I had all and then most of you, some and now none of you.

Take me back to the night we met.

This comic stems from my need for them to have a satisfying conclusion OKAY

I mean it's bittersweet but at least they make up (to a degree)

Explanation below (kind of spoiling next part) (kindof almost not really idk):

After being dangerously injured by a cryptid, Vanessa managed to contact the one person she wished she could have said goodbye to the most.

I'll explain more about why Vanessa is the way she is in the next part but without spoiling, Vanessa has grown a little since the last time she saw y/n. That, in combination with the fact she's bleeding out and taking on the mentality "fuck it why not", has led her to this decision.

This comic kinda goes off of the idea she gets an inkling of doubt in her mind about whether y/n is still "alive".

The next part will go into it more but that doubt mixed with her resolve leads her to at least try.

She tries to call y/n. They don't answer. She sends a text and no longer has the strength to hold on to her phone.

I don't think she'll be completely resolved to Vampires having actual consciousness but in her last moments she's also just wishing for her friend back. Her human friend. The one who has been dead all this time. Vanessa has a history with seeing ghosts so

I'll let you decide which phone of y/n's she tried to contact.

Assuming y/n unblocked her on their previous phone at some point

So yeah, Vanessa in this comic is going back and forth on whether this is y/n or not. She's bleeding out, so does it really matter?

It's almost selfish how much she wishes to be free of the ache in her chest. The fact in the end, she couldn't free her friend.

You'll see more of this in the next part. I don't want to spoil it too much.

She doesn't wish to carry this burden of failing her friend. She reaches for a conclusion. She wants this to end well. She wants her friend to be okay. She wants to believe everything has worked out. She wants everyone she cares about to be okay without her.

She'll throw out her wish to the world. And hopefully, it'll come true.

She'll throw out her wish to you.

It is you.

I may have spoiled the next part a little bit oopsies

I just want to explain why Vanessa's different y'know

And y/n has their own conflicting emotions.

Even when things are a semblance of normal, it can't be. They are a vampire now. It tears them up inside.

But. Vanessa lets them touch her.

They've been afraid to do that. For the entirety of this reunion cut short.

She lets them touch her.

And again, Vanessa wouldn't be this way if... it weren't for a few somebodies.

But that's enough spoiling the next part.

Its been so long since I finished @naffeclipse's fic Cryptid Sightings but I got the urge to draw some more Cryptid monster design for Eclipse cause I still can't stop loving the way Naff created their Crypid!Eclipse! <3 I cannot stop the love I have for CS and I do need to reread it one day.

I did forget that it was four arms sooo um... woop! Hahaha!

I was like always inspired by the AMAZING - I cant praise my love for Meep's art enough no matter how much I try!! - @themeeplord cause their CS!Eclipse makes me MELT! Lemme hold their cute face!! This time I went with a more glowly design since I love light effects and I imagine that this Cryptid!Eclipse can turn their light on and off to use as a angler fish to lure their prey closer in the dark.

A little "short" story under to build on the picture <3 Been a while since I written stories haha!

The ever pressuring darkness of the ancient forest around seem to chill you to your very bones. Every creak of the old trees makes you flinch and turn your head praying its just a bird, but there is no sound of any animals in the forest with you. No hooting owl. No scavenging fox in the underbrush.

It is just you.

Or is it?

The heavy blackness is suddenly breaking as a red light seem to come from a unknown source just a short ways in front of where you were going. It almost looks like a firefly as it bobbles gently in the wind. Another is soon followed but this one a deep blue.

You feel your tired legs start to move towards the almost hypnotizing light. The exhaustion in your body seem to get heavier as if the light is telling you that it is finally okay to take a break. You feel safe.

The silence of the forest is then shattered by the sound of bells.

'Ding... Ding...'

Its a soft sound. A sound that reminds you of a windchime softly singing in the summer breeze.

More lights are now accompanying the previous ones and they seem to almost take shape.

Your mind is trying to tell you that it is not safe. You know the stories of the demon in this forest - yet still you went in only armed with a old camera around your neck. The elders in your small town spoke of the demon - or old god as some called them - and how it lured in wrong doers and so called rulebreakers to punish them. You been taught and ordered already as a young child never to enter the forest at night, but the stories had done the opposite of scaring you away.

They had thrilled you to enter.

Yet now you feared that maybe you really should have listened. Maybe you should have been scared as slowly giant hands dipped in red and blue reached out for you to oh so gently grasp your head and hips. The size double of that of your head with claws longer then your whole hand. Sharper then the teeth of the old stray dog that you used to feed at night.

Bright yellow eyes enveloped in red stares into your own with a soft cooing and rumbling coming from fanged mouth. A sound resembling the bellows of a crocodile emitting from the being's chest where it's bright petal shaped crest stands proudly like that of a lions mane.

Slowly it pulls you in where the hands travel to gently lift you up and press you close to its body as if you were something precious to keep safe.

You are now fighting to keep your eyes open as they grow heavier and heavier as the gentle chime of the bells and the now soft rumbling sings you to sleep. The feeling of being moved only managed to make you lose the fight to stay awake.

The last thing you register as the slumber sweeps you under is a deep voice that whispers in your hair with what sounds like two overlapping voices.

"Rest little one. Nothing in our forest will cause you harm. Not as long as we can help it..."

During the brainstorming phase of Cryptid Sightings (so so long ago,) one concept I was fiddling with was demonic cryptids couldn't enter sunlight. They simply can't exist in such brightness due to their nature, except for, of course, Eclipse aka Sun while possessing a vessel. I even had a scene in mind of Moon cornering some poor sucker cryptid at the crack of dawn after said cryptid threatened/harmed Y/N. The cryptid taunted Moon by saying how he couldn't get them now—they were in the sunlight.

And Moon smiled wide, black goo seeping from between the faceplate's teeth as he stepped into the morning brightness, the vessel shifting to bright yellows and reds, and now bearing a terrible grin of ink and teeth.

"Oh, but I can, friend."

He's surprisingly quiet for such a big boy :3c When he wants to be, anyway. uwu Part one of a little thing that is definitely getting away from me, because the idea of plopping my Krampus inspired Eclipse down in the same vicinity as @naffeclipse little hunter and cryptid boys has been plaguing me for a month and... uwu well ye.. COUPLE THINGS. This is definitely set in a sort of pre-reveal moment... Yes, Moon is roasting marshmallows just to watch them burn (also assuming the fire isn't bright enough to swap him to sun because I didn't think about that till it was too late) and I'm having way too much fun with the demon-y shadow hands already. Brain started dying trying to sort out how to face in the panel after this last one SO break time for sleep and then back on this uwu. Also gives me time to think angles and a lil dialogue to go with it. BUT BOY he sure looks happy to see them :3c Yea?

The Contestants Are Here!

Thank you for your patience, I'm now ready to announce our contestants for the Obscure Character Showdown! There are 300 characters, split up into 6 groups of 50.

Here's how the schedule will work: Day 1 is Group A Round 1 Part 1, Day 2 is Group A Round 1 Part 2, Day 3 is Group B Round 1 Part 1, Day 4 is Group B Round 1 Part 2, Day 5 is Group C Round 1 Part 1, and so on and so forth until we reach Group F Round 1 Part 2, and then the next day we'll fold back over for Group A Round 2. I'm splitting up the rounds because tumblr can interpret posting many polls at once as spamming, and each group contains 25 polls, so. 13 one day, 12 the next.

I expect to start polls by Wednesday, May 31, but I may be a little later than that. I'll keep you updated.

The polls will be tagged with 'obscurecharactershowdown,' 'obscure poll,' and their group letter and round number.

Copper cogs rusted through by paper-lilypie: post-fire au? Reader who has siblings? Reader is fixed DCA but then some Afton shit happens? DCA and reader who both probably have jaw dropping backstory??? Nom. I'm eating all of this

It was, in reality, not fine by bones-of-a-rabbit: lm A SUCKER for oblivious y/n's. And dca who repeatedly gets friendzoned. I also love their writing style. Mwah mwah I love that au

Visions (or lack thereof) by Deeplyjuniper: while this is not an x reader, I absolutely adore this au! Gregory coming back to check on Freddy but Freddy is infected instead of Moon, Sun/moon being the parental figure to Gregory instead of Freddy, Gregory slowly trusting Moon, Sun and Moon trying to understand why the fuck they can't remember anything, MUSIIIIC MAAAANN!!!

Red light Blue light by nyxedbones: usually human-looking DCA isn't my thing, but I love DBH with all my heart, and I'm in love with how author maneged mixing both timelines with no plotholes.

Sleuth Jesters by Naffeclipse: I love detectives, I love DCA, and a mix of both them is a perfection. I also hate mafia boss eclipse, may he rest in piss.

Cryptid Sightings by Naffeclipse: I love big scary monsters who are actually really soft. And I love the reader who's like "I'm gonna protect you" but the one they're protecting is literally a demon. Love the angst, author really ripped our hearts off and then crush it into pieces.

So(u)l by strawbubbysugar: a cute Soulmates au where Engineer reader is soulmates with Sun and Moon! What could possibly go wrong? :D (Chapter 47 has me crying)

Celestial Sundown by pillowspace: an au where reader just enjoys their normal human life then boom they see an almost dead god and after some chaos they befriend him, yay!

One Lost Star by bluemoon1331: God/goddes au where a human who just goes buddy-buddy with gods as if they're not some heavenly beings. They're soo huge that we can just sit on their hands. Also love the chaotic trio of Balloon Boy, JJ and Gregory.

One Who Holds A Star by justaduckarts: God/goddes au where reader is "blessed" with a star (a certain god slipped on a banana and star fell on child reader). Sun adopted them but is awful at parenting, he also has daddy issues. Eclipse did pretty bad stuff but he is still the best let me marry him please. I'm adopting Pluto as my mother and no one can stop me. Someone please invent therapy they all desperately need it.

Hey Naff! I just saw the ask about what Cryptid y/n would be and your response about a mothman one, and I present to you something I just thought would be really funny:

Following along the delicious obliviousness of the main fic, mothperson y/n just not having that sixth sense all cryptids have that lets them detect other cryptids or even demons. So they find the "abandoned animatronic" and feel bad about their vulnerability and obviously burnt state (plus are drawn to the glow of their eyes!) and approach asking if they might need help. They know this forest like the back of their hand, it would be no problem directing them somewhere a human settlement could help them!

Meanwhile the boys are internally like ?? are they not? Afraid? Why is this other supernatural entity talking so casually to a demon, can they not feel what they are?

And y/n is just like all proudly declaring how they are a very good hunter (of what they eat) and well respected in the woods and how nobody will get away with hurting them as long as the local mothperson watches over them, and smiles at them just super earnestly.

And so amused they just go along with it. Wondering when they'll eventually realize what they're dealing with. Because surely they will sense it soon, right? But then they don't, and Eclipse no longer wants them to, because this cryptid can very much fly away, and they find themselves really not wanting that to happen the more time they spend together.

Heya, babe! About this post, EEEE, I LOVE THIS! Oblivious Y/N strikes again in mothperson form!

That's so sweet to think of the possessed animatronic's pale eyes becoming a familiar and welcomed light in mothperson Y/N's life, and how easily they seek out the boys with their glow. It's also a bit of a strange role reversal with Y/N sleeping during the day and fluttering around at night.

Gah, I love the boys' confusion, too! They're not necessarily concerned or hostile towards another cryptid, expecting this one to become aware that they're much, much more dangerous than what their vessel appears as, so they certainly don't expect this polite offer from the mothperson to help them hide in the woods.

Then promising to protect them. That's new. Eclipse has no idea how to take the rather sweet cryptid except to follow them into their woods.

I imagine there are a few moments where the boys almost trip themselves up when Y/N returns with a varmint for their dinner and happens to not eat the heart. Either Sun or Moon almost comments about them wasting the best part of the innards before—whoops gotta keep that to themselves.

OH OH AND ANOTHER THING mothperson Y/N believes that they're the tol in the relationship friendship because the animatronic doesn't pass their feathery antennae in height, only to be proved very very wrong when Eclipse finally emerges and is taller than them.
