Understood Me (SabiGiyuu, KNY)

Giyuu and Sabito were two stupid kids in an unforgiving world. One of monsters that tormented them and their families.

Monsters didn't understand bonds. When it came to them, it seemed no one did.

Days passed with training and nights with training, too. It was only in those brief break periods did things seem... different.

Tree branches supported their weights as they sat above the ground. Their feet dangled in the air freely, much like their clean laundry did after hitting the washboard.

Blue met purple as they stared at each other, boyish behaviors made them too hesitant to make another move further. Pinkies wrapped around each other from where they sat on the bark.

Words didn't need to be shared to express their feelings. Feelings no other man or woman would dare to share with someone of the same gender.

For young boys, their emotional maturity was beyond their own comprehension. However, their bodies never caught up; the words never left their parted lips.

Giyuu didn't know what it was that left that soft smile on Sabito's lips. He only knew it as one of the prettiest things he's ever seen.

For words never shared, they knew what the other wanted. Emotions expressed through the touch of fingertips and the chuckles that came with anticipating smiles.

Giyuu didn't understand himself, but he knew Sabito. Sabito was his to follow and to stand beside.

Now, at 21 years old, he understood what they had back then as young teenagers. Romance.

Romance between men was judged, ridiculed, and downright disgusting in society's eyes. Perhaps Giyuu should be lucky that Sabito never had to witness social isolation that punished same-sex couples.

Sabito's death brought a lot of unanswered questions, ones that made Giyuu struggle with connecting with anyone else. There was one thing that was never a question, however: the unnamed bond that he and Sabito shared.

He knew, without a doubt, that he was fully understood. Sabito understood him in a way that could never be replicated, not even in a way that his dates or even his adoptive father could fathom.

He understood how hesitant Giyuu was with doing something as simple as touching shoulders together. He knew how important the loose hug meant just before they entered Final Selection.

When training, they confidently connected fists to stomachs and flipped each other on the ground without hesitation. Outside of combat, Giyuu was inexplicably nervous to accidentally bump their feet together.

They never kissed. They never said a word to each other when dangling their feet off of the branch.

Giyuu realized that their feelings for each other were imbued with romantic passion, even though they never acted on them. Giyuu was in love with Sabito, and still is.

No woman has ever loved him like Sabito did. Nothing felt romantic; they didn't understand him.

Others failed to comprehend him like Sabito did. Sabito understood the poorly-hidden anxiety and offered comforting silence in the moments where others crowded his space and chased him away.

While countless women rushed to hold his hand and kiss his cheek, Sabito understood the true intimacy of inching their fingers closer and barely grazing each other's knuckles. Damn, the simple thought sent purple and pink butterflies gracefully gliding in his stomach.

It wasn't until Giyuu watched a couple communicate without speaking did he understand what it was. He knew why everything felt so romantic when nothing more happened other than gazes that held a million affections.

A/N: I can't be the only one who feels they're too underrated. They deserve more love!

Warnings: Yandere themes, Makomo is platonic, Reader is training under Urokodaki

Sabito: ➼ Sabito is shy. Scratch that, he's EXTREMELY shy.

➼ Now, he probably comes off as someone who's tough and bold. However, when it comes to love, he doesn't know how to react. Just a touch could send him flying to outer space. He does get sudden moments of courage though, so when you thought he was being a bit too touchy during training, you weren't imagining it.

➼ He knows you're not scared to be independent and he loves that about you. He once saw you cooking food alone and tried to help you. End result? A horrible burn mark on the floor that just wouldn't go away and burnt scrambled eggs that were supposed to be tamagoyaki. Yeah, he's not house-husband material, but he's pretty sweet.

➼ He wants you to become stronger, he wouldn't mind if you became stronger than him, but he was very paranoid about you not coming back from the Final Selection. Is becoming a demon slayer really that necessary? Why can't you just stay with him, Tanjiro, and Makomo? You guys are like a family, aren't you?

➼ He's definitely a tsundere yet clingy type of yandere. God, blushing because of a simple touch isn't manly at all. It's not like he likes you. He just isn't used to physical contact, that's all. Right? RIGHT? Red flag? Is there any? He's even up to sharing you if needed! The only red flag I can think of is that he likes to watch you (not in a creepy way). A lot. You might think at night while getting to bed that nobody is watching you but think twice.

➼ If you think he's vanished after you officially became a demon slayer, he's really not. You're too naive to think that.

Makomo: ➼ She's the opposite of Sabito. She may come off as shy and introverted, but she's way bolder.

➼ She's one of the best matchmakers to have ever walked on this planet. She sees both Tanjiro and Sabito as her older brothers and she already sees you like an older sister. Makomo simply wants to be a sister-in-law, so she has a few tricks up her sleeve. She's already pulled a few, little do you know.

➼ She loves spending time with you talking about anything and everything after your training sessions. It can range from crushes, friends, clothes, to even the kind of food you like. She's a devil in disguise and uses this information for her match-making escapades. One day, you told Makomo that you liked (f/f), and the very next day, Sabito bought you sweets of the exact same flavor, how odd is that? You got excited and hugged him.

➼ Ghosts have the ability to turn invisible, you know. If you think she's left you alone after the Final Selection, she really hasn't. She likes to watch over you and is proud to see how much you've progressed. She can't even fathom being away from you.

➼ She's an impulsive yandere. She'll do anything that comes to her mind and she's quick to adapt to situations if anything goes wrong. She's a huge tease and most situations don't turn out right because of this trait of hers. Red flag? She may or may not be a bit manipulative to get her way. It's not like it's harming anyone, though. She's hellbent to get the happy ending she desires.

➼ Makomo and Nezuko would be BEST FRIENDS if they met. Their personalities match a lot. Three of you having a sleepover- how cute does that sound?

Fall of the masked fox

After final selection, it was clear to everyone that Sabito didn’t make it due to his absence at the end. Sabito was in fact severely injured but not dead. He made it out of the forest but he didn’t wanted to shame his sensei and Tomioka by returning empty handed (they would’ve loved him and welcomed him back but he thought it was shameful and coward like). Sabito knew his wound was severe and he didn’t had much time so he rather pass away at the mountain he was trained on so he headed there. On his way, he encountered a powerful demon, he could sense it, it was one of the uppermoons, Douma out of all demons.

Rebirth of the nine tail kitsune

Douma decided to give some of his blood to the dying boy even if the boy refused but he wanted to live, protect those he loved bc he was too weak so he took it after and endless fight with himself over his head. Sabito was turned into a fox demon but unlike others, Sabito didn’t find appetizing the smell of humans nor their flesh, he rather took more interest into eating other demons. Sabito forgot parts of his life, those who were there to raise him and train him had blurry faces, he forgot his name right after his turning but people around the mountain called him Buzuki and thats the name he claimed for himself. He was the guardian on the mountain, helping those near it from demons and used his demon blood art to help Urokodaki with his new students with Illusions of himself with out Urokodaki’s knowledge(like he did with Tanjiro but instead of being his soul, it was an illusion made by Sabitos blood art). People who were saved by Buzuki also call him “The dancing water fox” due to his attacks being so flexible and smooth, it was like a dance! (His attacks were like Tanjiro using sun dance in his attacks).

Fox trap

There were no complains about Buzuki’s presence, in the contrary, people loved his presence enough to visit and give him gifts, tho Buzuki didn’t made his presence known to the visitors yet he was still watching. Tho Urokodaki requested Tanjiro’s presence to the corps since he was smelling a demon near by but couldn’t find it for a couple of months now. Tanjiro returned back as requested and got to work *skiping details on how he found him*. Buzuki made his presence known and clear to Tanjiro, he could sense he’s a good person besides he recognized him from his training a few years ago. Tanjiro was shocked to find this out, but he recognized him, his similarities were close to the one of Sabito’s, he took a step back to sniff, the scent was the same, Tanjiro now knows he IS defined Sabito, the one who helped him at the mountain.
