so on the subject of the "Crowley is secretly Revaan/Laverne/Levin/please Twst give us his name" theory, I think my feelings are best summed up as "I don't really buy it, but it's funny". like, in all seriousness, I'm not opposed to it; I have enjoyed the writing in Twst so far and I'm willing to trust that whatever happens will, you know, make sense and not be terrible. but I'm just not really convinced by the current evidence! maybe that'll change once we learn more, we'll see!
with that said, may I propose a few alternate theories about the possible Crowley/Revaan connection:
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
#art#twisted wonderland#twisted wonderland spoilers#twisted wonderland episode 7 spoilers#twisted wonderland book 7 spoilers#on this installment of things nobody asked but i'm going to talk about anyway#disclaimer that this is mostly a joke please don't get mad at me#(legit no shade to anyone) (speculation is one of the fun things about an ongoing fandom and you never know what'll turn out to be true!)#more seriously i do think there may be some connection that just isn't clear yet#but the more little breadcrumbs we get about what revaan was like the more i think crowley just doesn't act like him#i adore crowley don't get me wrong#(yes he's a dipshit. this is a feature not a bug.)#but like.#not to harp on the scene about lilia's nrc invitation (i am absolutely going to harp on it)#i do not believe that crowley would go through the trash to fish out the pieces and put them back together and save them#just because it was lilia's. just because lilia might want it again someday.#crowley can ✨yasashii✨ all he wants but we know what he's like#and i REALLY do not believe that lilia wouldn't recognize him. i didn't believe it before and i extra don't believe it now.#then again i do tend to be incredibly off about speculation so! who knows! i will trust the writing for now!#i do 100% believe that meleanor would fall in love with the world's biggest dumbass and then double down super hard. that part tracks.#that said i have decided that ambrose being revaan is actually the funnier option just because it would make crowley SO mad#it wouldn't make sense for him to be mad about it and that would just make him madder

The ‘Guess the Build’ mini series is freaking great, I haven’t laughed that hard in a while xD
Love the consistency of Gem being the saving grace for a build, while Skizz (and at times Jimmy) being the downfall of a build

back in the Superwholock days there was this post getting passed around my corner of tumblr about "teflon writing vs velcro writing," ostensibly as a nutshell summary of why fandom reacted so differently to Steven Moffat and Russell T Davies as Doctor Who showrunners: slick and polished and easier to admire (when done well) or coolly assess its flaws (when botched) than to get a grip on or pull apart & tinker with, vs. messy and prickly and grippy and tinkering-friendly and prone to getting its hooks in you whether or not you ever wanted that
and that's very funny to look back on with the distance of hindsight, because to this day--a full decade after peak Superwholock--RTD-era Who and Kripke-era SPN remain THE most insane, crazymaking, irreversible-brain-damage-inducing, "compelling in the way where they make me INCREDIBLY ANGRY and ITCHY TO FIX THEM because i am so stupid-invested that they still have me by the balls, even when my engagement is just picking apart the frustrations of how and why they SUCK" turbo-examples of velcro writing i have ever encountered in my LIFE
hell, they aren't even so much like velcro as they're like snagging the folds of a lace circle skirt on a whole branch of actual cockleburs and trying to wash the shrapnel out with fucking gorilla glue
.....and then there's BBC Sherlock. which was neither velcro writing nor teflon writing but an elaborate many-year con, targeted at the EXACT kinds of people who maintain a secret good Supernatural that lives in their heads, whose one neat trick was to bait its marks into collectively hallucinating a brilliant show so that Steven Moffat and Mark Gatiss never had to put themselves to the trouble of writing one.

Wait, so is the school Violette’s about to go to a segregated school, especially since Abraham doesn’t know she’s mixed? Because if so then identity crisis incoming I guess 😫😥. I’ve been literally thinking about this since I saw the story post hours ago and finally worked up the courage to express my worries about Little Lottie (on anon of course).
Awww Nonny! If something is weighing on your mind always feel free to ask! I’m glad you worked up the courage to do so (even if it’s on anon 💕)
This is actually discussed in a few posts, but to give you an answer now: no, Violette will not be attending a segregated school. Although there were segregated schools in New Mexico in this period, Strangerville is not one of those. This is a purposeful choice influenced by the bounds of this story as well as the historical situation in this region of the state. If you’re interested in more background info I’ll leave it for y’all below the cut.
Also on the topic of your worries, we will be seeing Violette’s journey with her identity throughout her life. Even at an integrated school, she is in a unique position and as she grows older it’s something she becomes more and more aware of. But I appreciate your worry for our little heiress and again always feel free to reach out.
As discussed in this post, Strangerville is a figment of my imagination, but it was in-part inspired by the towns and locations throughout New Mexico where Black Americans moved throughout the 19th century as well as the Jim Crowe Era (Blackdom, New Mexico and African American History in New Mexico are both great books on this). Many of these settlers formed their own towns and communities, where others found success amidst established towns. Strangerville is meant to be one of these towns, and the Hines (our new characters) are an homage to this history.
Like much of the nation in this period, Black Americans in New Mexico faced segregation both formal and informal. As discussed in this post concerning interracial marriage, this was less extreme than in other parts of the country (and by this I should clarify that I mean legally, as the day to day situation and experience of people could look much different than what was legally permitted). This includes school segregation, which was legal but infrequently employed in New Mexico.
In 1924 the New Mexico State Legislature made it legal to establish segregated schools. However, the decision was left to the individual school districts, and the vast majority of segregated schools in New Mexico were established along the Texas border, which was a segregated state. As the Darlington-Duplanchiers are in the Northwestern part of the state, this was much less likely to happen. Further, most segregated schools were in places with large populations such as cities, while smaller regional locations (like Strangerville) continued to operate with integrated schools as they would have been pre-1924.
However it is also very necessary to note the fact that some school districts in New Mexico voted to have segregated schools for Mexican and/or Native children. As this is not a topic I have researched like the one above, I will abstain on speaking on it further, but it was an everyday reality in this part of the nation that worked in tangent with the segregation of black children in this period.
For the purposes of this story, all of the children in Strangerville attend one school and will continue to do so throughout the story. While this may be realistic for the black population in this region, it is perhaps more unlikely for Native children. Strangerville is meant to be located amongst Navajo land, so it is likely that many of these children would attend school on the reservations. However, I’m unsure how this intersects with personally owned native tracts and have chosen to give this particular fictional town one school. If anyone has insight into this I would be more than glad to hear from you!
Now all of this is not to say that the town is free from informal segregation or racism. It will not be as heavy of a theme as it was in the 1920s, as I purposefully conceived of Strangerville as a place with long history of integration and multi-ethnic history. However, we will still see some of this on a personal level, and especially insofar as Strangerville residents hold a distrust particularly for newcomers to their town.

things i said today during my shift completely out of context that were very coffee shop blues!eddie coded:
“why don’t we just pick our least favorite ocean and destroy it instead of saving them? we have seven of them anyways.”
“i don’t know man i think the vibes of the sharks in the atlantic are off”
“the prophecy told me if i get one more lavender matcha, i get to kill myself. it’s true.”
“no”
“the guy who said ‘welcome to chili’s’ is just welcoming everyone to a different chili’s now!”
some of these are funnier with context honestly

why is so much of sewing just tracing and cutting and tracing again q_q i see why people get projectors and use adobe illustrator now
#drawing up a design that i can easily pattern from my sloper: 😊#actually having to make the pattern by tracing and cutting ad infinitum: 😰#piecing together printer paper to get a big enough sheet of paper and doing this ten million times: 🥲😭#not to mention the IRONING.... prewashing the fabric and having to iron 8 yards of fabric???? excuse me????#and then distorting it as i iron bc it has a slight stretch and i got so tired i stopped being careful 2 yards in#and the way that you're supposed to press every seam... excuse me... am i just supposed to have my iron heated and on standby at all times#AND THE STEAM??? i just got stay tape the other day and thought it'd be a neat alternative to stay stitching#BUT IT NEEDS STEAM TO ACTIVATE (which okay makes sense) BUT long story short i'm too afraid to use the steam function#on my iron because none of us are sure if water should go back into a tank that's been in disuse for 30+ years#so instead i get this water spray pen and delicately spray down the length of each piece of stay tape#before i cover it with a piece of gauze and iron it. and then i have to iron it extra so all the water actually evaporates#oh and the spray pen holds as much water as half a pen so i have to walk to the kitchen every 10 sprays to refill it#and i have to do this for every curved edge on my pattern pieces#i mean the alternative is just stay stitching but then i would have to calibrate my settings for a single layer of fabric instead of double#which means i have to switch my needle out more and i'm still new enough that sometimes i install a needles wrong despite going through#all the same exact motions that i usually would. i'm LITERALLY suffering out here. anyway can't wait to sew or whatever#oh and did i mention i went to a sewing meetup recently? yeah...#everyone there bought like $30-$100/yard fabric and i was there awkwardly knowing i only buy like $12/yard fabric#honestly though i have the opposite problem people usually joke about. i find it So hard to find fabric i actually like#it needs to be the right fiber + right color + right pattern/texture + right weight + i have to know exactly what i'm going to make with it

i've determined that grimstone doing what amounts to assigning a completely established-aesthetics-ignoring fursona for demersa ends up being a boon, bc afterward, very few people aside those close to the situation ever realized that this particular big buff monster lady wreaking havoc (we do got a lot of them in this city) alongside grim was even demersa at all, so after all the hell she's been through in the arc, she gets to mercifully duck disproportionate backlash for a situation that was barely her fault but the general public would not possibly know the illuminating context, which would be humiliating for someone like her to have to discuss and deal with being forever public knowledge
