About the next edition...
We'll need MODS!
As some of you know, there were only three lovely editors for the 2023 edition, Talon, Victor, and Pepin, and we did it all on our own. Some of us were graduating, all of us got full-time jobs, and we can all agree that three of us WEREN'T ENOUGH!
So we won't make the same mistake this time! There's no way we'll be capable of running the zine again without far more support. Note that just because you're a mod, doesn't mean you can't have your work in the zine! All three of us had our work in the 2023 edition (but it isn't required, although it has to fit the theme).
So we need more mods!
The primary editor will remain Talon, for this next (potential) edition at least. Victor and Pepin will continue to have contributions as well. However we have several other positions that will need to be filled. Below we'll list them and give a short description.
If you are interested, please fill out this form! (Please keep in mind the time you will have to dedicate to this project if you are a mod. If you cannot reasonably dedicate that time, please reconsider.) If you're not interested, please reblog!! Descriptions under the cut.
The Tumblr Mod: You'll be in charge of running the tumblr, creating posts, using Canva, putting out announcements, tagging posts properly, and potentially sending emails. This is great for a creative, schedule-oriented individual. This is so that the tumblr doesn't go for large swaths of time without a single post, as it did for the 2023 edition. You will be in charge of the email primarily and any messages will go through you.
The Twitter Mod: You will work closely with the Tumblr mod. You'll be solely in charge of expanding our online presence to include twitter, so the fans over there have a chance to explore the wonders of our zine. Ideal for someone who knows twitter, is a great collaborator, and will be able to post regularly.
The Timeline Master: You'll be in charge of keeping track of the zine timeline and updating it as needed. You'll work closely with the Tumblr Mod to schedule posts. Your most important job will be ensuring ALL of our contributors provide each of their progress checks and recording those progress checks. This will be good for a person who wants to participate but has limited time. It will be most busy at the very beginning (setting up the timeline) and during the progress checks (anticipate 3, the 4th being the final delivery).
The Economics Professor: You'll be in charge of all monetary calculations. We have some calculations already from the 2023 edition, but we want to improve them. You'll also look in to other potential printing services for cheaper OR better quality options. You'll work with the Tumblr Mod to put out interest check polls to refine the calculations as much as possible. You'll also be in charge of the money when we begin preorders (Talon will walk you through this process) and all orders (for proofs or actual products) will go through you. This is great for someone with a numbers-oriented mind with a bit more free time on their hands.
The Copy Editor: You'll work closely with the primary editor(s), including Talon, for creation of the final product. You will look for grammatical errors, ensure all stylistic choices are the same throughout the document (no font errors, no extra spaces, etc.), and ensure all contributor pieces are actually included in the document. This is for a detail-oriented English mind. You will contribute to the contributor selection process (as will all of the editors) and work with contributors to refine their ideas and ensure they meet the theme.
The Mail Room(s): Ideally, this is two or more people who live close to/with each other who will be able to process the orders we receive and mail them out using our mail platform (Talon will walk you through this). This will be BUSY only once we have received the zines. It is the MOST IMPORTANT job. It is best for people who are careful and detail oriented, and have a great deal of free time (and a fair amount of space for boxes). You'll work closely with the Economics Professor.
The Go-To Guy: A jack-of-all-trades, mini-Talon. This person will help ensure all aspects of the zine are running smoothly, communication between editors, fans, and contributors is accurate and swift, and troubleshoot any problems which may arise. There may be two of this position. It is busiest in spurts (especially around events or progress checks). Ideal for someone who is personable and good at problem solving.

Meet new sewing pattern <Kanoko> Tote bag set
Meet the new item from Waffle Patterns Tote bag set <Kanoko> sewing pattern. This is a fun and functional tote bag 3 sisters set with many pockets. All sizes are perfect for daily use. Please make your favourite size with your favourite fabric. Those can be made with a relatively small amount of fabric, so, it is also nice to use your leftover fabrics from your stash.
Tumblr media
<design options>
3 sizes are available; L - grocery size, M - commuter size, and S - accessory size. The grocery size is quite large and enough for supermarket or fabric shopping. The commuter size is suitable for daily use and the size for about 10″ iPad and other small things like a make-up pouch, wallet, or snacks. The accessory size is a very cute mini size for small staffs like a lip balm or candy.
L and M are basically the same design. Both have large 3D-shaped pockets on the front, side pockets with pleats, and a small pocket on the back. There are 2 kinds of functional inside pockets, too. There are 2 options for the opening. The L size sample shows magnet fastener + strap + side release buckle opening. The M sample features a zipper opening. You can add a shoulder strap on M size.
S size has also front/back and side pockets and a very small inside pocket. The closure is a magnet/snap fastener and an inside closure with tape+button.
Tumblr media
<fabric recommendation>
The pattern is drafted for woven fabrics. Mid-heavy weight woven durable fabrics are suitable. like duck, twill, denim, linen, canvas or décor weight fabric etc. I think waxed fabrics or water repellent outdoor fabrics are great options, too. For the lining, plain cotton or linen will be a good option.
Depending on your fabric and your design intention, please consider using additional interfacing on the bag panels for adding extra strength or body.
Here are my sample’s materials.
The shell fabric of smoky pink samples is mixed twill. I wanted to add body on M size, so I used woven mid weight interfacing on bag panels. For L size, I only use interfacing on the facing parts to keep it light weight. I also made a sample of M size with mid weight denim + fusible fleece combo for stable shape.
The red and yellow plaid set are made with wool coating. Those are all leftover of my winter projects. I used woven interfacing on the panels on the M size. The lining is plain cotton.
Again, please consider the material combination depending on your fabric and design intention.
Tumblr media
<other materials>
The samples are using 30mm~40mm webbing for the handles and straps. If you cannot find perfect colour or width, making those with contrast fabrics are the option.
I used the shoulder strap from ready made bags, but you can make them by yourself, too.
For additional strength, I added the plastic plates on the base of M and S size. The special materials for the bag base are sold at notion stores, but I used plastic plate cutting from old clear files and ice cream package.
Please choose suitable materials/parts for your design and shell fabrics. I strongly recommend checking actual material samples as much as possible and experimenting your fabrics before start the project.
Tumblr media
<other>
For smoky pink samples, I used twill tape on the pocket opening of side and back pockets for strengthen and as a design accent. It is also good option if your fabric is too stiff or thick.

Ok, the poll isn't completely closed yet but looks like there's at least 30 people among my followers and followers-in-law who'd be interested in putting their doodles in the Doodle Zine! I think I can safely assume that that's a lower bound, and if/when I make an actual submissions post it will spread farther and probably get more interest.
Which is a pretty substantial number of submissions to expect! So, time for a logistics question.
I want this to be a zine that people can print out and hold in their hands. There are a couple different formats I have in mind for this, and they both have benefits and drawbacks.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
X-book - This is the traditional mini-zine format. It's one sheet of letter paper, folded into eighths and with a slit cut into the middle. Not counting the front and back cover, there are 6 pages, each 1/8 of a sheet of paper
Benefits: These are really simple to make--one sheet of paper, printed on only one side, and some scissors. No staples required. They're also a very nice pocket-size.
Drawbacks: There's only room in one of these for 6 people's doodles. If I get too many submissions for one zine, I'll happily just make this a series of zines--but with this format it would likely become a lot of zines pretty quickly.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Pamphlet - This is a pamphlet, meaning it's a stack of sheets folded in half (it would be stapled or sewn at the spine to secure them together, although this example isn't). In this case, the sheets are each half a sheet of letter paper, so each page of the zine is 1/4 of a sheet.
Benefits: This can have as many pages as you can reasonably fold together, which leaves a lot more room for a larger collection of doodles. (This one is made from eight half-sheets of paper, which gives us 30 pages plus cover.) The pages are also larger, so there's a bigger canvas to doodle on.
Drawbacks: These ones are a bit more work to put together. They need to be printed on both sides, cut in half, stacked in the right order, folded, and stapled (or sewn, if you're fancy). They're also just slightly too big to fit in a regular-sized stapler, which can be annoying (you can make it work but it's not perfect).
Secret other options - I personally really like the half-sheet size of pamphlet, but you can do this with any size of paper. We could do quarter-sheet pamphlets (mini-zine sized) or full sheet pamphlets (concert program sized). Smaller ones would be easier to staple, large ones would be harder. Otherwise the main difference is just how much space there is to draw & how much paper it uses.
So, the question is: Lots of little zines or fewer big zines? And is it worth the extra effort to put a pamphlet together so that more doodles can be included in one volume, or not?

How to Create a Vision Board and Achieve your Goals✨
Tumblr media
Everyone has dreams and goals, but while trying to achieve them, it’s easy to get unmotivated, especially if you reach challenges and road blocks. Thankfully, there are many ways to stay motivated when chasing your dreams. One of these ways is by creating and using a vision board.
What is a Vision Board?
A vision board is a board where you place your ‘visions’ or goals for the future. It’s a creative way to create a visual reminder of your dreams and desires. When it comes to creating a vision board, you can attach pictures, drawings or anything else that makes you feel good. By cutting out pictures of what you wish to achieve and sticking them on your board, you set a visual reminder to get you motivated to go after what you want.
When it comes to creating a vision board, you can make it however you want. Some people prefer to create large vision boards to hang on their walls while others prefer smaller ones that they can carry around with them throughout their day. You can even create one online if you’d rather keep it on you digitally.
Whatever you decide to do, it’s often helpful to place your vision board in a place where you can see it daily, as it’s meant to be used as a daily reminder.
How does it work?
A vision board works by bringing your attention and focus to your desires. By focusing on your goals, you feel more motivated to achieve them and manifest them into your life. By visiting your vision board, your mind begins to work in finding ways and opportunities to achieve these goals and desires.
Why You Should Create a Vision Board
Having a physical vision of your desires helps you to stay motivated in achieving your goals.
Creating a vision board helps you to create plans and focus on opportunities which may appear in your life.
Having a vision board helps you to organize all your goals and desires in one place.
Having a vision board gives you a tangible vision of your goals. It’s easy to feel as though your dreams are far away or imaginary when they’re only in your head. By creating a physical vision of what you want, you’re more likely to feel that they’re achievable.
How to Create a Vision Board
The great thing about vision boards is that you can create it in any way you want. Because it is a creative practice, there is no right or wrong way to go about doing it, but if you need a little bit of inspiration, here are a few ways you could go about creating your very own vision board.
Get a Board
To create a vision board, you first need a board.
Corkboard. This is great for pinning up pictures and other objects onto the board without having to glue them down. If you decide to switch something out, you can also re-pin something rather than having to go through the hassle of ungluing or cutting something out.
Cardboard. If you don’t have a corkboard, no worries! You can use a slab of cardboard and decorate it in colorful sheets of paper.
Notebook or sketchbook. Pick out a colorful or inspiring notebook and use it as a creative canvas for your vision board. It doesn’t really matter what ‘board’ you have for your vision, as long as it’s something you can attach photos and objects that remind you of your desires.
Photos or Pictures
Once you have your board, you’re going to need to print or cut out pictures or photos of what it is you want to manifest into your life. It’s important to feel good when you look at these photos and view them as something you can achieve.
Supplies
Pictures
Cutouts
Scissors
Glue
Pen and paper
Craft supplies (Markers, colors, paint, etc.)
Extras
This is the part where you can get creative and decorate your board with anything else you’d like. This isn’t necessary for a vision board, but it’s a fun way to personalize your board. By personalizing your vision board, you feel more connected to it and enjoy looking at it more, which is helpful in encouraging you to go after your goals.
What to decorate your board with
Quotes
Clippings
Drawings
Souvenirs
Stickers
Now that you have all your supplies ready, it’s time to begin assembling your vision board!
If you're interested in reading the full post, check it out on my official blog!
Happy Manifesting!🥰

Postage & Packaging Prices for 2023
Over the last few months, we have been working on updates to our Postage & Packaging prices following our own supplier's revised prices. In March, we updated our costs for Print Only orders to the UK and International destinations. At the same time, we created a new set of size brackets, introducing a new Extra Large group for prints larger than A0 (1188 x 841mm); prints larger than this are too big to be sent by mail and therefore need to be sent by a courier service with higher costs.
Last week we completed our update by revising our Postage & Packaging costs for orders with additional finishing options, from prints that are Flat Wrapped or Window Mounted all the way up to our Substrate Mounting, Bespoke Frames and Stretched Canvases.
Our delivery costs for these orders also got a new set of size brackets, taking inspiration from those created for our Print Only orders. We now have Small, Medium, Large and Extra Large for our two categories of Finished Prints; Flat Wrapped and Mounted Prints and Framed and Stretched Canvas Prints.
Tumblr media
Here is a graphic to show you all the sizes featured in our Postage & Packaging size breaks. There's more information about this in our Knowledge Base here.
You can find our full and updated price list for Postage & Packaging on our website here.

A Blank Canvas appears, wearing a gray mask with painted-on sunglasses. It looks like it’s been in a rainstorm, given how wet it appeared. It drops the presents onto the ground before lifting its hand up as if asking for payment - or food.
Chi’s gift comes in the form of an orange tabby cat mascot head. The cat jaw unhinges to reveal a translucent orange plastic banner propelled by a small handheld fan to mimic a jet of flame. A suspiciously empty cylindrical indentation within the base of the jaw suggests that this might’ve not been the first idea that came to Chi’s mind. A second fan in the back helps provide ventilation to the mascot head while Kris’s magic tag - labeled as such - provides unimpeded vision while wearing the head.
Lev’s gift comes in the form of a large brown cartoon cat plushie. It has a cocky look to it as if to exclaim “bring it on.” The fabric used is similar to denim as if the maker expected the poor thing to get mauled. It’s surprisingly okay-looking for one of Lev’s plushies, though the innate fluffiness of the plushiness is likely hiding most of her sewing mistakes.
Rounding out the gifts is a roll of duck-shaped stickers and a 10-stack of 6″ steel ingots. An attached note says the following: “Happy holidays from me and Lils. Yeah, if you’re wondering about the weird indentation in Lils’s present, she did rig a lighter and aerosol set-up to make a small flamethrower - problem is the head won’t survive more than 2 or 3 uses without getting melted. Anyway, here are the duck-shaped stickers that will make someone think they’re a duck for a period of time - since I have a Blank Canvas willing to take stuff along for now, I figured I could send them over now. As for the metal ingots, they’re a bunch of steel ingots with an odd effect. They ignite into flames if you hit them hard enough or infuse with magic - thing is the flames don’t actually get hot or burn anything, so it’s purely for aesthetic purposes. The color of the flame can be changed by burning the ingot for several minutes in a flame whose color matches what you want. Otherwise, the metal ingot behaves like steel for the most part, just with a higher melting point. I sadly don’t really have the equipment to test how high though. In any case, you could probably use this a lot better than I can. Happy holidays!”
Jack answers the door in what could, in social circles, be called a pladpocalypse. The outfit is almost as loud as her footsteps, with a white and mint-green and bright red jumper pointlessly under a pair of christmas-tree-print shorts, and of course an ugly christmas sweater - with the sleeves flexed off, of course. Atop the sweater's criss-cross of peppermint colours was a knitted robotic santa with a machine gun, yelling 'Now I have a machine gun! Ho ho ho!'
Keeping with her almost brutish display of christmas decorum, she also has an entire rib of beef in her hand, looking confused and unapologetic about the half-chewed mouthful she didn't even finish before answering. A glance at the outstretched hand, then at her rib, then at her hand... aw, hell, she had three more in the kitchen, the funky little guy could have her montreal smoked meat treat. Wiping her hand on the doorframe, she takes the packages with a puzzled look, which then splits into excitement once she feels the sheer weight of the packages.
"Well, hey, little dude, happy holidays to you, too! Stay warm out there, alright?"
There's a childish eagerness in her bright orange eyes as she considers tazmanian-tearing into these assorted boxes, but she found some restraint. There's a cooing of adoration as she gets to the plush - this was absolutely going on the bed with the chubbier and gentler of her two cats, misses squish surely wouldn't harm a fellow fluffball like this. Her eyes utterly miss any imperfection for the fact she was getting something so kindly hand-made, and there was a tinge of guilt she hadn't done any alchemizing or crafting for anyone extra-planar this year.
That tinge of guilt went away immediately upon discovery of the duck stickers - Andre was gonna love these, for sure, or at very least love the idea behind them - and then she got to the ingots. Oh, crap, that's right, she used to brag about blacksmithing! Except... well, she wasn't good at the metallurgy side of things. These were very, very cool though, and she made a mental note to brush back up on her forging to try and turn these into some extremely cool pauldrons, bracers or other such armour.
The helmet comes last of all, and Jack tosses it around in her hands a few times, getting an idea for the heft and weight of it. It was definitely cute and quaint - maybe she was leaning a little too hard on her catposting online? Or not hard enough, it was never easy to tell. Still, something ventilated and hard to shatter would always be handy out in the field, and she pops it into her hash modus for later use.
Man, now she'd have to write a really solid thank-you note for all this, these are great.
