Need for Understanding
Throughout our lives, we have moments that define us. The moments that can either change who we are or can make us stronger in the person that we already are.
Sometimes, these moments are dark, haunting, and our minds choose to black them out of our memory. Unfortunately when those things occur, it causes confusion later in life when we act on things and don't understand why we choose to do things that are harmful to ourselves or others.
Does all this sound confusing? I understand that. I tend to not make a lot of sense sometimes. Let me give you some specifics.
I am never happy in a relationship. I am always pushing away my significant other, I am always feeling that i am missing something or someone else might be able to give me the missing piece in my life instead of fixing what I have. These are all toxic behaviors and until recently I could never understand the underlying cause behind them.
Lets be honest, I am still not sure I understand the meanting behind it, but I suspect that it started when I was small and was always searching for approval from my father, or my siblings or even the friends around me. When someone would pay a little attention to me, I would cling to that attention and feel that I finally was happy; until someone else paid just a little bit more attention to something else about me and made me feel that much more special. I never was satisfied with who I was as a person.
I never had a storybook "first time" or next time. Sex was something I just did because I thought that maybe it made me more likeable not because it meant anything. Then, I was raped for the first time at a young age so my thought on sex really became nothing. To this day, sex is just an act, it has no meaning. Perhaps that is why the idea of infidelity has no real hurtful meaning to me, but emtional attachment to another person means so much more.
We all have these moments. I know that I am not alone. The problem is no one likes to talk about them. No one likes to admit that these dark moments are a part of their lives. Instead, we like to just move through and do whatever we do and hurt whoever we hurt. Perhaps maybe that is what I should do as well instead of digging so deep into my thoughts. Maybe my life would be so much easier.
A friend recently quoted the line from Yellowstone at me where Rip tells Beth that she makes life harder than she needs to and told me that is what I do as well. Perhaps that is what I do. Perhaps it's time I just start letting go of everything.

I really like being a writer because I get to see my own notes as if they are written by someone else. 'Half a camel rather than a dog' I have no idea what that means, it's so exciting.
I'll be updating Defining Moments today! I'm doing my last edits/deciphering what the stupid author (read: me) was trying to say.

We might be entering the soft spoiler territory with this one, but let us be a little scandalous today, shall we? (´。✪ω✪。`)
First focusing on our wonderful MC, Ada Arcahollow, a defining moment for her would be when she first came into Blasia! She was sent there by a Family that had hired her before, within the Echo Cities. She was barely whisked away and sent to Blasia so that she could remain free, but it defined one thing for Ada: she never wanted to be so helpless and useless to herself and others ever again.
She was shown her own fear and vulnerability that day, and it hits her hard within Marathon Runners, when the same scenario almost happens again to her. Lux even comments on this thought, to Oscar, in one of our brainrot quotes for this WIP.
"I honestly pity the fool who decides to push Ada. She is on the brink of something beautifully terrifying." "What do you mean? I don't think you realize Lux, but she isn't the fighter you're desperately trying to make her into." "No, no she is not. She is something more dangerous than that. And the day someone forces her hand? It will be the day that Iria itself trembles."

The moments that define me are the moments I am watching a video on YouTube on my phone, but it's in that tiny minimize box that you can bring into other apps, I then watch the video at max volume while scrolling in some app like Instagram with one ear out of headphones that are connected to my Xbox controller that I'm using to play a video game. Truly, those are the only times my mind is quiet and I am at peace. It's even more intricately chaotic when I'm on my PC.

Meet the Authors of "Ten Toes Down Vol. 2: Defining Moments"
Defining moments often happen after we are done with all of the planning and right in the middle of a purposeful pursuit. As a result of these experiences, we learn from our struggles and find the courage to change. In Volume II of the Ten Toes Down series, twelve authors share their defining moments with purpose, change, growth, and courage. Each contributing author fearlessly pulls back the veil and gives an unfiltered glance at the growing pains that come with a defining moment Collectively, they share the wisdom that can help any person find the joy of pursuing their purpose no matter how hard it may seem!

Life is short.
I’ll never forgive myself for missing a moment that would have made me feel more alive than I’ve ever felt.
I let it go, and with it I let go of my passion to breath. It could all end tomorrow and nothing would be the difference anymore.
Life lived to the fullest is but a dream now.

22-324 Moments
Today’s MandalaMoments “At the end, one didn’t remember life as a whole but as just a string of moments.” — David Levien “A happy life is just a string of happy moments. But most people don’t allow the happy moment, because they’re so busy trying to get a happy life.” — Esther Hicks “Realize deeply that the present moment is all you have.” — Eckhart Tolle Today’s MotD reminds us that our…

Have you ever had a time when you just sat back and thought about your life? The moments you remember the most? The songs, the places, and the people in those moments?
I find, sadly, as I'm getting older, my memory is not as good as it once was. Not that it's a surprise to me or anything that this lack of brain power has eluded me with age.
The one thing I have noticed, though, is there are those moments; they play in your head again and again as you age.
I have wondered recently if we remember these moments because if we had made a different choice during THESE MOMENTS that our lives would have been so different.
Yes, I know, we can't live on the "What if's" in life but I just think it's curious how some of the simple things stuck with me and yet big events have managed to escape my memory all together.
Like when I was 4 and I pulled my wagon all the way up that hill to try to steal sand from my friend's sandbox because I was jealous that I didn't have one. I can still picture my friend in her bedroom window looking out at me shaking her fingers in the "naughty naughty" sign. It was that moment when I realized that I couldn't steal, God would hate me and I'd probably get grounded.
It was a HUGE moment for me at that age. I felt guilty about trying to steal her sand, heck, I STILL feel guilty 🤣
I just think, they claim your life "flashes before you " when you are about to die. When that happens, will it be those moments? The ones that weighed so heavy on who we became in life? I honestly just wonder so much about those moments and what options were being laid out for me and why I thought I was making the best choice I could at the time.
Obviously, I will never know, nor do they truly make a difference but I do often wonder if I am alone in the fact that I only really remember so much?
Yes, I'm overthinking life.
Yes, I'm pretty tired.
But I can't be alone.
