listen if ao3(husband) goes down and I use ff.net(first love) to read my fics does that mean i’m cheating? 

To all my fellow writers who write for multiple fandoms, do you guys tend to have separate folders for each fandom, or do you just have one major fanfic folder with all your docs?

I’ve begun writing my very first fanfic (Percy Jackson - Harry potter crossover) but I don’t know how to get it to the right audience. I’ve posted it on wattpad and AO3, but that doesn’t seem to be doing much. I’d be grateful for suggestions and counsel ✨

The thing with Wattpad??

Apparently, Wattpad is having some sort of purge where a lot of fics are just suddenly being deleted??

I personally don't use Wattpad to read fics anymore (moved to a03 back in middle school) and only post on there because I like my fics being able to reach as many people as possible, but if you actively post on primarily Wattpad, please back up your works and find another site to post them on just in case. This is Fanfiction.net all over again and look what happened to them.

I would recommend A03 as a good site to switch to. A03 doesn't do purges like this and you can write basically whatever you want. A03 is an archive that lets you post stories of any kind. I've seen some people complain about it being hard to navigate but I genuinely don't know what they mean because even when I first started reading on A03 back in middle school, it did not take me long to figure out how to navigate it.

So I’m gonna explain to you what “pro shipping” is

In ye old fandom days, we just had “ship let ship” and “your kink is not my kink (and that’s okay)” and “don’t harass people over fiction you don’t like” and “block & move on” and all of this is internet etiquette

When “normal people with morals” started using anti-shipping first to break internet etiquette because they were uncomfortable with what people posted and refused to block/move on the term “proship” was coined as a counter ideology, basically internet etiquette but a fancy word for fandoms

And most proshippers are queer/trans. But even if they were cis/straight, it doesn’t matter. What really matters is that this whole push to sanitize adult spaces (which minors should NOT be in) started with religious Puritanism

“What if the children ‘turn gay’?”

“What if porn makes people believe they aren’t the gender they were born with?”

And remember how the same tactic was used both on livejournal as well as ffnet to demonize queer/trans people?

Warriors for innocence and absolute zero are both religious groups that successfully led to purging of content on livejournal. They collected lists and sent that to six apart (LJ owner then) and everyone on that list found themselves banned overnight

It may have hit actual predators but it also majorly hit queer/trans people, rape and csa survivors and labeled all of them as “porn sick” and “pedophiles”

And we have seen this tactic again and again and again, it’ll always begin with censoring immoral things but for many “immoral” things are also just queer people being queer

You’re playing into the hands of hate groups like libs of TikTok and wonder why people from countries far away see your “activism” now as bullying and describe you as “thought mafia” and “American feelings yakuza”

But then again you already said you’d condone violence and crimes against marginalized groups over fiction

my husband (ao3) who was sent off to war, not too long ago I received a letter announcing his death (error 500), through my grief and agony I have been unfaithful and sought comfort from my first love (fanfiction.net) to deal with my sudden lost 

Forgot to mention I'm making an AI-ven AU (Arven but what if Ai Turo/Sada was lonely down in Area Zero so they made a prototype of Arven?) Or, maybe I could do a multiverse thing where he comes thru the time machine with Iron Jaws/Bear Brawler (Paradox Mabosstiff) when Juliana is trying to shut the time machine down?

Tbh I don't have a lot of things set in stone sadly, but here are like, two sketches from it! My two compadres were able to help with with AI-ven's design, which I'll probably sketch a full concept later.

This is literally all I have art-wise atm, I apologize. But yeah, Ai-ven is very similar to Arven, but because he was built in the IMAGE of Arven via Turo and Sada's memories, he's very different, and much more ambitious, which makes him antagonistic. I...want him to be obsessed with Terapagos, maybe, or that one page in the Scarlet/Violet book about Terapagos and harnessing it's full potential. I also want him to bond with Juliana, but also there be signs in the overworld (during the game) that he is there, and he is attached to the player) and in Area Zero, Juliana mistakes him as Arven (who is alive and well) many many times.

AI-ven loves his parents very much, is also very work-ethical, more intelligent but too ambitious for his own good. Anything that gets in his way of thise ambitions, his self-defense protocols are switched on, sometimes by choice. He is also the reason Arven's Mabosstiff is critically injured, but that is not revealed.

Very loose plans and not a lot of finalization and I want a lot of twists and turns for the fic if I ever do make it (possibly on fanfic.net because i dont wanna go thru the months of waiting to make a new acc on ao3) so uh yeah! Also any advice for how to write fanfics or any ideas are welcome!

Be kind to young writers

When I was young, I started my writing career through fan fiction and it was brutal. I didn't just get hate, my stories was put on a forum called the "The Literate Union". It was a group of gatekeepers who tried to keep Fanfiction.Net a "pure" website, or whatever. To make sure everyone followed the guidelines and my stuff was reported on mass.

Un announced to them, FanFiction.Net doesn't actually do anything when you report stories so nothing happened but some of the reviews were so nasty, I legit cried. I'm actually surprised I'm still a writer. This was one of the reviews I received and keep in mind, I had to censor most of these words because this "review" would violate every possible harassment guideline on any social media website.

I'm only sharing this as a reminder, I was a child who had no idea what I was doing. Be kind to young writers, they need support not harassment. Oh, and if you want to know what fandom I was in to received this level of hate? it was the Warriors Cats fandom.

"I'm not going to sugar coat this; your 'story' is so very, very bad that I would prefer being force fed a glass full of [redacted] that has been thrown in a blender with coffee creamer and toenail clippings and made to look like a smoothie before being heavily diluted by [redacted] and [redacted] and covered in [redacted]. It is reminiscent of a kindergartner's first attempt at a story, minus the endearing spelling errors and five-year-old innocence. In fact, a [redacted] from the [redacted] could have done a better job of this.

Now that I've given you fair warning, you are free to stop reading at any time, as I'm sure your tiny little brain may have trouble understanding some of it.

This 'story' is a perfect example of how a twelve year old with a keyboard and half a brain cell can thoroughly [redacted] the English language, then laugh as it lays sobbing in its own [redacted] and [redacted]. I was fighting tears and vomit with every line, because quite frankly, this is the worst horror you could ever inflict on a person. A respectable author would have first written everything out, proofread it, realized it was shit, deleted it, tried again, and then sent it off to a Beta who would then tell the writer that it was shit, and repeat these steps until you have a story that is both readable and good. At one point I actually pulled out a screwdriver and began to take apart my computer in an attempt to destroy this plague against all works of fiction, when I realized that destroying my computer would not handle the problem efficiently. My cat's [redacted] has more creativity and format than this 'story' does, and it saddens me that no one has informed you of how extraordinarily awful this abomination is. I do hope that you'll find yourself a respectable Beta and some self-respect before you continue to ruin the eyes of whatever unfortunate soul happens upon this 'story' next.
