Crush | Joe Burrow

In which Joe asks you how to know if you're in love with someone
✦ . ⁺ . ✦ . ⁺ . ✦
The fresh smell of coffee and sweet pastries hit Joe's nose as he pushed open the woodsy door of his favorite coffee shop.
He quickly slipped into the air-conditioned interior and took a quick but searching look around.
His gaze stopped at his regular table, where he did not discover the person he had hoped for.
For at his regular place sat a mother with her little son, who could not have been more than two years old.
The little boy was sitting in a high chair eating his cake while his mother sat next to him, proudly watching her son as he clumsily shoved his fork into his mouth.
"Excuse me young man, may I?" , an older voice snapped Joe out of his daydreams, bringing Joe back to the here and now.
"Yes, please?" Joe asked kindly as he looked to the older lady who was balancing several coffee mugs on her hand while holding a large café bag in the other.
"Could you maybe..." , she began the sentence, but Joe knew directly what she wanted from him and opened the door for the elderly lady, who thanked the quarterback.
"Do you want me to take something from them and accompany them?" , he asked her politely as he followed her a step outside, but the elderly lady shook her head.
"Oh, thank you very much, but my car is right over there."
Awkwardly, the older lady tried to balance the coffee mugs, which were in a designated position, as she began to rummage in her bag - possibly looking for her car keys.
Without thinking twice, Joe took a step towards the elderly lady to take the coffee mugs from her, so that the lady could look for her keys in peace.
She gave him a quick look of thanks before digging her key out of her pocket and holding it up in the air.
"Found it," she said with a smile, taking the coffee mugs back. "Your girlfriend must be very lucky to have such an attentive man in her life."
Joe raised one eyebrow in confusion, while his gaze continued to rest calmly on the old woman, who put the coffee mugs, which had slipped slightly, back down neatly.
"In fact, there is no one at my side" , Joe said.
"Oh, but then your future girlfriend will have it especially good with you."
The older lady patted Joe's hand briefly as she thanked him again and headed across the street to her car.
If she ever becomes my girlfriend, Joe thought to himself as he turned and made his way back inside the café.
"Can I get you anything yet, Joe?" Maxime, the waitress, asked him after he had sat down on one of the tables at the end of the café, where he hopefully remained undiscovered as much as possible.
But he was not too worried about that right now, because it was just early noon and therefore the rush in the café was not too big, so he had to fear that he would not be able to get out of taking pictures and signing autographs.
Because there were actually often one or the other day, on which it remained impossible for him to remain unrecognized.
"Uhm" , he said, pausing as he considered whether he should really order already.
After all, there was still nothing to be seen of y/n far and wide. Probably one of her university classes went on a bit longer again or she was delayed by one of her lecturers.
"I'll wait", he said after a short consideration, because he decided to order only when y/n would be with him.
For he knew how much she hated cold tea. In fact, y/n preferred tea, which Joe could not understand.
After all, how could anyone perk up without coffee?
"Alright. Just let me know if you want to order." , she let him know before turning away and then beginning to attend to other guests.
Joe sat back and reached for his cell phone, which he had placed next to him on the table, to see if y/n might have texted him that she was running late.
But nothing.
Briefly, the quarterback considered calling her. But he decided against it, because he knew that y/n had always kept her appointments and if something had come up, she had canceled.
While Joe waited, he glanced through the large window, which revealed a view of the adjacent park, where all the blooming flowers and shrubs could be seen up to here, bathing the park in a beautiful colorful blob.
Shortly after, his cell phone rang, causing him to wince in shock before he answered without looking to see who was calling him.
"Burrow?"
"Hello my favorite quarterback! I hope you're not waiting too long for me at the coffee shop. I've been delayed by my annoying lecturer! I just got out of college..." , y/n began and Joe listened to her get upset with her lecturer, which made Joe smile.
"Oh man, I think this calls for a large coffee and a raspberry muffin now?" , Joe asked, knowing he had hit the mark.
"Yeah, did you order already?"
Joe heard y/n cross the street as the traffic noise suddenly doubled.
"No not yet, I was going to wait for you. Do you want me to order takeout and meet you there? I think after this stressful college day you could use some fresh air" , as Joe spoke he had gotten up and walked over to the counter, in front of which he joined the small line.
"How do you always know exactly what I need right now?" , he heard y/n sigh contentedly at the other end.
"Um, I guess I'm a good best friend and listener?"
"Okay, okay, okay. Now don't praise yourself too much. I'll see you at the bench in the park in five minutes!"
Before Joe could say anything else back, y/n had already hung up and Joe looked at his lock screen for a few seconds, which showed himself as the background, before it was his turn to order.
Searching, Joe looked around again while holding the two mugs in one hand and a small bag containing a raspberry and a blueberry muffin in the other.
Unlike the café, the park was quite crowded, so he let his gaze wander more slowly through the surroundings in order to be able to discover y/n.
Around him, a few people were walking their dogs, and on the small playground that was a bit away from him, a kindergarten group was playing, which seemed to be on an outing.
But he couldn't spot y/n among all the people, so he let out a light sigh and kept his eyes on the path.
With quick steps y/n entered the park and dodged the one or other dog, which romped across the path without a leash.
Her eyes searched the park for Joe, whom she spotted shortly after, standing with his back to her.
She was quite sorry that Joe had been waiting in vain at the café for the last few minutes.
But even though she couldn't help it, since her lecturer, who had gone through the homework assignments with her, had held her up, she felt guilty.
And that's why she hurried to get to her best friend, which is why she almost ran over to him and then snuck the last few feet towards him and covered his eyes.
Joe flinched in fright as it suddenly went dark in front of his eyes and he felt cold hands on his eyes.
But he relaxed immediately as he caught the all-too-familiar scent he had smelled countless times before and given away himself.
"Y/n!" , he said directly and within seconds his hands were removed from his eyes.
"How did you know?" , y/n asked sulkily as Joe turned to face her.
"I smelled your perfume. Maybe next time you should wear something more inconspicuous."
Joe handed y/n her coffee mug, which contained her favorite tea, from which y/n took a big gulp and sighed with pleasure.
This was exactly what she had brought now.
"Hm..." , she murmured as she pressed the still lukewarm cup against her palm and then dropped onto the bench behind her.
"You're unfair, Burrow..." , she mumbled as she reached into the bag and then bit into the raspberry muffin.
"What did I do now?" , Joe asked, eyebrows raised in confusion as he also reached for his muffin and bit into it as well.
"Oh, nothing."
The muffins were still warm, just the way the two liked it best, which is why they hurried to eat the muffins as quickly as possible.
"How was your day?" , she asked Joe and he began to tell her about the elderly lady at the café.
Attentively y/n listened to him while she kept breaking off a piece of the muffin and then shoving it into her mouth.
"And then she said: but then your future girlfriend will have it especially good with you". , Joe finished his narrative, eliciting a giggle from y/n.
"How sweet" , she said, dragging out the word 'sweet' impossibly, causing Joe to roll his eyes.
"But while we're at it, how are things with the women?" , y/n inquired as she wiped the crumbs off her pants and then sat down cross-legged, looking curiously at her best friend.
In doing so, however, she concealed from Joe the fact that she was incredibly fond of the quarterback. If 'fond' wasn't a bit of an understatement, she had actually fallen a little in love with Joe.
But she would never tell him that openly, because she didn't have a good feeling about it.
After all, the two of them were friends and that could or would ever become more, could not happen.
Because that's exactly what the two had sworn to each other a few years ago, so that in the end, in the worst case scenario, their friendship wouldn't break up exactly because of that.
"Uh..." Joe began the sentence, but left it hanging in the air, unfinished.
Joe thought about how he could best get around this answer. But he might not have had a chance with y/n to avoid this question so easily.
Because y/n was a person who didn't make it too easy for other people to simply dodge questions, which is why Joe decided on a counter question.
"How do I know if I have a crush on someone?"
Joe slowly sat back as he buried his trembling fingers in the pocket of his hoodie, swallowed briefly, and then looked everywhere but at y/n.
He tried to ignore his heart, which slowly began to snake faster against his ribs, as best he could.
Stay cool, Burrow, he told himself quietly in his mind, trying to relax a little.
But the fact that y/n next to him remained silent didn't ensure that he succeeded in doing so right now.
So he loosened his gaze from the point he had fixed until just now and looked over at y/n.
Y/n thought for a few seconds about Joe's question and how she could best answer him.
"Well, you can't stop thinking about them, you feel strange when they're around and you want to -" Y/n broke off the sentence when she noticed that Joe was looking at her strangely. Almost staring at her strangely.
"Why are you looking at me like that?" The question slipped quietly from her lips as Joe had come dangerously close to her, so she could hear her heart hammering almost continuously against her ribs, and she suddenly felt quite warm.
"Because...Because I have a crush on you..."

No worries if you can’t but if your able to can you please write a Joe x pregnant reader. Where Joe and reader are married and the Bengals make it to the Super Bowl but reader goes into labor during the game but doesn’t tell Joe so he starts to freak out when he doesn’t see her in the suite.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Pairing: Joe burrow x fem first person
Words: 4066
Notes: I didn’t know if you wanted the whole labor process, but I decided to add it in. I hope you enjoy!! <3
I knew it was a bad idea to go to the Super Bowl despite being almost 39 weeks pregnant. Instead of staying home and watching the game like a normal pregnant person would, I decided to go to the game even though my do date is in just 2 weeks and I had a feeling I was going to give birth early. Now, I’m sitting in the suite, 37 weeks pregnant, praying that my water doesn’t break while watching the final quarter of the game. Throughout most of this game, I have been cramping, and it’s worse than usual. Normally they weren’t this painful, but it’s gotten so bad to the point where I’ve had to get up and pace the room a few times while Jimmy and Robin watched in confusion. Honestly, I was nervous. What if I was going into labor while Joe was still playing and he was going to miss the birth of our first child?
All of these thoughts were going through my head which were making the whole situation worse. Finally, Robin asked me what was wrong after I tensed up and started pacing around the room again. I told her that I was starting to cramp and it was pretty painful, so we started to count how long they lasted together. As I watched Joe who was playing absolutely amazing, I was getting more and more nervous that he would miss the birth of his child. I needed him during labor. I couldn’t do this without him.
After we started counting the contractions, I could tell Robin was getting more and more concerned that they were labor contractions. Then, a really bad one washed over me and I held my stomach. “Robin, it’s bad.” I said and clenched my jaw while groaning. Robin grabbed onto my arm to comfort me and looked quickly between me and Jimmy. I turned back to Jimmy to see him standing there with his hands on his hips, watching me nervously. “These are definitely contractions. We should go to the hospital. By the time you get settled in, Joe should be done with the game.” She said. I bit my lip and looked back at Joe who was putting it all out on the field. His jersey was all green from getting sacked so many times, yet the game was going their way. They really might win it.
“I can’t leave. Joe’s going to expect me down on that field when they win. There’s no way I can go to the hospital.” I said, feeling some relief when the contraction was over, though I knew another one would start soon. “We’ll have to let him know that you’re going to the hospital.” She said. “There’s no way to tell him. He doesn’t have a phone down there. Robin…we had it all planned out. I can’t give birth without my husband in a hospital without my midwife and doula. No way.” I said. “Everything will be okay, I promise you. We’ll find a way to contact Joe and once they see Burrow by your name, they’ll give you the best medical staff at the hospital.” She said. After I nodded my head nervously, she stood up and walked over to Jimmy, saying something to him that I couldn’t quite make out.
All I could do was look out onto the field at Joe. We’ve been waiting for these two moments forever. The first was when Joe won his first Super Bowl and I got to go down on the field with him and celebrate and throw around confetti, and the second was when Joe got to witness the birth of his child and cut the umbilical cord. With the way we were going, we might never get to experience these moments, and that crushed me. Hell, we didn’t even pick out a name for our baby yet. Our plan was to pick names this week so when we found out the gender when the baby was born he or she already had a name, but now the baby won’t even have a name. What a nightmare.
“Alright…are you ready?” Robin asked me. Looking at the field one last time, I nodded and stood up, but not before a huge contraction washed over me. I tensed up and let out a small groan as Robin rushed to me and let me put some weight on her as we walked out of the suite and headed to the car. As we walked out, I grabbed onto Robin with one hand and with the other, I held my phone with was playing the game the Bengals were sure to win. The amazing season Joe had and the winning streak he was about to continue would end with him not having any family to celebrate with, and he would have to come to the hospital to his baby that was already born. I groaned when another contraction hit me. They were getting worse. “We’re almost there, just a little further.” She said.
Once we made it to Jimmy’s truck, we all got in. Robin and l sat in the back of the truck while jimmy drove extra cautiously. While I sat in the back, Robin and I both watched the game on my phone and Jimmy listened from the front. I couldn’t held but notice how Joe kept looking in the direction of the suite with a worried look on his face. He knew it was a high risk for me to come to the game with me being 37 weeks pregnant. For 2 week’s leading up, he kept telling me that it was better to stay home, but I obviously told him that I was coming. I guess looking back on it, it was a good idea since he would’ve completely missed the birth of our child with me being back in Cincinnati.
Watching my phone, Joe kept trying to discretely look up at the suite where his pregnant wife was supposed to be. Every time he got back on the bench he looked up, but every time he did, I was still missing. A breath caught in my chest as he worriedly walked over and whispered something in Ja’marrs ear who turned around and looked up at the suite and then whispered something into Joe’s ear. “He’s probably so worried right now.” I said and started to bite my nails nervously, hoping that it wouldn’t affect his playing.
The whole way to the hospital, Robin and Jimmy were incredible. They kept reassuring me about Joe and the whole situation, calming me when I had painful contractions, and letting me vent to them when I needed to. When we got to the hospital, I left the truck so quickly that I forgot my phone in it, so I had no way of calling Joe. Normally he doesn’t answer his parents calls right after a game, but hopefully he would since he was worried about me.
We got checked in and then after I was settled down in my room, I turned on the tv to see everyone celebrating already. I missed it. I missed the last play of the game. I missed everyone running onto the field and hugging each other. I should be down on that field right now with him throwing confetti in the air and stuffing some in my pockets for memory purposes. I should be celebrating with him and letting him know that I was so incredibly proud of him and what he has accomplished in such a short amount of time.
Instead I was in this hospital bed, having painful contractions while Robin and Jimmy tried to contact someone that could tell Joe what was going on. “Alright, thank you so much.” Robin said and hung up the phone. “They are going to tell Joe right now.” Robin said. I nodded quickly and looked to the tv. After about 5 minutes of waiting, the camera zoomed in on Joe who was looking around and trying his best not to look worried. All of a sudden, someone ran over to him and whispered something into his ear. Joe immediately perked up after hearing what the man had to say and started to frantically look around. He looked shocked. The camera then followed him as he started to run off of the field, zipping past interviewers, players, and the staff before disappearing through the tunnel.
My attention was taken off of the tv as a nurse walked in with a smile on her face. “Hello mama, I’m here to take some of your vitals and check how dilated you are.” She said. “Okay. Is there any way I can get up and move soon, it really hurts.” I asked her as soon as the contraction ended. “Of course, of course. I will bring in a yoga ball to help speed up the process as well.” She said with a smile on her face as she walked over to me to check how dilated I was.
After she left, Robin got a call on her phone and when she answered it, I could practically hear Joe on the other end yelling if I was okay and why I wasn’t answering. “Relax, she forgot her phone in the car. Yes, okay, be careful.” Robin said and walked over to me with the phone. “It’s joe.” She said and held the phone out to me. I grabbed the phone from her and held it up to my ear, wanting to hear Joe’s voice so badly. Whenever I was stressed, worried, scared, or just needed to be calmed down, all I needed was to hear Joe’s voice. After so many years being with him, he’s become someone I can rely on and trust with everything in me, so not having him here is scary.
“Hey Joey.” I said, feeling tears prick my eyes a little bit. “Hey, baby, how are you? Is this really happening right now?” Joe asked me quickly. I could tell he was trying to stay calm, but excitement still filled his voice. “It’s happening, Joe. I’m already 6cm dilated. The contractions are really bad.” I said. Just as I said this, another contraction started and I tensed up a little bit. I let out a little, “ow,” as I moved around in the bed, trying to find any form of relief. “Holy crap. I’m leaving right now, I’ll be there soon.” He said and I could hear doors swinging open from the other end of the phone. “Okay, I love you. Drive safe.” I said. “I love you so incredibly much.” Joe said before hanging up.
While Joe was on his way, the nurse came back in with a yoga ball so I could bounce on it and speed the process up a little bit. Just like she told me, I sat on the yoga ball by the bed and started to bounce up and down on it slowly. The pain was unbearable at times and I just wanted it to end. Every single time I had a contraction, I so badly wanted joe to be right next to me to help me through them and let me squeeze his hand. Robin and Jimmy were helping here and there, but once Joe came, they were leaving to go get a hotel so Joe and I could share this special moment together. Even now they were downstairs trying to find him.
Currently my head was down on the bed and I was trying to breathe through a contraction while bouncing on the ball. From the side of me, I could hear the door open and expected it to be another nurse coming in to check my vitals or something. “Oh baby.” I heard Joe say. I sucked in a breath and looked over to my right so quickly and saw Joe walking over to me. “Joey.” I groaned out as he walked over to me quickly and kneeled down by my side. Relief washed over me. I was so thankful that he was finally here. As I looked into his eyes, he looked so incredibly happy. This man was literally on top of the world. Not only did he just with a Super Bowl, but now he’s going to be a dad.
“It hurts so much.” I said, gripping onto Joes left hand so I didn’t hurt his throwing hand. “I know, baby, I know. But you’re doing amazing.” Joe said. Just as he said this, I could feel the contraction ease up. Letting out a big sigh, I looked over at him and started to cry more. “It’ll be over soon, I promise.” Joe said and cupped my cheek with his free hand. It wasn’t that. It wasn’t the contractions. Yes, they hurt, but now I felt terrible that I wasn’t there for him to celebrate. Because of me he had to walk aimlessly on that field, searching for his wife that wasn’t even there. “I’m sorry I wasn’t there to celebrate with you, Joey. You wanted to win a Super Bowl for so long and when you did, I wasn’t even there for you. I’m sorry.” I said.
Joe just shook his head and let out a small laugh. “That’s what you’re worried about? This is the best way to celebrate a Super Bowl win…I’m going to be a dad. That’s the best form of celebration you could ever give me.” Joe said. “Really?” I asked him. Joe gave my hand a small squeeze and kissed my forehead. “Really. I don’t know how you’re going to top the next one.” He laughed. We both laughed together as the worry was slowly drained from my body. I was so relieved that Joe was here and he wasn’t upset at the fact that I wasn’t able to be down on that field with him.
“But we didn’t get to throw around confetti like we wanted to.” I said with my little pouty lip out. As soon as I said this, Joe’s face lit up and he reached into his pockets with both hands. “I almost forgot.” He said as he pulled his hands out, revealing a handful of confetti in each hand. I let out another laugh when he signaled for me to take some of it. “I cannot believe you brought some confetti with you.” I said and grabbed it all from his hand. “We always talked about doing this with the confetti and saving it. Of course I brought some.” Joe said and kissed my lips.
When we pulled away, we held the confetti in our hand and Joe started to count to three. “1, 2, 3.” Joe said. On 3, we both threw the confetti in the air and watched as it all came floating down on our heads, onto the bed, and onto the floor. I let out a giggle as Joe started to grab the pieces that were stuck in my hair. While he gathered up all of the confetti, I just watched his face. Joe literally looked like the happiest person in the whole world, which made me the happiest person in the whole world.
As I gazed over at him, Joe caught me staring. While he set the confetti on the little table near the bed, he laughed a little bit. “What?” He asked me. I shook my head and ran my fingers through his long hair. “I’m so, so incredibly proud of you, Joey. You worked so hard to get to where you’re at…and I am just so proud of you.” I said, feeling tears prick my eyes once again. There was really nothing I could say to joe to fully express how proud of him I was. He battled through so much adversity in his career. He fought through so many injuries and ups and down to get to where he is now, and he did it. He fucking did it.
“Thank you, baby. I truly couldn’t have done it without you,” Joe said and pushed a piece of hair back behind my ear. All of a sudden, another contraction hit and I put my head down on the bed and bounced even harder, the movement helping slightly. “Ow.” I cried out. Joe moved closer to me and put his arm around me, trying his best to comfort me. Out of nowhere, I felt the urge to push and started to get worried. “Joey, I feel like I need to push.” I groaned, trying my best to not push now if I wasn’t supposed to. It’s only been about 3 hours of feeling these bad contractions, I couldn’t be ready to push yet, right?
The contraction got so bad that I couldn’t sit down any longer, I stood up and put my hands on the bed, swaying my hips and moving my legs. “It hurts so bad but I feel like I need to push.” I cried, tears and snot running down my face. No matter what I looked like or how much I was in pain, Joe always looked at me like I was still the most beautiful girl in the world. He looked at me with those bright blue and calm eyes, but when he could tell that I was getting worried, he pressed the call button. “It’s okay, we’re going to get a nurse in here. Just breathe.” He said, standing up so he could squeeze my hips which helped a lot.
Joe repeatedly kissed my neck or shoulders and whispered encouraging things into my ear. Shortly after, the doctor came in with the nurse and PA who rattled off various vitals and checked how dilated I was. All I could do while she was checking was pray that I was 10cm and could finally push this baby out. This was excruciating and it’s only been 2 hours. “Great job kiddo. You’re already at 10cm. It’s time to start pushing.” She said with a big smile on her face. Why was she so happy? I was in excruciating pain. I wanted so badly to reach up and slap that smile right off of her face, but I didn’t have the energy for that. I glanced over at Joe who was holding back a laugh at the look I was giving him. He knew exactly who that look was for.
Everything went by so quickly, people were walking around the room, checking more vitals, and getting everything prepared while I was freaking out. I couldn’t do this. I couldn’t push out a whole baby. What was I thinking? Why did I even get pregnant in the first place. This was a terrible idea. I looked over to Joe who stood right next to me the entire time, but was currently watching the nurses as they prepared everything. I gave Joe’s hand a small squeeze and he quickly looked over to me and stepped closer.
“Joey,” I said through tears, “Joey I’m really scared .” Another wave of fear rippled through me as I saw people quickly walking around and putting on gloves. Even the snapping sound of the gloves being put on scared me. “You are the strongest person I know, You got this baby. I’ll be right by your side the entire time. It’s almost over.” Joe said lovingly, though I could hear the excitement in his voice as he placed a kiss on my forehead. I took a deep breath and nodded quickly. Before I knew it, I was being told that it was time to push. Fuck me.
“Alright kiddo. Deep breath in, hold and push.” The doctor told me at my feet. Taking a deep breath, I squeezed Joes hand tightly and started to push. Halfway through the pushing process, Joe put his hand on the back of my neck to help me while pushing and he couldn’t stop telling me encouraging things. After 15 minutes of pushing our little baby out, the baby was finally almost out. “Do you want to watch for the final push?” The women asked Joe. Joe perked up and looked to me and then the doctor. “Can I?” He asked excitedly, wanting nothing more than to watch his son or daughter being born. When the doctor said yes, Joe, holding my hand, moved so he could see better and looked down with the rest of the nurses and doctors.
“Can you give me one last big push momma?” She asked me. Nodding, I took a deep breath and started to push while squeezing Joe’s hand really hard. It hurt so much. My body was so extremely exhausted and every single time I pushed, my body would shake and convulse. Tears and sweat covered my entire face and body and I couldn’t wait until I could hold my baby. “You’re doing amazing.” Joe told me, tears streaming down his face as well. Finally, relief washed over me as I felt the baby being pushed out of me. Once I stopped pushing, I breathed heavily and started crying harder once I heard crying. I did it.
Joe and I were both a crying mess as we fully realized that we now were parents. For the first time, it would be the three of us instead of two. We finally had the family we always wanted. Joe looked over at me in amazement, amazed at what I just did. There was so much motion from my feet as they grabbed the baby. “Congratulations mom and dad, it’s a little girl.” The doctor said proudly. I let out a sob while smiling and watched as Joe leaned down to kiss me. “Can I cut the umbilical cord?” Joe asked in excitement. I giggled a little bit and wiped away the tears on my face as I watched Joe who was in awe of the whole thing.
I watched Joe with nothing but love and admiration in my eyes as he listened so carefully to what the doctor instructed him to do. Joe, taking the scissors, glanced over at me with a smile on his face and then cut the umbilical cord. After a few more seconds, Joe came back over to me and kneeled down by my side, cupping the side of my face as we both cried. “You are incredible.” Joe cried, kissing my forehead. He kept his lips there for a few seconds before he pulled away. “We’re parents.” I said with a huge smile.
My heart soared with emotion as I saw the nurses walk over to me with our baby in their arms. Joe backed away slightly so he wasn’t in their way, and watched as one nurse opened up my gown for some skin to skin and the other one placed our baby in my arms. “Oh my gosh.” I cried as I held onto our tiny, beautiful baby girl. Her little cries settled down from the skin to skin contact and I couldn’t help but stare at her tiny features. They dropped a small blanket over me and her so we weren’t as exposed, and after, Joe came back so he could see her. “She looks like you.” I said and wiped away a few tears that streamed down Joe’s face. “I’m so sorry.” Joe joked. The both of us laughed a little bit, but I shook my head. “Don’t listen to daddy, there are girls all over who have a crush on him.” I giggled.
After a few seconds of just sitting here, wondering how I got so lucky, I said, “what should we name her?” I asked. Joe looked at her face and her tiny features and slowly stroked her tiny hand. “What about Noa?” Joe asked me. I looked down at Noa with a smile on my face and nodded. “Noa,” I like that, “Noa Dorothy Burrow.” I said. When I said her middle name, Joe looked up at me with a shocked smile on her face. “Dorothy, like my grandma?” He asked me. I nodded and grabbed his chin gently with my index finger and thumb and angled his head up slowly and placed a kiss on his lips. After I pulled away, Joe shook his head in awe and rested his chin on the bed so he was pretty much face to face with his daughter. “Welcome to the world Noa Dorothy Burrow.” Joe said.

Joey B Blurbs: Say You Love Me
Tumblr media
————————————————————————-
summary: you prank Joe by not saying “I love you” back after seeing another couple do it on TikTok.
warnings: fluff, unserious/funny, pranks, illusions to smut at the end.
pairing: joe burrow x reader
Imagine universe: Into The Mystic
————————————————————————-
*no particular date for this blurb!*
(y/n’s pov)
It was a quiet afternoon in the Burrow home, which lately seemed to be a very rare occasion. Joe was upstairs getting ready to go over to Sam Hubbard’s house since a few of the guys were getting together over there. Mostly captains and a couple of other players.
The twins currently sat next to me on the couch while they babbled back and forth with the cartoons playing on the TV.
When I found out I was pregnant, Joe and I had set very strict guidelines for our future kids. Cartoons and tech limit being a huge one we both agreed on.
Well, that was before we became parents. We quickly realized that having two toddler boys at the same time meant using anything to calm them, distract them, keep them content, etc. The list could honestly go on forever.
Now that Joe was going to be leaving soon, I planned to keep them occupied with the TV til they eventually had to take a nap.
As I noticed Miles starting to get tired, Joe came bounding down the stairs loudly making an introduction as usual.
“Hey baby, I'm going to Sam’s now. I'm gonna make sure to get home before dinnertime so I can grill steak tonight.” - Joe
“Mmm. Sounds good.” - you
He made his way over to the couch and bent down to be at eye level with me.
“I've been craving a good steak for a bit so I'm def looking forward to it.” - Joe chuckled
“Okay, babe. Have fun.” - you
Joe leaned forward to give me a quick kiss before pulling away and standing up with a smile.
“Bye, mama. I love you.” - Joe
Let the prank begin.
In all honesty, as fun as this prank was going to be just to see how he'd react it was also kinda sad. Joe has always made it apparent to verbally profess his love for me, and not matching his statement would certainly be something he'd dwell on.
When we first started dating back in high school, Joe made it known to me that the statement “I Love You.” was not something he just threw around. To him, it was a more intimate thing and he'd only tell it to someone if he truly meant it.
I was lucky enough to be one of the people on the receiving end of those three special words leaving Joe’s lips.
But for right now, he wasn't getting the return of those special words.
“Bye Joe.” - you
I tried to study his expression when he realized the fact I didn't say it back but for a second it didn't seem like he had. When he did though, it was very obvious. Maybe she didn't hear me? Joe thought.
Joe leaned down and kissed me once again, this time a lot longer than the first.
“I love you.” - Joe
“Have fun at Sam’s!” - you smiled
The look he gave me wasn't a reflection of hurt but more of confusion and worry.
“You okay?” - Joe
“Yeah, why? I'm great!” - you
He stood there for a second trying to take in my body language, but there wasn't a noticeable difference to him.
“Okay, just checking.” - Joe
Leaning down once again, Joe pressed a very thorough kiss on my lips. My hand rested on his cheek and my thumb rubbed under one of his eyes as we kissed. After, our foreheads stayed touching, and Joe just smiled at me.
“Bye, I love you.” - Joe
“Bye, baby. Tell the boys I say hi!” - you
Joe abruptly stood up after that. They way you kissed him wasn't matching your lack of sentiment.
“y/n? Did I do something?” - Joe
“No. Joe are you okay?” - you
He scoffed before collecting his thoughts and speaking.
“Well I was but i’m kinda confused now.” - Joe
“About what?” - you
I watched Joe cock his head to the side as he narrowed his eyes at me, he was completely and utterly lost.
You were acting completely normal, and happy; kissing him and calling him baby, but you wouldn't say I love you back?
“Do you not want me to go?” - Joe
“What no? Do you want me to not want you to go?” - you
“I mean I wasn't going for that, but I feel like I should stay now.” - Joe
“Why?” - you chuckled
Joe crossed his arms across his built chest, making his muscles bulge, and huffed out a loud breath.
“Are you mad that I was gonna go hang out with the guys today? If you didn't want me to go you could've told me.” - Joe
“You know I don't care if you hang out with your teammates if anything I encourage it. Why are you acting like this?” - you
“What do you mean me?? y/n, what the hell is happening?” - Joe
“I don't even know what you're referring to.” - you
He dropped his arms and ran a hand through his soft curls while heaving a sigh.
“Okay nevermind, whatever. I'm going now. I love you.” - Joe
Joe watched me intently and very closely to see what my next move was.
“Have fun, Joe. I'll be here with the boys waiting for your return.” - you
His expression and body language stayed the same but the words that left his mouth next said the opposite.
“Do you not love me anymore?” - Joe
My mouth dropped open and my eyes widened at his question, have I gone too far?
“What?! Where did that even come from? That's a stupid question and you know it.” - you
“Yeah, sorry.” - Joe looked down at his feet
There were a few seconds of silence before Joe looked back to me.
“I’m gonna go now, or else I'll be late.” - Joe
“Okay, c’mere give me a kiss.” - you
Bending down once again, Joe pressed little pecks on my lips over and over again before pulling away.
“Love you.” - Joe smiled
“Thanks.” - you
“y/n… I’m your husband. Why won't you say it back?” - Joe
“Say what back?” - you
“Don't play dumb. Every time I say I love you, you completely dodge it. What’s that about? If I did something tell me. Please.” - Joe
“Dont know what you're talking about.” - you
Joe’s jaw clenched up and he looked at his two boys who were by now watching him and I instead of their show.
“Hey guys can you go upstairs so Mommy and Daddy can talk?” - Joe
Oh shit.
The boys nodded and eventually went upstairs to their room. Once Joe saw their little frames disappear he turned back to me, his nostrils were flared and he looked mad.
“y/n, what the fuck did I do? It's not our anniversary, you're not on your period, we were literally cuddling an hour ago, and you are kissing me like nothing is up. Why won't you say you love me? It's fucking me up like hell, y/n.” - Joe
I stood up abruptly and wrapped my arms around him, pressing my face into his neck.
“If this is a joke- I swear to literal God.” - Joe
“I'm so sorry Joe. It was just a little prank but I took it way too far, please don't be mad at me. I seriously didn't intend to get you this worked up. I didn't know it'd mess with you like that.” - you
He stayed silent and I moved my head to his chest, his heart was beating unhealthy fast.
“Joe? Baby, are you okay? Your heart is beating really really fast.” - you
I looked up at him as I rubbed his back with one hand, the other rubbed over his heart. Joe was looking straight ahead at the wall, trying to not acknowledge me.
“Say it.” - Joe
“Say wha-” - you
“Say it.” - Joe looked at you
I moved my hands to cup his cheeks and placed a huge kiss on his lips.
“I love you. I love you so much, Joe. I love you more than anything.” - you
“Thanks.” - Joe smirked
“You ass!” - you shoved him as he laughed
We eventually stopped laughing and pulled each other into a hug.
“I love you.” - you
“I love you too.” - Joe smiled and kissed you
Joe and I kept kissing as our hands started to roam over each other’s bodies. Though I protested, Joe pulled away eventually and pulled his phone out of his pocket.
“What are you doing?” - you
“Texting Sam and saying something came up last minute.” - Joe
I smiled and came up with a quick response.
“Oh, something def came up.” - you held eye contact with Joe before flicking your gaze down to his crotch
“Now you're in trouble.” - Joe
He tossed his phone onto the couch and picked me up bridal-style, running to the stairs as we both giggled.
I really loved Joe with my whole heart.

Little Burrow | Joe Burrow
Tumblr media
In which little burrow suprises his dad during training
✦ . ⁺ . ✦ . ⁺ . ✦
"Mommy! Mommy! I'm ready," y/n's son Mason shouted as he came running into the kitchen.
Y/n lifted her head from the lunch box she was preparing for her three-year-old son and looked over at Mason.
The little blond-haired boy proudly presented his mother with his Bengals jersey, which he was wearing backwards, but looked so proud because he had put it on by himself, so y/n let out a soft "naaw" before lifting her son up and gently tickling his belly, causing him to giggle loudly.
"You did great, buddy. But we need to get your jersey on right, okay?" Smiling, y/n sat her son down on the countertop and began to put the Burrow jersey, which he wore almost daily, on him the right way around.
"Who dey think gonna beat dem Bengals? Nobody!" , Mason began to chant after wearing the jersey the right way around and snagging a cracker from the lunchbox y/n had just prepared.
"I hear you're ready to cheer on Daddy and the rest of the team at practice already?"  Y/n lifted her son up to put him back on the ground, where he gave her a big grin and then clapped his hands enthusiastically and shouted "yes."
Just like Joe, his son shared an enthusiasm for football, so much so that Mason had been talking about nothing else at times since he could talk, and y/n wouldn't be surprised if their son together eventually followed in Joe's footsteps.
"Football with?" , Mason asked y/n as she stowed the lunchbox in Mason's backpack and then tucked her cell phone and front door key into her purse.
"We don't need that one. There are lots of them at Daddy's trainings camp. I'm sure you'll get to play with one." She tousled Mason's hair, which made him giggle.
"Come on, let's go see Daddy."
She picked her son up and carried him into the car, where she put him in his car seat, buckled him in, and moments later left the garage with the car and headed to the training area with Mason to surprise Joe.
"Mommy! Mommy! Hurry! "Mason shouted excitedly when they arrived at the training ground and could hear the shouting of the team from far away.
"We're almost there!" y/n smirked slightly as she grabbed Mason's hand and ran over to the field with her excited son, who kept pulling on his mother's hand to show her to hurry.
From a distance, she recognized the team, which was completely engrossed in practicing a few plays, so that y/n and Mason could sneak up unnoticed, although y/n was sure that Mason would betray them sooner or later.
"Daddy?" , Mason tilted his head questioningly as the two arrived at the edge of the field and y/n spread out a blanket on which she and Mason could sit for the next few minutes, keeping Mason occupied every now and then when he wasn't excitedly watching them practice.
"Daddy's over there," , y/n said as she pulled Mason onto her lap and pointed her fingers over to the field where number nine was located.
Wide-eyed, Mason watched his father begin to practice a few throws, at which point Mason kept applauding and began to giggle softly.
With a smile on her lips, y/n watched her son.
"Hello Mason, hello y/n. Good to see you guys." , the suddenly heard Zac's voice next to her, so she lifted her head and smiled at the head coach.
"Hey, Zac. You alright?" Y/n stood up to greet Zac with a quick hug before Zac crouched down and gently tickled Mason's stomach.
"All great and I see you guys are too, right buddy? Are you rooting for your daddy?"
Mason answered Zac with a giggle and then began clapping his hands.
"He couldn't wait to get back here. He actually wears the jersey almost every day." , y/n said rolling his eyes slightly, which made Zac laugh softly.
"That's great, isn't it? That way we're already working on good young talent. Joe said he should play football soon too?"
"No," y/n said quickly, but had to grin.
"I see you haven't agreed yet," Zac replied with a grin, and then picked up Mason, who began to sing The Bengal Song again.
"Shall we go say hi to your daddy and do some exercises with him?"
Zac got a wild nod in response, so the Bengals' boss headed out onto the field with Mason on his arm.
"Listen up guys! I've got a new arrival here!" he shouted across the field, causing everyone to pause in their movement and look to Zac and Mason.
Immediately, the players' expressions brightened and they all began to greet Mason in confusion, causing him to press himself slightly shyly against Zac.
"Look, there's Daddy," he distracted Mason as they came to a stop just before Joe.
He lowered Mason, who moments later spotted Joe and ran toward him, stumbling slightly.
"Hey, Buddy," Joe, who by now had crouched down and spread his arms, greeted his son, who threw himself into his arms.
"Daddy! Daddy!" , his son shouted excitedly and began to tell him that he was wearing Joe's jersey and was eager to play with him.
With a big grin on his lips, Joe pressed a kiss to his son's forehead before picking him up and carrying him over to Logan, Sam and Tee.
"Hey little superstar," Sam greeted the little one and tousled him through his hair, causing Mason to giggle softly.
"Are you training with us today?" , Logan asked Mason, who started nodding vigorously shortly after, making the three of them laugh.
"Let's go then." With a grin on his lips, Tee grabbed the football and thus the four of them began to play a little football with Mason, cheering loudly for Mason every time he threw or caught the ball.
And from the edge of the field, y/n watched them grinning broadly while she held the cell phone in her hand and filmed them all for some time to have some memory of today.
"You really need to come back here with Mason" , Logan all but pleaded as he pulled y/n into a tight hug of greeting, then gave her a pleading look as he let her go again.
"Oh, yeah." , Sam agreed with him.
"Please," , Tee was almost pleading.
"I wouldn't mind either" , Joe agreed with his colleagues, after pressing a kiss to y/n's lips. He held the sleeping Mason in his arms, who had fallen asleep after an exciting half hour playing with the boys.
"Don't worry, boys. I'm sure Mason will be begging me to come back here every day now. And he won't stop until he's big enough to be on the field himself."
A big grin formed on the faces of Logan, Sam and Tee and they were satisfied with the answer, so after a short small talk they disappeared into the cabin and left the little family alone.
"That was really a lot of fun. I hope to do this a lot with Mason," Joe enthused. Joe enthused, unaware that y/n had prepared something for Joe and Mason at home, which of course had to do with football.
And who knew if Joe himself would be sitting in the stadium in a few years to watch his own son play and cheer him on.

you’re perfect
summary: you try out a tik tok trend on your boyfriend joe.
warnings: none
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
I walk into the kitchen where Joe is sitting at the counter eating lunch. Unbeknownst to him I’m filming for TikTok.
“Hey baby. What’s up?” He says with a huge grin on his face.
“Nothing I just wanted to tell you about this game.”
“Okay.. What game?” He eyes me, confused.
“Well first I need you to give me a girls name.” I reply nonchalantly.
“A girls name?”
“Yes, we need it for the game.”
“Alright.. well I don’t know a girls name.” He shrugs as he stands to put his dishes in the sink before coming to stand in front of me.
“What? You know plenty of girls names.” I smack his shoulder.
“I feel like this is a setup.”
“Baby.. just give me a name.”
“Fine. How about we just use your name? It’s my favorite anyway.” He grins, leaning down and placing a kiss on top of my head.
“Seriously?”
“Well if you don’t want to use yours we will use my moms.” My heart swells as he says that. I should’ve known this trend wouldn’t work.
“This isn’t fair. How are you so perfect?” I groan out as a turn the camera to where he can see that I’m filming.
“I’m not sure I’m following.” He laughs as he glances over.
“It’s a TikTok trend.”
“So this was a setup? Baby next time you need to try a little harder. I’m not an idiot and I never think of anyone else.” He says pulling me into him and looking straight into the camera, “And all you men out there.. take notes.” He laughs and then gives an awkward thumbs up. I love how adorkable he is.
I play the video back and start cracking up at how irritated I look that he isn’t falling for my tricks.
“You should post that baby. You look beautiful.” Joe says from over my shoulder. When the two of us first started dating we had agreed to keeping things private but not secret. Everyone is well aware that we are a couple but when it comes to social media we don’t share much about each other, so I truly wasn’t expecting him to say that.
“For real?” I question turning to look at him.
“Yes. For real. I love you.” He leans down and captures my lips in a soft kiss before grabbing his gym bag to head to the training facility for the rest of the day.
After much contemplation I finally pull out my phone to film an intro for the video “Hi guys, today we are going to be asking my boyfriend to give me a female name and see how it goes.” I give a slight giggle before ending the recording and editing the two clips together. I type out the caption “You can’t catch ‘em all.” before posting it to my page.

𝐈𝐃𝐆𝐀𝐅 || 𝐉𝐎𝐄 𝐁𝐔𝐑𝐑𝐎𝐖
i am suffering from the worst writers block ever! i only really had inspiration to write this fic in general so updates on my other requests and fics will take a little more time :)
IDGAF means “i don’t give a fuck” by the way for those who don’t know. I also had to research an appropriate job description this reader can brag about, enjoy! ;)
𝐏𝐚𝐢𝐫𝐢𝐧𝐠: Joe Burrow x Reader
𝐒𝐮𝐦𝐦𝐚𝐫𝐲: You notice the Bengals’ new staff member flirting with your boyfriend, however, Joe thinks that you are acting childish for saying so— you decide to show Joe that you didn't give a fuck.
𝐖𝐚𝐫𝐧𝐢𝐧𝐠: 18+ mature content, cursing, in denial!Joe, light angst, fluff, flirting, arguing, jealousy?, established relationship, party setting, mentions of alcohol consumption, slight sexual tension, some dirty talking, smut?, pda, allusion to sex, sexual tension, no cheating!, badass!reader, slight groveling, paparazzi
𝐌𝐢𝐬𝐜. 𝐌𝐚𝐬𝐭𝐞𝐫𝐥𝐢𝐬𝐭 || 𝐌𝐚𝐢𝐧 𝐌𝐚𝐬𝐭𝐞𝐫𝐥𝐢𝐬𝐭
Tumblr media Tumblr media
The speakers were blaring all throughout the club— the colorful flashing lights danced across each and everyone’s skin as it circles the place.
Sitting with your legs crossed you giggled as you listened to one of your closest friend rant about a recent embarrassing moment that happened to her at her office— you are currently surrounded by the entire Cincinnati Bengals team at the VIP area of the club— the staff, crew, coaches, players, and their significant others celebrating their win at the AFC Championship not long ago.
You were sitting prettily next to a couple of WAGs wearing a copper halter neck jumpsuit that hugged your body in the right places, showcasing your curves while accentuating your height— alternating from taking a sip from your drink and nodding to what your friends were discussing, not long after, you felt a familiar warm heat land on your upper thigh.
Looking to your right, you were met with your boyfriend, Joe who was busy speaking with Sam and Tee— his eyes trained on them, however, his large hands was on your right thigh, running his hands up and down, occasionally squeezing it from time to time.
Joe was a very private person especially when it comes to his personal life. So he is not the type of guy who would do PDA and you were okay with that— it was never really your goal to flaunt your relationship with Joe out in the open— in fact, you enjoy the moments you have in private, the Joe you and only you can see.
“You should send me that video. It sounds way too good to be true.” you chucked, brushing the strands of your hair away from your face as you jokingly pointed at your friend— teasing her about the failed tiktok she attempted to do in her office that her boss caught her doing.
“If I do, you’ll have to do it with me.” She laughs.
Before you could reply back, Joe interrupted you from your conversation, “Babe, I’d like you to meet someone.” He said.
Turning to look at your boyfriend, you were met with an unfamiliar redhead.
“This is, Stacie— she is the new athletic trainer of the team.” Joe introduced her.
Getting a good look at the girl, she was pretty, Stacie was a little bit shorter than you, with red hair that was curled behind her, she was wearing a white dress, and she had a huge smile on her face that rubbed you the wrong way— you were all for women supporting women but you can smell bitches from a mile away.
It’s a talent.
It was a self defense mechanism.
You grew up in a well-off family— that only meant fake friends, fake love, fake sympathies, fake laughs— fake smiles. Growing up in such way you have learned to spot the difference from the people who genuinely enjoy your company and the people who wanted to be best friends because your dad drove a Rolls Royce.
“Hi, Stacie. I’m Y/N, nice to meet you.” you greeted her with a soft smile that funnily enough was as fake as hers.
“Do you also work for the Bengals? I don’t think I’ve ever seen you around the facility.” Stacie asked, turning her head to look at you and then at Joe.
“No, I don’t work there— I’m Joe’s girlfriend.”
And just like that her plastered smile faltered by a second— a twitch that only you managed to catch.
“Stacie has been helping me with my knee a lot.” Your boyfriend chimes in making the redhead peer up at the quarterback in awe at the acknowledgment, you could practically hear her purring.
Shaking your head off those thoughts, you took a deep breath and managed to give Stacie a real smile, “Thank you, I’m glad he’s in good hands.” I nodded at her, cause at the end of the day, she was good at her job— she wouldn’t be qualified for hire if she wasn’t. That’s all you cared about— that Joe was being taken care of, especially when it comes to his injuries.
You trusted Joe with every ounce of your being and he trusted you— there was no reason for you to nitpick on every little detail you find off from that woman. You trusted your boyfriend’s judgement, and knowing Joe, you know how hard it is for him to trust people as well— so as long as he thinks she’s cool then you’re cool.
You were rising above.
“Oh, he’s in very good hands.” Stacie giggled before running her hand up and down your boyfriend’s bicep.
Looking towards Joe, he simply chucked in response.
You could feel your eye twitch.
You were rising above— You repeated in your head as if it was some sort of mantra.
Joe was being nice. That’s it. He is a nice man.
“So, Y/N, right? Let me tell you— I have been enjoying my time as an AT for the Bengals. Joe has been doing so well and has helped me feel right at home.” She giggles again before continuing, “I’m sorry, I’m talking too much about myself. How about you? What do you do?” She asks.
What do I do?— Joe fucking Burrow that’s what.
“I’m a creative director” you sipped on your drink side eyeing Joe as he laughs with Ja’marr— still refusing to acknowledge the fact that Stacie’s hand was still on him.
“Aw, that’s cute. For who?” she raised her eyebrow, taunting you as she feigned interest.
“Vogue.”
That seems to shut her up for the meantime.
You weren’t one to brag about the achievements and blessings in your life but she was pushing your last buttons— Joe included.
“I’ll go grab a drink.” Stacie told Joe as if he cared where she was headed.
You silently watched her walk towards the bartender before making your way closer to Joe who turned towards you in time. Your boyfriend eyed you up and down before placing a kiss on the temple of your forehead.
“You look like you were having fun with Stacie, If I wasn’t mistaken it seems like you found another best friend, huh?” Joe moved closer towards you as you stoically stared at him.
“It sounds like you are mistaken cause I wasn’t having fun at all.” You said to him in a lighthearted way, almost sarcastic as you watched his eyebrows furrow in confusion.
“You’re not having fun, baby?” Joe questions circling his arms around your waist.
“I was having fun— not with her though and I don’t think we’ll be friends anytime soon.” You shrugged not bothering to explain as you laid your head on his chest.
“What do you mean?”
Rolling your eyes, you lifted your head to look back up at the quarterback, “Joe, she clearly has a thing for you, she’s been flirting at you the entire time— right in front of my face too.” you sighed.
Joe simply shook him head, “She wasn’t, babe. She was just being nice.”
“Oh, I didn’t know being nice involved caressing someone’s bicep in front of that someone’s girlfriend.” You said sarcastically as you pushed yourself off of Joe’s embrace.
“Babe, she’s a touchy person that’s it. That doesn’t mean she was flirting.” Joe runs his hand across his hair frustratedly as he stared at you. You don’t know why Joe is deciding to act stupid— it was either he was playing stupid or he was just stupid and you hoped for it to be the latter— which concluded to Joe being stupid.
You eyed your boyfriend’s innocence, yeah, let’s call it that. Chuckling, you gave Joe a look, “Joe, baby, she’s flirting— hundred percent. She looks at you as if you cured cancer and I don’t blame her. Hell, millions of people look at you that way, Joe and I’m fine with that. My problem with her is the fact that not only was she disrespecting you with her touching but she was also disrespecting me by doing so.”
“Joe, I don’t mind her liking you— I trust you and I know for a fact that you won’t do anything to destroy that trust but what I cannot take is disrespect, Joey you know that.” you finished softly, hoping your boyfriend could take a hint.
“I know that, baby— but I’m just saying she’s a friend who is being friendly that’s it.”
Joe was being stubborn and you don’t think that screaming at him in public was technically “rising above”.
Before you could reply back, Stacie nudges her way between you and Joe— the redhead now had her arms wrapped around your boyfriend’s neck, making Joe lean down to her height so that she can whisper whatever to his ear.
You were pretty sure you had steam coming out of your ears as you watched Joe let her do whatever to him. It takes time for Joe to warm up to people, it took you a year of friendship for him to be even comfortable with you touching him— platonically even.
Now watching your boyfriend have absolutely no problem letting a woman he just met touch him is hurting you.
Zach Taylor calls Stacie over to introduce her to more people, ultimately leaving you and Joe in your seats as you listened to the pumping music in the background that accompanied the ringing in your ear.
“Wow, am I third-wheeling?” you joked, trying to mask the pain and anger lingering in your voice but to no avail it shows.
“What are you talking about, baby?” Joe turns back towards you with a confused yet frustrated look on his face which was pissing you off even more.
“Don’t fucking baby me, Joseph. What the fuck was that? You just let her touch you like that it front of me? I don’t know if you’ve been tackled way too hard today but you have seem to forget that I’m your girlfriend.” You argued, silently thanking the loud music for masking your voice and the dark lights for hiding your now pissed off look.
There were fans all around the bar— thankfully they were outside the VIP lounge but that didn’t stop them from taking pictures and videos of their favorite NFL players— you didn’t need videos of you and Joe fighting in public.
“Again with this? Y/N, seriously you’re being childish— stop being so fucking jealous and for the last time she’s being friendly.” Joe grunts as he finishes his entire drink in frustration.
Childish and jealous
Childish is what your so-called friends would call you back in high school when you confronted them for using you for money. Childish is what they called you when you refused to be their friend anymore. Childish is what your boyfriend of four years calls you for after defending a bitch that was flirting with him.
And jealous?
Bitch please. You were never jealous. Not once were you jealous of anyone in your life. You were the only child in a wealthy family— you had loving parents who spoiled you, you went to the best schools, had the best clothes, you have the best job that people will kill for, you have real friends that cared about you, as much as Joe was pissing you off— he was the best boyfriend.
You weren’t jealous of her, she was jealous of you.
You love Joe with all your being but if he even thinks about cheating on you with her or anyone in that matter— then they can have him.
Yes, he’s the Joe Burrow. The number one overall draft pick, the star player and quarterback of Cincinnati Bengals— but you were you, you were simply better.
And you’ve had it— having the Joe Burrow as your boyfriend has its ups and downs and you've learned to navigate through it together after years and years but this was something Joe needs to figure this out alone since he wants to act dumb.
Joe Burrow have officially crossed you in a way he hasn’t before and after this you know he’s gonna wish he hadn’t.
“Ok. I’m gonna go dance.” you said nonchalantly before leaving your boyfriend alone more confused now than ever as he watches you leave with the a few WAGs to the dance floor which was filled with people.
“Girl, are you ok? That Stacie was flirting with Joe so hard. Did you talk to him?”
“What did Joe say?”
“I swear to God if she makes a move on my man next — she’s gonna get fired.”
“Did you you two fight?”
All the questions being thrown you as you all danced in your own circle. You gave them a brief rundown of what happened they stared at you shocked.
“So? What are you gonna do?” One of them asked.
“Absolutely nothing.” You smiled as you moved your hips around to the beat.
“What?!” A collective response was met with a smirk on your face.
“He’s gonna figure it out all on his own— as of now, I don’t give a fuck.”
As you took on if the girls’ hands, dancing together to Reminder by The Weeknd which was ironically perfect for your situation— you felt heat from the side of your head, you didn’t need to turn around to know that Joe was staring at you— you wanted him to.
“Y/N, Joe is undressing you with his eyes.” one of your friends says nodding towards Joe.
You simply gave her a grin, “I’m hot. Who wouldn’t, honestly?”
“Miss Stacie looks like a kicked puppy and Joe is sat far away from her— seems like your plan is working.”
Of course it is.
You knew that without you next to Joe that Stacie would make her move— that gave your boyfriend all the time in the world to realize that you were right all along.
You feigned innocence, still dancing and singing to the song as one of your friends started to film you and the others.
“Ever time you try to forget who I am, I’ll be right there to remind you again— you know me~” you sang to the camera.
As you continued to dance, Joe couldn’t help but stare at you— a cloud of emotion lingering in him. He was very much in love with you and how good you are at moving your hips, he was guilty for calling childish and arguing with you, he was angry at himself for not believing you, he was also thoroughly furious at Stacie.
As soon as you left to dance, after replying to him unemotionally that scared that absolute shit out of him— Stacie immediately latched onto his side, giggling over something she found amusing that Joe seems to find himself not caring.
“Joe you look really good in this.” She says leaning towards him as she twirled her finger around his chest which ultimately rang red alarms all over Joe’s head— taunting him almost.
“Thanks” Joe says clearly uncomfortable as he politely moved her away from him but to his surprise she moved again towards him again, her mouth now on his ears as she whispered, “Do you wanna go somewhere more quiet, Joey?”
That was it for Joe.
He pushed her off him and quickly stood up— and glared at the redhead, the same redhead he defended to his girlfriend who was convinced she was disrespectful for flirting with him— and she was right.
Y/N is always right and Joe hated himself for not believing his girlfriend of four years.
“Stacie, I have a girlfriend who is not far from here and overall, you technically work for me, so this is unprofessional.” Joe said firmly to the redhead who just stared at him like she didn’t care.
Maybe because she didn’t.
“So? That’s why I asked you if we could go somewhere quiet. No one has to know.” She smirked.
And just like that he lost all the respect he has for her.
“I love my girlfriend and you both disrespected me and her. I’ll be talking with Zach in the morning about this— this is against a lot of the companies rules. I’ll also request for Zach to assign me a different AT— goodbye.” He turned his back towards her and sat himself in between Tee, Sam and Ja’marr who laughed at him.
“Took you long enough.” Ja’marr shook his head looking at him.
“What? How did you know?” The quarterback asks his friends who looked at him as if he was stupid.
He was.
“Everyone could see her flirting with you, man. It was painfully obvious— Zach already said he’s gonna talk to Stacie tomorrow. Don’t think she’ll have a job in the morning.” Ja’marr explained before chugging his drink down.
“And you didn’t bother telling me?” Joe asked exasperated, disbelief in his face as he stared at his friends.
“First of all, you’re a grown man— you should have figured out yourself a long time ago and secondly, your girlfriend told us not to do anything and according to her ‘to let you figure it out’” Tee explained doing air quotes with his fingers.
“She told you?”
“Yeah, we threatened to beat you up when we saw Stacie on you but your girl had other plans.”
Joe remained stunned thoughts circling his head as he watched you grind you hips against the other girls.
“Stop drooling and apologize to her, man.” Sam snapped Joe out of his viewing experience.
Without a second thought Joe’s long legs took him right behind you in just a few strides.
You didn’t need to see who was behind you to know that Joe was towering over you— a familiar heat draws you to him like magnetic, that and your friends gave you cheeky grins and winks before dispersing across the club.
However, you kept your back towards him, refusing acknowledge his presence. Knowing Joe, you knew that he was gonna take you somewhere private and quiet to talk— away from people seeing but to your surprise, Joe wraps his arms around you making you stiffen up before relaxing in his hold.
Joe was dancing behind you.
Good Lord— your handsomely hot boyfriend’s 6’4 stature was grinding onto you from behind.
What in the literal fuck.
“Joe wha– what are you doing?” You managed to choke out as you fought a moan coming out of your mouth as you felt his now hard length grind on your ass.
“Do you feel that? Huh, baby? That’s what you do to me, Y/N.” Joe breathes out into your hair.
“I know but why here? Let’s go somewhere els–” you rushed not wanting your boyfriend to feel obligated to do such things despite his discomfort in public display of affection.
“No. Baby I want to. You’re right, you’re right, you’re right. I’m so sorry, baby. You’re right about everything and I realize that now— you don’t have to worry about her anymore, I’ve dealt with it, my love.”
Turning around to face Joe, you see the sincerity, the vulnerability, the guilt, and anger in his eyes.
You knew he meant every word.
“I was never worried about her. I was worried about you.” You simply answered him, giving him a tight lipped smile, making him lean his forehead onto yours— determined more now than ever to see your real smile.
“I’m sorry for not believing you, I’m sorry for arguing with you and calling you such things, I’m sorry for making you think that I didn’t care— I do, baby. I love you so much.” Joe just kept on going, hoping to see your bright smile back up at him again.
“It hurt you know. It took me years to get you to be comfortable with me— and that’s only for our friendship but then watching you be so comfortable with her in such a short amount of time— it hurt.” you confessed, fiddling with your fingers as you watch the pain fill Joe’s face in the realization.
“I didn’t mean to make you feel that way. I’m sorry— but did you know why I was so uncomfortable with you touching me when we first started hanging out? It was because I was crushing on you hard, Y/N. I new it was you the moment we became friends and every time you hugged me, touched me, kissed me, it felt like I would go insane— I still do.”
Joe caresses your arms as he explains, slowly placing them around his neck as he swayed the two of you slowly— the two of you in your little corner of the club, the dancing bodies of strangers now became nothing but the background.
It was just you and Joe.
“But you know what I realized? Fuck it. I’m sorry it took me four years but fuck it. Who cares if they see us dancing in public? Who cares if videos of us touching each other reaches the internet? Everyone knows we’re dating— who cares? They should be worried about what we do in private.” Joe rants to himself mostly before whispering the last part in your ear— his soft lips kissing your earlobe before making its way down to your neck.
Joe licks and sucks onto the most sensitive part of your neck— marking you for the world to see, knowing very well the amount of fans and paparazzi were waiting for them outside.
“Let me take you home, Y/N. So that everyone will know your mine if they don’t already— I want all of them to know, the fans, the media, that bitch Stacie.” Joe continues before placing a wet kiss on your mouth, your tongues both fighting for dominance, teeth clashing as your lips gets sucked between his— Joe’s hands caressing every part of your body.
“I love you, please let me show you how much.” Joe practically begs making your squeeze your legs together even more.
“Take me home then.” you challenged a devilish smile forming on your face.
And before you know it, Joe was dragging you out of the club not even bothering to say goodbye to everyone— once you and Joe reached the outside, you were greeted by cameras taking pictures of you and Joe— your boyfriend keeps you locked in between his arms as you two navigated towards his car, heading home for the next party to begin.
You were right about one thing today: That Stacie was a two-faced bitch.
However, Joe was right about two things today: One, is the paparazzi did in fact wrote articles about the fresh hickeys on your neck as you and Joe raced out of the club disheveled, ultimately causing a stir in the media— and two, he did in fact love you very very very much and he showed you in a lot of different ways.
