Everyone knows you're Shuri's woman she's not secretive about it she refuses to be secretive kissing you and gifting you every time she gets the chance. You two were separated only a second ago when someone hands you a mango "oh thank you" you reply kindly but their hand lingers on yours when you take the fruit. You nod and link your arm in hers "yes." you both walk towards the back of the market to be met with a young boy. Shuri grabs the mango given to you earlier and gifts it to the kid he smiles and takes it upon Shuri's request. "What if I wanted that mango?" Shuri raises a brow "what if you wanted a gift from a girl who was trying to take you from me? That sounds like border line cheating to me. Are you trying to cheat on me?" you laugh because you're aware Shuri is being so unserious right now but her face is straight. I like canon divergence! Both for reading and writing, really. I also love time loop stories or time travel stories.

As for AUs I dislike... it'd be settings I don't understand or lack the knowledge to? (and where it's crucial to have that knowledge) Like some historical AUs or the Omegaverse— I've never managed to understand what was going on in the omegaverse.

I think I overuse italics? It was striking in the middle parts of the Soulmate AU (The Agreement, Where The Heart Is, Stargazers). I caught that upon rereading Where The Heart Is a few months ago (and edited some italics out fhdfdsj). I'm also a sucker for stream of consciousness. Love internal monologues. Will never stop.

I'd say the Silvas, although I've worked much less with Solid than the other three (I have arguably worked more with the dead OCs than him which is appalling— I'm sorry, Solid).

My favorite head canon about House Silva as a whole is that they are fundamentally seen as 'cursed' by the other two royal houses. I hc that there's only the four Silvas remaining— everyone else is dead or gone— and that's why the current Silva siblings are all so pressed about their reputation. They're alone to fend for themselves.

I think Nebra was clingy as a child. Nozel had a few hiding places in the castle and Nebra found every single one of them. The poor boy could get no peace unless Acier kept Nebra busy to get her eldest some reprieve.

Nebra is messy. She is a pacer, she is a klutz, she is constantly embarrassed by it and hides it behind the usual confident front. It also shows up in several fics of mine but she is absolutely awful at any type of paperwork she attempts on doing.

Nozel doesn't trust his siblings and I think he will tend to fix his siblings' mistakes himself without telling them he did. Especially if it involves squad work. There's also what happened after the dinner of doom in Your World.

Solid was a fussy baby and then a fussy child. Asking for one thing and then crying and yelling because he didn't want that or he wanted it before or he wanted it differently. Fussy.

All Silva siblings have a little box with things that belonged to Acier. Noelle got a few scraps like post cards Acier sent. She has spent so much time trying to copy her mother's handwriting.

Aaaand I think I'll stop here because we're going to sad territory 😂

🫐 What’s your favorite underrated thing in your fandom? (A ship that only you seem to write for, a character there’s almost no fics about, a trope that criminally hasn’t been written yet, etc.)

Mmmh... It's a tough one because I don't usually focus on what's not there or not there enough? I think the good thing about BC is that dspite having loads of characters, they're all fleshed out enough for people to get interested in them? You see fans of different characters or minor characters everywhere (so you see head canons and analyses and fics and art about those characters or ships too). So I don't think there's anything lacking or underrated.

Went on a ramble here and digressed, so I'll just answer the question. Favorite underrated thing in my fandom: Early Black Bulls fics! The chaos it must have been. (also, we thank @acacia-may for the ones she wrote, they are incredible)

Hey there! Do you have any “out there” headcanons? Like maybe this has no basis in canon (or just a shred of a basis) but you still believe it wholeheartedly? For any fandom you want!

Hmmmm, okay, this really isn't that out there, but the Belcher kids are gonna go ballistic when they discover Crunchy Roll.

I mean, Louise is already really into Japanese media (Hawk and Chick, kuchi kopi & co, burobu cards). Louise is going to be a shonen connoissuer. She will watch all the gundams and dragon ball and demon slayer and one punch man. She'll get really into Death Note and then when it starts to suck she will come up with her own better ending.

Fruits Basket was made for Tina. She will absolutely be writing erotic friend fiction based on romance anime. She'll also watch some shonen with Louise but she's in it for the boys and the shirtless training arcs.

And Gene?? Gene will watch idol anime for the music and also he'll be mostly interested in the theme songs. Anime has new intros/outros every season, sometimes more, and the pop punk is everything. Gene will watch AMVs on youtube for anime he's never seen.

Bob will get really into Food Wars. I imagine Bob pretending he's in a shokugeki when he has to cook something important. He will relate to the Yukihira family diner and he'll wear a bandana for a little bit and carry stuff over his shoulder like Soma.

Linda?? She'll just be here for the vibes of all of it. She'll watch a little bit of everything and she won't understand any of it because you have to read the subtitles and she's too busy gabbing. BUT she will be here for the drama of it all. Louise wants a Nezuko halloween costume? Linda's on it. Tina wrote a reverse harem friend fiction where she's living with Jimmy Junior and Darryl and Zeke and all the Boys 4 Now? Linda's reading it. Gene needs help making his own amv? She's got the laptop and is singing backup vocals (at a lead vocal volume). Bob wants to challenge Jimmy Pesto to a shokugeki?? You KNOW she's reffing.

Also Tina Gene and Louise all watch Sailor Moon together.

Malleus and Lilia x Frail and Abused Reader Part 5

You were still in the infirmary sitting on the bed as (Y/B/F) continued to tell you more. The situation at Mostro Lounge three days ago was even worse than it seemed. Students during the party took pictures and videos on their phones and posted them onto Magicam where it was trending.

Grim ran out of Mostro Lounge before the scene to get (Y/B/F), because Ace and Deuce knew something bad was going to happen. Silver and Sebek got banned from Mostro Lounge cause of student protests. Most students knew you were a girl, but few thought you were a boy with a girl voice and sometimes liked to wear girl clothes. You couldn’t really blame them, since there’s a dorm like Pomfiore.

“Sigh, you should really eat something,” said (Y/B/F).

You looked over your shoulder and picked up a basket of fruit from Jack and Epel. You started eating a banana and offered (Y/B/F) something to eat as well, since he didn’t look healthy.

“Yeah, all the dorms gave you gifts since you’re basically friends with everyone. Even Leona dropped by to leave a gift and I saw him,” laughed (Y/B/F).

You laughed and looked at the gifts, but realized something. (Y/B/F) knew what you were thinking.

“The headmaster thought it was best if Diasomnia students didn’t visit. There were some who had gifts for you, but they’re back at your dorm,” said (Y/B/F).

You sighed feeling bad knowing that two people ruined everything for their whole dorm.

“I’m so sorry, (Y/N),” said (Y/B/F), beginning to cry. “If I wasn’t wasting my time trying to bring my grades up; I could’ve protected you from those monsters! I should go over there beat them up right now.”

“No, you shouldn’t. I don’t want you to be expelled over me. Also don’t get angry about trying to build up your grades. Next time, let’s have a study session with the guys at my place,” you said with a smile.

(Y/B/F) looked at you shocked and then smile and said, “You’re too kind.”

(Y/B/F) left to go back to class and planned to bring Ace, Deuce, and Grim next time. You laid back down on your pillow and heard a crinkle. You put a hand under your pillow and pulled out a black and dark green get well card with a real black rose in it. You opened the card and read it.

(Y/N),

I heard of the misfortunate event that happened the other day with Silver and Sebek. They didn’t mean to cause you pain and their awfully sorry. I just hope that things will clear up soon. I pray that you’ll get better and will be able to return to our club.

Your eyes widened.

“I thought Diasomnia students weren’t allowed to leave gifts?” you thought.

It was now the next day and during the whole school everyone was asking are you okay more than ever. Even Vil, Leona, and Idia were concerned. But another thing stuck out. In every class the Diasomnia students were grouped together and shunned. You felt bad for them, since they had nothing to do with your problem.

The school day was soon over and you were now blindfolded being led some where by Jade and Floyd. You had very bad thoughts of what was going to happen. It sounded like you were in the woods now.

“Be careful (Y/N). There’s a tree root there,” said Jade.

You tripped and one of them grabbed you from behind.

“And also a rock!” laughed Floyd.

You could tell that Floyd was the one holding. You were now lifted off your feet.

“Hey!” you said.

“How about a piggyback ride, Mini Floyd,” teased Floyd.

“I think you mean Mini Jade, Floyd. Her black streak is on the same side as mine,” teased Jade.

“When will this nightmare be over?” you groaned in your head.

“We’re here!” said Jade and Floyd.

Floyd then put you on the ground and Jade removed your blindfold.

“Surprise!” said a bunch of students.

You were very surprised and happy. You were even more surprised when you found it was Jade and Floyd who planned this surprise party. During the party you were having a blast, until you noticed that there wasn’t a single Diasomnia student. You knew better than to ask a question like that during your recovery party.

Night soon fell and you were carrying a sleeping Grim home in your arms. You then started to see glimmering lime green lights.

“Malyulus!” you called happily.

Malleus appeared in front of you smirking at the nickname. You call him Malyulus because it’s easier for you to pronounce, rather than his actual name.

“I see you’ve finally returned home,” he said with a smile.

“Yeah, and I found out you snuck into the infirmary to leave that card,” you laughed.

“You looked as helpless as a newborn babe, but you sure are a heavy sleeper,” he chuckled.

You laughed and blushed at this.

“I came here to remind you that we have a club meeting tomorrow. Can I count on you to be there?” he asked.

You gave him a big smile and said, “You can count me! I’ll be there! I have so many ideas! I can’t wait to see you tomorrow!”

Malleus looked you shocked.

“Is something wrong?” you asked.

“Hmm?! No,” said Malleus snapping out of his thoughts.

“And another thing,” you said.

While still holding Grim you went into the inner pocket of your overcoat and pulled out a yellow rose. You put it behind the fae’s ear and start petting the top of his head.

“This for the flower you gave me,” you said, happily. “Bye, Maley Waley!”

You walked of to go to bed leaving the fae confused and with an unknown feeling in his chest.

The fae teleported back to his room in his dorm and stared at the rose.

“What is this feeling? She actually said she couldn’t wait to see me. No human ever said that to me before. She even walked up to me and patted my head as if I was her pet. It must never occurred to her that I could strike her down with lightning at that moment. Yet the look in her eyes were something I’ve never seen before. They were so kind, gentle, and happy,” he said.

He laid down on his bed and played with the rose’s petals being careful that they wouldn’t fall off.

“Yellow? Did she give me one this color to remember her by? She always wears the color yellow,” the fae said to himself.

He spent almost the whole night staring at the rose you gave him.

The little boy watched as the girl walked through town, she was carrying a basket with her, it was full of fruit. He suddenly became very aware of how long it had been since he last managed to get his grubby little hands on some food. He walked up to her, prepared to play the "lost hungry little boy" card. He tapped on her shoulder, "Miss? he asked. The girl turned around, as she did the boy noticed something, the mark of the moon. "Yes?" The girl asked. It's not like witches were uncommon in this village, its just rare to find them with their mark unhidden. "Could I perhaps have one of those apples?" He looked down and to the side, a practiced motion, it made him look more like someone to take pity on. The girl eyed him suspiciously, perhaps wondering why he would trust fruit from the basket of a witch, but as her eyes fell to his cheek, a look of understanding came across her face.

He’d thanked his team, then his mum, and the boys, too. And then he’d won again and kissed Lewis.

Funny.

They’d made a bet earlier, he and Lewis, if Harry won three awards they’d kiss.

“You’re fine. I’m the one in trouble.” Harry really couldn’t help the smile spreading over his face at that. He couldn’t wait to see what punishment Louis had in store for him. He’d received some promising texts already.

The thought alone made him wiggle in his chair. How long did he have to stay before it was okay to sneak home anyway.

“Good trouble, it seems.”

“Always. What about you? Or me? Should I worry?” Harry bit his lip in thought. He should get Niall a fruit basket. No, wait, something better. A card? Sorry I kissed your boyfriend on national television. Did they make cards like that?

“Please, as if Niall could ever be mad at you.”

Harry had lost part of the conversation already, but Niall not being mad sounded good to him.

Lewis took a sip from his own drink.“I should kiss Louis next. We’d come full circle then.”

“Hell no.” No one was doing any kissing on Louis. Except for him, of course.

Ooh I don't mind at all but also this is a very hard question 🤣 I'll make a caveat that this top 10 is not necessarily in order and is subject to change but I love any opportunity to talk about my faves <3. Think of it as list of characters that I love more than a proper top 10

Yuki Sohma (Fruits Basket) - Gotta start with the guy that's been my icon on here for several years now. I read the Fruits Basket manga when I was in 7th grade and I resonated so hard with Yuki's internal struggles. I've always said our life circumstances are very different but our anxieties and personal difficulties are so similar and I had never encountered a character I related to so hard before so I latched on and have not let go to this day

Shigeo Kageyama (Mob Psycho 100) - I'm currently rewatching this series and keep thinking about how if it had come out when I was younger I would have probably latched on to Mob just as much as I did Yuki for how relatable he can be lmao. As an adult I watch it and really root for this kid and feel genuinely proud in every moment of growth he experiences.

Yusuke Urameshi (Yu Yu Hakusho) - A character I was younger than the first time I watched the anime and am currently significantly older than and he has become my anime son. I adore this boy in all of his asshole tough guy posturing and his wit and genuine care for his friends and determination and just all of it. I also want to wrap him in a blanket and give him some delicious hot soup.

Lelouch Lamperouge (Code Geass) - One thing about me is if a character is pretty and cunning and deadly intelligent and morally grey, they are likely going to be a favorite and Lelouch was an early example of this for me. Code Geass is one of my favorite animes I've ever watched and watching Lelouch scheme and generally be him is so damn delightful every time. He's a character I feel like I could write an entire dissertation on, I honestly could with any of these characters, but I am trying to avoid that for the sake of the length of this post lmao

Wei Wuxian (Mdzs/The Untamed) - How did it take me this long to talk about mdzs? Wei Wuxian is absolutely amazing to watch or read about in every single scene. Complicated and brilliant and cocky and so very tragic. He's another one who hits a LOT of points on the "Who is gonna be Sarah's next favorite character" bingo card. I've scarcely cried for a character as much as I've cried for Wei Wuxian, he is so dear to my heart.

Chuuya Nakahara (Bungo Stray Dogs) - What can I say? I love an angry boy. I'll be honest, a lot of my initial love for Chuuya was aesthetics. His hair and outfit alone had me primed to love him from the start but then he came in with that cocky/angry attitude and honestly fucking sick power and that solidified it lmao. And then the more I learned about him beyond the aesthetics and immediate impressions the more I loved him.

Jiang Cheng (Mdzs/The Untamed) - Definitely gotta mention my favorite angry boy of all my angry boys <3. This man has so many flaws and I honestly do get why it's hard for some people to like him but man I love him so much. His temper, to me, is just another side of his passion which also extends into his ambition and love and he rebuilt his clan from nothing and I'm definitely a person who even when it comes to his more "wrong" decisions/actions I think they're more understandable than the people who hate him say. I feel a strong need to defend him a lot of the time

Monkey D. Luffy (One Piece) - Nothing but respect for my pirate king!!!! Luffy is such a fun character. Like truly one of my favorite shonen protags of all time and that mostly comes down to how hard he makes me smile while reading just constantly. Everything he says and everything he does is so wildly entertaining while also being so earnest and honest and simultaneously laid back. The way he loves his crew and puts everything he has into being their captain. I love him so much lol

Wen Kexing (Word of Honor) - Pretty, cunning, morally grey, do I need to say more? His totally shameless attitude in the beginning was so funny all the time and then the deeper we got into his character the more he went from being the most entertaining person on screen to, well still that, but also a character I feel so many emotions for all the time.

Alphonse Elric (Fullmetal Alchemist) - Now here's some top tier anime son material. My love for Al has only ever grown with the years and subsequent rewatches of this series. I. Love. This. Boy. He has seen and been through too much and is still so good and loving and steadfast in his goals and values. Literally couldn't find a better boy. 10/10

Many of Viv's favorite people were popping up all over Providence Peak. They felt like little moments of serendipity, letting her know she made the right choice in getting away from the city. Some days it was like she almost expected a new person from her life in the city to pop up, maybe an unsavory sort or two but Wes and Ollie were far from the type. Wes was Viv's best friend's husband, a woman they all lost a few months before Ivan. It felt unfair that life was so uncalculated and cruel. If Viv thought on it too long, she knew she'd crumble. The house of cards she'd built as a pretense of healing was one good blow away from collapsing. That wasn't what Wes or Ollie needed- a weeping guest.

So Viv steeled herself with a warm smile as she wisked into their home with a basket of treats under her arm. "I know summer solstice is a few days away, but I figured why not celebrate today?" She beamed, looking around for her sweet godson but greeting Wes with a quick peck to the cheek. "Have you boys eaten today?" She asked while setting the basket full of prepared fruits and foods on the counter. "Peaches, berries, little pastries, and other appropriate foods." She smiled at him, "I've been picking up a few new recipes here and there, learning to make more than pasta." Sweeping eyes around the room, "Where is Ollie? I mean I'm so happy to see you too." She teased unpacking a few things from her basket.

Chapter 4: Grocery shopping

The next morning was spent unboxing my things from Galar and putting them in place. I decorated the room with some new fairy lights I bought just a few days before my departure. Hala was so nice to put a vanity into my room.

It looked old but still had a clean white color with small rose decorations on the drawers. The grandma vibes still had its charm. On top of it was my makeup and in one of my big drawers was my perfume collection.

I put my clothes in the walk-in closet. Finally everything was in place. All my boxes were emptied and I could just lie down on my bed and look through my phone.

That moment of bliss came to an abrupt halt when my door swung open. It felt like my soul left my body for a second until I was brought back to my senses. I turned my head only to see Hau standing by the entrance to my room with a piece of paper in his right hand.

I raised an eyebrow and sat up. “What’s up?” Hau must’ve sprinted to my room, his mouth was gaping open while his chest would inflate and deflate with huge breaths.

“Groceries..” he was hardly audible while he talked under his breath. He held out his right hand with the paper inside and walked towards me.

He opened his hand, I took the paper and had a look at the things listed.

“Are we going grocery shopping for Hala?” I asked looking up from the paper and at Hau. The boy nodded and dug his hands into both of the pockets of his shorts, out of the left pocket came a debit card resting between his index finger and middle finger.

He had the most devilish, shit eating grin on his face as he looked at me.

“He gave us his debit card. Which means we can buy gum.” He snickered under his breath, which only caused me to smile. Hau truly was a breath of fresh air I never knew I needed.

I got up from my bed and we were off to Hau’Oli city to get what we needed to buy.

I brought a tote bag so we wouldn’t have to spend money on plastic bags. It was an old one I’ve had from Galar. It was grey and had a few stains from god knows what, but it hadn’t ripped yet so I think it could withstand a lot.

Once we went in we grabbed what we found first from the list, which was fruits and vegetables. Bananas, pomegranates, mangos, lettuce and onions. After putting that in our baskets we went for the dairy products.

“I have to go to the restroom, I’ll be right back.” Hau said and left me alone in the foreign grocery store, but I still tried to find what was written on the list.

I was preoccupied with looking at the list and checking things I had in the basket off in my head, until I bumped into someone. The smell of cheap cinnamon cologne and cigarettes was the first thing I noticed before looking up. I saw a tall man with his right side facing me. He had a black hoodie on except the sleeves were resembling more of a t-shirt than anything, his face was pretty rough around the edges, downturned nose and dark circles around his eyes.

I snapped out of it when I noticed that he was side-eyeing me. I was too embarrassed by what I just did to give him an apology so I just walked around him and tried to concentrate on what I was doing before that happened.

I could feel my cheeks burn up all the way to the tip of my ears, my thoughts were spinning around in my head, so fast that they were all shooting in different directions due to the pull. I felt so embarrassed that I forgot what I was gonna do.

I felt a hand grabbing my shoulder, I jumped and turned around. It was that guy again. My hands were shaking and my eyes were batting around aimlessly, anywhere but letting our eyes meet.

“You’re that kid that kicked one of my grunts.” He said, I could feel his eyes going right through my anatomy, almost like two laser beams burning my skin.

“I don’t know what you’re talking about…” I mumbled and looked at my hands in front of me holding the handle of the shopping basket, then onto my surroundings again. People were staring, they weren’t discreet either, I could see people whispering, I couldn’t tell what they were saying for obvious reasons.

The man sighed and let go of my shoulder, I could still feel his intense glare on me. I was thankful I was in public, yet at the same time, not so thankful.

“I guess I got the wrong person.” He said and walked away with his hands in his pockets.

It wouldn’t take a genius to know that if Hau was there I would’ve been caught red handed and probably blacklisted since he was part of team skull. I didn’t know the things they did but judging from bystanders reactions and his intimidating presence, they were probably bad.

“There you are!” Hau came up from behind me, his cheerful demeanor was enough to put me at ease, even though he didn’t have the strength or size to protect me from that man, but at the very least his presence was comforting.

The olive haired boy looked into the basket to check the things off that were in it. By the looks of it we only needed three or four more things, and with the help we only spent five more minutes there before we checked out.

Hau was content, we even sneaked a pack of gum among the groceries after a fair amount of convincing from Hau, I caved.

We were chatting about all kinds of irrelevant and silly things such as our first Pokémon and middle school experiences with our mouths semi full of mango and kiwi flavored gum.

Once we got back to Hala’s place we helped eachother out with putting the groceries in their rightful places. A slight bit of culture shock hit me when the fruits weren’t just put in a bowl and left on the dinner table but rather put in the fridge so it could last longer.

A sudden realization hit me, I turned to the young boy and asked where Hala was. He smiled at me and told me that due to the vandalism ordeal that happened the night before he was getting it cleaned up with some people that specialized in it. With all the vandalism team skull is doing he was sure that those men and women got paid hella money removing paint for a living. I laughed at Hau’s witty comments.

Later that day, Hala still hadn’t returned home so Hau and I were playing uno over a fruit bowl. He was a pretty tough opponent, but so was I and sometimes we’d spend more than twenty minutes on the same match.

In the end I lost to Hau by one match, but it was pretty intense in all honesty. Hau slumped over the hard mahogany table surface after we ate all the fruit.

Hala still hadn’t returned home, my head naturally goes into worst case scenarios since it’s getting dark outside, and I haven’t seen him all day. Hau wasn’t doing the same though, so maybe I had no reason to be anxious.

“You know what we should do?” Hau looked at me, his eyes filled with thrill and excitement. This could only mean trouble. Hau is a good kid, but he’s still a kid with a hunger for crossing boundaries and testing his limits. I sigh in response, with a smirk tugging my lips. “What?”

“We should go out right now, and go hunt for night Pokémon.” Hau sprung up from his chair and ran to his room, I assume to get his gear and pokeballs before I could object. I shook my head and went into my room to get my pokeballs and my only Galvantula whereas Hau probably has more Pokémon on his team than Decidueye.

19.4.23 preserve(d) - The End of An Era

The End of An Era

It’s the end of an era now. It’s a sunny day, which is kind fitting. Right now, I’m studying vectors for my maths exam in two weeks. I’m listening to the ‘Your Name’ soundtrack whilst studying, or at least trying to. By Friday you’ll have completed it. What does it feel like? I want to know. Surprisingly, I’m not as jealous as I thought I would be. I still feel a sting of envy but it doesn’t linger for long. I feel a strange sense of fulfilment. It’s like, although things didn't turn out the way I’d hoped they would, I still think of myself as one of the ‘lucky ones.’

The people I surround myself with are amazing; they’re kind and warm-hearted and I wouldn’t trade the world for them. To quote Fruits Basket: ‘They’re the kind of people who deserve the moon but would never ask for it.’

Things can’t go back; they can’t change, no matter how much I want them to, but these days I start thinking I wouldn’t change a thing, which is kind of funny. It doesn’t always feel like this but while it still does, I’ll relish in that.

Today is Wednesday the 19th of April 2023. I wrote the paragraph(s) above yesterday. I found out last week from Kelsie that Ed—the boy I was in love with since I was eleven—is now doing drugs and smoking. He dyed his hair from a pretty blonde to a mud-coloured brown. I hate it. He’s changed so much from that nerdy boy who talked about playing card games to some weird chad. I miss the person I fell in love with. Besides, the brunette look he’s going for is not for him. I used to write his name with chalk on my friend's backyard. I used to love everything about him, every small, intricate detail. Now I don't know where the boy I fell in love with has gone.

When I left, I played Way To Break My Heart by Ed Sheeran in the car (because, of course), I swore I could never fall out of love with him. I hardly recognise him now.

These days, I play the song ‘Breathe’ thinking that maybe I’ll become like the girl in the song.

I've watched those eyes light up with a smile

River in the not good times

Oh, you taught me all that I know

I've seen your soul grow just like a rose

Made it through all of those thorns

Girl into the woman I know

I want to grow from that shy, scared little girl into a mature woman who doesn’t carry fear wherever she goes. I want the people who love me to see me grow and be proud to stand beside me and call me a friend.

I’ll face life head-on now, no matter what. Even though I have regrets and heavy burdens, even still to me, those aren’t good enough reasons to stop moving forward. Not now. Not ever.

It took me a while to understand that time doesn’t stand still, it doesn’t for anyone. No matter how much it feels like it does, sometimes.

It’s scary, isn’t it? Not knowing what comes next.

The uncertainty of it all, the countless options that make you narrow it down, that’s where most of the fear stems from, I think.

But the truth is…

‘I Like Me Better’ when I’m with you.

It made me happy, getting to know all of you. The moments we shared, I’ll treasure them, always.

Maybe I’m taking things way out of proportion and the short time we spent together wasn’t as meaningful to you as it was to me and maybe I’m too sentimental for my own good but still, I can’t thank you enough for the kindness you showed me.

Conclusion of today’s inner monologue: Lauv’s music is superior.

Students hailed for aiding stabbed staff member; school principal and parents thank community

Two students are being recognized for their quick actions, and school administration and parents are thanking the community, after a difficult week at Charles P. Allen High School in Bedford, N.S.

The school was placed in a hold-and-secure Monday morning just before the first bell rang, after a stabbing incident sent two staff members, now identified as vice-principal Wayne Rodgers and school administrative assistant Angela Light, to hospital with serious injuries. A 15-year-old student, who was also injured, now faces 11 charges, including two charges of attempted murder.

Parents and the school principal are now highlighting the response of two 15-year-old boys just after the stabbing.

Grade 10 students Easton Schlender and Rory Chadwick were the first to respond to Rodgers, after finding him in the school office suffering from several stab wounds.

The boys didn’t want to do video interviews or have their photo taken, but agreed to speaking to CTV News for this story with their parents’ permission.

Chadwick says he was in the administrative office getting help with his PowerSchool login before the first bell rang, when Light ran into the office, followed by Rodgers, who laid down on the office floor.

“I just got some paper towel, lifted up his shirt,” says Chadwick. He says Rodgers had suffered a stab wound in his torso, so he applied pressure.

“I feel like in most movies, they tell you to apply pressure,” he says.

That’s when Schlender came along.

He had been just outside the school’s front entrance, and ran inside the school after a teacher told him to.

“So I went into the office and I looked down and Rory is sitting with Mr. Rodgers holding paper towel on his wound,” he says.

“Rory was like, ‘Just hold your hand here,’” says Chadwick. “And I saw he only had thinner paper towel … so I went over to the [office] kitchen and found thicker paper towel, and then I found a sweater so I gave that to Rory.”

While Chadwick put pressure on the abdominal wound, Schlender put pressure on Rodger’s other wound in his upper back.

The boys say they stayed that way for 10 to 15 minutes until police officers came in and took over.

“I just wasn’t thinking,” says Schlender. “I did what I had to do.”

Schlender’s mother, Sarah, says she didn’t know what her son had done until her husband reached him on his cellphone later that morning.

“He asked him if he was OK, he said in a very shaky voice, ‘I think I just saved someone's life,' and then he said, ‘I have to go dad, the police want to talk to me.’”

“[I’m] kind of heartbroken, but proud at the same time,” she adds. “He's 15, it's a lot for him to take on.”

Earlier this week, Rodgers came back to the school after being released from hospital to thank them for what they did.

“It was good to see him,” says Schlender.

While the teens are humble over their actions, the school’s principal and parents are praising them for their response.

“Just absolutely amazing,” says school principal Stephanie Bird.

Bird is also grateful for how staff and Halifax Regional Police reacted that day.

“I don’t even know where to begin to thank the people that did what they needed to do,” she says. “From the beginning, Angela and Wayne are the first heroes, followed by my security and my other VP, who made a huge difference in what could have happened in this building.”

“The main office staff were incredible, and then all of the students and staff who went into hold-and-secure so quickly.”

The office where it happened is now taken over by flowers and cards sent from other schools and community members, along with plenty of snacks and fruit baskets.

Bird is tired after a very long week, but says the students have helped.

“The students brightened our day on Wednesday when they arrived, it was so awesome to see them and to see their smiles and their hugs.”

“It's been a very heavy week,” says Lorelei Burgess, a parent and a member of the School Advisory Council (SAC) at Charles P. Allen High School.

“It’s really important to thank the people who were here, there’s a lot of good that came from what happened, and there’s a lot of people who are responsible for saving lives,” she says.

Fellow SAC member Cheryl Orlik says many parents she’s talked to feel the same.

“Everyone thinks that everything went exactly as it should have at the time, and they’re all very, very thankful for the response of everybody,” says Orlik.

Orlik says staff have been going the extra mile all week.

“We have a VP who was on leave,” she says. “And when he saw this was all happening, he came in right away to support everybody.”

Burgess says assistance from inside and outside the school community has helped kids feel safe.

“We’ve seen a lot of people who were here on Monday who have come back, and we spoke to one of the administration who said she was here for the students, and it was important for them to see a smiling face,” she adds.

“It's been an incredible show of love and support.”

The pair also credit Bird for holding everything together.

“She puts her entire heart and soul into this school,” says Burgess.

On Friday, students and staff left school early, dismissed at noon, based on the recommendation of trauma experts at the IWK.

Bird says the move was essential not only for students, but for staff.

“It’s been incredibly difficult for them,” she says. “They were in hold-and-secure with the students, and so for a period of time, they didn't know what was going on, and that's a really scary feeling.”

When the stabbing happened, Bird wasn’t in her office yet, and says she tries not to think of what could have happened if she had been.

She says the early break Friday will give the school and its staff the break they need to “get back into some kind of routine” on Monday.

“This is a whole community of support,” she says. “And I can’t be more grateful.
