2023 Wrap Up
Tumblr media
Thank you for participating in any and all events this year. Please consider taking a few moments to fill out the end of year survey to gauge feedback on the events that took place this year and what to do for 2024. None of this would have been possible without your contributions to the fandom and dedication to making art, fics, and so much more.

The American Census Bureau is considering changes that would artificially decrease the number of disabled people in the US. We may be able to stop this.
According to this article from the Associated Press, the Census Bureau's proposed changes would align the way that the American Community Survey measures disability with international standards. They will be changing the way that some of the questions are worded, as well as changing the options for answers.
The problem is this: the questions about disability will ask if respondents if they have “no difficulty,” “some difficulty,” “a lot of difficulty” or “cannot do at all” with regard to things like hearing, seeing, ability to bathe or dress oneself, etc. Someone will only be counted as disabled if they answer "a lot of difficulty" or "cannot do at all." This excludes a lot of people. "During testing last year by the Census Bureau, the percentage of respondents who were defined as having a disability went from 13.9% using the current questions to 8.1% under the international standards. When the definition was expanded to also include “some difficulty,” it grew to 31.7%" (AP).
So what can we do? The Census Bureau is accepting public comment on the proposed changes until the end of the day on Tuesday, December 19th. Visit this link to submit your comments, and tell the Census Bureau why this change is a bad idea! Statistics show that at least 25% of Americans are disabled (CDC). We can't let the Census Bureau erase us.
Please share this widely, and submit your comments before the close of business on Tuesday, December 19th! I also highly encourage you to check out the Associate Press article linked above, since it does a good job of explaining the situation in more detail.

IMPORTANT - please reblog
The U.S. senate is conducting an outreach survey about pressing issues including ceasefire in gaza and funding for 🇮🇱
Please take time to fill out the survey and spread especially if you’re living in the U.S.
Tumblr media
note: (what is above was copied and pasted from this twt post)
something else, these questions are set up to be intentionally bias (you can see in the photo above) so please answer thoroughly and correctly!!
i don't trust the U.S government but taking this survey will give Congress an insight on peoples views on these events. As long as people are choosing the options that are opposed of being pro-Israel or bigoted i think it'll be fine (in theory)
here are two questions that are very misleading
Tumblr media
as you can see they are trying to paint china's government and immigrants in a bad picture, hopefully anyone who is reading this understands that
1) the U.S government is using China's government in a way to look like they steal Americans information but in reality they don't care about our privacy. if they did, Mark Zuckerberg (owner of Facebook) wouldn't have several cases of taking peoples data and selling it
also that banning TikTok is not because of peoples information, it's about the fact that U.S citizens have an easier access to learn things that the Government doesn't want them to know and spread (e.g. Israel colonizing and commiting genocide on the people of Palestine) there is even a video of a government official talking about this (if I can find it I'll come back and link it here)
2) calling immigrants violent (probably referring to middle eastern ppl and muslims) is a way to convince people to deport them, obviously being xenophobic, and other stuff
if you can understand that these questions are bigoted and quite loaded it should be easy to understand which option is morally right.
at the end of the survey they will ask you what topics you care about and what Congress should focus on. don't leave it empty.
say something like:
• call for a permanent cease-fire in Gaza
• stop the funding of the illegal occupation of Israel
• hold big tech American companies accountable for using unethical Congon cobalt to make electronic devices
• literally anything important
putting one of these in the box before submitting will highlight that people want the government to call for a permanent cease fire and to stop funding Israel and etc.
sorry, this was a lot, I didn't plan to write this much out but I thought it was important to add additional information to inform people about the situation. hopefully this made sense!!!

💞 Candy Heart Valentine Event Survey💞
Heyo everyone! I hope January is going well for you all! As we get closer to February the Candy Heart Event is starting soon (Jan 28!) This year I wanted to change things up and ask y'all for your thoughts on the prompts; which sentence starters you liked and which you wouldn't mind seeing replaced with new ones!
The form will be open until Jan 26, after that I'm closing it down and working on the official prompt sheet for then event. This is by no means mandatory- if y'all choose to fill out the survey I'd be incredibly grateful!
Thanks y'all and Happy Thursday!

Enter strategic customer profiling, a paradigm shift in market research that goes beyond demographics to incorporate psychographic data. Psychographics delve into the psychological and emotional aspects of consumer behavior, encompassing factors such as lifestyle, values, attitudes, and interests.
By incorporating psychographic data into customer profiling, businesses gain a more comprehensive understanding of their target audience. Instead of viewing consumers as mere demographic categories, they are seen as individuals with distinct personalities, preferences, and motivations.

Just to make sure, you guys realize that property damage =/= violence against human persons, right?
Violence is defined by intense, aggressive actions with the intent to hurt, intimidate, or kill a human person/animal. It revolves around living beings.
I'm unsure as to how property is defined as a living person.
Can you act aggressively against physical property? Yes.
Has property damage been used to intimidate people? Absolutely.
Is property damage violence against property? Well, we sure aren't intimidating the police station, so no.
Zephyr, what the fuck is your point then?
I mean it's wild as hell how many times protests against the institution "become violent" the moment property is damaged. The moment someone loots a CVS or damages a window it's "holy fuck how violent!"
No, that isn't violence, that's property damage, breaking and entering, arson, trespassing, etc.
Zephyr, why does it matter? The protestors are being aggressive, aren't they? Who cares if we call them violent!
When covering protests and civil disobedience, language matters a lot. Language, especially the written language, is the weapon of the state as they try to control the narrative and, therefore, the public's perception of those protesting. Calling student protestors "outside political instigators," for example, does the same kind of harm as saying the entire population of Gaza is complicit in the violent resistance of Israeli occupation, and therefore, everyone's deserves to be destroyed.
When you control the language of the narrative, you control the narrative, and you can get away with a lot of harm. Property damage isn't violence. It's property damage. Just like how a genocide isn't an "ethical and calculated response meant to eliminate Hamas from the region." It's a fucking war crime.
