New Alfa Romeo / Sauber name
Tumblr media
The FIA has published the official entry list for next years F1 season. And on that list, the former Alfa Romeo team is called 'Stake F1 Team Kick Sauber'. Also, rumours say, the team will officially race under the name of 'Kick Formula 1 Team Sauber' at some races.
Next years chassis will be called 'KICK Sauber C44'.
The new name of Alpha Tauri isn't known yet, the team is still called Alpha Tauri on the entry list. Only difference is that it has an RB at the end of it's name.
And Cognizant isn't title sponsor of Aston Martin anymore.

more spirk fics i've read recently and loved
The Promised Land by gunstreet @gunstreet (TOS) - buckle in and get ready for chapters and chapters of p-a-i-n. it's divorce era spirk (pre-TMP) and it hurts oh so good. have a desperate need to find out what spock was thinking when he chose kolinahr? you will wonder no more. also, there's sex. a lot of it and beautifully done. all around perfection
The Accidental Matchmaker by notboldly (AOS) - it's valentine's day on the enterprise and spock receives an unexpected note. this had me muttering "oh spock" (affectionate) under my breath as i read
emotionally compromised by thesorrowoflizards (AOS) - an extremely thoughtful and poignant rewrite of the bridge scene in the 2009 movie. gen not slash, but who needs sex when you get the vulnerability of tos spock in aos spock?
Between Me and You by Solid_Medical_Advice (TOS) - ONE BED! need i say more? well, i will anyway. this fic has a touch of angst but it's mostly fluff and feelings and is terribly soothing
home by Sir_Bedevere (TOS) - am i sucker for everything OMS? yes, yes i am. have another entry into the old married space husbands being adorably old and married (with a cat!)
Injury by iyokou (AOS) - F1 AND STAR TREK??? i love it when my fandoms collide. AND IT'S EXPLICIT HURT COMFORT??? *eternal sigh of happiness*
The Other Uniform by Bibarian (AOS) - jim wears an alternate uniform, spock loses his shit. spock & uhura bffs. then sex. how can you go wrong?
The way that we love at night (gave me life) by phlebotinxm (AOS) - obligatory PWP entry for this list and this one is established relationship so it's a completely different kind of good
(This and Every) Morning After by Solid_Medical_Advice (TOS/AOS) - are they friends with benefits? is it unrequited love? you probably already know those answers but this fic is still fun as hell to read. also, CONFIDENT SPOCK. i am here for all confident spock
Sweet dreams (of course I love you) by decidedlynotheterosexual @decidedly-not-heterosexual (TOS) - fluff, ALL fluff. need a happy read? this is it
and, for once, i don't have any non-spirk fics to rec, but there are two entries in the "aliens made them do it" trope for this list:
Lead Us to Our Own Bliss by gunstreet (TOS) - i'm hesitant to read this trope because it often involves non-con, but @gunstreet handled it perfectly. this fic definitely has voyeurism, but it's more about their awakening of their feelings for each other
Red Matter: Scents, Starfleet, and Kurage Sushi by CampySpaceSlime (TOS) - this was so. damn. creative. omg. unlike anything i could've expected and just as weird and alien as space should be
(you can find previous recs under fic rec and/or spirk fic recs)
reminder - please do send me recs and feel free to self-promo!

Now that the season is over, here are my predictions as to what will make it into Drive to Survive.
!Disclaimer! DTS was my entry into this sport. I think the show is great in its own way and an excellent way to reach new fans, this is mostly just for fun. (If you can't make fun of the things you love I'm the wrong person to have on your dash)
Here is my list in no particular order
HAAS: They love a HAAS focused episode, partly because it brings Steiner into the picture. I personally never got why people like him but if it works it works I guess. Expect many "Suck my balls" jokes. Otherwise we are scheduled for our regular viewing of HAAS being absolutely washed on track with Guenther calling Gene every five minutes.
Qatar: Things they WONT cover about Qatar; the drivers collapsing and passing out from heat exhaustion, the tracklimits and tyre fiasco. Things they WILL cover about Qatar; the mercs crashing into eachother on lap 1 (with THAT clip of Lewis playing like 50 times), Oscar winning the sprint. I imagine them spinning it in a way that makes the sprint a huge deal (cue clip of Will Buxton talking about how essential the sprint is for F1 as a sport and almost more important than the grand prix itself). This brings me to my next point
Civil wars: We have the real civil wars and the fake ones. I imagine them using the Qatar gp to make up a war between Oscar and Lando, framing it as Oscar as a rookie getting a win before Lando. Not sure who they are gonna make the villain here, probably Lando. They could also fabricate one at Ferrari given how this car suits Carlos more than Charles, will probably blow Monza out of proportion. Merc civil war might get a whole episode(be honest, we all know that one is a competitive car away from blowing up). The french civil war is the one I'm looking forward to the most because BOY do those two like to play it dirty. I'm frothing at the mouth already to see the backhanded compliments, the jabs, the shady comments they have probably been giving in the dts interviews. Speaking of Alpine
Alpine vs Mclaren(Oscar): This is a must because they made that whole thing last season. Episode will start out with a really smug Alpine team but we will get to witness the horrible car crash of a season they are having with the amazing dts editing. Can't wait to see the Silverstone part where they show the double DNF side by side with the Mclarens celebrating a p2 p4.
Singapore: The only non Redbull winner so I will be surprised if they don't feature it. They also love a dramatic crash and Lance's one in Singapore qualy is probably the most intense one we had this season. Will probably also use the onboard footage from Lando to show the tyre skirting by him to really amp it up.
Red bull: Will it be about their amazing achievements as a team this year? No. Will it be about Max and his fantastic race craft and the way he hasn't put a single foot wrong? No. It will be about Checo and his struggles. Will also have interviews of Christian defending him that become fewer and fewer the longer into the season we go. The win streak and the domination will be mentioned only in contrast to Checo. I also have a theory that red bull might drop checo and if they do I promise you the reveal in the show will go exactly like this:
Christian: We have given him time and patience, but at some point we need to start looking elsewhere, Mclaren have an amazing pairing, Mercedes have an amazing pairing even Ferrari have really started to get into their groove. He really left us no choice.
*Dramatic music, cut to black*
"Hi I'm Daniel Ricciardo and I'm a driver for Red Bull racing. Fuck, that felt so good to say *big Daniel smile.*"
Las Vegas: Will be shown as the most epic race this season with all drivers hyping it up (Might be able to include Max in that one with enough editing). What they WONT cover: all of the thursday/free practice shenanigans. What they WILL cover: The fact that the race was a banger.
Alpha Tauri: They have the perfect angle for this set up already. Nyck was talking himself up big time last season so they are just gonna overlay that with Nyck having a mare on track. They're gonna make whole "I'm back bitches" thing with Daniel. Then they're gonna make his accident real tragic (they could also make it into a Thing that it was Oscar that Daniel tried to avoid when putting it in the wall). Not really sure what they're gonna make out of Liams short stint.
Ferrari vs Mercedes fight for p2 is gonna be HELLA dramatic. They are going to drag out that race and insert radio messages where they don't belong. I also think they are gonna make it look like Carlos was closer to Lewis in the race than what he actually was.
As I said, these are just my speculations. based on the way the show has been and are mostly just for fun.

F1 Fanfics rec list : cat!drivers
Tumblr media
That's when something wild calls you home (5217 words) by TheWiseOne12 Relationships: Lewis Hamilton/Lando Norris/Sebastian Vettel, Lewis Hamilton/Sebastian Vettel Summary: Seb was in the middle of working at his desk when he heard a slamming noise. At first, he thought that it was his husband coming home but he quickly realised that the noise hadn’t been loud enough to be the door. For a split second, he thought about ignoring but then he worried that something had fallen off a shelf so he got up from his desk chair and headed out of his office and into the lounge. And he was very surprised to see a tabby cat sitting in the living room, in front of the apartment door on the entry mat. Because he and Lewis didn’t own a cat.
Atticus Caticus (4875 words) by finalframe Relationships: Charles Leclerc/Sebastian Vettel Summary: As Sebastian Vettel awoke one morning from a dreamless sleep, he found himself transformed in his bed into a cat. (Or, how Sebastian learned how to hold his tongue around circuit cats: the hard way.)
5+1 cat fic (5612 words) by Sporthb1 Relationships: Daniel Ricciardo/Max Verstappen Summary: 5 times the fans just thought Dan loved his cat alot and one time they realised it was Max all along (or max can shapeshift and just wants cuddles)
That’s the catitude! (6436 words) by Sporthb1 Relationships: Daniel Ricciardo/Max Verstappen, Lewis Hamilton/Sebastian Vettel, Pierre Gasly/Charles Leclerc Summary: 5+1 ish of how the drivers found out that Max could shapeshift into the cutest cat for snuggles reasons. this is a prequel that should be read second for it to make sense which is weird but oh well.
No kitten- I’m smitten (2643 words) by Sporthb1 Relationships: Daniel Ricciardo/Max Verstappen Summary: After Max's cat form becomes public knowledge he quickly realises that he can use it to cuase chaos. 5+1 of Max and co (mostly Dan actually) using cat form to mess with the press
The Adventures of Lando Meowrris and Clawlos Sainz (2215 words) by hibivrooms Relationships: Lando Norris/Carlos Sainz Jr Summary: It is a beautiful day in Lucerne, Switzerland, and Carlos Sainz can't find his husband anywhere.
purring in my lap ('cause he loves me) (5071 words) by nyoomfruits Characters: Lando Norris, Oscar Piastri Summary: The cat thing ends up getting sort of explained in Bahrain, when Lando walks into his driver room and finds a small orange cat sitting on his couch. Oscar’s cat, presumably. And he kind of looks like Oscar, too. Slender, lean, and with a slightly grumpy, unimpressed expression on his face. It makes Lando laugh a little. Like owner, like pet, clearly. “Should I just call you Oscat, then,” Lando jokes, giving the cat a little head scratch. The cat, Oscat, stops rubbing at Lando’s hand and just stares at him instead. Lando would almost say he was looking at him disapprovingly, but it is a cat, so he’s probably just imagining things.
So hold my hand, I'll walk with you my dear (7281 words) by TheWiseOne12 Relationships: Max Fewtrell/Lando Norris Summary:
But, on the other hand, there were some shapeshifters that you found out about their animal form and it just clicked perfectly. And that was Lando for Max.
[5 times Lando caused chaos in cat form and 1 time he caused chaos in human form]
The cat in the big red ferrari (1164 words) by Mymanisagayman Relationships: Charles Leclerc/Carlos Sainz Jr Summary: A story where Carlos tries his best hiding his little secret, which appears to be harder than ever at some moments. (Australia 2023 but i didnt include the Ferrari quali drama for various reasons. Didnt want it to be angst)
you've got to be kitten me (9182 words) by Quagswagging Relationships: Daniel Ricciardo/Max Verstappen, Pierre Gasly & Max Verstappen, Charles Leclerc & Max Verstappen, Mick Schumacher & Max Verstappen, Lewis Hamilton/Sebastian Vettel, Pierre Gasly/Charles Leclerc, Michael Italiano & Daniel Ricciardo Summary: Max uses his cat form to get the affection he doesn't dare to ask for when he's in human form. Along the way, he not only gets cuddled a lot, but he also gets a lot closer to Daniel, who has taken a liking to the stray cat he calls Captain McCloud.

As we get closer to the race week, let's analyze just a little bit more in depth.
First, our track!
Listed under this category is about every turn and what to expect.
Tumblr media
This is the track with the F1 trackmap laid over an aerial photo. (Cut off purple dot is the speed trap, or, the area where top speeds are hit on the track).
Let's analyze some of the more fun parts now instead of the big picture first.
Tumblr media
This is the first set of turns, T1-3. Right off the bat, you're drawn to the fact it curves in on itself, right? Did you notice the elevation? This below is the elevation changes of the entire track. Notice how this is relatively the only major spike? Yas Marina in Abu Dhabi has more elevation change than Shanghai, fun fact! This part of the track is slow speed, especially while under a safety car, virtual safety car, or if there's a long train of cars causing traffic. Also take notice of the pit exit line and there it ends! If you are overtaking on the inside (towards the pit wall) and there's a car leaving the pits, you need to make the move before you reach that car or you may have to back out. T4 also joins in at the exit of T3.
Tumblr media
Now, it's extremely hard to find really any footage of this track, but since its layout has not been altered for F1 racing, I'll be using screenshots from this old F1 YouTube video. They are using much older cars so I can warn that braking points, speeds, and gears may be different, but I'm not exactly sure.
T5 is a flat out kink, so it's rather irrelevant. While maybe there could be something, we won't focus on it too much, instead talking about our once again tight turn, T6! Ignore the extra bit of track joining on at the exit of the turn, that is the layout for endurance or super car racing. This turn could be more daring to attempt an overtake at than our previous T1-3.
Turn 7 is an extremely long left hand turn which can see a lot of overtaking opportunities in my opinion and it's nearly flat out.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Now we flick over to the right for T8 before immediately going left again for T9.
While these aren't exactly slow speed turns, they aren't exactly high speed either in retrospect to the rest of the circuit.
T10 here may look sharp, but it's a very easy flowing turn, fitting in perfectly at the end of T9's left over curvature and there's no need to change speed as far as I'm aware.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
T11 is a slow corner, but when the car reaches T12, it's almost flat out with maybe some lifting (neither applying acceleration or brakes) needed as tyres warm up or degrade and the traffic. Understeering or locking up for T11 will result in a gravel trap and possible beaching of cars if they aren't lucky.
Directly connected to T12 is T13, a fast right hander that will be entirely flat out as well. The angle the tyres turn to the right will be higher than T12 and we're going much faster. This is a good overtaking spot to put a car in between you and a threatening car if you can still secure DRS or slipstream. Why?
Tumblr media Tumblr media
The end of T13 is the entrance of our extremely long straight. If you have a bad exit out of this turn, you could compromise yourself going onto the straight.
Finally we reach the very tight hairpin, T14. This is the slowest turn on the circuit which is coincidentally directly after the speed trap where drivers will be maxing out the speed in their cars, paired with possible DRS, energy/battery usage, and risky and late divebombs, we can hopefully expect a lot of action here as T14 is wide enough to provide a great overtaking zone. An absolutely large run off and gravel trap stands ready for any possible incidents.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
T16 is our final turn before we reach our pit straight. We have a small straight here and a bit of runoff, combined with the pit entry. That's right, that weird hook at the end is our pit entry. Shanghai has a pretty long entry until you reach the pit marker, as well.
Our turns boxed in orange are where we can see the most tyre degradation. T13 is especially brutal thanks to the speed carried through the fast turn.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
In 2019, the tyre compounds listen in green were chosen for the weekend. We can expect either similar or the same tyres chosen.
We also have the chance to see the intermediate compound (green tyre) used in the weekend as of 4/11.
Speaking of which, let's move to the weather forecast.
Listed in this category will be weather forecasts and what they could mean.
First, The Weather Channel approximates a 64% chance of rain Friday, a 40% chance of rain on Saturday, and a 52% chance of rain on Sunday. On top of this, an estimate of 16-32 km/h wind on Friday and 16-24 km/h winds on Saturday and Sunday.
Secondly, the standard Apple weather app. A prediction of 40% rain on Friday with 11-27 km/h winds with 51 km/h gusts, no rain Saturday but 12-22 km/h winds and 44 km/h gusts. Sunday is the same with no rain predicted but 10-19km/h winds and 31 km/h gusts.
Lastly, AccuWeather gives us a 25% rain chance Friday with 14 km/h winds, 55% rain chance Saturday paired with a 19 km/h wind speed, and 25% chance Sunday with 11km/h winds.
Does this matter? At the moment, not really. The weather is still too far out to accurately predict, especially the wind speed. However, we have two apps predicting a dry full race and a chance for rain in the sprint or qualifying. Apple raises an eyebrow here with a prediction only forcasting rain Friday where it's our only practice session, paired with The Weather Channel. However, don't expect a wet session at all, conditions are still free to change. I recommend waiting for teams to post their weather forecast predictions (Aston Martin, Williams, etc.).
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Final notes?
Well, keep your eyes out? The last time we were at this track, we didn't have ground effect cars, our current era cars since 2022.
Keep an eye on Sauber as well as while they are improving in pitstops, their minor fix isn't supposed to come till Miami last time I heard. (Yes, they said it wasn't a complete fix they had, more acting as a temporary improvement for the time being). Especially with their driver Zhou Guanyu racing his first ever home grand prix (his special helmet is pretty cool and unique as well for the race).
Also, did you know that the circuit is modelled after the the Mandarin character 上 [shàng]. It's the first character of the word, 上海, which is how you spell Shanghai? 上 also means "above" or "ascend" which pairs well with the elevations rise into our first turns and our fast speed turns throughout the track.
Always here to answer questions if this was at all confusing 🩵
Also, if any has one a racing games (F123, Assetto Corsa, etc.), I recommend taking the track out for a spin if you have access to the track.
Apologies for the really long post, see y'all later!!

2023
Stepping back into your boss’ executive conference room the next morning, you have a mild heart attack. The table’s surface is clear of all the paperwork that Charles signed last night and even the canister of pens has been straightened up. You blink down, still stunned by the sight. Filing paperwork is one of your job responsibilities. Why would anyone else be in your boss’ private, securely-locked conference room touching paperwork for a case that isn’t theirs, unless…
You don’t hesitate to knock on your boss’ door, opening it wide when he bids you entry. “Good morning, sir,” you say, careful to keep your voice even. “I met with Mr. Leclerc last night to sign the power of attorney paperwork laid out on your conference room table, but this morning –”
“Ah, yes,” Xavier cuts you off with a stiff attempt at a reassuring smile. “Yes, I took the liberty of filing the paperwork myself this morning. There were… some finer points that I wanted to handle personally.”
None of that sounds right. Why would your boss stoop to such a menial task? Especially for paperwork on standard forms that you’ve seen dozens of times on other cases. Despite the confused torrent of your thoughts, you offer a slow nod. “Oh, well, glad to hear that they’re not missing. Erm, thank you for… taking care of that.”
“Not at all.” He placates with another disconcerting smile. “Thank you again for taking the meeting last night. I have an appointment to meet Señor Leclerc at his office in three days from now, but I’ve been reassured that it’s not to discuss anything negative from last night’s meeting.”
Your conversation with Charles flashes in your memory, and again, all you can immediately summon is another nod. “Sounds good, err – thank you for clarifying, and for letting me interrupt.”
“Not at all.” He says again, turning back towards his laptop, and you close the door behind you.
You can’t make heads or tails of it. Something about the entire situation feels so incredibly off, but you can’t place your finger on it. Taking a deep breath to try and displace your unease, you walk back to your office and unlock your laptop.
Unbidden, the memory of George’s smiling, handsome face flashes in your mind. You remember your new days at this firm all too well, and maybe that’s what you need to feel normal right now – commiserating with a fellow new paralegal about the woes of work.
Clicking open the office chat program, you search for ‘George Russell’. Your brow furrows as nothing comes up. Perhaps you misheard him and instead, you just search ‘George’. Several names appear in the results, but there’s no last name that even comes close to resembling Russell. Had you really misheard him that bad? You debate going to ask his boss, Musconi, about him, but you don’t need to stalk him like that.
You just need to drink your coffee and get on with your job, no matter what weirdness has transpired in the last twelve hours.
But four days later, you nearly spew coffee all over your kitchen when the news breaks.
SENIOR PARTNER AT PROMINENT MONEGASQUE LAW FIRM FOUND DEAD
Senior Partner Xavier Marcos Padros at the prestigious law firm of Hunt & Lauda was found dead in his home during early hours this morning. Authorities have already launched a full-scale investigation into his death that sources are calling a homicide. There were no immediate signs of forced entry at Padros’ residence, but the victim was found in the kitchen in a pool of blood believed to be his own.
Authorities also paid a visit to Padros’ office at Hunt & Lauda, and found the place ransacked. With papers strewn about and drawers ripped from cabinets, sources suspect that a theft has also taken place, but are careful to note that no such scene of destruction was observed at Padros’ residence. At this time, it’s unconfirmed that the two incidents are linked but authorities are investigating all leads.
You have to read the article twice to fully understand it. The shock of it slams through you, and your hand trembles to think of your boss just suddenly… dead. Murdered, even. Again, you scan the mention of homicide and your stomach sours. Especially as you do the quick math and realize that last night was his meeting with Mr. Leclerc. Though, didn’t he say that the meeting was at Mr. Leclerc’s office?
Just what the hell had happened last night?
Closing the article, you open your work email and look for any sort of corporate announcement. But there’s nothing new in your inbox at the early hour and with shaky motions, you go about getting ready for the workday. The sight of the office building twists your gut as you park and the buzz of the sodium-vapor lights does little to reassure you. As you ascend the floors in the elevator, you decide to stop in the main lobby and confirm that your floor is even still accessible. If the authorities are investigating Padros’ office vandalism, then maybe, they’ve closed off the whole area.
A scene of pandemonium greets you as you step out of the elevator. A cordon of building security and police hold back a horde of clamoring journalists as harried employees and clients try to get through the front door. The receptionist at the main desk looks frazzled and teary eyed as she contends with all the commotion while still trying to do her job. People form a line in the elevator lobby – and goodness, it’s just barely 0630 hrs, but it might as well be midday for all the activity that flurries around you.
A cry of your name rises over the din, and you look around with wide eyes. It sounds… oddly familiar, and you stare in wide-eyed surprise as George works his way through the crowd. “Oh, my goodness,” he comments, glancing around, “this is far too much.” Searching your face, he places a supportive hand on your forearm, steering you towards an open space along the wall. “How are you doing? Are you alright after such tragic news?”
“Wait,” you exhale uneasily, shaking your head as you still try to process what’s happening. “How… how do you know that I’d be upset about Padros’ –” your voice sticks in your throat as you realize what you’re able to say aloud. “... death?”
George’s eyes soften with kind concern. “The office chat program lists your supervisor, and I saw that it was Padros.”
“That’s funny. I tried looking you up and couldn’t find you at all.”
He shrugs, completely unbothered. “Sounds like all IT departments are the same in that they move at a snail’s pace. I’m sure it’ll be updated soon, but you still haven’t answered my question. How are you doing?” His fingers give your arm an encouraging squeeze, and it’s more comforting that you realize.
Slowly, you nod. “I’m alright, I think… in shock more than anything, I suppose. He was just… I mean, I just saw him yesterday. And now he’s… dead? And they suspect homicide?” It’s still a lot to process, and despite yourself, a tear stings the corner of your eye. “He was a good guy – he helped people. I mean, who wants to murder a lawyer?”
George chuckles gently, and really, there is something beautiful about his crystal blue eyes. “Did you really just ask that question aloud? Aren’t lawyers always the bad guys?”
“They’re just messengers. Representatives, really.”
“They’re also the keepers of secrets and lies. The twisters of words and the weavers of tales.”
Your brow pinches in mild affront. “And yet you work for them?”
George shrugs with a modest, boyish smile. “I didn’t say that those are necessarily bad things, but things that someone – an aggrieved party, perhaps – might be willing to kill for.”
“But none of his cases were so contentious…” Your words trail off as you try to quickly think through his open case files. Honestly, you don’t know how many in total he handled via his team of paralegals, but you know that none of your case files were so intense. And if not, intense… then, maybe there was just the one unusual case… with Mr. Leclerc.
“You know the police will come asking.” George says, glancing around the bustling lobby with a wary eye. “That’s probably what the reporters are all waiting for, either that or they’re waiting to see if anything is positively identified as missing from his office.”
“God, I can’t even imagine how anyone could ever confirm it for sure, he has so many case files.”
“Then, maybe it wasn’t a file.” George’s brow furrows in thought. “Do you know if he received any packages lately? Or items from a client?”
You purse your lips as you shake your head. “Nothing that I can recall, but I can’t see his office from my desk, so it’s possible, I suppose.”
George nods silently in acknowledgement, giving your arm another gentle squeeze before letting go. “Well, I’m sure the police will turn up something… they won’t be able to live it down otherwise. But I should stop wasting your time and let you get on with your day.”
Your mouth curls to a soft smile. “You’re not wasting my time, George. And it is good to see you again.”
“Yeah, you, too.” He agrees, offering a brilliantly handsome smile. “Take care.”
“Same to you.” You turn in the direction of the elevators, surprised as he moves back down the corridor. “Hey,” you call out after him and he turns back around, “aren’t you heading up to your office?”
“Nah, I want to get a coffee first. You go on ahead.”
Nodding numbly, you offer him a farewell wave and join the elevator queue. You still don’t know if your floor is open or not, but when the elevator dings and the doors open, your day upends.
A team of investigators swarm the floor, leaving no stone unturned as forensics conducts their business and employees are questioned. After confirming your name and job position, you’re instantly swept into your office with an officer for what seems like an endless stream of questions. Hours pass and your brain is a puddle of mush when they’re finished, but really, you don’t know what else to say.
Well… perhaps you could have been a little more truthful about your unease with the Leclerc meeting earlier in the week. Perhaps you also could have mentioned that your boss supposedly had a meeting with Mr. Leclerc last night, but once they gain access to his phone and schedule, they’ll learn that for themselves. Besides, you only have an unfounded hunch and that’s no basis to pin the suspected murder of your boss on a relative stranger, no matter how unusual some of the finer details are.
“There were… some finer points that I wanted to handle personally.”
Just what had Xavier meant?
When the police finally leave you to the silence of your office and the tumult of your thoughts, you wonder if maybe… just maybe the Leclerc paperwork is still in the building. Maybe the police haven’t confiscated it as part of their investigation, and you can see just what you might have overlooked.
In the meantime, the contents of your inbox have exploded, and you lose several more hours answering emails and reassuring clients that more information about the status of their cases are forthcoming. The sun slides below the horizon before you realize the hour – a common habit in your profession – and with it, the hum of investigative activity has also decreased.
In fact, as you head for the break room to refill your water bottle, you notice only one or two other fellow employees on the floor. The path to the filing room is clear and now seems like the perfect time to make your move. Pulling open the filing room door, the automatic lights overhead illuminate the rows of filing cabinets, and it doesn’t take you long to locate the ‘L’ section.
The Leclerc folder is thick from decades’ worth of business that Hunt & Lauda has handled for them, but the newest forms signed by Charles Leclerc, III, sit on the very top. Now, they bear the official embossed seals of authenticity, and you start reading through the rows of printed legal agreements. None of it looks unordinary. None of it looks unique. None of it looks like… some finer point that Padros would need to handle personally.
His words make even less sense now. Putting the paperwork back, you leave the filing room behind and return to your desk. A dull ache throbs in the back of your skull, and you power down your laptop. You don’t know if the main lobby is still a media circus, but you bypass it entirely and head straight down to the parking garage.
Your heels clack off the concrete, approaching your car as a yawn hinges your jaw and pinches  your eyes closed.
When you slowly open them, your heart stops at the sight of a man suddenly standing between you and your car.

“You lack finesse,” Sebastian’s voice carries over the rush of blood in Charles’ ears. “But you have remarkable control.”
Charles swallows the last mouthful of invigorating elixir, feeling the warmth of the man’s blood mix with the ice in his veins. It surges through him with a vitality that transcends everything he thought he knew about being alive. But now he understands just how naive he was. How naive the rest of the human race truly is.
The human in his grasp falls limp from blood loss, but Charles has no intention of killing this one. Just because he needed a snack doesn’t mean this man has to die. Sebastian made that clear from the beginning.
Once the red fog of bloodlust passed and Charles adapted to his newfound senses, Sebastian started to teach him so much. And proves to be the most curious person that Charles has ever known, his nationality notwithstanding.
At first, hearing those German syllables rankled him. How could it not when Hitler was hell bent on Germany conquering all of Europe?
“That’s where you couldn’t be more wrong.” Sebastian countered, staring him down as fire blazed in his icy eyes. “One man does not speak for a whole nation, and my countrymen are severely misguided for their belief in such a notion. It would appear that humanity has learned no lessons since the Great War and remain more focused than ever on their self-destruction.”
“Then, why are you here?” Charles asked. “The Allies are fleeing the continent, and Hitler’s forces are conquering everything in their path. So, why are you right in the middle of it?”
Sebastian’s mouth curled with an enigmatic gleam. “War evolves as humanity advances and supposedly betters itself. And war creates opportunity. We just have to find it here, but it does wait for us.”
Charles shook his head against the pillow, letting himself sink further into the plush, downy mattress. “You say ‘we’... but why me? You… could have chosen anyone. You could have given me the choice to willingly…”
“It’s not something that one can explain.” Sebastian coolly dismissed as he pressed up against Charles’ side. “Knowing what you know now, would you choose to remain mortal?”
“Would you?”
Sebastian’s eyes gleamed with mischief. “And miss out on the last 592 years? Miss out on meeting you?” He leaned close, brushing kisses along the slope of Charles’ throat. “Never, schatz.”
A delicious shiver raced down Charles’ spine and his spent cock twitched with renewed interest. As a mortal, he never had stamina like this… nor did he ever dare to indulge such taboo proclivities so brazenly.
With a nip on Charles’ collarbone, Sebastian continued. “As for your other question…” he paused to press a kiss over a sensitive nipple. “Do I really need to stroke your ego again?”
A drunken smile came to Charles’ face as Sebastian’s fingers danced along the curve of his hip. “But I do so like having my ego stroked,” Charles teased, gasping as Sebastian finally cups his burgeoning erection. “Among other things…”
Charles lost the ability to blush when his heart stopped pumping blood, but the memory still triggers a lingering sense of embarrassed modesty. Seb keeps telling him that those notions will fade with the centuries - that eventually Charles will realize that so much of the inner-conflict he experienced as a mortal serves no purpose and has no bearing on the meaning of one’s existence.
Even now, it's still a lot to take in.
He loosens his grip on the soldier’s uniform, lowering the slumping man down to the ground. They’re somewhere in Poland, largely untouchable by the war-waging mortals around them (unless a bomb lands on top of them) and largely unnoticed in the chaos as they move around the continent.
It’s strange in so many ways, and yet… if the world must be embroiled in global warfare and if Charles must now experience it as an immortal bloodsucker of legend and myth, then maybe this isn’t too bad.
Approval glints in Seb’s eyes. “I do mean it,” he continues. “For one so young, you have excellent control of your thirst.”
“Did you not?”
“Goodness, no.” Seb shakes his head as they continue down the street. “My master scolded me all the time for it. I left more bodies in my wake than I probably should have… but in hindsight, those were far more merciful deaths than leaving them to perish from the Black Death.”
Charles struggles to recall the finer points of his history lessons. “That was the bubonic plague, no? The first time it swept through Europe, taking almost half the population with it.”
“Yes. Centuries of progress and growth just grinding to a halt. Dark days as illness held sway, endemic warfare ran rampant, and the unity of the Catholic Church shattered.” A sigh sounds in Sebastian's words. “At the time, though, life didn’t seem quite so bleak. How could it when you have nothing else to compare it to? I suppose that’s one advantage to being what we are now - stewards of humanity’s legacy, eternal historians among those destined to create it.”
Charles glances over with a bemused smirk as they round a corner. “You’re oddly poetic, you know.”
“How dare you.” Sebastian glares over in mock-indignation. “The Italian Renaissance was absolute torture. Give me the Age of Reason any day.”
Laughter bubbles in Charles’ throat but it quickly dies as a squad of Nazi soldiers march onto the street ahead. They file out of the half-bombed cathedral, arms laden with golden and glittering relics. Looting has always been the privilege of the victorious, but this war is far from over.
A primal growl stirs in Sebastian’s chest and he leaps into action before Charles can blink. That’s also something Seb has reassured him about - that Charles' lingering respect for life will fade. After all, without the prospect of damnation, why should Charles worry about stains upon his soul?
The soldiers don’t stand a chance against Sebastian’s speed or strength. Necks snap and bodies drop to the ground with dull thuds. He doesn’t even need to bare his fangs to finish them off and by the time Charles strolls up the stoop steps, Sebastian is already rummaging through the looted goods.
“Don’t tell me that you killed them just to take the spoils for yourself?” Charles asks even as he is unable to resist looking over the admittedly impressive collection of wealth strewn amongst the carnage.
“Religious relics hold little interest for me, but they do not belong as spoils of an army who have so little respect for life and tolerance of religion.”
Charles nods gently, stepping over to a large, folded panel. Crouching down, he unfolds the first pane, and his mouth drops open at the sight. “Mamma mia….” He hisses under his breath as he unfolds the remaining panels and stares down at the revealed masterpiece. “It’s a van Eyck…”
“What is that?” Sebastian steps around to study the painting.
“It’s a Jan van Eyck painting - his signature and motto are unmistakable since he’s the only one of his time to sign his work.” Charles raises a hand, skimming over various aspects of the painting. “And his blending of the spiritual and material worlds through symbolism is all here.”
“How do you know all this?”
A wistful sigh escapes him. “I wanted to study art at university, but my father said that wasn’t a suitable degree - but in my spare time, I attended every lecture that I could and painted just….” He trails off, shaking his head, still stunned as he stares at the painting. “This is a classic and must be worth a fortune… I can’t believe it was almost destroyed..”
“We don’t know if they were going to destroy it.” Sebastian’s near-silent footsteps sound behind him. “Perhaps they were taking it for themselves-”
Heavy footfalls echo inside the church and Charles glances up just in time to see a German officer step out onto the stoop. Above his crisp uniform, his face holds a heavy frown as he glowers at Charles and Sebastian.
“Hände hoch!” He bellows, reaching for his sidearm.
“Nein,” Sebastian holds a hand up as he strides forward. “Schau mich an… schau mich an…”
The officer’s face falls slack as he succumbs to Sebastian’s thrall, and a stab of envy shoots through Charles. Seb makes it look so easy, but he has also reassured Charles multiple times that it will come more naturally to him as time passes. There’s just so much Charles has yet to learn.
Fortunately for him, Sebastian is a master.
A low conversation in German occurs, and for all of Charles’ trilingual skills, German isn’t among his repertoire. Instead, he turns his attention back to the painting, still marveling at what he’s seeing, even as it lays so pristine on the battered ground.
"They're under orders," Sebastian suddenly says. "Direct from the Führer himself. Acquisition of all cultural artifacts for the glory of the Nazi regime."
The words drop like rocks in Charles' stomach as they echo in his mind. "What on earth will he do with all that art? He can't possibly hope to sell it all…?" He stands up, glancing back over at Sebastian just in time to watch him soundlessly drop the officer. "Maybe he'll ransom it, or worse…"
"Somehow, I very much doubt that he wants all this artwork for his bedroom." Sebastian agrees as he draws back up to Charles' side. "But whether he means to ransom it back or privately sell it, cash flow like that would energize his war machine beyond comprehension." He pauses in a moment of contemplation before an impish smile brightens his face. "Like I said, war creates opportunity, and my dear Charles," his hand falls to Charles'shoulder with the heavy weight of approval. "I think we may have just found our opportunity."

The Many Boyfriends of Daniel Ricciardo
<< Prev ||| Next >>
Chapter 2: Who Does He Think He Is?
Everyone knew that Daniel loved all things American.
You just had to spend a few minutes with him and you'd realize that the Australian was absolutely, undeniably charmed by the United States. Though his affections were specifically focused on Texas and cowboys, he did appreciate other things as well.
Like football.
Daniel loved football. He may not fully understand all the intricacies of the sport or the vast history, but he did love it.
All the other drivers knew just how much Daniel loved American football and how many times during race weekends, he could be seen watching a game or telling Blake to record it for him to watch later.
None of them expected a football player to actually encroach on Daniel's inner circle. To carve out a space for his rather large self in Daniel's close-knit group of lovers. Making room for Scotty had been easy, but Josh Allen? No, they did not like it one bit.
Despite Max's best efforts of keeping Daniel in Monaco in their shared apartment building or Lando's efforts in keeping Daniel in Woking, Daniel ends up in Buffalo, New York (a place that most of the drivers didn't even know was a real place).
From there on, it's just bit by bit of realizing that they would have to deal with the American for more than just a little bit like it typically was with Daniel's LA friends.
Max should be happy, basking in Daniel's company and delighting at the sight of the crop top that the McLaren media team had gotten Daniel to wear, but instead, he was grumbling about a big, burly American football player manhandling Daniel all around the paddock as if he was the only one to have Daniel's attention.
"Who does he think he is?" Max grumbles as he talks to Charles. They’d all seen how this Josh Allen never left Daniel’s side and looked like some lovesick fool. (They all also chose to completely ignore that they looked like that when Daniel’s undivided attention was on them.)
"Does he not know that Daniel is taken?" Charles questions in response, his eyes narrowed as he watches this so-called football player catch popcorn in his mouth that Daniel was throwing. Charles could do that too, why did Daniel need someone new when the rest of them were so good at catching things in their mouth.
In another part of the paddock, Lewis and George were watching the same scene with the same annoyance. "I hope that your team beats his team," George says. He doesn't know a lick of American Football, but he does know that he doesn't want the latest entry on the list of boyfriends to win.
"I want that too, but he's annoyingly good," Lewis mutters. "Maybe we should set an F1 curse on them or something," he says. Lewis only partly considers how influential Nico's selfie curse would be on football outcomes.
In his opinion, Lando thinks he has it the worst. Sharing a garage and a wall between drivers' rooms meant that he got to hear and see everything. And a guy like Josh Allen was intimidating, to say the least, so he couldn't even do something about it.
He rolls his eyes when he sees this Josh guy pick up and twirl Daniel in the garage. Sure, he couldn't do that, but he could do other things. Lando's sure he's more flexible than the hulk-like man Daniel seems to want in his bed after the race is over. He's not as flexible as Lewis, but he is much more flexible than Max and George, and definitely more flexible than the American.

The FIA F1 entry list for the 2024 championship still shows the team’s name as Scuderia Alpha Tauri while the Alfa Romeo team has been rebranded to Stake F1 Team Kick Sauber.
It is very likely at this point for the new name reveal to happen in February at the livery reveal. The question remains if the team is allowed to change the name after the official entry list has been published.

Macau GP 70th Anniversary
YOU. YEAH YOU READING THIS. This is me trying to pursued you to go watch the Macau GP this weekend. This track is historic and legendary. And one of the most fun and dangerous street circuits (imo) with tight corners and varying elevations. It is still the oldest (active) street circuit that still holds F3 (+other races) and isn't part of the F1 World Championship (the other being New Zealand🤝)
Since it’s the 70th anniversary and they are holding two wholeass race weekends with a BANGER entry list this year (full list at the end of the post), so why not take a trip down memory lane and talk about some iconic races and drivers throughout the years. [LONG POST, just saying][Also, surprises underneath]
Macau Grand Prix, Guia Circuit (or Circuito da Guia)—a circuit that spans 6.120km, with different elevations over 30 meters top to bottom (in non-metric terms: 2 small pine trees, or 2 volleyball courts for all non-metric people out there👍). Top speed: 260km/h for an F3 car, which is already a handful. This circuit has had little to no changes since the beginning of its grand opening. While this track serves as a stepping stone for drivers, it remains an independent circuit and race of its own. Though still having an affiliate with the FIA.
Although the first race event began in 1954, they didn’t introduce F3 until 1983. Which they had a strong start for F3 with the likes of Ayrton Senna and Gerhard Berger, respectively taking first and third place.
youtube
A few years later; Eddie Irvine, Damon Hill, Jean Alesi also left their marks on this race track.
But the most iconic moment came in 1990. The battle of Schumacher vs Hakkinen. The beginning of their motor rivalry.
youtube
Schumi took first place while Mika unfortunately crashed out at the back of Schumi’s car.
Jenson Button (a literal child) in 1999, second place. God works hard but those mechanics work even harder
youtube
In 2003-2004, both Lewis and Nico took part, whilst Lewis took pole and they both showed great results in qualifying. Neither of them went on to podium in both years.
2005: baby Seb starting to shine through and took third at the main race, just behind Kubica
youtube
They put a baby in a fast car
2009: Daniel, Valtteri, and Jules took the challenge. Jules started near the back end of the grid but was steady racing and finished 10th. Valtteri started 4th, had the opportunity to be on podium until he got a puncture on the last lap that saw him finish fifth. Daniel-not the best start- clipped the wall and punctured his left rear, carried on a little bit more until he crashed out of the race :( can’t find any video cuz apparently no one cared enough about 2009
2011: Valtteri’s third year in a row; the previous got him third place but this one he retired the car on lap 4 due to an accident. Kmag, da Costa, Carlos participated but all in all, half the grid retired in the end.
youtube
Pre-mustache Bottas and baby redbull Carlos
Bloop! 2014: a wild baby Max appears! Boy had good results in qualifying, placing him third, but in the quali race he lost control and crashed. Main race-7th. Nick Cassidy, Nicki Latifi, Antonio Giovinazzi, Alex Palou finished 3rd, 5th, 12th and 16th. Unfortunately, Antonio Fuoco and Estie Bestie retired :(
youtube
Yes, Max did get the fastest lap
2015: Everybody’s favourite! Charles Leclerc has entered the ring. Charlie’s aggressive attack led him to second place and on that podium. Giovinazzi-4th, Lance Stroll-8th, Nick Cassidy-12th and following close behind, my boy, Alexander Albon-13th
youtube
The race was that good even FIA had to post it on their channel lol
youtube
The infamous onboard camera
2016: we see the introduction of George Russell, Landon Norris, Callum Ilott, Guanyu Zhou and Ticktum (But we’re not gonna talk about him🤭). It was an okay race, António Félix da Costa took first (came 9th in the recent WEC👏) and Nikita crashed.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
That year gave us baby Lando and baby George who took his first pole *surprise🎉*
2017: A fucking great racing year, Lando came second due to Habsburg and Sette Câmara crashing out in the final corner. It’s Mick’s first year, though not the best result but did manage to snatch the fastest lap 💨
youtube
2018: it was a scary ass race and I remember standing in front of the TV just watching this. Lisboa corner is famously know for a lot of accidents, Sophia Flörsch made contact with another that send her airborne and crashed into the barriers and fractured her vertebrae. Final standing: Mick-5th, Ilott-7th, Schwartzman-9th, Zhou-11th, Vesti-15th
I’m not gonna post the video, you can go look it up if you’re interested
2019: a lot more familiar faces: Richard Verschoor, Jüri Vips (yeah that one), Logan Sargeant, Callum Ilott came back for another year, Liam Lawson with his bestie Yuki Tsunoda, Enzo Fittipaldi, Max Fewtrell🫡, David Schumacher, Felipe Drugovich, Schwartzman’s second attempt and Sophia Flörsch
youtube
3 years of absence and we are back! 2023!
This year there’s two whole weekends, from 11-12th November and 16-19th November. And they’ve a banger list of drivers like Bianca Bustamante for F4 and Richard Verschoor taking another stab at it.
Macau F4 race is happening on the 11-12th:
Tumblr media
F4 is happening the week after on 16-19th
Tumblr media
The FIA is streaming F3 on the YouTube channel (streaming f3 not f4🥲…go watch motor gp too it’s on the same day) but you could probably watch it on other streaming platforms too (you know the ones👀👀)
If you haven’t seen the Macau GP before…give it a go! It’s brilliant!
*side note: if Fernando or Lewis ever retires from f1 and have nothing else to do…I’d like to see them tackle this track (again for Lewis) maybe not f3, maybe something like GT cup or something. It would be verrrry interesting👀

I just saw that you were at the Aus GP! How was it for you?!
how was it for me!!!! it was top 5 weekends of my life!!! which is saying something bc I've been lucky enough to do some incredible things in my 26 years!!!
some highlights, in no particular order:
Max DNFing - big sorry to Max, but the crowd went a little crazy. to be fair to us all, we had no idea how serious it actually was. ily Max, but I fully expected to see a Max win and then not getting that was so shocking that it was fun. we were right by turn 13 + 14 so could also see the pit entry, and I do have footage of his car smoking and going in to the pit soooo
Hamilton DNFing - we didn't see this happen in front of our eyes like Max, HOWEVER, because of where we were sitting, his recovery bike drove straight past us to go into the paddock, so I can now say that I've been within two metres of seven time world champion Lewis Hamilton. he was quite small lol
fan stage appearances! I went on day 2 so saw ferrari, red bull, and Mercedes back to back!!!! it was nuts. Charles and Carlos by far had the best camaraderie, and Max was more engaged than you'd expect from somebody who still clearly didn't want to be there haha. Lewis and George were lovely, they were the only ones who didn't sit on the lounge and instead stood the whole time, and specifically said it was so people at the back could see them. I also saw Haas (Nico didn't show up though?) and Kmag was quite sweet. Also saw Alpine, and Pierre showed up late and then didn't answer a single question lmao.
this will mean less to people, but all the support series were so great as well. we had f3, f2, supercars, and the porsche carreras, and all of those races were way more intense than f1. during the f2 sprint race on Saturday, we also saw Antonelli and Verschoor crash right in front of us, and Verschoor came through the same path as Lewis did on Sunday, so we got to see him walk past, helmet in hand, all sad and dejected.
anyway I'll stop there otherwise this list will turn into a "everything that happened" list rather than a highlights reel haha. so I'll leave you with a photo of my new prized possession!
Tumblr media
(yes that really is CHARLES LECLERC'S signature, but no I didn't obtain it in person)
and here is a fun video of Charles from FP2, when we were within ten fucking metres of the cars zooming by:
