You think Martha deserved better because you think her being attracted to Ten is some moral failing she needed to correct I think Martha deserved better bc the misogynoir in S3 in the show and fandom was so rampant that Freema Agyeman, other Black and mixed actors and fans are dealing with the repercussions over a decade later we're not the same

Its kinda remarkable tht regardless of fandom the sole Black character of the group is always presented in fandom as the token straight, occasionally fandom will spice it up n say the character is ace or aro or aroace

You know what’s funny?
I was scrolling through twitter, minding my own business, when someone decided to fix their fingers to type that Miles Morales was representation done right, and that he gets lots of love because he’s not a "blackwashed” character like Halle Bailey’s Ariel...
And I’m just like...
Tumblr media
First of all, let’s not try to use Miles Morales as a beating stick against another Black character. ‘Kay? Second, when Miles Morales was first introduced in 2011 he was HATED. I mean HATED HATED. Nerds wanted him gone as quickly as possible, he was blamed for Ultimate Peter Parker’s death, etc.
HE WAS NOT BELOVED WHEN HE FIRST APPEARED.
So all these fake ass nerds trying to act like Miles was loved and are now using him to throw shade at Halle’s Ariel (much like people tried to use Princess Tiana to throw shade as well) need to sit down.
And for the record, Miles was called “Blackwashed” he was called “raceswapped” He was called “forgettable” and people were convinced that after a year no one would even know who he was (much like everyone believes Halle’s Ariel will be forgotten) Miles was called every name in the book. JUST LIKE HALLE’S ARIEL.
All the shit that Halle’s Ariel is going through now, Miles went through back in 2011. So let’s not act like TLM is getting antiblack hatred because Ariel was “introduced incorrectly” or “Was pushed badly” because this is sounding like some respectability politics nonsense.
And just because I can, I’m gonna spam pics of them....

A post discussing racism and antiblackness in fandoms and by developers is not the time for you to go proclaiming how much you hate a certain character in a reblog, the tags, or the replies...

“Me? Racist? Impossible!”
Every fandom discourse since 2015 has just been
Bigots: puts conservative ideology and bigotry front and center in their critiques of media
Everyone else: Your reviews are barely disguised excuses to hate on minorities
Bigots: We’re being attacked for expressing criticism for the thing we looooove! They hate the fans! They’re just calling us bigots because they don’t like our criticism!!
The irony being the real issues found in Chibnall’s Doctor Who and the sequel trilogy are obscured and actually talented reviewers are hard to find.
yeah I don't trust most reviewers lol. thanks for this!

K-pop stans will joke about how black people wouldn't like kpop because "you" in Korean sounds like the n word completely ignoring the fact that korea literally has their own fucking variation of the n word and that said black people actually don't like kpop because of so many reasons that they call out but said kpop stans will do anything in their power to harass and silence them

No, Star Wars fandom, you're not racist for disliking Reva. You're racist for sending hate mail and death threats to Moses Ingram filled with racial slurs.
You're racist for bullying Kelly Marie Tran off social media with hateful posts and death threats littered with racial slurs. You're racist for bullying Daisey Ridley off Instagram with racial slurs and death threats for posting a picture of herself just standing beside John Boyega. You're racist for sending John Boyega hate mail and death threats filed with racial slurs. You're racist for acting a damn fool because there was a Black Stormtrooper in the trailer for The Force Awakens.
Why else do you think major news networks have done major pieces about how racist Star Wars fandom is? Why else do you think Disney and Ewan McGregor had to go out of their way to tell people not to be racist to the actors?
No, you're not being called racist because you don't like Reva. You're being called racist for doing racist shit.
"But I didn't know!"
Now you do.
"But I'm not doing that!"
So raise your voice against those who do.

What does Racial Gaslighting look like in Fandom Spaces?
Tumblr media
Calling people who complain about racism "crackpots" and comparing them to Homophobes
Tumblr media
Suggest that people who conplain about racism are tge real issue and undo progress with over their obsession
Tumblr media
Whatever the hell this was about God!
Tumblr media
And comparing BLM to fictional reverse racist supremacy groups as a joke (thankfully this got removed from the wiki it was on)

As much I as love Martha's S3 ending, how it means so much to me on a personal level, the whole "Martha Jones is so strong she doesn't need the doctor" has never sat right with me. Her strength should be praised, but the only reason Martha was strong is because she had no other choice. It was be strong or let Ten keep putting her down across time and space. It was be strong or let Joan Redfern be racist to her. It was be strong or let the Family of Blood murder everyone. It was be strong or let her family get tortured. It was be strong or let the Master kill you for fun.
Martha doesn't need the doctor because she had to outgrow him for her own wellbeing, not because she inherently cares less about them compared to everyone else.
Had she been treated with kindness and grace like every other companion, she could have "wanted" him like the others. It's wild to me how in a show about the magic of space and time the first Black companion's main thing has to be... that she doesn't have to have any of it apparently. This othering dressed up as a compliment of how unique she is. You don't set someone on fire then congratulate them for putting out the flames.

Star Trek fans just REFUSE to give Star Trek Discovery it's flowers.
Fuck, Star Trek actually released a vid that said, BLATANTLY, that the reason we're in a new Golden era of Trek is because of DISCO
A show with a Black female lead and wonderful LGBTQIA inclusion, and most comments seem to be HELL BENT on throwing shade. And it's been that way for years now.
So...can Star Trek fans stop acting like they're so above other fandoms when it comes to inclusion and diversity, because every time I read any of their comments, I get Iris West/Candace Patton flashbacks.

"wyll's too nice i'd like him more if he were a little meaner and angrier" you guys couldn't handle vivienne de fer having a complicated relationship with the oppressive system she was raised in. you couldn't handle liam costa making a minor but well-intentioned mistake. you couldn't handle preston garvey having a recurring fetch quest.
you couldn't even handle early access wyll who was angrier and grappled with moral quandaries more. and you can't handle wyll as he is now when he playfully teases astarion.

Just because Carol disappeared doesn't mean her absence negates the care she provided Monica before and/or after. That's a really fucking gross take on parenting. Along those lines all the dead parents weren't actually parents, or the soldiers and fly in/out workers etc etc etc. And you know what, don't you actually have a non poc mod on this account talking about poc issues like they have any fucking right to??????? Wtf is up your ass cause it ain't the fucking truth.
First of all there's 3 of us. I'm mod ali, there's a mod laina who's mostly mia and mod palette. We're all poc.
I'm going to refer you to moths video on the subject and leave this alone because it's past 2am.

So if you'd like to get me in a better mood to dissect this for you pls do your homework and return no earlier than 5 hours from now. You will be asked to support your claims and understand marvel comics. In particular how captain marvel should have been a vehicle for Monica rambeau.
good night

This is and isnt in the vein of the felix encanto post yall just reblogged BUT i kinda hate seeing shippers imply that Felix and Augustin dont love their wives and in fact love each other when its SO clear how much they love their wives.
I'm... I?? I'm not surprised but I totally hadn't come across that before. Like on the one hand everyone wants tia pepa (the whitest of the triplets) far away from her dark skinned husband felix.
for reference here's tia pepa and Felix
Tumblr media
Like granted I wanted to go back and rewatch encanto to double check if agustin and felix even had any scenes together but alas I have no spoons left.
anyways its antiblack racism plain and simple.
