wonder.
the sun beamed down upon an ocean of grass, trees and flowers alike waving hello as you passed. cecilia’s stretched into your field of view, craving the soft linger of your fingertips, and the insects watched from afar, letting butterflies and birds cross your path instead. the earth swallowed sharp rocks and threatening stones, allowing you to move unhindered. the air was calm, perfect, the slightest of breezes brushing across your skin and rippling your clothes. the sun was warm, but not hot, there just enough for the wind to soothe.
joy.
the statue was tall, it’s figure kind. the small blue ball pulsed as you approached, but there was no surge as with the traveller. instead, it was as if the world around you became more alive for a moment, an invisible voice on the wind saying hello. you did not wield the wind, it followed you. it guided your hand up to birds and other wildlife, it swayed the lamp grass as you passed, encouraging you to pick one of the small plants to take with you. the earth will not mind, for to travel with you is payment ten times over.
confusion.
the city’s walls stretched tall, imposing, an island that lost any welcome to its character. you want to frown as the wind urges you away, towards the peaceful fields once more. the slimes are tame in your presence, the hilichurls have gifted you fruit, and the wilderness has been so pleasant; won’t you agree to stay a little longer? you don’t want to, you remember the city, the guards at the front and the birds on the bridge. it is not an enemy. the wind insists it is.
concern.
the boy stared as you passed, though his birds did not flee. they hopped up to you, as all others have, and you stopped to pet them. the pidgeons cooed and chirped, the small claws on their feet clicking against the stone. the boy was running, the wind urging you to run, even as you straightened. why? why were you in danger? why was the boy talking to the guards?
apprehension.
a sharp shout. a pale cry. man and animal alike cried injustice. weapons were taken from their place, blades drawn from sheaths, helmets joining the rest of the armor. you stand, surrounded by birds, by the wind, by the butterflies that land on your shoulders and flap their wings in a small sort of rage. the guards form a wall, a platoon, one that’s shouting words you don’t understand. you haven’t done anything, so why are they angry? the wind urges you to run. you hold your ground.
unease.
two- three people push their way to the front, blue uniforms and purple hats and white fur gleaming under the suddenly too-hot sun. the guards ask the woman in the middle a question. she nods.
indecision.
the wind howls a storm, the sun beating down upon the metal armor. the birds cry and caw, the bridge quickly turning into a hurricane of distrust with you at the eye. a small figure launches themself off the city wall, landing in a crouch in front of the three. they do not look surprised; neither do the guards. he’s reaching for something at his side. do you run, as the wind so desperately urges you to?
tension.
the small figure shouts a warning you do not hear, his words hidden within the gale surrounding you. a moment’s pause. everything happens at once.
calamity.
the guards draw their swords, the three at the front doing the same with the exception of the woman on the left, who pulls a book out of nowhere. the boy in the front raises a bow—the air is only barely able to redirect it from you in time.
horror.
the birds flutter as you turn, finally understanding the hurricane’s call. the insects around you buzz angrily, you’re surprised they’re not swept up in the storm but are too caught up in running. the stone is hard under your feet, the wind at your back pushing you along at an almost inhuman speed. you understand why it didn’t want you hear, why it fought with silent words and pulled with invisible hands. you wish you had trusted it.
fear.
your feet thudded against the earth, digging in and kicking up, digging in and kicking up, pushing you along your path. you couldn’t falter, you couldn’t stop, you couldn’t. you had to run. shouts and cries followed you, human and not, the trees opening before you only to swing back down in the face of your attackers. the cyclone around you spurs you forward, and you follow wherever it leads. you know better.
you only wish it hadn’t come at such a price.

(oh and here be many spoilers)
(but pictures too!)
please note I am not a pro gamer or anything. I sucked so bad when I first started this game (I had no idea wtf I was doing). Like seriously. I didn't know what an action was. what a bonus action was. "No movement left". WHAT DO YOU MEAN NO MOVEMENT LEFT. I had played DnD once before.
I literally bought this game because of Astarion.
I usually play one game and that is Overwatch. the only other time I stopped playing OW was to play Resident Evil: Village because of Lady D. vampire marketing works on me. specifically evil vampire. damn u Neil and Maggie.
if you have any questions about a specific boss or something feel free to ask! I didn't fight everyone though - like I did not do House of Grief because I didn't need to and also it's hard :)

ANYWAY. letsa go! this is very rambling!
Like I said in my reply to anon, the best tip is to do tactician FIRST. You’ll get destroyed otherwise. I didn’t finish my tactician run but I did get to act 3 and I did most boss fights (Gortash, Raphael, Cazador). Bosses have legendary actions in tactician and it’s fucking annoying. All the homies hate radiant retort….
Another tip is fucking collect everything. It’s hard to get gold and certain potion ingredients later on. Potion of Speed (you need hyena ears for this) is the BEST. I used them for my Ketheric fight (second phase) and killed him in three turns. I also used them for the final fight and used one or two with Raphael and Orin.
Smokepowder Barrels. I think people call this Barrelmancy? I didn't use them much. I hoarded them for one reason and one reason only.
To blow Raphael.
His soul pillar towers that is. To blow up his pillars. His big long pillars.
Okay I'm done.
(also I did use three in my last fight against the brain - popped them next to it and blew 'em up)
Elixir of Bloodlust - sooooo handy with Astarion!
Invisibility Potion is a must - I used this to escape fights when three people were deaded (this happened a few times😅) and get my good friend Withers to bring them back.
bonus tip: don't go into a fight with half your spell slots because you think "she'll be right". she won't be...as seen above
HOLY FUCK WITHERS.
You can pickpocket Withers. I used Astarion to get our money back anytime I resurrected, changed class or got a hireling - he doesn’t care if you fail either, just keep trying.
DON'T BE DUMB LIKE MISSY
Don't be like me, don't half pay attention in cut scenes and accidentally press the wrong dialogue option. Or else your good friend Lae'zel will turn on you and you will have A Bad Time.
Gale has a stressful day💗
The githyanki are scary and actually now that I think about it, those were usually the fights I had to run away from like a leetle biatch.
Halsin has a stressful day 💗
I forgot that Psionic Backlash is like a thing that does damage and that if your entire worm filled party does it and the person you are casting is at like...say 19 health...they will die because that is not Passive Damage.
And then Jaheira will leave because you murdered her friend.
Oopsie.

GENERAL STUFF
Always surprise the enemy if you can, it’s a massive advantage!
Get the eye from Volo. This run was not about looking pretty, it was about getting any advantage I could get. Let that man poke out your eyeball. And make sure it’s your Tav, you will mostly likely swap companions and it’s just better if it’s you.
It's helpful in a lot of fights but especially Auntie Ethel
Become half illithid. I did this with my Tav, Gale and Minthara. Astarion was a little bitch about it so I didn’t give it to him but I wish I had made him do it.
She looks Not Great but she can fly (sorry Astarion but Z'hera only likes pussy)
Being able to fly is just SO helpful and cull the weak is OP! Also mmmmm worms :)
MY BUILD/PARTY
A Giant Woman (my tiefling) as a Paladin - Oath of Vengeance.
I broke my oath when I ascended Astarion but you can just get it back. Oathbreaker is still good (that’s what I was in my tactician run) but I wanted my channel divinity charges. I started with the Everburn Blade from the cambion Commander Zhalk on the Nautaloid (when you get Shart, give her the Command Spell and use “Drop” so you can just yoink it off him and save a fight).
My final weapon was the Nyrulna which you can get in Act 3 at the Circus. To get this you must pickpocket the genie to take his ring and then play his game. He will accuse you of cheating and send you somewher. The prize at the end is this weapon. I love it. I just went invisible and walked through, I didn’t fight the creatures there.
Astarion - the classic gloomstalker/assasin. I had one level assasin and then did 6 levels ranger before going back to assassin. So he was 6 levels in each. With him ascended, he does INSANE damage. I never swap out that vamp, he’s too useful.
Shart/Minthara - I lost Shart in the Shadowfell - wouldn't let her murder Dame Aylin.
a simpler time. before I killed my beloved and my brain was full of worms.
I had to fight her (it was very sad). I changed her class to Life of Domain Cleric. I then made Minthara my cleric when Shart died (same build). She replaced my lover and my cleric <3

Gale - Evocation Wizard so I didn’t change him at all!
he's so hopeful. and Z'hera is very gay.
TIPS FOR POTIONS
If it’s throwable (like invisibility) group the gang together to throw one on the ground to get you all - saves using multiple.
Potion of Speed has an effect called lethargic that is active for one round after the potion ends. This means you miss a turn. HOWEVER! If you drink another one on the last active round of the potion, your Tav will become lethargic immediately and next round you’ll be fine :) I did this for the Ketheric fight.
It’s also helpful (because of lethargic) to not have all characters take the potion in the same round (if you give it to everyone). I never did, I usually gave them to Gale and my Tav.
I hoarded so many scrolls. I had so many dimension door scrolls at the end.
I did get the Necromancy of Thay and did all the things. And then I never used it :)
BIGGEST TIP ONCE YOU'VE UNLOCKING LEVEL 6 SPELL SLOT WITH CLERIC (ALSO AVAILABLE WITH DRUID)
I saw this on reddit! Pretty much what I did was get a hireling - Cleric - and have that Cleric cast Heroes' Feast on my party.
The affected entity is immune to Diseases, Poisons, and being Frightened, it makes all Wisdom Saving throws with Advantage, and its maximum Hit Points are increased by 12
Lasts until long rest!! I also then cast Freedom of Movement on everyone in the party. I then cast Warding Bond on someone - usually Gale because he's a squishy boy :)
If I knew it was a BIG FIGHT! I got another Cleric to cast Warding Bond on another party member.
you can see Heroes' Feast (the condition is called Thoroughly Stuffed) and Freedom of Movement.
These all last until long rest!
Pretty much any other companions were respeced as Cleric (though I made Jaheira a Wizard same as Gale so I could use her). I did this so that I could use Divine Intervention multiple times within the game!
I used Opulent Revival and nothing else
KEEP IN MIND.

He’s so fucking vile. Like there really aren’t words for how evil his shit was. I haven’t been that worked up and disturbed over an antagonist in a hot minute.
I loved his monologuing before Sanemi had his ✨breakdown✨ just straight unrepentant evil. Giggling and laughing all while telling the terrible details… I almost feel like going through the Shinazugawa blender was still a nicer end than he deserved.
And god fucking damn Peach you executed it brilliantly. You painted such a clear picture this chapter especially like it was a movie in my little mind!!!

lots of my fics have happy endings ;))))) as for the happiest... ahh, probably If It Means a Lot to You (zukaang, rated M) and Flowers Never Pick Themselves (zutaraang, rated M).

er, yes and no? i feel like hate is a strong word. it's more so that there are some readers who have simply ~disliked~ certain premises of mine, which, y'know, is what it is! click away or write your own shit! ♥

mmm. this is a bit hard for me to answer because i feel like i could use improvement everywhere, always. i could probably use some more work in my dialogue though (just having more of it, i think). with conflict resolution as well - circling back to angst, i usually gloss over it because i want [my] characters to have nothing but good times and good endings. i need to be less wary of putting them through some shit, which i am working on!
anywayyy. my biggest strength is my prose!

up for debate, but personally my weakness is outlines. i try to use them but my brain does not like having "rules" when it comes to creating a story, even if i am the one to write them ;;
18. Thoughts on writing dialogue in another language in a fic?
i'm a native (american) english speaker, so this question feels.. odd? bc ~american~? but as a native english speaker, i absolutely don't mind at all. i love languages and i love letting them into my brain! i myself use words from different languages, especially in what i'm writing is based in another country/place of origin.

Endgame Archangel Castiel is something I have never heard about and now I am deathly curious please tell me about endgame archangel castiel
okay so first of all I AM TEAM ANGEL CAS ENDGAME i’ll take him however i can get and i’m by no means averse to human cas he’s so darling to me but i just think that
it’s important to me that his full grace is restored. so archangel cas comes into play with the resurrection of angels and demons aka the emptying of the empty version of postcanon. i think it’s EXTRA juicy if he fulfills the role in the hierarchy left open by lucifer. because rebellious fallen angel go brrrr and fuck mark pellegrino all my homies hate that bitch. anyway i think it’s the perfect space for him. he always winds up in a position of solitary leadership but we see time and time again that he was a soldier and also just. doesn’t like being the one guy in charge. but archangel cas…… now that’s yummy. i’ve never been satisfied with how raphael was treated in the series, and to give my best archangel cas pitch i’d have to rewatch those seasons, but i think that having them not only be equals but ON THE SAME SIDE would be. oh yeah. big time. i also think that the archangels as a whole are such a tragedy within the script of spn that to bring them back together would give us spectacular dialogue. gabriel is tired and done and wanted things to be over, michael well i could go rounds about michael but i think that him and adam’s visage combined would be unique, and then taking raphael and his goals. throwing cas into that mix, the last true children of god plus the guy god kept fucking up and tell them they’re family again. holy fucking shit yknow. OH BUT ALSO obviously he’d be souped up and wouldn’t die easily and could help others. yeah

Blooming Panic: Full Bloom Edition Game Review
Spoilers Ahead
May I present to you Mystic Messenger's less overwhelming counterpart.
Blooming panic was something I played a few months ago while searching for something new and refreshing to play and it really did the trick Blooming panic has
Amazing art
Beautiful Voice Acting
Great Story
Interesting and Lovable characters (Both the romancable and the non-romancable ones)
Realistic Dialogue that I would see in an actual server (And fandom) from actual people.
Blooming Panic (Or Bloomic) has sort of the same hook as MM, you are a fan of a webcomic called Blooming Panic and one day you mysteriously recieve an invite to a server for fans of the webcomic.
Bloomic doesn't really focus on how you got the invite, why links to the server keep getting deleted and such until NakedToaser's route and its really a breath of fresh air from lore-heavy, confusing stories. Bloomic doesn't shine in its great stories in my opinion, it shines in its characters and their interactions with one another. When you play, it truly feels like you're in a fan server. The way they fangirl/fanboy over fanarts, Ship wars, some of the members being more devoted to Bloomic and others. Plus the way they respond is realistic.
So I've talked too long about the dialogue and not the characters, it is an otome game after all. There are a total of 11 characters who appear and 9 are active characters who appear and interact with you in every route and 4 are romancable. Each of the characters have very diverse personalities and play different roles in each route, I'm not gonna go over them all but I am going to be going over the lis and their routes.
The first is a menace to society, a lurker in the shadows ready to pounce you with a funny quip.. this is no other than our resident troll.. xyx. Holy shit did xyx remind me of so many people I know, hes got the same attitude, everyone treats him and his jokes the same way and he has the same dilemma. xyx was the first route I did and honestly, it was a bit over the place, I think his main conflict is his cat and his injury? but he had alot of stuff. Buut, very enjoyable. The voice actor(Mike Young) is absolutely wow (kudos to him for doing the tongue twisters lol). Overall 8/10 maybe?
Our next guy is a little jealous, a college student, has a bit of a habit of staying up, blonde, 5'7 and a cutie <3
Ah.. wait a minute.
There he is.. may I present to you, Night Owl. Nightowl is a bit overwhelming ngl. Honestly he scared me quite a bit, he is very loveable but he can get really expressive and it can become suffocating to stay, especially in the videocall where he gets drunk before his exam. Still, his story was very interesting and had me glued more than xyx's did. btw still waiting for that onion videocall, please onion route robobarbie
The next guy is buff and tired dad of the server, no other than Quest. Ngl Quest isn't really my type so I wasn't really excited to play his route but it was very sweet. One thing I have to say though, fuck societyboy, all my homies hate societyboy. Fr saw the joker movie and decided the joker was his idol smh. I ended up swooning over Quest though, hes the perfect mix of promising he'll bring you home by 9 and your daughter calls me daddy. very nice...
Last boy is Nakedtoaster, don't let his name fool you.. he is.. very serious. This is the last route you'll play and it will finally address the suspicious part about all of this. This is way more serious than the others routes than a we can get over this together! type of thing.. well it sort of still is like that. The reveal of who the author of Bloomic is also here lol, much more lore focused than the other ones, I was sort of tired doing his route and I just used the max speed option alot. Nakedtoaster's good ending is VERY satisfying though, seeing everyone come back and all. It felt so relieving.
So conclusion, definitely recommend Blooming Panic, its on itch.io so go download it and swoon.
10/10 voice acting, 8/10 story, 10/10 art, 9/10 characters and 9/10 script.

I’ve been playing God of War: Ragnarok lately and Man. Oh Man. Oh my god. (spoilers and rambling below the cut)
Okay so first and foremost, I should clarify that I have not beaten the game yet. I’m currently only up to Vanaheim at the moment. That being said, there are spoilers for the game up to this point, so reader beware.
Anyways.
I really, really love how this game makes references to stuff you’ve done in 2018 (to clarify, I platinum’d that game, but I never beat it on Give Me God of War difficulty), though I’ve only really seen references to gear you’ve gotten from stuff like, say, the special armor you can get from completing Niflheim (FUCK NIFLHEIM ALL MY HOMIES FUCKING HATE NIFLHEIM), and freeing the Valkyries/beating Sigrun. So far the most prominent examples I can think of are;
- Thor mentioning Sigrun in the first time you fight him
- Brok (and Sindri?) asking about the Niflheim armor (or at least I’m assuming that’s what they were referring to when the dialogue came up)
- Atreus mentioning the Valkyries when Freya shows up to Beat Your Ass
Speaking of Thor.
That moment??? When he fucking kills you and brings you back to life with his hammer??? Holy shit. HOLY SHIT. OUGHHHH MY GOD. IT THREW ME FOR SUCH A FUCKING LOOP WHEN IT HAPPENED.
I also fucking POGGED SO HARD when the game switches to playing as Atreus when he’s sneaking out to go see Freya. Like, oh my god? Honestly I think I enjoy playing as him a little more than I do Kratos but that might just be my bias talking tbh.
I also REALLY like how the game handles the temporary companions you get when Kratos/Atreus aren’t around, and how they’re unique in their own ways. Sindri staying on the sides but throwing debuffing attacks at enemies, Brok stunning enemies so that you can execute them, Angrbroda using her Paint Magic(?) and summoning a bird, and Freya with her hexing magic. (I’m thinking Atreus might be able to get access to similar abilities since her abilities are needed to break certain obstacles, i.e the fungus vines)
Also. I was kind of expecting Atreus to have a sort of “mini-Spartan Rage” ability since we briefly saw him Rage back in 2018 before he became very ill, but him BEING ABLE TO TURN INTO A FUCKING WOLF IS THE COOLEST SHIT EVER. I’m hoping that maybe we can choose different animal forms for him to shift into since so far he also has a Bear Form but I’m not counting on it personally.
Just. Man. I have so much fucking love for this game.

Somewhere on one of my old harddrives. There exists a snippet of the start of a smut scene between two of my characters from my sim city I turned into a story. It is only about. 300 words. but it makes me blush very much these days

So fucking many, but my all time favourite that nobody caught is the following:
"There's another thing," Curtis said. "The clause involves a sort of de-Santafication process. As we get closer to the date, Santa becomes less Santa and more, well, himself. Before the Santa thing happened. What do we do if Santa notices and finds out about the clause?"
"We send him to Utah," Bernard said. Curtis made an odd noise.
The joke here being that for WHATEVER reason in the Santa Clause 2, the marriage is valid anywhere EXCEPT for in the state of Utah. Why? Idk. But I thought this line was so funny and nobody seems to have picked up on it ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

They weren't so much as SCRAPPED as they were LOST TO THE VOID when my hard drive got dunked on by a stone floor in 2016
There were two I can recall off the top of my head:
1. When the Twins Met Jack: this one had a solid like. 1k to it. It was a smile shot about the day the Twins realized hey, there's this dude in old photos who looks very similar to us? Whomst tf is he? And rush to ask Jacqueline about it
2. A Trip to Gstaad: Jack takes Jacqueline to Gstaad for skiing/snowboarding. Nasty storm hits and they get stuck at the top with a handful of mortals. shenanigans ensue, mainly "do we magically poof off? stay with these guys? or magically help these guys? decisions, decisions. all of them mediocre. I think the Twins popped over at one point to help keep the humans warm. It was a wild ride
One that I completed then SCRAPPED was Jacqueline and Elle seeing Frozen. They go a lil crazy with the references, and it was funny to indulge in ages ago but when I went back and read it I was like wow! that's cringe, Dani! So it's being reworked to be less cringe. Instead of going full fandom, Elline decides to approach frozen with SCIENCE which, of course, gets everyone very interested.
It's very, CAN WE MAKE CLOTHES WITH JUST SNOW, AND NO BASE? HOW MUCH EFFORT IS A GIANT ICE PALACE? That sort of thing, lol

A handful, yes! My fiance, my best friend, my Mom, and my sister, too. I've opened up to a few other friends about writing fanfic but got poked fun at and it made me less inclined to share with IRL folks, so I don't do that as much 🙃. It took me a LOT to open up to my newer friends and they're so sweetly supportive lmao, I love it

Probably the snippet where Dite Comes Out as Ace, or Diteline First Kiss, or an amalgamation of snippets from Crystal Springs's B Arc, which is Jack being home and making amends. OH there's also a Blinter fic that follows their meeting and courtship and shit. It's cute. And unfinished. And has been so for like. 5 years?

This is a good question! I don't have an answer! I've made stories in my head as long as I can remember. My very first story was about a hippy who lost his magic button and had to find it. The hippy looked very much like Shaggy Scooby-Doo, lmao.
Once my cousin showed me ff.net, all hell broke loose. I made so many lil OCs for me to experience fun stories in various universes! I was too afraid to post and started with original content (not fantasy, think like. Debbie Macomber Cedar Valley or w/e it was called books) and that was a GOOD experience, but for WHATEVER REASON, it was the freaking Santa clause movies that really had me writing nonstop and posting. I've yet to know why, but I know that these blorbos are now mine and I love them very dearly lol
💌 How do you feel about comments and feedback?
Love love LOVE them! All comments! I love paragraph long comments talking about fave parts or waxing poetic about different little allusions or similarities or symbols and shit I sneak in >:)
I've received ConCrit before and it was okay, but a lot of their criticism was because of like. Names for characters and such and why they were similar to place names and such, and things like. Like for example, someone being like "Why is Blaise still leading Crystal Springs? He abolished the monarchy? but is still leader?" And sometimes it's like, thanks for the crit, but like. Suspend ur disbelief/google Mayor Hazel McCallion lol. If I ever receive proper ConCrit I'll see how I feel about it then! I know it's supposed to be constructive, but the only ones I have seen forget the constructive bit and are just criticisms. Wild.

ANYTHING to do with miscommunication. FUCK miscommunication, all my hommies hate miscommunication 😠😠
💲 Would you ever open commissions?
Ugh, that's a toughie. On the one hand, maybe! I'm decent enough a writer for decent fics and such. but on the other hand, I feel as though writing commissions are hard and I worry too much about getting other characters in character, you know? so probably no

Not really, but when I do it's always something weird like, filing systems in the 1700s or weather patterns in Australia in the 2000s. that sorta shit.

So if we base it on reviews, Crystal Springs definitely. But if we base it on QUALITY of reviews and readers, it's Frostmas. Frostmas has a lot of readers who don't read CS, so it's a bit more popular! I've also done some Danny Phantom one shots and those get a good amount of notes on tumblr :)

Can't live with it, can't live without it ¯\_(ツ)_/¯. And the gentler it is, the more it sticks! Being rude/cruel/dehumanizing in your crit makes the reciever less likely to take it and improve! If you're kind and gentle and remember the positives to mention, it'll stick more :)

But Jake was the opposite, now practically incapable of forcing a smile. Not even when his dad clapped him on the back hard enough to make him flinch and ordered, “Lighten up, son. You always such a hardass around your girl?”
His father then turned to you and laughed, asking, “Is he really the best you could find?”
I just love the amount of emotional trauma packed into those two lines🙂 (fuck Hangman's dad, me and all the homies hate Hangman's dad)

100000% I'd write a story without action, I would happily write an entire novel that was just some people hanging out and having a long conversation. I think it would be great. Fuck plot all my homies hate action

I HATE killing my darlings but it is objectively correct. I have to let them lie for a while until the final edits when I have enough perspective to finally kill them. But if they're really good I'll give them a refuge in another document for saved cut bits
25. What is a weird, hyper-specific detail you know about one of your characters that is completely irrelevant to the story?
I feel like maybe this will come up in the story if it goes how I want it to go but my lead played a sassy prostitute in his school musical before capitalism destroyed his soul and this might seem like nothing but this character is a shy quiet serious type as an adult so it's a shocker for anyone who knows him now

cnovel!anon: I'm really enjoying一級律師 - I love the way GY and YSZ banter. It isn't gratuitous (some YA novels I read, I feel like they are trying too hard to be Buffy - lots of snappy dialogue jammed in for the purpose of having witty lines, without regard to making it feel realistic) but fits in well with their characters. I laughed at the way GY said he needed mint and ice before listening to YSZ to 降火, or YSZ teasing GY when (GY's knowledge of) his identity was revealed. (cont'd)
(2/3): the humor feels unforced. And I love Priest's novels (very plotty/ detailed worldbuilding), but I don't think she writes with that same gleeful spark of humor, so I understand your mother's point. I love both types of writing, just depends on my mood. 一級律師 is such a fun read so far - YSZ's pov is particularly hilarious (將進酒 starts out angsty - I'll go back to it when I'm ready for it) though I'm just starting to get into the parts with more about his backstory and bracing for knives.
3/3 You mentioned that they get together really early - I usually love the slow burn first time/getting together stories, especially the tantalizing UST, but I just got to ch 125 and cried at 有那麼一瞬間，他闔了一下眼睛,覺得自己好像又回到了二十多年前，還住在那幢舊居裡,日子慢悠悠地過著，他懶洋洋地靠在窗檯上，一邊畫著速寫，一邊半真不假地對屋裡的人說：「前兩天碰到一點麻煩事……」很奇怪，在這一瞬間的想像裡，屋裡聽他抱怨的是顧晏。So for all of my love for yearning and and (mutual) pining, having GY able give him love and support as his boyfriend at this time was lovely.

YEAH CH125. I was wary and I'll be honest, I did put the book down at one point, but now I've powered through that brief hiatus I honestly don't hate that they got together that early. The pacing of the relationship in context of where she wanted the novel to go makes sense. YSZ FINDING LOVE AND SUPPORT AFTER ALL THESE YEARS ALONE IT FUCKS ME UP UP UP UP UP and it also gives me new feelings about Xie Wen hahaha. There were a few lines in 一級律師 about YSZ walking alone for 10+ years that were super reminiscent of 判官, and I was vibing so hard.
oh okay the YSZ/GY storyline is delicious and lovely, but also the 喬/柯謹 story?!?!?! I was lying in bed punching my chest 'cause that shit hurt so bad. The devotion baby!!!!! I love that young master hahaha, he's a fucking homie.
It's interesting 'cause my coworker who was very shrug about the novel remarked that it wasn't actually about lawyers, but I find myself disagreeing very hard. MSL never once slips too gratuitously into action (imo); the stakes and pacing are all very much centered on case-building. In fact I think I found her dedication to it so impressive that even though I do objectively find this subgenre to be more boring than, say, Panguan and QQGK, I still want to keep reading because her characters frame the story in such a specific way, does that make sense??
Anyways, I'm on the final case and once I finish, I think I'll start on.....something else!! I have 將進酒 and 殺破狼 open but I might fucking go and finish QQGK first????

[no spoilers just brainrot] Finally finished Disco Elysium... how to articulate my thoughts on this game. I think to do so properly is impossible -> (guy who is pacing around the room rambling incoherently) Again I can’t say anything that hasn’t been said before but holy shit. insanely immersive, Revachol is realistic and each character was so distinct (FULLY VOICED WAS THE WAY TO GO. I loved listening to them all) The gameplay was really cool too, I liked the skill-based checks, the way some of them were possible to retry (fuck red checks all my homies hate red checks but in all honesty, they were great in adding pressure, I would always hold my breath when mentally preparing myself to click them). The skills were also fun, but also I definitely had to do a full outfit change right before talking to a character LOL I don’t want to get into any spoilers but man. some pieces of dialogue. some things that happen near the end. my brain is buzzing bc I’m still trying to process everything that happened. It is a shame that there are just some tasks that you have to leave unfinished, the ending was satisfying but I have to say not finishing those side tasks is making me itch. Also I never really utilized the thought processing thing, I think in total I only internalized four of the thoughts so I should probably do that next time... I need to replay this game twenty thousand times... and possibly go any route that is not the devastatingly-neutral-and-polite-option-every-time route (but the AA6 cartridge is looking at me accusingly so I must not) also kim kitsuragi you are the guy ever I love you
