At sessions it never fails to surprise us just how motivated and inspiring our Mamas are. Each session we see women who are living the real mum life, lacking in sleep and energy, redefining their identities as a Mama, juggling the many tasks and challenges and giving it their all!

We look around and feel so immensely proud of everyone there for making the effort. Everyone leaves feeling amazing as always!

Each month We would like to choose one of our Mamas who has stood out and motivated themselves and others and say "Well done Motivated Mama!"

This month we are giving a big whoop whoop to Beth Lethaby attending Sweaty Mama Stroud.

Every week, she is always first to arrive to class.

This is so true. I've experienced this as well and it's very upsetting. People should just let us be, even if they don't understand us, it doesn't give them the right to judge and criticise us.

Girls and woman should also stand up for themselves and not be afraid to be their true self. Don't let one negative comment ruin your entire day. We work hard everyday and we shouldn't be pushed down because others disapprove.

We don't work towards living up to the expectations of others. So don't be afraid to stand up for yourself once in a while. There's no harm in defending yourself ladies.

Sexism in the office 101

Yesterday at work one of my female coworkers was reading some celebrity news, someone had accused James Franco of sexual assault. My co-worker is an older woman who’s not really into Hollywood gossip but indulges in it every once in a while so she wasn’t really up to date with the recent developments in the Hollywood sexual assault problems, so I tell her about all of the powerful and even beloved men that have been accused of sexual abuse, or domestic abuse; any type of abuse really.

As I was finishing my long as list of perpetrators another co-worker joins in (also female) and her immediate reaction to this news was and I quote “yeah it’s like a trend right now, I mean people are very sensitive everything is sexually abuse now. Like those girls could have said no” and my other co-worker was nodding as to say she was right. The other two female co-workers that were around listening to the conversation said nothing.

In that moment I felt so sad and angry not at my co-workers of course, but at the way this patriarchal system condition women so well into believing that everything bad that happens to them must be their own fault. So I try to explain how it’s not that simple that this are powerful man and that some of the women were afraid to loose their jobs even their lives, that every case is different some even don’t even internalize what’s going on after it has happened, even years after. I was saying that in everyone of this cases i side first with the victims and at the mention of this word one of my male (and gay btw) co-worker interrupted me saying “why are you calling her a victim, she probably did it to make a movie and or to become famous ”

I was full on rage at this point, like the world is not so fucking black and white get some fucking perspective, for godsakes! I tried (and failed) to calm my self I told him that this shit doesn’t happen in a vacuum women are conditioned to see this kind of behavior as normal male behavior and don’t see how this is hurting them as a group and individuals. I had to explain how any position of power in any work environment can lead to this; especially in a place so above the law and hypocritical as Hollywood and that a lot of the times there was no real consent, told them about Salma Hayek’s struggles with Harvy Weinstein while making Frida. About Madonna and Sean Penn and about how he and other men like Roman Polanski, Woody Allen, Johnny Deep and many others were known abusers and they were still celebrated and working in the industry. Honestly couldn’t even let him finished whatever stupid thing he was trying to say.

Inevitably the topic transitioned to child abuse and It was so curious to see how different people reacted, everybody immediately felt horrified and immediately acused the men when we talked about kids (as they should) even my other two co-workers that before this point were just passively in the conversations added a few reaffirming stories here and there and I could see that they were more keen on my side of the argument on supporting women, but when we were talking about women the first and most inmediate reactions was to question the “honor” of the women to try to invalidate or justify the behavior of this men or to remain silence.

But please tell me again how easy is for women to say no and to accuse the perpetrators of their assaults
