Happy Webcomic Day!
To celebrate, I wanted to shout out some webcomics that I really enjoy:
Les Normaux by @theartofknightjj
A gorgeous lgbtq+ slice of life comic about citizens of a supernatural Paris, going through their trials, tribulations and triumphs in life and love. The art is beautiful, the characters are engaging, and the stories are wonderfully sweet.
The Youngblood Chronicles comic by @ybcthecomic
A comic adaptation of Fall Out Boy's Youngblood Chronicles music videos, adding more story, character and context. It's dark, intense and brilliantly character-driven. It's also unexpectedly funny, mostly from really good dialogue moments.
Dig Them Up by @dig-them-up-comic
Another comic based on music! In this case, Bastille's Flaws and the music video for it. This one is only a handful of pages in, but it's already a lot of fun and intrigue. I'm really looking forward to how it unfolds!
Into the Midnight City by @intothemidnightcity
Though currently on hiatus, there's a good amount of content to read for ItMC, which follows a detective agency in the eponymous (and extremely supernatural) Midnight City. It's fun, queer, joyous, and just overall delightful! The lore is fascinating, the characters are instantly likeable, and the art is beyond charming.
Nix of Nothing by @mleelunsford
It becomes apparent that queer fantasy is really my preferred genre! Nix of Nothing is another really interesting supernatural story, following a mysterious demigod, Nix, on their adventures. The art is fantastic, with really dynamic character designs. I'm super intrigued to see where the story goes.

New comic alert!
@dig-them-up-comic posted their first page yesterday and it looks pretty dang cool! Just as I based 12:15 around Quarter Past Midnight and the Doom Days album, their story is going to be based around Flaws and the Bad Blood era.
Go and check them out!

I'm literally buzzing with excitement for the Wind comic thing :> I've been coming up with my own theories of what it could hold, and even making a video based on those theories! Tho, it'll take some time to finish XD It's like...A big project. Love your works!
This ask made me so happy I blacked out and this appeared on my screen.
I have the comic planned and sketched out with placeholder dialogue between the rodent sisters I just need to finalize it when I can!

How does Ed feel about the other capitals? Does he get along with any of them ?
ahhh it's one of those "left it in the box for Over a Year" asks [slides into press conference of excuses mode]
the reason I had trouble with this one was partially just admitting to myself that I'm never going to personify every city in Canada, it's not my goal, but mostly I wanted something that only featured Ed because other oc creators come and go and sometimes break your heart and I didn't want something featuring someone else's ocs that would age poorly. I do have my own ocs for Whitehorse and Halifax and I have some good friends willing to lend me their ocs for others, so you may have seen them on the blog/s on occasion (and may see them again).
So, I tried to consider the relationships as simply as possible in a way that would be true for any potential oc that came along as kind of a "baseline". I tried to be as general as I could for that reason. I tend to base Ed's feelings off of a combination of personal experience, history, politics, and just general vibes that I get. This might change or become more elaborate depending on the personality of the character in question, of course.
Victoria, for example, is personal for me since my immediate family lives there, so while there is a bit of political and economical tension on one hand, the joke about being mistaken for Calvin is because everyone in Vic immediately assumes anyone from Alberta is from Calgary (and will completely forget even if you tell them repeatedly you're from Edmonton). The territories are personal to a degree too since I was born up there and therefore obsessed with that history from a young age, though I think sometimes Ed has a higher opinion of them than they have of him lol.

i think the thing that makes me most powerful as an artist is the fact that i have kept copies in some form or another of almost everything i have made since i started and thus whenever the imposter syndrome is hitting i can look at the literal piles of sketchbooks and notebooks and binders i keep the physical copies of my work in and go oh yeah. ive been working at this for like ten years. and then it just goes away.
anyway i absolutely recommend this as a strategy no matter how cringey it might seem keeping visual evidence of skill progression is an incredible tool against imposter syndrome. voice in your head can't tell you you're faking your skills if you can pull out a literal record of your skill growth against it

oh skids, sweetheart, that's in no way your fault.
Right now we're seeing the memories Sunder oh so helpfully unrepressed /s, which. Do you know why deep divers aren't allowed to ascend too quickly? Nitrogen Narcosis, the nitrogen in their blood expands too fast and a lot of bad shit can happen. Why did I bring this up? Froid and Rung have said that with mnemosurgery there's a memory version of this issue, and it's a serious possibility for Skids. It's not exactly pleasant when memories unrepress on their own, so I can't imagine what it feels like when they're forcefully dragged out of the depths via mnemosurgery.
So Skids was forced to work for Tarn in the past, and he was way mega guilty that it was starting to get to him. This isssss not his fault whatsoever, a nice amount of people would call it Stockholm syndrome (which if we can recall Rung said the tf universe equivalent to explain how Froid cares for Sunder).
