The Science Behind Pregnancy Tests Kit: How Accurate Is It?
When you take a pregnancy test at home, the test kit detects the pregnancy hormone hCG, or human chorionic gonadotropin in the body, that the body creates during pregnancy. Most of the pregnancy tests use blood or urine for detecting hCG. But most of the home test kits come with a pregnancy guide, or to be precise, a test manual telling you how to use it.
When should you take a pregnancy test?
If you are thinking that you are not getting your period because you might be pregnant, then it is best to take a pregnancy test. Home pregnancy test kits differ from one another, and they take a little bit of time before they can detect the pregnancy hormone.
Some kits even give accurate results and detect pregnancy as early as ten days after conception. But for getting an absolutely accurate result, it is best to wait for a few more days until you have missed your period date.
If you take the test too early, there is a high chance that it will give you a negative result, even though you are pregnant. If you have taken a test before your period date, and it came back negative, then take another test when you miss your period.
What is the best time to take a pregnancy test?
Mostly, the best time to take a pregnancy test is early in the morning. Take the test with the first pee of the morning or as it is mentioned in the pregnancy guide. However, there are some pregnancy test kits that are quite sensitive and can detect hCG no matter at what time you take the pregnancy test.
But it is best if you wait for three hours from the time you peed before to take the sample for the test. It is also okay to take two tests to confirm whether you are pregnant or not.
What about at-home pregnancy tests?
At-home pregnancy test kits are mostly dye stealer tests, and look for hCG in your pee. They have special strips inside that detect the level of hCG in the pee and give a result accordingly. When used properly, these test kits give 99% accurate results. You will get them in most grocery stores and drug stores. They are not very expensive and not complicated to use. But read the manual or pregnancy guide properly before you use them.
There are three possible ways to take a pregnancy test at home.
Collect the pee in a clean container, and with the help of a dropper, place a drop or two, as mentioned in the kit, on a chemical strip.
While you are peeing, place the test strip in the urine stream.
Pee in a container and then dip the strip in the pee.
For most of the tests, the test kits detect hCG after 10 days of conception. However, if you wait till you have missed your period, the chance to get a false-negative result is reduced. You mostly miss your period after 14 days of conception.
There are a few things to keep in mind when you take a home pregnancy test, including:
It is best to use the first-morning pee. This is when the hCG levels are high and most concentrated, which is why it is easy to detect it in the morning. If you are taking the test any other time, make sure your pee has been in your bladder for a minimum of three hours.
Do not drink a lot of fluid before taking the pregnancy test. This would dilute the hCG levels.
When you are buying the kit, check the expiration date.
Go through the directions that are given with the kit before you take the test. Make sure you follow the steps accurately.
How accurate are home pregnancy test kits?
Pregnancy test kits are mostly accurate. It is mostly 99% accurate. So if the test gives you a negative result, it is correct if you have taken the test too early. If you have taken the test too early, the hCG levels are going to be low, which would make it difficult for the kit to determine it.
What should you not do before taking a pregnancy test?
Mostly, pregnancy tests never ask a woman to change their lifestyle or avoid any activities. The only medicines that can influence are infertility medicines, as they contain hCG. Here, we have put together some tips that you should follow to get the best results.
Go through the instructions before you do anything.
It is best to wait for the test until you miss your period.
Use the first pee from the morning, or take them when you pee from a full bladder. Do not drink any fluids before taking the tests.

Uses any gift you give him any time he can. One example was that you got him a hello kitty phone charm not expecting him to use it, the next day it was on his phone. Another time was when you got him a chain for his glasses, and he uses it 24/7
Gets bored when you read. Like he'll be sitting on his bed, you sitting next to him reading a book/manga. At first he'll glance over at you more frantically, then just takes the book out of your hand and demands attention
If he wakes up before you (which is rare) he'll make coffee/tea for the both of you. He took a mental note of what you like to drink and put into your drink, and what type of breakfast foods you like
He would act annoyed when you steal an article of his clothing, yet he'll be like, "I didn't say you had to take it off"
If you have low iron (same dude, same) his eyes will linger for a minute once you get up to make sure you won't fall over. If he has to get up to, then he'll put an arm on your back or arm to hold you up
Blanket stealer. He just is. You have to have like 80 blankets just so you have a chance of having one in the morning. His room often runs cold, so if you don't have the blanket you navigate to him and snuggle up to him.
Holy crap his sleepy eyes. It's very rare to see that, but he has the softest look in his eye before he drifts off to sleep. Like all his face muscles that was in a scowl softens tremendously. It makes you giddy knowing you are the only one that he trusts to see this side of him.

Fake logo designs of various districts/companies in Hermitcraft S8! Something about Hermitcraft brings out the graphic designer in me (*cough* it’s because I love worldbuilding and making tiny details in a world) anyway!
Design notes under cut! (Alongside some headcanons - it is quite long)
Horse Head Farms: this is the logo that started this idea basically. I got such a cool image of an eclipse with a repeated b+w horse head pattern and I really wanted to make it happen. M.C. Esher has done designs like these but as tiles, which I used as inspiration. I think I could have made it look a bit clearer but for my first time drawing something like this I’m pretty happy. The text is from one of the default Procreate fonts and kinda makes HHF look like a law firm (which is the vibe I was going for, soul-stealers and lawyers are often sorta linked in fiction, and supposedly xB and Hypno are their own legal team). xB and Hypno are the only employees other than the people they blackmail into doing stuff for them.
Big Eyes: I wanted a red eyeball as a reference to Tango’s amazing prank on Boatem and I imagine it’s a goofy little mascot for the company. Some big goofy text felt fitting alongside this. I wanted to make a Pass n Gas specific logo too but I wanted to focus on the main “districts” rather than specific shops. I feel like this is kind of obvious but in-universe Big Eyes are VERY unsuccessful and actively losing money.
Hohenzollern Castle: not really a company but Joe and Cleo are cool so I wanted to include them and I had a tiny bit of blank space left on the page so here we are. I actually really love how the sign looks, the wood texture came out nice. They don’t have a logo as much as they do a sign outside their area, created by Joe, with the text written by Joe’s dyes. The “Hohenzollern” is kinda squished because he began to run out of room but was too stubborn to split the word in half. Cleo argues that it isn’t a logo and is just a sign with the castle’s name on it. Joe argues back with a deconstruction of “what is a logo, really?” and something about companies and capitalism and Cleo doesn’t care enough to respond.
Octagon: I am a fool who initially thought it was spelt “Octogon” and had to fix it well after I finished. Oh well. I wanted this to have a very evil look about it. You can instantly tell they’re the evil tech company running experiments on the quantum realm or whatever in a Hollywood movie. Between the unsafe work conditions and the tax fraud, it is a miracle they haven’t been shut down (reason: the government is scared of Doc)
The Evil Empire: the “the” wouldn’t fit so I had to make some sacrifices. Evil Xisuma is dramatic and edgy so he wanted the logo to be in fancy black calligraphic medieval looking text. It fits the evil castle aesthetic the whole area has pretty well too. The Evil Empire is kinda like a Hot Topic store and a Renaissance Fair combined, but it is also involved with Crypto. Despite being so weird it has a perfect niche of marketing to edgy teenagers so it is quite successful. The employees hate it there because their work mandated uniform is to “dress like an evil minion”. Jevin is a slime monster, Wels cosplays a knight and Beef turned into an alien so they thankfully didn’t have to change.
Boatem (BTM): heavily inspired by Grian’s simplified logo he made in Minecraft, where he shortened it to BTM. Despite already having a reference to work off, this was the hardest design. I knew I wanted it to be simple, all-white and leaning back dramatically but I spent ages fiddling with it. Boatem is the most successful company, being perfect for the general public and their shopping district a tourist destination in of itself. It nearly went into bankruptcy when Mumbo was CEO but has been very successful since his Robot took over.
Zedaph Laboratories: my favourite design. Hand writing the text was a nightmare but it came together nicely other than that. Sheep symbol because sheep are his brand. I used the same colour palette as his laboratory. “Laboratory” is misspelled for two reasons: 1) I realised my mistake too late to change it, 2) I think it is completely in character for Zedaph to not know how to spell laboratory and only realise after Tango points it out and be forever haunted by his mistake. Don’t let the sleek corporate design fool you, Zedaph is still wild and is the only person in the “Zedaph Labratories”.

Kano's the type of guy to steal people's clothes if he thinks they don't wear them enough I think. Kido has like (1) skirt they never wear they just haven't gotten around to getting rid of, then they walk into the living room and Kano's just sitting there in said skirt scrolling on his phone or some shit they're like ??? "Is that my fucking skirt?" and he probably doesn't even look up at them he just shrugs and goes "You don't wear it ever, so is it actually yours?" or some shit.
Honestly thinking about it I think Kido and Shintaro are probably the only main victims of this actually... Seto's clothes are probably comically big on him and Marry's clothes are comically frilly. Steals Shintaro's because it annoys him but also haha. his clothes. :)

They're in a QPR bc I say so & also they're all in a band together. I like to think that in this universe, mutations are taboo. They might look cool, but some people think they're unnatural or scary, and bc of their mixed DNA, it's not easy for them to get good medical care. Some mutants have the ability to somewhat retract their more inhuman features, allowing them to look more normal, but some can do it to a further extent than others, and some can't do it at all. I have more cooking in my head about the lore of this world and the little guys that live in it, but this is just a little intro post for now!

Sorry these questions are kind of random but generally follow a specific theme. I'm always curious to know these sorts of things about characters because for me it tells me a lot about them if that makes sense. Feel free not to answer if these are too weird or anything!
Who's more likely to want to spend as much time in comfy pjs as possible? Is either of them the kind to not bother getting changed if they haven't got anything planned?
Of the two, who hates wearing pants the most? You know the thing where you get home and it's immediately pants off time (still wearing underwear etc)
Who always wears shoes or who has them off as much as possible? Like, who is more likely to only wear shoes when they have to and will walk around barefoot any chance they get?
Would either of them try dying their hair? If so, what colour? Would Sol even be able to? I think I remember you mentioning he needs specific products for his skin
Who steals the blankets? And who is more likely to accidently hog the bed?
Who falls asleep on who the most often? Is it usually laying with head in lap/on leg or leaning against their side etc?
Who sits on things the weirdest?
Soft pillows or firm pillows? One pillow or many? Or the boyfriend, that's also a very good option :)
Out of Luan and Solros, who is the most likely to want to try something a little less vanilla? Like, doesn't have to be anything extreme or anything- Im just curious who might be the first to suggest they try something new/a little kinky and how the other would react.
Ok so first of all, PLEASE SEND MORE ASKS LIKE THESE I loved thinking about such silly little things of my boys!
Though mostly the answers to these are simply explained by the fact that Solros has a lot of sensory sensitivities, and doesn't like anything rough or tight on him.
Here are the answers in somewhat of a cohesive order:
The stay-in-comfy-PJs-all-day person? Solros, most likely. Luan is very tidy and polite and wants to keep himself "properly" dressed most of the time, so he'd change out of PJs even with no plans for the day. I mean, he has spent most of his life just staying at home anyway so he is more used to just getting dressed as soon as he gets up. Solros seeks a lot of comfort from things so he would be the one to stay in PJs for a whole day from the two.
Pants-off-as-soon-as-home person? Again, Solros, more likely, for the same reasons above. However, since the flower-gene he gets cold easily so he might just keep them on for that reason (and to be decent in front of Luan's family). But once the two of them live alone Solros would be the one to hang out wearing just his underwear and loose shirts around the house especially during warmer months.
Shoes-always-on or shoes-always-off? Luan's family doesn't wear shoes indoors, and Solros is the comfort seeking bug with his clothes as mentioned above. So, while Luan wears shoes more to the fashion, Solros would be the one to prefer going without. Luan would be more likely to wear slippers with no socks inside the house, and Solros would choose soft socks to cover his feet.
Dyeing-their-hair? Luan would be more likely to dye his hair. Either with electric blue or red. But technically neither of them are really capable to do it since they both have sensitive hair and skin that differs from regular humans a lot.
Blanket-stealer? Bed-hogger? Solros is the blanket stealer (gets cold easily), and Luan is the bed-hogger (Sol is so used to take as little space of the world as possible even when sleeping...)
Who-falls-asleep-on-who and how? Luan is the one to fall asleep on Solros more often. Usually laying on his lap, head on his stomach or thighs, Solros playing with his hair or ears. Solros is a very light sleeper and unfortunately can't fall asleep on the spot as easily (but Luan absolutely cherises the rare moments Sol finally snoozes off on him<3).
Who-sits-weirdest? Solros. Always has his legs tugged in somehow.
Soft or firm pillows? Both prefer soft, and Solros prefers his boyfriend as a pillow :3 Listening to Lu's heartbeat feels so safe for him.

Who suggests to try not-so-vanilla-things? Luan is the one who is more familiar with the not-so-vanilla-stuff, but it's going to be Solros who's going to be the one to first suggest it. It will happen after Solros gets more comfortable with sex and doesn't get too overhelmed by it. He is curious and will be the one to bring it up. Luan wants to experience it with him and they start off slowly, going with Sol's pace like with most of the things... :>

Honestly, the thing that snapped me out of obsessive pregnancy testing after getting my first (and only) positive with Baby J was the fact that with my last pregnancy, I kept testing over and over again to see ~line progression~ in the hopes that I would be able to detect if a miscarriage was coming. The lines got darker, they eventually became a dye stealer, I was satisfied and thought, “Well! Everything’s okay, then!” and stopped. Baby stopped growing around 7 weeks anyways.
That whole experience made me realize very quickly that “line progression” doesn’t mean jack shit for a healthy pregnancy. If you get one positive, then you should celebrate, call your doctor to set up an appointment, and just accept your one positive without wasting money and mental health on taking more tests. The only time it really makes sense to retest is if your line is very faint/hard to read, and you want to check again two days later just to verify it was actually a positive.

I'm always always writing the colorguard lesbians book! It's my biggest time stealer besides, like, gestures to jobs and school but I love it so. It was "due" at midnight last Sunday to the group chat. I finished at, like... 11:48 :)
No hair dye for me! Someday, hopefully, everyone will be able to read it as I'd love for it to become a Real Book. But until then, I'm going to be secret-y about it :)

nov 12th - still pregnant.
hi. it's been quite the week. wednesday's beta number was 42, which made me really sad and feel that everything was over. but test lines continue to darken, and yesterday (saturday) i had a dye stealer on FRER. also, i feel really pregnant aka really ill. lightheaded, queasy, exhausted, and just off. also, it occured to me that i don't know when i could've ovulated, best bet is 10/26 but it could easily be 10/27 so the beta number could be 12 or 13dpo which is still so early i guess.
but whenever i make these counterarguments to spiraling i always feel like i am just vainly looking for false hope.
ANYWAY, the facts are: i'm still pregnant, i feel like crap, my lines are nice and dark, i have another hcg test tomorrow, i'll know more on tuesday.
complication - we'll be overseas for the next three weeks.
but we'll take it one step at a time.
i'm giving this pregnancy a chance.
