A thread of actors/musicians that support Israel.

Jen Cohn

She is well known for voicing many characters such as Pharah from Overwatch, Ursa (Zuko’s mom) from Avatar: The Last Airbender, Miss Champlain from Wordgirl, and many other roles. On a TikTok and YouTube livestream when many watchers commented “free palestine”, her response to them was “Yes, free Palestine from Hamas.”

There are also more quotes from Cohn such as her response to a comment about wanting a new Pharah voice actor along with the Palestine flag emoji, “That is not a very ‘values of Overwatch’ thing to say” which caused anger from many fans. Cohn has also stated that “Hamas is a terrorist organization, there are so many articles and videos of Gazans risking their lives by speaking out and begging to be free of their terrorist government.”

(Hamas is a Palestinian Islamist nationalist group that controlled the Gazan strip for 20 years and is labeled as a terrorist group by many countries. It took over the Gazan strip after an election between a political party called Fatah in 2006. On October 7th of 2023, the IDF’s attack on Gaza was followed from a series of many other attacks in Israel from Hamas but there were other conflicts between Israel and other groups before 10/07.)

Deedee Magno Hall

Hall is well known for voicing Pearl, a character from the Cartoon Network series Steven Universe along with other live action roles for other studios. Although she never stated anything about Israel or Hamas, one of the posts she liked on Twitter was from Mark Hamill, “America stands with Israel ✊ #ALWAYS” which spread on the platform, receiving backlash from SU fans.

Eric Nam

Eric is a K-pop/R&B singer and songwriter based in South Korea who wrote songs under B2M Entertainment. He had many tours over the years as a musician and even acted in television. In a tweet by @DiscussingFilm on April 11, it was announced that he had been cast as adult Aang for the Avatar: The Last Airbender movie set to release around 2025-2026.

This post received backlash from ATLA fans due to posts regarding his involvement with Zionists and support for Israel such as liking a pro-Israel instagram post,

The companies Dive Studios and Mindset (both co-founded by Eric and also his brothers) having investor companies supporting Israel along with Mindset’s strategic investor Scooter Braun also supporting Israel as well as a history of working with celebrities that are pro-Israel, and the fact that he removed Malaysia and The Philippines off of his “House On A Hill” tour list due to backlash by many Malaysian fans for the aforementioned instagram post (Malaysia is against people supporting Israel and is very pro-Palestine.), ignoring the backlash but posted a statement regarding his neutral opinion on the Gaza genocide where the reason was that he “made the difficult decision to cancel the show” in Malaysia.

Noah Schnapp

Schnapp is another well known actor who played characters such as Charlie Brown from the Peanuts Movie by the now-defunct Blue Sky Studios, and Will Byers from Netflix’s Stranger Things.

In a TikTok video, Noah Schnapp is seen sitting and filming with people holding “Zionism is Sexy” stickers, the line “You either stand with Israel or you stand with terrorism.”, along with liking a post that mocked Palestinians in the Gaza Strip as well as his visit to Israel. This had many fans call for a boycott against the 5th Season of Stranger Things or for Noah to be fired from playing Will Byers.

Jeremy Shada

Jeremy is also another well known actor and had many roles like the Cookie Run franchise as Gingerbrave, Adventure Time as Finn the Human, Voltron: Legendary Defender as Lance, Julie and the Phantoms as Reggie Peters, and some others. Many fans were not happy to see that he has been pro-Israel due to an instagram post liked by Shada and so some Finn and Gingerbrave fan art with the Palestine flag were made.

Tara Strong

Tara is the one of the most well known voice actor in the animation industry and had been widely loved for playing many famous characters such as Bubbles from the Powerpuff Girls, Raven from Teen Titans (and the reboot), Twilight Sparkle from My Little Pony: Friendship Is Magic, Timmy Turner from The Fairly Oddparents, Ilana from Sym-Bionic Titan, and so many other characters she’d played in.

Recently, she was fired from playing the character Bill the Orphan in an adult-animated series called Boxtown due to her negative responses to the Palestinian genocide. She said in a tweet, “Just found out on twitter! This is what happens when you help fans get shows made I guess. Fired for being Jewish. Glad I helped you get your kickstarter money. Please lose my email address & pray for my family in Israel and in Gaza. & #prayforpeace.” Bandit Mill Animation however, has stated this was due to Tara’s controversial tweets.

Speaking of, there are many tweets by Strong that prove this point such as liking posts that are against Islamic people, being pissed off that the BLM movement didn’t stand for a genocide, claiming the IDF doesn’t rape/harm any civilians, making a post with the hashtag #IStandWithIsrael, hiding a reply of the death count between Palestinians and Israeli people, and even more situations outside the Palestinian movement like being an anti-vaxxer, supporting PETA, supporting and directing an “eco-friendly” NFT movie project called Ornamental, supporting Autism Speaks (an organization that claims to “cure” autism.), being in a video where Tara was verbally abusing an Uber driver that was an immigrant along with Rena Sofer by saying “We are Americans, we were born here.”, did nothing when Greg Cipes called asexuality a phase to an asexual in a FMA game he hosted, being racist in response to a news clip of MEMRI (Which is a non-profit organization founded by Yigal Carmon, an Israeli military intelligence officer. MEMRI has been claimed to mistranslate clips so Palestinians would viewed in a bad light.), had a little girl who had a brain tumor pass away due to bronies donating to a charity where the money was instead of real medicine, it was put into “alternative treatments”, AND retweeted Ben 10 incest back in 2012-13.

Tara Strong has really destroyed her own reputation as a voice actor and it’s really upsetting that a famous woman who voiced pretty much everyone’s childhood have such negative ways when dealing with topics like these. The fact that there are STILL fans defending her actions is just depressing to see what she had become.

Jerry Seinfeld, who voiced Barry B. Benson from the Bee Movie and had his own semi-fictional show named after his last name visited Israel into the IDF military base nicknamed “Camp Shoot-A-Palestinian” (I’M NOT FUCKING JOKING) and played target practice with pictures of REAL Palestinians, made a few pro-Israel posts on his instagram, and more.

Selena Gomez, played Alex Russo from Wizards of Waverly Place, Mavis from the Hotel Transylvania franchise, and many other roles has many posts regarding support to Israel such as liking Amy Schumer’s pro-Israel posts on Instagram, was VERY pissed off when fans asked her for Palestinian support, and lying about the beauty company Rare Beauty supporting Gaza even though the CEO is a Zionist which resulted in the donation money going a Zionist organization called Magen David Adom.

Scarlett Johansson had worked with companies that support Israel over the years along with a couple of posts that are pro-Israel.

Kim Dongyoung, who is a member of a few South-Korean bands as Doyoung like NCT and it’s other sub-units has lost over 800,000 instagram followers because of a McDonalds Korea promotion he was in even though he had donated to World Food Program Korea (a company that started to donate food to Gaza back in December of 2023.).

Taika Watiti, who played Blackbeard from Our Flag Means Death has liked Instagram posts of Gal Godot’s suppport for Israel, went on a big rant about his response to people addressing his silence on Palestinians because of people not knowing about Māori issues on the Marc Macron podcast (Many, Many Māori people are pro-Palestinian.)

Sarah J Maas, author of The Assassin’s Blade, Crescent City, and A Court of Thorns and Roses, is a Zionist that has spoken about her “love for Israel”, said that she was proud of her family members that had been involved with the IDF and its military bases and went on a trip to Israel.

Con O’Neill, who plays Izzy Hands from the show Our Flag Means Death has a liked post by Eve Barlow with the lines of “coming out as a Zionist is harder than coming out as gay”.

Keanu Reeves is another well known actor that appeared in The Matrix franchise as Neo, The Day the Earth Stood Still as Klaatu, Cyberpunk 2077 as Johnny Silverhand, and many other movies. He said that he wanted to make a John Wick movie that take place in Israel with IDF soldiers that trained for stunts, went to a party that was hosted by a former arms dealer during the 2014 Gaza war, and visited Israel several times along with meeting Netanyahu.

Rick Riordan, the author of the Percy Jackson books made a very lengthy blog post stating the Israel-Palestine conflict with lines such as “the Israeli government’s brutal retaliation against the entire population of Gaza has reached genocidal proportions.” & “This means security and support for Israel, yes.”

Eddie nearly burnt his hand off with holy water (we have now learned Eddie is part demon apparently. Summonings are weird)

Jay and Vox (evil echo) fought, kinda. Jay won. Vox is defeated for now but not destroyed. Still pretty sure she's planning to kill God.

During the aforementioned fight, Jay burnt their hand in a Flame of Guilt. This was healed by being forgiven by various family members and then Uriel removing the pain

Also Eric helped Eddie burn away his guilt in Hellfire. There was a lot of screaming (because of the guilt not the Hellfire)

They sighed, not loud but noticeable

Milo turned his head and rose and eyebrow, but when they didn’t look back at him he thought nothing of it.

They sighed again, a little louder this time.

“Something wrong sweetheart?” He asked peering over to them.

“Hmm? No,no.” They said turning back to their phone

But again they sighed

“Alright what the fuck is goin on?” He finally said

“I was just thinking,” they started, looking at their ring finger

“Ahh geez.” He said

“We’ve been dating for a while now, correct?” They said being all dramatic

“Yeah..?” He said putting his book down.

“Why haven’t you asked me to marry you yet.” They asked, sorta laughing but also dead serious

“Ah, sweetheart I dunno, I don’t really think we need it. Like the only thing that would change is a piece of paper.” He admitted

He blushed, at the way that word fell from their lips, with such ease and grace, it was beautiful, and he almost dropped to his knees and asked them Right there, but he didn’t, he kept a straight face.

May I ask for any headcanons you have about our beloved vdw sibs? Eric & Serena while they were growing up and beyond?

Well I hope it was a spiritually filling experience for you <3 Anyway yes!!! Them!!!

- Eric and Serena are just absolute icons at playing together growing up. These kids can Pass Some Time

- They have these really elaborate games that not even Blair and Nate can understand the rules to and just leave everyone else kind of like ‘????’ but it also presents in stuff like Jenny finding out that Eric is a fucking champion at slide when they’re like 17 and he’s just like. Well yeah

- Serena and Eric learn to drive together! On his sixteenth birthday she’s just like ‘here is your real present and here is your prep for getting your learner’s permit. Mom can’t stop us both <3’ (which is something we kind of see in the early parts of s1, that Eric’s wants can get lost in the fights between Serena and his mom, but in this case he’s okay with it)

- I think Eric is always very aware that Serena is his protector, both in the very literal sense of her as his defender and in the way that she just naturally makes life easier for him and his more quiet and introverted self—she knows how to draw him in and make sure he’s included

- I also think it takes him a lot of time to realize that he anchors her, and his quiet, scheme-y self is good for her, and that he takes care of her and helps her manage herself too (and, also, exactly how much she needs that help). Like, she doesn’t just love him but that he has a value in their relationship. He also thinks about this way more actively than she does

- Serena is just like ‘Eric my baby brother who must be done right by in every way because he is pure and good’ and has that written into her fucking bones in the way that older siblings do (and also is aware that Eric is better at figuring out what’s going on in her head than she is sometimes)

- On the flip side of that is that Eric is… he’s always very self-contained, in how he manages himself, and everyone knows that if you really want him to talk about his feelings or what’s going on with him, you send Serena. (Unless, of course, your name is Humphrey and you didn’t grow up with him and therefore have less expectations.)

- And on yet a third side, I’ve always really thought that Eric is the one who Serena tried to hide her problems from. Not her feelings—you know Eric got to hear and mediate every single fight with Blair—but the part of her that was an on fire tragedy masquerading as a party girl, because she was his big sister and some part of her knew something was Wrong in a way that he should be kept safe from, even if she didn’t know how to keep it away from herself

- Anyway, Lily is one of the champion storytellers of gg—I mean, she’s up there with Blair, and always was, even as a baby, hello ‘you’re falling in love with me, aren’t you?’ in Valley Girls—and I think growing up, one of the signs that things are Good in the vdw household is that Lily takes the time to read Eric and Serena a bedtime story

- Ofc by the time Eric is like six she’s scared about reading stories that are too far below Serena’s reading level vs ones that are good for him and I am just. A little obsessed with Serena van der Woodsen, founder and president of the Shakespeare Club, and I think she gets it from her mom <3

- Serena is also the one who reads stories when things are Bad, and either way that becomes a formative experience for Eric, and it’s something he definitely does/would do as a parent

- I’ve talked before about the idea of them both ending up in California as adults, and it’s a huge state but it’s small enough that they call it close enough to visit constantly, which is something that I like a lot

- But I think that it doesn’t really matter where they end up? They make sure to make time for each other (or, really, Eric makes sure to make time and Serena is intuitive enough to know that Saturday morning means it is time to talk with Eric on the phone, and thus the structure becomes settled)

- They communicate a lot via texts of ‘oh I saw this and thought you would be into it’ too—news articles, some fashion video that showed up because the youtube algorithm is weird, literally anything that has to do with the opera because Serena just. Has no idea what the fuck is going on over there but she knows he likes it

- Also I don’t believe in either of them living in the UES as adults but lbr Serena’s wedding is the only reason Eric sets foot back there in canon in a fucking decade and that is some king shit

- bodies: i feel like this song can be connected to how i see my attachment to him and how he saw the people that failed (??) him in his life. “come into my life forever,” hits so hard for me cus i know that if i haven’t outgrown him by now, i prob never will. especially when so many others who’ve surpassed my age are stuck on him and the case in gen. i also feel like i’ll never be able to ‘escape’ him cus of his mark on the world and how he’ll continue to inspire so many others in that way.

to piggy back off your last anon, I'm reading Prince Of Song & Sea (disney's The Little Mermaid from Prince Eric's pov) and it's really good!

except for the themlet pirate who's unfortunately a main character, and who is so out of place it's staggering. esp since we're introduced to all the pirate characters when they raid Eric's ship, so we've got a big fight of the pirate crew vs Eric's crew, then "the blood tide" happens and they're all attacked by a ghost ship, so it becomes the pirate crew and Eric's crew vs ghost sirens

which means every single sentence there's a "they" doing *something* and it's nearly impossible to keep track of if it's the pirate captain "they" doing something or if the sentence moved on to the other pirates doing something, or Eric's crew doing something, or the *ghosts* doing something. if she was going for "this is an overwhelming and confusing mess of a situation" she sure hit her mark bc I'm just as confused as Eric lmao

the entire rest of the scenes are just wild though. being in the head of a "pronoun respecter" with a themlet pirate is just so jarring and out of place, even when the character "themselves" is otherwise entirely normal. though I do find it funny that the author refuses to give us ANY description of the character outside of "is wearing typical priate captain clothes", is tanned, and has white hair. she's very specifically made sure to not give us any real physical anything so we can't guess male or female based on like, height relative to Eric's or anyone else's, or vocal range.

we do get plenty of SSA characters though, like Eric's best friend openly liking girls and some background "mermaid with a wife who was a victim of Ursula" and "painting of a woman who killed herself after her wife vanished that's in Ursula's possession" so I guess it's a monkey's paw😔✊

SO many stories do this now, especially in like YA or fantasy. A they/them character is just thrown in there for representation, and it's ANNOYING. They feel so out-of-place and stupid, the characters always immediately know to refer to them as they/them for some reason, and there's usually some obnoxious preaching about gender. Always in addition to actually LGB characters, so it feels like you just have to put up with it if you ever want a gay person. If they're really minor (like one character in Gideon the Ninth) I can look past it, but if they show up at all often I really struggle to get past it. Like you said, it's so difficult to figure out what is happening when the pronouns are so jumbled (thank god the alternating pronouns thing hasn't caught on in mainstream publishing as far as I can tell, but in fanfic? I've accidentally clicked on a few and that shit is WHACK).

currently working on: a few things! mostly some oc writing (like the dmitri fic) and i'm kinda building an apocalypse au with some ocs along with some new characters :^) also an original fantasy setting but that's much more slow going atm

A vida e as ideias de George Orwell ✊

Um dos autores mais lidos do século 20, teve uma vida bem agitada e controversa. Seu nome de batismo é Eric Arthur Blair. Ele nasceu em 1903 e estudou em Eton, uma clássica e renomada escola britânica. Desde jovem teve o ímpeto de expor sua visão de mundo através da literatura. No colégio, por exemplo, escreveu seus primeiros textos para os periódicos da escola. Orwell se alistou para lutar em 1922, na Índia, mas poucos anos depois decidiu por deixar a carreira militar e foi viver em Londres, onde morou em pensões baratas e decadentes por livre e espontânea vontade. Em 1928 foi para Paris, onde viveu como lavador de pratos em um hotel e escreveu seus primeiros livros relatando de forma muito crua a dura realidade que o cercava. Em 1937, se alistou novamente para lutar nas guerras espanholas contra os fascistas. Era filiado ao Partido Operário de Unificação Marxista, de postura antistalinista. Foi ferido gravemente na nuca e só conseguiu sair da Espanha com a ajuda de sua esposa. Em 1938, o escritor precisou ser internado em um sanatório após o diagnóstico de tuberculose. Seus livros, até o momento, vendiam pouco, algo em torno de três mil cópias. Quando começou a Segunda Guerra Mundial, Orwell foi rejeitado pelo exército devido à tuberculose. Então, de 1941 à 1943, trabalhou na BBC. Em 1943, tornou-se editor do jornal de esquerda The Tribune. As obras de George Orwell permitem identificar o escritor como antinazista, antifascista e antitotalitarista. O autor se declarava abertamente como socialista democrático, portanto, tornou-se um dos maiores críticos do socialismo russo totalitarista. Assim, George Orwell era a favor da democracia, defensor do pensamento livre e um crítico ferrenho do capitalismo. Anos mais tarde, o livro A Revolução dos Bichos foi instrumentalmente divulgado como uma crítica aberta ao comunismo pela indústria americana, levando muitas pessoas até hoje a interpretarem erroneamente as reais intenções do autor.
