a few hours ago i finished aftersun (2022) and it’s going right in the section of movies that have emotionally wrecked me.
within about a year’s timeframe i have watched the lost daughter (2021), synecdoche new york (2008), everything everywhere all at once (2022), private life (2018), mass (2021), the florida project (2017), manchester by the sea (2016), the fallout (2021), the tale (2018), a mouthful of air (2021), and now aftersun (2022). these characters that live in these films remind me of the beauty of life and how it’s tucked into a bed of pain. i have thought about all of them for hours. i’ve cried over them. i’ve spoken to my therapist about some of them. even though some of them brought a pit into my heart i still love them. i love film. it’s beautiful. i love how emotionally powerful it is. i love the perspectives it can give on every aspect of the human experience. how you can watch something you’ve never experienced and yet it feel so familiar to you. or how you can watch something you have experienced and feel so seen and heard in a way you never thought was possible. art is beautiful. i never want humans to stop creating. film is something i need in my life and i don’t care how dramatic that sounds. the ability to express emotion in a creative setting is necessary for everyone whether you’re the creator or are a viewer. i don’t know what else to say except that life is so fucking difficult and there’s so many moments that are hard to grasp and understand, and it’s tough but knowing that i’m still here means there’s so much beauty and happiness and laughter and joy that will fill my days. just keep going, keep creating, and keep consuming any sort of art. it’s necessary for the soul.

I've been on a kick drawing chibis of my favorite characters these days? Sorry for the big tagfest- I really don't want to have to make seperate posts for each seperate thing, you know.
In order we got York from Deadly Premonition, Martel from Theresia, Mephistopheles from Faust: Seven Games of the Soul, Leanne from Theresia, and Ulysses and Benny from Fallout New Vegas. I should have more coming soon, I hope!

Fallout 3: Infiltrator
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Were you previously aware that according to Emil Pagliarulo, the Infiltrator, introduced in The Pitt add-on, was directly inspired by the MAC-10 wielded by Snake Plissken in the 1981 film, Escape from New York?
The Infiltrator's asset was re-used in Fallout: New Vegas, where it appears as a display prop at Mick and Ralph's.
You can check out the page for the Infiltrator here:

Hypothetical for you all: After a horrific accident, you get put under at a hospital for some emergency surgery. However, when you reopen your eyes, you find that you're not in the hospital anymore. In fact, you're not in your body anymore! Your brain has been transplanted into a clunky robot body (something akin to the Robobrains from Fallout, something boxy and silly looking), and you seem to be entirely on your own!
Exploring around your nearby environment, a mysterious, seemingly abandoned lab, you find that you apparently had moral wounds 200 years ago, and the doctors treating you decided to scoop out your brain for their secret project, claiming that you succumbed to your injuries to any interested parties. They placed you into the mechanical body and got everything set up, then left you to format with the program that let's you brain interact with the mechanical body, but due to a technical error it took an exceptionally long time. Originally they were going to terminate the project due to this time issue, but it seems the world ended before they could, and you've only just now finished the original sequencing program, granting you full control over your clunky mechanical body.
Regardless, you find yourself in an abandoned New York City 200 years in the future. The world is overrun with mutated plant and animal life (there appears to have been some kind of nuclear conflict, wiping out most of humanity and leaving you by yourself in this one prosperous metropolis), and you have pretty well the entire place to yourself.
What do you do? You're an immortal brain in a mobile tank (in both senses of the word tank), seemingly all by yourself in the post-apocalypse. You have no need to eat, sleep, or drink anymore, and between the internal miniature nuclear reactor and backup solar panels powering you, you don't have to worry about ever running out of power. What do you do, as a brain in the ruins of the old world, on the cusp of a new one?
Tl;Dr: After a horrible accident knocks you out, you wake up 200 years in a post-apocalyptic, abandoned New York City as an immortal brain in an ultra-durable, ultra-goofy robot body. There doesn't seem to be any signs of humans still living in or anywhere immediately around abandoned New York, but there are plenty of funky mutant animals and plants. What do you do, now that you're functionally immortal as a Robobrain from Fallout inside of the new world?

Across the Universe
"Like a flash of light
In the endless night..."
"Anesthesia" from Life is Killing Me
Amongst the twinkling stars of the universe, there exists the flickering fragments of a series of moving images in which a face looms from the darkness and celebrants dance around a group of musicians, doing the Batusi.
These flickering fragments join the ever-expanding bubble of commercial radio and television transmissions that have slipped loose of the bonds of the Earth's atmosphere and are moving outward to spread enigma through the universe.
Moving at the speed of light, these fragments have travelled further than Voyager 1, and, are presently lapping at the shores of whatever planets may be orbiting 61 Ursae Majoris.
And, from there, to the limitless cosmos.
Some day, some sentient being on another world will experience the moving images comprising the video for "Black No. 1" for the first time.
At least by that point in time, they will have also experienced The Three Stooges, Looney Tunes, and Monty Python's Flying Circus...
Requiescat in pace
Peter Thomas Ratajczyk
(January 4, 1962 - April 14, 2010)
The images of your looming "Great and Powerful Oz"-like visage, stripe-y pirate shirt (Yo Ho!), and ginormous... upright... bass.. will live on to eternity- or at least until they are lost to a black hole (or is that the album cover for Origin...?)
