#byler #will byers #stranger things #every season besides s4-5 opens with non main characters #for el we got a flashback of the lab followed by her perspective in the scene directly after #and I think for Will we will see something similar #with us getting the flashback of him in castle byers in the UD #followed by him in the present in the scene after #but what exactly would warrant that memory being brought up in association with Will in the present?#mayhaps his connection to the mindflayer and the UD run deeper than we realize…#it’s likely not something he could just rid himself of in s2 and now he’s all good #he literally still feels a connection to everything he is feeling #that means he is still technically at risk of being the spy in some capacity #the massacre at Hawkins lab also was a guiding force for El discovering the ‘truth’ in s4 #so it’s likely for Will this instance will operate in a way that re-contextualizes the events in the past up to now #like that time Will suggested they go to the hospital in s3 only for the flayed to be waiting for them #or how flayed Billy knew they were at the cabin…#all while Will was looking cryptic as hell in that scene watching over el #or the fact that he picked Billy in the first place the season after he focused on Will…#you know.. williams #I think the easiest way to introduce the castle Byers flashback is a dream honestly #specifically a dream within a dream #seeing that recent leak and Will looking like either he has a black or hasn’t slept in days #is giving very much ‘I am afraid to sleep bc I’m scared of what will happen’#I think dude is not exactly possessed in the sense that we already saw in s2 with like the particicles #but he’s still vulnerable #the door is still ajar…#no but fr this idea of opening a door in your mind was so blatant in st2 AND s3b of teen wolf #I think a big part of it will be guilting Will over the fact that Will has helped him before without Will telling the others #hence his weird vibe in s3… like he’s already successfully fucked with Will post s2 potentially with us being none the wiser aka here we go

i think i changed my life permanently when i added tandoori masala to my butter chicken i normally make. I used to only add in a sweet yellow curry spice mix but i've started throwing in a second one and it just makes the whole thing so much punchier and well rounded.

#this post brought to you by: me #i. applied for a preapproval letter for a mortgage yesterday. and spoke to a realtor to start finding me houses #i want to move several states away which further complicated things. but the houses there are CHEAP #like under 100k for a 2 bedroom move in ready #anyways i got approved for 80k with a 20k down payment. and im FREAKING THE FUCK OUT #and because i got that pre app letter i have a loan officer calling me today to talk #and we literally work at the same bank so i can SEE that hes active and hasnt read my message #even though its been 45 minutes. KEVIN MESSAGE ME BACK. #not only would it destroy the message of hope and perseverance in the face of personal struggles- the message that’s been a consistent #thread through all four seasons- it would make max’s first “death” scene incredibly pointless when it could have been #so impactful had it been real #obviously i very much want max alive and healthy and happy but there’s something so cinematic and so awe-inspiring about that #shot of max in lucas’ arms with el by her side and the blue light bouncing off their blood-and-tear-soaked faces #before the camera draws back and begins to spin over them... anyway. my point is:#i will be very angry if they end up killing max via coma when they had OPTIONS. well. one option. but it was a really extraordinary option.#her death in s5 despite /everything/ would cheapen the final season immensely and would come off as almost laughably #desperate- but above all so so CRUEL to max and her friends #if she can't live and she can't just die in the attic don't prolong her and her friends' suffering for a far less impactful departure #and furthermore if she can’t live don’t purposefully degrade the meaning and remove the consequences #of a visually and emotionally stunning moment to string along viewers who want to know if max is going to be okay either!!!!#they're already on thin ice from the whole 'el revives max' thing (which i will expand upon in another post) but i've made my peace with it #because it kept max alive and it would actually tear me in two if she died for real but even so. thin fucking ice. to drag max over to #another season after all of that fragile ice walking- only to pass on resolving her arc in a careful way- would be devastating.#in terms of emotional and visual impact we have ‘max actually dying in the creel attic’ up /here/#(imagine my hand hovering slightly above my hairline)#‘max pulling through the coma and learning to survive and thrive’ right /here/ (hand at eyeline)#and ‘max dying at the hospital’ allllll the way down /here/ (hand at stomach)#which would really fucking SUCK #to be clear i think she’s going to pull through the coma (thank god) because a) the duffers are cowarddddds and b) narrative reasons that #i don’t have enough time energy or tag space to elaborate on #but i also have trust issues from this season so i can envision a scenario in which they metaphorically pull the rug out from under #us and we all riot at dawn together <3 #max mayfield #stranger things #s4 spoilers #**#millie talks #st 4

My friend and I went to see Saltburn and went in completely blind (typically we read the whole storyline prior to going). We were not expecting all of that. We agreed that Choices™️ were made that we wouldn’t have made ourselves, haha.

Oh gosh, yeah, haha, I feel like going in blind must've been a bit of a shock.

I kinda knew what to expect because a friend of mine had already told me it was 'if Talented Mr Ripley was dumb' and I'd seen a bit of the press for it so was expecting certain scenes, and look - - I was just commenting to @nakedmonkey, but I do think the worst crime a movie can commit is to be boring, and I don't think it was boring, so it had that going for it at the very least, haha.

Some of the performances were fun (Rosamund Pike in particular is always great), but overall, I just think it was just a really shallow film that was less interested in character arcs or relationships than it was in shock value. It flirted with these rich themes of class and race, power, attraction and intimacy, control and freedom, and it just chose the cheap shot every time. It was more interested in making the audience gasp or cringe than it was in actually having the characters evolve or devolve in a way that - - y'know, told a compelling story, and any shift in a dynamic was handled so limply that it had no real emotional impact.

I don't know. I still had enough fun watching it (my cinema was packed and the audience skewed pretty young, and their response was hilarious), but I just ultimately don't think it had as much to say as it pretended it did.

#the cousin being biracial and born of scandal and trying to get back in was particularly weakly handled tbh #you could tell ef just wasn't particularly interested in exploring the nuances of the different dynamics #also to pretend j*cob el*rdi has an ounce of the beauty talent and charisma as 1999 jude law...#honestly too it confirmed for me i don't love linus sandgen as a dop/cinematographer either #i find his style as lacking here as i did on la la land and american hustle #and i think the only time he's visually interesting or meaningful is when he's imitating other cinematographers #which is wild because i feel like this should've and could've been visually sumptuous and layered #and yet...#of course a part of that is ef's direction too #film asks #definitely low on my 2023 movie list #not the lowest though haha
