The Dark Side of Ghostface
AKA- Me analyzing Ghostface’s character after reading his tome in class 🤭🤭🤭
Spoiler Warning Ahead- Ghostface’s Archives
I’m not going to lie, I’m kind of a perfectionist. I’ve spent a while trying to analyze Ghostface and write him as closest to canon as possible lmfao- and this isn’t me trying to tell people how to write Ghostface..you can write him however you want, it’s just my interpretation…so yeah- Let me know if there’s anything I missed!
I- Daddy Issues + Origin
The only thing known about Danny’s family is his Father, who was also a murderer who loved to share horror stories, just like him.
His father was hard on him, told him terrifying stories of his kills, and was “as tough as nails” - and when your father is a serial killer, a man who’s already prone to lots of violence, you can guess the things he’s done to him
Still, Danny respected his father, but he did kill him, and his father was his first “design” - his first kill - and Danny felt ashamed of the way he killed him.
And for the nature v nurture debate for Danny, I guess we have an answer…both. Not only did he get his Homicidal tendencies from genetics, but his father literally taught him to kill too
Danny’s father affects his perspective greatly, especially how he views life and humanity, saying that humans are “intrinsic killers”
II- The Design + How Danny views murder
It’s easy to tell that Danny is a narcissist and a psychopath, I mean, he literally writes about his murders in the paper
He sees his murders as a story, a design, art, something to keep the suburban community aka the majority and the ordinary at unrest. He sees it as a favor, help keeping their lives interesting by scaring the shit out of them
Danny goes after the ordinary, someone most people can relate to, and someone who doesn’t deserve to die, because it makes it just the more terrifying
He follows his victims routines, plans out the murder in his head, pictures the kill, and the headlines he’ll write about it and then executes it
III- Personality + Pet Peeves
Danny is a perfectionist, but he also seems a little more restrained compared to the other dbd killers. He stalks his prey, holds back and plans his kill, waiting for the right moment…for the most part.
His “normal” personality- Jed is a charming and kind, but non-threatening presence and he knows he has to seem like that to avoid suspicion, duh, and easily manipulate people, so they’ll just be like “oh good old Jed, he wouldn’t hurt a fly” bullshit
But what really pisses Danny off when people don’t fear Ghostface, when they view him as an “urban legend” - OR when ordinary people or losers try to act like killers, like him (EX: “The three stooges” who talked about killing and had the pictures of killers up on the wall…killers that Danny admired and deemed “legends” and he went fucking crazy, stabbing one of the men in the face so many times that he was unrecognizable)
Danny wants people to take what he does seriously, he is aware of the impact of his actions, and what he’s doing, so if and when he finds out someone is laughing about it? Laughing at him? He gets pissed
So there are certain triggers that can make Danny snap, just like anyone else. But when he snaps…he becomes very violent, much more violent than usual
Because Danny takes his designs seriously, does this mean he’s a serious person? Not at all. He’s cruel, and taunts the men he kills in the arcade, and also the man he killed in the hardware store
Tumblr media Tumblr media
He’s having a very fun time, as you can see here, humming to himself and doing his little taunting wave before he kills the poor man working at the register (RIP Cashier)
IV- Killing + Entity’s Favorite
Most of, if not all the things Danny does have to do with his design. He’s either writing, searching for his next victim, stalking his next victim, or killing
There’s not a lot of Danny’s life that doesn’t have to do with murder, especially since he was raised to be a killer
Which is why when he was a perfect candidate to be taken by The Entity. While some other killers have been brainwashed or turned into monsters, Danny’s mental state doesn’t change in the slightest, when you read the quotes of his add ons
In fact, he enjoys The Entity’s dimension. It’s a place where he can murder and stalk and do as he pleases, and doesn’t have to worry about getting caught or pretending to be normal. He can just be his murderous psycho self.

I've said it before but a lot of DBD's newer killers suffer heavily not only from bad lore but from the common mistake in over-explaining a slasher. While fleshing them out is okay and even humanising them, to an extent, can both add a human element and make them more frightening because if that human element it's generally agreed upon that the more streamlined a killer's motivation and backstory the better. Freddy Krueger was an evil child-killing psychopath so evil in life he returned as a vengeful revenant in death...until he was the bastard son of a hundred maniacs who owes his allegiance to dream demons. Michael Myers is the embodiment of pure evil, devoid of any semblance of life behind his cold, black eyes...oh and also he's secretly controlled by a thorn cult who must sacrifice an entire bloodline for... Reasons.
I went and actually timed how long it took to scroll through the lore of DBD's worst offenders, the Artist and the Skull Merchant. Artist took 8.35 seconds and Skull Merchant took 10.5 seconds, and this is solely a critique of how overdone their lore is, that's not getting into how fucking BAD it is.
For the record, most of the licensed killers are all around sub 5 seconds and would be even shorter considering their lore tabs focus more on how they got to the entity's realm and what their thoughts and motivations are now that they're in it.
Then you go and look at some of DBD's earliest killers like the Trapper, Nurse, Wraith and Doctor, all of whom have masterfully short and sweet lore tabs that tell you who they were and what they did to end up on the entity's realm, all of whom quite frankly got retroactively worse written when they introduced the archives

Podcast Rec Masterpost
I've been asked a couple times for podcast recommendations so I thought I'd post a compilation of some shows and a bit of info about them. Most shows I talk about are tagged below (I ran out of tags) so you can look through fan content as well if you're not one to care about spoilers. My asks are still open for personalized recs if you send me some others that you've listened to just because I love you, yes that's right! You. The person reading this right now!
Here goes!
Dungeons And Daddies *not a BDSM podcast
This show is a dnd actual play podcast. The first season is about four dads from our world lost in the Forgotten Realms in search of their lost sons. It’s a comedy but as with all comedies, you will cry by the end of it. It's super easy to get into with great chemistry between all the cast players and the dm, no prior knowledge of dnd is necessary. They do invoke slight horror sometimes so do keep an eye out for content warnings. Season 1 has 68.5 episodes along with bonus content and a mini campaign in between seasons 1 and 2. Season 2 is currently ongoing. Transcripts available.
The Bright Sessions
This is a science fiction podcast. The premise is a collection of clinical recordings of superpowered people's therapy sessions. The plot gets more interesting and convoluted as you get further in. Incredible voice acting filled with emotion. Does have some heavier discussions so be on the lookout for content warnings. It has 7 seasons (the last two are technically not part of the first five seasons' plot) and is completed. Transcripts available.
Hello From the Hallowoods
A post-apocalyptic fiction podcast. A beautifully written and preformed podcast that explores identity, religion, and other themes in vignettes throughout this haunted world narrated by an omniscient being. Some heavier topics are included so check the content warning before each episode. Seasons 1 and 2 are completed and season 3 will be done soon. Transcripts available.
The Magnus Archives
A horror fiction podcast. A well written chronological story told through anthology which seem to be tape recordings from a paranormal investigation institute. Incredible writing and actors that really bring it to life. This is horror so make sure to check the content warnings. The show is completed at 5 seasons. Transcripts available.
Neighbourly
Another horror fiction podcast! An interesting look into all the houses on Little Street and their peculiarities. Some more peculiar than others. The podcast is absolutely delightful with a horribly fun narrator. I would suggest checking the content warnings as some episodes are more intense than others. The show has 2 completed seasons. Transcripts available.
The Fall of the House of Sunshine
A musical mystery fiction podcast. The first season is about an investigation on the murder of a beloved host of a children's tooth-themed show. That's all I can say without spoilers. There are 3 incredible seasons along with short stories in between each season. Transcripts available until halfway through season 2.
Welcome to Nightvale
Possibly the most well known science fiction podcast, it really speaks for itself but I'll do my spiel anyways. Recorded as snippets of a daily radio broadcast, the show details the weird goings on in this strange desert town of Nightvale. Narrated almost completely by the radio host's smooth voice. It's ongoing and is currently sitting at 233 episodes. Transcripts available.
The Two Princes
A fictional queer romance podcast. It takes place in that special part of fiction that always starts with "once upon a time," it feels like a story book almost. The show is based around two boys meeting in the woods. Spoiler alert: they fall in love. It's just a cute feel good show. The podcast is complete at 3 seasons. Spotify auto-generated transcripts available.
What's the Frequency?
A self described psychedelic noir podcast. It's an absolute blast even if it is a bit hard to follow. Takes place in the 1940s in LA when all radio broadcasts were turned to static. You kind of just have to go with it until you get to the end. Completed at 12 episodes. Transcripts available.
Story Break
A writer's room podcast. The basic concept behind Story Break is 3 Hollywood writers in a room together take a prompt and try to make a story for it in an hour. There are many laughs in this podcast and just all around good humor and vibes. The show is complete at 169 episodes plus two full movie scripts. No transcript.
Who Killed Avril Lavigne
A science fiction podcast. It's about a time traveling pop punk loser and that's all you need to know. It's a podmusical so you'll be getting great nostalgic pop punk type songs along with crying from laughing so hard. Completed at 8 episodes. No transcript.
The Behemoth
A fiction podcast. Based around an unexplainable creature emerging from the ocean and how the world, and one girl in particular, deal with this phenomenon. It is pretty short with the longest episode being about 12 minutes. Completed at 20 episodes. No transcript.
Rude Tales of Magic
A dnd actual play podcast. It is mainly focused on the actual roleplay and story telling as opposed to the actual play. A handful of college students from Polaris University fuck the world up by completing a hazing ritual which in this case is a supposedly demon summoning. Obviously now they need to fix the world. Currently 64 episodes and ongoing. No transcript.
Midnight Burger
A very well written fiction podcast. It’s about a time/space traveling diner where the employees try to help solve a problem every place they land. Think Doctor Who adjacent vibes but with more drama. There is an overarching plot that comes together so look out for that. It has incredible characters that are really nicely fleshed out. You’ll somehow like and hate all of them as much as possible in the best way. Currently has 29 episodes of the main feed and a 9 episode mini-series. Transcript available.
Monstrous Agonies
A fiction podcast. It’s an radio advice segment on a station for “liminal Britain” aka the monstrous world to put it plainly. It’s really chill and comforting. There’s very good advice there and the intermittent ad reads will have you giggling to yourself. Episodes are on the shorter side, averaging about 15 minutes each. It does have some heavier discussions so make sure to check the content warnings. The show is completed at 111 episodes through 3 seasons. Transcripts available.
Desert Skies
A fiction podcast. The voice acting in this one is incredible, it’s the same person the whole time. The show as a whole is also just super well done. The premise is that when you die you show up on a highway and get to this astral pit stop. I’m not going to spoil it anymore you just have to experience it. There is an additional show, Desert Skies FM that's a buddy to this one. I recommend listening to both. Season 1 was completed at 12 episodes. Transcripts available.
Wooden Overcoats
A sitcom dramedy podcast. The show is about two siblings that run a funeral home on an island. It used to be the only one, it isn’t anymore. It has a wacky cast of characters and even wackier plot points. The dialogue can be a little hard to get used to at the beginning but once you get into it it flows easily. The show is completed at 4 seasons. Transcripts available.
Greater Boston
An audio drama podcast. It's set in Boston if you couldn't tell from the title and starts with the death of a man on a rollercoaster. It blends real life with some subtle (and at times not-so-subtle) fantasy elements. It's currently at 4 completed seasons. Transcript available.
Gay Future
A science fiction podcast. In a world where everyone is gay in the future we focus on this one straight kid. Following his journey to destroy the government who are making everyone gay. This is a satire by the way. 1 season completed at 6 episodes. No transcripts.
Death by Dying
A dark comedy podcast. The show follows an obituary writer while he does things that are totally under the jurisdiction of his job. A well written and preformed show. There are a lot of laughs and obviously some heartbreaks as well. Currently 1 completed season with season 2 sitting at 2 episodes for a bit now. Transcript available.
Not Another D&D Podcast
An actual play dnd podcast. This one's more mainstream than my other podcasts so I don't talk about it as much but that doesn't mean it's not incredible. The first campaign is about 3 adventurers off to save the world. Obviously. It can be a bit slow in the beginning but anything past the second half of the first season is incredible. There's humor, drama, love, and much more. The DM is also just incredible. 1 completed season, a couple mini campaigns, and the second season is currently at 43 episodes. No transcripts.
Forgive Me!
A fiction podcast. It starts based around vignettes of confessionals in this small town taken by a new father in the local church. An overarching plot is present but it's generally a feel good, sweet and simple show. They have 2 complete seasons with season 3 currently at 9 episodes. Transcripts available.
Real Housewives of D&D
An actual play dnd podcast. This show is based around the concept of a "Real Housewives..." type show but you don't need to know anything about those to listen to this. It's about 4 reality TV stars thrown into a magical fantasy world with no knowledge of how to get home. There's drama, excitement, danger, and lots more. The first season was just completed at 16 episodes. Transcripts available.
The Silt Verses
A horror fiction podcast. Two people who worship a banned god travel together up a river in a pilgrimage. There is incredible worldbuilding in this show along with acting and sound design. This is horror and a very good one at that so make sure you check content warnings. Season 1 and 2 are completed and season 3 is at 2 episodes so far. Transcripts available.
The Land Whale Murders
A comedy fiction podcast. It takes place in the year 1899 and is about a pair of friends? maybe not, that metaphorically explore the world they're living in. It is a commentary on the world we live in and the problems in it through a hilarious and wacky cast. There are currently 17 episodes between both seasons 1 and 2. Transcripts available.
Elaine's Cooking for the Soul
A post-apocalyptic cooking podcast. The show is about a dentist who makes her way through the fallout of an apocalypse while also making a cooking podcast. It does have depictions of violence, war, and dentistry so check out the content warnings. There are 2 completed seasons. No transcripts.
Fawx and Stallion
A mystery podcast. If you hate Sherlock Holmes you'll love this podcast. Also if you love Sherlock Holmes you'll love this podcast. It's based around the detectives who live across the street from Holmes at 224B Baker street. It's pretty goofy. Season 1 is completed. Transcripts available.
The Amelia Project
A fiction podcast. Follow the shenanigans of this death-faking organization as they take in new clients and hear their stories. It does develop an actual overarching plot later on but every second is fun. Seasons 1-4 have been completed and season 5 is in progress. Transcripts available.
A Voice From Darkness
A horror podcast. It's centered around a radio show hosted by Dr. Malcolm Ryder, Parapsychologist. He helps people who call into his show with supernatural problems, gives PSAs and warnings about strange happenings, and more. Season 1 is completed and season 2 is at 9 episodes. Transcripts available.
Station Arcadia
A dystopian fiction podcast. Formatted through a radio show, it tells the story of a world that's slowly dying. There are vignettes of different characters through different areas of the world. Season 1 is completed at 25 episodes. Transcripts available.
Margaret's Garden
A science fiction podcast. It has two plots running at the same time which keeps you on your toes but makes for an intriguing story line. In one plot line, two agents are sent to investigate the strange happenings of a weird little long abandoned town. Simultaneously, we hear from the past of that town as it catches up to the agents. Completed at 10 episodes. Transcripts available.
Camp Here & There
A horror comedy podcast. It's recorded as a set of daily announcements over a loudspeaker at a totally normal summer camp. The announcements are made by the camp nurse and he's also totally normal. I promise. Make sure to check in with the content warnings as some topics are a little mature or graphic. There are currently 34 episodes. Transcripts available.
Wayward Guide for the Untrained Eye
A companion horror podcast. This is actually a bit meta because it is the result of a youtube series. This show is the one the podcast hosts in the series release, it's definitely worth both the watch and the listen though. It's got werewolves and drama. Completed at 10 episodes of video and 10 of the podcast. No transcripts.
I am in Eskew
A horror podcast. It's about a man who's trapped in a city where the buildings always change and the rain never stops. There's a weird monotonous creeping horror in this show that just draws you in. Check for content warnings definitely. Completed at 30 episodes. Transcripts available.
Traveling Light
A comfy cozy fiction podcast. It follows The Traveller on their exploration through space, visiting alien planets and collecting stories to send back to their community. For supporters of the show, it almost functions as a choose-your-own-adventure with choices to vote on and listener submissions. It's made by the same people as Monstrous Agonies so if you enjoyed that, you'd enjoy this and vice versa. There are currently 16 episodes. Transcripts available.
Not yet described but still recommended:
Eeler’s Choice
The Secret of St Kilda
The Endless Ocean
The Department of Variance of Somewhere, Ohio
The Sword & The Stoner
World Gone Wrong: a fictional chat show about friendship at the end of the world

"Are you... one of my friends playing a prank on me?" It had to be. She didn't know where any of her friends would have gotten the Ghostface voice-changer, or why they would have even wanted to do such a thing.
The voice on the other end of the phone huffed out a laugh, and those same tingles went down her spine once again.

Ready or not / here I come / you can't hide / I'm gonna find you...
It always begins the same, doesn't it? Young, cute woman, home alone, watching a scary movie and making a snack...
When suddenly, out of nowhere, the phone rings.
It's after eight - who could be calling at such an hour?
The number doesn't come up on caller ID; the name reads unknown. Could it be any more ominous?
It rings, and rings, and ri-
"You could just, like, not answer," Kailey said out loud to herself, shaking her head of long, dark hair at the TV screen for what seemed like the fiftieth time. The young woman on the screen paid her no mind - the dumb bitch never did - as she tearfully answered the phone once again to plead with the killer to leave her alone; to please stop calling. Kailey sighed, taking a sip of her vanilla Coke as she leaned back on the couch. She'd seen this movie about a hundred times, and she still was amazed at how dumb some of the characters were. The outcome was always the same, no matter how much she tried to warn them to Don't answer it! Look behind you! For fuck's sake, don't hide under the bed! And no matter how many times she knew she was just talking aloud to an empty room and her TV screen, she still continued to do it.
Regardless of her annoyance about the unwise decisions some people make during horror movies, she genuinely loved watching them. Her friends and family thought it was weird that she enjoyed horror movies so much, but she didn't really care what other people thought of her. Movies were her escape, and she always felt at peace when watching her favorites.
The young woman on the screen was now running away from her patio window after a chair had been thrown through it, her tear streaked face pulled into a grimace as she ran wildly down the hallway away from the killer. Kailey found herself wondering, not for the first time, what she would do in that situation. Would she hang up and call the police? Hide? Escape the house? Honestly, she liked to think that she'd grab the biggest fucking knife she could find in the cupboard and stand her ground. Though she was slim and athletic, and barely reached five foot six, she knew she could put up a fight if she needed to. But maybe escaping the house and running to her car would be the safest, smartest option. Who knew, though. Thinking about it didn't harm anyone, though; one couldn't be too prepared. But one definitely could be unprepared.
She was taking another sip of her Coke when her phone rang suddenly, scaring the daylights out of her and nearly making her drop the can and spill the addictive, sugary liquid all over the place. Wiping her mouth, heart pounding in her chest from the suddenness of it, she laughed to herself at the irony of the situation: here she was, watching a scary movie, alone in her home at night, and then, dun dun dunnn, her own phone rings in real life. Rolling her eyes, Kailey said out loud, "Ooh, spooky," and made a mental note to not answer the phone. But the more it rang, the more she wondered if maybe she should. If someone was calling her landline at eight fourteen at night, it could be important. Her cell was charging in the other room- maybe whoever it was had tried to reach her on there first, and when she didn't pick up, they called her home phone. Ugh, it better not be work. She decided to just let it go to voicemail- if it was something emergent, she would pick up... unless it was work. Then she would pretend she had fallen asleep early.
Her plan failed, however, when she heard the telltale beeping of the answering machine that signaled the mailbox was full. "Shit." she muttered, leaning over the arm of the couch to look at the grey and black box, as though willing for it to share its secrets with her. It didn't help that her landline didn't have caller ID like most people's did- it was older, but since it still worked, she couldn't justify buying a new one. This was why she'd been counting on the answering machine picking up and being able to tell that way, instead.
Stop being a little bitch - man up and just answer the phone. If it's not anything important you can just hang up. Besides, who the hell else would be calling at this time of night anyways besides work or family?
Before she got the chance to pick up, the answering machine hung up on the caller. For a moment she dumbly stared at the phone and the answering machine, and then she shrugged and turned back towards the slasher film that was still playing. The girl on the screen was now being chased by the killer, his long, black cloak flying out behind him as he ran after her, gleaming knife raised high in the air.
It was at this moment that the phone rang again, and this time Kailey leaned over towards the end table and picked the cordless, white handheld up off of the stand. If they were calling back so soon, it had to be something important. Maybe it was her mother. And since she hadn't answered the first time her mom, if it was in fact her, was probably wondering if she had fallen and cracked her head in the clawfoot bathtub; or if she had finally decided that going to bed at eight o clock in the evening was not, in fact, too early. As if.
Without thinking any more about it, she reached over and answered the phone. "Hello?"
"Hello, Kail."
The voice startled her, and it wasn't any she'd been expecting; not the voice of her mother, or of her boss wanting her to come into work. It was a man's voice; low and pleasant, almost a purr, with a hint of a rasp to it. Come to think of it, it sounded a hell of a lot like- "Um, hi. Who is this?" she asked, equally pleasant but also wary. A bill collector wouldn't have greeted her like that - definitely not. It had to be someone who knew her; knew her voice. And only people that were close to her called her Kail - most called her Kailey. And she didn't have many close friends, and definitely none that were guys. Guys wanted to get in her pants, not be her friend. With her long, dark hair, large dark doe eyes, and her womanly athletic figure, she knew how men looked at her. And, hey, she wasn't above being a little bit of a tease.
"Just an... admirer." The voice was nice- really nice. It was an exact replica of the voice from the Stab movies, and also the Ghostface killings that tended to happen throughout the years in Woodsboro. Living there had its nightmares.
Kailey leaned back on the couch, really wishing the house phone had caller ID right about now. "An admirer, huh?"
"Yeahh," the voice purred, and she found herself pressing the phone closer to her ear to take it in even more. It sent a chill down her spine - a good kind.
"Okay, well," She tried wracking her brain for someone, anyone, that had been super interested in her lately. Maybe someone at work - someone she talked to every day. She worked in the inventory department at the local hospital in Woodsboro, and she wasn't super friendly with any of her coworkers; they all got along, but she tended to keep to herself. Kailey was pretty observant, and no incidents stood out to her. No strange guys, no creeps following her or watching her from afar (that she'd noticed, at least). "Do I know you, Mr. Admirer?"
"Maybe." was his reply. His voice sounded so damn amused, even only saying one word.
'Maybe'... Okay? Well, that certainly doesn't help me.
"Are you... one of my friends playing a prank on me?" It had to be. She didn't know where any of her friends would have gotten the Ghostface voice-changer, or why they would have even wanted to do such a thing. None of her friends really watched scary movies, and most of them did not know the number for her house phone.
The voice on the other end of the phone huffed out a laugh, and those same tingles went down her spine once again. Whoever this is, their voice is sexy as fuck.
"No, but I'd like to be your friend." came the bemused reply to her question.
...Hmm, now she was really wondering who it was.
"Well," she began, smiling to herself and letting it seep into her voice, "it's kind of a weird time to ask to be my friend, on a Friday night at eight pm."
Now the voice on the other end chuckled, the sound deep and low, and cascading over her like a warm waterfall. The feeling ended with a zap straight down between her legs, and she squirmed on the couch, eyes flicking briefly to the movie she still had playing, but at this point had nearly forgotten about.
"Is there ever really a bad time to make a new friend?" he asked, and she rolled her eyes playfully, even knowing he couldn't see it.
"I guess not. So, tell me, friend, how'd you get my number?" She reached for her drink, wracking her brain on trying to figure out who this possibly could be.
"It was in the phonebook," he answered, lightly. Why did everything he said sound like he was flirting with her? And why was it so hot?
She guessed phonebooks were still a thing (maybe for old people), but she could tell his answer was teasing, and probably not truthful. But maybe it was? It would certainly explain a lot. And it would mean that whomever this was on the other line had to at least know her name, in order to find her in the phonebook. She didn't know how many Kailey Miller's lived in Woodsboro, but it couldn't be that many.
This speculation still wasn't getting her any closer to an actual answer, but... maybe that wasn't necessarily a bad thing. Maybe some mystery was good, and also added to the attraction she was currently feeling.
At this particular moment, the female character in the movie she still had playing gave a particularly piercing scream, and she reached for the remote in order to turn it down.
"Are you watching a scary movie?" he asked, and she nearly laughed once again at the irony. Here was a caller with a (sexy) voice that sounded just like Ghostface, and they randomly called her while she was watching Stab. And now they were asking her about a scary movie. What the actual hell.
"Y-Yeah," She didn't know if she should answer him, or hang up the phone, lock all the doors and windows and call the police. "I am."
"Or do you normally have hysterical, screaming victims chained up in your house?" he added playfully.
This got a laugh out of her. "Oh, yes - you've figured out my secret. Promise you won't tell the police?" She hoped she wasn't laying the flirting on too thick - it kind of made her want to gag. Her normal idea of flirting was making sarcastic comments and inappropriate jokes. But understandably to some people, that could be pretty off-putting. So unfortunately more often than not, she found herself trying to dum things down for the sake of others around her.
There was a pause, in which Kailey could hear him breathing on the other end of the phone, and she really wondered if she had scared him off or if he was about to hang up. But then he spoke: "I won't tell if you won't."
The words sent a chill down her spine, and the way he managed to make something like that sound so creepy and so hot at the same time was beyond her. And maybe she was crazy, but goddamn was it sexy. She'd never felt so attracted to another human being. Ever.
And then the power flickered in her house.
She wondered if she’d imagined it, at first. Her house was on the outskirts of Woodboro, surrounded by trees and green, but her house hardly ever lost power since she was still technically in town. Her mother had been very adamant about making sure they remained in the town, for the sole purpose of being close to everything that necessitated being close to. Be that the school, jobs, the hospital, the drugstore, etc. and they never lost power. Her mother had long since moved out of the area to a different town, but Kailey had inherited the house, and was very proud to call it her own. Right now, however, she was questioning the choice of location.
Kailey found herself looking up at the light above, wondering if it had actually flickered, or if she was finally officially losing her mind.
“Whatcha looking at?”
The question didn’t quite register at first, but when it did, it felt like everything paused. She slowly reached for the remote next to her on the couch cushion and paused the movie, wondering if he’d really said what she thought he’d said - what she was certain he’d said. “What… What did you say?”
“I said: Whatcha doin?”
She shook her head, feeling her stomach twist uncomfortably for the first time since she’d answered the phone. “No, you didn’t.”
Suddenly a feeling crept over her like she’d never experienced: she had never been so certain that she was being watched. And she’d also never been more aware that she was sitting in front of a clear window with her back to it.
Cold chills washed over her like never before, and she felt like she’d been plunged into a frozen lake. Survival instincts took over, and she slowly sank down on the couch so that she was no longer visible from the window behind her - however, she could still be seen from the front door, and the side window to the left of the couch. Especially with the lights on. So naturally, maybe not the smartest thing, but her first order of business was to kill the lights. She quickly got up and ran the short distance to the front door, and flicked off the light switch, at the same time flipping the locks on the front door, as it hadn’t been locked before - but it sure as hell was now!
She couldn’t remember the last time she’d felt like this - or if she’d ever felt like this.
“Who turned out the lights?” came the playfully sinister voice from the other side of the window. She’d nearly forgotten she was still on the phone, as silly as that sounded, for that was the whole reason for all of this current madness and fear.
The fact that he was watching her was now quite apparent. Outside of her home was surrounded by plenty of trees and brush to hide in; lots of shadows in the dark. And aside from her porch light, there was only one street lamp outside, directly across the drive from the house. And it was inconsistent when it came to whether or not it would be working, at any given moment. Either way, as she peered out through the window that looked out across the porch, she knew that she probably wouldn't be able to tell where he was hiding. And the fact that he knew where she was, but she didn't know where he was, scared her inexplicably beyond words.
Swallowing hard, Kailey tried to hide the tremor in her voice as she spoke into the phone, "Listen, if this is a prank, congratulations - you've had your fun. Now, now get the fuck out of here before I call the police."
A warm, breathy chuckle followed closely after her words, and she crept back away from the window towards the couch, "This isn't a prank, Kails. You should know that."
She shook her head in confusion, "What do you mean? I don't understand - I should know what?" She tried to wrack her brain for anything that had happened recently that would indicate that she was deserving of a 'prank' like this. Sure, she had enemies - but so did everyone. But none that she knew of that would go this far to prove a point, or any of which that knew where she lived (that she knew of, at least). And again, she really didn't think any of her friends would want to pull a Ghostface prank on her - they were all freaked out by the murders, rightfully so, and they were all pretty straight laced for the most part. The more she tried to come up with answers, the more questions she had.
There was a pause from the other end of the phone, a brief one, while her hand felt around on the couch cushion for the TV remote, wanting to turn the movie off to eliminate that source of light as well. She was crouched on the floor, eyes nervously darting around at all the windows and the door to make sure no one was trying to break in. And then, he said: “You want this.”
Her hand froze on the couch cushion, as did her whole body; as did her very breath. “W-What?”
“Yeah, that’s right,” His voice was so husky and warm, and despite her fear she felt a pleasant tingling in her lower back, her heart beginning to race for a different reason. “You’ve been thinking about this for quite some time - wanting it, dreaming about it. You think nobody would ever understand. You think it’s wrong to want something so dirty. But it’s not wrong. And I understand.”
Kailey still hadn’t managed to grab onto the remote - she was forced to listen to what he was saying with her cheeks heating, red in shame, and… something else. What was even going on? What the hell was happening to her?
“I don’t know what you think you know,” she began, a tremor in her voice, though she tried to make it as serious and steely as possible, “but if you’re trying to scare me, good luck. It’s you who’s gonna be fucking scared if I have to come out there with my gun.”
He chuckled again, and the hair on the back of her neck rose once again at the sound. “Oh, sweetheart, you don’t have a gun.”
While she internally bristled at the confidence of his statement (and at the fact that he was absolutely correct), she also preened at the pet name as well as the tone of his voice. And, not that he needed to know this, but she absolutely did not have a gun. But damn, would one be helpful right about now. “As long as you leave now you won’t have to find out.”
“Feisty girl,” he purred, and she heard some rustling in the background of his call for the first time. “I can’t wait to see how feisty you truly are.”
“I can’t wait to see your fucking face when the cops show up and arrest your dumbass for trespassing and harassment.” She finally was able to turn off the TV when her hand found the remote. If this was a prank, it was long past the point of being funny. Now she was just plain pissed off - and scared. “I’m not kidding, asshole, you’d better leave, or else.” That fine tremor was still in her voice, and as much as she tried to project it to make her voice sound more aggressive, she could barely get it out at an audible octave. Right now all of her energy was being expended on thoughts of survival and on what to do next.
This was probably a prank, though. It had to be… right? If she went into work on Monday and someone was going around talking about how they pranked her and ‘she was so scared, dude!’, she was gonna lose her effing mind, and heads were gonna roll. As soon as she found out which jackass from the hospital came here to terrorize her on a Friday night, she would make them regret it. But until then, she would feel safer with a weapon of some kind, and with the police alerted. They took these Ghostface pranks very seriously.
“Why would I leave now?” the voice questioned, and she heard a noise that sent her pulse skyrocketing even higher than it already had been: footsteps on her front porch. “We’re just getting started.”
She barely registered the telltale scrape of the mailbox cover being pulled down from against the outside wall of the house next to the front door - where the spare key to the house was kept - before she bolted out of the room with terror hot on her heels. Who was this person, and how did they know where she kept the spare key to her house? The exact spot? Granted, it wasn’t a very hard spot to find, but still. He had found it with no hesitation whatsoever - he’d had a preconceived idea of where it had been before he even came up onto the porch. That meant only one thing: whoever he was, he’d been watching her. For a while.
And now he was coming into her house.

Would The Entity from Dead By Daylight be a manifestation of the hunt? (Not really a person to be an avatar, more a dark god of its own.)

How about a survivor who somehow knows of the Archives existence and took the chance to leave the campfire in search for it in hopes of escaping the Entity’s realm one way or another, only to accidentally stumble into the Hillbilly’s territory who’s absolutely obsessed with them? A scenario would be nice! Thank you!
-------
You have no idea how much I like this! :D Personally, I have the feeling that the Archives might be the closest thing to a get-away from the horrors in the Entity’s realm any person stuck there could wish for. Especially since the Observer, the one operating the Archives, knows more about the realm than any of the killers and the survivors ever could. Of course, if I read the lore right, the Observer doesn’t know how to leave the realm himself, but it might be the safest place in the Fog for the survivor to be in, I bet.
--------
The Hillbilly
Tumblr media
The disfigured man hears whispers in the wind, directing him to the east side of the unkept farm- his farm. He listens intently and grips his chainsaw and hammer even more tightly in his rough hands. A warning from the Entity- warning him that there is an intruder near his land. But which one could it be? One of the young adults dressed with a grinning mask? The tall man in blue overalls and a white face that acts as a mask? A strange creature with a flower-shaped mouth lined with razor-sharp teeth that is actually its face?
He shivers restlessly, white-hot fury already bubbling up in his lanky body and burning his veins in the process. He never really had a good relationship with any of the killers, not even the one he got to know as Bubba Sawyer, the Cannibal. In fact, the only moment the two of them willingly interact with one another is when they exchange the Hillbilly’s slaughtered pigs for Bubba’s mechanical parts and maintenance products for chainsaws and agricultural vehicles. Nothing more, nothing less. If it weren’t for that, Max might have attacked that stupid man a long time ago; jealousy, bloodlust and self-preservation of his own skin the main motives. Not that his face is worthy enough to be worn, apparently.
And before you wonder, he saw and still sees flashes of the Cannibal’s past any time the two interact. Maybe that's a way for the Entity to keep the Hillbilly's killer's motives at a high level and keeping him on his toes as result. A strange way to keep the killers isolated from each other and motivated to kill each other all at the same time- sharing corruption and twisted emotions. The dark being basically dangles it in front of the heads of some who need the discipline that friendship is not, and never will be, an option given all their natures and upbringings. And that the anger and frustration that almost always ensues after such interactions, and is often fueled by misunderstandings, can only be extinguished during trials. Well, most of the time, because a killer killing another killer does happen occasionally, but not as often as it would have if the Entity had not interfered when necessary.
He approaches the edge of the outer boundary of Coldwind farm and sees from afar that a shadow is moving rapidly in the dark thicket. A bush rustles and whips aside before the swaying of tall corn stalks implies that the unknown killer thought it a good idea to position itself in the fields. Precisely the fields that are a part of his territory....
His breathing becomes shallow and filled with resentment as he himself walks straight into the dark yellow vegetation, his beady eyes peering for a head to violently smash his bulky hammer against and show them that this kind of provocation might as well be their death sentence.
He is already brandishing the hammer high above his head as he approaches the familiar crunch of footfalls on dry ground, but slows down when he notices that the intruder seems a lot smaller than he expected; just a tad bit taller than that skinny lady with the big hand.
He swings anyway when a hooded head pops fully into view, only to be paralyzed to the bone when an all too familiar pitch of the voice makes his ears twitch as the figure dodges the hammer at the last possible moment, hitting nothing but greenery instead.
You change your course and run as fast as you possibly can, your backpack rippling during the movement. Max stares after you in a mesmerized daze.
It’s you…
Why are you here?
In the few years he has served the Entity thus far, he has rarely encountered a survivor wandering so far from the safety of a campfire as the one after the latest mass shift. The last time he saw a survivor within his area in such a manner was many months ago.
No. He doesn’t want to think about that- about him…
He is not delusional. He understands that you are not here for him. For you, a very unfavorable situation that came through a bout of bad luck. But for him, exactly the opposite is the case. Although, he is still very curious about where you were headed to. Maybe that backpack of yours can give him more insight into that? after all, he doubts you'll tell him voluntarily. As he learned from TV, some people will do almost anything to hide a secret from a person they dislike, no matter how insignificant it is.
He shakes his head, the anger in his blood gradually replaced by an emotion much lighter and more heavenly as he drops his tools with a thud. He won’t need them right now… Not with you…
He straightens his back, his spine popping loudly in the process before quickly limping after you at a speed even faster than before.
You don’t stand a chance.
You scream as something heavy quickly tackles you to the ground, yanking your backpack off you and throwing it somewhere to the side before pinning you belly-side down to the ground. You try to turn around, struggling in the process, and try to swipe an arm back whenever you see an opening. In response, he simply grabs your wrists before nailing them down as well.
Whilst you are shortening your life span through unfiltered inner panic alone, as ecstatic the Hillbilly is with finally having you within his grasp in a way he could have never dreamed of before.
Sure, it's clear that there's still a lot of work to be done to get you to trust him, but there's now hope and a solid goal for him to work on. One that is now approachable and seemingly possible to achieve.
He just hopes that you will also open yourself up to the idea of spending the rest of your life close by his side.
The very first step would be to try and get you to talk about why you left the survivor's camp in the first place.

Michael as a killer, Gerry as a survivor
I was going to do bios but they were too similar to the original canon so I didn’t bother including them, basically original canon happens but instead of their stories in Archives their taken in by the fog.
Michael Shelly - The Distortion
Appearance:
Michael is the tallest killer chosen by the Entiry, making him fast with a longer vision scope, but also means survivors who are crouched are a little harder for him to spot and he takes longer to get through doors. He has two forms. The first is almost respectable looking. He seems like a gentle young man, if somewhat unsettling. He’s extremely tall with curly blond hair. He is always wearing what appears to be a work suit. The moment one of his abilities triggers however he changes drastically. He becomes taller, much taller. His hair grows in length and becomes a mass of blond curls that spiral and twist, seemingly disappearing into the background at the ends. His placid smile becoming a wide grin with regular teeth becoming sharp fangs. The only thing that stays the same is his fingers, regardless of his appearance his fingers are distorted. They are extremely long, so much so the tips of his fingers brush his knees, and look almost broken in several places.
Weapons:
Voice - his laugh can stun within a ten metre radius.
Hands - his fingers and nails are long, distorted, and sharp. Perfect for slashing.
Mori:
The world around the victim morphs. The sky becomes colourful spirals and the ground and landmarks all twist into each other. Suddenly a smile appears from above like the Cheshire Cat, wide with sharp teeth. It opens, laughing his high pitched shriek, a cackle that seems to cause your body to twist in on itself grotesquely until you are an unrecognisable pile of flesh.
Perks:
Twisted Souls
If you catch a survivor unhooking someone in time, you cause them both to twist around each other. This means the second survivor will be added to the first survivor’s hook.
The House
If you are in the same building as a victim they are exposed. They receive a tally mark similar to the one they receive upon being hooked. If in the second hook state the survivor is unable to leave the building as for them doors and windows keep changing, moving, and disappearing.
Jack-In-The-Box
The doors are your world, if a survivor enters a locker they become exposed to you for 15/30/45 seconds.
Gerard Keay
Appearance:
Thick, messy long hair, dyed black with a hint of ginger roots coming through at the top. He’s short, chubby, and his tattoos have been changed by the Entity. Instead of symbols relating to the Fears they related to the different killers that have been chosen.
Perks:
The Motherload
I can hear what the spirits are telling you
You have learned to understand the Entity and can hear what it is telling the killer with 15/30/45% clarity.
Raining Blood
Raining blood from a lacerated sky
When bleeding your blood splatters in different directions making it extremely difficult for the killer to follow.
Duality
Leave me all the pieces, then you can leave me alone
When you heal someone without a med kit you are given the option adopt one of their perks at random until the end of the trial. This can only be used once per trial. The icon for the perk will appear in Gerard’s skin almost like a warm, glowing tattoo.
Location associated with both: The Tunnels
There are four different areas within this location each corresponding with the directions on a compass. Their complex mazes with ceilings that get higher and lower seemingly at random. Some doors require you to crouch through, some are gigantic. The basement works a little different here, in that since the tunnels are a basement this room with its special hooks is in the centre of the map. The exits are on the ceiling with a ladder that falls down when they open.

okay, so
i had this conversation one time with a friend of mine
so you know how mikey (michael myers) does his slow little menacing speed walk?
we started joking around and were saying, he walks when the person he's chasing is looking at him, but the moment they turn around?
what if michael full on fucking sprints, and you can't hear his footsteps despite him being a huge fucking man
imagine you're just being chased by myers, you know, and you're like "pffft- oh, he's walking. there's no way in hell he'd be able to catch me."
you turn around and then you're like "wait-"
and you see a fucking 6'9 (going off of rz myers height cuz i can) giant ass man hauling ass towards you.
if that were me? i'd just violently start sobbing bc i'm a fucking goner HRSFKJG
