11 Years Ago, Spring of 2266

Amy had known for years this place was a hard town. You didn’t grow up in Vault 101 without getting rough around the edges, but you got through it by keeping your friends close. There was few in the vault she could call that, but Amata had always been a real dame and Freddie was… useful. They were all that stood between crime and true justice in the vault, but not everyone saw it that way.

I'm really excited for this chapter! It's our first proper flashback! If your new I would say that if you wanna read this as a standalone you probably could since it's a flashback into the vault! This coming up a couple days after Death Shroud feels appropriate somehow.

one of my most vivid and traumatizing memories from my first playthrough of fallout 3 many years ago is a direct result of the trouble on the homefront quest. i decided to destroy vault 101 cause that was the only way you could get butch as a companion, and fun fact, that bitch is the reason i got into fallout. cringe, but that's a whole different story. anyway i really wanted him, and for some reason i really like the tunnel snakes in general. got super attached to freddie? out of all of them? dunno why. very bad idea on my part. anyway all was well until i started getting random encounters and facing the consequences of my actions in that quest. cause i stumbled upon this:

anyway thank you fallout 3 for teaching me not to get attached to meaningless side characters. also fuck butch. ruined my life. NFGNDGNGDBFD

edit: apparently i did not have to destroy the vault to get butch, only get the overseer out of power. this makes things worse.
