Sometimes, a classic rock tune you like comes out on the crackling grocery store speakers, and you start singing along out loud, completely unabashed, as you browse the aisles with him. He downright puffs up his chest with pride. Bites down a dimpled smile, he doesn't always know why. You make him so fucking softā¦ Nobody else needs to know that.Ā
On Sunday mornings, when heās cooking breakfast while youāre showering, he tunes in to that radio station you like, and if heās lucky enough, a song will come out thatāll propel you out of the bedroom halfway through dressing. Youāll dance into the living-room, wearing only his t-shirt, your panties and a sock, hollering over the music and playing air drums, a show thatās not even for his benefit but for your sole enjoyment. You've had three great dates, a lot of banter before that and he's still quietly shaking from kissing you on your doorstep a few nights earlier. But now you've turned radio silent. No texts. No calls. No pictures or silly captions posted on any site you use.
Did you ghost him? Would you do that? You're part of a bigger friend group, you've been friends before you decided to take a step further, but what else could this be?
He caves three miserable days later and calls Tsuyu, because he knows she won't make fun of him but will tell him to his face if she thinks he's a creep.

The problem with my brain having been obsessed with knowing what fictional characters' singing voices sound like since I was a little kid, and especially now that I'm a vocalist as an adult, is that I can't listen to hardly anything without that voice in the back of my head being like "oh this sound. This specific moment in this specific verse or chorus or whatever. That's specifically what xyz character(s) would sound like!" And I hyperfixate on that for the rest of my life and I craft so many headcanons š
That being said, when he's singing seriously Atticus has an incredible voice argue with the wall. Atty has a very wide range but his voice really lives and thrives in the mid range. But he likes to sing higher pitches whenever he gets the chance and is very good at harmonizing. When he gets Chazz to sing with him he always let's Chazz take the melody as often as possible and harmonizes over him. He also plays like every fuckin stringed instrument and hosts weekly campfire jams for the J-Squad to unwind and hang out and de-stress āŗ he always schedules them around his and Chazz's Saturday night sleepovers so they never miss one š
Chazz can also sing but doesn't discover it until Atticus gets him to sing with him during like a campfire jam session or one of their regular hangouts. His voice is best suited for more mellow, slower songs like me wow wonder why I headcanon that š. and everyone is very impressed by his vocals, but he gets huffy and embarrassed whenever anyone compliments his voice. In my head his vocal range is on the lower to mid range side and has a very nice rasp to it, especially on the lower pitches where it's a little more prevalent and compliments Atty's voice so they blend very well.
Jaden has the perfect pop punk voice. Just the perfect tone and range, perfectly unrefined sound for it too. But if anyone asked he would shrug and say he couldn't sing. Of course he can, but he doesn't particularly think he's all that good and doesn't really care if he can or not, it's not that important to him like card games are so he'd rather not call attention to it askskskks. His ego is reserved for card games and card games alone š¤. But he always hypes up the others during Atty's campfire jams and he participates fairly often because he thinks it's fun and everyone else seems to enjoy it when he does so he's down for it. He also lives in the mid range but has a pretty strong upper register for belting out those pop punk classics š Dear Maria is his now Alex
Alexis is an alto, she lives in the mid to lower register, she does have a little bit of an upper register too but she lives on the lower side. Her voice is very warm and soothing and mature and just nice af. But she's self conscious about it so she doesn't sing very much and almost never around other people. Leading to the theory that when the subject could come up she, like Jay, would says she couldn't sing but unlike Jay, she just isn't confident in her voice even though it's very good. Atty likes to nudge her to try and get her to sing with him at his campfire jams, but she always declines. He keeps trying though š¤
Hassleberry has a surprisingly good voice, very warm like Alexis's and lives in the mid to lower register like her. If she sang, they would blend very well I think. He's private about his voice too, but he'd be fine if the crew find out about it. His southern drawl is still quite prevalent when he sings and it really elevates the gentle warmth of his voice. His vocals are unrefined and amateurish but they're still very strong. He prefers songs with simpler melodies and really thrives in softer, more melodious country/bluegrass music which isn't a surprise to anyone but the fact that his voice is so warm and gentle despite his rough exterior makes people view him in a different light. But in a good way š he's embarrassed at first when the J-Squad finds out he can sing, but he comes around quickly and has participated in a couple campfire jams himself every once in a while.
Syrus's isn't very different from his regular speaking voice at all I don't think. He has a very young sounding voice and he hates it. It's not bad by any means, he just feels self conscious about it like Alexis but also like he's self conscious about literally everything. Same my guy. That being said, he's a tenor. He has almost no lower register but he has enough of one š. His voice is very light, which he's also self conscious about. And he tends to stick to humming, he feels less embarrassed and self conscious that way and wouldn't die on the spot if anyone heard him. Also like me, if he is actually singing along to a song and it gets too low or he just feels like it's too low, he sings it up the octave.
And unsurprisingly at least to me, I feel like Bastion has the most old fashioned type of voice. His range is also very wide like Atty's is. He knows he can sing and is confident about it around strangers, but if anyone he knew heard him or complimented his voice he'd blush and get very embarrassed in an adorable way. Honestly he enjoys the compliments but he doesn't really know how to handle getting them for something not having to do with how smart he is, so he gets flustered when people compliment his voice, to varying degrees depending on how well he knows the person complimenting him or not. That being said, if you want anyone singing the old school classics at the Christmas party or some golden age musicals, you want Bastion.

Ok excuse any shitty formatting or spelling weāre doing this by phone. Most under the cut because my stars thatās a lot of questions:
1 - What circumstances led to your Dark Urge becoming their Class/Subclass?
Sylas is a triple multiclass of Draconic Sorcerer - Vengeance Paladin - Assassin Rogue. Mostly Dex based for weapons. This is 100% done out of flavor and storytelling but it works decently as a build for me. (note that I do have a lv20 mod so my level spread is a little wider).
Being a sorcerer is intrinsic, nothing led him on that path beyond Bhaal creating him. Shaped from the dead flesh of a divine being (also if I remember right Bhaal was a wizard or sorcerer as a mortal too?). He is a draconic bloodline - white dragon - as a nod to the default dark urge white dragonborn sorcerer.
He is an assassin rogue because that is the closest thing to formal training he has gotten in the temple. Stalking his prey, stab and maim - blood blood blood - before they can even see you. Whisper in their dying ears that they died for Bhaal. Proper worship.
Sylas is a vengeance paladin becauseā¦ well because he tried to break away from the doctrine. Twice. Once when he was a teenager and once not long before the Grand Plan actually began. He failed both times and returned the obedient son (you cant start out as an oathbreaker but in my heart he does).
6 - How does your Dark Urge react to waking up with memory loss?
Notā¦ well? Letās just say he left the room he woke up in a worse state then when he got there before finally moving on.
So yes, angry. Then panic when that has faded. Ultimately he hopes itās just a bad side effectā¦ except then it isnāt because none of his companions are like this. With every night he gets less agitated and more afraid. Settling into his bones as this near constant dread until pieces of his past start opening up to him.
11 - What motivates your Dark Urge to either embrace or resist the Urge?
His companions.
Specifically - Donatello Arivae. (my friend Melonās Tav).
Without Donnie around Sylas would probablyā¦ give up resisting at some point. So if I ever do an evil durge run it will be with me pretending Donnie isnāt around.
Donnie - or Sunny as Sy mostly calls him - is a devotion paladin of Lathander. He talks Sylas trough the panic and is capable of subduing him most of the time if he ever loses control. Most importantly he believes so deeply in second chances and is the only one who takes the Urge seriously from day 1.
Donnie is a solid 80% of his continued motivation.
16 - What is your Dark Urgeās greatest desire?
Wowā¦ I mean getting rid of the Urge is the obvious one right? Regaining his memory.
Though it becomes clear at some pointā¦ that he wasnāt a good person (that he likely never was). His greatest desire then becomes to beā¦ a good person - or a decent one at least? Someone that doesnāt need an external conscience (donnie and wyll).
18 - How does your Dark Urge feel about love?
Complicated.
For Sylas love is devotion and worship. It is all he knows. Even without memory that is what he defaults to. That worship manifest in different ways.
He worships Astarion first - it becomes a deep platonic love one day but its worship first. Sylas worships Astarion by letting the vampire use him and his blood. He thinks itās romantic love but it isnāt. (Sylas romances Astarion until That One Conversation and admits that they would be better as friends)
He fears Donnie before he loves him - and thus worships him - because Donnie is terrifying on the field (and Sylas respects that) but most of his fear comes from kindness and he doesn't understand why that openness fills him with terror ( he can't remember not being allowed to feel such things).
Love means devotion. Love means giving part of yourself and expecting nothing in return. Worship.
Trough his journey this perception shifts and he understands love to be give and take with the relationships he has build. A healthier look on love than he ever did since stepping foot into the Temple of Bhaal.
22- What first impression does your Dark Urge give off to strangers?
āWhat the fuck is up with that guy?ā - most of the Gate probably.
Sylas has some odd visual quirks that look prettyā¦ out there by even Faerun standards. His eyes are like fire, and the red leaking from his eyes doesnāt seem to be make-up on closer inspection. Other than that thereās the many scars and deep red tattooās.
The general impression is thus. ā???ā
For tieflings it is thisā¦ uncanny effect. He looks like a tiefling, but he is not. Not that they can tell what it specifically would be either but a lot of tieflings feel this weird dread when they make eye-contact with him. (Iām sure most of the grove tieflings get over that once they get to know him but it initial instinct is run).

The problem is that people have run with the Red-Bull-is-toxic narrative for so long they cannot comprehend something going against that narrative.
If you actually pay attention and see how long people stay there, you know there's something wrong with thinking that. But it is easy to ignore stories like non-famous team members who return within months of leaving for other teams (as per enginemode11's story) or who after years of working there refer to it as a family (Callum Nicolas for example).
Daniel returning and immediately looking like he has exhaled for the first time in two years is a high profile story they cannot ignore and now this is the only story to run with that doesn't upset that view. It's a shame.
No literally and like it boils my fucking blood so much when I see people saying Red Bull is toxic, they are hatful, they donāt treat their young drivers right.
Like Red Bull have the best junior program on this grid, they give the younger lads a chance while others leave them wait. Toto wouldnāt call up George cause he need experience for three years, he misses out signing Max cause he wouldnāt take a chance. Red Bull give their drivers an opportunity.
And their employees have always always spoken so so highly of Red Bull. Iāve never seen anything bad said about Red Bull, only ever from the press. Daniel is returning someone that he is welcome, and loved. People talk shit cause Daniel wasnāt the first driver, thatās how a team works. You have your first and second and in whatever team Max is in he will be first. His shitty fucking fans wonāt let that go.
Yet people will still love Mclaren and Haas for what they did to mick and Daniel? Those two teams have done worse than Red Bull ever had.
