༉‧₊˚. not your average ayato arranged marriage trope.
a/n: so you know those ayato fics where you guys get in an arranged marriage but you live him and he doesn't live you back? Yeah... this is one of those but MY way. (My way or the highway)
gn!reader, poc!reader friendly <3 reader has a dendro and electro vision.
_________ ׂׂૢ་༘࿐
So, the story starts with you. This whole thing started because you wanted more money and power and status, because who doesn't? Now, what sets you apart from the other clans is that you care for your workers and pay them well, so naturally, your reputation is very high in Inazuma. However... money is the reason we exist! Everybody knows it, it's a fact - kiss kiss <3 Now, which other clan in Inazuma has a handsome, rich and highly respected leader? I know! The Yashiro Commission, or the Kamisato Clan. After a few talks, papers were signed and arrangements were made for you guys to be wed.
Ayato was only doing this because a lot of other suitors were on his sister's heels, and he cared too much about her to just let her be thrown away. So, he signed the marriage contract with no feelings for you. We all know why you signed, gold digger, so everything is in place.
The first date was... interesting. You both arrived, looking very attractive, and stood there. Awkwardly. Now, don't get me wrong, you are a wise and powerful person, your dendro vision is very strong when used simultaneously with your electro vision, and Ayato is no doubt a dangerous person with a chilling smile, yet you two just plastered your fake smiles on your faces and kissed each other on the cheek. A long day was ahead, discussing how your clans would be linked, a dinner date, more discussing, brunch, even more discussing, and then going home. It seemed more like a school day rather than an outing. Nevertheless, date 1 was completed.
Date 2: a stroll by the docks, hand in hand. You turned out to be very good at being a fake ass bitch/bastard because even Ayato believed that you were truly in love with him for a second or two. Poor him. His poker face remained, though, never cracking.
Along the way, you two had a little run-in, shall we phrase it that way, and a gang of nobushis were surrounding a small girl. Ayato simply... looked the other way. First of all, how dare he? A small, helpless girl was in danger, and he just decides to... ignore it? Rich people sometimes. You hastily stepped in and wielded your weapon with grace yet brutally slayed the nobushi. Oh, how overjoyed the little girl was that you were there to save her! She clung to you and cried, her parents were dead, they were gone forever! You didn't mind Mr Kamisato telling you that this is unprofessional and you should just leave her so that the Tenryou Commission can take care of her, you decided to take her back home with you.
Despite the interruption, you two carried on your... I don't even know what to call it anymore. You just hated him with your whole heart. How do have the audacity to tell someone not to save a child, call it unprofessional to her face, and side-eye you the entire walk back? Honestly. It's for the money, you told yourself - it's for the money.
3rd date: everything just falls apart. There's you and him throwing passive-aggressive comments at each other, you winning the argument and muttering the slyest little insults known to man at him, and there's Ayaka, who accidentally asked if the little girl was yours and Ayato's. She did have your skin tone, and her face did resemble the latter, having pretty, long, blue hair - anyone could've made that mistake! But, here we are. You: disgusted with the man sitting in front of you, and Ayato: quite displeased with you. There was still hope, you got your benefits, a daughter that isn't actually yours but you loved her nonetheless, and a nice house. Amazing.
Fast-forward to the present; you've been married to Ayato for 2 years now and every day he comes home tired and not wanting to talk to anyone. Fair enough, everyone has their bad days, but this was more than that. He just seemed... bored. Your life with him wasn't your favourite thing about being a part of the Clan, but your daughter - Aarya - and all the extra money you got were keeping you sane. So, you smiled to yourself.
Life was okay.

A BAD GUY — K. Ayato
Tumblr media
Note: This is something I previously posted on my old account but I like it enough to repost.
Contents: Modern!AU, Fem!Reader x Kamisato Ayato
Tumblr media
You became fast friends with Ayaka freshman year. You’re not sure what it was, you just clicked. Perhaps it was her kindness that pushed you to talk to her, or her oddly endearing naivety despite being one of the smartest people in your year. Whatever it was, you’re more than grateful to call her a friend. You have a lot of fun with her, you talk about everything, and you always have each other’s back. In short, you love her to bits. If there’s a problem, it’s certainly not her.
…It’s her older brother.
Everyone is always gushing over him. He’s amazing. He’s so talented. He’s so handsome…
He’s a walking cliché, that’s what he is. Student council president, most likely to be valedictorian, the guy everyone trusts, even the teachers. He’s always getting homemade desserts, cooked up in home economics by classmates and underclassmen alike. Valentine’s especially was absolute madness. Everyone went out of their way to do something for him, trying to get his attention by putting extra effort in their gifts. Then they squealed in happiness when he accepted the offerings and thanked them, as though he bestowed a great honor upon them.
But he’s just so fake. Even though he’s always smiling, it never quite reaches his eyes, and the way he looks at people is so…calculating. How does no one see it?
You’ve been to Ayaka’s house plenty of times by now, and Ayato has been very polite towards you. Still, you can never feel fully at ease whenever he’s around, as though your every move is being carefully watched. The only reason you’ve never said anything is because it’s just your hunch, you’ve never had any real proof of him being anything but perfect.
That is until one day when you’re on cleaning duty and you happen upon something that you were not supposed to see. Your partner for the day would not stop talking, telling you grandiose stories about how he beat another school’s football team all by himself, and how he almost died the other day at the cafeteria when he ordered a special drink that he didn’t know contained beans, which he is allergic to.
Needing a break from the chatter, you offer to take the trash out. The dumpsters are at the back of the school, so it’s quite a walk there, but you’re all too happy to get some peace and quiet.
On your way there, you pass by the student council room. The door is only a bit ajar but you see it all too clearly when, out of habit, you peer inside. Kamisato Ayato is standing there, carrying a load of gifts in his arms to the trash and dumping them in.
You’re so shocked by such a mean action that it makes you drop what you’re holding. Stupid you, because it immediately alerts him of your presence.
Oh, and he is not smiling. Without stopping to think, you pick up what you can and bolt down the hallway before he can say anything.
It gnaws at you for days. Did you see it wrong? No, those clear plastic wrappers were definitely filled with uneaten goodies. One afternoon, Ayaka catches you gnawing on your lip and she asks what’s wrong. You just stare at her for a moment, not knowing what to do. It makes her repeat herself, more worried this time.
“Ayaka…about Ayato-senpai—”
“Hm, what about me?”
You nearly jump out of your skin, whipping around so fast you should get whiplash. There he is with his usual smile, but you swear there’s a twitch of agitation behind those blue eyes.
“Elder brother!”
“Did [Name] tell you the good news, Ayaka?” He smiles a bit more genuinely as he strokes his little sister’s hair despite her protests that he’ll mess it up. “She’ll be joining the student council.”
And just like that, you get roped into the job. It’s definitely for the purpose of keeping an eye on you. You try to protest, but apparently there’s nothing you can do when Ayato decides to use his power to pull the strings.
Frankly, Ayato doesn’t care if you tell someone else—they wouldn’t believe you anyway—but he doesn’t need his sister knowing the less than stellar parts of him.
It’s being on the council that gives you a front-row seat to the enigma that is Kamisato Ayato. He’s still mostly unreadable but, as time goes by, it’s hard to miss the way that he cares about his fellow students. It’s outright impossible to miss his workload—the sheer amount shows how much everyone relies on him—and the pressure he’s constantly under.
It clearly weighs on him more than he lets on, which worries you a bit, though you’re a bit scared to bring it up.
Turns out, you don’t have to. One afternoon, when things become a bit too much, Ayato lets you see a glimpse at the real him. Everyone else left already and, figuring that you’ve already seen through his performance anyway, he doesn’t bother hiding his real feelings from you, baring his annoyances and all. He gripes about a particular teacher that passes off too much of their own responsibility and ones that are too longwinded. You sit with him and talk for a long time, quite enthralled by this new side of him, raw and genuine.
Before long, it becomes custom for the two of you to be the last ones to leave in the afternoon. You get to see him in a new light and, at some point, you ask him the thing that you still haven’t quite figured out: Why did he throw away the gifts he got?
Ayato looks away and, with a sigh, tells you that he’s quite a picky eater and he can’t stomach some of the food he gets. Gifting it to someone else would get noticed easily, so throwing it away is the best way to avoid anyone’s feelings getting hurt. You study the slight pout to his mouth and realise with a start that he’s embarrassed.
It’s the first time you’ve seen him act so much like a little kid and you suddenly burst into laughter. Wiping a tear from your eye, you apologise to him for laughing about it and, when Ayato returns a wry smile, you feel like you’ve gotten a bit closer.
This doesn’t go unnoticed, of course. There are some upperclassmen that don’t take so kindly to you stealing all of Ayato’s “attention”. They make a point to tell you in the most hurtful ways possible, hounding you every day whenever you’re alone.
It gets so bad that you consider resigning for a few days before they come to you groveling, begging for forgiveness.
You’re not quite sure what happened but you can guess. That afternoon, your face feels warm and it’s hard to look Ayato in the eye.
Even worse, you find yourself thinking of him while making cookies in home economics, adding the cranberries that he seems to like so much, before your stomach drops. What are you even thinking? He doesn’t want to eat these.
Except when you’re handing them out to the council, he steals them all for himself without a word. The others chuckle, but you’re not quite sure what they find so funny. Your heart does flips in a way it’s never done before, though.
Ayaka notices that something is different. You’ve never really warmed up to her brother but that seems to be changing. She’s pleased that two people so important to her are getting along.
It’s around this time that the talkative boy in your class confesses to you.
“It’s not really my business,” Ayato says when you ask him what you should do. Your eyes sting as you turn away. Frankly, why did you even bother asking him? You’re alone again in the council room and being with him just makes you feel a certain type of way. No, not ‘a certain’...you know exactly what you’re feeling. Maybe that’s why the words just slipped from your mouth and you’re so hopeful that he’ll say something.
You don’t know why you had any expectations at all.
Ayaka can tell Ayato is in a bad mood though. He comes back home that day and barely registers when she asks how his day’s been. It’s weird to see him so out of it, and she wonders if it has anything to do with her classmate Itto.
Of course, you have to turn him down. You’ve fallen for someone else and can’t lead him on. Except after you’ve said your piece, he remains a bit pushy. That’s when you feel an arm wrap around your shoulders.
“She’s not interested,” a cold voice cuts in blithely, effectively scaring away your suitor.
“Ayato?”

Archons, you were never drinking again.
The moment you’d woken up, you felt like your eyes had been encrusted together in your sleep, and you rubbed away the annoying gounds as you sat yourself upright on the futon. Thankfully, you didn’t have that hangover-warranted headache. But your mouth tasted as if you’ll have to get well-acquainted with the mint extract in the communal baths before speaking to anyone else.
However, the moment you’d gotten your bearings straight, you realized all the other attendants had already gone outside—leaving you alone in the room, much to your horror.
“Fuck,” you muttered, scrambling to your feet as you rolled up your futon messily.
The feeling of responsibility that’s been gradually easing into your routine was a bit…unsettling. You were, by no means, obligated to operate under the same biorhythm as the rest of the Kamisato retainers. In fact, you were a prisoner here. The least you could do to be a thorn on your unknowing captors’ sides was to go against their pre-set routine.
But here you were, combing the tangles out of your hair as you made your way to the lockers lining the edge of the room.
It’s not like you had a lot of possessions to your name as Kira of Sangonomiya, really. You only stored a few gifts from Ayaka inside, namely: two sets of kimonos that you wore interchangeably with the one you’re wearing now, and a ceramic fox figurine she’d purchased from Ritou.
But those gifts weren’t really the reason you treaded to your personal locker first thing every morning.
Once you’d removed the complicated lock latched onto the door, the little fox figurine stared at you from where it was perched atop your clothes. You paid its beady, lazurite eyes no mind—gently setting it to the side as you lifted the neatly folded kimonos off the surface.
Kujou Sara’s feather laid inconspicuously in place.
You breathed out a sigh—of relief or lingering trepidation, you couldn’t quite decide.
Ever since the day Ayaka had invited you out to Konda Village, carrying it around started to make you feel agitated. Like it meant that you still wished to kill the princess in cold blood, so long as it was on your person.
Well… You did!
You weren’t just going to turn tail and desert the Tenryou Commission. Only idiots would dare cross the shogun’s military forces like that. Besides, you’ve assassinated big-name merchants and noblemen alike in the past. Though you were taking a bit more time than usual, you’ll see the Tenryou Commission’s job done—no matter what it takes.
…But why did your chest twist so much at the idea?
In your contemplation, your eyes flickered back to the spot where you’d temporarily placed the little fox. A frown etched its way on your face when you realized something else was sitting right next to it.
You smoothed down your kimonos once more to conceal the dark tengu feather from sight. Then, with just a hint of careful curiosity, you plucked the strange amber jar that had not been there the last time you’d checked your locker.
A small note was tied to the lid.
Hangover meds imported straight from Liyue. They work — I promise. I’ve taken them a few times myself! Also, I told the rest not to wake you up. Consider it a treat from yours truly~
You sighed, folding the note in once again. The only sign you could ever tell it was from Thoma was the lousy doodle at the corner, depicting a cartoonish chief retainer with his tongue sticking out.
“Treating a criminal like one of your own?” you scoffed, yet you were unable to suppress the smile that inched itself on your lips.
“Bunch of goddamn fools…”
Tumblr media
The next time you saw Ayaka again, she collapsed on her way to her quarters.
Your reaction time was immediate. Though you’d been preoccupied with sorting some of the Commissioner’s books at the end of the hall—you bolted to Ayaka’s side the moment you heard the thud of her body against the floorboards.
“Milady,” you called out, slightly shaking her in your arms. “What happened?”
To your relief, she didn’t pass out unconscious. Ayaka sighed, burying her face in her hands as she leaned into your embrace. You frowned. You’ve never seen her lose composure like this.
It took three, deep breaths before the princess slowly peeled herself away.
“My apologies,” she sighed, yet remained in your grasp. “It seems that I lost my balance for a second. Thank you, Miss Kira.”
Today was her first day back from the Tenshukaku, and saying that Ayaka looked a bit worse for wear was an understatement. As always, not a single hair was out of place; not a wrinkle to be seen on her noble garbs despite what just happened.
But you’ve been observing her long enough to tell that she was beyond exhausted.
Her silver irises—normally so bright and determined—have dulled into a lethargic gray. The dark circles underneath her eyes were too conspicuous for you to not notice. And from the way she’d carelessly handled herself like this out in the halls, where no one else but you could see…
The perfect moment to commit the perfect crime.
It would be so easy, too. Ayaka didn’t have her sword, and whatever the higher-ups at the Tenshukaku had assigned for her to deal with, it was obviously taking a toll on her well-being. And here she was, deliberately letting her guard down like she wanted you to go in for the kill.
You didn’t need powdered crystal marrow or a sword to kill someone. You had two hands, and Ayaka had such a pretty, fragile throat…
“M-Miss Kira?”
The princess startled as you struggled to help her back to her feet. You sighed, hoisting one of Ayaka’s arms across your shoulder before guiding her back to her room.
“You should really learn when to take breaks, milady,” you chided, sliding the door open with your foot as she stared at you bizarrely. “If the other retainers can slack off when no one’s looking, who’s to say you’re forbidden from doing the same?”
“But…”
Whatever protest Ayaka was about to rebut with, it melted into a forlorn sigh. Satisfied, you managed a lopsided smile as you helped her seat herself on her low mattress.
“Do you want me to get you a drink?” you asked.
Ayaka bit the inside of her cheek. Then, softly:
“Yes, please.”
On the short trek to the kitchen, you found yourself in another bout of self-introspection. Naturally, the logical, more rational part of you was having an internal meltdown. She’d been right in front of you with no one else to bear witness to the crime! And you just let that opportunity slip from your fingers? Voluntarily?
“Miss Kira, hey!”
You jolted when you heard Hina call your (fake) name. She waved you over to the little circle she and some other attendants huddled in by the entrance.
“Uh, sorry I need to do something for Lady Kamisato,” you apologized. “Another time, maybe?”
Hina waved a hand in dismissal. “Oh, no, no. I just wanted to thank you. I’m the estate’s resident healer, yet I hadn’t the slightest clue how to effectively cure a hangover. The pills you gave me and the girls worked like a charm the morning after our get-together!”
You blinked. Right. After taking a small dose of Thoma’s little present, you’d decided to give the rest to Hina and her friends when you noticed them looking a little green the other day.
“It’s nothing. You helped me the day I arrived, too, didn’t you?”
“That is true,” she laughed, one eye dropping into a wink. “But we were just wondering if, when you’re not too busy, you could join us for a couple of drinks sometime?”
The other girls nodded encouragingly, smiling with a hint of anticipation. You…didn’t know how to respond.
This was the first time someone’s invited you for drinks outside of an illegal transaction.
“I…” Just before you could let yourself mull over it, you remembered you had a princess waiting for a glass of water on the second floor. “I’ll give it some thought. Thank you for the invitation!”
Hina nodded in understanding. “Sure! Just let us know anytime.”
As you grabbed a jug of water in the kitchen, you couldn’t help the fizzle of excitement prickling your chest. In the instances you found yourself hanging around Inazuma City, you always wondered what it would feel like. To be laughing with some girlfriends of your own as you all got wasted in an izakaya.
You slapped your cheek a couple of times once you caught yourself daydreaming.
Relax. You hadn’t even formally accepted the invite, yet…
When you finally got back to the Ayaka’s room with the promised drink in hand, your heart still wouldn’t stop pounding. Thankfully, the princess was too caught up in her own stress to notice.
“Thank you so much, Miss Kira,” she said, nearly gulping the entire glass in one fell swoop. Ayaka detached her lips from the rim with a satisfied sigh.
You wondered if she'd mind if you snooped around a little.
“Do you need any, uh, help?” You felt a little sheepish for some, archons damned reason, but you pressed forward. “As you’ve probably already noticed, my assistance is quite useful around these parts, milady.”
Ayaka was silent for five whole seconds before she stifled a laugh.
“Hey, what’s so funny?”
“Nothing, nothing,” she insisted, yet her shoulders were still quaking. “It’s just…you sounded exactly like Thoma for a moment there.”
Your jaw dropped. Did she just…?
“Hmph. I know I’m actually here for you in your time of need,” you huffed, folding your arms together. “If I may ask, milady, what are you so busy with in the first place?”
Slowly, the glee on Ayaka’s face dissipated and you almost felt bad for asking. You totally just overstepped your boundaries, didn’t you?
“Well… I’m sure you know about the Vision Hunt Decree, yes?”
You opened your mouth, closed it, opened it again. “I, uh. Yeah. I’ve heard some…stuff.”
No good stuff, that’s for sure.
Ayaka flashed you one of her kind, signature smiles, patting the vacant spot on her bed. Something about the gesture was oddly familiar, but you followed her lead nonetheless.
“It’s no secret that the Yashiro Commission is the closest to both the Raiden Shogun and the people of Inazuma,” she explained. “And in that regard, we also serve as mouthpieces for each entity. What Her Excellency wishes to impart to the people, they shall hear. And what the people wish for the Raiden Shogun to know, we will deliver.”
“The Vision Hunt has been kind to no one. Both the enforcers and victims alike suffer in their own ways because of it.” The princess clenched her hands on her lap, lip quivering with something akin to desperation. “This is why Brother and I ask for frequent audiences with the Raiden Shogun, in hopes of changing her mind about the matter. Though we’ve successfully mitigated their progress in some way, it…still won’t be enough.
“Inazuma is the nation of eternity, but if Her Excellency believes that seizing Visions is the only path to achieve that eternity, then the Yashiro Commission won’t stand for it.”
Ayaka looked up at you the next second—smile never wavering in spite of the expectations of hundreds, or even thousands, weighing on her lithe shoulders.
Was…was this the person you’d been sent to kill?
“So, there’s that,” she sighed once again, letting herself fall onto the mattress. “I hope I didn’t bore you with all the gritty details, Miss Kira. I’m sure someone like you already shares the same sentiments I do…”
All of a sudden, the pieces finally started to fit.
You never would have been able to tell that Ayaka wasn’t just some noblewoman whose poise and etiquette could put anyone else’s to shame. During your week-long stakeout of the mansion, you had assumed that’s all there was to her. A noblewoman with world-class poise and etiquette. Maybe even a snobby rich girl who had no idea what was happening to the rest of the world.
But…you never expected her to be this.
A dignified woman who fought for what she believed was right in her own, silent ways. A public figure that might even influence the tides of the war.
A hurdle in the shogunate’s plans to seize complete control.
“Fuuuuck…”
“Hm? What was that, Miss Kira?”
Shoving down the inner turmoil that’s beginning to blossom in your chest, you cast Ayaka a smile too tightly wrung to be real. “I’m just honored you chose to confide your troubles in me, milady. That must’ve been a pain to bottle up.”
She groaned. “If you only knew…”
Tumblr media
Ayaka was an overflowing dam thereafter.
She told you about their parents—how they’ve always put the good of the people first before anything else, how they wished to continue their legacy. She told you about her dream to attain the Shogun’s envisioned eternity the right way, but you lost her a little on that part. Way too abstract for a commoner like you.
“Oh!” she exclaimed all of a sudden, and you realized that the sky had already gone dark outside. “I forgot… I left Thoma in charge of the festival preparations. I promised I’d go to Amakane Island to meet him.”
“Wait a minute,” you blanched. “On top of those peace negotiations with the Raiden Shogun, you’re…organizing a festival?”
Ayaka sighed. “It’s not as if the people of Inazuma are aware of what we’re doing behind closed doors, Miss Kira. We still have to commit to our year-long schedule to avoid suspicion.”
“But wouldn’t letting them know be easier?”
For a moment, she considered your inquiry—finding the right words to respond with.
“I’m not very certain how Lady Sangonomiya does things in Watatsumi Island, but…” Ayaka met your eyes, and you didn’t miss how their usual glimmer was finally back in place. “I’m sure our objectives are somewhat similar.”
You craned your head in confusion, but the princess was kind enough to elaborate.
“We rally against the decree, not because we want the praise and recognition of the citizens. Rather…we do it so they would never have to worry if Inazuma would live to see another day.”
The princess took both of your hands in hers, and you nearly startled at the contact.
“We fight in their stead, so they don’t have to,” she murmured. “Tell me, have you ever fought a battle close to a residential area, Miss Kira?”
“Um…no.”
“Exactly.”
You were about to tell her that you didn’t quite get it, still, but then you remembered Futaba and Takeru. How, in spite of the dreadful state Inazuma has been plunged in, they could still live peaceful lives in Konda Village. Aside from your…slip-up last year, there was no semblance of the war to be found in their humble community.
And it was all thanks to the people fighting in the shadows. People like Ayaka.
She even thinks you’re one of them, a lone voice hissed in the back of your head. You’re horrible.
The words echoed over and over.
Even when the princess wrapped up your impromptu heart-to-heart—
You’re horrible.
Even when she invited you to come to Amakane Island—
You’re horrible.
Even when you forced a grin and followed her outside—
You’re fucking horrible.
You thought of the time you spent in the estate. Of Ayaka’s wellspring of kindness. Of the fact that Ayato silently let his sister’s potential murderer live in their home.
You didn’t belong there. You didn’t belong with them.
Those people have done nothing but good things for you, and you still had the gall to play house? You knew the clock was still ticking even if the Tenryou Commission never gave you a deadline.
If you take too long, they might just hunt you down.
Worse, they’ll take matters into their own hands.
These were the thoughts that invaded every niche of your mind as you and Ayaka made the trip to the island along with a couple of her guards. If she noticed the barebones distress that you couldn’t quite mask, she didn’t speak of it.
And you silently prayed she never did.

𝐓𝐡𝐨𝐦𝐚 - 𝗪𝗵𝗼 𝗮𝗿𝗲 𝘆𝗼𝘂?
𝐆𝐞𝐧𝐫𝐞: 𝐀𝐍𝐆𝐒𝐓 𝐀𝐍𝐆𝐒𝐓 𝐀𝐍𝐍𝐆𝐒𝐓 𝐀𝐍𝐆𝐒𝐓 𝐀𝐍𝐆𝐒𝐒𝐓𝐓𝐓𝐓𝐓𝐓 (it probably won't make you cry)
𝐖𝐨𝐫𝐝 𝐜𝐨𝐮𝐧𝐭: 𝟏.𝟑𝐊
𝐀/𝐧: 𝐆𝐨𝐝, 𝐈 𝐣𝐮𝐬𝐭 𝐥𝐨𝐯𝐞 𝐚𝐧𝐠𝐬𝐭-
---------------------------------------------------
You knew that for generations and generations, the hanahaki disease flows strongly in your genes. Every one of your family members has had it, some died, and some lived. You were no exception, and you were next. However, you weren't expecting it to happen so soon, as now was the time you watch blood and flowers leave your throat in horror. The single moment that you were in doubt that this man you fell in love with were to never return your feelings, the flowers began to fall.
Thoma. Oh, Thoma.
He's the light of your life. He showed no malice and continued to be kind. That's the part of him that you loved most. How much he cared about animals and about other people. Seriously, he should receive more credit for working so hard.
Currently, it's spring. So you and Thoma decided to take a walk under the cherry blossoms. The petals glowed pink, and they quickly fall, just like how your hanahaki disease works. The moment doubt nibbled onto your skin, it continues to eat you up until there was nothing left. Hanahaki gets their dessert even though you never put your life at risk for this.
Suddenly, you started coughing, resulting it letting out petals and blood. Oh no, Thoma began to worry.
"Y/n! Oh dear, are you sick? Are you alright? Do you want me to fetch a doctor?" He inspected you thoroughly. Your expression, the way you awkwardly motion your hands, the way you avoided his eyes. He noticed it. "Should I carry you home? I mean, if you prefer that, then-!"
"No, I'm alright! My throat just itched, that's all."
Of course, you knew him well. An excuse like that could never convince a house husband, a man who carries for other people's wellbeing when he should be caring about his. Due to this, knowing that you were simply nothing but another friend of his made your condition even worse. You had to lock yourself up in your room, cooped up with no assistance. You avoided help at all costs. Thoma bangs on the front door to catch your attention, but you ignore his whimpers as he walks away. Itto, Ayaka, Ayato, Gorou, Sara, Heizou... all were ignored.
Continuously throwing up petals and crimson blood, suffering all alone. You know the cure. Either get yourself to be his or completely wash away all of your memories with him. You had no choice, you still had to confess. If you chose the second decision, you would have to explain to him your situation. He would feel that he was responsible for your disease and do everything he can for you to live, even if it meant to force himself to be with you.
No, you don't want that.
For the third time of the day, you heard a knock from outside of your door, making you flinch in your spot. This time, you decided to listen to the voice.
"Hey, Y/n." It's mom.
"You have it, don't you? The disease that all of us share."
Yeah, I do.
"I've heard from your friends that they couldn't contact you. They have tried to visit you numerous times before and yet you haven't responded." Your mother went quiet for a second to collect her thoughts, then breathed in preparing her speech. "Look, if you're not going to open this door, I'll have you listen to me from where you're sitting right now. I know that things are difficult, I went through it all. I suffered for a month, just like you and I was nearly about to die, but see, I found your dad. I lost my feelings for him while I converse with your dad to talk about things."
And? Your point?
"There's many more ways to lift yourself back up. If you can't get over this man...." she breathed in and out.
"...then check whether it's true that he truly doesn't love you. If not, your second choice is worth considering. Well then, I'll see you soon."
You stared at the ground, hearing the same conversation over and over, repeatedly in your head. Of course, how could you be so stupid? Your delusions that you didn't have a chance with Thoma was because your brain had just decided it never existed. Why not confirm it? You shouldn't be covering yourself in the dark like this. You have to find out.
Steadily and carefully standing up from the ground, your feet shook as you made your way to your closet and searched for some outdoor clothes. "Now that I think about it, yesterday, Thoma said that he's going to celebrate his birthday today with our friends. It should be an hour from now."
It hurts.
Your throat is burning.
"If you ever feel like looking over to this side," Thoma brushed his fingers gently, down the door. "You should come to my birthday party. It would be at six o'clock."
You pulled out your kimono, lacking any unique design. You didn't want attention to be all on you. Although it has been three weeks since you left the house, surely eyes would fall on you despite what you wear wasn't really pretty. Still, you need to hide your face. Put on a face mask and leave the house.
You wore your Japanese sandals and walked your way to Ayaka and Ayato's residence. It was a bit far, but you wanted to go anyway.
Once you arrived, you saw everybody outside, already chatting with each other until they saw you. Everything went quiet. Of course, no doubt, they would be surprised with your condition. You don't know how different you looked since three weeks ago. Probably horrible since you weren't able to sleep in days.
"Oh," Thoma quivered. "Y/n! You made it to the party!"
He stood up and rushed to wrap his arms around you. Seriously, meeting him was your medicine to your disease. It felt enough to recover from this curse.
"Ah, hi Thoma. Sorry, I forgot to bring a present." A sweat drop rolled down your cheek as you rubbed the back of your neck. It was a motion that indicated you felt uncomfortable. By the way Hezou looked at you, he didn't miss that expression your face. Though you covered half of it.
All the adults, including you, raised their glass and gulped down alcohol. Eating a feast, laughing and playing games. It had been a while since you felt this happiness filling up your emptiness, but, who's that woman beside Thoma?
"Everyone! I have an announcement to make!"
He pulled this unknown woman near him, shoulders touching with the biggest grin written across his face. Before you knew it, he kissed her on the lips. "She's now my girlfriend!"
Everybody cheered and clapped. The girl seem to be embarrassed to show her face in front of Thoma's friends, hiding behind him, but he reassured her that nothing was to scare her by holding her hand tightly. He sees her differently compared to you, the weakling.
Heizou continues to watch as you tighten your fists underneath the table, yet keeping up a stiff face. "Congratulations."
A few minutes later, you ran to the back of the house to vomit flowers and blood as tears started to roll down your face. Truly, even in the worst of times, these flowers seem to bloom properly inside your body. They look pretty once you let it all out.
You shakily sighed. "Mother, there's, there's no point."
You wiped your lips with the back of your hand and looked up at the big bright moon. It was looking down at you as if it was waiting for this moment, your decision that changes your fate.
"I hate this. Gosh, I, I hate this so, so much."
You covered your face with your palms, letting all your feelings out. "I am so sorry, Thoma. I am very sorry."
"Y/n! Oh, it has been a while since we talked! How are you feeling? Do you feel any better?" Thoma, alongside with his girlfriend, watched your unmoving back. You stood there like a statue, before turning around with a confused face.
"Who are you?"

Kamisato Ayato x Reader
Warning: Sexual themes
Kamisato Ayato x Reader
"Are you sure you don't want my brother to follow you home?" Ayaka asked, Kamisato Ayaka was one of your best friends and today you had come over to her and her older brother's home for some tea.
"N-No it's okay" You said, you had a big crush on Ayato and wanted nothing more but to spend some time with him. But knowing how busy he is you didn't want to bother him. You wanted to confess to him but it's hard to alone with him, you wouldn't dare doing it infront of Ayaka.
"Be careful on your way-" Before Ayaka could finish her sentence there was a loud thunder and the next thing you knew it was pouring rain.
"Huh" You saw the rain in disbelief
"Girls you should come inside" You hear Ayato shouting from another room.
"It's okay (Name) you may stay here for a bit longer" Ayaka smiled
"Alright thank you" You smiled back and followed her inside
You ended up staying over for dinner, once in a while you looked at Ayato. The way he carries himself he did it with such grace and gentleness that you thought was the most attractive thing in the world. You quickly looked away right before Ayato would catch you staring at him. Good thing Ayaka was there because if she wasn't it would be too awkward.
"Looks like it's still raining" You sighed after dinner
"Brother can (Name) sleepover here?" Ayaka asked
"Oh no it's alright you don't have to go through the trouble" You said
"No you should stay over (Name)" Ayato made eye contact with you "We sadly don't have any umberella to lend and we can't let you go outside and risk getting sick" He said
"Okay thank you so much" You blushed
"Come now I'll show you our guestroom" Ayato smiled and you nodded
Ayato pulled the door to the side and then rolled out the futon you will be sleeping in. He also handed you a yukata to wear.
"That should be it" Ayato smiled
"Thank you for everything" You said
"No need to thank us, I'm the one that's grateful. Ayaka doesn't have a lot of friends and I'm so glad she met you. I am too of course" Ayato said stroking your cheek gently, this was the first time he was touching you.
"Ayato I-"
"Yes?"
"Brother there's an insect in my room" You could hear Ayaka scream
"Sorry, good night (Name)" Ayato excused himself
Frustrated you threw yourself down on the futon. It was one of the few moments you could have told him your feelings for him but got interrupted. You sighed and changed into the yukata and pulled the thich covers over you. A few hours passed by but you couldn't sleep, the loud thunder and the lightning kept you awake. You couldn't help being scared of it even though it wasn't dangerous since you're inside. After a debate with yourself you decided to go to Ayaka's room and sleep there. She was your best friend after all and she would understand if you are scared and didn't want to sleep alone. You carefully crawled out of the futon and left your room. With light steps you walked through the hallway, suddenly light from the lightning from the window lighted the wall and you see a large shadow.
"Ah!" You gasped in fear and fell back
"(Name) are you okay? It's just me" You hear Ayato's voice
"Ayato" You whispered his face, he smiled gently and helped you stand up "What are you doing here?" Ayato asked
"I couldn't sleep...I'm a bit scared of the thunder and lightning" You admitted
"Come here" Ayato held your hand in his and walked with you to his room. "You can stay here if you want" Ayato said after you both had entered. Your plan was to go to Ayaka's room but now Ayato, the man you are in loved with offered to stay in his room? Of course you couldn't reject that offer.
"I'd love to" You blushed
"We both have to share the futon, don't worry I will keep my distance" Ayato said and sat down on the futon and made space for you.
"You don't have to keep your distance" You whispered and sat down next to him
"What?" Ayato looked surprised, you took a deep breath. Here goes nothing.
"Ayato I....I love you and have been for a while...that's what I wanted to tell you before. But if you don't feel the same for me it's okay" You finally confessed to him. You felt like a huge weight has been lifted off your shoulders.
"(Name)" Ayato gently cupped your face with one of his hands and looked into your eyes "I love you too, I had a feeling that the feeling was mutual but since your my sister's friend I worry if it would affect your friendship" Ayato said, hearing that he loved you back made you so happy but you didn't understand his concern.
"Why do you think so?" You asked
"I don't know...maybe Ayaka would feel uncomfortable if she knew" Ayato said, it felt a bit strange seeing him doubtful because whenever you were around him he always appeard so confident.
"We can keep it a secret for a while if you want to..but I want to tell her eventually" You said
"Okay" With no time to loose Ayato close the gap between the two of you and kissed your lips gently. You kissed him back and wrapped your arms around his neck. He licked your lips and you opened your mouth to let his tongue inside. You moaned and felt his weight leaning more towards you and you lied down on your back with him over you while making out. Due to the lack of air Ayato broke the kiss and the two of you are catching your breath.
"I want you (Name)" Ayato whispered in your ear, you felt his hot breath tickle your ear making your skin shiver.
"I want you too" You said back, Ayato kissed your lips gently and then kissed down your neck and carefully opened your yukata. You gasped and covered your breasts with your arms.
"What's wrong?" Ayato asked
"I'm sorry.. it's just embarrassing" You said
"There's nothing to be emarrassed about" Ayato smiled, he gently removed your arms to reveal your breasts the sudden temperature made your nipples hard.
"Ah" you moaned as he sucked on your left nipple and touched your other breast "D-Don't tease me" you said when you felt his gentle bite.
"I'm sorry I can't help it" Ayato chuckled and switched to your right nipple. He loves your breats gave them each a hickey. He fully opened your yukata and kissed down your stomach, he could see you were already wet for him which made him excited. He could feel that he was getting hard but couldn't enter you just yet.
"You have to keep your voice low (Name) so you don't wake up my sister" Ayato said
"Yeah" you nodded, you spread your legs for him and he inserted one finger inside of you. You bit your lip to hold in your moans but the more he was thrusting his finger the harder it is to stay quiet. Ayato inserted another finger inside of you, seeing how much you struggle to keep your moans low he covered your mouth with his free hand. You let out a muffled moan as he hit a certain spot. he continued hitting that spot and you threw your head back as you cummed on his fingers. He drew back his hands and unwrapped his own yukata, Ayato always wore tight clothes so you knew he had a nice body but seeing it now not wearing nothing was even better. His member was hard and you began getting a bit nervous. Ayato pulled the thick cover over him and first rubbed his member against your entrance and quietly moaned.
"Just tell me if it feels uncomfortable and I'll stop" Ayato said
"Okay" You nodded
Ayato let out a low moan as he slowly entered you. He was filling you up and you feel your walls wrapped around his member.
"You're so tight but feel so good" Ayato blushed and kept pushing in his length
"Ah" You felt a bit of a discomfort
"Shall I stop?" Ayato asked concerned
"N-No go on" You said
Ayato leaned down to press his lips against yours and pushed until he was fully inside of you. He broke the kiss and started trusting into you, he lost to the temptation. He got a bit rough and thrusted fast and hard into you.
"Ayato" You moan his name
"Ah...(Name)..you're so perfect" Ayato moand, he held your hips steady and kept thrusting into your g-spot. The weather outside had already calmed down, the thunder and lightning had stopped.
Ayato pulled out and cummed on your stomach, you both panted hard and took some time to catch your breaths.
"I love you Ayato"
"I love you too (Name)" Ayato kissed your forehead and dried off your stomach. He laied down next to you, because the both of you couldn't rest your head on his pillow he let you rest yours on his upper arm. You snuggled close to him and you could feel his free arm holding you tight and the both of you fell asleep while listening to the rain.
You woke up the next morning feeling well rested. Sitting up on you streched out your arms and looked through the window. It was sunny outside and the rain was long gone you noticed that you were back in the guestroom. Memories from last night came to mind and at first you weren't sure if it actually happened or if it was a dream. Looking down on your chest the hickies was still there, you let out a sigh of relief. Standing up you rolled up to futon and changed into your clothes.
After Ayato had carried you back to the guestroomm he changed into his normal everyday outfit and is about to roll up his futon only to be stopped by a stain on the mattress. At a closer look he knew that it was a bloodstain, Ayato hasn't been injured lately so it can only mean that it was your blood. Kowing that he was in fact your first made him feel warm on the inside. He chuckled quietly to himself and picked up the mattress to go wash the stain off.
You and the Kamisato siblings had breakfast before you went home. You and Ayato acted as if nothing happened and it seems like Ayaka didn't suspect a thing.
"Thanks again for letting me stay over for the night" you and Ayaka hugged
"Of course (Name), we'll meet again tomorrow right?" Ayaka asked
"Right" You smiled
"Wait (Name) let me accompany you" Ayato who suddenly appeard next to Ayaka
"Oh?" Ayaka gave him a curious look
"I have some buisiness to attend to in the city and (Name)'s home is nearby" Ayato explained
"Alright I'll see you later" Ayaka said
You and Ayato walked next to each other, there was an awkward silence at first. But once the Kamisato estate was out of sight Ayato held your hand gently.
"Ayato?" You looked up at him surprised
"It's alright, only until we see the city before us" he smiled
"Okay" You smiled
"Is your body okay?" Ayato asked
"I'm okay....what about you?" You asked feeling embarrassed
"I'm perfectly fine" Ayato chuckled
"What is it?" You asked when Ayato suddenly stopped
"We don't have to hurry" Ayato said
"Don't you have things to take care of in the city?" You asked
"I do but later, I want to spend my free time today with you" Ayato wrapped his free arm behind your back and pulled you close to his chest.
"I'm glad, I want to spend more time with you as much as possible" You smiled, Ayato leaned down and kissed your lips passionately.

hi general, passing by to send you some kisses /p
im handing you blankets (if the weather is cold where you are) and your favourite drink <3
Tumblr media
might I ask you to tell us about any random hc you have about ayato? (for example, that he has lots of moles or that he has calloused hands because of how much paperwork he does) If not it's completely ok!
Hiya Lucas! It's great to see you in my inbox !! thank you for the blankets and drink, feeling very cozy right about now :> !!!!
This has been sitting in my inbox for a hot minute because I just haven't had much motivation to write, so sorry about that!
But Ayato headcanons, hooh, I certainly have a few!!!! I'll toss them below the cut :3
He's ambidextrous - with both writing and weaponry. He can seamlessly switch and tends to just use whichever hand is convenient (though he favours his right when he's doing calligraphy so he wont accidentally smudge the ink).
He tends to hyperfocus on things (especially work-related things) and will often forget to look after himself entirely, only realising that he has been sitting hunched over his desk for hours on end when Thoma tells him.
Speaking of, I really love the idea of Thoma and Ayato having a QPP-type relationship, they're really casual behind closed doors and just act like best friends when others aren't watching.
Ayato is really good with kids, though he isn't particularly fond of them (as in he won't go out of his way to interact with them). He got a lot of experience growing up with Ayaka and always knows how to deescalate situations or play along with silly little games and the like.
He shares a study with Ayaka, so they can keep each other company! They have two big desks in one room, though Ayaka tends to be out and about more often than not.
He gets really irritated if anyone moves anything on his desk - he's always able to tell right away, even if everything has been put back in its rightful place. His desk is often a horrifically chaotic mess, but he has a system in place and archons help the poor new hire who tries to neaten it up a little.
Terrified of insects. Gets super grossed out and may actually shriek if he comes face-to-face with a creepy crawly unexpectedly. Thoma is also afraid of them, leaving Ayaka or another housekeeper to have to scoop them up to take outside.
Had a bit of a rebellious phase growing up, though after his parents passed he matured quickly, though sometimes his defiant streak may shine through, especially when dealing with uppity nobles.
Can and will bitch and moan endlessly about all the stuck up idiots he has to deal with on a day-to-day basis. Ayaka and Thoma often get an earful of this - sometimes his gripes become super petty and specific (for instance, he hates the way that the Guuji Yae smacks her lips when she eats).
Speaking of bad noises, he totally has misophonia - he's extraordinarily good at masking his negative responses to things (especially around others) but certain noises just trigger the rage response - Thoma and Ayaka have learned to keep an eye out for that slight twitch in his eye and the tense way he holds himself when he's close to snapping - not that he'd ever do anything outright rude or bad, but he may try something a little underhanded or not ideal for the current situation just to get out of it.
Ayato is a bit of a pessimist too, he calls it 'realism' and cites the fact that it's good that he's always "either correct or pleasantly surprised" as an excuse to continue being vaguely negative about things.
He twirls his hair a lot - I like to imagine his hair as being longer than in canon (more like how people theorised it when he was first revealed) and so often he'll just absently fidget with it.
He's awful when it comes to music. He cant carry a tune or hold a rhythm to save his life. If he's heard a song enough, he may be able to sing it presentably well, but ... not amazingly.
He likes to play silly little practical jokes on people when he gets the opportunity. I'm imagining this scene from mlp when it's in a situation where he needs to be polite and well put together, but there's definitely been times when he's had a bit of extra time on his hands and pulled together a pretty crazy and elaborate scheme (such as making poor Thoma think the entire household had been replaced by yokai after he'd been out to purchase some things)
Oh also !! I like to think that Ayato and Kokomi would get along pretty well and have a lot to talk about. I think Ayaka would also get along really well with her, but there's just an unspoken bond between Ayato and Kokomi as heirs to large important families who were burdened with their duties at too young of an age. They often correspond through letters and the like.
His expensive taste is not optional. He will literally break out in a rash if he has to use cheap soap or crappy sheets.
Does NOT know how to deal with animals at all. Has been chased around by the estate's chickens multiple times (mostly because Thoma babies them too much and they think every person is a friend)
Ayato's sense of personal space is really ... weird, too. With people he doesn't know well or doesn't care for, he stands several paces away (probably a little more than what's considered socially acceptable), but for his close friends and family, he's practically shoulder-to-shoulder with them.
Is super prone to misplacing or losing his things - others (read: thoma) usually have to keep track of important things for him or else they'll just disappear forever in his eight billion pockets.
Wears lots and lots of layers because he likes the comfort that the extra weight and pressure brings.
Please don't repost, steal, copy or otherwise plagiarise my writing! I do not consent for my works to be translated and posted elsewhere, or used to teach bots!

An alternative universe of vigil, if mc managed to survive longer and the shougun's back up army arrived later than ayato and the Shuumatsuban's. Imagine if Ayato managed to arrive on time, to at least be able to give mc medication. One of the shougun's army will probably see Ayato carrying mc, so they go to the Kamisato estate to confront Ayato about the warrant. Ayato, being someone who really cares for mc, decided to protest about it. But it's the Shougun's orders. So Ayato proposed to confront Ei by trying to convinced her that mc shouldn't have anything to do with the warrant for her younger brother, because she wasn't the one who interrupted the duel, she shouldn't have to endure the punishment. In this alternative universe, Ei still doesn't budge. And the only way she would let mc off of the warrant and the hunt is if she were to marry with someone who has a high status. Basically Ayato just tells her that their parents have already been planning on an arranged marriage for a while and they are already planning to sign the paper (this is a half true, since their parents only suggested it bit they never forced them to be in an arranged marriage, because they want their kids to be happy with who they choose. But they already have the papers, Ayato kept it for save keepings, if they ever need to use it. ). And so Ayato showed the proof when one of soldiers were tasked to get the papers, Ei finally agreed to let go of mc. But in exchange, mc needs to marry Ayato. Now imagine how salty and great full Kazuha will be to Ayato, after the vision hunt decree is lifted, when he knew that his sister is still alive thanks to Ayato, bit is salty because HE MARRIED HIS DEAR SISTER. o(iДi)o=> this is basically his face when he heard that Ayato needs to marry his sister, so she can still be alive. Ayaka is secretly cheering in the back, her ship since she was like... 8? has finally come true (even though it's from an arranged-live-or-die-marriage situation)
Oho, this prompt I likey~
Marriage and romance have never been on their (Ayato & MC) minds but boy I can see this happening since it's a matter of life and death.
Their relationship will be expanded on that Kaedehime post, which has become Vigil!MC's profile LMAO-
Ayato's such a gentleman, really.
He won't do anything that would go against his relationship with MC but her life is on the line and he for sure wouldn't let her slip past when he's there with the ability to save her.
The first thing he'd do once MC's safe and taken care of is to apologize. He, after all, just decided to expedite the 'faux' marriage.
MC would feel a bit hollow but in the grand scheme of things, she's extremely grateful so she says thank you. She was saved and thus given another chance at life, how can she not be thankful??
Kazuha... aha, oh Kazu dear. The bitterness he would feel because?? If he stuck around longer maybe he could've saved her (Resolve route).
He's filled to the brim with gratitude, of course. His sister was saved.
I imagine him getting the news when he was already at the Crux and he just- slightly wobbles on his feet because he can't believe it.
This prompt will actually be angsty for the Kaedehara siblings, since MC's married, she for sure can't travel around with Kazuha. And Kazuha, who likes to travel, won't be able to stay put in one place.
Yes, he can tolerate not moving around and just be there for MC, but he'll feel caged. And MC's the kind to repay the favor with all her might, so I can see her helping around the Kamisato Estate.
What does that mean?
Less sibling time that's right- little chances of redemption through action in Kazuha's case.
There is forgiveness, but their relationship remains a little more strained than ever. my heart.

Me vs Energy Cost
When I started playing Genshin Impact, I had no concept of energy cost or energy recharge. My very early team was anemo traveler, Kaeya, Benny, and Beidou. Traveler, Kaeya, and Benny need 60 energy for a burst, while Beidou needs 80. I didn’t think too much about how long I had to charge Beidou’s burst, even though me and my sad skills were very dependent on her shield*.
Then, once I’m comfortable with Qiqi’s healing mechanics, I played her a lot (still do😉). Sometimes she swapped Benny out, sometimes she went together with Benny. She and Benny carried me against two abyssal beings in the Chasm (yeah, I’m that sad).
Later on I had Ayato, Thoma, and the last addition to my Yashiro team: Ayaka. At this point, I already know what it means to recharge energy, so for the those whose burst skills I rely on the most, I’ve learned to prioritize ER stats/substats in their weapons and artifacts. Problem is, for DPS class characters like Ayato and Ayaka, you generally want to prioritize their ATK stats and crit ratio, and these stats leave little room for more ER. Fortunately for Ayato specifically, his burst stays on field for a very looooongggg time that it feels fine even if he can’t burst every rotation (fyi rotation is something I should care more, but don’t 🤣), so I don’t have that much trouble with his energy requirement. At some point I put an ER Heart of Depth sands on him though, and at ~170% ER it was so much fun.
Anyway, as I have mentioned before: I’ve had a lot of high-energy cost characters since the beginning. Another character that I bring with me often recently is Xingqiu, and he also… require 80 energy 🤣 Aaaaaand… now that I really, really want to run Yashiro comm team, I’ve started building Sayu and when I checked her skills… yep, you guessed it. With how OP dendro traveler is, I now have him wield dendro and turns out his burst also requires 80 energy.
So, like… I don’t know what I’m trying to say here… 🤣 I guess… since I’m so used to bringing characters with high energy requirement, 80 has become some sort of standard for me and anything below that feels “cheap”, as opposed to the other way around for a lot of other people… 💁‍♀️
*later I found out that most people build Beidou to be a damage dealer and not a shielder, and thus pairing her with The Bell was super not optimal… which is the sole reason why I kinda stop playing her. Because I can’t parry if my life depends on it… and yeah, finding out that I had been playing Beidou wrong kinda killed the joy of playing her for me >_> Just one example that the internet can be so very annoying when it comes to Genshin…

I'm so amazed at how honkai star rail for once got me hooked into a gacha game story
this rarely ever happens to me in gacha games, I usually go on for like a week and then lose interest (since it tends to get boring)
like, for example, with genshin I only started to catch interest in sumeru, yet I never got there because the gameplay being overwhelming + how much text I had to skip on inazuma lol (no hate if others liked it, I just didn't find it that interesting so I'd skim through it waiting for it to pick up,,, at some point I was only reading whatever ayaka and thoma said and ignoring everyone else, never even reached ayato)
MY POINT IS THAT THIS GAME HAS GOT ME ACTUALLY LOOKING FORWARD TO READING MORE AND THINKING ABOUT THE STORY EVEN 2 WEEKS AFTER I FINISHED WHAT WAS AVAILABLE OF MAIN STORY
this game? hooked from the start
Tumblr media
here's a screenshot of my best friend realising I was actually reading the story and not just skipping dialogues (something I am very famous for doing in my friend circle, it's a meme that I only have 2 modes: "I read this 3 times and didn't understand anyways" and "I read the entirety of this in 3 hours let me make an entire dissertation about it for you", and me going into the second one is a COMPLIMENT to the writer)
it's amazing
on that topic though, I think so much of that stupid coffin of luocha's... like genuinely, I'm like 99% sure I know what is inside of that shit and I am so fucking looking forward to seeing it happen
but also I've been also thinking of the relation between the xianzhou's history and fu hua's "no mercy for the corrupted" era
she's clearly the marshal, there's no way they're teasing a "marshal hua" (it's in one of the assignments), saying BARELY ANYTHING about the marshal on the xianzhou story video, and NOT making it the hua that is famous for destroying that of which she believes is corrupted without exception
the hunt's relationship with the abundance is exactly what was happening back in that plotline
plus we have jing yuan here who had to kill his own master, who imo looks like fu hua, and since he looks like jingliu there's that relation there for me, no one can convince me I'm wrong ok
his job as the general in the luofu feels as if fu hua and zhongli were mashed into a single character
(which worries me seeing the little twerp that is his disciple but I'll give the little shit the benefit of the doubt, I'm gonna enjoy avenging my goddess in the boss battle anyways)
WHICH
TAKES ME TO THE COFFIN
THAT'S TOTALLY JINGLIU
whether jing yuan requested it or if it's some sort of twisted "gift" from the abundance themselves I still can't tell from the clues we've got
these clues being:
luocha having a much stronger connection to his path, to even heal cyborgs with magic, carrying that shit everywhere, saying it's "a favor" from someone, saying he only met the person in the coffin once, his "it's a secret. (smiles)" as a response to being asked what his thoughts were on jing yuan in a JAPANESE MAGAZINE THEY REALLY DROPPED LORE IN A PART ONLY JP WOMEN AND POSSIBLY QUEERS WOULD READ
there's still nothing about whether this is also part of jing yuan's calculations or if this will throw him off guard,,,
AAAA I NEED ANSWERS HOYOVERSE WHY DO YOU DO THIS TO ME

One time, Ayato wakes up drenched in sweat within the cuddle pile.
It doesn't usually happen a lot, but when it does, he's spooked. Flashes of red, black, and the rays of moonlight blur in his vision as his heart beats rapidly of its own accord.
This is the same guy that has had to survive attempts on his life for a number of years and bear the brunt of any ill intentions directed at the Kamisato Clan.
You can't tell me that his parents weren't poisoned to some extent. It's impossible to convince me otherwise.
So it would come as no surprise to me that he was paranoid about having poisoned food brought to him or assassins hidden in the corners of the bedroom for some time during the time of his parent's passing.
He tries to tell himself it's fine, but then he thinks of his sister and Thoma, and he gets the urge to check up on them to see if they're fine even though they aren't even within the vicinity. He's usually able to brush these off, but this is one of the rougher nights.
He looks to his companions in their slumber, and he attempts to settle for their sakes if not his own. Thoma's form lying motionless on the ground and a shadow looming over his sister in slumber flicker in his mind again and he cannot settle.
The sweat feels too much like the blood that his bleeding body had lain in, broken, useless, and helpless as the people he loves are killed with no resistance. His throat clenched and tied itself in knots as if inflamed by any poison or toxin that made its way into his bowels, his skin pale and clammy as blue veins carved through, carrying the deadly toxins that would make their way to his heart.
As the pillar he stands tall, silent, and reliable, bearing the weight of his namesake and his duties for the sake of others. He must do so for his friends beside him, he must be constant and unwavering and bring peace and assurity. For his family, this need is all the more amplified and necessary for them to thrive as they were meant to do.
But the foundations of one can wear away with the forces of time and nature all the same.
He isn't sleeping tonight.
--------
As much as Yelan and Diluc most certainly have their own issues and traumas, Ayato has his own and tends to minimalize them for the sake of the people he loves. I don't think he'd care if he was hurting that much as long as it was for the people he cares about.
So how about that for the Bully the Fatui Brigade to deal with if Ayato even lets them know about it?
So the Bully Brigade, in my humble opinion. Is a found family. They aren't always the best at talking about things, but that's because they understand each other's pains without it really needing to be spoken. And they find different things within friendship.
Diluc finally sees it as a place where he can relax and, just for once in his life simple life. And Yelan finds a place where she doesn't have to lie. Where there is no pressure to hide or tell the truth. And Ayato finds people who want to hang out with him. Because they like him and not because they want something from him.
And Ayato is a little more serious about the close relationship between the 3. And Again, Diluc's the youngest of the group and has trouble talking positively about his childhood. Ayato hates that. In some ways, he sees himself and Ayaka. And he'll do anything to protect these people. He absolutely refuses this comfortable place to be taken from Diluc.
It's particularly hard on nights when they just fell asleep together. Diluc would absolutely wake up (being a pretty light sleeper). And You know Diluc is just as protective if not more so in different way. They probably end up waking Yelan and together Diluc and her can get Ayato to express his anixties about being a pillar. And Diluc and Yelan both hug him very tightly and it the best way they can express to him. He isn't alone in this. He doesn't need to protect them they are are together in this.

I find it interesting how mission-focused Artemis is being in this episode and the previous one. When you look at these exchanges and are unaware of what happens later, it can come across as though Minako is being pressured into this by Artemis. He's the one telling her to fight alone (which she then affirms), to be the Princess, to carry out the mission.
I wonder if this is actually a change in motivation or if he's adopted this role to help Minako stay on track. Because as we find out later, Minako is even more devoted to the mission than Artemis is.
Tumblr media
On another note, I remember needing some time to adjust to Komatsu Ayaka's line delivery at first. I had a similar feeling with Azama Mew/Makoto, as Azama tended to hold back on inflection when her character was first introduced.
But during this rewatch, I've noticed both of those initial impressions were just that. Makoto was only like that because she was in stoic loner mode and, later on, really damn tired of the world screwing her over.
Similarly, Komatsu's first impression includes some voice-overs, and those do start out quite stiff. But when you finally get to see Minako properly, Komatsu conveys quite a lot with her deliberately restrained performance. And her line delivery is much better in person, even though she's actually acting by herself in this scene.
All in all, while the acting definitely improved over the course of the show, I have great respect for the five leads' performances even in their early episodes. Most of them were inexperienced in one way or another and although there was a script and direction, they had to craft new versions of these characters themselves. That's quite a task for 14 to 16 year-olds.

#inazuma, the land of eternity.
—relationship headcanons for all inazuma characters
CHARACTERS. Ayaka, Baal, Kazuha, Kokomi, Gorou, Sara, Thoma/Tohma, Yae, Yoimiya; gn!reader
THEMES. fluff w/ character analysis:)
WARNINGS. spoilers up ahead! not much more like the basics of who they are and what they do + places in inazuma. nothing major unless maybe for ayaka? just a few implications for her story quest.
NOTES. this definitely took awhile to make! i have no regrets though:) also, this is very long time wow the dedication,,, anyway i think i blotched this whole thing but enjoy!! most are written based on how i analyzed them just a heads up!
Tumblr media
AYAKA
Of course, the Shirasagi Himegimi is a well-known individual in the whole of Inazuma. With her identity alone, it may be difficult to loiter around without gaining attention from onlookers.
Nonetheless, it’s not a hindrance for you to bond with your beautiful girlfriend. Actually, this will only prompt the both of you to go and sneak outside probably with disguises or masks on so that there will be no one interrupting you. You’d both throw a fit of giggles and all whenever you two passed by someone familiar, probably her own brother or Thoma.
Your favorite place together however is the Chinju Forest. Not only is it near the Kamisato Residence but also because there are no monsters or people there. The surrounding is peaceful and beautiful as well.
Dancing for you while you two are alone? Definitely. She would even offer her hand and may take yours to join her. Don’t know how to dance? She doesn’t mind! She might even teach you how, or atleast guide you with your hands together. At first it might be silly but by the time you two had gotten serious, which is an easy feat to achieve really since she’s used to hold a serious facade, only this time it’s not just a facade.
She’s serious because she’s realizing just how you make her feel and that she, once again, is in awe that she has you now by her side.
“Thank you for being with me, I promise you that I’ll protect you and care for you as much as I can as gratitude of your love and kindness. Please, will you dance with me?”
BAAL
Is a strict lover, probably even the most protective out of everyone else. She may seem like she is pretty detached to you atfirst glance but she cares deeply inside nonetheless.
We don’t really know much about her yet but I feel like it’s difficult to spend time with you, especially since she seems to be the type to do her work seriously and not spend a single second wasting her time, not that you are a waste of time, no.
Point is, she’s a god. She should or would appear as emotionless all the time and she is also quite busy running the whole nation.
Also, public appearances are a no go. She doesn’t permit you to take her outside for the sole reason that it is to protect your identity.
She might take you out sometimes, but it is very rare, and most likely at nights. She might even stop the storm for you, wherever you two might go.
I feel like she shows her soft spot to you more often than not. She lets her guard down when you two are away from the eyes of others, often reaching out her hand and a soft look on her eyes as she does so. Normally, no words leave her lips since that gaze was enough for you to sense that it was her way of saying thank you--for staying by her side all this time, to eternity and beyond.
“Can you stay with me for eternity? Are you willing to? For… me, you say. If that is what you wish, then I shall grant it for you.”
KAZUHA
Is probably the best lover out of everyone, no cap. But that’s just at first glance, actually. He holds many thoughts inside his head, words he can never say aloud, memories he can never relive in terms of practicality.
Nonetheless, it wouldn’t stop him from showing his love and devotion to you. No matter how much he seems like he carries more than a few burdens deep inside his heart.
Loves dates with you all around Liyue, most likely. Taking you to eat is the most important time of his life. You will never miss a meal when you’re dating him, I tell you.
And he composes you haikus most of the time! If he is away, he might even send a bird to you with a paper on its beak or so and written there is a new haiku composed of how much he misses you and longs for you and so on.
Definitely is into hand-holding while walking down the harbor or even on the ship as you two are perched somewhere where the wind can pass you both easily.
“You have captured my heart, I take it you’ll bear responsibility for it, won’t you, dove?”
KOKOMI
Everyone is absolutely jealous of your relationship—not necessarily in a bad way though.
She treats everyone fairly and equally, but you? You—she pampers on a daily, if not per second, basis.
Definitely, the type to call you “honey” or “sweetie,” a replacement of the “comrade” she once called you along with everyone else.
On second thought, she might be calling you lots of sweet nicknames. And they don’t absolutely sound cringe-y when they came from her lips! It’ll just leave you flustered and on her grasps seriously.
She is incredibly busy though, so there is only limited time for you both. No worries! She always makes it up for you because she’s sweet like that:(
“Ah, there goes my lovely Y/n! How about we eat lunch together? Come, I shall cook for you as an apology for being away for so long.”
GOROU
Is a busy man, let’s get this point out more often than not. He is the general of the resistance and it shows that he definitely plays a big role indeed.
Training members, answering inquiries, assisting in the planning; the list goes on.
Although he does make time for you, at the very most capacity that he can. Eating and sitting with you during meals, letting you stand by his side whenever he walks around the camp, and even holding your hand while doing so.
He is also very protective. He would absolutely never let you go to the front lines unless it is absolutely necessary. He just couldn’t see you get hurt, and it would also make him lose his focus. So it’s best if he would be worryless while in battle if you were staying behind safely at the camp.
If you get even a small injury I tell you he’s going feRaL. Well, if it is caused by the battle, that is, On second thought, if you accidentally caused it yourself he might even reprimand you for that because poor boy doesn’t like seeing you hurt:(
“You must be careful next time, sweetheart. Does it hurt? There, I dressed it for you now-oh? You want me… to kiss it better? What-” he sighs, “How can I ever say no to you?” internally screaming rn
SARA
She is very considerate of your well-being. And very protective as hell. Anyone who dares disrespect your privacy earns an earful from her.
If you have conflicting beliefs, then that might be a problem. She wouldn’t want to see you on the different side, but she definitely would respect you if that’s your decision.
She probably wouldn’t even have the heart to hurt you… maybe try to capture you if it’s necessary but hurt you? No.
Dates with her is probably mostly private, partly for your safety and one part because she prefers it that way.
Okay but taking her around outside if she’s not busy? She might even let down her guard when you do so.
“This is… I had a good time, I shall thank you for that.” she’ll say with a small smile on her face and when I say she looks beautiful like that, she absolutely does, you’d probably stare at her in awe of such a sight.
THOMA
Is very fun to be with; he can make you smile, laugh, or even holler. Although he does many different things that you yourself wouldn’t want to involve in his business most of the time.
Another one who loves calling you pet names. He definitely calls you ones that make you cringe most of the time just to tease you or have a good laugh for the both of you. He just loves seeing you react to them, well unless if he stepped out of line, which is rare anyway.
He is a natural giver, and he would get flustered if he receives something from you; may it be a gift, a praise, an i love you, or hugs or kisses, absolutely anything. He just becomes happy with that, yknow?
Also protective, I mean it’s his job so he would naturally want to keep you safe and sound. But it doesn’t mean he wouldn’t take you out on dates. Actually, he might be the one who would do that more often than everyone, maybe aside from Yoimiya.
He loves treating you around town, anywhere. He actually likes it when people greet you two and they say that you two are a good couple, it swells his pride, you see.
“Ah yes, of course, you see that too huh, don’t you? See that, honey? Even Taroumaru agrees to me!”
YAE
Much like Ayaka’s, it is difficult to go out with your lovely Lady without as much as an interruption from any other person.
Dates in Mt. Yougou? Just roaming around while petting the foxes and talking to each other? Definitely. The peaceful atmosphere is very calming that even someone like her could cast her worries and work aside while she’s there with you.
She would mostly talk about the customers they had or the cases they covered, nothing too private to share to you, just sharing her line of thought on the people in general.
Also, the place is not too far from her work so she can go back if she is suddenly needed. After all, she still is the head of the Grand Narukami Shrine. She cannot possibly not take responsibility of that.
She is also a private person, me thinks. She would rather show her affections to you in private, whenever you two are alone. It’s mostly her initiating kisses, actually. She loves seeing your reaction right away and may even tease you for it.
“Flustered now, are we? Now, now, was it not you who asked me out first? You should have readied for this kind of treatment yourself, no?”
Also, she does seem very observant. She may even know you like the back of her hand by just observing your actions and your words. So if you say that it’s alright even if she’s busy and she’s not giving you attention, she’ll see if you’re lying and would do her absolute best to finish whatever task she needs to finally have time for you.
YOIMIYA
She is also fun to be with! Exhilarating might be the proper word, honestly. She is the embodiment of energy and joy.
I bet she may even be the best candidate for best dates award. She’s not busy so often plus she always knows her way around!
Fireworks festival dates are a given for her. But actually, she does have times when she is silent and you would notice that every once in awhile if you two are along and are not out running errands, just on a simple date with a tricolor dango on your hands perhaps.
When she is silent, it tells just how much she is enjoying your company and how peaceful she is at your presence. She might even lean her weight onto you for a bit as you two silently watch the ocean from up ahead.
“I like this, you know. Being one with silence and enjoying the breath of fresh air. Somehow, I don’t feel like I’m in a rush with you. I think it’s a good thing, right?”

Characters: kokomi, Ei , and ayaka
Pronouns for reader: gender neutral/ not mentioned
A/n: hello again! Thank you for requesting, I don’t have anything really to say so I hope you enjoy!
Tumblr media
— kokomi —
Thinks your adorable! But also why a panda?
Loves going diving with you, and you shapeshift into a little fish :)
Probably pets you as like… a way to decompress, and calm down when she’s stressed.
Thinks it’s cute when you carry her as a panda, it makes her feel so safe.
— Ei —
Confused???
Why a panda? How’re you a shapeshifter? What can you shapeshift into? Why a panda?
Thinks you’re adorable though, and will remind you do that all the time
Takes you to meetings with her, and everyone’s like “what’s with the panda?” And she simply and casually says “oh that’s my partner.”
Thinks it’s cute when you do things, like even training. She thinks it adorable until you rip apart a training dummy.
Will probably ask to see what you look like as a human at least twice (she’s just kinda curious)
— ayaka —
“Ayak and her panda lover” is what most people say when you walk around inazuma
She doesn’t care, you’re adorable, and she thinks it’s really cool that you can shapeshift
She won’t ask you to shapeshift into other things, but you do occasionally shapeshift to impress her.
Loves it when you shapeshift into a swarm of butterflies, and then back into a panda. It’s so mesmerizing to her.
Really likes cuddling with you, it makes her feel so safe and warm.

I’M COLD AND YOU BURN.
pairing: kamisato ayaka/gender neutral reader (platonic, romantic)
category/warnings: angst + bodyguard!au + (implied) friends to lovers, major character death, reader has a pyro vision
note: this got deleted together with the ask im gonna eat my own hAND
Tumblr media
for as long as she could remember, kamisato ayaka has always felt cold.
it was a feeling that never seemed to leave her, no matter what. she felt cold while taking baths and in the hottest inazuman weather — all the clothes and dresses she’d put on herself never seemed to help. her fingertips were always so pale and her face never warm.
she doesn’t remember how it started or when — it felt as if it was that way since the beginning, maybe even long before her mom died. she wonders if that was the start or maybe the sudden absence just made her aware of the feeling. not as if it mattered anymore — she got used to it (or maybe just told herself that she did) and she didn’t focus on it. or at least, she tried not to.
and maybe that’s why she’s so unsure of what’s happening when she meets you. you’re carrying a sparkle in your eye and a smile never graces your face, yet you still feel oddly warm. it’s a little bit awkward between the two of you. you don’t talk a lot but the silence between you is comfortable. somehow, she doesn’t feel the fake need to strike up a conversation with you. you’re beyond professional, of course you are; you are supposed to protect the eldest daughter of the kamisato clan, after all and yet, ayaka can’t help but want you to loosen up.
(“please, do you have to keep on calling me miss? ayaka will do just fine.”)
(“if you say so, miss kamisato.”)
the first time it happens, she actually stops breathing, because the sight of you smiling — smiling at her — makes her want to cry. she doesn’t know why or how you became so close to her so quickly but she doesn’t complain. it feels nice; to have a friend in someone, for once. somehow, even though you were her bodyguard, it felt more as if a friend was accompanying her for multiple occasions.
(“this will go both ways; i’ll protect you too.”)
when you call her pretty, she blushes. furiously. she hides her face behind her fan but doesn’t protest when you being up your hands and move it away to get your face closer to hers. she blinks while you have her hands in a gentle hold and blushes even harder when you softly lay your lips on hers after she shyly nods. you smile after that and she hides her face in your chest. she feels warm, hot, overwhelmingly so and the cold is nowhere to be felt.
(“you’re quite cute, my lady.”)
(“…no, you are.”)
you gave her a necklace, once. it was small and you seemed unsure while gifting it to her, but she cherished it like no other piece of jewelry she owned. it was a simple one, with just a little moon and a star adorning it, which seemed to glisten in the moonlight. it was lovely, more lovely than anything to her and she wore it every day. even if it was invisible, she still had it. it filled her with a sense of peace.
(“i know it’s nothing grand, but i’d… still like you to have it.”)
“it was an honor to serve you,” you say with a soft smile on your face. you started to smile much more often lately, she noticed subconsciously.
“no,” she repeats, over and over, her eyes wide and her hands trying to stop your bleeding. there is blood everywhere, everywhere on your body and everywhere on her clothes, but she doesn’t care, doesn’t care, because you’re dying — and maybe if she was just a little bit quicker, just a little bit smarter—
“you told me you wouldn’t leave me, remember? we’re still supposed to visit all the festivals together, and, and you told me you’d take me to liyue— and to mondstadt and to sumeru to see the academia,” she desperately tries to keep you with her, for you to not close your eyes, because she wants you to stay.
(kamisato ayaka wants to be selfish for the first time in forever, yet she doesn’t get to. the world is still not kind enough to let her be selfish. to let her want things for herself. for people to stay.)
“live for the both of us, will you, ayaka? your life is worth so much more than mine.”
she’s cold and you burn — you still burn, ever so brightly and warmly and she feels the ice envelop her once again. it squeezes the air out of her lungs and makes her struggle to breath and she screams for someone, anyone, to help.
but no one comes. and so you die in her arms while she’s swallowed by the coldness once again. the only warmth that she feels, is the one slowly disappearing from your vision, along with the fiery red that used to fill it.

·ૈ 𝐋𝐈𝐕𝐈𝐍𝐆 𝐎𝐍 𝐋𝐈𝐄𝐒 ── 𝐊𝐀𝐙𝐔𝐇𝐀 𝐈𝐌𝐀𝐆𝐈𝐍𝐄
── to him, you were nothing but an adventurer, a young soul that wished to get a taste of what the world had to offer, especially the sea, so he never questioned it when you departed. to you, he was nothing but a samurai that had decided to take shelter within Liyue's lands with no other intention than finding safety, but was that really the truth?
── gn ; angst ; 4k words ; SPOILERS FOR THE INAZUMA ARCHON QUEST (prologue - act 3) ; reader is a minor deity in inazuma ; slight toxic relationships (?) ; injuries, death and battle ; reader has an electro vision and uses a katana ; reader’s given name is mitsuyo ; betrayal ; adoptive (overprotective) mothers ei and beidou cause i said so.
── a/n - oh goodness i wasn't expecting it but this might have multiple parts oh no. um, i would like to throw a thought out there, a little headcanon inspired by ayaka’s line: when thunder strikes (“her excellency... what is she trying to communicate?): rain and storms happen whenever the shogun is in a foul mood.
── part 1 ; part 2 ;
Tumblr media
Inazuma City had always been your home, from the moment the Raiden Shogun agreed to let you roam its paths freely, to the night you spent watching the port disappear in the horizon as Beidou's ship carried you away. It was the one place you let your heart in and refused to budge on your loyalty for it. For its ruler. It was especially hard when you grew up right before the Raiden's very eyes, her hands caressing your hair like a mother would as she took you to watch the everlasting sakura trees, her eyes, cutting yet so filled with love, protectively finding their way to you no matter what situation you were in, because contrary to what they all thought, The Raiden was capable of feeling a mother's worry, and her heart was kinder than she showed.
On the contrary, ever since the electro archon began closing down Inazuma's borders and ever since vision hunters mercilessly separated vision from the master, only to lay them down at Baal's feet, Kazuha's opinion on Inazuma had drastically changed. Of course, if given the opportunity to return once everything settles down, he would ponder upon it, but for now, he was more than content with sailing with Beidou or exploring the vast lands and culture of Liyue. Before your faithful meeting, his hands always held a masterless vision, his fingers gently tracing the empty crystal as he watched the sea before them. It was his promise to his late friend, and for better or worse, he would keep it no matter what.
You met Kazuha in one early spring when Alcor had docked in Liyue Harbor with no other intention than stocking up on supplies, at least that's what he thought. His assumptions, however, were quickly dismissed when he noticed an unfamiliar figure speaking with Beidou shortly after their arrival, nonchalantly following the woman on the deck and down to the Captain's quarters, as if you've done that a dozen times before, and his crimson eyes couldn't help but spot the vision that rested at your cloak's collar, pinning the long material in place. It was an electro vision, no, not only that, it was an Inazuman vision, and you paraded it around as though the vision hunters did not even exist.
For the following hours, as the Alcor began sailing again, he didn't hear a single word about you and Beidou from the crew, like it was some kind of unspoken rule they couldn't bend, and for once, Kazuha felt unable to predict the outcome of the said situation.
You emerged on the deck when the moon had long replaced the sun and when the never-ending stars dotted the skies. And of course, he was still there, sitting on the edge of the ship and watching the sea before him before feeling the back of his head burning like someone was watching him, and that was when he saw you. This time around, the young samurai had managed to spot your face and features, a strange sense of familiarity taking him by surprise without a single reason he could name. Kazuha had also noticed that you left behind your cloak, revealing traditional Inazuma clothes in shades of purple and white and the electro symbol almost everywhere. The vision you mastered was now attached to the heavy material of your obi with thick crimson threads keeping it in place.
The more he watched you, the more he felt intrigued, just who were you, and what were your reasons for boarding the Alcor? Even if your smile was gentle, everything about you hinted at a rougher personality, every move and word seeming premeditated, as though you had to abide by a certain list of rules whenever you interacted with the ones around you. Either way, as Kazuha watched you approach the mainmast, all he could think of was the gentle dance of falling sakura flowers during early April, their peaceful descent interrupted by a gust of wind... However, before he could finish the verse in his mind, he found himself snapped out of his thoughts by your voice, respectfully greeting him, to which he only replied with a simple wave.
"It's a rather peaceful evening, wouldn't you say so?" The samurai had not expected you to pay him any mind, much less to start a conversation, therefore his eyes widened slightly as your own stared right through his, waiting patiently for his reply. For a second, Kazuha's words began escaping his grasp, forgetting the witty lines he planned on replying with the instant you smiled his way, and all he could do was avert his attention back to the ocean and nod shyly. "Even so, I feel a storm brewing."
"I expect nothing less, we are heading towards Inazuma." You hummed in response. Even if the sky seemed clear, it would not be long before furious electro storms would begin unfolding, yet the captain had decided to take a couple of hours off duty, claiming that every minute of peace is worth enjoying, and who were you to stop her, even if you knew better. The samurai's eyebrows shot upwards yet he tried to conceal it as he joined you on the main deck, his hand resting nonchalantly on the sword at his hip in an attempt to hide his ever-growing worry. He muttered a single "Is that so?" before leaving the conversation as it was, only assuming that you were a wandering adventurer, choosing to return home after so long. Yet one thing he refused to live down was the way your eyes hardened as you noticed his anemo vision, glowing freely in teal colours, that was the only time he ever felt uneasy in your presence.
That was also when he decided that hiding the hollow vision of his late friend around you was for the best.
His assumptions were proven right by Beidou herself as soon as they left you on Ritou the next morning. The Samurai went into hiding underneath the main deck, waiting patiently for news or for the captain to collect him, therefore he did not witness the way your favourite attendant personally welcomed you. Golden eyes were analysing every single move the captain did as she received her payment. You knew, from experience, that all Sara wished for was to lunch forward and take a hold of the violet jewellery Beidou wore at her hip. Oh how much pleasure it would have brought her, but with a single sigh, she turned her body around, bowing respectfully to you. One of her hands eagerly opened her raven feathered fan, hiding her lips behind it as she muttered her words your way. "Your mother is anticipating your arrival, master. This way." And you followed without a single word in Beidou's direction.
To say that you were friendly with the captain was an understatement, as both of you have been sailing together for years, even if she did not quite agree with the harsh change in your demeanour the moment your dear other announced the vision hunt, but she refused to let go of your friendship even when you began walking on the wrong path. That was what she told Kazuha when he asked about you... Yet she replaced most of it with a vague metaphor. Her loud laughter was heard all over the Alcor as she told stories of your antics, especially the one in which you slayed a cryo abyss mage with a simple flicker of your fan, all because it was, and she quoted, "an inconvenience" to you.
At that time, you were young and carefree, and even if you were everything the Shogun would call “perfection” in front of Inazuma’s people: quiet, elegant, humble, not to mention obedient with a natural talent for the katana placed in your hands and the electro vision at your obi - whenever the Alcor stopped by, your true personality would come forward. She missed these moments, she missed your witty remarks and your impulsive decisions. She missed you.
All too soon, the young Samurai began admiring the idea of you so much that he'd write flowery poems about your adventures, yet he'd deny the idea of his ever-growing infatuation with you whenever Beidou pointed it out. "All great adventurers must have at least one poem to speak of their bravery." He hummed, and Beidou rested her hand on his shoulder as a way of encouraging him. What she truly wanted to do, however, was warn him that you were no good omen, and you were not brave, but simply so arrogant and sure of your abilities that no opponent even shocked you anymore.
You were not an adventurer, but a mere puppet that made sure that the Shogun's will was carried out flawlessly, both within Inazuma and outside. That's all you were to the archon of eternity, and how she wished you could see that yourself.
After about two weeks, the Alcor docked once again in Ritou, welcoming you aboard without any questions spoken. You once again followed the captain down to her cabin and once again spent most of your time there, discussing payment and the business you had to complete in Liyue this time around. "Fugitives have been taking shelter on the shores neighbouring Liyue as of late. I was tasked with putting a number to the mass so expect me to linger for a while longer aboard." The way you stated it so nonchalantly made Beidou’s eyes harden, suddenly curious if you told your dear mother about the one lingering about on the Alcor, and as if reading her mind, a strange smile spread on your lips, wider and wider until you had to bring out your fan to conceal it. “Do not worry, your little friend is in good hands with me.”
Yet you let it go unsaid, hanging in the air in a way that would be impossible to miss. Kazuha is in good hands with you for now. Watching your eyes shine with mischief, Beidou couldn't help but think that you didn't deserve the praises the samurai sang for you day and night, you didn't deserve the admiration he had for you and the high pedestal he kept you on. Yes, you were like a child to her before, but now... Now, as the captain watched you with fear growing in the pit of her stomach, she found that she couldn't recognise the person you've become.
Silence seemed to suffocate her for a while before the sound of your steps on the old wood broke it. You were heading back to the main deck, the smile fading off your pretty face while your movements became rigid and cold. No, this wasn't the same person she's been sailing with for years and years, the person now standing before her was a complete stranger now.
"You swore to remain loyal at all costs, what's on this ship remains on this ship and I won’t let your betrayal go unpunished, even if it pains me." She threatened, but it didn’t seem to get to you as you vanished behind a corner. What she didn’t get to see, however, was the way your eyes grew sad while pondering her words. Before thinking twice, your lips parted and a silent “I’m aware.” came out, just as your hands gracefully closed your fan and tucked it under the red obijime cords.
Just like before, you found Kazuha sitting on the railing of the ship. One of his legs was up, his arm resting on it, while the other swung freely off the edge. He seemed to admire the peacefulness of the sky, despite barely making it out of an electro storm. He hummed to himself while composing little haikus, and one of them had just happened to catch your attention. “Steady rain drips. Dance pollen off tea leaves..” you waited patiently for the last line, yet it didn’t seem to come at all, his humming stopping altogether.
“We meet yet again.” His words came out of nowhere, his head turning softly as crimson eyes met your gaze. It was as if relief painted his features, a strange sense of closure making his shoulders relax at the sight of you. His gentleness, however, did not go unnoticed, making you wonder with a guilty conscience what made the awkwardness of the first meeting and the unease on his shoulders fade away. She probably talked highly of you, you thought, even if she’d turn around and drink until there was no alcohol in her possession, to drown away the memories.
“I’m afraid that it is as you say. May I join you for tonight, kind sir?” Step after step, you found yourself standing closer to the ronin. His calm gaze made you feel trapped and stripped of all of your secrets, as though he could see right through your facade. “Please, call me Kazuha... And only if you do not shy away from a cup of sake.”
And so you’ve found yourself seated at a table with a cup of sake gently pinched between your thumb and index finger, the other hand ghosting near it elegantly. While you put every ounce of your being in remaining true to the Inazuman traditions, Kazuha seemed way more laid back, casual if you could say so and the difference was so noticeable he found himself giggling as he pointed it out, his pale skin kissed with reddish hues, crimson eyes tired yet filled with admiration, long, silver locks framing his face perfectly… He was quite breathtaking, even as intoxicated as he was now.
“It sure seems like the Mighty Shogun has a lot on her mind.” He mumbled quietly, mostly to himself as his eyes watched the ocean before you. Once again, it was calm and quiet, not even waves disturbing its peace, but the smell of rain hung tightly in the air, obscuring the salty scent of the water underneath. Rain was coming. The moment you realised it, the image of your mother’s face flashed before your eyes, making your hands shake and your lips to part in a silent gasp. Eternal as she looked there, meditating, her eyebrows were furrowed and her lips pressed tightly in a thin line. Distress.. Another nightmare.
“I must admit, you seem like quite the lonely soul.” The samurai shifted his position softly, making sure to face you directly as he spoke this time around. He noticed instantly the way you snapped out of whatever thought you were caged in, startled like a deer faced with a hunter, and he couldn't help himself from pointing it out.  It scared you... Yet it reassured you as well. To think that a stranger understood you with just a simple look, venerated you without even knowing you, it was so foolish but you knew that within the heart of Kaedehara Kazuha, you’ve found a gold mine. that alone brought your smile back, head shaking away the thoughts of eternity that plagued your mind and focusing solely on the individual before you. “Well, wandering samurai of Inazuma, would you care to humour a lonely soul like mine with another of your mighty tales?”
"First and foremost, I shall humour you with my presence…"
That night, after retreating to your cabin, you found yourself with a troubled mind once again. The image of your mother’s face, full of worry and uncertainty was deeply engraved in your head and all you could think of as you left your heavy accessories hit the floor. “Mistress Ei... Just what is bothering you?” Sparks of electricity greeted you as your fingers began pulling free the vision tied at your obi, but its light was weak and insignificant compared to the candle shining on your nightstand.
"Your Excellency..." You called, your eyes closing and your body becoming weightless in the hands of her divine powers. It felt as though you were being pulled upwards, your body settling in a sitting position even midair, and while one of your feet remained touching the wooden floor underneath, the other rested in your lap. When you opened your eyes again, you were no longer on the Alcor ship under Beidou's rule.. You were where no one else besides you and Yae Miko had ever entered before. The Plane of Euthymia.
"Mitsuyo." The archon spoke, her voice kind despite the darkness that surrounded the domain. You mirrored her pose perfectly, and while your fingertips traced the gem at your vision, her eyes hardened. It was a thought  neither of you needed to voice out, eyes already speaking a million of words that lips could not. An unspoken conversation only the two of you could have.
"Be careful, my child. I have faith in you."
Most of your time aboard the ship was spent by Kazuha's side after that, relishing in the calming aura that he carried with himself and his sweetened stories. To anyone outside of your duo, it looked as though you were toying with your prey, to you, however, it felt like a breath of fresh air. Even after returning with a heavy heart after hunting down refugees in Liyue, all you'd need to forget about your troubles was a mere glimpse of his crimson eyes. And he was more than happy to indulge you with that.
Soon, however, he began noticing the little things that no one dared to point out before, perhaps because they didn't notice them, or maybe because they feared to. Beidou had chosen to remain completely silent when it came to you, and whenever he'd ramble like a love sick fool, the captain would just look away and act as though she was detaching herself from reality. He also noticed the way your scent was different from anyone else's in a way he couldn't quite explain. You smelled of sakura blooms and sparks of electricity even after months spent on the ocean, and you carried that distinct aroma with you whenever you went.. A smell of royalty, divinity, one he's only felt while facing Yae Miko or the shrine maidens.
He also noticed the way your face became rigid as Beidou read out loud the letter Priestess Kokomi addressed the crew, a request for joining a battle that would happen at the Nazuchi Beach. As he felt his chest becoming full of determination, the last thing Kazuha could imagine was the betrayal he would face in just a couple of days.
He dared to become bold after walking you to your cabin the evening before the ambush, gripping your wrist gently as a way of stopping you from leaving him and he pulled you in his embrace tightly. If Kazuha had learned a thing as a samurai, it was that this second you're standing with the person you cherish so deeply.. and the next you find yourself breathing your last puff of air, wishing you could've told them just how much you loved them, only to find that it was too late. If tonight was the last one, he refused to leave behind any unsaid words.
The ronin had one of his hands cupping your face gently while the other remained on your wrist, bringing you impossibility close until his lips brushed against your forehead, then against your cheek and finally, collided with your own. Even when the sweetness of your shared kiss was drowned by the saltiness of your tears, he did not dare to let you go, fearing that it would be the last time he ever got to hold you like he did now. "Kazuha.. I'm so sorry." Was all you could say, and while the samurai could feel the sorrow in your words, all he could focus on was the guiltiness you tried so deeply to cover.
He let it go that one time, choosing to shush away the red flags in his mind with another one of your intoxicating kisses, then another and another until daybreak forced you two to part.
Beidou did not expect you to join their side when the time came, but that alone could never stop disappointment from creeping through. When the battle began, Kazuha and Beidou wasted no time before jumping in, yet you remained in the back, watching as swords clashed against swords and as bodies fell left and right. You stood still on the edge of the sunken ship, next to the Priestess Sangonomiya Kokomi herself, and watched it all unfold with emptiness in your eyes. Just as Kazuha seemed to nod in Gorou's direction, she gave you an understanding smile, full of pity, even if, under any circumstances, you were none other than her biggest enemy.
"That's enough!" your voice rang over the battlefield, powerful enough to put the battle cries to shame, and everything seemed to still at once. The resistance began looking amongst themselves with confusion in their eyes while the decree simply left their weapons to hit the sand, most of them battling the urge to kneel or bow under your hard gaze, but no one dared to move a single finger, following your orders like obedient hounds. "Your Highness!" Sara's voice broke the silence, hope visible in her eyes and smile returning to her lips.
"What is the meaning of this, Kujou Sara? And why wasn't the Shogunate informed of this.. reckless decision?" The mentioned woman began stuttering, taking a step forward with her free hand at her chest while the other held onto her bow tightly. In her sincere eyes, you saw a misguided child that only followed the path she believed to be true, and because of that, you couldn't bring yourself to yell any longer. You stepped forward yourself, jumping elegantly off the ship and marching forward between the confused soldiers, only to stop when you were face to face with your servant. You were aware of every single pair of eyes that watched you closely, but none felt as burning as his stare did, and just the thought of his saddened expression almost made your knees quiver. "You were supposed to follow my orders only, I thought I made that clear before my departure. Alas, retreat! We shall continue this conversation at Tenshukaku."
It was like every single piece of the puzzle fell in place at once. While the remaining soldiers began cleaning the mess left behind at the beach, Kokomi and Beidou approached him hesitantly. The samurai still stood in the same place, watching you like his life depended on it. His sword clattered as it hit the ground, both of his hands coming to grip the material at his chest as if he was suffocating. The two women had later confirmed that you were no other but the Raiden Shogun's most treasured possession, her one and only remaining child, and their words alone made Kazuha's eyes harden. As he watched you leave along with the decree's troupes, not even daring to turn your head around and spare him one last glance, all he could think of was how much it hurt to lose another loved one. This time around, not to death, but to the filthy claws of betrayal..

Thoma x Reader: Grandma Knows Best
You were sweaty after a long day of combat training. Your Claymore was strapped on your back as you made your way back home. You were a fighter for the Kamisato clan, where they knew you to be a fierce warrior with no mercy. You had been working your way up to higher ranks within the clan, your goal being to become the most trustworthy member you could be. You wanted to be reliable. You wanted the heads of the clan to notice your hard work. But, alas, their most trusted member was not you, but their housekeeper, Thoma. You were sure you could take him on in a fight. It felt so unfair to you that he could get by on his charisma.
You glared daggers at anyone who stared at you for too long. You were fierce and ruthless. The toughest around. But there was one person who you were soft for, and that was grandma. You made your way over to the small cottage you shared with her.
As you stepped through the door, you called out for her, "grandma, I'm home!" You took off your shoes in the hallway and went into the living room, seeing a face you never expected to see in your own home.
Thoma was sitting at your grandma's table with a plate of biscuits and a cup of tea in front of him. Your grandma stood next to him, looking up at you as you walked into the living room.
"There she is!" she said happily. "That's my granddaughter I told you about."
You were shocked by Thoma's presence. "Grandma, why is he here?" you asked.
"Oh, this sweet young man?" She put a hand on his shoulder as she continued, "he was kind enough to help me carry my groceries back home. Isn't that just too sweet of him?"
"These biscuits are amazing, ma'am," Thoma said after he gulped down a mouth full with a sip of tea.
"Oh, thank you so much, sweetie," your grandma said, patting him on the head after receiving the compliment. "It's a family recipe. My little Y/N knows how to make them as well. You know, she's still single, so if you'd like to eat them more often..." she insinuated slyly.
You blushed. "Grandma!" you scolded her for implying something this embarrassing.
Grandma shook her hands in front of her apologetically. "Oh, I'm so sorry, sweetie. Your silly old grandma is embarrassing you. Though, he sure is a handsome young man. If I were your age, I would definitely take my shot." She laughed at her own remark.
Thoma laughed at her in return. "Oh, ma'am, believe me, you're still exceptionally beautiful for your age," he complimented. He winked at her as well for good measure.
"Oh, stop it, you!" grandma lightly slapped him on the shoulder. "Such a charmer you are." She took a look at the table, noticing that the cup is empty. "Would you like some more tea, sweetheart?"
"If it isn't too much trouble," Thoma replied.
"Not at all!" She took the cup and made her way to the kitchen. "Y/N, go sit down. I'll make you a cup as well." And with that she disappeared out of the living room.
"Such a sweet grandma you have," Thoma said. He grabbed another biscuit from the plate. "Do you really know how to make these? I should tell Ayaka and her brother. They would really love these, too."
You cringed. "I'm not in the Kamisato clan to be a baker, though being a maid of sorts does seem to have gotten you up into high ranks."
He laughed at your insult. "Being the housekeeper involves other things than housework," he began. "It's a lot of diplomacy. It can get dangerous sometimes."
"Then why have a weakling like you do it?" you ground out angrily. "I'm stronger than you. I work so hard to get ahead, but they don't trust me." You felt tears well up in your eyes, your cheeks were red from anger.
Thoma was surprised by your reaction. "Y/N," he began, a soothing tone in his voice. "The heads of the clan trust you a lot. You are one of their strongest fighters."
You looked up at him. He was being so kind to you in this moment of weakness, even though you always tried to be cold to everyone around you.
"There is a reason they put you on the frontline. The way you swing around that claymore sends enemies crawling back in fear," he complimented. "Putting you into diplomatic affairs would be a waste of your fighting skills."
You furiously wiped away the tears that fell from your eyes. You can't believe you let Thoma see you like this, the guy you were always so jealous of.
"Here is your tea," grandma said as she walked into the living room with a tray with two cups of steaming hot tea on top. She was smiling, but her smile soon faltered when she saw your tear streaked face. She hastily put the tray on the table and wiped the tears from your face. "Oh, sweetie, what's wrong?" she asked, voice filled with concern.
You just sobbed, unable to speak. "She doesn't believe she's the strongest fighter around," Thoma told your grandma. "Can you believe that, ma'am?"
Your grandma was little shocked, but then smiled at you. "Oh, my dear Y/N, that's nonsense! Everyone knows you're so strong!" she reassured you.
You nodded at her, still unable to speak, but feeling better already. The tears stopped falling from your eyes and you dried the ones on your cheeks.
"You should listen more often to your grandma," Thoma joked. "She seems to know best."
"Again with the charming," grandma said as she waved a dismissive hand at him. "Stop that! The one you should be charming is my beautiful granddaughter!"
You blushed again. Your grandma really can't stop embarrassing you for just a second.
Thoma laughed. "I would like to, but not without your permission. I wouldn't want you to get angry with me, ma'am."
You buried your blushing face in your hands as Thoma played along with your grandmother's stupid games.
"Well, of course! Letting you take my granddaughter out is the least I could do after the help you've given me." Grandma turned to you, tapping you on the shoulder. "Y/N, let this fine gentleman take you out for dinner tonight."
"Grandma!" you groaned into your hands.
Thoma got up from his chair and walked your way, prying your hands from your face. He looked you into the eyes, big smile on his face. "I have to get back to work right now, but I'll pick you up at six tonight."
You were still blushing furiously, but you nodded your head in a yes anyway. Thoma grinned.
"Thank you so much for the biscuits, ma'am," Thoma called out to your grandma as he left the house.
"Well, ain't that nice!" grandma gloated happily. "A sweet young man is taking you out to dinner. I knew he would be a fine match for you. Grandma really does know best."
