means that there will be a somewhat broader focus with more plot threads, and it will incorporate elements of what I would have liked to see in SAB s3. I.e. Mad Queen Alina, Crows Ice Court Rescuing Fivan Shenanigans, Mei Looking For Her Dads, Very Polite Shadow Monster David, and other fun things. So hey. Silver-ish lining, or something. Still, fuck you Netflix. Fuck you very much.

Shadow and bone rant
Was shadow and bone S2 a good one? It was enjoyable. It was watchable. That's it.
For those of us who have read the books it was a huge mess.
Let's talk first about the grisha trilogy.
They joined book 2 and 3 (and crooked kingdom for some fucking reason, but I'll get to that later) and just rushed through the plot.
While I'm not the biggest fan of the trilogy and SOC is one of my favorite books ever, I still think the crows had no business being there. They just took too much screentime, something I usually wouldn't complain about but now I am. The sword subplot alone would have been okay. The rest? What the fuck was that??
Due to this, we didn't get to see the actual story of Sab. And don't get me wrong, I wasn't expecting a word by word adaptation, but this felt.... The characters weren't themselves.
Nikolai felt incredibly plain. He was just a nice guy. But where was his wit? His charm? His "my mother was an oyster, I'm the pearl". Where was his personality?
Also, he never loved Alina, and Alina didn't love him. Why would they push this narrative?
Everyone loves the darkling because he is charismatic and a master manipulator. This season he was just a dying guy. He didn't feel threatening. He didn't feel like the villain at all.
Zoya was completely sidelined for Alina. My girl had like 3 scenes and she didn't do much. In the book we saw rare moments of vulnerability, saw her friendship with Alina and genya grow. But she was still the cold bitch everyone loves because that's what makes Zoya Zoya.
They offed David just like that, and again, replaced him with Alina in the triumvirate. And I'm so mad about this. The triumvirate was made up of the three leaders that the orders chose to lead them during the war (except for genya). There are one of each order so the darkling's favoritism wouldn't repeat, so all the orders would stand on equal ground. Again, they were leaders. Political leaders. Now we have 2 summoners and a colporalki. What about the materialki? They lost their place in Nikolai's circle.
Also, the little reunion of Alina, genya and Zoya at the end was more like "uwu besties hanging out" than, "we have the responsibility to lead the orders and rebuild the country"
Mal just left. JUST LIKE THAT. we have a season full of Malina kissing and vowing they'll spend their lives together after they destroy the fold and kill the darkling, and the dude just leaves. Not just leaves, BECOMES STURMHOND. Do the writers know what sturmhond means to Nikolai? He would NEVER let any other person, least of all Mal take over the role.
And the twins left with him. The twins would never leave Nikolai.
Also Tolya, canonically ace, giving inej heart eyes????
And Alina. Where was her internal struggle? She kept her powers and is ready to become queen? And marry Nikolai??? She never wanted the crown. She never loved Nikolai. She only wanted to disappear into the sunset with mal and open an orphanage to help children like her. She literally told Nikolai that Zoya would make a better queen, hinting at zoyalai.
The whole point of Alina's character was that she was just a girl. She was just a girl turned saint, something she didn't want, with an enormous power she never asked for. She was just a girl who wanted a normal life but had to play the hero at 17. By the end of ruin and rising, she is exhausted, weary, drained. She faked her own death so people would leave her alone, so she could retire to the middle of nowhere with Mal and live a quiet life.
Now they're making her Nikolai's betrothed, future queen of Ravka, and... Evil? After she fought so hard to not become a monster like the darkling??
And where's the religion??? A huge part of the grishaverse revolves around religion, especially in the grisha trilogy. The manipulation of information and public image, twisting the narrative so it fits your goals, the zeal of the masses based on that exact narrative that those in power created.... There was none of that. Only inej called Alina "Sankta Alina" but they never showed what becoming Sankta was like for Alina.
This was just... Ugh. It was not BAD, but I'm so disappointed, especially for the crows, so part 2?

There are so many things wrong in season 2, but I wish they had a chance to redeem themselves.
Underpaid writers cannot give their best writing and we all know that Netflix (and other companies) aren't paying enough and the strikes are a necessity. Blaming them for the cancelation is so damn disrespectful with the fandom, with the writers, with the actors, with everyone involved.
This week I was beginning to feel the hype for Avatar: The Last Airbender, now I think that chances are we get a first good season and have to fight for season 2 and 3.
I wish these streaming services didn't start adaptations if they had no interest in doing the whole saga in the first place. With SAB and SOC canceled, we now know why Season 2 was so rushed. It was like the writers trying to show us a little of everything we could have... and this is the saddest part.
No mourners.

Awww.
Tumblr media
Even more aww. Non-toxic masculinity for the win.
Tumblr media
They're cute. Further in the episode, when they're attacked, the way David protects Genya with his powers and with everything he has. I definitely like him way more in s2 than in s1. We get to see his personality & I am really enjoying that.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
David :') I like him. He's funny and nice.
Tumblr media
<3
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Nikolai is like, "I'll get to that bastard! I'll protect my people!" And his people be like, "MOVE YOUR ASS!"
Tumblr media Tumblr media
The show instantly becomes better when the Crows enter. <3 Also, Jesper's smile and the way he and Kaz look next to each other. Power couple.
Last night I started rereading CK & it starts with 'What am I doing here, what am I doing here,' Wylan kept asking himself. Combined with that, show Wylan seems in character. Without the book though? He's empty. I don't see enough personality in him & I also dislike him a bit. I like him way more in the book.
Tumblr media
And, frankly speaking, when are you going back to the barrel for more schemes? ;)
Tumblr media
Yep! Jesper is that bitch! <3 I'm glad we get to see him actively using his powers. Before I only read about that in fanfiction.
Tumblr media
The one and only <3
Tumblr media
Theyyy. I need to read something about them. I know nothing about their backstory, but they seem very cool.
Not enough Crows in this episode. Also, not enough Matthias in this season. Give me the entire plot of Hellgate. The crows saving him and Matthias becoming one of the Crows. *sigh* How I wish they had their own show so I wouldn't have to sit through Alina and all that nonsense.
I'm also not happy that they rushed through CK. They connected the Crows to SAB and the entire series, sure, but the books don't do that. *sigh* The Crows deserve better.

OKAY. finished sab2 you can rant to me now tell me all your thoughts bc im still stewing
OKAY. OKAY.
overall opinion is that the crows should not have been in sab at all. it should have been solely Alina and her story. maybe a cameo of inej or Nina at MOST but certainly the crows should not have been involved.
because they WERE, they spent the whole season trying to find something for them to do, and settled on.???? ruining their characters. LMAOOO . first of all, they made it very much about romance which was strange, but mostly they fast tracked relationships and gave characters dynamics that were not true to their characters. the whole point of wesper is that wylan is near scandalized but then warms up to jespers jokes and all that. but they?? hooked up??? previously??? like what the fuck.
also severe erase of inej trauma! why does kaz get a full flashback backstory and inej doesn't? taking away tante heleen (particularly by someone else's hand) was a shit move since a woman being in charge of the brothel was super important!! pekka is supposed to be a reasonably irrational hatred of kaz (in that it's a grudge he specifically holds, and inej hates him by proxy) he's not supposed to OWN INEJ. also, when everyone else was having the hallucinations, why did everyone else get to imagine family and then inej got kaz's stupid ass?? where's her fucking brother???
also the Jesper and aditi hallucination was super expositiony and did his backstory dirty. I don't like that kaz got the only flashbacks it's kind of rude.
all in all, the crows overshadowed the shadow and bone cast w a kind of weak plot. it felt like major fan service. it also felt like they didn't know how to properly develop relationships and had to use everything from soc and ck instead of actually slowburning properly (kanej fucking SPEEDRAN, not to mention wesper)
onto the actual sab plotline
I detested mals character this season. he felt like a second choice, and they really erased the core of his conflict with Alina so the conflict they did have felt very manufactured and out of nowhere. the contrast of him fitting in anywhere and her always out of place was supposed to affect their relationship as well as her relationship w the darkling and it felt too rushed.
Nikolai I was also disappointed in. the point of him turning into the monster was that Alina loses everyone all the time, and it's more proof that the darklings words about her immortality and power means something. she has to witness him become a monster and turn to the darkling; now impossible, because unless they're launching immediately into kos (wonky idea) the darkling is fucking dead.
also WHY did they kill David off. for literally what reason. also they did zoya dirty and also they did not give genya as horrifying scars as she probably should have had but that's a separate issue. also tolya?? for no reason he was really outgoing suddenly.
putting both books 2&3 together WITH the crows was a bad move in my opinion, it made everything too rushed and felt like we didn't get nearly as much out of it as we could've. I liked some parts of it such as baghra and stuff but overall I was. I was pretty pissed by what they did LMAOO

SAB S2 is meant to be like a fanfiction of the books and that is why I love it. I loved the books (specifically six of crows and king of scars duopolies). And seeing some of those beautiful scenes in the show is amazing, but also just seeing my beloved characters in action just makes me so happy. I was diminish and screaming in happiness the whole damn time I watched it! Like thank you Leigh Bardugo for giving us wesper and more kanej and just everything. I loved it. That might be an unpopular opinion, but I will happily be rebinging it again and again until we finally get either season 3 or the SOC spin off!

as someone who has already finished sab s2 & just stumbled across your live-blogging posts … i’m so sorry, michelle.
like i don’t even remember all of the important plots in the trilogy & soc/ ck but some things came back to me while watching … not kidding, i went from “wow, okay, i’m completely confused but that was fun, i guess?” to “i have so many questions, i hate netflix for putting unnecessary pressure on the creatives & i feel like i just kinda wasted 8h of my life” in the span of less than 48h.
and i don’t know, a continuation of beloved books should not leave me at that. i mean, what they did worked in s1, why mess everything up? like you wrote why rush through everything & let no one breathe?? 😭🤦🏻‍♀️
thank you, annie <3 i think you're touching on a very important point here: the pressure on the creatives. like, they have to rush everything and put as much plot as possible in this season if they have no idea whether or not they get to continue beyond these two seasons they have been given. and the thing is that they simply cannot do the story and characters justice under these conditions. and that makes the season fail as a whole—whether you look at it as an adaptation or a separate entity removed from the source material entirely. i know we all come back to the "think of it as fanfiction" thing again and again, but it is literally doing what fanfiction occasionally does where it assumes you already care about the characters and dynamics so they don't have to develop anything meaningful and get into the good parts right from the start, skipping the build up. and this season does the same thing. it banks on us caring about new characters and relationships and plot points without giving us a valid reason to care about them, but at the same time they twist and tweak things to fit the show's direction/plot which makes it hard to think of these characters in terms of their book characterisations. and if you're a viewer who doesn't know the books at all you have even less reason to care about any of it. it's truly a pickle tbh. i KNOW why the season feels so underdeveloped and rushed but i am still disappointed by it. i KNOW why it doesn't work and that they had to work with the fear of premature cancellation in their backs, but it doesn't change the fact that this season just isn't all that good. i literally hate it here.

A Shadow and Bone Season 2 rant
It’s like the writers have forgotten whose story the show is about. Because Alina feels more like a supporting character, or worse, a plot device, in her own show. We are not allowed to see her feelings. We are not allowed to see her struggles. We are not allowed to see her having any sort of conflicts whatsoever. She’s become so passive and reactive this season that I really wonder if the writers just didn’t know what to do with her.
I understand that the writers THINK Six of Crows characters are more popular and probably enjoy telling those stories better but it’s actually so disheartening to see them actively sidelined Alina’s narrative for the benefits of the Crows. I’ve read the interviews and the showrunners said that Netflix asked for the Crows to be integrated into the season similar in season 1. But here’s the difference between the way the show handled the Crows in season 1 and season 2: they were obviously playing a supporting role in the first season yet the show seems to treat their storyline as equal or even more important in season 2 (which doesn’t really make sense because in terms of scope, the Crows is doing a heist whereas Alina’s trying to take down the villain AND in terms of screentime, it does a great disservice for the SaB characters because there are a lot more of them as well as more subplots: Alina’s plot, Court intrigue with Nikolai, Genya’s ordeal, Darkling’s villainy, whatever it is that was happening with Vladim, etc. Thus, SaB characters get pretty much the short end of the sticks).
So I’m actually very conflicted about whether or not I want a season 3. Because season 2 has destroyed my trust in the writers and given the way they’re so enthusiastically promoting the yet-to-be greenlit Six of Crows show, I’m wondering if the next part of Alina’s story is even something that they want to explore. Alina becoming Queen and keeping her power is the one thing I love about her ending in the show. But honestly, I don’t trust them to be able to give her a satisfying and deserving character arc where she gets to explore the ramifications of using Merzost and having a grey morality.

We are of the same mind regarding Rumple in OuAT. He's my fave character and I quit watching after the first half of season 4 when I realized they were just doubling back on his arc. They really didn't know how to write without him as their villain so they decided 'welp! Back to old faithful! Rumple is evil again. Who cares about all the development he's gone through'. Such lazy writing.
I heard about what they did with Zelena later too and it sounds absolutely insufferable. I prefer to stop at the end of season 3, when Zelena was rightly dead, Rumbelle was together and not every character was destroyed. At least season 3 has a mostly conclusive ending if you turn it off before Marian/Elsa shows up. Everything I've heard about what happens later makes me glad I stopped watching lol.
Honestly, the reason why I still like Rumple is very simple: he was the only active character in that mess that didn't need his whole backstory to be retconned sympathetic like some others... *cough* Regina *cough* Even in Season 1 his motivations were defined better than the so called protagonists.
Bless you for not being like me and staying in the shit show 🤣. I stayed until mild Season 5 and I just went around Season 6 through the fandom and angry memes. By that time all the Dearie fandom had given up on the story (and some of us even on Belle because God she was an arse in Season 5) and we just made memes about Rumple killing everyone.
The thing with Zelena was the beginning of the end, but somehow the writers kind of subtly made it worse. Like I remember that in the fandom there was some theorising about the gross implications of Zelena's imprisonment of Rumple and the way he always flinched around her. Because, you know, it had been established that with the dagger one had complete control of him... And then in Season 6 there was this conversation between Zelena and the Evil Queen where the later asked if she had Rumple had done something and we were like? Ew? Like, I am sorry but when was Rumple ever close to the witch by his free will excepting her time as pupil? It was such a weirdly specific question to ask that it seemed like the writers were handwaving us like: 'Don't worry, she didn't rape that one!'
Tumblr media
And yes, everything went worse with the Frozen and Marian thing. First because putting Frozen characters in this pseudo Grimms word was ridiculous. Like... why? And the Marian plot was just to give Regina something to angst about.
Honestly, if they didn't know what to do with the main cast anymore, they could have moved to other characters in other settings of the Enchanted forest with other tales. Maleficent or add less knows tales. Not ruining the few good characters they had. One of the biggest missed opportunities of the last seasons was the change of who was the Dark One. It should have been Belle. There, I said it, Emma was the most boring, wooden Dark One ever and even an hallusination of Rumble ate her for breakfast in charisma.
On the other hand, the fic writers in the fandom are great lol. I'm normally in the middle ground of respecting canon or going wild with fanfic... But OUAT is like SaB, too bad to even deserve respect. If I had written this show, Rumple would have been the protagonist and that got around for inspiration of the fairy tale retelling I am currently writing (which is kind of Rumpelstitskin's child becomes the Evil Queen of Snow White but add some less known Grimm Fairy Tales), because it was good potential given to very incompetent people. I get mistaking continuity on a first draft... but that entire show felt like a first draft of everything.

bittersweet netflix shadow and bone finale (s1 e8) rewatch; accoutrement: white wine with ice cubes in it (no YOU'RE a mom drink shh)
my wine's like fruity I love her
light and darkness title card we love to see it
Inej looking at Alina before she goes below deck to hide <3
okay that 'what can you really do on your own' was like not fun that shit hurted
okay but Jesper's 'not enough'? <3
oh no my baby Zoya's first inkling that Darkles does not really care
omg Helnik just appeared and I remembered how much heartbreak I have to face in this episode
gods I love Danielle as Nina so so much
'this can't be it' said she with her pleading smile with downturned eyebrows MA'AM I-
don't break my dumb little heart
I might hate Calahan's little accent but they're making me tear up
oh gods I literally cannot keep a hold on myself when Dani's accent bleeds through with full force, it's like she comes more alive or smth
'I will keep you warm' SIR WHAT-
I am surprised they showed a leaning in for a kiss so soon but I'm not mad about it
her little eyebrow twitch at 'what are waffles'
when that rando said 'i hunt slavers now' a dread settled into me because I knew what was about to go down
Matthias looking somberly at the stuffed wolf's head </3
I am so incredibly entranced by this exchange between Fedyor and Nina and what it represents, it's very interesting that they pushed up their storyline to match with the timeline
damn it's kind of jarring to be back in the Fold
'REMEMBER WHO'S DRIVING'??!!!! *you better stop* meme, *i am, disgusted* meme, *oh wow, oh wow* meme
Mal you fucking idiot you could never take the crows by surprise
the music rising as Kaz starts explaining his thought process, fucking perfection
haha Mal bitchass Inej caught you
'Because if he isn't with Kirigan's crew, he's with ours' WHEN I TELL YOU I SCREAMED
'And why would we destroy the Fold? It's the greatest weapon we've got' valid point at the moment but you know I don't necessarily agree with your methods
the use of the light tunnel in the show instead of Alina just being a super flashlight in the books is quite an interesting addition as well
is this an inappropriate time to point out how pretty Ben Barnes is
okay I kind of love the depiction of the shadow powers okay sue me
'they are traitors who tried to kill you' why are you suddenly making valid points despite having kind of committed low scale genocide
'i never said I was smart' YES MAL BE THE VOICE OF HIMBOS EVERYWHERE
Kaz's face going from 'can you believe this idiot' at Mal to 'fuck me I'm gonna do the same thing aren't I' at Inej
'For who would oppose us now?' *himbo romantic rival appears out of nowhere and shoots at him* god I love this show
him standing calmly in his ridiculous all black attire after nodding at his soldier to stop the himbo in his tracks, i fucking can't
could she summon light without the Darkling making her after he put the collar on her until the uhm moment in the books? idts but in the show she can hmm
'only because I'm not in the game' you tell him Jesper
not me snickering at 'you'll be seen not as a saviour, but as a heretic' LMFAO
'Shame. I'll have to give that speech again now.' THIS SHOW IS A FUCKING COMEDY AND YOU CAN'T PROVE ME WRONG
YES LET'S FUCKING GO SULI SOLIDARITY
Darkles casually whipping the Cut out like a shuriken or a throwing knife at Jesper because he shot at him lmao I can't
INEJ FUCKING GHAFA STABBED ONE THE OLDEST AND MOST POWERFUL PEOPLE IN THAT WORLD AND THAT IS VERY TELLING OF HER POWER
that moment where you actually think that affected him despite having read the books and watched the show
and then he has to go and fucking say 'it will take more than this' and I can't be help but be a little bit impressed at this old fool's resilience
throwback to when he said 'the king is a child' sir you make some valid points sometimes and it does make it difficult to hate you
I would just like to inform everyone that it is currently 6:09 am IST and I am sipping my second mug of wine while watching netflix sab for the second time instead of doing my three papers that are due tomorrow
I'm sorry but Inej jumping to check on Zoya after she gets knocked over by the volcra? first class display of solidarity and sisterhood as well as Inej's inherent kindness
Kaz jumping in front of a FUCKING VOLCRA AND STABBING IT WITH HIS CANE to save Inej, you best believe love is true, kids
god the volcra are so ugly and gross, they did such a good job with them
they kind of remind me of these creatures (I think they might have been called Hollows or smth) from the Miss Peregrine's Home for Peculiar Children movie
STAG VISION TIME
despite my dislike for the callous nature with which the stag plotline was handled, I kind of dig the stag vision scene
'It's just me and you now, Alina. And we're all we need, anyway.' I actually feel bad for this old fool simping for this wonderful gorgeous powerful woman despite lying to her and manipulating her and exploiting her power
okay 'I never needed you' *stabs the bone fragment out of his hand* beautiful power move I fucking love you so so much
alright ben looking like ✨ that✨ not only in physical pain but also emotional pain at what the Darkling clearly considers another betrayal from this girl he wants to give the world and maybe? loves? maybe? or at least has feelings for makes my fucking heart hurt while simultaneously soar at Alina taking back control and reclaiming her power as her own and stepping into her own
'how do you claim such power' okay could have had better dialogue there writers
the fucking score lifting as she says 'you cannot claim what was not given to you' good people my heart is full
one day I'll talk about my defense of the chosen one trope because god damn I kind of love it
hmm I wonder was that brief hesitation that we saw on Alina's face due to her thinking about the 'you chose to betray our people' comment or the 'i was trying to save us' comment because that will define some of her actions in the later seasons (hopefully god if we get some, I honestly don't know what with this stupid brownface debacle)
I'm not saying talking about brownface and pointing out that it is wrong (for further context, I am actually brown) and harmful is stupid btw I'm talking about the incidents involving brownface in question
I don't wanna talk about this anymore but I might feel like I need to and end up posting about it idk
goodness Ivan actually believing in this cause makes me so sad because he too has been victimized by the system that ostracizes Grisha and he has every right to feel the way that he does
Ben actually fighting in that ridiculously heavy cloak and kefta when he's about to turn 40 this year makes me super impressed because I as a 19 year old sometimes wake up with muscle pulls after weeks of inactivity it's weird idk
also I understand that this Mal Darkling fight is completely fanservice and serves nearly no purpose to the plot in general but like I? love it?
'I don't have to kill you Darkling. Your past will do it for me' YES HIMBO GO OFF YOU TELL THAT OLD MAN GODS THAT WAS SEXY AS FUCK
maybe it's because I know Darkles will survive and will come out of it more powerful but I can't get myself to feel bad for him at the moment
Inej and Mal tearing up at Alina's condition made me almost feel something despite it being super obvious she was gonna be fine and save their asses at the last moment
HER POWER
a solitary Kaz in spotted on the western side of the newly expanded fold in his signature all black emo boy look
okay but the crows with zoya and malina is such an adorable team? I literally love them so much?
INEJ'S FUCKING SMILE AT ALINA GIVING HER THE DAGGER AND KAZ LOOKING AT HER AGSGSGSHSJSJSK MY HEART CAN'T TAKE THIS ANYMORE
SHE KNOWS JUST WHAT TO NAME IT WELL GIRLIE I KNOW IT TOO AND MY FUCKING HEART IS LITERALLY GONNA BURST
okay I know they had one interaction but Mal and Jesper would be besties in another universe
Kaz glaring at Jesper when he answers ''course not' to Alina's 'will you still be trying to kidnap me?' tell me one fucking adaptation that got the dynamics between characters this perfectly
okay why do I love that Alina kept the jewellery as maybe a small nod to she has the wits to, um, you know, I don't wanna say steal, but, um, yeah, steal it because she knew she would need money to survive on the run
oh Jessie I love you so much I wish you hadn't said those things on you ig story about the brownface
it's like every single celeb I grow attached to god's like nope that one is going to do or say something problematic (hey btw im not reassigning blame to god for stuff people have done out of their own free will, 'twas a joke)
AAAAAAAH them saying 'the deal is the deal' in the show even though they didn't have to but like they did and I love them for it
Inej literally not being able to not stare at Kaz's face and smile after this <3
'I didn't expect it to burn at all. But it can be destroyed in the end. Just like him' babe you're not wrong but like um just you wait
god Mal being on supportive boyfie mode is well, absolutely adorable, obviously, but I wish we got to see more of him as a person outside of his attachment to Alina
kaz my little demjin I wish you hadn't have had to suffer so much to meet the crows and find your calling
fastforwarding Zoya's arc is also an interesting choice to me
I wish the hug hadn't been done though, it didn't feel earned
maybe Alina awkwardly and half-heartedly (remember, at this point the alliance is fresh and they still don't entirely trust each other) reached for a hug and Zoya avoided her? and then the rest of Zoya's lines followed? that would have made more sense to me at least
I love Sujaya as well, she brought life into Zoya with whatever little screentime and scraps of writing she got
inej asking kaz 'what's your angle?' beep bop bleep morp I sense another incoming embarrassing love confession
'but we do need you' *stares at her face intensely* 'I need you' ah look at the clock, look's like it's time to screech and flap your arms like you're a volcra because you're incapable of containing your emotions
NO YOU CAN'T GO DIRECTLY FROM KANEJ PROGRESS TO HELNIK BREAKUP (TEMPORARY, MIND YOU)
helnik my loves you don't deserve this I'm so sorry for both of you
Matthias fucking smiling ruefully while he says 'this was... just a cruel joke all along' THIS IS NOT FUCKING OKAY
omg hellgate
AAAAAAAAH NINA IS ON THE SAME FRAME AS THE OG CROWS I CAN'T HANDLE THIS
CAMERA PAN FROM KAZ SAYING 'JUST HOW THIS ALL STARTED... WE'RE GONNA NEED A HEARTRENDED' TO NINA OVERHEARING HIM AND LOOKING OVER?????!!!!!! WHO DO YOU THINK YOU ARE DOING THIS TO ME?!
Nina genuinely being curious as to the status of the sun saint because she obviously still cares
Also, 'But she is a Saint' okay Kaz trying to earn brownie points you have succeeded
DID THAT SAILOR JUST SAY 'GOED MORGEN FENTOMEN' TO MALINA BECAUSE I AM NOT OKAY WITH THEM JUST THROWING THAT IN MY FACE ALL OF A SUDDEN
gods I know I'll probably see them again but my heart is full of sorrow as my eyes drink in the sight of my crows for the last time for a while
I know people were annoyed at the meadow flashbacks but guess what? as a darklina, I loved them
'now that the Darkling is dead' could have phrased that a little differently my dudes that line needed to hold more weight
am I glad that they showed Darkles in this state with his nichevo'ya as a tasty little cliffhanger despite not being entirely true to the source material? maybe but only because Ben Barnes saying 'follow' and the nichevo'ya doing exactly so sent a chill down my spine
well, that's it for now, I'll have to move on I guess, get back to my real life which I'm obviously not ready to do
thank you to whoever actually read these things
I probably should have just made reactions or commentary videos instead but I'm lazy
my tumblr will probably go into inactivity once more as I emerge from my stint in the grishaverse
it was quite short (less than 2 months), considering the length of my other obsessions but it was definitely more intense than the other ones
