Butch's Reaction to Crushing on a M!Lone

It pisses him off when he first starts to notice how he feels for you. I imagine he represses his romantic feelings for men like crazy and realizing that he’s slowly developing a crush on you, of all people, makes him want to punch a hole in the wall.

He’ll be even crueler to you now; spitting on you, jumping you in the Vault hallways, and threatening to carve his initials into your skin with his pocket knife. He hopes that it’ll force his desires away. Maybe if you hate him enough he’ll finally just let it go, but, to his dismay, it never happens.

It becomes obvious very quickly that something deeper within him is causing him to be like this. The other Tunnel Snakes will also start noticing how much he seems to like picking on you compared to anyone else in the Vault.

The day you leave is the day he shatters. Of course, you’re the one who has to leave. He’ll pretend to be happy about finally being rid of you, but deep down he’s worried you won’t make it. You’re smaller than him, weaker than him, and never had been one to fight back... how would you ever survive on the surface?

He can’t help the way his eyes light up when he spots you entering the Muddy Rudder. He doesn’t even bother hiding the smile that slowly tugs at his lips as he waves you over to the bar, praying you won't cringe at the sight of him and leave.

He’ll act as if you guys had been friends for years. He’ll toss his arm loosely around your shoulders and order you a drink, asking about your time in the wasteland. However, his friendly demeanor will shift once he sees how awkward you act around him.

He doesn’t bring up how he used to treat you - he doesn’t know if he can - but he’ll, at the very least, try to make an effort toward earning your trust.

He follows you whether you want him to or not. He may still be a tad naive about what exists in the wasteland, but he’s not naive enough to recognize the dangers. The last thing he wants is for you to die, especially if it happens before he can confess to you.

He’s gentler toward you now. Those few months after you’d set off to find your dad had killed him, and he wants to make an active effort to show how much he’s missed you and how much he wants to be around you.

He’ll slowly start to do things that boyfriends traditionally do. He’ll offer to carry some of your heavier items, open doors for you, and even pay for meals when you both find a settlement to eat out at.

He also becomes extremely protective over you. You can see the hatred and jealousy boiling in his eyes whenever he spots someone touching you or standing too close. It eats at him even more knowing he can’t say anything because you two aren’t officially together.

Some of his old habits still linger. Occasionally, he’ll grab your face to make you look at him or, stick his foot out and trip you while you walk. It’s just in his nature.

Although, he does try to make it up by offering to clean up your hair for you. Free of charge. Either because he’s noticed it’s been growing out or it’s gotten dirty during the days you’ve spent traveling. Besides, he likes being able to take care of you like this.

It kills him that he can’t seem to find it within himself to just tell you about how he’s feeling, or even just apologize for how he treated you while you both were in the Vault.

It’ll become more and more obvious that he’s interested in you, but he refuses to be the one to say it. You’ll have to make the first move in the relationship because his pride won’t let him be in love with another man. Especially, if there’s a chance he may be rejected.

During his time at the Pitt, the Brotherhood gave his family nicknames after different bears, because of their last name. He got the nickname Kodiak. His brothers were nicknamed Grizzly and Gobi.

Once he joined, it stuck around.

He prefers to be called Kodiak as it separates his identity from the Pitt and his present one.

During his time at Pitt he developed a really intense and aggressive persona, he mostly keeps it under wraps but it does appear time to time, especially in combat or when talking about the Enclave (see: 'There's meat under that armour, meat can be ground' line).

Mad respect for Elder Lyons and Sarah Lyons. Idolises the Elder.

Will always stop to help out wastelanders as a way to pay Elder Lyon's kindness forward.

He doesn't know what happened to his brothers after he joined the BOS. He was really disappointed that they weren't initiated.

Deep down he probably misses them quite a lot.

While in the wastes, he was stationed to help out a little settlement, which held a terminal with pretty important information. He managed to protect a small girl in particular against a super mutant. She later on named her Teddy Bear, Kodiak, after him. She took a photo of him and the bear.

Grief stricken after Sarah Lyon's death and the disbandment of the pride. Has grown increasingly frustrated with Arthur Maxson's leadership, especially regarding his lack of care or willingness to help the people of the Commonwealth.

Some Charon Head Cannons I Finally have the Balls to Share:

He was a US Green Beret captured in Anchorage by Chinese and Russian Special Forces in 2076, 11 months before the Great War and had many experiments done on him while a POW.

He was deployed at 28, one of the youngest in his squad. Charon was born in Pennsylvania and came from a military background, later joining the US Army at 19, soon after the USA announced war against the Republic of China.

In the end, he would be the only survivor from his squad, all others having been executed or dying from the Dachau-Level experiments.

As tensions around the world heightened, the US government burned all records of him and his squadron, considering them casualties of war.

As a POW (Prisoner of War) his physical stature, mental fortitude, and expert combat training made him a candidate for a “Reprograming Operation” by the Russian KGB where he was the only successful test subject.

After months of brainwashing he was finally assigned to a KGB Spy who was planted in the US government, where he was designed to assassinate and perform other reconnaissance operations.

However, the Great War broke out mere months after he was “assigned” and his contract made many unfortunate passes before reaching the Lone Wanderers.

Charon’s previous employers all had dark, ulterior motives that mainly used him as a deviant errand boy. When he becomes employed by the LW, he almost feels at peace. Though he will forever live with PTSD, he is able to put his guard down in certain circumstances, giving him small glimpses of joy and happiness again.

Until he becomes to care too much, and becomes over protective. The LW unknowingly reminds him of his pre-war life. When there was still hope and a dream of change. He doesn’t know why, but he clings to their selflessness. He watches people abuse the LW’s kindness, and then get stuck in a cycle of people pleasing because they are the Wastelands Last Hope.

I was thinking about height and names in the wasteland.

Height: I think humanity would slowly evolve to become shorter just like how through the centuries we evolved to become taller.

In the Wasteland, I think, being shorter can help with survival. Or not. But to think about it we started to become taller because our lifestyle became much better than it was before and it, for some reason, led us to become taller means, to me at least, in the Wasteland while struggling with survival the reverse would happen.

Might really do something with survival, like better hiding or something with muscles, someone might know better than me anyway.

Names: Names are pretty important to us. We not only give names to humans, we name... well, just about everything. I think this might be different in the Wasteland. Names might lost their meaning. Some might not even have names. They might abandoned it or was never given any.

And so when you come across generic raider #5 then it might be his entire persona. He might think he is a raider, takes his entire identity as this, and that is all.

Or perhaps they just feel like they don't want to share their names while shooting at... well, anyone.

Also, as a bonus. Many people must have some mutations but not the super mutant kind of. Instead some little ones, what might not even be noticed. I heard somewhere the blue eye and when someone looks into the sun and sneezes is some kind of mutation, I was immediately thinking about it. Even if these 'facts' are not true, for idea they are cool.

Let's say we have Jimmy. Jimmy has, I don't know, thicc skull. The kind you can hit with a damn hammer and the hammer would break. He finds it completely normal because he was always like this, and he just jokes about it with others.

Not every mutation must be a bad kind of mutation because that just makes no sense. To me, at least.

The entire Earth was ravaged through nuclear fire, it becomes irradiated, many things, if not all, mutated. That amount of radiation caused that. Humans are not the same as they were before the war, they must have changed. In many ways. Those living the longest in the Wasteland, like being the descendants of others who also lived there, means they might have more than those who just recently moved out into the Wasteland.

hey! It’s my birthday! Jew, how do you thingk peole in the wasteland celebrate birthdays and shit? Like cannonicly they celebrate Christmas and Halloween but what else?

How people celebrate birthdays in the fallout universe!

I did this by faction, hope that’s ok :)

Do raiders/watelanders know their birthdays? Their parents would have to survive through childbirth and to the point where a child can grasp the concept. Even then, would they celebrate? For many, being born in the post-nuclear apocalypse feels like a curse but do they still value their souls to the point they accept their existence? What about ghouls? Do they still keep living out of fear of the unknown, yet resent growing older with each passing day? Would they still care?

Personally, I love the concept of raiders being akin to a kindergarten class when it comes to birthdays. Someone brings in a huge box of Fancy Lad Snack Cakes and they go to town. Most likely not presents, but a bit more respect and kindness. After all, isn’t that the best gift in the wasteland? To know someone cares?

The brotherhood would probably award the participating party with half a day off to do whatever. Many probably have family members who are outside of the brotherhood’s ranks, or in Fo4, back in the capital wastes. Giving time off (as a reward) can allow for communication between loved ones, boosting morale and giving something to work for. I can just see a knight stepping out of their power armor and heading downtown to see magnolia sing.

No one in the institute would celebrate birthdays in a sentimental manner. Many will be recognized for a good job they did since they were first created/employed, but aside from that, birthdays will be scarce.

In the railroad, parties are kinda a big thing, mostly due to decon. Dez thinks it’s all a waste of time, but also secretly enjoys some levity. Lots of pranks and shananagins and cake smashing. It’ll be fun until someone runs in interrupting about some synth or safe house lost. Then back to business as usual. - (Side note: I headcannon the brotherhood interrupting during glory’s birthday party :). )

Minutemen is a bit tricky tbh. As a group, they definitely can spare a bit of supplies for a higher-ups birthday. If it’s just a regular soldier, they’ll probably get a pat on the back and a few nice words from Preston, with maybe so ammo. They don’t have a lot of time to spare, as well as materials to make it happen.

At home, (with the individual families and settlements), it’s hard to day. Depends on the person’s situation and preferences.

I think a lot of people celebrate turning a year older on new years. I’m guessing NYE is kinda a big deal. Like, we survived another year! Isn’t that great? And notjust us, but the world as we know it. Things shift, but they also stay the same. But war. War never changes.

What would Gob and Moira be like as traveling companions?

GOB

He would initially be really nervous to go outside of Megaton

Extremely curious about ghoul communities, which encourages him to explore with Lone

He’s a very wary companion and scopes out for danger any chance he gets

Struggles to sleep the first few nights outside

With a little more time getting used to it, he handles a gun pretty well in a fight and becomes more witted in fighting banter with enemies (which amuses Lone)

Enjoys the taste of freedom regardless of the price of giving up safety behind walls

Not great with hand-to-hand combat and pretty clumsy in difficult terrain

He especially loves visiting the Underworld [and Tenpenny Tower- assuming the other ghouls live there]

One day hopes to find a new place for himself in the Wasteland and talks highly about each new location they visit

Traveling conversations with him would involve deep personal talks about his next steps in life as he looks to Lone for advice, as well as friendly banter as he grows more comfortable with Lone as a friend/companion

Moira

She’s very curious about developing new survival tactics in the dangerous Wasteland and practically jumps at the opportunity to go explore with Lone

Has several maps with pre-marked locations of “hidden treasures” she wishes to find, all of course are just rumors she’s heard from travelers but she’s hopeful

Her bag is always stocked with goods for both her and Lone

Her handgun skills are merely average, but she’s surprisingly great with long-range scoped weapons

Bartering with traders comes naturally to her and she can easily obtain deals for Lone’s personal trading

Always carrying a sweet treat

She learns she has a love for explosions; Develops great handling on grenades

Lone’s input would be required for a new Wasteland Survival Guide that Moira determines she must write during her travels, as they experience a lot of new dangers together every day

Traveling conversations with her would include a lot of babbling about absolutely nothing, but also some very interesting theoretical inquiries whenever they come across a little-phenomenon

• she's bisexual ♥️ she dated winthrop BRIEFLY when she first got to underworld but it didnt work out. he later introduced her to carol

• she is unaware that ahzrukhal is trying to have her killed. if she knew she would get over there and kick the shit out of him her very self

• she is hard of hearing and Knows some asl from tulip but she really only uses it with carol

• she's always been interested in cars she covets a working car. she would be a terrible driver (< shes from massachusetts)

The Female voice of the Master deals with Mutants who are having trouble understanding orders. Before she was added to the hivemind, the Master kept struggling with this because he viewed them as dumb. He only had Richard and the angry voice. So, he sought out a commanding, but soft prime normal.

Fem: The Master would like you to help the humans around this area, right here. Do you see that? The Super Mutant looks at the circled area of the map. He seems to understand. Fem: Now, in order to help them, you must bring them to the military base. Bring them to Lou. Do that, and you will be able to join us. You want to join us, don't you?

Fo3 Companions Living in Megaton With Lone

Charon doesn't really have much of an opinion on the matter. If this is where you want to live, then this is where he'll follow you. Moira is always stopping by to ask if he could grab her something in a place that's just a bit too irradiated for her to do it herself, so he eventually refuses to answer the door for you. He'll gladly do anything else though, and he's not picky about the decor.

Clover doesn't mind, wherever you go, she'll go. She likes arranging things around the house and putting flowers in vases and whatnot. She does her best to keep the place as clean as possible and, although she covered him in graffiti, gets along decently well with Wadsworth. Moriarity will definitely try to manipulate her into some sort of contract so that he can have another "worker" alongside Nova, but other than having to keep an eye on her, she's easy to get along with.

Living in Megaton reminds Star Paladin Cross about when she escorted James here 19 years ago. It makes her feel slightly nostalgic being here again after all that time and seeing all the different changes that have been made. She doesn't mind how you decorate it and is happy with whatever as long as she's allowed to have a weapons workbench in one of the corners. She and Jericho might get into a few altercations from time to time, and she's always telling you about her gripes with Nathaniel, but she has enough manners and self-control to refrain from street fights. (more so for you're sake than hers).

Jericho is the trashiest roommate on this list, he doesn't even bother throwing things away. He'll just pile garbage into a corner until you decide you'll throw it out. The good news is, none of your neighbors are going to be trying anything with you since you're living with the town's local raider. Jericho also frequently gets into arguments with Wadsworth and eventually just locks him in a cage upstairs, so you can forget about having a butler helping you pick up all the junk he leaves around the place.

Butch will beg on bended knees for you to pay for the wasteland explorer theme for the house. Nothing would make him happier than having Moira wheel a motorcycle into the house. Overall, he's a decent roommate. He'll leave a mess in the living room and leaves his clothes everywhere, but other than the average frat boy shenanigans (expect there to be beer bottles everywhere), he's not so bad.

Besides him accidentally breaking things, Fawkes is probably the best to live with. He keeps the place relatively clean, keeps people out, and is just an overall joy to be around. He's sweet to all of your neighbors, even if they're open about not wanting him around. In all honesty, he's just happy to be out of that vault. He'd be happy anywhere and he especially loves having his own little nook for him to read and study. Soon enough you'll have a live-in doctor.

Every day, RL-3 will wake you up early so that you can begin your 5 a.m. workout routine. There is no resting when the possibility of communists lurking is high. He'll keep you and the other residents in line. Megaton will have a competent police force in no time, but the locals are gonna be upset with how demanding and loud he can get. Some (Jericho) might even try scrapping him for parts.

You'll get no complaints with Dogmeat. Everyone loves him and the kids that run around are always playing with him. Moira might try to train him to get her things, but other than that, you'll have no issues living with him.

when i first read Maxson's terminal entries in the Citadel when he was ten, and saw he had written "yesterday, Sarah taught me how to kill a man by stabbing him in the kidneys...i think i'm in love," my first thought was —

Since I’m back on my Butch DeLoria bullshit again, here’s some headcanons I came up with, and have continued to live rent free in my brain.

Despite it being so contrasting to the rowdy greaser image he projects, Butch is surprisingly a neat and tidy person. It comes from years of cleaning up after his mom, who was generally a messy person. As well as his experience being a barber, and having it drilled into him that he needed to keep his space and tools clean to prevent any sanitary issues.

Speaking of his experience as a barber, out in the wasteland he could be considered a chemist. Knowing all the chemicals for dying and treating hair is just part of his job, but if he applied it outside of hairstyling, he’d actually be pretty good at it.

Butch has A LOT of issues with abandonment; he just hates the idea of being alone. A lot of this stems from his childhood, having to deal with Ellen’s parenting, and what ended up going down in the vault after the LW left.

Butch is, usually, really good with kids. He just has a way with speaking to them that they like and will listen to him. He says it’s because he talks to them, not at them, it ain’t that hard to understand.

Butch definitely had a crush on Paul Hannon Jr, he just never realized it until after Paulie died. It has severely fucked him up :)

Arthur Maxson has internalized homophobia even though he’s probably bi. Defo has a crush on Danse like seriously.

Sturges absolutely has a crush on Preston Garvey.

Sarah Lyons did not die, she faked her death bcs pressure.

Cait needs a haircut 💇‍♀️.

After leaving the brotherhood Danse joins the minutemen.

Mina (My sole) has convinced several people that the minutemen’s actual slogan is “The Minutemen; we’ll take anybody, or anything.”

Synths that have the same letter designation are siblings

(Sort of an add on to the previous) Sturges’ synth designation is M1-69 (yes childish) so he and Danse (M7-97, yes I have that memorized) are brothers

Three Dog and Travis Miles would get along.
