“DORMITORIES FOR DISABLED SOLDIERS,” Montreal Star. October 27, 1921. Page 27.

Basement of Church to Be Opened as Shelter tor Unemployed
----
The opening of dormitories in the basement of Trinity church, St. Denis street, for the accommodation of disabled ex-service men suffering through unemployment is one of the latest plans of the Disabled ex-Service Men's Association for the relief of its members during hard times.
The use of the basement has been granted to the association through the kindness of Rev. Canon Almond and it is hoped that about 100 beds can be installed there during November and the work of the association centralized in an office in the same building.
Following the Poppy Day campaign on Armistice Day all soldiers' organisations in the city will be asked to meet to appoint a representative on the Central Administrative Board of the Disabled Ex-Service Men's Association to assist in carrying out the plans for the winter.
The association is at present carrying on with an office staff of two men, one elected by the members and one appointed by the advisory board. Over 500 men have been placed in positions and over $3,000 has been spent in relief, chiefly in the supplying of food and groceries in cases of need and in the distribution of meal tickets to men who had reached the limit of their resources and were unable to find work.
The need of dormitories for the unemployed during the cold weather is increasingly apparent and it is felt by the officers of the association that the establishment of 100 beds would do much toward the improvement of conditions for the disabled soldiers searching or work under great handicaps.
A nominal charge will be made for the use of the beds with possible exceptions in the case of those whom the Association know to be unable to meet the cost.
Coffee Creek Adventures Resort is a perfect getaway for those looking to escape the hustle and bustle of city life and experience nature at its best. The resort offers stunning views of the surrounding mountains and valleys.
"Hitherto student life in them has been more picturesque than comfortable, the students having to heat their own rooms with coal stoves and having water carried up to them by hand. Bathrooms there were none save in the new buildings."
--Town & Country, November 1, 1902, on Princeton University's recent efforts to modernize
