Listen, you should never film strangers in public without their consent, but I swear there need to be fines or something for people who do that shit in some spaces. For example: I had to go to the ER last night, and some jerk filmed a woman who just came in and was clearly having an asthma attack. She immediately got to go back, and he was unhappy about that. Believe me, I get that it sucks having to wait when you're in pain, but you don't get to pick who deserves care when. The medical system in the US is a nightmare, and the ER could be the worst moment of someone's life. No one deserves to be recorded because some jack ass believes someone doesn't look like they need care.

This is fine to reblog. People who film strangers should be shamed if nothing else.

Death Bugs

One of my friends who was a police officer at the time, came into the hospital for an evaluation after being bitten by a fly on the scene of a welfare check. I feel so bad for the first responders and emergency workers who have to do this, some of these scenes can be truly disturbing.

Emergency workers are some of the best at finding humor in the macabre. He smelled like a corpse. I couldn't even stay in the room with him with the door closed. It was obvious wherever he had been, there was decomposition near him. He was a little nervous, but maintained his composure. "So what do you think about this bite?"

I said, "Sounds like death bugs. It might have been what killed that guy!"

His eyes grew wide. He looked terrified. "Are you serious?"

I then realized I went too far. He was actually afraid, "I'm just kidding, no worries".

Another 2 day stretch of night shifts coming my way... sigh May they go quickly 

Having just finally listened to the new The Magnus Protocol and getting introduced to Needles the 'What Do You MEAN I'm Not Scary Enough!?' Avatar of Sharp Poking, I have to say right now that I know in my heart of hearts that he must have so many terrible nicknames among the other avatars

"Hey, Pinhead, how goes the phone spam?" <- stings because originally he chose 'Pinhead' on purpose to reference Hellraiser, but absolutely no one got it until he spelled it out and by then the name was ruined

"What's up, Prick?" <- lowest effort, but still goads him into raising a single massive darning needle middle finger in response

"Kebab, can you hold onto this for me?" <- said before having assorted foods speared on him; fruits, sausage, cheeses, etc. Takes forever to pluck everything off. Even worse when someone just ambushes him with a down comforter and pillows

"This you?" <- no name involved, but always a prelude before being shown a picture of a porcupine

Just. There is no way this faintly jingling pile of pointy things has any respect among the rest of the bogeymen in this universe. I love it

a thunderstorm just hit us really fast and so hard it knocked the power clean out for at least my whole block. we've got several severe weather alerts, so naturally I am standing on my balcony smoking a joint and watching my street flood

So yall remember me bitching last month about the Cardiology BS, I have MORE BS :D they slapped me w/ a 500$ for the heart monitor. My INS doesn't cover it all even though I FUCKING WORK FOR THEM

500$ bill to be told its a condition that doesn't fit with what I'm experiencing past superficial symptoms (I still think it'd POTs or something else Dysautonomic they told me it was Vasovagal) and otherwise be immediately dismissed, after both the Cardio and Neuro did that whole condescending "we'll humor you but you have a vagina so whatever" the whole time

And that's AFTER having to wait over 6 months after my initial Neuro appt last year because they never bothered to schedule me (and then scheduled me w/o notifying me so of course I missed it, and then canceled a follow up b/c I hadn't gotten the tilt table they hadn't set up)

Then I get told none of my symptoms are a big deal, that the condition I supposedly have usually starts to get better in your 20s( I am 34 they have gotten worse. Couldn't even look to see if he got his patients age right) then expected to pay 500$ to a fucking company I work for

Obviously toss me something only if you can, I know everyone is kinda fucked right now. If you can't gimme a share?

when talking about the whole submersible implosion thing, can people be careful not to discredit search and rescue as a whole? its totally possible to both address migrant safety and random freak accidents at the same time. they are not mutually exclusive. i would much rather live in a society that spends millions doing search and rescue for dumbasses who likely deserve to die, than live in a society in which emergency services can openly choose who to save and let die based on perceived cost, class, identity, or morals.
