okay I watched restoration and I'll probably analyze it more in depth later when my brain has processed what I've watched but here are some of the thoughts I had while watching (I stopped live blogging part way through so some things may be out of order lols):
okay first thoughts: we’re at a convention, and dylan is some sort of director for some super unpopular thing. ngl that’s a pretty harsh downgrade from journalist/news correspondent.
hi kai. she seemed to be more like her s15-s17 characterization than her bg/chorus cameo characterization for the 30 seconds she was present (which I remember really disliking)
wash is in the hospital as prisoner 619b…bros did the UNSC arrest him again?!?
“I’m not even sure I got his voice right this time.” okay so restoration IS another simulation
the director being a therapist when the counselor is right there lmao

damn the “wash and lina having their trauma and traits swapped for no reason” thing is. hmmm don’t like that, have never liked that. I tried to see if I had any posts on my old blog about this topic bc I remember talking about it in the past and I sort of do? eh whatever tldr; lina is the one haunted by the past and wash is supposed to be the one giving the emotional speeches but hhhhhrng. will definitely be talking about that more later even though I thought the scene was super sweet (also ct!!!!!!! my girl!!!!)
I don’t like that they were all separated and that grif was going to leave, these mfs were forced together in a shitty box canyon at the start of the series and I feel like it would’ve been better if instead of being forced together they all chose to stay together but it is what it is.

okay ngl it was pretty rushed pacing wise and I’ve got so many bones to pick (mostly about wash bc ofc) but speaking as an ending to the series I think it works. it all started in a box canyon which was later revealed to be an elaborate training simulation, so it’s fitting that it it was revealed very early in the run time that it was all a simulation, and it all ended in the box canyon they started in. I thought the themes of feeling guilty and being able to forgive oneself were very interesting (might get into that more later as well…) so yeah.
it’s flawed, but for such a long running series that had originally been intended to only be a few episodes, I think it ending with tucker telling us it’s over and to go home is honestly the best way they could’ve done it. all the other times the series had “ended” it was done in a way where it worked as a standalone end for the series, but it was always open-ended enough that a continuation could be made if they wanted to.
there isn’t going to be a continuation this time, the story is over, but just because the story has ended doesn’t mean that we can’t make our own stories. red vs blue will live on so long as there are people who want it to, which feels pretty on the dime doesn’t it?

this is my Strix Druid Kirii that i made for a pathfinder game me and @evieebun125 are going to start sometime
it was funny cuz i used a background generator and it came up with the most dramatic and sad backstory for her that i just had to run with :’D
i was working with the idea that do to there short life spans they age 2 years to the humans 1, which probably isnt correct i couldn't fine much information on it
the story goes when she was 2 ( human age 4) she found a cursed pocket watch that ended up killing her parents leaving her and her older brother and sister orphans (because i roll her parents were dead and she had 2 siblings an that she found a magic object that got her cast out or exiled for some misdeed)
she runs off into the woods in her grief and stumbles upon an exile how very begrudgingly takes her as his apprentice to become a druid
he ends up being a really shitty guy and makes her feel overwhelmingly guilty even tho realistically her parents deaths weren't her fault ( i told you it was dramatic and i roll The Pariah )
she ends up staying in the woods and is raised by some animals (presumably owls or something i haven't decided because she has the feral child bg) and other the years she eventually finds her way home and reunites with her family but cant bear to stay and now her goal is to somehow redeem herself to her family and tribe even if there isnt anything to forgive

In the past ten years, it’s become exceedingly obvious to me that Harry Styles always comes first for Harry Styles.
When Harry talks about love, it’s always about about other people loving him, not about him returning love without expectations. Charity is about Harry Styles being praised for charity— dozens of articles written for “Harry’s donations,” from funds involuntarily paid for by his concert fans. Self-affirmation is about “never going back, never coming back down,” leaving people stranded below because “You can't bribe the door on your way to the sky/ You look pretty good down here/ But you ain't really good,” crying about “the bullets,” but doing little or nothing to help others (the SOTT music video makes clear Harry isn’t the one left “down here.” Telling people left below that they deserve to be “down there” because “they ain’t really good”… you work it out). Loneliness, sadness, kindness, etc. are all about how he, Harry Styles, might experience them in his pseudo profound way, as if reading a few misogynistic writers give him a special window into women’s souls.
“Treat People with Kindness” is about Harry Styles showcasing some PERFORMATIVE acts of kindness. The motto isn’t meant to be universal or charitable… it’s lip service to cover his ass, because his actions are transparently egocentric, narcissistic.
TBSL lyrics are replete with, “Don’t blame me”: the song starts with chants why he shouldn’t be blamed. Of course Harry Styles is the lovable bastard who should be forgiven for… anything shitty he did, right? “I just hope you see me in a little better light/ Do you think it's easy being of the jealous kind?” This is repugnant. Whether the song is about Louis or whomever, it’s actually about Harry, being a dick and wanting praise for it.
What is it with male pop stars? Why are they like this? Why are so many pop songs by men about doing something shitty and feeling bad about it, or about not being able to change and feeling bad about it, or expecting women to forgive everything they do because they feel bad about it? Why do these men think being a jerk is an incurable disease that makes them the victims instead of the women they wrong? Are we supposed to find this sexy? Are we supposed to feel for them? Songs like the ones on Harry Styles’ second album Fine Line just make us feel contempt when we’re supposed to feel empathy.
Where is the self awareness? Where is the epiphany? Where is the compassion? “I’m a dick. Do you think it’s easy being a dick? But I’m so cute.”
Women (and some men) fall in love with and fuck guys like these because patriarchy teaches them that masochism and deprivation are sexy. But it’s actually toxic and gross as hell, and if they’re smart and lucky, they’ll leave.

Do you think Oskar Fevras the artist whom you can buy in any way mirrors Gale? His story reminded me a bit of Gale’s in the whole hung up on your first love thing
Hello there!
Let me explain you how I understand Oskar Fevras. I think that may be an important key to see what I'm going to be concluding.
Oskar has the pretence of being a noble, and likes too much wealth and fame. His patron is his betrothed: Lady Jannath. The Jannath are a family of wealthy mine-owners in BG, who, according to the Main Char's "gossip" knowledge, have been passing through a scandal when they realised that Oskar was a commoner. Apparently Oskar is known as the runaway groom for this.
I'm not so sure to believe that the problem in all his drama is his commoner past. But he doesn't clarify it in a very explicit way. We only have this information from the narrator and it's like a "rumour", something you picked in the air in the city's gossip, so it can be slightly different.
He clarifies that the date of the marriage was never set... but clearly the intention was there. What happened? "Complications", he adds.
Oskar tells you that before his fame as a painter and his affair with Lady Jannath, there was another woman he wanted to spend his life with [which make me assume he was with her until the last moment of the proposal] but when he was offered marriage with Lady Jannath, who gave him a better future because her wealth, he thought "important to tell her about his past".
These lines are a bit inconsistent in their logic, no? You love a woman you want to marry, but then another one very wealthy, asks you marriage and you consider to tell her "you are a commoner" [if we assume the rumour is true].... There is no much connection with the concepts... unless Oskar is saying other thing in his vague way of explaining this story.
In my opinion, he is saying:
I was with this woman I wanted to spend my life with. But on the other hand, I wanted to be famous and wealthy, so I started a serious afair with a person who would support my art: Lady Jannath [it's implied he became her lover without never telling her he was with the first woman]. All was done in order to have fame and wealth. Then Lady Jannath proposes him marriage, and he considers it's reasonable to tell her about "his past" [his past as in, there is another woman, there was always another woman]. This scandal triggered, and because we are talking about a noble family in BG, we know they can control rumours, so they preferred to make it about his "commoner" past instead of his double-cheating.
When he explained his past to Lady Jannath, he was "forced" to escape and think about who to "choose". He doesn't know yet. "Fame and wealth suit me very well." But when he thinks in his first love... he hesitates. He says all this with a very light tone, yet, he makes of this a big dilemma, almost a performance of drama: to choose between true love or wealth to develop his skills.
I may have taken all this a bit more serious if it weren't for the last line he says. If something I've learnt by reading a lot of books of narrative and how to write narratives, is that professionals don't put useless lines in the character's mouths to be wasted. They have meaning.
When the rescue is finally done, he asks for money to fight the "discomfort of the road", and, unless this has been changed in this last patch [I don't play BG3 since patch 2 or 3] he says something that makes you understand that he is going to spend this money in alcohol [he says something along the lines "well, I should endure the road sober then"]. So this last bit showed us that he is not really a very trustworthy person, he hides the truth just to take some extra benefit of the situation [we don't see a real struggle in all this, more like a performance of a struggle].
It's true the situation is a bit vague and this interpretation may be wrong, but Oskar is not exactly an honest char. He has his love for over-dramatisation and present himself as the victim in situations that are not thaaaaat bad.
Now, how all this is similar to Gale? I'm afraid I don't see much similarity, sorry. You can stretch things a lot to make Lady Jannath to look like Mystra [Mystra is the one who gave Gale the deepest connection with the Weave, which is something that brings him joy and sense in life to Gale. She is a kind of "patron" for Gale? It's too stretched, Mystra is a goddess of particular behaviour in her lore] ... but you also can connect her with the first woman by using the weak link of "being Gale's first love". Where the Main Character fits in all this analogy? How all this situation has a relationship with Gale, his abandonment issues caused by a powerful, immense entity as Mystra, and how he made dire mistakes to get her attention again, like all devotees do in this crazy Faerûn? I don't see it, sorry. Gale's first love was Mystra, the most powerful goddess of the pantheon of Faerûn. Oscar's first love was a mortal woman. I'm afraid I can't see much to relate there beyond the fact that "people have first loves" that imprint a strong effect in a person's life [which is true for almost all humans in real life].
I'm not sure if maybe this question is motivated by all those terrible takes that Gale receives in this fandom. I think a lot of people have serious problems with the fact that Gale has an ex. For this, people are a mixture of being offended by that and also treat the party scene as if it were a "big" revelation, which is not?. Sure, he has an ex that inspires him complicated emotions but it's clear he wants to get rid of that event and move on.
Gale never plays two sides. He is always very clear about the fact of having secrets, about his boundaries [another thing that the fandom doesn’t forgive him], and how complicated is for him to speak about Mystra. If you get nice rolls, you can even tell Gale that he is dreaming with Mystra [like, the game makes you AWARE of it XD]... And he also tells you that the tadpole dreams are about power and desire... I mean, if the guy says that, and then dreams with Mystra....why some people are offended/surprised after the party!??? haha. The biggest mystery in this fandom.
Sure, the scene is not handled in the best ways, there are some weird lines, everything looks so high-school cheap drama. I get that... I don't know, we have to blame it for being Early Access and for Gale not being Larian's fave. But well... Gale has an ex. It's a fact, and one can know that very early if the fucking game couldn't be soooooo shitty bugged with his char.
Here is one of my videos [very old patch as you can see] where we can see the second dream: He says "These dreams are about desire", I pick the option of Mystra. "Yes, I dream with Mystra". You know by your own dreams that these dreams are very sexual in general... So, conclusion? Gale has an ex.
Oskar is playing with two women at the same time in the worst case scenario. In the best one, he abandoned his first love to follow wealth. Her first love [that, let's be honest, how much he loved her that he had no problem to cheat on/abandon when it comes to fame and wealth?] was put aside in favour of this noble. Then he leaves the noble one because he is unable to choose. He was the one who abandoned [or cheated, we can't say completely because it's vague] two women, not the other way around...
Plus, to make things even more different, there is this small detail that the fandom always seems to be blind about because most of them only know Dragon Age lore: Mystra is the most powerful goddess in the damn pantheon xD Gale was a plaything in her grasp [this is the worst case scenario; I have a secondary interpretation, more kind to her, focused on Mystra's point of view]. But there is something very strong here that make these comparison too out of any frame to compare: She is not a normal woman... her power is not even compared with Jannath's. She is a Goddess.
So, in short: I'm afraid I don't see much in common. XD I mean, everyone has exes, every person with some age has a past even in Faerûn. Sure, this is Faerûn, so exes can go wild, I get it. XD And having exes is not always a "finished business" [specially when that comes with abandonment issues], but more like a WIP: something to deal with unresolved emotions from past partners that you want to move on, and sometimes a new partner may help you [or make everything worse]. I always read Gale that way.

Some bg info if you aren’t familiar w Who he Was or the Events Of His Death
Okay, if you aren’t familiar w Elliott Smith, he was a singer-songwriter active in the 90′s known mostly for making Very Sad music. He got kind of famous due to his work on the soundtrack for Good Will Hunting. Throughout his life, he struggled with depression, alcoholism, and drug abuse.
In 2003, Smith’s body was found by his then girlfriend Jennifer Chiba. She found him still alive but in critical condition with a knife in his chest. He later died in the hospital. His death is considered mysterious and people are still debating if he was murdered or died by suicide. Smith’s girlfriend claims that she had locked herself in the bathroom to shower after having a fight with him and found him after hearing him scream from the kitchen. At the time of his death, those around him reported that he’d been living sober for at least a month and there were no illicit drugs found in his system. His body also showed no hesitation wounds and a note was found at the scene saying “I’m so sorry - Love, Elliot. God forgive me.” It’s important to note that Elliott is spelled wrong. While his death was thought to be a suicide, the inconclusive autopsy reports did not rule out the possibility of homicide, therefore making the case inconclusive.

This is just my assumption but i can honestly see BG jin being the type of husband that thinks having a child with OC will “bring them together” and help them “move on” past her attack and his infidelity . He rly be shitty like that 🤪
Oh he’s definitely that kind of man; using other people, material goods, or whatever he can produce to make BG OC “forgive” him. He doesn’t care about the healing process, he just wants instant forgiveness without regards to her feelings. People need time to recover and regain trust and he doesn’t understand that.
Always acting like he’s the victim for having to repent. I wouldn’t look back at him twice if I was BG OC, but she’s a big softie stuck between a rock and a hard place.

Since the fic has been tugging at the back of my head since 3 days ago, and apparently blasting music into my ears only made it worse… I present to you, my first ever attempt on making a playlist! I was going to draw something, but midterm is ruining my schedules. Sorry beforehand if my taste on music is ‘pleb’ or not suitable for your liking. Popular music is popular for a cause, ya know.
And I feel like I should explain why I choose these songs in particular, so here goes…

1. Zayn Malik - Pillowtalk
Well, the song has been all about the rawness, bliss and sin of an intercourse anyways, so it suits the overall tone of both the fic and omegaverse in general… And I’d like to think that for Will, it’s paradise, while for Mike and Jeremy, it’s a warzone~
2. Maroon 5 - Animal
Almost the same with Pillowtalk, but focused more on the ‘animalish’ side of things.
3. EXO - Monster
To be honest, this actually fits more to the canon William of Upon AU, but the subtle tone of possesiveness (is this even a word) and obsession makes it so perfect for the fic…. atleast, in my opinion.
4. VIXX - Into The Void
I feel like this song is about succumbing to a twisted sort of love, and like Monster, feels more fitting to the canon Upon AU. But the helplessness and pessimistic tone in this song seems to fit Jeremy so darn well, forgive me ;_;
5. Super Junior - Mamacita
Although this song is way too cheerful for something like this, the lyric seems to convey a sense of wanting to protect oneself from injustice and wanting to fight for it… Although I’m not 100% sure, I think it suits Jeremy’s mindset.
6. Sucker for Pain (not gonna write the names of the artist cos damn, that’s a lot.)
I feel like the song is all about embracing pain and sins, in a way that is almost blissful. And….Idk what to say anymore, except that it fits the overall tone so well. :“)
7. Saybia - The Second You Sleep
The theme of bitterness and guilt is all over this song and I think it suits Mike really well…in being forced (instinctually) to do something he’s not completely okay doing. Also, bittersweet guilt is my favorite concept of Mike~
8. Maroon 5 - One More Night
(I know it’s a bit stupid to put Maroon 5 twice, but I can’t help it, they make songs with such dark themes and I like it ;_;)
The part that got this song into the playlist is “Try to tell you no, but my body keeps on telling you yes.” This song is completely about doing something the opposite of your liking, and darn, this just screams like Jeremy.
