Just for fun I mapped the strawhats onto Brian David Gilbert's "Mortal Comfort" Ideal Cuddler Chart. I don't think i have them 100% right but i wanted to start the Discussion yk?

Here is my reasoning (sorta-ranked from most to least ideal according to BDG's criteria, though your personal preference may differ (as does mine)) :

MOST IDEAL STRAWHAT CUDDLER AWARD goes to Jinbe! He is big and soft and kind. I think he would be very good at it. He would take initiative to rub your back and have pleasant conversation, but he let you fall asleep if you wanted to.

Nami: Not a super adventurous cuddler, nor does she do it often. She WILL pickpocket you, so be ready for that. She's probably the closest to normal you're going to get.

Usopp: He needs to fidget with his hands and is happy to comb your hair or rub your back or massage your shoulders, but he's going to talk your ear off whether you like it or not, and he'll whine if you try to leave. Extremely clingy and needy in a cuddle, and his pockets are full of little gadgets and tools that are not super comfortable to lay against.

Luffy: Very enthusiastic but he will not sit still long enough, man is constantly adjusting or twitching. He's prone to squeeze too tight with the wrap-around rubber hugs, and if you aren't paying close attention he WILL put bugs and beetles on you. He's also the type to think it's funny to wipe boogers on you, or put his cold hands up your shirt. If your arm or leg fall asleep he's not gonna move for you, he's gonna think it's funny.

Chopper: He hasn't had enough practice yet, he mostly just wants to be held. Very enthusiastic though. Constantly making sure you're comfortable, to the point where it's distracting/a little annoying.

Brook: Bones are not extremely comfortable, but he is able to summon a cool/chilling wind so the temperature control will be ideal, and he's very polite and gentlemanly when he's not trying to see your underwear. As long as you stack some pillows around him to actually lean against, you're golden.

Robin: She will be up to some freak shit with her devil fruit I know it. Being cuddled by a dozen hands may sound very nice but she will turn them against you, either to tickle you right when you're falling asleep or grab your ankle and let you think it was a monster under the bed. She WILL be up to mischief.

Sanji: Also constantly making sure you're comfortable, much more than necessary, and will dote on you WAY too much while you're trying to sleep. He'll keep getting up to grab water or a snack or another blanket or something and won't just settle into the cuddle unless you make him. Also he is likely to either catch on fire or start violently bleeding from his nose depending on the circumstances.

Zoro: Very open to the idea of cuddling but not an active participant; he just falls asleep. He is essentially a very hard body pillow. (If he WAS actively participating he may match where Robin or Luffy is instead.)

Franky: Not a single part of his body is comfortable or free of hidden guns, but he will damn sure try his best!! He will also try and hold conversation and compliment you, but much too loudly. The enthusiasm is there, but...man he's struggling everywhere else.

1 + 2 are miniatures of two of the six Lady and the Unicorn (La Dame à la licorne) tapestries, created circa 1500.

3 - Jane's folding screen - is made up of the four central panels from this six-panel screen depicting the arrival of a Portugese ship in Nagasaki Harbour, created circa 1600-1625

4* + 5 are miniature chinoiserie-style french tapestries. unfortunately the images seem to be sourced from my nemesis the Pictures Now collection, so tracking down more specific details about them has proved difficult, but what i have found suggests the designs are from the mid-1600s

6 - as far as I can tell, all of Jane's opera posters were created by HeR. if they are recreations of real posters I haven't been able to find the originals. but they definitely used the female figure from this 19th c. Japanese print to make the Madama Butterfly poster! bridgeman calls the print 'Courtesan Turning Head' and credits it to Kitugawa Eizan, but I haven't been able to confirm this because the Rennes Musee des Beaux-Arts collections website doesn't seem to work.

*HeR also used #4 in Message in a Haunted Mansion - it's one of the tapestries decorating the main staircase

Beautiful Mountains While the Shores of Johnson Lake (Banff National Park) by Mark Stevens Via Flickr: A setting looking to the southeast while taking in views across lake waters present in this part of Banff National Park. My thought on composing this image was to keep a leveled-on view with the horizon, keeping a balance between the mountains in the upper portion of the image and the reflections on the lake waters. The other concern I had was metering properly to not blow any highlights in the bright morning sunlight, while still being able to pull the more shadowed areas later in post production. I later worked with control points in DxO PhotoLab 6 and then made some adjustments to bring out the contrast, saturation and brightness I wanted for the final image.

I never really posted many photos but poland was a gorgeous country and I miss walking in the south there a lot :)

With the fastest heroes au- how long would Torino be allowed to keep training hawks? Or what would make him stop training him?

In my draft, I have Torino meeting Hawks while he's age 10, which in my estimate of the timeline has Torino at age 57. My art tends towards a grizzled but not yet shrunken Gran Torino and a skinny adolescent Hawks who isn't quite as babey as when he first got inducted into the HPSC.

Ideally, if I wanted to stretch the AU out, Hawks starts training with Gran Torino at age 8 through 14 (so, ages 55-61 for Torino), ending just before high school. The HPSC makes a lot of noise about the government employee retirement age to pressure Torino away, but it's also a combination of two factors that convinces Torino to stop training Hawks:

They're getting to a point where he's reaching the limit of what he can teach/train. Hawks is developing habits patterned off Torino's moves, and he might be a prodigy in combat but you can only run through so many scenarios with one teacher.

Hawks is obviously itching for a little more independence. And maybe Torino could provide that by running interference for Hawks's 'unsanctioned excursions', but that only puts Torino more firmly in the role of a handler, and Torino doesn't want that job.

Baymax, in every sense, is a continuation of Tadashi's spirit, but he is not Tadashi, and he has a special place in Hiro's heart. Without Baymax, Hiro would never have made it this far. I thought about it many times. Hiro was reminiscing about Tadashi, and when he came back from his memory, Baymax was standing in front of him. Hiro has a lot to say to Tadashi, and he finds he can say it all to Baymax. A lot of the lyrics at the ED in The Japanese version are like this, as if they were addressing Tadashi, as if they were addressing Baymax. Tadashi's spirit of helping others urged Hiro to continue to think of others, and Baymax helped him move on from those dark days so Hiro could do that. Also, there is a lot of "correspondence" between Hiro and Baymax. For example, Hiro made Baymax a suit to fly, but it is Baymax that healed Hiro so that he could "spread his wings and fly." Ah, I am always moved by them...

Being white/East Asian is supposed to be the easy mixed-race combination because Whasians are all so exotic and beautiful, I want a Whasian baby (EW) and Asian is barely a race, so you're basically white (gross racist) and you're light-skinned, and depending on who you're speaking to, white-passing, so obviously you don't experience any real discrimination or oppression (having it easier does not mean nothing hurts us). But instead white people are comfortable saying the weirdest shit around and to you, forcing you to remember there's a gap between you and your friends, and you're not white at all, no matter what everyone tells you (so that's why you get upset at generalizations about white people that aren't true for you... they are true for real white people); but don't you dare make the mistake of thinking you're Asian at all, you fetish baby, you faker, you wannabe (when I was a kid I wanted to dye my hair black so I'd fit in with the girls on the Chinese songs DVD we watched); any time anyone, especially someone dark-skinned ("Black people can't be racist"), says something insensitive to you, only your closest allies (if you have any) will take it seriously (just like with other Asians, but people have more options for you); everybody fucking loves making racist jokes at East Asians "but it's fine because I'm Asian" and you're the only one uncomfortable because you're the only one actually interested in not dividing people based on race, and it seems like you're the only one who (and whose parent) actively doesn't fit the stereotypes (also child abuse ISN'T FUNNY); some monoracial East Asians are waiting every day to throw rocks at you because of your "proximity to whiteness," and they trash the modicums of representation you get as "prioritizing white features" and "worshiping whiteness"; your faves "only got famous out of other Asians because they're closer to white" which might be a little true but not as much as people like to throw rocks for it, making you feel like you're part of the problem for liking them, for liking people like you more than people not like you; and even other Whasians aren't racially conscious half the time so you can't even have conversations about this with them. In fact, there's so many different ways for us to understand our identity that I bet there's another Whasian reading this right now and getting irritated that I'm presenting my own experiences as universal. In-fact-in-fact, I was thinking of a Whasian friend who does the racist Asian jokes thing -- because their mom does fit them. See? Whasian community and identity can only be found for the briefest of moments before all of these fucking Societal Forces tear us apart from inside and out. I'm nobody. I'm not white and I'm not not-white. If I can't "check all that apply", I'm just "mixed-race", just a swirly goop that could be anything, a group so insignificant in our smallness even when we're not that small. I am white AND I am Asian. Just let me live.
