its finally done!!!
based on this unhinged post i made that i cant stop thinking about and am writing a bit for: god nerevar who used the heart of lorkhan instead of the tribunal, mantling lorkhan and becoming the next incarnation of the trickster creator deity. nerevar the godkiller, son of lorkhan, the hands of change.
of course if you want to you can pretend this is just saint nerevar moon-and-star if you want
though i did draw him as more of a trickster type than what the tribunal temple says. i just dont see how a warlord with a ring enchanted for charisma that kills anyone else who wears it would be a perfectly upstanding moral paragon--this dude was a tricky little fuck who went from caravan guard to king and you cannot change my mind
i also tried very hard on the clothes. morrowind clothes are still new to me

Luke Castellan and his team of godkillers but they don't kill with weapons stained with ichor, but with the illusive Mist that warps the mind of mortals so easily, it shakes their faith.
In eons past, these mortals revered the Olympians with offerings and prayers daily, told their stories that inspired fear and awe all the same. It was something the pantheon had gotten hooked on, something more addicting than the ambrosia and nectar the texts had waxed poetry over. And the council of twelve did their damn best to keep it around. After all, there was no other high out there that can compare to the feeling of being in control, of being powerful.
But like any high, it wears off, sooner or later.
So that's exactly what happens.
Alabaster C. Torrington, with the help of Dr. Claymore, "discovers" new texts that discuss Greek gods that have never been heard of before; gods who are kinder, wiser, more trustworthy, than the ones everyone has come to know in this era.
It's interesting, how the origins of these gods and their lives seem to have no relevance or connection to the other pantheon and its history. No Titanomachy or Gigantomachy to speak of. There are a few parallels, but they are pleasant, like the love stories of Dionysus and Ariadne or Pygmalion and Galatea. Otherwise, it's like an alternate timeline of its own, where every god present is named a god for a reason.
It's fake.
But the mortals don't need to know that. For what's false, if persisted in, would become true anyways. Furthermore, it isn't like a new pantheon will harm any of them. The lucky ones with clear sight may win the heart of a deity who would actually see them beyond their fleeting mortality, who would care for them.
It takes a while, though, for the mortals to adjust to this suddenly newfound information. They are stubborn creatures, Luke knows, who tend to fear the unknown and new. Yet the youth crave it like bears after a beehive laden with honey. With time, they'll come around, he knows. Maybe he might not be there to see if the plans work out for himself, but someone would, and that's all that matters to him. He just needed to be the one to start the movement.
Luckily for him, he doesn't have to wait too long.
The faith spreads through idealized modernized takes on the mythology, as silly as it sounds. It's very of the era, isn't it? Books are being published on these gods who endure hardships and come out irrevocably changed but for the better. Ethan flips through one by an author under the pen name S.J and devours it in three hours. It reads nicely and he wonders when he'll get a chance to meet the main character of the story, and ask her if the myth holds true. It is, obviously, but it's different hearing it from a god. The fanfictions are even better, but Lou Ellen Blackstone gets drowned out by Alabaster's "lalalalala" before she can start talking about the recent one that was updated a few hours ago. Eh, so what if it's a little spicy?
Nonetheless, the new band of believers grows, and it's like a sucker punch to the gut for the Greek pantheon.
Apollo comes to camp and drops to his knees before his own cabin, surprising the campers. He looks terrible. Dionysus had already looked miserable, but the children attributed that to his sour personality. And, as usual, no one noticed the girl by the hearth who had disappeared weeks ago. But Apollo, golden boy Apollo, well, he has eyes that are sunken and sickly yellow, matted hair, muscles shrunk, and hands that shake as if they are beyond his control.
"They're killing us," he whispers to Lee Fletcher, "all of us."
"What do you want us to do?" Lee asks. Apollo coughs into his fist and looks down to see a smear of gold staining it.
A nosebleed. Gods don't get nosebleeds.
His children, gods bless them, are trying to heal him, but to no avail. It's kind of funny, how on any other occasion, such an act would have been annoying. If the solution was to simply heal, don't you think he would have tried that? But, weak as he was, he felt touched. Loved, even.
But love wasn't always enough to save another. He, of all gods, should know that.
"Can you write?" he asks. Lee scratches his head.
"Write?"
"Stories. Poems. Songs. Anything."
"Um, no, not really. Dyslexia kicks my ass, and you know archery is more my thing. But Will does sometimes. Healing is his forte, but I always see him writing something in a notebook, though that could just be medical notes, now that I think about it-"
Apollo disregards that last part and begs Will Solace to take up the pen and fight back. It's their last hope. If nothing is done, this camp and its children will become all that is left of the Greek Pantheon, for textbooks and website links are not enough to keep the faith going, especially if left to collect dust or rot in an archive.
"Write us new myths. Stories that can happen now, that we can make happen. Redeem us, so that we can live. We'll do it. We'll do any of it," Apollo begs.
"Anything?" Will asks. Apollo nods.
"Anything."
The Fates looked at each other from above. How time has changed. In the past, battles were fought with swords. Now, they had to be fought with words.

Psychic: *Reads my mind*
My mind: During the Forefather's eve quest, when the witch hunters show up, they command Ambros' ghost leave in the name of the Eternal Fire.
But Ambros doesn't immediately leave. He lingers for a bit. Less like he's being compelled to and more like he's choosing to go.
This raises so many questions. Is the Eternal Fire not able to command spirits or were the witch hunters not able to invoke it? If it can't do that, what can it do?
Sure Tamara wasn't attacked by the crones, but she was never their focus. Are the crones proper deities? Is Geralt a godkiller? And what about-
Psychic: Bro please stop

32. Someone my muse has betrayed
going right for the jugular, i see..
trahearne, hands down. she isn't a backstabbing person, and she will rather tell you how it is than do anything behind your back, but in the event of her own glory or someone else, she will choose her own glory. such is the nature of her frankly ruthless ambition. and she does consider this to be betrayal, and she owns up to it, but not many people see it as betrayal in the same sense as she does. because, uh, hero worship. and her sheer magnetic presence. like you have to stare so much into the sun to see its surface kinda presence. that's just nyra for ya.
also, balthazar. she did pray to balthazar, as she does to all other human gods even if she was blessed by lyssa, but turning back on your beliefs because, well, glory and world needing saving is a pretty dang big betrayal in my books, and in hers. and not only turning back, she killed him. to a grand cost to herself, of course, but she did kill him.
and while few people fault her for trahearne, there's a sizable portion of the clergy of dr that considers her a heretic, a godkiller (derogatory), someone not to be associated with, and there's a good chance she'll be chased out of balthazar's temples. she doesn't even feel entirely comfortable in the temple in rurikton, where she was first baptized as a kid; as a people whose history is marked by war, balthazar is a deity a lot of them turn to, so she isn't entirely welcome in the sacred, ascalonian spaces of balthazar worship. but then again, she did complete adelbern's crown, and she did convince eir to give magdaer to her bc well, she's ascalonian.
tl;dr nyra's ascalonian (affectionate) (derogatory)

Hmmmm..... there's probably an interesting essay to be written out of my last three readings: The Tombs of Atuan (Ursula K. Le Guin), Godkiller (Hannah Kaner), and Small Gods (Terry Pratchett). Gods, power, selfishness of gods to grow their worship, gods dying, faith more in the institution than the deity, fear, labyrinths.

haewon is more familiarly known as  ❝  GODKILLER  ❞  by other deities and supernatural creatures for her ability to reprimand  —  lightly put  —  the divine  .  however  ,  haewon has also numerous other monikers that she has never heard of  ,  or rarely used  ,  or even have forgotten herself . . . these include  (  but not limited to  )  :
divine punisher
divine arbiter
the court's dog
defender of mortals
yet . . . there is an even rarer one that is often whispered amongst those of the higher court  ,  it's for haewon's ability to kill gods  ,  regardless of status or power as she REIGNS above them  .  she has the ability to dole punishment upon even those of the higher court . . . she just doesn't know this  ,  nor would she ever be allowed privy to this information  .  haewon has a lot of undiscovered potential as the divine punisher  .               the rarer names are  ❝  HARBINGER OF THE END  ❞  or  ❝  FAITH KILLER  ❞  or  ❝  CHAOS BEARER  ❞  .  this being a reference that haewon has the ability to rid the world of its gods and deities  ,  which could bring forth the end of times should she do so . . . by ridding the world of the divine that upkeep the world means things would begin to collapse . . . by causing the fall of gods  ,  it would trigger the people's loss of faith and soon the world would fall into chaos  .

Godkiller is a great fiction book even for polytheists to have around. While it's got enough escapism to just dive into another world, it has just enough arguments for and against polytheistic deities to give a bit of reflection for the reader, or inspiration.

For the ask number thing: Kassandra 20, 25, 38 :)
Aaaaam thank you for the ask, Morgan! I can't wait to tell you guys about her aaaa okay so.
20. Who is the person they love the most in the world?
Asha. From the day she was born, Kass adored her little sister. And she's told Ash this often--whispered it when she was a baby sleeping in her arms. "You're my favorite person in the whole wide world." And that's never changed for her. I think there is some obsession, some co dependency Kass unknowingly puts her because she's just so afraid of losing Ash like she did their parents. Ash is smart, too, so she realizes often that as much as Kass loves her (and likes her, like they're extremely close as siblings and genuinely so), there is some layer to that love and overprotectiveness that is an excuse to hurt herself.
There is often this conversation that hovers of them that does add tension, which is Kass saying 'you don't understand I need to keep you safe' and Ash shooting back 'okay, but you don't need to hurt yourself, please'. It's what it is but yes. Kass would do anything for Ash and that's a blessing and a curse.
25. How do they handle being complimented?
SO. You'd THINK Kass would handle being complimented well because she plays the role of the hot confident leader all the time, but no. If someone she doesn't know compliments her, then I think she kind of brushes it off with a laugh and says thanks. If it's a friend though, oh my god. The deflection. The awkward laughing. The refusal to actually accept it because Nooooo, don't be silly, hahaha, ANYWAY.
She melts really easily and copes with humor. Like, later on, Blaine takes to referring to Kass as 'Gorgeous' as a nickname and her response is to turn into a puddle and hide her face--and this from some who as been calling him 'Handsome' since they were like 14.
38. Are they a good liar?
HA! No, she's awful at it. That's the problem about being super honest, right? Even when she attempts to lie (usually about her feelings and issues), you can tell by her face that she's doing a bad job. She doesn't even have a tell, Kass just looks SUPER guilty.
Fact is, you can catch her in a lie all you want but she'll double down so hard that eventually you give up--and Kass calls that a fucking success.

Attention farmers with Deity AUs
I’ve been talking among the SDV RP discord I’m in about an AU of an AU where one of my farmers (not featured on this blog) essentially goes on a Kratos/God Of War-esque mission to slay the deities of the Pantheon.
HOWEVER, I do not feel comfortable writing stuff about people’s characters without their permission, especially with the nature of the story. I’ve written the first two chapters which heavily focus on setting up the motivation and means of the character.
In the future I plan on writing encounters between Aurora (the protagonist(?)) and the Deities as she tries to exact her revenge. If you would be fine with your character being in this story, DM me or send me an ask detailing your Deity and any artefacts, powers or abilities they may possess- and I’ll be happy to include them.
EDIT: I’ve made a Google Form (click here) that you can fill out if you dont want to personally message me (anxiety is mean I know). It should cover all the information I need.
Below is a link to the first couple chapters of the story, however, heavy warnings for death, violence and generally mature themes.

Faction: The Ravening Tithe
“Here’s a prayer for you to remember, acolyte, one to keep stowed away for when hope ‘n all the other gods fail your heeds:
“Oh Jarginaw, devourer of all, see the bounties of the world laid before thee as a feast, and in thy magnanimity save me for last.”
No idea if that’d actually save you, given the chance, but it’s worth tryin I suppose”
Setup: All consuming gods of hunger tend to get a bad rap, as there are many other terrible things in the multiverse that deserve to be eaten, and in plenty of cases can’t be contained or otherwise averted without first being torn apart and thoroughly chewed.
This was the conclusion reached by a band of adventurers after their defeat of a group of cultists attempting to summon Jarginaw: a deific leviathan said to have been banished to the void during the age of titans for fear of its endless hunger and ability to sever the strings of fate with its innumerable teeth. Why not diffuse the cult’s doomsday ritual and use it for some good? Figure out an ethical way around the blood sacrifices and the autophagic madness and keep a kaiju in their back pocket to sick on whatever mad god or cosmic horror decided to try their luck at remaking the world next?
And so the Ravening Tithe was born, an organization that a amounts to a secularized, utilitarian death-cult, operated in the name of the public good. While few can approve of their methods, their results are without question as three times in the last half century their pet godkiller has held the line against civilization breaking threats, and proved a deterrent against many more.
Adventure Hooks:
While the Tithe has agents scattered across the ocean and a few outposts scattered about, they primarily operate out of a reclaimed naval fortress called the Ruminorium, Part temple, part dockyard, part prison complex, this structure sits at the center of a large network of prisoner transports that go to feed the grisly rituals of execution by exposure that keep the great maw-god sated. Tithe agents may step in on the player’s bounty-hunting expeditions to ensure their catches are brought in alive and channeled towards the Ruminorium, while characters with a criminal past may have spent time there in the past. While it’s a rare occurrence, it’s not unheard of for the Tithe’s administration to cull through their captives for recruits, giving those with potential a second chance before they’re fed to the waves and scavengers.
Indestructable cursed artifact? Immortal villain captive but not yet defeated? Why not chuck ‘em into the maw of an all devouring demiurge and have them pulled apart in the abyss for all time? The Ravening tithe have unlocked some of the rituals practiced by the old Jarginaw cultists to open a toothy portal directly into the god-beast’s gullet, and use it to dispose of the most heinous things the realm can offer up.
Though their primary congregation was defeated, the cult of Jarginaw is an ancient sect, and maintains safeholds of knowledge across the known world. The Tithe offers high bounties for any leviathan lore retreived from these holdhouts, effectively declaring open season on them for witchfinders and other occult bountyhunters.
Faction Benefits:
Joining the Tithe is not a step taken likely, as it involves supplementing one’s loyalties to deity, country, and kin with occult oaths that bind one inexorably to the leviathan. Tithe agents swear to contain the beast at all costs, including feeding others or themselves to it if necessary to forestall its gluttonous rampage. It also requires the recruit to submit to the Ravening Tithe’s internal hierarchy, which draws strongly from that of the privateers who made up the organization’s founding members. Personal restrictions are light, but in a crisis, or under direct order, the naval chain of command MUST be followed without question.
Eclectic knowledge: In addition to subsuming the esoteric lore of the original Jarginaw cult, the Tithe possesses the combined archives of the adventurers who founded it, expanded over their lifetimes and with their subordinate’s findings: Seacharts, arcane learning, intelligence reports from across the known world. Finding anything in the Tithe’s archives is a challenge, but can provide quite the knowledge base for a party looking for awnsers.
Naval Service: The Tithe maintains a small fleet of ships, and has a respected position among their host nation’s navy. Members can expect a role within a ship’s compliment equivalent to their skill and rank within the organization. Privlaged members may be given a commission, or may even be selected to captain one of the Tithe’s own ships should they prove worthy of the honor.
Fear opens Doors: No one wants to mess with someone who’s boss’s boss is the world-serpent. So long as they present themselves as agents of the maw, players can expect their fearsome reputation to precede them.
Renown Benfits:
Those who earn a significant rank with the Tithe can expect greater benefits not accessible to the rank and file, and secret to the wider world.
Serpent’s Teeth: A mark of officer’s rank among the Tithe is a weapon made of one of Jarginaw’s own teeth, ground down through arcane processes into an enameled blade coating or integrated like ivory into a handle. These weapons have the miraculous effect of preventing those struck by them from using teleportation or plane-shifting magic, and possess an undeniably beautiful opalescence.
Treasures of the beast’s belly: The great levithan has eaten entire worlds,
and though the bidding of a special ritual ( and great sacrifice) the cosmic kaiju can be coaxed to regurgitate some of its devoured treasures, still awaiting their turn at digestion.  These relics are usually the most dangerous and enduring forms of cosmic jetsam, and so the Ravening Tithe never uses this ability lightly.
Maw Travel: It takes complete devotion to allow yourself to step into an all-devouring being’s mouth and trust it will not swallow you. Still, the Jarginaw priests discovered this technique, alloing themselves to be momentarily consumed and then spat out somewhere else across the planes. They used this omnivorous miracle to avoid capture for centuries, transporting their most loyal acolytes with them from place to place, and the leaders of the Ravening tide have inherited the trick.  Able to transport themselves and their vessels across the seas, the Tithe’s leadership is willing to use this ability in a pinch, but hesitant to show it off given its unsettling connotations.

🪡 for your current favorite dynamic !! or, alternatively, the most recent one you've written <3
so, as of now my most recent dynamic is Aaron and Daniel, from And David Became Goliath
The thing with them is that they both keep up distant facades around people in general in ways that interfere with their emotional needs at times.
This is getting really long so I'm adding a read more here
Aaron is like, ridiculously open and expressive around people he trusts, or that he intends to show interest on [the more he's reciprocated, the more he invests himself], but the origins of his nickname as Goliath stems from his brute strength and involvement with violence, and the stoicness he embodies around strangers and people he doesn't trust.
Now, Daniel is a reliable and responsible figure, who keeps up a serious and kinda distant facade as to present himself as more rational and in control of his emotions -- this started out because of his place as a kind of a leader in his community in ADBG, but aspects of how society would interact with him as he is man of deep dark skin points for other sources of tension among his peers that could lead to this
Around people he trusts, Daniel has no extremes, but he is a warm and caring person capable of great gentleness... The matter tho, as kinda dabbled with in scenario 13 for them, is if he gets enough of a bond with other people to let his guard down
And this isn't because he's stubborn, but as people push his limits and lash out at him for not immediately answering to their desired expectations of vulnerability and open heart at initial stages of the relationship, the hurt he feels both digs at open wounds and create more resistence from his instincts
Aaron, in relationships, has to deal with the matter of how he wants to entrust himself to someone, as in, being open and vulnerable with his emotions without them being used against thim; but due to his height and bulk of muscle, since he's like, 1,97m tall and with a fitness that is born of the desperate need to be strong enough to not be at an abuser's mercy anymore...
In certain aspects of a relationship, he wants to be the one to be taken care of, the one that is more receptive of the affection and its direction than the one who dictates aspects of it, but most men that could fit the bill of what he wants, are not interested in someone whose appearance threaten their masculinity like his
And the times some guys did give him the time of the day, it had traces of aggression and and a desire to humiliate him
Now back at Daniel, he wants his hands to be trusted with a lover's heart, he wants to be seen beyond his facade, beyond indifference, as someone capable of loving and caring for others in a fulfilling manner where is enough
Daniel is 1,80m tall lean man, and still, he never feels threatened in the integrity of his identity as a man due Aaron being taller and stronger
Now, there's a lot of things I need to keep in mind writing this interracial relationship, and one thing I want to make clear is that intimate tendencies of taking care or being taken care of aside, they both work for the relationship to come to full bloom, they both are moving the gears for this to get speed, and Aaron is not someone placed on a pedestal for Daniel to worship
They meet each other halfway in their dynamics of the man who doesn't know how to swim [Aaron] and yet fell in love with the tides of the ocean [Daniel, literally], or, the god [Daniel] and the godkiller [Aaron], when both the act of worship and the subjugation of a deity involves indistinguishable prayer
It's just... they aren't expected to, but they still fit as they fulfill the particular need the other has in relationships, and they understand the complicated history and coping methods each has with their experience with their emotions against how their peers reacted to these emotions
