How to Save a Life
Pairing- Dean x Black Reader, Sam x Reader( Best friends)
Warning- cursing
Your thoughts and other characters are in italics.
A/n- This series will be a slow burner like really slow. Your mother is a character. Basically you have a background.
Tumblr media
Dean is sitting inside baby trying to start her up when Sam walks up to him.
“Do you need any help?” Sam asked.
“You under a hood, no thanks.” Dean answered.
Sam could tell that Dean was not ok. This was the only thing that Dean wanted to do. It was the only thing that he could fix. So when he finally got the parts for his car he never let it and Sam knows that this is his way. This is how Dean grieves he throws himself into whatever he’s working on until he no longer thinks about it.
“Do you need help with anything because I’m not doing anything right now I can help.”
Dean then pick ups a cassette tape and waves it in the air. “This is all the help I need.”
“You stole that from Y/n.” Sam said with an sigh of irritation.
“Borrowed. I borrowed it from Y/n” Dean replied. “I’m gonna give it back.
“Your just going to give her every reason to hate you even more when we need her help.” Sam
“We don’t need her help.” Dean proclaimed as he put the cassette tape in and Press play.
“Ladies and gentlemen you are in for a real treat tonight we have the amazing Margaret Jones singing This Old Heart Of Mine by The Isley Brothers.”
“Not what you expected.” Sam said with an smirk.
“This old heart of mine been broke a thousand times Each time you break away, I fear you've gone to stay.”
“No.....I haven’t heard this since mom.” Dean whispered to himself.
“What are you talking about?” Sam wondered as he sits down in The passenger side.
“I remember mom and dad dancing in the living room to this song.”
“Wow....I didn’t know that.” Sam said with a smile. “She sounds so amazing.”
“That’s Margaret Jones for ya. She was a famous singer back in the day.” Dean answered. “I wondered how did Y/n got a copy. You can’t find her music anywhere.”

It was a slow day at the hospital, and when I mean slow it was slow. Y/n was only treating patients with poison ivy and fevers. That’s what you get when you live in a small town right. It was almost noon so it was time for Y/n to take her break. But as soon as she walks outside to the picnic area she gets a phone call. From her mother.
“Hello.”
“Hello, Maggie how’s your day?” Margaret asked.
“Good. I’m just about to go on break.” Y/n said as she sits down at under a shady tree.
“I was hoping we could meet for lunch?” Margaret asked.
“Ya,ok I’ll be at the house.”
“See you then.” Margaret said as she hangs up the phone.
“Going on break?” Your best friend asked her as she walked up to her.
“Yup, be back in two.......don’t have fun with out me.” Y/n said with a smile.
Y/n walks out the hospital and gets into her car and drives home. When she finally gets home she goes to put on her mother’s song on and but AC/DC Back in Black comes on.
“Huh?” Y/n said. “I thought I put it in.....”
Y/n checks the AC/DC case and find it empty. She then starts to check all her cases and can’t find it anywhere then she realized.
“Dean.” Riley seethed.
Y/n hurries and change out of her clothes and rush out the house to get in her car.
She then calls Bobby.
“Hey, Y/n.”
“Where is he?” Y/n asked in a calm voice. But she was barely containing her anger.
“Who?”
“Dean Winchester.”
“Last I heard they were at Ellen’s bar.” Bobby answered.
“Thank you.” Y/n hangs up the phone and starts her car up then drives to Ellen’s bar.
○ ○ ○ ○ ○ ○ ○ ○ ○ ○ ○ ○ ○ ○
Dean and Sam are sitting at the bar. Ellen walks up and lays down a couple of beers.
“You boys did a hell of a job. Your dad'd be proud.” Ellen proclaimed.
“Thanks.” Sam said with a small smile.
Jo, sitting down on the other side of Dean, gives Sam a look.
“Oh yeah, um, I've gotta... uh, uh, I've gotta go. Over there. Right now.” Sam uttered as she walks to the other side of the bar.
“So.” Jo said clearing her throat.
“So.”
“Am I gonna see you again?” Jo wondered with a quizzical smile.
“Do you want to?” Dean asked.
“I wouldn't hate it.” Jo answered with a coy smile.
At the same time all of this is going on Y/n drives ups to the bar and gets out the car and walks in.
“Oh no.” Sam whispered.
Y/n walks up to Dean and punch’s him in the stomach. She hits him so hard the punch making him throw up his beer.
“What.....was......that for?” Dean drawled as he laid on the ground.
“Were is it?” Y/n barked.
“Where’s what?” Dean choked as he gets up from the ground.
“You really gonna play dumb.” Y/n stated as she looks Dean dead in the eyes.
“So I see you met Y/n.” Ellen said with a smile.
“Hey Sam, hey Jo , hey Ellen how’s it been?” Y/n asked.
“It’s been good.” Ellen answered.
“How do you and Dean know each other?” Jo questioned.
“He almost dropped a car on me.” Y/n answered as she looks over at Ellen.
“That’ll do it.” Ellen remarked.
“Oh no I’m not here because of that.” Y/n looks back over at Dean. “I let you into my home and you steal from me.
“Borrowed, I was gonna bring it back.”
“Where is it?” Y/n questioned.
“At Bobby’s” Dean answered.
“Your coming with me to go get it now.” Y/n voiced. “Sam, you need a ride.”
“I’m good I’ll stay here and talk to Ash.” Sam replied.
“Ok tell him I said hi.” Y/n said. “Bye”
Y/n grabs Dean and drags him out the bar. “Get in.” Dean gets in the passenger side of Y/n’s car. Y/n walks over to the driver side. Before she gets inside her car she sighed heavily.
Why....just why.
Y/n gets in her car, start it up, pulls out of the parking lot and drive away.
○ ○ ○ ○ ○ ○ ○ ○ ○ ○ ○ ○ ○ ○
The car ride was quite. Y/n was focused on driving while Dean was Sneaking glances at Y/n. Dean wanted to say something but he just didn’t know how to word it.
“Look...I’m sorry ok I really was gonna bring it back.” Dean disclosed.
“Ya, I bet you were.” Y/n said sarcastically. “....You know just by knowing you for a couple of days that’s all you’ve been saying to me is ‘I’m sorry’.”
“What can I say I should come with a hazard warning.” Dean said with a coy smile. “By the way that punch.....where did you learn how to do that?”
“My granddaddy was a Four-Star General. He made sure all his grandchildren knew how to fight.” Y/n answered.
“Was he the one that got you into hurting?” Dean wondered.
“What got you into hurting?” Y/n asked tightly.
Dean pauses and sits there quite contemplating if he’s going to say anything or not.
“Don’t expect me to be an open book, Winchester?” Y/n informed sassily.
When Y/n pulls up to Bobby’s house she see a 1967 Chevrolet Impala. She turns the car off and Dean gets out and walks over to to his. He run his hand on the side of it with a faintly smile on his face.
“So this was the car I was giving Bobby parts for.” Y/n stated. “This yours?”
“Ya.” Dean answered. “Those parts came from you?”
“Ya.” Y/n replied.
Dean walks over to the driver side and opens the door. He reaches in and get the cassette tape, then hand it to Y/n.
“I can’t believe you have a Margaret Jones.” Dean chuckled.
“Ya.” Y/n said with a tight-lipped smile.
Y/n is about to get back in her car when Dean softly grabs her arm making her pauses.
“Maybe I took it because I wanted a reason to see you again.” Dean
Y/n looks at Dean with a blank expression then she laughs a hearty laugh.
Dean drops his hand and looks away in defeat. “It was Worth a short.”
“You almost killed me with my car, then you stole my cassette tape and you think a one liner is gonna get me in bed with you.” Y/n laughed. “Goodbye, Winchester.
Dean looks back as Y/n walks back to her car. Before he can say anything he get Tail pipes smog. Y/n looks in the rearview mirror at Dean with a smile then
drives off.

Across town at a little café, Margaret is waiting for her daughter. Outside at a table. She was just about to call her when Y/n walks up to the table and sits down.
“Hey, Maggie what took you so long?” Margaret wondered as she sips her tea.
“I got.... held up.” Y/n remarked.
“I wanted to have lunch you so we could talk about your brother.” Margaret announced.
Y/n gets up from sit and is about to walks away. She’s already had to deal with the shit with Dean. Now her mother wants to talk to about Malcolm. This day keeps getting better for Y/n. Margaret calls out to Y/n which makes her stop and turn around to look at her.
“Maggie, your brother misses you so much there are things-.”
“If he misses me so much send him a picture.” Y/n said meaning the words more seriously than they sounded.
”Can you please talk to him for me.” Margaret insisted.
“Ma, I love you but Malcolm is no longer my brother.....not after what he said.” Y/n stated. “Or did you forget.”
“No I didn’t......no one will ever understand what you when though that night.” Margaret replied.
Y/n’s pager beep. “I’m sorry ma but I got to go and I’ll see you for dinner, ok”
A/n- I still don’t know if I’m going to write smut but if I do it will be separate stores and I hope you don’t mind the nickname Maggie.

Junkyard
PG-13 oneshot: semi-angst into fluff. Thanks so much for reading!! I would love any advice or critiques, and please let me know if you’d like to be tagged in anything :)
Title: Junkyard
Pairing: Dean X Reader
Word Count: 2170
Summary: Bobby’s a little too overprotective of you with Dean. Sam is very much a younger brother about it.
Tumblr media
gif not mine! please let me know if you know whose it is so I can give them credit!
Dean’s hand slipped under your t-shirt, his fingers ice cold from the Sioux Falls October night. You gripped his collar with one hand, the other running through his gelled hair. The tip of his nose was cool against your cheek as his lips crashed into yours, and you nipped at him with your tongue. He answered in kind, pulling you into him. Your jeans slid on the trunk of the old junk car under the pressure until you were ground up against Dean’s belt where he stood. He slipped his other hand into your hair, gripping the base of your neck and exposing your throat before kissing and sucking hungrily. You groaned involuntarily and could feel Dean smile into your soft skin. Sliding down his chest, you gripped his belt buckle and flicked it open with one hand, your turn to grin when Dean gasped softly.
He leaned into you, the hand on your head lowering you urgently but gently onto the trunk. The exposed skin on your back screamed at the freezing cold metal but you didn’t care, trying to yank him over you like a blanket while he tore at his jacket.
“Boy if you don’t get that poor girl inside I’ll tan your ass and use it as a coin purse! It’s damn near freezing out! You must think I’m pretty goddamn stupid and I’ll tell you: I was born at night but it wasn’t last night!” Bobby yelled from the house, his voice carrying over the salvage yard.
“Fuck,” Dean pulled away to whisper through gritted teeth. He pressed his forehead into you, waiting for a beat while you both caught your breath before leaning back to offer a hand. You took it and hopped down from the perch of the trunk. Feeling in the dark for any major bumps, you adjusted your ponytail and yanked your shirt down to meet the waist of your jeans. Dean re-buckled his belt and held out his arm so you could go first back to Bobby’s house.
Coming through the door, the first thing you saw was Sam sitting at the kitchen table. He smiled up at you slyly without raising his head, and you were thankful that the cold air had already flushed your cheeks. Bobby was a few steps behind him, thankfully looking past you at Dean. If looks could kill, Dean would be burning alive.
“How was your, uh, walk?” Sam asked with the kind of smug grin only he could deliver.
“Fine,” you said briskly, adding a tight lipped nod. Sam looked past you to Dean, whose smile was popped open at the edge by his tongue in his cheek. You shot him a warning look and he closed his mouth.
           “Great,” Dean added.
Bobby slammed down the casserole dish he was holding with enough force that you listened for the Pyrex to crack. “Here you go then,” he said, even more gruffly than normal.
Dinner was so awkward and silent that it made you sick to your stomach. You tried your best to look only down at your plate, the glances you stole showing Sam’s barely contained glee at Dean having been caught out and Bobby’s barely contained disdain at it. When you finally finished your plate, you grabbed all the empty dishes within reach and headed to the kitchen sink with them. “Thanks for dinner, Bobby! I’m beat, I’ll see you all tomorrow!” you threw over your shoulder as you went, feeling for all the world like a frog trying to climb out of a near-boiling pot.
“Not so fast, kid,” Bobby barked. You set the dishes down quietly in the sink and marched back to your seat at the table. “We need to have a talk.”
Sam sat still, but you could tell from the expression on his face that he would’ve been exploding out of his chair with schadenfreude if he could.
“I’ll leave you guys alone, then. Goodnight! Dinner was great, Bobby,” Dean said, playing dumb in an effort to escape himself. Bobby slapped one open palm on the table hard and the older Winchester returned to his seat. Dean had been keeping it together remarkably well, but the color drained from his face as he settled.
Bobby sat silently for a few agonizing moments before speaking. “Now. I know you boys haven’t had a lot of experience living with a young woman before—”
“Oh. My. God.” Sam said under his breath excitedly. Bobby glared at him.
“But I will be damned if you plan on treating this house like some sleazy frat basement!” he yelled, building steam. You were absolutely mortified, unable to even look at Dean or Sam. “Now get your dumb asses up and go to bed. Don’t make me give this speech again.” His voice was low and grim as you got up and pushed your chair in. Sam and Dean got up too, but you heard Bobby growl a dark “sit” to Dean as you and Sam walked away. You felt a tinge of guilt at leaving him alone, but it was nothing compared to the dread that fell over you at the thought of sitting at the table a second longer.
Sam followed you up the stairs. “Holy shit,” he whispered. “You think he’s going to kill him?” You knew he was joking, but were scared at what Bobby was going to say to Dean anyway. It was ridiculous, for three adults to be wrapped up so much in the opinion of a man who wasn’t the real father of any of you, and yet you felt exactly like a reprimanded child.
You changed quickly into a big old t-shirt and worn cotton sweatpants, padding down the hallway in a messy bun to wash your face and brush your teeth when Bobby started yelling. Sam shot his head out of the bathroom curiously and came to the stair landing with you to listen.
“This is not a random girl in some town you’re passing through, Dean!”
Dean responded too quietly for you and Sam to hear.
“That’s how you treat her with respect? Slip her out the back door to fool around in a damn junkyard?!” You heard a crash that you thought sounded like one of the chairs being tossed to the ground. When Bobby spoke again he was quieter; Sam and you leaned in to hear him.
“If you make that girl shed one tear, boy, so help me God you’ll be wishing you were back in Hell.”
Sam sucked air through his teeth, wincing. You realized your mouth was hanging open, stunned both that Bobby could cut that deep and that he seemed not to trust you to protect yourself at all. You weren’t stupid; of course you knew Dean’s reputation. On some level, you were worried he might live up to it. But for now he was gorgeous and it was a little lonely staying with Bobby up in Sioux Falls. You were having fun, and the fallout was for you to beat yourself up about in the future, not now.
When you heard movement in the kitchen, you darted into the bathroom and Sam tried to head down the stairs casually to the day bed in the library. You brushed your teeth and washed your face brusquely, making it back to the spare bedroom without seeing Bobby head to the other bedroom upstairs. Pulling the old comforter over you on the old brass bed, you fell asleep fitfully.
You woke with a start feeling like you were being watched. Based on the dim glow creeping through the slats between your blinds, it was at least a few hours after you went to sleep. When you scanned the room, Dean’s silhouette filled the doorframe.
“What’re you doing?” you whispered urgently.
“I wanted to see if you were up,” he answered, stepping into the room so that the moonlight illuminated his face. The shape of his full lips made you ache, the shadow of his jaw onto his neck begging to be touched. You realized as always that his socked feet were his only concession to the hour; his “pajamas” were his still-belted jeans with a t-shirt.
“I’m up now, what’s going on?” Dean kept took a few more steps into the room toward you, biting his lip slowly. You got up to your elbows, the old bed’s springs creaking underneath you. “What’re you doing?” you repeated. “Bobby’s going to kill us,”
“I think you mean Bobby’s going to kill me,” he smiled, half of his face obscured by shadow. He was standing at the foot of your bed now, fiddling with the hem of a blanket. “Seems pretty interested in protecting you from the big bad womanizer.”
“Yeah, I heard some of that,” you offered cautiously.
“Figured you and Sam would be listening. Hear everything?”
“Not everything, but enough. So come on, don’t poke the bear. Go to sleep, I’ll see you tomorrow.” You laid back down, tucking the comforter up under your chin. Dean didn’t move.
           “You don’t want me here?”
You smiled in the dark. “Dean, Bobby’s room is like 15 feet away.”
“Guess we’ll have to be quiet then.”
Dean rounded the corner of the bed and leaned down, grazing your lips with his. He knew what he was doing, and you could only hold out for a second before greedily snatching the back of his head and sliding your mouth onto his. The bed groaned in response to the extra weight and you pulled away sharply, alarmed at the noise.
Dean grabbed the extra blankets you kept at the foot of your bed for extra cold nights in Bobby’s drafty Midwestern house and spread them on the floor in a sort of picnic-nest before spinning around and picking you up off the bed, comforter and all. You put a hand over your mouth to keep from giggling as he lowered you both down onto the blankets. “Better?” he asked as you nodded into his chest. Warmth came off of him through the thin cotton of his t-shirt, seeping into you like melting honey. Easing down until your chests pressed together, he kissed you deeply and softly without any of the urgency he had in the junkyard. You relished in the roughness of his hands and stubble on you as he took his time exploring your lips and neck. Dean pulled away to take a breath, leaning back on his knees.
           “Wait,” he whispered.
“What’s wrong?” you spit out, scared he might’ve heard something in the hallway.
Dean looked down at you and the shadows caught all the angles in his face. He looked into your eyes and then out the window, biting his lip.
“I’m not just messing around,” he finally said. There must’ve been enough moonlight for him to see your face because Dean pursed his lips in frustration. “I mean what Bobby said is not true. Or maybe it was before, but not now, not with you. I don’t want you to feel like I’m using you.”
“Dean, I know what this is, it’s okay. You don’t have to worry about ‘sparing my feelings’ or whatever,” you replied, touching his chest. He grabbed your wrist.
“Sparing your feelings? No, that’s what I mean. I want it to be more than…this,” he said, gesturing to the blankets surrounding you on the floor. “I just, I want to be, like, with you,” he mumbled.
“Are you serious?” you replied, sitting up.
“I, uh, I mean yeah,” he said, leaning back onto his heels. “If you want to.” Seeing Dean shy and nervous like a teenager this way was unusual, and it caught you off guard.
“Uh, wow,” you breathed, unsure of what to say. “I didn’t know you like, dated, or whatever.”
He let out a chuckle and rubbed the back of his neck. “Yeah I guess I don’t really, huh?”
“So this is you asking me out?”
“Yeah. But only if you’re going to say yes.” The half-smile playing at the corner of his mouth looked more like the Dean you knew.
“And if I did, would that make this our first date?” you asked, pulling at a loose thread from your sweatpants’ hem.
“I was thinking dinner or something, but I mean, sure, why not?”
“Hmmm, bummer,” you thought aloud with a smile. “Thought you’re not supposed to have sex until the third date.”
Without Dean’s hand behind your head it would’ve cracked against the floorboards with the force of him suddenly slamming into you, but instead you were enveloped in his kiss and the scent of leather and pine that always floated around him. You giggled into his lips when you felt Dean grin against you, and he pulled away a few centimeters. Your breath mixed as he asked, “That’s a yes, right?” It was all you could do to nod as you melted into each other, turning into a tangle of muffled little laughs, discarded clothes, and heavy, warm breaths.

Tumblr media
Pairing: Dean x reader(ish)
Warnings: N/A
Summary: You and Dean were inseparable from the moment you met; a true match made in heaven. You were killed in the big showdown with Lucifer and Michael (S5), but were brought back to life along side Sam. Heartbreak quickly took over your life after finding out that Dean had already moved on with Lisa so soon after your death.
Series Masterlist
-------------‐--------------------------------
You sighed as you looked over at Sam and Dean. You and Sam had been doing research for 5 straight days trying to help Bobby out with a case. Dean would come over and help when he could. Sam was in the living room, his nose buried in a book and Dean was sitting with his feet up on the kitchen table, pretending to look studious as he fought off his heavy eye lids. You stood up to stretch your legs and wandered over to the window. It had snowed all night and all morning, leaving the outside world blanketed with pillowy, inviting flakes. The corners of your mouth crept up in a slight smile as an idea came to your mind. You quickly grabbed your jacket that had been slung across the back of your chair which startled Dean enough to wake him up. He sloppily wiped a bit of drool from his mouth and looked over to find an irritated Sam glaring at him. You jogged a few steps to the back door and pulled your boots on.
“Where are you going?” You could hear Sam ask from the other room.
“I’ll be right back!”
You stepped outside and the chilly wind instantly burned the back of your throat, but you didn’t care. You were just happy to not be looking at the worn pages of another lore book. You bent down and scooped the snow together in your hands creating 2 perfect snowballs. A mischievous grin spread on your face as you stomped back into the living room of Bobby’s house. Sam was your first target; he was so unaware of what was about to hit him. Literally. You pulled back your arm, took your aim, and launched the snowball, nailing him square in the face. The shocked look on his face was priceless.
“Hah!” Dean looked up and tauntingly laughed from the table on the other side of the room. His laugh quickly turned into a frown as you threw the second snowball at him. He paused and blinked a few times before wiping the snow from his face. He turned to look at you, and you couldn’t tell if he was angry or not. The three of you exchanged glances, a few seconds of silence passing while you all gauged the situation before Dean stood up giving you a perfect, playful smile.
“Oh, sweetheart, you don’t know what you just started.” He ran at you and you turned to run away, giving a squeal as you did. You were fast, but Dean was faster. You had a few good steps on him, but as you reached the staircase, he grabbed you by your waist, throwing you over his shoulder and marching out the door with you.
“Let me go!” You laughed as he tickled your sides.
“If you say so.” He ran across the yard and gently tossed you into a big snowbank, giving your system a shock. You shot up and tried to shake the snow out from your clothes.
“This means war, Winchester!” You shouted as you ran full speed at Dean, rugby tackling him into the few feet of snow piled up behind him.
Sam popped out from behind an icy car with an armful of huge snowballs. “Gotcha both!” He exclaimed as he pelted the two of you. Dean pulled you underneath him and turned his back to Sam, protecting you. You got lost in his green eyes for a moment as he pulled his face close to yours. “One, two, three!” Dean counted down and you knew exactly what his plan was, without needing to discuss it. The two of you had always been on the same wavelength, making you the perfect hunting (and snowball fight) partners. You both turned and ran at Sam, Dean grabbed your hand tight and extended his arm as the two of you clotheslined the taller brother, knocking him backwards. You stole the few snowballs Sam had dropped and threw them at the two boys.
“I thought we were on a team now?!” Dean grinned at you as he crouched down and began to form the snow in his hands. He cocked his arm back and launched it at you as you ducked behind a car. It just missed you. You sat with your back to the car door, catching your breath and looking on either side of you, waiting for one of the boys to jump out at you.
Dean had climbed on top of the car and jumped down in front of you. “Ha ha! I’ve got you right where I want you!” You laughed and slipped as you tried to get up, causing you to laugh even harder. Dean pulled you backwards by your feet. Kneeling on either side of you, he pinned you down with a snowball in hand. “Do you surrender?!” He demanded.
“Yes, yes fine!” Your stomach hurt from all the laughing. Dean dropped the snowball and huffed. He flopped down in the snow next to you, catching his breath and letting out a little laugh.
“That was the most fun I’ve had in a long time. I mean, the look on Sam’s face when you threw that first snowball at him. Priceless!” He turned to look at you, pulling you close to him. “Thanks, Y/N/N.” It had been so long since you had seen Dean smile a genuine smile like the one he was giving to you now. Your heart fluttered and memories of your relationship came flooding back the minute you looked into his eyes. He looked back at you and for a moment, nothing and no one else existed. This felt so right and so natural, like it had always felt with him when you were together. This was a joy that you rarely felt anymore, and you knew that the only thing bringing it to you was Dean. He brushed a stray hair behind your ear as his eyes wandered down to your lips.
“Dean?” A distant voice called. It was Lisa. You both sat up quickly. Overwhelming happiness quickly turned to heart break.
“Crap!” Dean said under his breath as he checked his watch. “We’re supposed to go to a neighbor’s house for dinner tonight. I should have been home 40 minutes ago. I just lost track of time.” He stood up and brushed the snow from his clothes.
“I’m sorry, this is my fault. I shouldn’t have started that stupid snowball fight.” You apologized.
“No, no I haven’t laughed like that in…” Dean paused, “hell, I don’t know how long. Don’t you dare apologize for that.” He reached out a hand to help you up, but you waved him off.
“I’m okay, you go. It’s probably better if Lisa doesn’t see me. I’ll stay hidden behind this old hunk a’ junk until you guys leave.” You patted the car behind you and tried to muster up a fake smile. Dean didn’t buy it. Lisa hated when your relationship with Dean was brought up, and she equally disliked you being around him.
“Listen, Y/N/N, I- “
“Dean?!” Lisa’s voice interrupted him. She was clearly getting angrier and closer.
Dean opened his mouth as if to say something to you, but instead just exhaled and looked at you with longing eyes. You broke the eye contact after a few seconds and moved your gaze to the ground.
“Bye, Y/N.” Dean muttered. You could hear his footsteps crunch in the snow as he walked away.
“Where the hell were you?!” You could hear Lisa demand in the background.
“Sam and I were just having a snowball fight.” Dean tried to explain himself. You noticed he had left your name out on purpose.
“I swear you two are children when you are around each other.”
You hated the way she talked down to him. Like he was some disobedient puppy on a leash. You heard another set of crunching footsteps approach you. Sam walked around the car and sat down next to you; you leaned your head on his shoulder. Your heavy heart had returned, and you felt empty again.
A few moments passed as you both waited to make sure Dean and Lisa had left. Sam broke the silence once he heard the back door close. “You know, you can talk to me, right Y/N?”
“Yeah, Sammy, thank you.” You looked up and gave him a halfhearted smile.
“No, not like this beat around the bush kind of talking. Like, really telling me how you feel. About Dean, about Lisa, about life. Anything and everything. You can trust me to keep your secrets. I feel like you and I are in the same boat right now. Neither of us expected to die, never mind come back, and it’s hard to see how life, Dean especially, changed while we were gone. I can tell this is all weighing on you. You’re not the same as you used to be.” He arched his neck to look down at you as much as he could. “If it makes you feel any better, I don’t like Lisa. Not at all. I don’t get what Dean sees in her. She has changed him into someone that I barely recognize, and I know you see it too.” Sam let out a small sigh of relief. “Man, I’ve been wanting to get that off my chest for a while.” His demeanor became more serious. “You know, I thought you and Dean would be together forever.”
His words helped you a little. “I thought we would be too. I guess I was just making our relationship out to be more than it really was.” You shrugged.
“What do you mean?” He questioned.
“I hadn’t even been dead for that long and he had already moved in with another woman. I’ve had a lot of time to think about this, and if the situations were reversed, then I would rather live the rest of my life alone than be with someone else if I lost Dean.”
“I don’t have an explanation for that, but I do know that you weren’t making it out to be more than it was. Dean was head over heels in love with you. I knew it from, literally, the moment we met you. And honestly, I think he still is. He just does a good job of hiding it.”
“Everyday hurts, Sam. Every time I have to see him with her.” You whispered. “Lately I’ve been asking myself why I’m still here. I mean, Dean asked us to stick around here and make a home base, but I don’t know if I can do that anymore.”
“You’re thinking about leaving?” He frowned.
“Yeah, maybe... I don’t know.” You traced circles in the snow beneath you. “What good am I doing here? Why do I keep putting myself through this pain? If I left, I could try and move on with my life.”
Sam nodded and waited a few moments before saying, “Well, I can’t stop you from leaving, or tell you how to live your life, but I’m going to miss you like hell if you do go. You’re literally my sister. But I understand where you’re coming from. I miss being out on the road and just living case to case. Domestic life isn’t for me, not right now anyway. But I could never leave Dean here by himself, so I’ll figure out a hybrid of the two.”
You didn’t say anything because you didn’t want to break down in tears. Sam could tell. “Let’s get back inside and change. It’s been a nice to take a break from research. We’ll go grab some hot chocolate and dinner before we dive back into the books. Deal?”
You smiled and nodded at him. Sam helped you up and put his arm around you as you walked back inside. “Sorry I hit you in the face with a snowball… multiple times.” You joked and elbowed his side a little.
“Oh, I’ll get you back for that at some point, don’t you worry. It was just good to see a glimpse of the old you again.” Sam smiled and held the door open for you. It felt good to vent to Sam, and it felt even better knowing that he was on the same page as you about Lisa. You didn’t want to hate her; you weren’t that kind of a person. But you just couldn’t help it.

It’s Just a Little Crush (au / 2.2k words)
Prompt 7 from my ‘30 Destiel Prompts’ for @starclaire
ao3 link
“Okay guys, we got a little time to kill before the bell so talk amongst yourselves. But keep it quiet.” Dean warns.
It’s an ordinary Tuesday morning in Dean’s home room class. He’s got a good bunch this year - a few interesting personalities for sure.
“Mr Winchester?”
Ah, speaking of interesting personalities.
“Yes, Krissy?” He looks up from the lesson plan he’d put together for his sophomore class first period. He frowns when he sees the eyes of all twenty-something kids staring back at him. “What’s going on?”
Nothing would surprise him anymore. He may have only been teaching at this particular school for a couple of years but he’d been an auto shop teacher for going on ten. He’d seen everything. And that’s why he knew having his entire home room look at him, like his kids currently were, wasn’t always a good thing.
“What’s the deal with you and Mr Novak?” She smirks.
Mr Novak, Castiel, is head of the history department. He’d started at the school about a year before Dean. He’s a little dorky and doesn’t always get people’s jokes or references but Dean knows the kids love him. He’s had many auto shop classes that begin with students telling him all about the ‘totally awesome’ history lesson they’d just had with Mr Novak.
Dean pretends not to understand the implication in Krissy’s question. “What do you mean?”
But Krissy isn’t letting it go. “It’s just that we’ve all noticed that you get into the same car with Mr Novak every day after school.” She shrugs, feigning innocence as if her words aren’t peppered with sly suggestions. “And we all know it’s your car because you never stop going on about it even though it’s old as hell and no one, except old men, drive cars like that anymore.”
Dean tries not to be offended on behalf of his baby. He wasn’t going to argue with a teenager about the merits of a well-kept classic vintage car. Not again anyway.
“It ain’t any of your business, Krissy, but Mr Novak doesn’t have a car so I drive him home.” Dean explains. “Happy?”
Krissy seems to relent, realising she’s not going to get a rise out of her teacher today.
“Nah,” comes a voice from the back row. “I reckon there’s more to it than that.”
The class shuffles around to reveal Claire Novak smirking back at the teacher. She has a mischievous look in her eyes that Dean doesn’t like. She has the rest of the students intrigued though.
Claire’s sly look only gets bigger as she begins to speak again. “I think they’re secretly dating,” she says, never taking her eyes off Dean, watching for his reaction.
Dean sighs. Where is that damn bell?
“No, Claire, me and Mr Novak are not dating,” he denies. “And you of all people should know that.”
Claire is Castiel’s niece. Her dad is Castiel’s twin brother, Jimmy. Jimmy came to school to pick Claire up once and it weirded everyone out seeing the exact replica of their favourite teacher stood right next to the man himself.
“Okay, fine,” Claire relents, “but you like him, right?”
Dean is saved from answering by the bell finally ringing.
*  *  *
Dean was foolish to hope that the details of the interrogation he’d received would stay in home room.
By third period, he’d heard students from each of his classes whisper as they were meant to be working. He couldn’t make out everything they were saying but he kept hearing the words ‘crush’ and ‘Mr Novak’ in the same sentence.
Crush? Dean is a grown man. He hasn’t had a crush since he met his first boyfriend when he was sixteen.
He takes a deep breath. It’ll blow over soon.
*  *  *
It does not blow over.
A week later and everyone is still talking about. Even some of the other teachers have been giving Dean knowing looks every time he’s sat next to Castiel in the teacher’s lounge. Though, Cas seems to remain none the wiser.
By the end of the day, Dean is glad to see his baby. He couldn’t wait to get home and be distracted from the rumours of his feelings for his fellow teacher.
As usual, Castiel joins him for the journey. Luckily, none of their students seem to be around when they get into the car.
Once they leave the school parking lot, Dean breathes a sigh of relief. He can just be himself now, and not worry about what other people are thinking.
The two men sit in silence for a few moments. Dean’s eyes are on the road ahead. Driving always calms him.
“Dean, can I ask you something?”
“Think you just did, Cas,” Dean smirks, not taking his eyes from the road.
“You’re hilarious,” Castiel replies. Dean sees him roll his eyes from the corner of his own. His smirk just gets bigger.
“I’ve been hearing some things around school recently,” Cas says, his voice changing to a more serious tone. “And, I just wanted to ask. Do you have a crush on me?”
It’s silent in the car for a few moments until Dean is the first to crack.
He lets out a loud bark of laughter. “I can’t believe you managed to say that with a straight face.” He chuckles, shaking his head in amusement.
The car pulls into the driveway of a modest two-storey house. Dean cuts the engine and turns to Cas.
The other man is quietly laughing too. He looks quite amused with himself. He is honestly such a dork, Dean thinks.
But then his face turns serious again. “You didn’t answer my question. Do you have a crush on me?” He asks again.
Dean thinks for a minute, taking in the man sitting in front of him. “Do I have a crush on my best friend, and husband of thirteen years? Yeah, I guess I do.”
Dean gives Cas a teasing smile and leans across the passenger seat to bring his husband into a smiling kiss.
*  *  *
Later that evening, Dean and Castiel are laying together in their bed. Only a lamp on the nightstand lights the room, letting out a relaxing glow.
Castiel reaches out to let Dean cuddle up to him. Dean rests his head on Castiel’s chest. He plays with the fingers on Castiel’s left hand. Castiel lets him and goes with the movement when Dean turns his hand over to reveal the small ‘18’ tattooed on the underside of his ring finger.
They’d met on September 18th in their junior year of high school. From that day, Castiel had been Dean’s first and only crush.
Castiel and Jimmy had just transferred from their old school. It was some old-fashioned super religious school but some bad shit had gone down and the school had to close. Dean’s school had been the next best thing according to Castiel's overbearing, church-going, Jesus devotee parents.
Dean and Castiel became inseparable by the time it came for them to graduate. By then, everyone knew they were together but they didn’t care. The honeymoon phase never seemed to end for them.
For obvious reasons, Castiel’s parents were the only ones who had never found out about their relationship. Given what they thought about anyone who wasn’t straight, the boys thought it was safer to keep it from them. They didn’t know what they might try to do to Castiel if they found out.
The day after their graduation, Dean had packed up his car and they ran away. They went to college in another state and never looked back. Castiel had left his parents a note explaining everything and telling them not to try and contact him - though Castiel didn’t think they’d want to after they’d found out he was gay.
Dean’s family knew where they’d gone (they’d always been supportive of their relationship since the beginning). They welcomed Castiel into their family and treated him like their own. They’d visit the boys for the holidays and eventually, once Dean’s brother, Sam, finished high school, they all moved to be closer to their boys.
Castiel had felt guilty for years for leaving his brother but in their second year of college, Jimmy tracked Castiel down and told him he’d left too. (Turns out he’d got his high school girlfriend, Amelia, pregnant and their parents didn’t take kindly to it happening out of wedlock.)
Dean and Castiel got married while they were still in college. Most people would warn them against getting married so young but their family knew they weren’t being naive. They were it for each other.
They had a small ceremony on the anniversary of their first meeting. Sam and Jimmy had been best men and two-year-old Claire was their flower girl. (Despite what her attitude now might make you think, she was an adorable toddler who stole the show with her adorable presence.)
Over the years, they’d kept their marriage on the down low. Castiel was a little paranoid that his parents would somehow find them and try to take him away from Dean and their family. They had a lot of connections and Castiel wouldn’t put it past them to use those connections to find him.
So, when they both became teachers and ended up working at the same high school, Castiel had asked Dean if he could be called Mr Novak so as not to draw attention to them. (Same sex marriage might be legal now but it would still turn heads to have two husbands teaching at the same school, which was the kind of thing Castiel wanted to avoid.) Dean had agreed, he just wanted his husband to feel safe. They still went home together at the end of the day and that’s all that mattered to him.
But it is that exact act which has led them to where they are now.
“Dean,” Castiel speaks into his husband’s hair. “I think it’s time to tell everyone the truth.”
Dean turns to sit up properly and look at Castiel.
“Are you sure? We don’t have to. I know you love and I sure as shit love you,” he reassures Cas. “Plus, it’s only your teacher name that’s still ‘Novak’. Legally, you’re a Winchester,” he smiles.
“I know, but I want to be honest with our coworkers and students too.” Castiel explains. “And maybe I want to show them that you’re not the only one with a crush,” he teases.
“Awesome.” Dean beams. “We don’t have to make a big deal out of it anyways. We’ll just start wearing our rings tomorrow and they’ll figure it out.”
Castiel nods in agreement.
Dean could just burst with happiness. He’d finally be able to show Castiel off like he’s always wanted to.
Currently, his wedding ring sat against his chest on a silver chain under his shirt. Castiel keeps his safely tucked away, only taking it out for special family occasions (hence why he got the tattoo - as a more subtle and personal token of his love for Dean). Dean couldn’t wait to feel the weight of the ring on his finger every day. And knowing Castiel would be walking around with his matching one makes Dean smile like a love-sick dork.
Suddenly feeling like a kid on Christmas Eve, Dean settles down into the sheets again, eagerly awaiting sleep to take him so it could hurry up and be morning.
He’s just drifting into sleep when Castiel’s voice whispers against his ear.
“Dean?”
Dean hums, not mustering the energy to turn over and face his husband.
“Not that I’m not happy that it gave me the perspective to stop being scared, but where did the rumours of you having a crush on me come from anyway?”
Trust Cas to think of the semantics just as Dean is trying to sleep.
Dean only has one word.
“Claire.”
Castiel sighs. “I should have known. I’ll talk to her.”
Dean finally turns to look at Cas in the eyes. Green meets blue. “Don’t sweat it, babe,” he smiles. “She’s just teasing like all teenagers do. She would never actually tell anyone anything we’re not comfortable with.”
Castiel shrugs and nods his head in silent agreement.
“I’ll just get her back when we go to your brother’s for dinner on Sunday.” Dean yawns, cheekily.
Castiel rolls his eyes. The joking rivalry between Dean and their niece never seems to end.
Dean smirks and leans over to kiss Castiel. “Goodnight, Mr Winchester.”
“Good night, Dean.”
*  *  *
The next morning, Dean walks into his home room class and begins the regular formalities of the morning.
Claire walks in late a few minutes later. She says nothing to Dean until she sits down at her desk, puts her feet up on the table, and says in a nonchalant manner, “Nice ring, Mr Winchester.”
The rest of the class look to Dean’s hand. Sure enough there’s a silver band on his left hand that hadn’t been there the day before.
“I just saw a matching one on my uncle’s hand when I handed in my history project. Isn’t that a funny coincidence?” She smirks as the rest of the students’ mouths drop open. Dean’s known Claire long enough to know that it’s a smirk of love though.
The news of his and Castiel’s marriage (and Castiel’s new teacher name) reaches his freshman class by second period. He should have known it wouldn’t take long.

Along for the Ride
Tumblr media
Dean Winchester x Reader
Words: 3007
Summary: When you first started hunting with Dean Winchester, you hadn’t expected it to last this long. Together, you face all kinds of ghouls and basically become the ultimate badass couple. But when you start to think you’re just another fling for him, he has no trouble correcting you.
Notes: This is meant to be a fluffier Dean piece, but you know me, I have to have a bit of angst. I am trying to break up Dean’s darker imagines with fluff, so be prepared for Friday.
Special shout out to my amazing beta reader Sarah, @suckmysupernatural . I love her so much and honestly, she’s helped me so much in getting these imagines out for you and she has some absolutely killer writing of her own!

You swung your knife hard into the blood-sucker’s neck, his head rolling across the warehouse floor. You turned to see Dean saw off another one himself, blood covering both of your clothes.
“That’s the last of them.” He groaned, lifting up his shirt to examine the bruises and cuts. “That son of a bitch really put up a fight.” You wiped your stained blade off on your jeans and opened the warehouse door, basking in the autumn sun.  Dean shook the dust and dirt off of his jacket and wrapped his arm around you as you both walked to the Impala.
“I think this calls for a beer,” you noted and he nodded in agreement. The two of you just took out an entire nest of vamps, a little celebration was deserved. And after a few bottles of beer, Dean texted Sam and told him that you would be a while and the two of you had an entirely different kind of celebration back at the motel.
-
The two of you laid together in a comforting silence, your arms wrapped around Dean as he stared up at the ceiling. This was pretty routine for your relationship. You had each other’s backs during a hunt and you were there to help each other unwind afterwards. Poor Sam usually just went and got something to eat by himself. You wrapped your arms around Dean a little tighter, that part of you close to your heart wishing that this was more than it was. But you could never tell Dean that you loved him. That wasn’t part of the deal.
“What’s on your mind?” Dean asked, feeling your shoulders tense.
“Pie.” You lied, laughing as he leaned over you, chuckling deeply in your ear. His green eyes- god, those eyes- stared at you intensely.
“I’m serious. What’s up?”
“Nothing, Dean.” You were usually a great liar. It was a skill that was required in your particular profession. When it came to Dean, however, you were totally transparent. You decided to change the subject to hopefully get him off your case. “Do you want some coffee? I’m dying for some caffeine.” You slid into your jeans and stole his flannel before he could grab it.
“That’s my shirt.” He huffed, finding his pants.
“I like you better like this.” You grinned, tracing a hand over his bare chest. “Besides, I look better in it.” Dean pulled you in for a rough kiss, nearly falling back on to the bed. You laughed as you pushed away. “Easy, tiger. We should go meet up with Sam. He’s probably been sitting in a diner somewhere all alone.”
“Yeah, yeah, poor Sammy.” You ruffled Dean’s hair and grabbed his keys with a devilish grin.
“First one to the car gets to drive.”
“Oh hell no.” Dean practically lunged at you and you squealed as you jumped out of the way, sprinting out the door.
-
“I would ask what took you two so long, but I really don’t want to know.” Sam took note of your change in clothes and put the pieces together. He had been typing away on his laptop looking for a possible new case for the past couple of hours. Luckily, most of the patrons of the diner just thought he was writing a horror novel.
“Find anything good?” Dean asked, motioning to the waitress for two cups of coffee. You couldn’t help but notice the way she leaned over the counter just so, flipping her hair over her shoulder.
“Did you want any sugar, sugar?” You rolled your eyes, but Dean, being Dean, smiled at her.
“No thanks.” She winked and strut off, her hips swaying more than you thought was humanly possible. Your eyes fell to the counter. Sam, having noticed your reaction to the encounter, started to list possible cases to distract you. He knew that Dean wouldn’t do anything to hurt you. But he also knew that Dean didn’t always realize when his harmless flirting wasn’t harmless anymore.
“There’s a group of campers that disappeared in the Rockies, all that was left in their camp was a couple of demonic symbols carved into the trees.”
“Sounds a little more like a prank than our kind of thing.” You noted, looking at the screen over his shoulder. “What about this one?” You pointed to a possible poltergeist case in Tulsa. “Four women over the last ten years, each found in their locked apartments with the words “Not Enough” carved into their chests.” The three of you collectively grimaced.
“Hell hath no fury.” You muttered and the boys voiced their agreement.
Sam was driving, so you flipped a coin to figure out who got shot-gun. A string of curses came from Dean as he climbed into the back seat. You smirked with victory and blew him a sarcastic kiss.
“Real cute.” He barked and you and Sam shared a laugh. You started to scour records from the town to see if you could find any strange or violent deaths. One in particular fit the bill. You motioned for Dean to look and his fingers grazed your shoulder as he pulled himself forward.
“Look at this. Martha Greenburg; 25. Ten years ago, she threw herself off of a bridge and wrote in her suicide note that she wasn’t enough for him. The police concluded that she was talking about her fiance, Haris, who broke her heart the previous day.”
“Not enough.” Dean repeated, grabbing your phone to get a better look at the story. Your eyes lingered on him with a sad expression. Something about the words hit you harder than you would admit. You didn’t see Sam’s eyes dart over towards you, a deep frown appearing on his face. Dean returned your phone. “So, heart broken Martha kills herself and now she wants other women to feel the pain she felt?”
“That makes some kind of sick, sad sense.” You sighed, resigning to looking out your window for the rest of the trip.
When you got to another motel, Sam suggested that Dean go in and get a room while the two of you bounced some more theories back and forth. As soon as Dean was gone, Sam turned to you with a serious, empathetic expression.
“Is everything okay, Y/N?” His hand found yours in that classic Comfort Mode Sam way.
“Of course.” You faked a laugh, but it didn’t work. “Look, I’ve just had a few stupid ideas running through my head lately, but I’m sure they’ll pass.”
“What ideas?”
“Seriously Sam, it’s nothing.”
“Seriously Y/N, it clearly isn’t.” You accepted defeat and took a deep breath.
“I’ve just started to wish that it all meant more, you know? To him.”
“Did something happen between you and Dean?” Sam actually looked ready to smack his big brother upside the head.
“No, no, not exactly. I forgot what we were, that’s all.” You watched Dean come back out of the motel with a heavy heart and a sad smile. “But hey, I’m just happy I get to be along for the ride.”
Dean got back to the car before Sam could respond. He just looked at you with a sympathetic sadness that made you feel even worse. You should have just kept your mouth shut. You rolled down your window so Dean could talk.
“You two ready to change and head to the coroner’s office?” He noticed the change of tone in the car and scoffed. “Man, you two make ghouls look excited. Let’s go.” You gave Sam a pleading glance before grabbing your bag from the back and going in to change into your pantsuit. Sam and Dean found their bags and Sam punched Dean’s shoulder.
“What did you say to her?” He asked angrily.
“What are you talking about?” Dean snapped back, rubbing the now sore spot.
“To Y/N? What did you do?”
“Sammy,” Dean’s mouth formed a suggestive smirk. “I think we all know what Y/N and I did.”
“God, Dean that’s not what I meant.” Sam shook his head and slammed the trunk shut.
-
There was an odd tension between the three of you as you left the coroner’s office. Every bodies’ insides were basically mush, as if they’d hit a wall at 100 miles per hour. A strange burn marked their hands. Their lungs were also filled with water. Oh, and sure enough, every single one had the words ‘Not Enough’ deeply carved across their chest. Every woman was engaged, and from the reports, they were happy. Martha’s distorted jealousy took that from them. It made your skin crawl.
“Hey,” Dean said suddenly, pulling you to the side. “Are you okay?” You tried to hide all of the turning in your stomach.
“Are we really going to do this again?” You laughed, but this time, it wasn’t as convincing. “Dean, I’m fine.” His stupid green eyes were doing that thing they did when he was trying to get you to tell him something. So instead, you kissed him very, very convincingly. Sam cleared his throat and you pulled away.
“Martha was cremated. So salting and burning the bones is out.” He informed, giving you a strange look. Dean composed himself, still a little stunned. “We’re back to square one.”
You all wracked your brains to figure out what the spirit could be latching onto. You remembered something about the crime scene photos. Something about their hands.
“I know what it is.” You marched back into the morgue and pulled back the tarp covering the woman’s body. “Look at her left hand.” A band was burned around her finger- where her engagement ring would have been. “All of the women had this burn. What if they all had the same ring?”
“It could be worth looking into.” Sam noted, still giving you that annoyingly concerned stare. You tried to shrug it off.
“Then what are we waiting for?” You brushed past Dean and rushed out to the impala.
“This is what I was talking about.” Sam hissed at his brother. “Dean, you need to talk to her. She…” His voice trailed off. You would kill him if you found out that he told Dean what you said.
“She what?” Dean really sounded worried. If something was wrong, he wanted to know.
“She thinks she’s just a fling to you, Dean.” He blurted, checking to make sure you were gone. “She said she wished that what you two have meant more.”
“Why would she think that?” Now he sounded hurt. Couldn’t you tell how much you meant to him? Sure, he wasn’t super vocal about his affections, but he always figured you knew.
“I don’t know but she said she’s just happy to be ‘along for the ride’.” Sam sighed, leaving to join Y/N in the car, but Dean stayed back. Along for the ride? What did that even mean? He thought what the two of you had was real, which was not something he was used to, but did you think this was all some prolonged one night stand? With all of his questions, he did know one thing. He loved you- as sappy-romance-movie as that sounded- and he was going to make damn sure that you knew it this time.
-
Dean did not like this plan. Looking down at the small box in his hand, he shuttered. He really really did not like this plan. You and Sam were waiting in the car in an uncomfortable silence.
“Did you get it?” Sam asked as Dean climbed into the driver’s seat. He gave his brother a scowl.
“I don’t like this.”
“Dean, everything is going to be fine.” You assured him. “I’ll be the bait and once Martha pops in to carve me up, you guys will burn the ring.”
“Why can’t we just burn it now?”
“Because if we summon her, we can be sure that we killed her.” You knew that it was dangerous, but it could be your only shot. Sure, you were scared, but you’d never let the boys know that.
The three of you drove to the spot where this all started; the old bridge that Martha took the dive off of. The bridge had been closed for years, so traffic wasn’t a problem. You got out of the impala, listening to the river flow beneath your feet. You kept a brave face, but Dean could see your nerves.
“You don’t have to do this.” Dean protested, holding the box in his hand. “We could just torch this thing right now and be done with it.”
“She only shows up when the ring has a hand, Dean.” You held up your left hand and held out your right for him to give you the box. Instead, he took the ring out himself.
“You…” He paused, looking for the right words. “You know that I care about you, right?” You stepped back.
“Of course, Dean.” You looked over at Sam, but he was too busy loading the rock salt to notice your frustration. He must have said something. “Look, we don’t have time for this. Let’s just gank the ghost and get out of here.” Dean saw through your toughness, of course, but he didn’t argue. He did, however, lean in for a kiss. It was a different kind of kiss than you usually shared. It wasn’t lusting or rushed. It was slow and sweet and perfect. When he pulled back, he kept his forehead rested against yours.
“Be careful.” He whispered and slipped the ring onto your finger. Immediately, he was thrown backwards, having to catch himself on the railing to keep from falling over the edge.
“Dean!” You screamed. Martha’s apparition appeared in front of you, her hair wet and matted and her face stained with eternal tears.
“He’ll never love you.” She croaked, water pouring out of her mouth as she spoke. You braced yourself. There was nothing she could say that you hadn’t already thought of a million times.
“Let’s dance, bitch.”
The ring on your hand started to burn and you cried out, trying to take it off. Her hand latched around your throat and dragged you to the side of the bridge, hanging you over the railing.
“Y/N!” Sam shouted, aiming the salt loaded rifle at Martha. She flicked her wrist and sent the weapon flying into the water.
“It isn’t real.” She groaned, tightening her grip on your throat. “He doesn’t care. He’d rather roam around with waitresses and bartenders than be shackled down with you.” You tried to block her out, but her words sunk into you. “Because you’re not enough. You will never be enough.” Yout felt a sharp pain scrape across your chest as she started to carve her words into you. Through the pain and your screaming, you were able to tear the ring off of your finger.
“Dean.” You choked out, tossing the ring to him as Sam started the fire in a trash can that you’d stolen from the motel. Dean threw the ring into the flames before sprinting across the bridge towards you.
Martha let out a blood curdling scream as her image slowly burned away, her hold on you releasing, sending you tumbling over the edge. Hands latched around your ankle as you swayed over the rushing waters, blood seeping through your t-shirt.
“A little help, Sam!” Dean grunted, your foot slipping slightly in his hand. Sam grabbed your other ankle and the two of them were able to get you back on the bridge. Dean didn’t even let your feet touch the ground before he wrapped his arms around you, holding you as close to him as he could. You winced when his chest pressed against your new wounds. “Oh, crap, sorry.”
“It’s okay.” You pulled the collar of your shirt down enough to see that Martha had only gotten a few letters before she burned. “Great, now I’m just going to have ‘no’ scarred on my chest.” Dean let out an exasperated laugh, pulling you back to him.

You were packing up your things back at the motel when Dean asked Sam to give him a moment alone with you. You leaned against the hood of the impala, knowing exactly where this conversation was going to go.
“Do you believe what she said to you?” Okay, maybe you didn’t know where this conversation was going.
“What are you talking about?”
“Come on, Y/N, we all heard what she was saying.” Dean ran his hand down his face. “She said that I’d rather be off with some waitress than be with you. That you’re not enough for me.”
“Dean, I’m sure she says that to every-”
“Do you believe her?” He repeated, this time he sounded more upset. When you didn’t answer, his face changed with hurt. “Do you really think that little of me? Of us?”
“I’m in love with you, Dean.” You blurted. “That wasn’t part of the plan, but there it is.” Dean stepped closer to you, cupping your cheek.
“You aren’t just a fling, Y/N. I love you.” Dean cradled the back of your head in his hand as he pulled you in for a kiss. A slow and sweet and perfect kiss. But it wasn’t enough. Not for him. He had to show you that he meant it. He broke the kiss, those green eyes melting your heart completely. “Let’s get married.” You froze.
“What?”
“Let’s get married.” His face broke into a nervous grin. “Come on, Y/N, we already fight like a married couple. Sam treats you like a sister. I love you more than any girl I’ve ever known. Let’s do it.” The shock of his words faded just enough for you to respond.
“Okay.” You said breathlessly. Dean scooped you up in his arms and you laughed.
“I’m glad you two figured it out.” Sam smiled, throwing the last of the bags in the trunk. Dean gave his brother a beaming grin, setting you back on your feet.
“Come on, Sammy, we’ve got to get a non-haunted ring this time,” He exclaimed, giving you one more kiss. “We’re going to Vegas.”

3x06: Red Sky at Morning
Then:
Tumblr media
Sam wasted a bullet on brodepency
Now:
A woman jogs along a lonely marina at night. She stops for a drink of water and sees an old timey ship flicker into existence and then disappear. It’s a little weird so she runs home.
While taking a slightly male-gaze shower, a shadow lurks in the background. A hand then appears on the outside of the shower. She pops her head out to look around her HUGE bathroom only to find nothing. Too late! The noise was coming from inside the shower stall. She’s attacked and strangled.
Sam and Dean are on the road. Sam’s getting a lecture from his big bro about using the Colt on the crossroads demon. It didn’t get Dean out of the deal, but Sam had to try.
Tumblr media
And jumping right into the case without exposition or anything, we find the brothers interviewing the aunt of the victim, Sheila. She’s 100% pervy towards Sam, but HAHAHA, amirite? She found her drowned in her own shower. She asks if they’re “working with Alex?” And Dean agrees right away. The aunt also mentions the mysterious boat (did Sheila call her aunt on her run home? When did she have time to do this?) “Do you think it could be a… ghost ship?”
Yes. Yes, it is.
Tumblr media
She then touches Sam unnecessarily and GURR.
Later, Sam and Dean discuss the case and the fact that ghost ships have been seen in this town every 37 years --and with it dryland drownings.
So they’ve got to find what boat appears to people before they die.
They head back to where the Impala was parked, to not find it where they left it. Dean freaks out and has a panic attack. UGH. I have that feeling when I forget what lane I parked in at Target so BBY DEAN I HEAR YOU AND SEE YOU.
Tumblr media
Bella appears and tells them she had it towed. So kind. Sam guesses right away that she’s the “Alex” that the aunt mentioned. She tells them to back off, and wanders away.
A dude, getting ready for bed, finds his tub filling with gross, green water. He turns off the faucet and stares into the black water for a second before a hand reaches out of the depths and strangles him.
Later, we find Bella interviewing the brother of the deceased. Sam and Dean interrupt and tell her to stop bothering the grieving man. They ask about the ship his brother saw, and the man describes it and admits that he saw it too.
Tumblr media
Bella shows up again to further antagonize the brothers.
Later that night, the brothers watch the grieving brother box up his brother’s stuff. And I haven’t watched this episode enough to see the parallels before, but there they are! The guy sees them watching him and gets upset, realizing they’re not cops. He insults Dean’s car and tells them to stay away from him. He tries driving away but then his car dies. A drowned rat of a ghost shows up in his car. Before Sam and Dean (and their shotguns) can get there, the guy drowns.
Tumblr media
Later, while driving, Dean tells Sam, “You can’t save everybody, Sam.” (And, HAHA, certainly not his brother is who destined to die because what’s the fucking point of rebar anyway?)
Bella, once again, finds the brothers. They’re laying low in an abandoned house researching shipwrecks. She knows what ship they’re seeing before they die. It turns out the ghost was a traitorous sailor that was hanged on this ship, but not before his hand was cut off and made into a hand of glory. They need to find that hand, and Bella knows where it is.
We’re next treated to a little Dean objectification when he walks down the stairs in a tux. He hates it, but Bella is impressed. I can’t help it. Dean’s a cutie here.
For We’re Going to Objectify Him Anyway Science:
Tumblr media
They arrive at the soiree accompanied by a swanning musical score. Sam wriggles away from his handsy Gross Old Lady ™ companion to complain about his decoy duties. Dean and Bela show no inclination to give him any reprieve and slink off to pull their heist. Every door is guarded by an off duty cop, so Bela swoons in Dean’s arms.
Tumblr media
He explains that she’s imbibed a little too much. A guard escorts them upstairs to a secluded den and leaves them to “recover.” Bela casually insults Dean’s intelligence yet again and then sends him off to complete the heist.
Tumblr media
Sam continues to experience non-consensual touching by Grabby Gertie. UGH SAM we’re so sorry.
Dean, meanwhile, cracks a safe - a scene which I find HIGHLY APPEALING. While he’s hard at work, Bela deflects the guard from discovering that Dean’s missing from the room by pretending to have a romantic interlude. Dean’s return is comically timed, and the guard leaves happy thinking he’s just witnessed a cuckolded husband and clandestine affair. I guess whatever floats your boat?
Dean brandishes the hand of glory at Bela and they prepare to leave the party. Downstairs, Sam is DRENCHED in discomfort, but Grabby Gertie contributes something at last to the case. She reveals that the two dead brothers were rumored to have killed their ultra-rich father. And her niece had been involved in a fatal car accident as a teen where her cousin died.
Tumblr media
Dean and Sam head off in the Impala, only to discover that Bela once again pulled a fast one on them. She replaced the hand with a model ship in a bottle, which she stole while she was waiting for Dean in the den.
Elsewhere, Bela fondles her money in a convertible until she sees DUN DUN DUN a ghost ship in the distance.
Tumblr media
In their room, Dean rants about Bela’s theft to an unsympathetic Sam, only to have Bela pound on their door. The ship’s after her now and she already sold the hand to someone across the ocean. As one does.
Sam drops more case details: the captain of the ghost ship was the brother of the hanged sailor. “Very Cain and Abel,” Sam notes while I grind my teeth. The targets of the hauntings: people who have spilled their family’s blood. Dean taunts Bela while she sits in haunted turmoil. Dean, babe.
Sam and Dean insist that Bela reveal her dark emotional secrets to them before they’ll help her which is some real trash behavior. Sam finally relents, and tells them there may be one thing they can do to save her.
In a darkened cemetery, Sam lights candles around a pentagram.
Tumblr media
It starts to pour. Sam starts an incantation which reads “Azael, Castiel…” and I’m about to lose my goddamned mind. Sam continues to invoke the arrival of his brother’s husband in the following season like he doesn’t have any clue about Dean’s epic love arc with the angel Castiel.
The ghost appears, flings Dean across the cemetery, and starts to drown Bela. Sam frantically reads and as he finishes the incantation, the ghost’s brother appears. The captain apologizes for killing his “own brother” and I chew my own arm off.
Tumblr media
The two ghosts...cancel each other out, or something? Thanks for the symbolism, Chuck.
The next day, Bela tosses some cash at the Winchesters as a thank you. “Ponying up ten grand is easier for you than a simple thank you? You’re so damaged,” Dean says. Bela calls Dean on his bullshit projection.
Tumblr media
Dean decides to take the money Bela gave them to go on a holiday to Atlantic City. (Amara, is that you?) Dean assures Sam that he’ll be fine once he’s dead. “You’re stronger than me,” Dean tells him. I shriek at levels so high it’s practically undetectable.
“I’m a big boy now. I can take care of myself,” Sam retorts (not helping his case, let’s be honest). He tells Dean that the important thing is to SAVE DEAN. He wants Dean to care that he’s dying!
Tumblr media
Dean stares at the road with the eyes of a drowning man, slipping helplessly under the water. “I think I’ll play craps,” he decides while Sam gives his best grouchface to the passing streetlights.

Misha Panel
I’ve done this summary as it helps to have what Misha actually says to hand as more often than not, his stans misquote him. It’s also useful as Misha often changes things - as he appears to have done between his last virtual panel and this one. Note, I’m only focusing on the key parts where he talks about the show/Jared/Jensen.  It is not free of anti castiel/misha comments where I disagree, though those are few and far between for a change. It’s long so putting under a cut...
- Misha confirms his filming finished in March prior to Covid [this comes up later in more detail].  Watching the last epiosode was an emotional experience for him.  For him, it represents the end of a chapter of his life.
- Misha says fandoms not going anywhere [*hisses]
- Misha’s future work/projects?: working on senate race in georgia, publishing a book of poetry, couple of film projects he’s trying to get off the ground, one he’s not acting/directing in, the other he may act and/or direct
- Jack brought Cass back but we didn’t get to see it, what happened?: different ending originally that Covid restrictions made impossible to produce. Cool ending involved bringing back lots of cast members over the years.  In the original ending, Castiel hadn’t gone to rebuild heaven, there was a different conclusion for him.  Misha purposely did not read the last two episodes before they aired as he wanted to be an audience member. He knew a little about Castiel/Jack’s fate in the abstract, but because he wasn’t in it, he doesn’t know what the answer was. He thinks them rebuilding heaven was less boots on the ground and more at a spiritual level [so he’s talking at the metaphysical/spiritual plane level and not corporeal) so they are everywhere (e.g. in drops of rain as per Jack’s speech to Sam in 19). That’s what I’m understanding at least.  He says that’s pure speculation though.]
- what qualities does castiel have similar to Misha?: there are a lot of similar qualities [backstabber comes immediately to my mind tbh]. Over time he and the character melded. Over time he evolved into something that didn’t quite fit in with either angels or humanity, he felt like an outsider which Misha has felt for much of his life. He became softer, more sensitive, he tried to do the right thing and be a good person. Oh wow, he says that in order to write to play to Misha’s strengths, the character had to “morph a bit”.  I loved bad!ass Castiel, he’s my favourite Castiel!
- What one thing will he take with him from playing Castiel?: on a professional level, it was fascinating to play a character for so many years. He discussed with J2 recently that the characters really became part of them. He doesn’t think that will happen again, just due to length of time the played them. On watching Jensen’s death scene, he cried but it was more “That’s Cass’ friend Dean dying”  It was weird to have a blurring of lines between yourself and your character but he thinks that’s what happened with all of them. He’ll take the character away, which will be a part of him forever.
- Misha made fortune cookes and put inside lewd and inappropriate fortunes
[I don’t get this next bit as earlier in the panel he says he didn’t read the last two episodes so didn’t know what was going to happen and gave the answer I documented above and now we have this next question where his answer seems to contradict that]:
- Is there anything more he can say about the originally planned finale?:  He doesn’t want to be the one to reveal these state secrets, but what are they going to do, fire him?  He feels someone might have said to him, please don’t reveal what was going to happen, but can’t remember for sure if it’s true. He says there was a version of Sam and Dean’s heaven that was populated with all of the people that were from their past that they have come to love.  They could not do that because of Covid restrictions.
- Favourite behind the scenes memory of “The boys”: He doesn’t have a favourite memory, they were close friends for 12 years. They had laughing fits and fights and got pissed off at each other. Some of his fondest memories of being at work anywhere were working on Supernatural.  He’s never going to be on a set again where there is so much mirth so he’s going to miss that for sure.
- he’s talking about Castiel’s wardrobe which is actually funny - e.g. original suit 3 sizes to big, sometimes showing blood and holes, sometimes being magically fixed, not wearing a tie, going back to wearing a tie... “Nobody complained about that too much...” [uh because some of us were watching other things and your own stans were looking at the background.]  He stole some trenchcoats and has them in his closet.
- How do you prepare for emotional scenes?: it’s hard for him to get into that emotional state. To prepare for the Castiel’s declaration of love scene and taken by the empty, Misha needs to be off by himself and not chatting with people, so for that scene he sat on his own in a dark corner of the stage and ruminated on his own.  Rob Hayter, stunt coordinator, noticed and stood sentinel and made sure no one disturbed him which Misha said was really sweet.  Everyone stopped fucking around for that scene to allow them to do what they needed to do.
-  How did you feel when you read the script when Castiel dies?: Misha knew for a long time that ending was coming, he’d been speaking to Rob Berens about it, he was really happy with it.  It was the ending he’d wanted for Cass so when he read the script, he was really happy it had made it to the page [i bet it was Misha, how are those destiel sales going through your Stands company?]. It felt it was a little “risky and a little brave” for the show to do [on a fucking network that is number one in Glaad reviews?  Are you being fucking serious right now?] He was happy to be a part of that [again sales] and have that character express love like that so he was happy with it.
[Okay, so notice in his last virtual panel 2 weeks ago, he was very happy, he’s now starting to do exactly what he did with Karla movie as he goes on to say...]
He’s seen “some people” [you mean lgbtq+ people?!]  “complaining” about this is playing into the “bury the gays” trope which is an insidious and real trope in film and television storytelling in h/w over the years. Misha doesn’t think that’s what was happening with Castiel’s [he died second after the confession MIsha!] First of all Castiel isn’t dead, he’s in heaven working to rebuild it... [you didn’t know this 2 weeks ago, as far as you knew Castiel died and went to the empty].  So much good came from that declaration, because Cass was able to save Dean, which was essential to saving the world, so this declaration wasn’t so then fate strikes you down and you’re done forever. The declaration literally ended up saving the world. It was of Cass’ own volition, he wasn’t forced to do it, it was his choice, and he thinks that’s important, so maybe he’s naieve and doesn’t feel they are playing into that trope.
[You were absolutely playing into that trope Misha and you didn’t give a shit as you did no research on playing an lgbtq+ character so sincerely fuck off]
He’s glad that Castiel got to express that and have that ending. He thinks thats kind of important and he’s proud the show did that. [again fuck off, this was done for you and it showed]  He thinks its a conversation they will continue to have as they continue to dissect it going forward [nope, consigned to the dumpster fire I’ve put the majority of the rest of Drabbernatural in]
- Do you think you will ever get an SPN tattoo?:  He doesn’t have any but he’s thinking about getting tattoos relating to his children.  Is that a sign of desperation that a true hasbeen will do? Should he get a tattoo of Jared and Jensen’s face.  He could get a tattoo of Castiel’s face on his abdomen.  He’s saying probably not. If they want to get one, totally supportive of that
-  what is his favourite moment of the finale?: Dean’s death scene, masterfully executed, excellent performances from both Jared and Jensen in that scene and made him cry
- best memory of your last day on the supernatural set?: everyone being really sweet, lot of tears from cast and crew. The last scene he shot as Castiel was the last scene of the day on a Friday. Him, Alex, Richard S and Jensen all had to get to Las Vegas for a fan convention the next morning. They shot late and finished at 1.30, it was Cass goodbye and Misha’s goodbye to the show.  He said they had to get a chartered flight because of the early flight [not sure why he’s saying this as I thought it was Jared’s plane they all travelled in?] He’s talking about going back - because of the issue with the plane - and they are all texting family, saying they love them, so it was such a strange night, he’d said goodbye to Supernatural, he said goodbye to Castiel and later on said goodbye to his kids because they thought they were going to die that night. :(
[Going to add that this puts to rest that Misha was due back for 19 and 20 even before covid, it confirms he was not going to be in either episode, though I maintain, they may have shot an extra scene while they had him to slot into 19 or 20]
- do you think Cass and the other angels got their wings back?: Yes, probably, they have Jack who is the new god. What a long and miserable experience that was of not having wings. Cass was so powerful when he started, he could snap his fingers and teleport and time travel and lost that with his broken wings and they didn’t come back. He doesn’t know why they didn’t fix him as Castiel would have been a much more powerful ally if he didn’t have to drive around in the pimp mobile [uh, for the same reason Sam lost his powers, deus ex machina]. He tells the story of Jared pressing buttons in the car causing the hydraulics to fail costing $10000 of repair.
- in your opinion, what colour are Castiels wings?: shit, I don’t know, I always thought they were black, but now that you’ve said that, they are rainbow coloured, how about that?
- What is the worst joke Jared and Jensen did to you?: [*cough fans looking for things to complain about or hate Jared on]: Jared and Jensen, as you know, they are not good people.  He talks about directing an episode and they got excited in the week before, they were going to break into his apartment and steal his furniture, they had all kinds of nefarious plans, the crew tipped him off and told him to watch his home and car keys. They put a fish under the seat in his car and one of the crew told him.  Jared removed the canvas on the director’s chair and laid it across so it looked like it was still the chair. Misha fell for that at least 5 times. That was pretty frustrating. Jared kept messing up his lines (which Misha said Jared never does) and Misha was directing in another room, Misha eventually went to see what the problem was and that’s when Jared pied him in the face. Everyone in the crew was complicit in the “assault”. Jensen brought him another shirt, said, “I’m sorry man, that’s sucks, that was too much.”  Jensen then pied him in the face.
- What is the real story behind the handprint in the finale?: Um I don't know, but I think it was a nice touch, that was a really lovely callback that worked well. I can’t remember how we came up with that, or was it in the script, I can’t remember. Wasn’t it a good callback to the very beginning. [Again, this appears to differ from what was being reported two weeks ago so might need to go back to that panel if I can get access to it]
-What’s your favourite memory from offline/online panels?: It’s much more fun to be live and in person. I don’t know, I have had some really fun... [PANDERING ALERT COMING UP] Jensen and I have some really fun panels together in Rome.  I don’t know why but we always just seem to have a real hoot there, talks about the resume off, they really enjoyed that. He had pizza delivered to a creation panel once.  He talks about the Saturday night special and he can’t wait till they can get back to that.
[NOTE CYNICAL PART OF THIS IS FOR HIS FANBASE TO ONCE AGAIN CLAMOUR FOR MORE JENMISH PANELS. I DO NOT TRUST THIS MAN AT ALL]
- What was your favourite version of Castiel to play?: he had the most fun playing Lucifer because Mark P had left a great template to play Lucifer [you took the worst parts imo but Mark fucked his character up too]. He enjoyed playing the human parts of Castiel because it was fun to explore how to be human for the first time. Overall, just regular Cass. He wouldn’t have wanted to trade regular Castiel for other iterations. [A great question would be badass Castiel v late season wooby castiel preference]

Dreaming
Dean Winchester has always been a bit of a thorn in Kelsey’s side - a very attractive thorn, but still… A visit at her uncle Bobby’s reunites her with the boys, and she begins having vivid dreams - about Dean. Is it just her subconscious trying to tell her something? Or is there more to it than that?
So sleepy.
The sun is so warm on her skin, the breeze gently wafting around her.
His arms surrounding her, a safe haven.
She turns her head, her eyes opening slowly, almost fighting to remain closed. His face is a blur at first, coming into focus as her eyes finally obey her thoughts and open.  His eyes are still closed, his long lashes against his skin, his lips slightly parted as he breathes softly.
She feels a surge in her pulse as she looks at him, so beautiful, so perfect, so peaceful.  She is almost breathless as her eyes scan over the planes of his face, freckles still visible beneath the golden tan; the jaw line, unshaven, the cleft in his chin almost hidden by the soft growth.  The small bump in his nose, almost unnoticeable, a flaw making the perfection seem even more unreal.
He begins to move, his eyebrows draw together in a small frown as he struggles, like her, to wake.  The moss green eyes open, the full lips curve slightly as he sees her, and she feels everything inside her go molten and electric as he reaches a hand to her face and moves in closer to touch his lips to hers.
The kiss is soft, sensuous, the whole world is in it.  There is nothing else in the here and now but that.  His mouth slants across hers, their lips parting and their tongues gliding against each other, tangling sweetly, and her whole being is centered in this moment, in the feel of his lips and the taste of him, the soft sound of the whispered moan that escapes as he kisses her.
His hand moves, down her back, across her hip, fingers slipping beneath the soft fabric of her shirt, and there is warmth against her skin as his touch brushes over her ribs and he cups her breast.  This time the moan is from her, deep in her throat, as he gently kneads the firm flesh, and she presses closer to him as their kiss becomes more frantic, and her arms tighten around his neck…
“Kel!  You comin’, or what?”  Kelsey shot upright in her bed, her eyes wide, her mouth open as she stared at Dean, who stood leaning nonchalantly in her doorway.  "I tried to wake you up, but I practically had to come in and throw cold water on you.“  His brows drew together in a frown, his green eyes actually a little concerned as she stared blankly back at him.  "Are you okay? You aren’t getting sick, are you?”
Kelsey blinked hard a couple of times, shaking her head a little, trying to clear her mind of the incredibly vivid dream she had been rudely awakened from. "No,” she said softly, raising a hand to run through her shoulder length golden brown locks.  When she looked back up, Dean’s eyes were roaming appreciatively over her breasts, which were making themselves evident under the thin silk camisole she had worn to bed.  She jerked the blanket up, holding it in place and glaring at him.
“Do you, uh, wear that to bed every night, Kel? ‘Cuz I gotta tell you, it’s hot.” His eyebrows raised and lowered a couple of times as a one-sided smirk curved his lips.
“Get. Out.” Kelsey pointed towards the door, and he had the audacity to look surprised.
“Sure you don’t need any help with…anything?”
“OUT!”  A low chuckle trailed behind him as he left the room, and she sailed a pillow towards his back.
“Missed!” he called back over his shoulder, and Kelsey huffed out a frustrated breath.  How could she be dreaming of that…that…that immature, juvenile, dirty-minded jerk?
She threw back the covers and swung her long, tanned legs over the side of the bed, stretching as she stood and headed to the bathroom.  She looked in the mirror, and a pair of dark lashed hazel eyes stared back.  A faint spattering of freckles across her nose annoyed her to no end, as always, and her lips pressed together in disapproval.  She sighed and opened a small drawer, pulling out a washcloth for her face as she let the water run to get warm.
She was almost dressed, in her faded jeans, well-worn Lynyrd Skynyrd t-shirt and grey Pumas, when Bobby called up the stairs.  "Kelsey Grace, are you comin’ or not?“
"I’m on my way down, you old grouch,” she countered, then smiled to herself as she finished tying her shoe and grabbed her denim jacket from the chair on her way out the door.
Dean glanced up as Kelsey’s footsteps echoed down the old staircase.  She was slipping her arms into her jacket as she walked, leaning in to kiss Bobby’s cheek, an amused smile on her face, as she walked by him.  Bobby couldn’t quite stifle the wry grin on his face as he shook his head.  Kelsey was twisting her hair into a knot, sticking a clip into it to hold it in place.  Dean itched to pull it out, watch that tawny-colored, on-the-edge-of-auburn mass tumble down around her shoulders again.  He felt Bobby’s disapproving glare and reluctantly pulled his eyes from the sight of her bending to look for a bottle of water in the fridge.
He remembered the first time he’d seen her.  All arms and legs, and those big amber eyes that, at the time, looked so large in her face.  She was about ten, same age as Sammy, and he was fourteen.  She was Bobby’s niece, his sister’s daughter, and she had come to visit.  Or, more likely, she was farmed out to him for some other reason, which Dean never knew.  Bobby’s place wasn’t really the type of place people dropped off little girls just to visit.  Now, he and Sam were different.  Boys, for one thing.  And they were used to being left here and there.  Bobby’s, for them, was almost like home.  Only thing was, the stay just never lasted long enough.
Kelsey and Sam had become friends right off the bat, she called him Shaggy and he called her Freckles, which she hated, but she didn’t seem to mind too much from him.  Dean only tried it once, and was informed that, since he had more of them than she did, he wasn’t allowed.  She and Sam had the run of the place, climbing around piles of junk that they should have stayed away from, building forts out of car parts, having a ball together, while Dean, already made to act like an adult by then, helped Bobby work on cars or guns, or do research.  God, he had hated research.  He still hated research.
They had met up with each other several more times over the years, always at Bobby’s, and she and Sam had remained close friends.  She and Dean, however, had a kind of rocky relationship, sniping at or outright fighting with each other most of the time, but still settling into a teasing, sarcastic friendship. Dean smiled a little as he remembered them actually making out once, in Bobby’s shop.  John had almost caught them, and he would have…  His smile faded slowly, the loss of his father too new to be able to remember without a rush of pain so intense it almost stole his breath.
At least Sammy was okay.  That’s all that mattered now.  After they got into that huge fight, his little brother had taken off on his own, and a hunt gone wrong had landed him in the hospital for a few days, a two-day drive away near Baltimore.  But Sam had refused to let him drive out to pick him up when he was released, so now they were driving in to pick him up at the airport.  And he wouldn’t feel better until he laid eyes on him in person, made sure he was really okay.
He grabbed his jacket, putting it on as he headed for the door, his hand shoved into his pocket to retrieve the keys to the Impala.  Bobby was right behind him, turning to Kelsey as they stepped outside.  "Kelse, you want shotgun?“
"No, back seat’s fine, Bobby,” she answered, glancing at Dean as she felt his eyes on her.  She pushed past him, opening the back door and slipping inside, pulling her phone from her pocket and staring intently at the screen.  Dean and Bobby crawled in the front, and Baby rumbled to life as Dean backed her up and aimed her towards Sioux Falls Regional Airport.
They waited, mostly silent, for almost half an hour before Dean spotted Sam’s head above most of the others coming towards them down the crowded hallway.  "Sammy!“ he called out, and Sam’s eyes searched him out before he raised a hand to answer his big brother’s wave.  As he drew closer, the crowd thinned out, and Kelsey heard Dean’s quiet curse.  "Son of a bitch,” he muttered, walking towards Sam, his face tight with concern.  "Dammit, Sammy! Why didn’t you tell me you had a broken leg?  What else is going on that you didn’t tell me?“
"I’m fine, Dean.  It’s not a big deal.”
“It’s a big deal to me.  You should have told me.”
Sam rolled his eyes, and then his gaze came to rest on Kelsey, who stood a few feet behind Dean.  "Kelsey?“
A wide smile brightened her face and put a sparkle in her eyes.  "Hey, Shaggy.”
Sam dropped his duffle at Dean’s feet, using his crutches to move to where Kelsey stood.  He propped one crutch under his arm and grabbed her into a hug.  "I didn’t know you were back.“
"Proverbial bad penny, what can I say?”  She backed away a step and looked up into Sam’s hazel eyes.  "So - got a little banged up, huh?  Girl scout?“
Sam grinned, flashing those dimples that Kelsey also loved to tease him about. "Still a smartass, too.”
It was Dean’s turn to roll his eyes as they headed for the Impala, the two old friends chattering nonstop.  He threw Sam’s duffle into the trunk and climbed behind the wheel, while Sam maneuvered his plaster cast into the passenger side, and Bobby got into the back seat with Kelsey.
After lunch, Sam and Kelsey continued their 'gabfest,’ as Dean thought to himself, and he took himself out to the shop, finding whatever he could to keep himself busy.  Later in the day, he came in to grab a beer, and heard them laughing in the next room.  He walked closer, leaning in the doorway for a bit, listening to their easy give-and-take mixed with frequent laughter.  He absently chewed on his lip as he stood there, finally turning to leave, tipping his beer as he went.  Kelsey glanced up as he left, then looked up at Sam from her seat on the floor, where she was sitting to sign Sam’s cast.  Sam shrugged, and she smiled, putting the cap on the marker she’d been using and standing.  "I’ll be right back,“ she said, and followed Dean’s path out to the shop.
She could hear Metallica playing in the background as she walked in.  Dean was at the workbench, shop rag in hand, cleaning tools.  She stood quietly for a moment, then walked closer, and he turned his head to glance at her before returning to his task.
"Why don’t you come in and have a beer with us, Dean?  We’ve just been catching up with each other, I didn’t mean to take over, but we haven’t seen each other for a couple of years.”
“Didn’t want to butt in,” he said, working on removing grease from a wrench.
Kelsey stood there for a moment, then walked up beside him and turned her back to the workbench, leaning back against it and looking up at Dean.  "I’m sorry.  He’s your brother, and I know you guys have some things to talk about. I didn’t mean to…“
"No problem,” he cut her off, his voice curt.
“Dean.”  Kelsey spoke his name softly and looked up at him until he finally met her eyes and responded.
“Look, Sam would rather talk to you any day.  Why do you think he ended up all busted up in the first place?  He doesn’t want to be around me.  He doesn’t want to be here, Kel.  He’s never wanted to be here.”  He turned and walked away, but Kelsey hurried behind him, grabbing his arm to stop him.
“That’s just crazy, Dean.  Sam loves you and Bobby.  I don’t know what happened between you two, but you need to talk to him about it.  He’s the only family you’ve got.”
“You think I don’t know that?”  Dean’s voice was raised a little as the words came out, but he lowered his head immediately, running his fingers roughly through his hair.  "Sorry.“
"Dean…it’s okay.  Just please, go talk to Sam.”  He looked up, and the expression on his face made her want to comfort him somehow.  And, for a split second, she held her breath, thinking he was going to kiss her.  But the moment passed, and he stepped away from her, grabbing his beer and heading for the house.
“Okay.  I’ll go talk to him.  But don’t be surprised if we end up in another fight.”
Kelsey followed him into the house, helping herself to a beer, but staying in the kitchen as Dean walked into the next room.  "So, Sammy, what got you?“ Dean asked as he dropped to the other side of the couch and propped his feet up on the beat-up old coffee table.  "You never did say.”
She heard the sound of Sam opening the beer Dean had taken to him, a moment for a swallow, and, “Vamp.  Stupid vamp.  I got him, though.”
“So, just your leg?”
“Some banged-up ribs, and had a concussion.  I’m doing okay, though.”
She shook her head as they talked around everything but what they should have been talking about, and she began preparing some pasta and garlic bread for supper.  By the time the food was ready, the tension had eased between the brothers to the point where they could all eat and talk together.
By ten that night, Kelsey could hardly keep her eyes open, and headed up to bed.  She sank into her pillows with a sigh, and was just starting to doze off when she heard Dean’s footsteps pass by on the way to his room.
Dean stirred restlessly in his bed, then his eyes opened and he was on full alert as he sat up, reaching to the bedside table for his Colt.  He had heard something, and he sat there, completely still and silent, listening.  He heard another sound, and this time he was sure.  It was coming from Kelsey’s room.
He pulled on a pair of sweats over his boxers and headed barefoot down the hall.  He heard it again, this time a little louder, a low moan.  He opened her door, stepping into the room and looking around with eyes accustomed to seeing in the dark.  Nothing there that he could see, but she moved under her covers, her head rolling to the side as her breathing became more harsh, and another soft sigh escaped her lips.
He laid his gun on the table, sitting at the edge of the mattress.  He reached to touch her shoulder carefully, not wanting to startle her, and whispered her name.  "Kelsey.“  His only answer was another moan, and it didn’t sound like she was in pain.  He shook her gently, saying her name a little louder this time.  "Kel.  Wake up, you’re dreaming.”
He drew his hand back as if he’d been burned when she reacted just as she had that morning, sitting up quickly, her eyes wide, her mouth open, completely disoriented.  Then her eyes fell on him, and before he could react, her hands were in his hair and her lips on his, frantic and heated.  He found himself unable to resist at first, the intensity of it sweeping him along, and he kissed her back, almost losing himself in the moment.  Then he put his hands on her shoulders, pushing himself away and holding her in place, as he fought to slow his breathing and stop the almost overwhelming desire to give in and just go with it.
“Kelsey.  You’re dreaming.”  She looked up at him, her eyes unfocused for a moment, then clearing a little as she took a deep breath.  "Are you okay?“  He could feel her begin to tremble beneath his hands, and real concern pushed all other thoughts from his mind.
"Dean?  What’s going on?”
“You were dreaming.  I came in because I thought I heard something, but it was you.  You were really out of it.”  His brows drew together in a troubled frown as he looked at her.  "Just like this morning.  Are you taking sleeping pills?“
Kelsey dropped back to her pillow, her eyes closed for a moment before she looked up at him, shaking her head.  "No.  I’ve never taken anything like that. Just a couple of beers tonight before I went to bed, just like you.”  She seemed to be all right, had calmed down, and Dean relaxed a little.  A crooked little smile curved his lips, and Kelsey frowned.  "What?“
"You kissed me.”
“I did not!”
“The hell you didn’t!  I came in to wake you up, and you kissed me.  And you were into it, too.”
She opened her mouth to argue, then closed it and looked away, feeling herself blush.  "I - I didn’t mean to.  I was delirious or something.“  She couldn’t look at him, at the smirk on his face and the warmth in his eyes, she just couldn’t.
"You were dreaming about me.”
“Was not.”
“Yes, you were.  Admit it.”  He ran a finger along her arm, and she jerked it back, hiding it under the covers.
“I’m fine now.  You can leave.”  She turned to her side, her back to him.
He sat there, silent for a moment, and when he spoke, the teasing note was gone from his voice.  "Sure you’re okay?“
"I’m fine.”
He stood, looking down at her for a moment, then turned to leave the room. He looked back at her form, nearly hidden in the blankets, and smiled.  "Sweet dreams,“ he said as he pulled the door closed, and she pulled the covers over her head.

You groan as you wake up on the floor of the nursery.  You sit up and immediately try to find your brothers.  Sam and Dean were a couple of feet away from you, also starting to gain consciousness.
“What the hell happened?”  Sam asked as he started to stand on his freakishly sized legs.
“The kid.  That’s what.”  Dean said as he followed suit of his younger brother.
“Are you guys okay?”  You asked as you started to look over yourself for any injuries.
“Other than the skull splitting headache, I’m freaking fantastic.”  Dean replied in a sarcastic tone as he made is way over to you and extended his hand.  You put your small hand into his large one and he hoisted you up onto your feet.  “We need to find that kid.”  Dean stated as he found his gun on the floor and holstered it into the back of his jeans.
“Yeah, but how?”  Sam asked.
“He couldn’t have gone far.”  You stated.
“Unless he can teleport.”  Dean replied back while running his hand down his face in a frustrated matter.
“Well let’s think of the smaller picture right now.  Okay?”
“Fine.”  Dean grumbled.
“Let’s say that Jack can’t teleport, the next best thing for him is to walk.  So we can look around town and ask of they have seen him.”
“Yeah, lets just go around town asking if anyone has seen a naked newborn nephilim.  Good plan.”  Dean said as he started to make his way out of the house.
You and Sam shared a look.  You just lost Mary and Cas all in the same hour and now Jack, who possibly has the power to end all of humanity with the snap of his fingers, is roaming Chuck’s green earth.  You understand why Dean is pissed, hell you were just as pissed as him, if not more.  Every time you seem to catch a break, something happens, proving to you that you can’t be happy.  As you and Sam made your way out of the house, Dean has already started the car and was waiting on you.
After 20 minutes of driving towards town, you spot a burger place on the side of the road.  As Dean pulls in, you and Sam both volunteer to ask the people inside if they have in fact, seen a naked newborn nephilim.
When you walk in, Sam immediately goes to the counter, which is occupied by a clearly drunk woman who was moaning for fries.  You start to look around the small burger place with way too much pirate themed decor.  You look at the menu screen to see that all of the menu items were changed to where their names had butt in them.
Immature
“I want fries.”  The woman demanded yet again while setting her high heels on the counter.
“Lady, I’ve already told you, I can’t give you any fries before lunch.  Rules are rules.”  The kid said in a annoyed tone.  He couldn’t have been older than you, 16.
“Screw the rules.  I’m outta here.”  The woman moaned as she stumbled out of the burger joint.
You and Sam approached the counter.
“Welcome to Pirate Pete’s Jolly Treats!  What would you like today?”  The kid asked, his mood already improving since the drunk woman left.
“Umm we won’t be ordering anything.  We’re actually looking for someone.  A kid, around 17, not exactly clothed.”  You said.
The boys eyes widened.  “Yeah I know who you’re talking about.  He stopped here asking about his father or something and Clark called his mom, who is the sheriff and she came and picked him up.”  He explained.
“Oh okay.  Could you point us in the direction of the police station please?”  You asked kindly.
“Uh yeah, sure.  If you take the main road through town and turn on Greenly Avenue, its just on your right.”  The boy explained.
“Thank you.”  Sam said as you two made your way out the door.
Once you got on the car with Dean, Sam repeated the directions to the police station and you made your way there.  It took about 10 minutes before you pulled into the parking lot of the small station.  As everyone made their way out of the car, you all started to walk towards the front door with caution.  When Dean opened the door for you and Sam you could immediately tell that something was wrong.  The lights were flickering like crazy and the floor was vibrating.  You pulled out your gun along with your brothers and you started to make your way towards the voices in the office portion of the station.
When you entered the room you could see three people, a woman who was obviously the sheriff, a teen boy with a red jacket and Jack whose eyes were glowing a vibrant gold, clearly angry.  You needed to take Jack down before he hurts anyone, so you made a quick decision.  You ran to the sheriff and stole her taser out of her belt, which got you a confused look, and you shot it at Jack.
Jack hit the floor with a thud, clearly unconscious.  You handed the sheriff the taser back and holstered your gun in the waistband of your jeans.  The teen boy gave you an impressed and shocked look.
“Dude!”  He exclaimed while raising his eyebrows.
“Who the hell are you?”  The woman asked, confusion written on her face.
“We’re the ones who just saved your ass.”  Dean replied.
The sheriff looked between you, your brothers and Jack on the floor.  “Umm, what just happened?”  She asked.
“Look, we can explain everything but right now we need to get him to a jail cell for your safety and ours.”  Sam explained.
“Fine, but after we are going to have ourselves a nice, long chat about what the hell is going on.”  The sheriff said.
After Sam and Dean both carried Jack into a cell, they were lead into a large office.  “Don’t go anywhere.”  Dean said to you before walking in.
“Yeah, yeah I get it.”  You said as you leaned against a desk.
Once the door to the office was closed, the teen boy looked at you again, awe still in his eyes.  He was attractive.  He had slick, black hair that was almost as long as Sam’s but was curly at the ends, blinding white teeth and sparkling blue eyes.
“Who are you?  Like some superhero or something?”  He asked.
“My name’s Y/N and I am a hunter, which is almost like a superhero if you think about it.”  You said as you crossed your arms across your chest.
“Cool.  I’m Clark.”  Clark said while a smile growing onto his face.
You returned the smile as best as you could, which turned out to be a depressing grin.  Clark noticed this.
“Hey, you okay?”  He asked while tilting his head.
“Yeah, yeah.  It’s just...”  You sighed while looking at the floor.  “Things haven’t exactly gone great for me lately.”  You said sadly.
There was a moment of silence before Clark spoke.  “I know something that might help.”  He said with a mischievous smirk playing onto his lips.
You shot him a questioning look.  Clark grabbed your hand and started to lead you to the back door of the building.  When you made it outside, Clark put a fruit basket in the doorway, preventing you two from getting locked outside.  He then reached into his bright red jacket and brought out a pack of cigarettes.  You raised your eyebrows at him.
“You ever smoked before?”  He asked as he started to pull a cigarette out of the box.
“No, not really.”  You said in a shy tone.
“Wanna try?”  Clark asked as he held one out to you.  “It’ll calm your nerves.”
You hesitated.
“Hey, I’m not pressuring you or anything.  You don’t have to do it if you don’t want to.  I just thought that it would help you calm down a little.”  Clark explained.
You bit your lip before taking it out of his hand.  Clark gave you a wide smile as he pulled one out for him and took out a lighter.
“Ladies first.”  Clark said while winking at you and lighting your cigarette at the same time.  You blushed a little while feeling fluttery in your stomach.  When he lit his stick, he started to talk again.  “All you do is bring it to your lips and inhale and after a little bit you exhale, like this.”  He said as he took a drag from his cigarette.  After a few seconds he blew the smoke out of his lungs and into the air.  “You think you got it?”  He asked while raising his eyebrows.
“I think so.”  You said.  You copied his movements and followed his instructions carefully and inhaled from a cigarette for the first time.  There was a burning sensation in your throat and in your lungs.  You immediately started to cough and choke on the smoke.  Clark quickly made his way over to you and put a hand on your back, rubbing reassuring circles.
“Yeah, I forgot to warn you, the first drag is a bitch.  But it will get better, trust me.”  Clark said once you started to breath normally, his hand never leaving your back.
“It’s okay.”  You said as you started to wipe your eyes of tears that were starting to form involuntarily.
After a minute you stand up straight again and catch your breath.  You notice that Clark's hand still hasn't left the small of your back and you give him a questioning look.  Once he gets the message, he retracts his hand and puts it to his side as he clears his throat.
"So.... You good?" He asked, clearly trying to clear the awkwardness from the air.
"Yeah, I'm good." You said as you took another drag from your cigarette, noting that it went down easier than the last time.
Clark gave you an impressed look while copying your actions.  After a couple of minutes of comfortable silence, he decided to speak.  "So,  your job is to what?  Control people with super powers?"
"Kinda.  I hunt the things that lurk in the dark."
"Like ghosts and vampires and stuff?" Clark asked with a chuckle.  You have him a serious look, confirming his question. His eyes widened in realization.  "Wait, you're serious? Those things are real?"
"Yep". You said as you looked away from his face and took another lung full of smoke.
"Damn.  That makes you like ten times more attractive."  Clarke said.  Your eyes widened as blush made its way to your face and neck.  Clark noticed this and smirked, which made your stomach fluttery.
You cleared your throat, trying to think of something to say.  As you were looking around, you noticed that Clark was wearing a Pirate Pete uniform under his red jacket.  “So, you work at Pirate Pete's?”  You asked.
Clark looked down at himself, seeming to notice the stupid costume that he was still wearing.  “Yeah, my mom made me get a job there since I kept getting into trouble.”  He stated.  “Like that would work, I make my own trouble.”  Clark said as he stomped out his cigarette.
“Were you the one who changed the menu earlier today?”
“Yeah.”  He said.  “Not my finest work, I’m better at other things.”
“Oh yeah?  Like what?”  You asked as you threw your cigarette down and stomped it out with the heel of your boot.
“Wouldn’t you like to know.”  He said while wiggling his eyebrows at you.
A small smile made its way to your face.
Clark’s smile widened while stepping closer to you.  “Maybe I can show you some of my talents later, huh?”  He asked.
“I would but people who get close to me seem to get hurt or worse.  I think that you’re a nice guy and all but I just don’t want you to get hurt because of me.”  You said, refusing to meet his gaze.
“Hey I get it.  I just thought that I would shoot my shot, its not everyday that I meet a superhero.”  Clark said as he leaned against the wall behind him.
Before you could say anything else, you heard a foot steps approaching.  You whipped your head up as you saw three people, the woman from the burger joint who apparently wasn’t drunk anymore, a man and a woman, both of whom you didn’t recognize.
“Well well, if it isn’t the youngest Winchester.”  The not-so-drunk woman said as she started to pull out her angel blade.
You took out your own blade as you stood in front of Clark, swearing to yourself that you would protect him as much as you could against these dicks that called themselves angels.
“Aww, young love, adorable.”  The woman sneered as she started to step closer to the two of you.
“Clark, run.”  You said as you met his wide, fear filled eyes.
Clark made a break for it to the back door of the station but the angels were faster.  The man grabbed him and held his blade to Clark’s throat, nearly breaking his skin.
“You seriously didn’t think that would work, did you?”
“Doesn’t hurt to try.” You said but before you could make another move, the other female angel came up behind you, knocked the angel blade out of your hand and held her own blade against your throat.  You held up your hands in surrender, seeing that there was no way to get the upper hand without getting your throat slit.
The angels seemed to share a silent conversation with each other and after a couple of seconds, the lead angel opened the back door and lead the way into the building.  You were lead into the office sector of the police station along with Clark.
“Anybody home?”  The lead angel called out.  Shortly after Dean and the sheriff came out of the small office.  You noticed that Sam did not exit the office along with his brother and the cop which meant that he was more than likely in the jail cell.  When Dean took in the scene before him his eyes widened double their size.  Sheriff Barker drew her gun on the angel holding her son hostage, not knowing that it would do nothing to him.
“Hey Deano.  Care for a chat?”  The woman asked.
Dean pulled out an angel blade that he had hidden in his jacket, anger showing in his forest green eyes.  “Let them go.”  He commanded.
“What’s the fun in that?”  The lead woman asked.
“I won’t ask again.”  Dean said in a deadly tone.
“You won’t have to, all that I want is the nephilim.  Give him to us and these two will walk out of here without a scratch.  I promise.”
“Why should I trust you?”  Dean asked.
“I never asked you to.  Just give us what we want and everyone walks away happily.”
You watched as Dean considered taking the offer.
“Dean I know what you are thinking.  Don’t do it.”  You said.
“Shut up.”  The angel who was holding you captive said as she pressed the blade deeper into your neck, drawing blood.
“Maybe we can work something out.  Just let them go and we can talk.”  Sheriff Barker said, putting her gun back into its holster and putting her hands up in surrender.
The lead angel scoffed.  “You humans don’t get it do you?  If that abomination walks the earth, that can be the end of all life.  We are trying to help.”
“Then that’s a risk that I am willing to take.”  Dean said, giving you a signal to get ready.  You quickly gave one back saying that you already were.  Before the angels could register what was happening, Dean aimed and threw his blade at the head of the angel who was holding you.  As the blade went through her skull and killed her, you quickly grabbed the blade that was being held at your throat.  You make your way over to Clark and attacked the angel who was holding him.  You stopped the angel just before he could stab Clark in the neck.  You took the blade out of his hand, throw it towards Dean and you stab the angel square in the chest.  Dean gets the upper hand and kills the lead angel in one quick movement, catching her off guard.
You make your way over to Clark.
“Hey, you okay?”  You asked as you stashed the blade into your jacket.
“Not really.”  Clark responded with fear in his voice.  “I almost died.”
“But you didn’t.”  You assured him while putting a hand on his shoulder.  “That’s what matters.”
“Yeah.”  He said while putting his shaking hands into his jacket pockets.
Sheriff Barker made her way over to the two of you, looking over Clark to make sure that he was okay.  As they started to talk to each other, you walked towards Dean, preparing yourself for the lecture that he was going to give you.
When you eventually got to him, you crossed your arms and looked at the floor, avoiding Dean’s gaze.
“Y/N, look at me.”  Dean commanded.  You sighed, lifting your head to look at your oldest brothers face.  “Are you okay?”  Dean asked, anger melting from his eyes.
You were taken back by his question but you quickly get yourself together.  “Yeah.”  You answered.
“Good.”  Was all that Dean said before he started to walk towards the jail sector of the station.  You quickly followed.  When the two of you got there, you saw that Sam and Jack were in the same cell.  You shot a look to Sam, silently asking if he was okay.  He gave you a single nod before standing up with Jack and walking to the cell door.
“What happened?”  Sam asked Dean.
“I’ll tell you about it later.”  Was all that Dean said before opening the cell door and letting your brother and Jack out.  “We need to get out of here.  The sheriff called for backup and they can be here any minute.”  Dean explained.
Dean started to lead the way out of the station but you were quickly stopped by your name being called.
“Y/N.”  Clark said, beckoning you to come over to him.
“I’ll catch up.”  You told Sam, making your way over to Clark.
“So, this is it huh?”  Clark asked with a sad smile.
“Yeah, I guess it is.”  You said while sharing his expression.
“Well, there is one thing that I want to do before you leave.”
“And what would that be?”
“This.”  He said before leaning in and pressing his lips to yours.  Butterflies were fluttering in your stomach as you kissed him back with as much passion as you could muster up at that moment.  You two kissed each other for what felt like eternity before you broke the kiss.
Your eyes met his with love and wonder.  “Wow.  You weren’t kidding when you said that you were an expert in other areas.”
He threw his head back, chuckling.  After a moment, he calmed down and met your eyes again.  “Guess not.”  He said.
There was a moment of comfortable silence before you spoke.  “Goodbye Clark.”
“Bye Y/N.”  He said back with a smile.
You returned the smile before turning around and walking out of the station and towards the impala.  As you climbed into the backseat beside Jack, you couldn’t help but hope that you would run into Clark Barker again.

Imagine not telling the boys some important information
Tumblr media
This was supposed to be an easy case, after everything you and the boys had been through you three needed an easy case.
You had known the boys for years, having met at the roadhouse, Ellen told the boys they would be fools to not ask you to help with a case, and you had been stuck with them ever since.
Since then you three had been through the ringer, John Winchester was dead, Yellow Eyes was dead, Sam had died, come back, and died again, before coming back again with no soul. Dean had sold his soul, been ripped apart in front of you, just to turn up on your doorstep four months later, living and breathing. You had befriended an angel, befriended a crossroad demon, and witnessed the apocalypse. You learned that your boys were vessels of Lucifer, and Micheal, learned they had a bastard brother, Jo, and Ellen were dead. And to top it all off you witnessed Dean look you in the eyes, pull you into a hug and whisper, “Be good.”, before he climbed into the impala, and drove back to Lisa and Ben’s doorstep. After a month of no word from him or Cas, you asked Bobby if you could move in permanently, and drank more whiskey than either Winchester ever could. However within a year’s time, Bobby called you down stairs, your hair a mess, an oversized Led Zeppelin shirt was draped over your frame, and in your hand was an empty vodka bottle. As you wandered down the stairs you let out a yawn, and when you opened your eyes, there they were.
Since reuniting with the boys, you learned Sam had returned with no soul, and had been racing around with Samuel, the elder he was named after. Bobby also revealed that he had made a deal with Crowley, and that he had discovered Crowley’s true weakness, his child, Gavin. Gavin’s spirit was extremely willing to reveal where Crowley was buried. Both you and the Winchester’s went to dig up the bones, and upon Crowley collecting them, you all flew back, comforted that Bobby had reclaimed his soul from the new King of Hell. Meg had returned, Death had made an appearance with Sam’s soul, Dean became a vampire, and you fought fairies. Which led you to your current situation, where you were sitting on the hood of the impala, cold beer in hand as Dean, Cas, and Bobby assessed Sam’s current state. The sun reflecting off of your dark sunglasses as you looked towards the back porch door, which shut with a bit of force and revealed the eldest Winchester walking towards you with Bobby.
“Did our precious sleeping beauty fall back asleep?” You called as the men looked away from one another, and found your eyes. Dean scowling as he states, “Why my car? You have a perfectly good car…”
“My car is in the front yard though, and covered by shade, at least your precious baby is in the sun, meaning I can tan.”
“You are wearing jeans and a flannel, what are you tanning?”
“Don’t worry, I won’t scratch her, now what do we do?”
“Well Cas says we can’t let him know, or else the whole wall protecting his mentality.” Bobby replied, as you looked over to him.
“So we just pretend this last year didn’t happen, awesome.” You smiled
“Well for you that will be easy, since you probably drank yourself to unconsciousness for most of it.” Dean joked as you smiled and replied, “So we got a new case yet?”
“Yeah, seems like a pilot was trying to impress a girl, took her flying and his body ended up torn to shreds by god knows what, and the girl is missing.”
“When are we leaving?”
“I expect your shit in the trunk in 30, and I swear if she has any scratches or dents on her hood…”
“I know, you will send me on a one way trip to Hell.” You smiled before finishing your beer, and hopping off the Impala, turning to look at the hood, “Oh look, not even an ass print.”
While sitting in the back seat, you all discussed the case at hand, and discovered the case was larger than just one missing woman. You also quickly learned that Sam had no recollection of the events that occurred since he went into the hole, and innocently asked, “So while I was gone, did you two finally admit you are in love with each other.”
Now it was a common fact among your group that you and Dean loved each other, you said it on multiple occasions, if you ever needed to pose as a couple, you and Dean were always the bait, you shared beds in countless hotels, you were the only one allowed to steal his fries, and you were the only one allowed to touch Baby, as proved earlier. You knew if anyone else even attempted to sit on the Impala, Dean would have their heads, but with you, you just got light harassment. However you both knew it could never happen, due to the life you led, and the baggage you carried with you.
“No, I actually moved in with Lisa and Ben, however we… uhhh… didn’t work out.” Dean answered, looking in the rearview as you added, “She was tired of competing with a car from 1967.”
Sam chuckled, as Dean smiled slightly, his lips corner lifting in an unseen smirk, neifre Sam asked, “So what did you do [Y/N]?”
“You know all the normal stuff, moved in with Bobby, became a functioning alcoholic, researched a bunch.”
“Don’t forget to add, slept with a bunch of dudes.” Dean joked, as your eyes grew slightly, the truth was, you hadn’t slept with anyone, ever. With the life you lead, and the baggage you carried, it was just easier to not get involved with anyone, seriously or causally, most times you never even had a crush, but Dean Winchester was an exception.
“Oh I am sure Sam didn’t need to know about that.” You joked, in an attempt to hide the secret.
“I agree.” Sam added, “Besides, we all know that there is only one person…”
“So are we going straight to Penny’s house when we get to the hotel?” You cut Sam off
“That’s the plan.” Dean answered, pulling into a motel parking lot, “I call first dibs on the bathroom.”
As you opened the door to the motel room, you looked behind you to the two boys in suits, your flannel, boots and jeans replaced with a pencil skirt, black pumps, and white button down, as fake glasses sat on your nose, “I call dibs on the bathroom, unless you want me to just take off the skirt right here.”
“All yours.” Sam replied as Dean lifted an eyebrow, “You need some help with that skirt darling?”
“I think I have it handled Stud, but thank you for the offer.” You replied, before discarding your pumps, and jogging towards the bathroom.
As the door shut behind you, Sam looked to his brother, “Dude, why did you ever leave her for Lisa?”
“What do you mean?”
“Dean, you clearly love her, we all know you both do. Why not try to make it wor….”
“Dude, we have talked about this, she doesn’t want to date because she doesn’t want to burden her next relationship with her baggage.”
“She said that four years ago Dean.”
“And if she wanted to move forward she would tell me, so I nominate you drop it, before she comes out of that door, and kills you with her pumps.”
When you re-emerged, your hair was soaked, and the FBI outfit was replaced with your black leggings, jean jacket, and a tank top, your hand ruffled your wet strands of hair as Dean looked towards you and smiled, “So I think I figured something out.”
“Did you finally learn that Boston Cream pie isn’t pie, but cake?” You questioned, both you and Sam looking to see if he would react, however he just held up a small black book with a silver lock, “No, but we are looking for virgins.”
“Dude is that a diary?” Sam inquired as Dean just nodded, “You stole Penny’s diary?”
“I mean at this point are you really surprised? I have stolen much worse.”
“Honestly Dean, this might be a new low, even for you.” You replied, sitting on your shared bed as you opened Dean’s bag and removed your bourbon lotion, which Dean had stolen from you two months ago. However it was a common tradition for Dean to use your lotion, the origin of the tradition was unknown to either of you, “Besides we have no proof that either of these victims are..”
“Tonight I have decided to give Stan my most precious gift.” The statement sounded extremely creepy as he read Penny’s handwriting, both you and Sam looking towards Dean as you whispered, “Well that wasn’t creepy.”
“It might have been, but you can’t tell me that doesn’t scream Virgin excited to get fucked into next week by Stan.” Dean answered as you returned the lotion to Dean’s bag and chuckled, “Definitely.”
“Okay, so why would this creep be after virgins?”
“No idea, I mean I prefer a woman with experience, someone who probably has daddy issues, lots of baggage and her drink of choice is whiskey. Also she has to smell like bourbon.”
“Sounds like you are looking for a bartender.” You smiled, as Sam cleared his throat, causing you to glance over to him, a blush in both your and Dean’s face, “So what do we think it could be?”
“Easy, dragon.” You shrugged, as they both met your eyes,”I mean they are attracted to virgins, they are like a fine delicacy to them.”
“Yeah, but they are extinct.” Sam replied as you pulled out your phone
“At least that’s what everyone says, but what if they aren’t, they are just underground.” You answered, your fingers pressing a familiar number sequence on your number pad before you brought your phone to your ear.
“Yeah?”
“Hey Bobby, I got an odd request for ya.”
“I’m all ears.”
“What do you know about dragons?”
“You mean other than the fact that they are extinct?” He replied as you smiled, “And what if I said I think we stumbled upon a case that proves they aren’t.”
“Well I can look into it, but how do you know…”
“Dean stole one of the vic’s diaries, and there is a line in it that screams virgin.”
“I’ll see what I can find, but while I do that, I got a friend who might be able to help. If you and Dean wanted to take a ride over, her name is Dr. Visyak. It is kinda her specialty,”
“Thanks Bobby. I’ll tell the guys.” You replied, before hanging up, your eyes casting to the eldest, “Bobby said he would do some digging, however he might have a friend who can help, said Dean and I should take a ride over.”
“Sure sweetheart, whatever you say.” He smiled, alarm in his eyes as you both threw on your shoes and started towards the impala. Before opening the passenger door, you said to the air, “Cas, I need you to babysit Sam, just for an hour or two.”
Once in the car, you turned the music up, and screamed along with the mixtape you made Dean once for Christmas, both of you rocking out to the songs before the song You’re My Best Friend by Queens started playing, and you both looked at each other. This was the song that you both defined your relationship by, and as the lyrics blared through the speakers, you couldn’t help but lean your head back against the headrest, and look at the dirty blonde, green eyes man seated beside you as he took his callused, dry, enormous hand into yours, smiles on both of your faces as you sang every word. Once it was over however, Dean let go of your hand, and turned the radio off.
“Awww come on, Air Supply is next.” You groaned as Dean looked at you quickly, before he asked, “What are we doing [Y/N]?”
“What do you mean Dean?”
“Listen, I know we talked about this once, but then…”
“You messed it up by selling your soul.”
“And you told me you didn’t want to date because you had a lot of baggage that you didn’t want me to have to deal with, nor were you willing to tell me.”
“Guess we are both at fault.” You replied as he breathed out.
“Listen I know what we said, and that this is by far the dumbest decision we could make as hunters, but what if we try?”
“And risk losing my best friend?”
“You really think we won’t be best friends even if we break up, I mean it will be awkward knowing what my best friend looks like completely naked, but other then that nothing else has to change.”
“You offer a very valid point.” You exhaled, as he pulled into the address Bobby had sent you, “How about this, we get this son of a bitch, and go home to Bobby’s. After unloading the impala we drive over to that bakery on the corner by the grocery store, get a pecan pie, two forks, and a case of beer. Then we talk about it.”
“Promise?”
“Promise.” You replied, before holding your pinky out and watching him link his own to yours, as you pulled apart you both threw the impala doors open, and started towards the doors of Dr. Visyak’s office.
Upon reaching the door, Dean reached out and knocked, a few moments passing before the door creaked open revealing Dr. Visyak, “ Can I help you?”
“Hi, I’m Dean Winchester, and this is [Y/N] [Y/L/N], we are friends of Bobby Singer, and he said you might be able to help us out.”
“How about you just go kick him in the family jewels, it would be more poetic.”she replied, Dean’s face taking an O appearance as you replied, “That bad? Doesn’t surprise me honestly.”
“I am glad you understand, I would share, but that’s his story to tell. However if he sent you here, he must be desperate.”
“What can you tell us about dragons?” You asked, as her eyes increased in size, “Dragons? Really?”
“What, no 12 sided dice jokes?” Dean asked as you looked at him, “How do you get a DND player to go out with you?”
“Do I want to know?”
“You ask them on a D8.” Dr. Visyak smiled at you after delivering the punch line, your eyes fixated on the confused face of Dean before she opened the door wider, allowing you both to enter the house. As you entered you leaned over slightly and whispered, “You asked.”
As she guided you to the parlor you inquired, “So what can you tell us about them?”
“Well if they are active then you should be extremely concerned.”
“Can we kill them?” Dean followed up, as she looked at the artifacts on the wall, “Of course you can, however you need a blade forged in a dragon's blood.”
“Of course you would need a dead dragon to kill a dragon.” You breathed out
“No dear, you just need one of the blades, they are quite rare, only 5, maybe 6 in the whole world.”
“Of course there is.” Dean sighed
“One of which is in my basement.”
“What?” You both asked, eyes on her as she smiled.
“I can show you, if you like.”
“Yes please.” You replied before following her down the steps and into the room with a large rock, a sword hilt sticking out of it as you looked towards Dean.
“Thank goodness I have the macho man with me.”you smiled as he raised an eyebrow.
“So what’s with the rock?”
“Dean, have you never heard the story of Excalibur?”
“Who?”
“More of a what actually, it was a sword that was trapped in a rock during 5th century Britain, King Arthur pulled it out at the age of 15, and from there vowed to pursue a life of justice in the name of God. However some claim it was a test from Merlin to prove he was truly the king. However both stories kinda have the same message, if you wanna pull the sword out, you must be worthy.”
“I mean I think I am pretty worthy.”
“Sure you are my shining knight in tin foil.” You stated as he threw up his middle finger and advanced towards the rock. You folded your arms and leaned back against the doorframe and smiled, as he gripped the hilt and breathed out, “Alrighty Dean, time to impress the lady.”
Soon the room was filled with your laughter as you watched Dean struggle and after several minutes of struggling he finally slipped from the rock and landed on his back a groan filling the room as you wandered over to him and looked down over him, arms crossed as he groaned, “You okay Dean?”
“I would be if you were wearing a skirt.” He groaned, his green eyes looking up at you as you smiled, “Smooth one.”
“Wanna give it a go my fair maiden?”
“Of course I do, but first I need to get something out of the impala.” You extended a hand for the keys, which Dean happily surrendered, as he did he stated, “If you need me, I’ll be here, on the ground, just waiting.”
When you returned you were holding a small cylinder of TNT, Dean’s head lollied towards you as he groaned, “We had that the whole time?”
“Yeah, however I figured before we blew it up, you might want to attempt proving your worth.”
“I mean yeah, but the boom sticks would be way funnier.” He sighed as you extended a hand to help him up,once vertical you extended the TNT and stated, “Either way Dr. Visyak is going to be pissed.”
“So let me get this straight, you both found out that to kill a dragon, we need a dragon blade, which is extremely rare, and you two decided to blow it up and break it?” Sam asked, as you both looked at the towel on the table, which you used to wrap the severed blade.
“Now when you say it like that Sammy it sounds like we knew it was going to break in half.” You replied
“What did you think was going to happen [Y\N]!”
“I don’t know, something amazing.” You replied as Sam looked to the blade
“It could be worse, it could have been completely destroyed. I mean at this point we can still kill the son of a bitch, we just have to get a bit closer.” Dean defended you as you looked at him.
“So, Sam, you figure out where we can find it?”
“Yeah, it looks like he is using the sewers, my best bet is he is somewhere in this region.” Sam answered, his finger landing within a hand drawn red circle he made to symbolize the likely hideout.
“Well, what are we waiting for?” Dean asked, “Let’s go get the son of a bitch.”
After wandering for hours you were starting to think it was hopeless, until you saw the slight glimmer of the pile of treasure.
As soon as you pointed it out, Dean walked over to it and knelt before it, reaching out to start shoving it in his pocket.
“Really Dean?” Sam stated as you held up a hand, “No let him have this, who knows when it will happen again.”
“You two are unbelievable sometimes.” Sam sighed as Dean stood up and tossed a ruby towards you, “That is for your unconditional support.”
That’s when you heard the bang, and you and Sam turned your attention from Dean, and down the tunnel before you. Both of you started towards the noise as Dean quickly followed, and soon you found yourselves in a large space, and could see the girls crying through the grates, none of them noticing you were standing there. However before any of you could get to them, you heard a bang above you, and looked up to see two men on a runway above you. Quickly you were bonding up the stairs to the runway, and upon getting up there one snarled, “I never thought our job would be so easy that virgins would start coming to us.”
“Shut the fuck up.” You retorted as Dean arrived behind you, sword in hand as he quickly advanced, slashing at the beast before noticing one behind me, “[Y/N]!” He hollered, tossing the blade before slugging the younger dragon he was fighting, catching the blade, you quickly turned, and sliced a small incision into the arm of the older one, who quickly exclaimed, “You will regret that Virgin.”
Ducking his own swing, you quickly tossed the blade back to Dean, who caught it as you both backed up closer to one another, ducking again before swinging Dean decided to ask you, “Anything you want to tell me Darling?”
“I really wish we didn’t use TNT.” You replied, looking out of the corner of your eye to see Dean take another swing.
“Anything else? Like why these assholes keep calling you…”
“I’m a virgin, no big deal.”
“Umm it is kind of a big deal right now.”
“Nah I think we got this.” You replied, Sam finally joining you all on the runway as you reached around and took the sword, which you once again swung at the older dragon, before Sam hit him from behind, distracting him for a second as you turned, and landed the blade into the younger dragon as Dean punched him, a speech of pain filling the space as you felt something wrap around your middle before the rapid feeling of acceleration overtook you, a scream exiting your lips as you dropped the sword, neither Sam or Dean were able to even process what was happening until they heard the crash from above, the man hole that was above them wide open as Dean screamed, “Son of a bitch!”
Dean’s POV
Tumblr media
My foot was to the floor, knuckles gripped tightly on the steering wheel as her words echoed over and over, “I’m a virgin, no big deal.”
“I don’t get it, why would the dragons take her?” Sam asked as I pulled into the parking lot of the motel, releasing a breath I didn’t even know I was holding I whispered, “She was a virgin.”
“What?”
“We basically served them a victim on a silver platter.” He huffed as Sam looked at him, before muttering something about getting the bags, however all I heard was the shutting off the impala doors, which triggered me to begin beating the steering wheel. How could I be so blind.
The ride to Bobby’s was silent, I didn’t even have the desire to put on the radio. Upon arriving I noticed Cas was standing on the porch, his eyes directed right at the impala as I turned the key, and the purr of Baby died down, leaving her silent as I sat there, my head leaned back against the headrest as Sam looked towards me, “We have to go in Dean.”
“We weren’t supposed to be here.” I stated, Sam’s eyes filled with concern as the tears gathered, I could feel the sob in my chest as I continued, fighting the urge to let the sob loose, “We agreed that we would go get pie as soon as we dropped you off, along with a case of beer and two fork, and finally figure out this whole sexual tension thing. If I had just suggested it sooner, if I had the fucking balls to tell her I don’t give a damn about the relationship rule…..” my voice grew silent, and then turned into a growl, “ he might be here.”
“Dean none of us knew…”
“I should have! I was her best friend, we told each other everything.” I stated, before I took the door handle into my hand, and gripped the cool metal, pulling with force to trigger the door to open. As I advanced towards the angel he grimly stated, “Dean, I’m sorry…”
“Where is she Cas?” I asked, not looking for small talk
“I have lost track of her, either she is being possessed and whatever is holding her prisoner is blocking her from angels' sight, or she has..”
“Don’t you dare fucking say it.” I growled, before pushing through the peeling paint door, and advancing straight to the kitchen, grabbing her bottle of Jack before pushing out the back door, the smooth glass lips of the bottle on mine as I grabbed the bat Bobby had sitting on the porch, and wandered into the pile of junk cars. Once I was in front of a mostly complete car, I set the bottle down and took a swing.
Back to [Y/N] POV
Upon waking up you could feel you body jostling around, you were sitting up, feet and wrist bond with thick rope, your eyes covered with a bandanna as you opened them, your nose filled with the stench of BO and sewer.
“Ever heard of Axe body spray?” You snapped as you heard a foreign laugh, “It’s alright sweetheart, you won’t be around long enough to even be bothered by the smell.”
“So tell me, what was the point of all this, to drive all of the virgins out into the woods, a feast upon their pure flesh?”
“Nope, I have a bigger plan for you, you are the only one who seems worthy enough for Eve.”
“What is she your girlfriend or something?”
“No, she is my mother, and you will soon be her vessel.”
“When they find you…”
“Oh your two little boyfriends that killed my brother? They don’t scare me.”
“It isn’t them I would be scared of.” As you growled that, you felt the vehicle stop, and a door open and shut. Soon you felt your own door open, your feet cut loose, as you went to kick, yet he was too quick, and soon you were dragged out and felt the cool breeze against your face. As you inhaled the fresh, crisp night air, he removed the bandanna, and revealed the gully to you, causing you to respond, “Ahh I take it I am a sacrifice?”
“Now you’ve caught on.”
“Oh now you are definitely fucked when he finds you.”
“ Ego coniuro vos, insolubiliter ad mei potenciam aligati! Ad me...Sine prestolacione venire... Debeatis aperiat!” With the last part he took all his force and shoved you as hard as he could, your body flying over the ledge and towards the bottom of the large ravine, which was quite warm. That is when it all went dark.
When you opened your eyes, you were in a hotel room, the tv screen covered in static as you looked around, hoping it was a dream, “Sam, Dean!” You called, but the voice that replied was neither.
“Hello [Y/N]. Or should I call you Ailsa?” A female voice asked, as you spun around, looking for the source
“Only my father can call me that.” You snapped
“ Feisty, I like it, tell me do you really think your dear old daddy is going to find you.”
“Do you have any idea who you are…”
“Ailsa MacLeod, you were born in 1803, your mother was a mortal, she died from you ripping your way out of her womb. Your father… well your father is a bastard. You were raised in the depths of hell, your beauty preserved among the paperwork, and your father constantly looking over your shoulder. You left in 1981, and became a hunter, drifting motel to motel, bar hopping, until you met the legendary Winchesters, who became your family. Tell me what do you think Sam and Dean would think if they saw those bright ruby eyes you hid behind your [Y/E/C] ones?”
“How do you…”
“How foolish of me, I haven’t even properly introduced myself, I am Eve, mother of purgatory, and the one who is going to tear your father’s heart from his chest for what him and his partner have done to my children.”

A/N: hey, so this is basically a revision of a piece I wrote when I first started this page, I was recently reading it, and I was cringing the whole time. (Which if you cringed during this rewrite I am sorry, I believe that your writing always improves during time, so who knows maybe if I rewrite this in another 5 years it will be even better) plus this is a nice break from the two major stories I have been focusing on for the past three months I have been in quarantine.
Today I have to go to my rehiring meeting with my place of employment, so hopefully life will be normal soon, but I promise I will keep posting 🖤

The Honest Truth
Jack Kline x Winchester!Reader
Word Count 1,895
Warnings: mention of surgery, brief mention of blood/bodily fluids, prescription drug use (not abuse), sibling teasing, brief mention of nudity, fluff.
Request: From @mrswinchester29: “Hi please can I have a winchester sister imagine where I have my wisdom teeth taken out and I'm loopy from the medicine and they boys ask me lots of questions to get an honest response ( who scratched baby , who ate the last slice of pie , who's my favourite brother ect) and I then admit I'm in love with jack and then jack and cas tell the boys to stop and the next morning we talk about it thanks and please can you tag me when it's done xx”
A/N: I hope this is mostly accurate. I didn’t have general anesthesia when I had my wisdom teeth removed, only local anesthesia. But, I’ve had several surgeries, and I know what it’s like to wake up from anesthesia/be on pain meds. So, I based this on my experiences. Enjoy! Feedback is appreciated.

Your brothers hovered over you, their stupid grins wider than you ever remember seeing them. The room was spinning, and… Sam had something in his teeth. You giggled and pointed, but the words didn’t quite come out as planned.
“Ha! Teethies!” you chuckled, leaning a little to the side. Damn anesthesia. Luckily someone had propped you up with pillows on each side, keeping you from falling face-first to the ground.
Dean nearly lost it as he beamed down at you. “Yes, sis. Sam has teeth—” He could barely keep from laughing. “And you’re missing a few now.”
Your eyes widened. “I’m missing my teeth?!” you shrieked through the rolled gauze that crowded your cheeks. Your hands flew to your face, instantly making contact with the ice pack that was tied around your head. You winced.
“No, Y/N. You had your wisdom teeth removed. They needed to come out,” Castiel reiterated. Where the hell did he come from?
“Dean squatted down in front of you and smiled. “Y/N, how do you feel right now?” he inquired without a hint on concern on his face.
“Uh, I feel fine,” you muttered, drooling a little onto your chin. Sam quickly wiped your chin with a paper towel.
“Any pain?”
You tried to shake your head, but everything began to spin. “Nope!”
“Good. I wouldn’t want my little sister hurting.” He was chuckling a little. You giggled with him, not quite sure what was so funny. But, just hearing his laugh made you laugh.
“I have a question, Y/N. Which one of us do you want to help take care of you until you feel better?” Dean interrogated with that usual grin. You looked between Sam, Dean, Cas, and Jack, who stood behind everyone with a concerned gaze.
“Uh, Sam.” You answered bluntly. Dean scoffed and stood back up.
“Hey! I’m a great nurse!” he teased you. You shook your head a little.
“Sam’s nicer. He teases less,” you answered honestly. “He isn’t an asshole.” Everyone but you and Jack laughed.
“Hey! Be nice, Y/N,” Dean joked, rubbing your shoulder. “I’m not that bad.” He glanced over at Cas, then Sam. “But, I have to know, who stole my candy out of my desk drawer?” He smiled down at you.
You leaned back a little, then giggled. “I forgot about that!” you exclaimed in a muffled tone. You grinned. “That was me.”
Dean rolled your eyes and sighed. “I should have known.” Then, he leaned a little further in. “But what about the pie I bought last week? I put it in the fridge, but it was half gone the next morning.” He turned to Sam. “And Sam won’t eat lemon meringue.”
You furrowed your brow. “Yes, he does!” You sucked in a breath, exposing your blood-tinged gauze. “He shared with me.”
Dean’s eyes widened as he spun towards Sam. “You little fucking liar,” he snarled, shoving Sam’s shoulder. Sam swatted him.
“Dude, she’s drugged. She could be lying.” Dean shook his head, laughing.
“Oh, no. I remember when you got your wisdom teeth pulled. It was like you took a truth potion.” Dean smirked, then turned back to you.
“Alright, then.” Sam huffed, deciding to play along. “Did you steal my headphones? The good ones?” He folded his arms over his chest. “They’ve been missing for a few weeks now, and Dean has his own.”
You shook your head but couldn’t hold in the giggle. “Noooo,” you groaned. Sam just rolled his eyes.
“Yeeeees,” he countered. “I know you have them. I spotted them on your desk a few days ago.” His gaze narrowed.
“Fiiine, yes,” you confessed finally. One of your hands reached up, pressing the ice pack a little firmer against your skin.
Dean turned to Sam again and chuckled again. Sam smirked at his brother and nodded. “How about we have Cas be your nurse for the night?” Dean continued. “I’m sure you’d love to have Cas stare at you all night awkwardly from the corner of the room,” Dean teased, shooting Cas a smile. Cas didn’t return the gesture, not even offering a chuckle.
You frowned. “No, that’s creepy!” you grunted. “Sorry, love you Cas.” You nudged the irritated angel, who offered a half-smile. He was no fun.
Sam huffed a laugh. “What about Jack? Then he can stare at you all night.” You glanced over at the young half-angel, forcing your heart to race. Hmm, that wasn’t a bad idea.
“He’d see me naked when I change!” You drooled a little again, which Cas eventually wiped off your chin when Sam neglected to do so.
Dean’s eyebrow wiggled. “You don’t want Jack to see you naked?” he interrogated playfully, shooting Jack a quick glance. He looked away, his cheeks flushed.
You grinned as much as you could. “I wouldn’t mind. He’s the hot angel. Sorry, Cas.” Castiel’s eyes widened a little, but Jack’s eyes were like saucers. “Mmmm.”
You groaned a little as your jaw began to ache again. But, your brothers didn’t notice. They were too busy howling with laughter.
“Is that why you always want to be right next to him in the car? You wanna feel him against you—”
“That’s enough, Dean. She doesn’t know what she’s saying,” Cas commanded, taking a step towards you. His arm slipped under your armpit and lifted you onto your feet. “She doesn’t know what’s going on. She’s still feeling the effects of the anesthesia.”
“Oh, c’mon Cas! She knows it’s a joke! Were her brothers!” Dean argued, reaching for your other arm.
Jack blocked Dean’s reach, shooting him a dark scowl. “Leave her alone! She just had surgery. She needs to rest, not answer stupid questions!” Dean took a step back, his eyes locked on Jack. But, Jack stood his ground for another few moments, allowing Cas to pull you from the scene.
Sam sighed. “He’s right, Dean. She’s high as a kite on those pain meds.”
Dean huffed. “Fine, party pooper.” Then, your older brother turned away, rolling his eyes.
Tumblr media
A few days later, you finally felt a lot better. You were able to eat normally again, and you weren’t in any more pain. And, best of all, your mind was clear.
Everyone other than Cas had left you alone for the last few days, giving you the silence you needed to rest. Sam occasionally texted you from his room to ask if you needed anything. But, other than that, they gave you space.
But today, you were ready to venture out into the rest of the bunker.
Your stomach growled reminding you that you were fucking starving. So, you headed for the kitchen in search of lunch.
The moment you crossed the threshold, you stopped dead in your tracks. Jack stood at the counter, leaning over something that he was dishing onto a plate.
Jack turned when he heard your footsteps, greeting you with a smile.
“Hi, Y/N.” He turned, revealing his plate with two slices of pizza. He glanced down at the plate, then back at you. “Would you like a slice of pizza? Dean ordered it yesterday, and there is a lot left over.” You smiled.
“Sure, Jack. Thanks.” You watched him slide his plate onto the counter.
“How are you feeling?” he inquired, grabbing another plate.
“Back to normal, thank goodness. I never knew that having a few teeth pulled was such an ordeal.” You accepted the plate of steaming pizza from Jack, nodding in thanks.
“Glad to hear.” He grabbed his plate and headed for the small kitchen table. “That medication really affected you.” You frowned as you took the seat across from him.
“Uh, yeah. I guess it did. I don’t really remember a whole lot.” You stared down at your pizza. “I don’t really like that stuff.”
Jack took a bite, then wiped his face. “You were… really honest about a lot of things. Your brothers, mostly Dean, asked you a lot of questions.”
“What type of questions?” you snapped, suddenly not hungry. Sam and Dean were always pranking you, and always wanted to find ways to humiliate you.
Jack’s cheeks reddened a little. “Well, they asked if you stole Sam’s headphones, and who ate Dean’s candy stash.” You giggled. Of freaking course they did.
“Well, that would explain where the headphones went.” You sighed, then finally took a bite of your pizza. “What else did they ask? What my laptop password was?”
Jack remained quiet for a moment, then sighed. “They asked you who you wanted to take care of you while you recovered. At first, you said Sam because Dean is an ‘asshole’. But, Dean teased you some more and, well, you said some things about me.” Your heart nearly leapt from your chest.
“What did I say?” you deadpanned. Jack placed his pizza crust onto his plate and swallowed thickly.
“You said that you wouldn’t mind me being your nurse and seeing you naked. And, you said I was the hotter angel.” His face was bright red at this point, and he was avoiding eye contact. You were almost certain that you were going to throw up the three bites of pizza you had taken. But, after a deep breath, you calmed yourself.
“I said that, huh? Wow. It’s amazing what we say when something is altering our minds.” You stared down at your chilling pizza, unable to move. Jack was smart enough to know that you were trying to make an excuse. He knew you meant everything you said on those meds. Plus, you were still coming down from anesthesia. That combo was like Professor Snape’s truth serum.
“Yeah, it sounded like you were telling the truth about everything else.” Okay, there was no getting out of this.
“I-I was, Jack. The honest truth. I don’t think I could have lied if I tried.” You lifted your head and met his gaze.
“You think I’m hot?” Jack asked. His voice was almost painfully innocent.
You smiled. “Among other things.”
“Like what?” Jack asked with a mouthful of pizza. He seemed interested, but abnormally nonchalant about the whole thing.
“Well, you’re kind and smart. Oh, and very supportive. I always feel like you have my back no matter what I’m trying to do.”
“I do.” Jack smiled up at you, a small amount of sauce plaguing his lip.
Your fingers toyed with the edge of your plate. “I know Jack. And that’s what I love about you.”
“I love you too, Y/N.” Your eyes widened painfully fast.
“W-What?”
Jack finished his last bite, then wiped his face. “I feel the same way you tdo. At least, the way I think you feel. You have romantic feelings for me, don’t you?” His striking blue eyes locked on yours. You felt oddly calm now, almost relieved.
“Yeah, Jack. I do.” His rosy lips curled into an amiable smile. You mimicked the gesture, reaching out your hand. He took it happily.
“It’s really nice to hear that from you when you’re not so… inebriated,” Jack confessed. You giggled, squeezing his hand.
“And it’s the honest truth,” you reassured him.
The two of you stayed like that for a while, completely silent. You didn’t care what the next move was, or if anyone walked in. You just held Jack’s hand in yours, grateful for the honesty that pain medication forced out of you.

The black Harley Davidson rolls into the parking lot of the Hampton Inn, followed by the Chevrolet Impala. Zoë hasn’t said a word to Sam since she found Taylor at the Dawlson home. Both of them gave a statement to the local police and managed to talk their way out of an interrogation at the department, Zoë continuing her role as agent Sharon Evans. Without missing a beat, Sam improvised and said he was her partner. They kept the cops in the dark, hoping they will not be making their ghost hunt more difficult than it already is.
Sam also talked to Jeff Dawlson. The poor guy was a mess, but the widower made clear that he was certain that this wasn’t just some ordinary murder. The silence, the windows that didn’t break, the door that didn’t open. He called it a force, something he couldn’t possibly begin to explain. Even for a skeptic down to earth guy like Jeff, this was obviously not from their world. So Sam told him everything about Laura, all that they know. Jeff took it quite well, even thanked them for their attempt to save his wife, but he was devastated, never to be the same.
Quiet, Zoë gets off her bike, takes her laptop case out of the saddlebag and strolls to the entrance. She’s glad no one stole her Macbook when she left it at the terras, the database as valuable to her as John’s journal is to the boys.      Sam follows her, watching the huntress as she makes her way to room seventeen; not a single remark has left her lips, yet she keeps a straight face. People passing by don’t notice anything about the strong woman, but Sam can only imagine that this is messing with her.
The huntress slips the key card through the lock and opens the door. As she expected, Dean is obviously present. A KFC bag and several paper wrappings plus an empty bucket that once contained fried chicken are scattered on the bedspread, loud music is blaring on the radio. Dean, who is freshening up in the bathroom, apparently didn’t hear them come in, because he keeps singing along with the song.
“There’s a lot of people sayin' we'd be better off dead. Don't feel like Satan, but I am to them. So I try to forget it, any way I can. Keep on rockin' in the free world!”, he belts out.
His younger brother halts and raises his eyebrows, but doesn’t laugh or chuckle; his brother’s poor vocal skills would have been amusing if the circumstances were different.      Zoë doesn’t appreciate his singing either and she slams her fist on the bathroom door. “Hey, Neil Young! Shut your piehole, will ya?”      They hear a glass breaking on the bathroom floor and Zoë rolls her eyes while sighing deeply. Wonderful.      “Fuck,” Dean curses softly, then sets up a voice loud enough for Zoë to hear it. “Sorry!”
Without responding she walks away from the door and turns down the volume of the radio completely, allowing a deadly silence to hover the room. As Sam picks up the paper wrappings, Dean pops his head around the corner.      “What the hell are you doing here?” he asks them both, when he notices his brother by the door.      “I could ask you the same thing,” Sam returns.      “I let him break in,” Zoë says before Dean can answer.      “Didn’t expect you two to be back anytime soon.” He walks out of the bathroom, buttoning his white shirt, since he doesn’t have a change of clothes. “The shower is amazing, by the way. It’s so big and it has this fucking awesome massage setting--”      “Something occurred at the Dawlsons,” Sam interrupts.
His older brother halts and looks from Sam to Zoë, who sat down on the bed, staring at nothing in particular, her gaze blank.      She can feel his unspoken question and decides to answer. “She’s dead.”      Dean expected something like that when he sensed the mood, but it still comes as a shock. He needs a few seconds to collect his thoughts.      “Dead as in hit-by-a-car-dead or killed-by-a-ghost-dead?” he asks carefully.
A depressing quietness remains between the hunters. Zoë doesn’t reply; words aren’t necessary. When her eyes meet his, Dean knows enough. The oldest of the brothers breathes out with a sigh and looks away, shaking his head; damn it.      “Did you see Laura?” he wonders.      “We did,” Sam responds on Zoë’s behalf. “We tried to stop her.”      Dean frowns at that. “How did you know Laura was inside the house? So far no one witnessed her actual attack, right?”      “I had a vision,” Sam explains.
Both Zoë and Dean look up at him, stunned by his statement. Zoë is well aware Sam had one. But what she didn’t know is that Sam told his brother about his ability, which she presumes, as he just blurted it out like that.      Dean however, bites down the mixture of concern and frustration. He tries to ignore the fact his brother shared this information in the presence of the huntress, which they only met a couple of days ago.  Filing it under either carelessness, he addresses the other issue: since when does Sam have these visions when he’s awake? “You fell asleep or something’?”      “No, this was the first time he had one during the day,” Zoë answers before Sam does.
The comment triggers Dean to snap his head towards her, unpleasantly surprised to learn she’s all up to date with Sam’s powers. Agitated, he glares at his brother.      “You told her?!” he exclaims.      “Yeah, so? We hunt together, so what’s the big deal?” Sam returns defensively.      “You wanna know what the big deal is? If this goes public amongst hunters, some of them might seriously keep an eye on you, Sam!” his brother snaps.      Zoë tries to cool the looming clash. “It’s safe with me, Dean.”      “That’s not the fucking point!” He counters angrily, focusing on the huntress. “He doesn’t realize how dangerous this could be!”      Sam reminds him of his presence. “Don’t talk like I’m not even here, Dean.”
Zoë’s not sure where it’s coming from, but she has the sudden urge to defend Sam. She can relate with the youngest Winchester, she’s going through the same after all. Dean has no idea what these special abilities feel like, how painful and confusing they are, how they wreck their mind. He’s not the one experiencing them. Who the hell does he think he is to tell Sam how to handle this?      “Like you have a clue what’s going on,” she jumps in. “I think hunters are the last ones on earth you should worry about.”      Dean narrows his eyes at her, reading into her words. “What the fuck is that supposed to mean?”      “Haven’t you wondered where this is coming from?” she looks up at him, waiting for an answer. “Because I for one have never encountered a human being with supernatural powers. Have you?”
Silence. It might not have yet occurred to Dean, though, but Sam and Zoë have thought of it constantly. People, normal, random people, shouldn’t be having visions, period. Zoë is right; It’s not normal, it’s not human.
Dean however, decides to ignore her notification and points his finger at his younger brother in the way a father would do to his son. “You shut up about this,” he warns. “If you wanna talk about it, talk to me. If you share this with anyone else--”      “Don’t you treat me like you’re Dad!” Sam counters.      Zoë rolls her eyes the moment John is mentioned. She turns to the window with her hands placed firmly on her slender waist.      “I am responsible for you and I am the one who has to drag your ass out of trouble when you have God knows what on your tail because of this freaky stuff. As long as Dad ain’t around, I’m gonna talk to you like that. Suck it up!” Dean returns sternly.      Sam huffs and grinds his teeth. He hates, absolutely hates it when he’s treated like a child. It doesn’t matter if he’s talked down on by Dad or Dean; he can’t stand it. He's twenty-two for Christ's sake!      “No. This is my life, my problem. I’m not gonna listen to you,” Sam sneers, cynically.      Furiously, Dean raises his voice. “Yes, you are!!”      “Would you two SHUT THE FUCK UP?!”
Both brothers seize their argument and look at Zoë, who turned around to face then. Enraged, she glares at them, her penetrating eyes darting from one to the other, disgusted by their behavior.      “How old are you? Fucking ten?!” she asks resentfully. “People are dying and you two are actually arguing over who’s boss and who’s not?!”      Sam gulps; she has a point. This is senseless; because both Dean and Sam know that neither of them are willing to admit their wrong. Even Dean seems to be ashamed, his green eyes breaking away from Zoë’s penetrating stare.      “I’m gonna be honest with you two. If you don’t get along, that’s your problem, but you’re no good to me if you don’t function together,” she continues, gritting her teeth in frustration. “An innocent just died, Goddamnit!”
They could hear a pin drop in the spacious hotel room. Having enough of the Winchesters’ stupidity, Zoë turns her back on them and saunters to the end of the room. She sits down on the bed, sniffing, then she wipes her nose.
Tumblr media
Sam and Dean exchange a look, both noticing how much this is bothering her. So far the huntress seems to be a lot more careless about cases; she’s more the shoot-to-thrill type. She was willing to leave this case in her rear view mirror after all.      Dean  carefully attempts to find out what’s really going on with the fellow hunter. “What’s wrong, Zo?”
Instead of answering, she just shakes her head. Avoiding their questioning eyes, Zoë folds her hands together and rests her elbows on her knees. For a long while she doesn’t speak, but then she starts to open up, just a little bit.      “I was supposed to watch her,” she claims. “Yet I was goofing around and bored, while she got slaughtered.”      “This isn’t your fault,” Sam replies immediately, trying to take away the guilt.      “It is.” Her piercing gaze moves to meet his. “I should have known, I should have drawn a conclusion from the first two killings, but I didn’t.”      “Hey, we didn’t see this coming either,” Dean brings to mind.      “It doesn’t matter. Someone lost their life again while I could’ve prevented it,” she states, her voice fragile now.
Sam furrows his brow, confused. Again? What does she mean? With a questioning look, he glances over at Dean and is surprised by what he sees. Compassion, compassion for Zoë. He realizes Dean might know more about her past, after all, he and Dad worked her case and casted out the demon that possessed her. Dean wasn't in a sharing mood when his younger brother requested more details about what happened back then. Sam thought he didn't know more and that their dad kept him in the dark, but now he begins to realize that he simply didn't want to elaborate on it. Is it not his place to tell? Or did that hunt go wrong?
Dean offers some reassuring words, trying to convince her. “Zo, what happened back then was out of your hands.”      “Don’t go there,” she warns.      “You shouldn’t still be blaming yourself for that, nor should you feel guilty about today,” he presses.      “I said: Don’t. Go. There,” Zoë repeats, glaring over her shoulder.      Sam glances from one to the other, disorientated, unable to follow the conversation. The oldest of the Winchester brothers isn’t spooked by the threat, however.      “Maybe you should step away from the case,” he suggests.      “What?!” she cries out, perplexed.      “It’s obvious that you’re emotional about this, Zo,” he starts to explain, deliberately getting under her skin.      “Emotional?!” She scoffs, fury in her eyes, pressing her clenched fist in the mattress. “Oh, I’m sorry. Am I not allowed to give a fuck about people dying? My mistake!”      “I’m just saying that maybe you should let us take care of this one,” he explains.
He might say so, but Dean doesn’t want her to quit. What he does want, is to trigger her. He used the same technique on his brother before and it worked like a charm, it seems like it might just work on the huntress as well. He can sense her blood beginning to boil as she rises to her feet; he really pissed her off this time.      “Are you fucking serious right now?! I don’t quit on cases, I don’t take the easy way out!” she yells, pointing at her chest.      “You were gonna before you allowed us to help you. So tell me why the hell you’re so worked up all of a sudden,” he bounces back.      “No!” Zoë shouts outrageously, her voice hitting a higher tone than she anticipated. “I don’t wanna talk about it!”      “It’s been over four years, Zoë. It’s about damn time you talk about it. This isn’t healthy,” Dean pressures.      “I just can’t, okay?”
Her voice is suddenly softer now as it breaks, almost begging him to stop. She averts her gaze quickly, but Sam could see her eyes glister. Slowly, he starts to get the idea of what happened back then, remembering the first file in her database, the one consisting of the demon that possessed her.      “Zoë, if this has something to do with that Diligo Vesco demon...” he carefully starts off. “Whatever happened, it wasn’t on you.”      “My hands--” She holds them up in front of her. “- and his blood all over them. Now don’t you tell me it wasn’t me.”
Confused, Sam cocks his head from Zoë to Dean, who watches the woman with his arms crossed in front of his chest. His stance is still defensive, but his eyes tell a different story, one of empathy.      When the huntress spots the confused expression on Sam’s face and turns to Dean as well. “You didn’t tell him?”      “I didn’t. Wasn’t sure if you’d be okay with that,” he says.
With a deep breath, she prepares to say the words that bring her so much pain. Words that remind her of that dreadful day, the moment that everything got screwed to hell. Her heartbeat has sped up throughout the conversation, first by anger, but now that she has to admit out loud what went down four years, four months and five days ago, she feels like it’s about to jump out of her chest. A panic attack is prevented when she breathes in through her nose slowly and lets the air flow from her mouth again, repeating it once more while closing her eyes. Then she looks up at Sam and swallows back the tears. She can’t break, she never has and she won’t now. With a trembling voice, she speaks up.
“When I was possessed, I killed my dad.”
Sam’s jaw almost drops to the ground. For a moment he just stares at her, his eyes large, unable to form words. Poor, poor girl. Losing a parent is one thing, but she experienced her father’s murder like she was the one killing. How do you get over that?      And just like that, he sees Zoë in a totally different light. Her attitude makes more sense, her eagerness to hunt, her reluctance to new friendships. She lost one of the most important people in her life, no wonder she shut herself in.
Both boys watch her struggle, there’s not much they can do to make her feel better. She walks over to the window and rubs her face. The brothers can’t see the tears run down her cheek, but they know she turned away to prevent them from witnessing her sorrow. She can’t show her weakness, not to them, not to anyone.
Dean notices something about her that he recognizes in himself. The huntress is unable to express how she feels, simply because it hurts too much. It’s easier to stuff it away and sweep it under the rug, hoping that way it doesn’t have to be dealt with, that the pain will slowly fade away over time. But let’s be fair; it doesn’t.
Zoë sighs deeply and takes heart, turning back to them when the tears have stopped falling.      “We shouldn’t be talking about me, guys. Our ghost is getting more violent by the hour. We need to stop this,” she reminds them.      Sam glances at his brother and their eyes meet. He knows she’s avoiding the subject, but they have to admit there is truth in her words. Laura might be killing someone right now, especially since Sam left the Shire residence unattended. They decide to give it a rest.
“You’re right, let’s get our head back in the game. I’m gonna get the doctor to talk, I won’t take no for an answer.” He grabs his tie from the chair and folds it around his collar as he looks up at Sam, awaiting a follow up from his younger brother.      “I’ll check on the Shires and keep you guys in the loop,” Sam suggests.      “Sounds good to me. Talk to them too, fire it up a little. Maybe they know more about this. We need more intel to wrap this one up and we need it fast,” Zoë urges, checking her watch and startled to see that it’s almost five o’ clock.      “Take the car. I’ll walk, it’s just a block away,” Dean nods at the car keys on the drawer, while struggling with his tie.      “C’mere,” Zoë beckons him to edge closer and takes Dean’s tie in her hands.      Skillfully, she redoes it, her hands moving swiftly. Dean can’t help to take in her pretty face. Her makeup has run down a little, it emphasizes her frame of mind. Focused on her task at hand, she avoids his unraveling eyes.
“Should I tell them the truth?” Sam proposes.      “Not yet,” she tightens Dean’s tie and dares to look up at him. “You try to speak with the doctor first. We're sure he actually knows something, but we aren’t certain about the Shire family. We don’t want to spook them.”      “Okay, let’s go then.” Dean picks up his suit jacket and heads for the door.      Sam hesitates in the doorway, glancing over his shoulder at the young woman. “What are you gonna do?”       “I’m gonna look into Laura, see who she was close to. I can imagine the kid would’ve tried to stay out of that toxic household as much as she could, maybe she stayed over with friends a lot. Could lead to her next victim,” she explains.      “We’ll get her, Zo,” Dean assures.      “Hell, we will. Taylor was the last one killed by Laura Shire,” she states determined.
Just after she pronounces those words, the door slams and locks. Surprised, Zoë stares at the doorknob, which felt like it was just ripped from her hand. As she slowly turns around, she feels chills running down her spine, the tingling sensation way too familiar. The bathroom light starts to flicker, then the faucet of the sink turns, water splattering on the porcelain. Suddenly the TV flips on, but all broadcasts a disorted image and static noise. She exhales clouds of warm air, her breath condensed, the temperature suddenly changing. It turns ice cold in the room.
      Zoë gulps. “Oh, fuck.”
Seems like she doesn’t have to search very long to find Laura’s next victim; it’s her. Anxiously, Zoë searches the room for something iron, but then suddenly the image of the ten year old girl appears in the corner. Her blonde hair looks darkened, her pupils hazed over with white. The nightgown she was wearing the night she was killed is stained with blood. Then her eyes sink deep into their sockets, leaving gaping black holes in her small skull, before her form flickers and suddenly stands right before the huntress. Without an iron forged weapon or anything to use in the huntress’ defence, Zoë stares at the poltergeist for a brief second. This is it; she’s fucked. Even though she realizes the boys can’t hear her, she cries out one of their names at the top of her lungs.
  “SAM!!!”

6x21: Let It Bleed
Then:
Tumblr media
Dean and Cas broke up
Now:
March 15, 1937
Providence, Rhode Island
It was a dark and stormy night, and HP Lovecraft sits at his typewriter clicking away. He finishes his manuscript, and his door slowly creaks open. He pulls out a revolver and heads to the hallway, but quickly backs back into the room and locks the door. A window blasts open and a shadowy figure is there. He pleads with it --but becomes blood cannon fodder anyway.
Dean continues to dissect what could have gone differently to prevent his breakup with Cas. Sam tries being the logical friend --but there’s no explaining heartbreak, folks. Bobby comes in to tell them that when Cas popped in for his late night tet-a-tet with Dean, he stole a journal. But don’t worry, Bobby had a copy.
Upon reading it, Bobby discovers a mention of HP Lovecraft. Dean doesn’t know who that is --and you’re going to tell me the dude that knows horror movies like the back of his hand and reads Stephen King doesn’t know who the father of horror is? And I know that Dean lies to cover up things he thinks other people would look down on him for, but this would be a weird moment to do that.
Tumblr media
Anyway, Bobby thinks Lovecraft knew something about purgatory.
Meanwhile, Ben is chilling in his room reading Cthulhu graphic novels while his mom is watching the sportsball with her new beau. Demons bust in and gut the boyfriend right away. One takes after Ben. Ben gets to his room and calls Dean in a panic. He doesn’t know what’s out there and he can’t get to the shotgun in Lisa’s closet. Dean tells him to jump out his window. It’s too late --Crowley’s there and has both Ben and Lisa.
Crowley tells Dean that no harm will come to them if he backs off from the purgatory plan.
Tumblr media
Sam throws some salt on Dean’s wound and asks if Cas knows about this. “We gotta assume that he does.” OUCH.
While Bobby heads off to follow the Lovecraft lead, Dean and Sam set to finding Lisa and Ben. They summon Balthazar and tell him that Crowley is alive. He blinks and tells them Cas already informed him. They then tell him about splitting the souls in purgatory plan. Balthazar knew that too, ahem. He refuses to help find Ben and Lisa.
Sam thinks they should call Cas. “WE’RE NOT CALLING CAS.” This is a man in pain, Sam, he needs time.
Bobby, meanwhile, interviews someone who possesses a large collection of Lovecraft’s private letters. He asks about March 10, 1937 specifically, and the dude wonders if he’s working with the other guy --”trench coat, looks like Colombo, talks like Rainman.” We’re supposed to assume he’s describing Cas, but ?? okay. They’re competitors actually.
Tumblr media
The guy tells Bobby that Lovecraft had a dinner party with other blackmagic followers. They were getting together to perform a ritual to open a door into another dimension. He has --or had-- letters describing the dinner. Bobby leaves, knowing exactly how the letters disappeared.
Bobby discusses the case with Sam, revealing that one guest of the party -the maid’s son- didn’t die and has been in a mental ward since that night. He’s gong to interview the man now.
Dean, meanwhile, is lining the demons up and taking them down if they don’t answer his questions.
For Murderous Rampage Science:
Tumblr media
Sam tries to get his brother to take a break, but Dean is 100% on an emotional bender and will not stop. Sam then heads outside to pray to Cas --pleading with him to bring Ben and Lisa home.
Tumblr media
When Cas doesn’t appear, Sam walks away, dejected. Only Cas is there, invisible to Sam. AND I WANT TO TEAR OUT MY EYES.
Cas confronts Crowley. Crowley was “merely exploiting the obvious loophole.” Cas demands he tell him where they are.
Tumblr media
Crowley tells Cas the only way to save Lisa and Ben is for him to find Purgatory.
For Literal Science:
Tumblr media
Cas flaps away when Balthazar summons him. They meet in a wooded area, and Balthazar confronts Cas about his partnership with Crowley.
Tumblr media
Balthazar confirms that Cas would be the vessel to take on the souls from purgatory. He could explode from all that energy. Cas assures him he won’t (weeps). Cas demands Balthazar tell him if he’s with Cas, and Balthazar laughs but agrees.
Bobby interviews the maid’s son, and discovers Cas was already there. Bobby asks for the story. The man tells what was said at the time, but then asks, “Do you believe in monsters?” He tells Bobby that the door did open that night, and whatever came through took over his mother. Then the others died. Bobby gives his condolences to the man, and he shows Bobby a picture of his mother. Bobby recognizes her.
Dean prepares his Tortures for Demons™ when his foot drags part of the devil’s trap away. The demon immediately gets the drop on Dean, only for Cas to flap in (or turn visible) just in time to save Dean’s bacon.
Tumblr media
Dean’s...ungrateful. Surly, even! Cas apologizes about Lisa and Ben, and he’s hurt when Dean doesn’t believe that he had nothing to do with their abduction.
Tumblr media
“Dean, I do everything that you ask,” Cas pleads. “I always come when you call and I am your friend - still. Despite your lack of faith in me, and now your threats.” Cas is just asking for backup this ONE TIME. (And you know what? Knowing the crap these Winchester boys have pulled, I always felt like Cas made a good point here.) They lob soulful looks at each other. Cas promises to rescue Lisa and Ben if Dean will just PLEASE stand down and let him absorb every single monster soul EVER it’s NOT A BIG DEAL. This is entirely the wrong tactic, and Dean tells Cas to go back to Crowley and he’ll save Lisa and Ben on his own.
Tumblr media
Cas flaps away. Soulfully.
Bobby arrives at Eleanor-the-Dragon’s door. She’s at a little cabin in the middle of nowhere - one of her safe houses. He confronts her with the old photo and demands to know her agenda. “You know, we’re not all alike,” she retorts. She reacts similarly poorly to Bobby complaining about sleeping with her without knowing she was a monster. BOBBY! WASH YOUR MOUTH OUT RIGHT NOW. She tells him that the world’s lucky that she’s who popped through the portal. The professor is on Team Earth. Bobby begs to know the secret of the portal so that he can protect her from Cas.
Balthazar flaps in on Sam. He’s joining Team Winchester because he’s terribly concerned about Cas’s life choices. He flies them close to Crowley’s angel-warded lockup, and Dean and Sam swoop in to save Lisa and Ben.
Tumblr media
They split up inside the warehouse - always a sensible plan. Sadly, Sam “Soft Noggin” Winchester gets knocked out IMMEDIATELY. Sam plz. Dean bursts into Lisa and Ben’s prison like a little angry blur of knives and in short order, he’s killed all the demons standing guard. They start to flee, when Lisa holds Ben at knifepoint, her eyes flashing black.
Tumblr media
The demon goes all in on the mental torture, telling Ben that Dean’s his real father (JK!) and that Dean is Lisa’s WORST EVER MISTAKE. While Dean catalogues the internal damage, he and Lisa fight. He sheathes the demon blade and starts an exorcism, and I look directly at the camera. Demon Lisa’s got another trick up her sleeve. While the exorcism progresses, the demon grabs a tool and jabs it into Lisa’s gut. Then, she gives Dean a choice: exorcise her and Lisa bleeds out or let Lisa remain animate (but a demon puppet). Wrenchingly, Dean finishes the exorcism.
He makes sure Ben’s armed with a salt-round shotgun and then they head out of the factory. Ben shoots his first demon while Dean shouts at him to “pull it together” and I...just…….
Guys.
I’m just going to box these feelings up and stuff them in my Dean Winchester is a Sad Child attic, while humming Cat’s in the Cradle to myself.
They find Sam and head for a hospital, Dean muttering the whole time that she’s FINE Lisa is JUST FINE she is FINE. Cut to the hospital where Lisa is NOT FINE, but also is not dead! Yet!
Cas flaps in.
Tumblr media
Dean refuses his apology. REFUSES IT. But Cas didn’t come to apologize. Okay, he DID, but he primarily came to heal Lisa miraculously. Dean looks up at him like he completely forgot that Cas can heal.
For Healing Cas Science:
Tumblr media
In Jensen Ackles your face is a menace news, Dean displays grief, joy, relief, anger, betrayal, sad cat memes, and more in like less than five seconds of screen time. He thanks Cas for healing Lisa. “I wish this changed anything.” Regrets lie thickly between them. Dean asks for one more favor. He wants himself erased from Lisa and Ben’s memories for good.
When Lisa wakes, Ben explains that they were in a car crash. Dean enters, and introduces himself as the guy who hit them. GAH. The shitty things these characters do!!! Excuse me while I hurl knives at the wall for a solid thirty minutes!
Tumblr media
“I lost control for a minute,” Dean says, not AT ALL metaphorically about their time together. “And I just want to say that I’m sorry.” He heads out, leaving the Braedens entirely unprotected from future supernatural threats and missing a substantial chunk of their lives. Hope Cas also cleaned up Matt’s body??? And the busted door??? (Side note: does anyone else have weird squid emotions thinking about Cas willfully blanking their memories when his own memories have been tampered with time and time again? I SURE DON’T!)
Dean meets judgmental Sam back at the Impala. Sam, I see your judgment, and I judge thee valid. Dean talks about his emotions in an open and healt----hahaha nope. Dean tells Sam that if he ever mentions the Braedens to him then he’ll break Sam’s nose. He punctuates that with mournful, red-rimmed eyes which definitely deal at least 1.5X damage against Sam’s puppy eyes. They drive off into the sad music.
Elsewhere, Eleanor Visyak leaves her cabin, only to encounter Cas behind her. Cas flaps her away. CAAAAAAAAS!
You QUOTE Miette??!!

If you like my work & wanna support me: a coffee would be highly appreciated ❤
You should all be happy right now. Everything you had ever wanted was right in front of you. Dean, the best boyfriend you could have ever imagined. Sam, who was like a big brother to you. Cas, the awkward friend you had never wanted but also somehow craved. Last but not least, Jack, who you would die for in a heartbeat. Being hunters had never been easy. The supernatural beings that lived in the dark corners always haunting you but you learned to fight them. They were scared of your badass team, not the other way round. So why, why the hell did Chuck have to make life so much harder for you? A few years ago, you all got together to fight Amara only to find out now that he had everything planned out for you guys. How fucked up could one being be? And how fucked up was it that this being was the God out of everyone?
“This is useless!” you breathed out.
The entire team was seated in the library, desperate to find something, anything slightly helpful. This was how your days looked like if you did not have a case. Just sitting around the big ass table, reading lore & hoping you would find a clue how to defeat God. Defeat God...was that even possible? Right now, you were not so sure but you could not stop now. Not after everything you had been through. This should be easy, right?
“(Y/N)…“ Sam sighed. “We´ve been through this, haven´t we?“ he tried reasoning.
“Well, apparently this entire thing doesn´t help one bit. I don´t understand how you guys can just sit there & do the same shit over & over again. We´re fucked, okay? The sooner we realize this, the better.“ you started growing frustrated.
“Sweetheart…” Dean started speaking up.
“No, Dean! I´m tired. Clearly, reading books for days is not the answer. We need to start thinking outta the box, y´know?” you were hinting your idea but not daring to speak it out loud. They would kill you, for sure. Or ask if you were insane. How could you not in this situation.
“Out of the box...Means what exactly?” Dean looked at you in confusion, obviously not knowing what you were truly saying.
“Look, (Y/N), we have three hunters, a nephilim who is stronger than everything I´ve ever seen & an angel.” this was Cas´ voice that made you look up to him.
“We can do this together, (Y/N), I´m sure!” the confidence in Jack´s voice made you smile slightly. He sure was a little naive but he just wanted to keep the team positive which was cute, really.
“You know what, guys? I need a little break. You do, too. Let´s just stop for today, clear our heads & start again tomorrow. Now, how does that sound?” you faked a smile, unaware to the others. You had become quite trained in faking emotions. That came with being a hunter, you guessed.
The others nodded at you, closed their books & made their way out of the library.
It was 10 pm when you checked the time. As far as you could tell, the entire bunker was asleep, which was good considering the thing you were about to do. Looking over your shoulder, you saw Dean sleeping soundly. Ever since the two of you had started sleeping in one bed, the nightmares were not as frequent anymore. You silently made your way out of your shared room, only taking your phone with you. A few hours prior, you had already prepared an outfit & placed it in the garage. This way, you would not wake anybody. Still, while walking down the halls, you tried to be as quiet as possible, making sure nobody was up & wandering in the bunker. Arriving at the garage, you let out a breath you did not know you were holding. You started thinking now. Was this really the right decision? Everyone else would have said that you were about to commit suicide. On the other hand, you did not really have a choice. If you did not do this, you would die anyway. There was nothing left to lose. Stripping out of your oversized t-shirt you once stole from Dean, you imagined to conversation you were about to have. Then you stopped for a second. What if he decided not to show up at all? He was not able to track you guys, thanks to Cas who burned some sort of marks into your ribs. Throwing on your outfit, you knew you had to give it a try. Just telling him your coordinates, in a prayer, of course. He had to show up. Before the overthinking got the best of you, you tucked your phone in one of your pockets & made your way outside in the chilly air. Due to the adrenaline you felt, you could barely feel the coldness hitting your skin.
After a while of walking, a park bench came into your view. Right at a crossroad. You had never been there but that was what you wanted to achieve. Being as far away from your family as possible. There was not a single car which somehow comforted & scared you at the same time. Seating yourself onto one side of the bench, you fiddled with your hands in your lap. A few deep breaths steadied you & after a couple of minutes, you were sure that you were ready. It was now or never.
“Um...hi, God...Chuck, I mean. Here´s (Y/N), you know, the one who´s with the Winchesters & stuff. I know you can hear me & you´re probably asking yourself why the hell I decided to pray to you. Funny enough, I´m sorta lost. We are, actually. I know you could kill me if I give you my location now but honestly, I don´t really care right now. Look, I just wanna talk, okay? I´m alone here, it´s just me & I hope you are open to talk to me here, Collar Road 16. I´ll be here until the sun starts to rise. If you don´t show up, okay, that´s fine but I would really appreciate it if you decide to come. I´ll be here.” your voice was low, scared that someone would hear you even though you were completely alone. Checking your phone, you had no new notifications. Perfect, you managed to sneak out. It was Chuck´s turn now. The sunrise was hours away so you hoped he would come & talk to you (& not kill you, that would be nice).
Seconds turned into minutes & minutes into hours. You started losing hope. How dumb were you to think God wanted to talk to you when you were literally trying to find a way to kill him?
“Kinda dangerous for you to be here alone, without your boyfriend to protect you, don´t you think?” Chuck´s voice startled you & you looked at him in surprise. Not wanting him to sense your nervousness, you cleared your throat & straightened your posture.
“I can handle myself, thanks for your concern.” smirking at him, his eyes bored into you which sent a shiver down your spine. You felt so uncomfortable under his presence that you almost forgot the reason you two were here.
“Attitude, I see.” he chuckled.
“You were busy, huh? Letting me wait for so long.”
“Actually, no. Just wanted to test your patience.” Chuck had so much fun & your anger started to rise. You knew though, that one wrong word could have you killed so you took a deep breath.
“I wanna talk to you.” you stated the obvious.
“I figured that much. So? Go ahead.” Chuck turned so his body was facing you, signaling you that he was paying attention to what you wanted to get off your chest.
“I´m pretty sure you know about our little...plan to, well, you know...stop you?” the last part came more out as a question, not wanting to cross any lines. He was God after all. He raised his eyebrows, motioning for you to continue.
“I´m not gonna lie, we didn´t find shit, okay? Like, we´re stuck. And I hate the fact that we´re at a point where almost everyone thinks the only solution is to fight each other. Yeah, I don´t agree with everything you did but that doesn´t mean that I´d like to kill you. You´re God, after all, you created this beautiful place which does have flaws, I´m not gonna deny that.” Chuck let out a laugh at that & you kept going.
“I´m tired of keeping this fight up. Hunting the supernatural, I´m fine with, I can deal with that but fighting against you? That´s something I really don´t wanna do.” you rambled. Even tears started forming, you did not want to cry in front of him but you could not hold back any longer.
“Who knows you´re here, talking to me?” he completely ignored everything you just said & earned a confused look from you.
“Really? That´s what matters? Nobody, okay? I didnt tell anyone because I knew they would try to stop me somehow. Could you, like, give me any reaction to what I told you?” the frustration was audible & the tears now were forming because of his ignorance.
“(Y/N).” he started. “I hope you know that, out of all of them, I like you the most. That´s why I came here, that´s why I let you talk. Would Sam or Dean sit here, I´d kill them, well, obviously making it look like an accident, I´m not dumb. You´re special, (Y/N), you should be grateful you´re still alive. I´ll give you a choice. Either, you start working with me & you´ll see why I act that way or...you´re going back to your boys & we´re officially at war. Just know, if you walk away now, I won´t be as kind. Your decision, darling.” he shot you a smile but stopped when he saw the rage inside your eyes. He thought you would join him, he really did. You knew your answer, though.
“Fuck. You. You. Asshole.” your voice sounded monotone. You could not look at him anymore, all you did was getting up & running away as fast as possible, scared that he might follow you. Obviously, he did not. You made your choice & even though he was mad at you, he knew preparing for the fight was a better idea.
While you were running, the tears streamed down your face. Why were you so upset with Chuck´s answer? It was not like you did not know him & his intentions. You just truly thought you could change him. The sun had already started rising & you just hoped you were not too late. You were not in the mood to come up with a lie when someone of the guys asked you where you were. Forgetting you should enter through the garage because it was way more quiet, you opened the main door, flinching when it squeaked. But before you could even process that, you could hear a rather mad voice from downstairs.
“Look who decided to show up.” Dean sounded so cold, you could barely recognize his voice. Looking down, you saw Sam, Dean, Cas & Jack all seated around the big table in the main room. Shit, you were gone too long. Of course, your day could get worse, amazing.
“Guys, I can explain, I swear.” honestly, you just wanted to win time to think of a lie to tell them.
“Cut the crap, (Y/N)!” Dean almost screamed. “Get down. Now.” his voice was demanding. To be honest, you were never scared of Dean but right now, you could feel yourself shaking.
“Dean, calm down, okay? Let´s talk about it like matures.” Sam always made sure you felt comfortable & right now, he could tell you were frightened.
“Calm down?! Sure, everyone would be completely calm if their girlfriend sneaks out at night & screws another man.”
“Dean? Are you saying I´m cheating on you? Are you serious? After everything you still don´t trust me?” you were full on sobbing, trying to keep yourself together but failing miserably.
“I wish I could say I trust you but it makes sense, really. You being so distant lately & now, sneaking out in the middle of the night, hoping none of us realizes. You´ve got to be a bit smarter, though.” Dean was hurting but he did not dare to show it, wanting you to feel bad.
“(Y/N)? You do owe us an explanation.” Cas´ voice was calm & made you feel a bit more at ease.
“Maybe she should just go back to whoever she was fucking, that´s better for all of us.” Dean said these hurtful words without even looking at you. He hated seeing you break down like that. You were taken aback. Dean, your Dean, wanted you to leave. This was all a big misunderstanding. As much as you hated it, you knew you had to clear things up. If you were about to leave, then at least with making sure Dean knew you were not cheating on him.
“Please...let me explain, please.” pleading, you looked over to Jack but he would not meet your gaze. Your eyes wandered off to Sam´s & he was the most understanding in this situation which you were thankful for.
“Sit down, yeah?” Sam pulled a chair out for you to sit. The others took the chairs opposite of you so you were facing them all. Well, not all, Dean´s eyes were glued to the floor & you could not even be mad at him. You were aware of his trust issues, of course.
“I´ve been distant because we were continuing a work that brought us nowhere. I tried figuring out what we could do to...to keep this upcoming fight away. I knew the only way was to talk to…um, you know, to talk to God.” that made Dean snap his eyes towards you. No, you did not. You looked into his eyes, seeing the disappointment & that hurt you like crazy.
“Um, anyway, I waited until you guys were asleep to go out & talk to him. Obviously far, far away from the bunker, I didn´t wanna bring you guys in danger.” while you said that you made sure to look rigt at Dean so he knew you were mainly talking about him.
“He showed up after I prayed to him. We talked, well, more like I tried to convince him to stop this stupid fight. All he said was that I could join him & work with him or I go back to you guys & the next time he sees us...he´ll kill me, us. Then I started running back home, he didn´t follow me if you´re concerned about that.” you hated how your voice shook trough your words. You were met with a silence but not a bad silence, the faces of Sam, Cas & Jack were full of relief. Mainly because you were alright but also because they knew you just wanted to help. Dean´s expression, on the other hand, you could not quite read.
“We´ll leave you two alone for now.” & with that Sam got up & rubbed your back. He motioned for Cas & Jack to follow him. Now, you were left with Dean only. Not knowing what to do, you decided to speak up.
“I´m sorry, De-.” but you were cut off by his voice, now much softer as earlier.
“He could´ve killed you, sweetheart. He could´ve killed you & I wouldn´t even have had a chance to say goodbye. The thought of losing you scares the shit out of me, okay?” Dean´s eyes were glistening & you felt bad that you were the reason why he felt that way.
“I´m so so sorry. I shouldn´t have done this, I know. I just...I didn´t know another way. I thought we had a chance if I go talk to him. I was wrong & I´m sorry I scared you. And I´m even more sorry that you thought I´d be cheating on you. I love you, Dean. Only you. Forever, I promise.” a few tears rolled down your cheeks & Dean got up, walked over to you & took you in for a long hug. You cried into his shirt, just glad he was with you.
“I know why you did it, I do. You always want to make it easier for us & I appreciate it. Just, next time you have such an idea, promise me you tell us, me at least. Then we can work something out, together, something way safer, okay? Just promise me.” he whispered into your ear, his words carefully chosen, wanting to make sure you knew how much he felt for you.
“I promise, Dean.” you looked up at him only to find his eyes already focused on you.
“I love you, (Y/N).” & with that, he pulled you in for a kiss that showed you how much he cared for you. Maybe you could not convince God but you had the best people & you were sure you would figure something out sooner or later.

The police officer led you into the station and ordered you to sit in the hard metal chair next to his desk. The man sat down across from you, informing you that he was going to call your father as he picked up the phone.
You nodded absentmindedly, not really listening to what the cop was saying- you already knew what was going to happen.
You swallowed dryly, knowing that you had screwed up. You gripped the chair tightly, your nails digging into the cushion, as you strained to hear the conversation.
Maybe, just maybe Dean would be the one to pick up.
“Hello, is this Mr. Winchester?” The officer said as someone picked up the phone.
“Yes, can I help you?” John responded impatiently.
Your heart dropped immediately recognizing your father’s impatient and irritated tone.
“Yes,” The officer glanced over at you as he explained, “I’m calling about an issue concerning your daughter, Y/N, she’s gotten herself in some trouble. We’ve decided to let her off with a warning, but we still need you to come down to the station,”
Your grip on the chair tightened as you waited to hear your father’s response.
Nothing.
“Sir?” The officer asked.
“I’ll be there in a few minutes,” John said coldly.
You winced, you could already tell, he was furious.
“Thank you, sir-" Click. John hung up. The officer pulled the phone back, a little surprised that the man had just hung up on him like that. He shook it off and turned back to you, “Your father will be here soon,”
You nodded silently, mentally cursing yourself for getting caught.
It was stupid.
All you had been trying to do was get your little brother Dean a gift for his birthday.
A stupid car magazine and a candy bar.
A lame excuse for a present, it wasn’t even a good gift- you had no clue what normal 9 year old boys liked to do for fun, but it didn’t matter because neither did Dean.
It was a dumb thing to do, and you knew that Dean wasn’t expecting anything, but you had felt bad. This year, John hadn’t even mentioned Dean’s birthday- he must’ve of forgotten. When the cashier saw you walk out of the store with a candy bar sticking out of your back pocket and a copy of Car and Driver Magazine stuffed not-so-discreetly under your t-shirt, he yelled for you to stop. You got scared and you ran, so he called the cops.
It wasn’t like you hadn’t stolen anything before, but this time had been different.
The things you usually stole were always necessary. Just a few pieces of bread or an apple or two so you and your brothers could get by while your father was on a hunt.
You looked up at the sound of the door swinging open. Your father strode in and you immediately dropped your eyes back to the floor, not daring to look at him. He nodded emotionlessly to the officer a a greeting, sitting himself into the seat next to you.
“I’m afraid I caught your daughter stealing from the market on the corner earlier today,”
John stayed silent as the officer explained.
“I’ve spoke to her, and we both think a warning is sufficient enough-”
“What did she steal?” John questioned, interrupting the officer.
“A candy bar and and a magazine,” the man responded, seemly a little intimidated by John.
You didn’t look up, but you could feel your father’s angry glare burning into your back, “So, it’s just a warning- does that mean I can take her home now?” John asked, already standing up.
“Umm-“ The officer’s hesitation received an intimidating stare from John. The officer shifted uncomfortably, loosening his collar, “Uh, Y-yes, you’re both free to go. Just no more warnings,”
You nodded, but you weren’t really listening to what the man was saying. You were trying to prepare yourself for the punishment you were going to face when you got back to the motel room.
John put his hand on your shoulder, guiding you out the door and into the Impala. He didn’t say anything on the ride back to the motel. He stared straight ahead, his knuckles turning white as he harshly gripped his steering wheel. He skidded into the parking lot and turned the Impala off. He opened the door, not even glancing your way, “Get inside,” he ordered.
You did as you were told, following him into the dirty motel room. Sam sat quietly coloring while Dean stood at the little table pouring cereal into two bowls he had set out for him and his little brother.
“Dad!” Sam called, a smile across his face.
John didn’t even glance towards him, he stared down at Dean sternly, “Take your brother and leave. Y/N and I are going to have a talk,”
Dean gave you a concerned look, “Dad, I just make me and Sammy dinner-” It was a flimsy excuse, but he tried to help you.
“I said get out.” John repeated, more force behind his words this time.
“Y-Yes sir,” Dean nodded, quickly dragging Sam outside with him.
The second the door shut, John turned, glaring down at you, “You interrupted my hunt,” he said coldly.
You opened your mouth, trying to find anything to say to calm your father down.
“You could’ve been arrested- you could’ve gotten me arrested,” he barked, taking a step towards you. “All for a fucking candy bar and a dumb magazine?” He fumed. You winced when he took another step towards you.
You stumble over your words, “I was... I just wanted to-“ John smacked his hand across your cheek. You stopped mid-sentence, feeling the hot sting on your face. You winced, your hand immediately reaching to the spot he hit.
“Do you really think I care?” He snarled and you took a step back, refusing to let the tears welling in your eyes fall.
You didn’t respond- afraid that if you said anything you’d only end up saying something that would make it worse for you.
He lunged forward, shoving you backwards, hard. You stumbled back, your hands flailing around as they tried to find something to stop your fall. You fell onto the ground, smacking your head on the dusty couch on the way down.
“I asked you a question!” John roared. You held your breath, trying to forget about the splitting pain in your head as you looked up at your father towering above you.
“No,” you shook your head, “No-No Sir,” you quickly corrected. You pulled your hand away from your throbbing temple, grimacing when you saw blood.
Your father didn’t seem to care, “If you ever get caught doing anything like that again, you’re out,” he said, his glare never faltering.
“I’m out?” You asked cautiously, still careful to not upset him.
“Out of the family,” he said bluntly, “I’ll take Sam and Dean and leave you wherever you stand,”
You knew your father could be harsh, but this was a whole other level. You wanted to scream at him and hit him back, but you found yourself nodding and replying, “Yes Sir,” in a hallow voice.
He ordered you to clean yourself up, muttering something about going to get a drink before he left the room and your brothers ran back inside.
You turned away, trying to hide the cut on your head and the red handprint across your cheek.
“Y/N/N, Com’ere,” Dean said, taking a few steps towards you.
You didn’t face him. You didn’t want to worry him, you were fine. Dean grabbed your shoulder, forcing you to face him.
His eyes filled with pity for you as he looked at your wounds, “Sammy, get a washcloth and some water,” Dean told him as he continued inspecting your face.
You watched him, the worry and anger etched into his small face. He was only nine years old, but he was aged well beyond his years, “Dean, it’s not that bad,” you pushed his hand away, but he ignored your protests and started wiping away some of the blood with the washcloth Sam had retrieved.
“What happened?” Sam asked curiously, looking up at you with wide eyes.
“Nothing Sammy,” you and Dean said in unison.
“But-“
“Go to bed Sammy, I need to talk to Y/N/N,” Dean ordered.
The two of you sat in silence for a few moments as dean continued to work on your face. He wiped across one of the cuts on your face, causing you to wince.
“Sorry,” Dean apologized as he kept working.
You shook your head, laughing a little to yourself, “You know, I’m the big sister. I’m supposed to be taking care of you and Sammy, not the other way around,”
“You take care of us enough,” Dean assured, “We’ve gotta be ther for you too,” the room fell back into silence besides Sam’s soft snoring. “What’s Dad mad about this time?” Dean said quietly after a few moments.
You sighed as Dean finished bandaging the last cut on your face, “I screwed up... I almost got arrested,”
Dean furrowed his brows, “What’d you do? Did you steal something? I thought we had enough food-”
“We do. I just,” you sighed, “I was trying to get you a birthday present. I mean, dad hadn’t said anything about it all day so I just figured he forgot. It was just a car magazine and a candy bar, but wanted to at least try to make it a little special for you,”
Guilt washed over Dean’s face, “Y/N, I didn’t need anything I-”
“Dean, I know,” you said giving him a soft smile, “And this isn’t your fault, it’s mine for getting caught and it’s dad’s for being such an asshole,”
Deans eyes widened at the word, not used to hearing you speak poorly about your father.
You sighed bringing your hand up to cup his face, “Dont worry Dean, one day I’ll get us out of here. Me, you, and Sammy can get our own place that isn’t some nasty motel and we can do whatever we want. No hunts, no danger, no drunk dad, just us. And we can be happy,”
Dean nodded, a smile spreading across his face at the thought.
“Happy Birthday Dean,” you whispered pulling your younger brother into a tight hug.
“Thanks Y/N,” he said, wrapping his arms around your neck and laying his head down on your shoulder.
